I can't believe that I am writing this, but yesterday, I did a hpt and got the darkest +ve I have ever gotten before. I am still in shock as I was basically about to give up.
My AP isn't back for a couple of days and I am busting to go see him and tell him he has to make it stick LOL.. I also have to get to a dr to do a bt and check my progesterone levels as well. My dr is just useless and hasn't been any help to me at all, so I will have to find someone quickly tomorrow when everything opens again..
Thanks girls for sharing your stories, I will keep you posted. xx

Nicambhar - OMG that is brilliant news. It's happened so quickly just like me. Seems such a simple thing - warm up our body and then wham bam it works!
Yes rush and get some blood tests done and let us know the results!
My AP has me strictly following the same diet as I was on for the few weeks before I conceived so I imagine it will be the same for you.
Interesting that my AP encourages me to have ginger and said it sends the heat downwards whereas garlic sends heat upwards. I asked about fennel herbal tea and he said that was too hot as was having too many adzuki beans (I am vegetarian). Too many hot hot foods can cause your baby to have eczema according to him. He wanted me to eat lamb to warm me up but I said no as I dont eat meat. I've done everything else he has told me to though and not eating meat didn't stop me from falling pregnant with the treatment straight away so I am very happy! I was ok to eat fish but he said that was cooling!
Anyway, seems there are a few foods which are contradictory. He also told me dairy was neutral but I would have thought it was cooling as it is very mucous forming in the body. I dont eat dairy either. I was eating eggs for the protein but he told me they caused damp so I stopped. So I have to work hard to make sure I am getting enough protein!
Anyway, HUGE congratulations and I will be eager to hear how things are going.
    Cheers, Lisa M

LisaM - Oh thankgoodness, I just spoke with my AP and he wants to see me today, he was over the moon when I told him... I have done a hpt everyday for the last 3 days and they are getting really dark now, I have never had that before so feel pretty confident, but nervous at the same time.
I am struggling with things to eat, so hard when pg and get the munchies so am going to ask him for a better list today of what to eat.
    Take care..

Nicambhar - I am so happy for you. To think it was going to take 5 months or so and to happen straight away is brilliant.
I saw my AP this morning for the first time in 2 weeks as he is now back from holidays thankfully. He was very happy and said the fetal pulse was strong. He looked at my tongue and said my only real issue is to stop analysing everything (which I do), as this drains too much energy or chi. Easier said than done to stop analysing everything when you are constantly working out what to eat and what not to do and thinking about every aspect of the pregnancy!
Every time I see him I always ask about more and more foods to eat and as I am craving some fruit but haven't eaten any as its raw, asked him if I could have cooked raspberries which he said would be okay. He also said eggs twice a week would be alright.
Well let us know how you go with the AP.
    Cheers,

    Lisa M

Lisa M - I can't believe how similar our stories are.. My AP doesn't want to do anymore AP yet but changed my herbs. He did also look at my tongue, oh and yes, I know what you mean about what to eat, it's driving me nuts. I was really hanging out for some fruit last night and ended up baking some peaches with a little brown sugar, oh it was so good..
I did get into a gp this morning and have had my bt, so will know how everything is going by this afternoon.
Take care and please keep me updated with how you are going..

    To everyone,

sorry I'm very new to this and am not really sure who started this thread so I'll just address this mesage to everyone....

I fell pregnant almost 6 years ago naturally and by accident! My family have bred the most fertile women in history and I WAS exactly the same. I had a little boy (by emergency C-section) who is now 5 and the most amazing little person. Now...things are very different.

DH and I have been TTC for 2 years. We have done 3 rounds of clomid, which resulted in one early m/c, exploratory surgery - a laparoscopy, D&C and dye studies which revealed I only have 1 good tube (the other is bent from scar tissue which may resolve itself with time) and a uterus which was stuck to my bladder and a whole lot of other stuff too. All was fixed though and 1 month after the surgery I fell pregnant again but unfortunately m/c at 6 weeks.

Now I'm trying chinese medicine. I haven't started yet, just chatted but I am lucky enough to have a cousin who is a qualified chinese medicine practioner which maked things much less daunting. I feel really postive about it and everything he explains about body temp and kidney health (the chinese refer to it as having happy kidneys) makes perfect sense. You can really see where modern medicine crosses over with chinese medicine, for e.g. warm body = high levels of progesterone to maintain pregnancy...this is apparently my problem too.

He also says that accupuncture should be coupled with meditation as a happy and relaxed mind makes for happy and relaxed organs and hormones.

Anyway, I cant wait to start and hearing positive stories is very encouraging...good luck to all!!

    Hi ladies,

Just wanted to share my experience today at my first AP session.

I too was told that I am too "cold" around my uterus and ovaries, and had AP on the points that will increase blood flow to warm up those areas.

I was also given a mixture of chinese herbs which I mix with hot water and drink each morning. They will apparently bring things back into order, and my cycle should come closer to a 28 day cycle, rather than the 35 - 40 days I'm having now!

I get cold hips for some reason (sounds strange) and quite strong period pain, which apparently happens when the blood flow to the kidneys, ovaries and uterus isn't optimal.

My next session is on CD14 (I'm on CD2 today), where I'll have certain points stimulated to induce ovulation.

She didn't say much about the food, other than to stay away from ice cold water and to just drink from the tap instead. She also gave me a photocopy from a book about what to eat for a "Yang Deficiency" which I guess is what I have. It says to stick to more warming foods like rice, lamb, beef, spices, stewed fruit etc. It says to stay away from raw fruits and vegetables, spinach, tomato, dairy products and cold drinks.

    Sounds promising

    Hi LisaM
I am also seeing Bill Wong for AP, and I too have to eat only cooked foods but he didn't really specifiy what not to have (only nothing raw or cold). He said I should eat more red meat but I can't tolerate it, I can only eat fish or chicken which he didn't say not to eat, but said I should eat Kidney beans 3 or 4 times a week. I really need to compile a list of what I shouldn't eat as I want to maximise my chances. He also looked at my tongue and said it was too pale indicating low energy in the blood, and also being anxious (which yep I am). I think I also have the cold issue as I always have cold hands and feet. I am an older lady, and I have only ever fallen pregnant once (last year) which ended in a MC. So I am hoping that this helps me to achieve our dream.

Hi ladies - just wanted to let you know there is a great TCM book called "The Infertility Cure" - I got it from A**zon, it has a lot of detail on using acupuncture and herbs for TTC, including stuff on what to eat for your particular conditions...
I have the book, so if you'd like me to look anything up just PM me

    Hi LisaM here.

Mrs P- I've seen that book when I have been searching on the internet. There's a website with some info from the book such as having spleen deficiency Fertility Enhancing Retreats for Infertility Treatment | TheFertileSoul.com Thanks for the offer to look things up.

Mrs K - That's great you are seeing Bill too. Sounds like exactly the same that he told me. Everytime I see him I keep asking questions about more and more food and whether it is okay and today I quizzed him about supplements as some of them are cooling too like zinc, magnesium, slippery elm powder and some are warming like vitamin E, garlic, multivitamin. Not sure how old you are but I am not exactly in my prime fertile years. I am 38 and will be two weeks off 39 when the baby is born. I know someone who was 45 and had IVF due to a donor egg and also saw Bill and now has a healthy baby boy. It was her first IVF attempt too. Best of luck falling pregnant again and I am now a HUGE believer in this principle about the body being too cold and follow Bill's instructions to the letter!

Darily - Those food recommendations sound exactly the same. Nothing raw or uncooked! Best of luck xo

issyO2 - thanks for sharing your story. I think Chinese medicine philosophy is very exciting. It's been around for thousands of years so I feel their perspective on fertility shouldn't be ignored. All the best for when you start trying!!

Nicambhar - how are you?? Any more news???

All is going well with me. I am now 9 weeks pregnant. Still a bit nauseas but have never vomited thankfully. Energy is a bit better. Still having my weekly acupuncture.

    Cheers,

    Lisa M

LisaM - Yep, still here and all is going well.. I am 5 weeks and 3 days today and feeling really good. My hcg levels at 3 weeks and 6 days were 243 so I am super happy with that. I am still seeing my ap and he has changed my herbs around a bit too. Still sticking to the diet and thankgod that I don't really have the munchies too much yet. Glad to hear that you are going so well, I still can't believe this miracle.. xx

    Hi Nicambhar,

    YEAH!!! That's great news. Congratulations.
Yes stick to the diet one hundred percent.
I take a few supplements, bit of a health nut, and I found out that some of them are too cooling also. You have to be SO careful.
Zinc and magnesium are cooling which is a shame as zinc is brilliant for preventing stretch marks and to prevent perineal tearing and magnesium is good for energy, stress and cramps. Oh well.
Slippery elm powder which many women take for constipation or diarrhoea in pregnancy is very cooling.
A multi vitamin is fine. Vitamin E is fine which I take a bit of to help prevent blood clots as I have an inherited blood clotting disorder. Garlic is fine and I have been taking some garlic tablets just to keep the immune system up to stop any infections.
Forgot to ask my AP about iron tablets so will check this when I see him at the end of the week.

Thats good the munchies aren't happening yet. I have been having so my more carbs than I normally would and that normally makes me put on weight. My stomach is definitely bigger and so is my chest but the scales haven't gone up thank goodness. I think I might have just redistributed the fat!!!

    Take care xo

    Hello,

Wondering if someone can answer my questions for me if possible....

I've just started seeing an acupuncturist & herbalist as we've been ttc for 5mths now and i'm feeling impatient....and he's given me 1 months supply of herbs (no idea which one's, as he only knew the chinese names!!)...
I have to boil them up and drain them and drink the tea every morning and night!

I wasn't told what herbs and also if they are safe to take in the 2nd half of the cycle incase I am UTD.... can they be harmful?

I've also just read an article on the internet regarding herbs whilst ttc and that they should ALL be avoided.... doesn't this go against chinese herbal medicine? I'm a bit confused
He did tell me that to expect it to take maybe 1mth or maybe 3mths to fall pregnant.... so i'd say he's had success...
I just hope I'm doing the right thing by my body and should I just trust the acupuncturist/herbalist? He was recommended to me by a friend who said he has helped some ppl she knows and also her Dad....

    Thanks ladies.

    Hey Ren,

I can't really answer your questions but I can tell you what I've experienced

My acupuncturist/herbalist specialises in fertility stuff, and he's pretty switched on to this type of thing. This would make me think that if he'd prescribed some herbs while TTC (we're not up to that stage yet!) he would definitely tell me whether to take them during the whole cycle or not.

Infact with the herbs he was giving me previously, I had a different batch each week for 3 weeks, then a week off (to follow a 'typical' AF cycle).

So I think you should trust your herbalist would tell you whether you should only take them for 2 weeks etc when he gives them to you. BUT since it seems they didn't state either way (and don't you just hate it when you're so overwhelmed with the whole concept that you think of all these great questions afterwards?), I would give them a quick call tomorrow, just to confirm and put your mind at ease.

    HTH!

    Hi all,

I am new to this. it was interesting reading about all your experiences. My husband and I have been trying for a baby for 2 years now. We are onto our 3rd cycle of IVF and it was reccomeneded to me to see Bill wong. He also told me to keep warm and not to eat any cold foods, salads, fresh fruit to have no fruit juices etc. He came reccomended by the IVF centre.

Wishing everyone luck in acheiving what will be one of the most important things in our live
