One of my gf's hubby has just had it done and has had no dramas (he's in his forties) and another is about too (he just turned 30) From what I've read it is a much simpler op for men and there can be all sorts of nasty side effects for women particularly if you have had problems with your periods previously.
I wouldn't get a TL done we will get DH done, not for a while yet tho :)
One thing the two boys have been told by their docs is that it will take 30 ejaculates to rid themselves of live swimmers...something I never knew!!

DH got the snip. We had the discussion and if I had c/s with DD2 I would get tubes tied, but if not he would get snip. That was the deal.
We went in (yes I went and watched :lol:) all over in an hour, he drove home, we went shopping after. He was a little tender but he was fine. He went to work 2 days later!
Its easier for men, but each to their own I guess!
