We don't have dessert after dinner unless we are having a dinner party and even then it's something pretty simple like choc mouse with fresh whipped cream and crushed up peppermint crisp sprinkled on top... I'd like to get more creative and make golden syrup dumplings or chocolate pudding but I just can't be bothered. Normally after dinner I am satisfied/full and don't feel like dessert, even when we go out for dinner... If the meals have been small portions we may order one to share but it's rare. As a child dessert was always available but again I was full from the main meal and didn't have any unless it was something extra special like a pudding.

What a great thread.
Growing up we didn't have dessert after dinner - but now we do without fail every night.
My son gets a mini cone with a teaspoon of ice-cream (he loves it!) - my husband and I have whatever I've made or bought - ice cream, frozen yoghurt, banana bread I've baked etc.....oh, and a cup of tea for me and a bourbon for my husband (his one drink per day LOL)
