WOOHOO - Ice Cream Maker!!

Sarah, I made it last night, we had it tonight for dessert! I made a warm chocolate sauce to go with it, and I agree, I think it needs it. Although it does make it VERY decadent. I would say it's not a dessert for the faint hearted, and that means alot coming from me LOL. DH couldn't even finish his (rather large) bowl, and that's REALLY saying something :rofl: Great recipe though, very yummy, and so easy!

I'd forgotten how long homemade icecream takes to soften up though.........it was a late dessert for us LOL!

Yep I have to agree it was very decadent too. I only taste tested in the morning, but had some with my brother last night while Aaron was out playing poker! I told Aaron I would share it with the one person I know that shares my appreciation for peanut butter & his response was "don't you mean obsession" LOL!

DH and I are trying to get an Ice Cream Maker... So, we need all input from the lovely ice cream maker owner ladies in here. Obviously capacity would be a lovely consideration due to the size of our tribe, but failing that, something really quick!

And opinions on the differences between a soft serve and a basic. I am thinking basic would be best but the kids keep going on about soft serve... blah, will probably end up with both, haha.

Ohhhh... great idea Inertia! I'd love to know the types/brands of ice cream makers as we've always wanted one (well, I have anyway ;))

well, we went shopping today and ended up with only one choice.. The good guys had 2 left and when I got ours the woman serving me grabbed the other, LOL. Its a sunbeam snowy - they do get ones with bigger capacities but only during the summer.. So hope you get a bit more choice, Lisa.

However it is somewhat fast at 20ish minutes to freeze the mix and we have a chest freezer to keep the canister frozen.

Gonna try it out tomorrow after the initial canister freeze and will let you know how it goes.

That's is the only one I have seen for sale too Intertia, but with a 15yr old and an almost 12yr old, I fear I would constantly be making ice cream.
I would love to find one bigger.

I have a ronson ice cream maker. Well, all except for the freezer bowl :doh: Don't ask, long story, but now I can't get a replacement bowl so I think I may need to get a whole new machine. Or not, just more money and cupboard space I don't have!

Does anyone make ice cream without a (or should I say "an"?) ice cream maker?

I have the instructions for my machine with recipes if anyone wants me to scan and email.

just bought some ingredients and chocky bits to try some chocky ice cream in our new ice creammaker...I made yummy scrummy wildberry ice cream first time round...hubby voted for milk chocolate ice cream with white choc chips for this batch...yummo!

Sarah what brand did you buy. I am looking into buying one as I really don't like paying nearly $7 a tub for 1ltr of Ashton's lactose free icrecream. I would rather make it myself. I can get one through Tupperware, but it is a bit exxy. Although not having to buy Ash's icrecream all the time would mean it would soon pay for itself.

The one we got is Krups brand, only got that one cos it was from credit card points! They are on sale with Deals Direct at the moment for $70

And I'm going to make some pomegranate ice cream too :D

we got the cuisinart one...mainly because it has all stainless steel bits except the paddle, whereas some of them have plastic outers. It was $149 for a 2 litre capacity machine if that helps.....

Where did you get the Cuisinart one from Melbel? I have been looking at that brand and cheapest I have found is $170 for a 1.5ltr

The 'Delicious' magazine this month has some brilliant recipes I'm going to try this summer. Go pick up a copy. My only lament about this month is that there are so many recipes I can't cook because they contain so many 'forbidden' ingredients. :(

But icecream... here I come!! :D

We got ours from The General Trader store.....from their DFO store but I am pretty sure their normal stores have them too cos the lass was looking on her omputer at the stocks at some other stores for us(we were tossing up between taht one and the soft serve one.
