Trying to Conceive after Miscarriage or Loss June 2007

Hello to everyone. Thanks to all those that tried to answer my concerns about mb. I had a really good read of the instructions last night and think that it may not be the best thing to use when taking clomid as it said it is unsuitable for anyone taking fertility drugs, I am assuming that clomid is that? Woke up today and used it and suprise suprise there was only dots - no ferning. So that's probably a good thing anyhow, from what I have read I should be o'ing next week so not that long to wait.

I might try to do the temp taking thing too, this is going to sound really nieve (sp)? but can you buy any thermometer or is there a special one you have to buy? And will it matter if I start charting the temps now that i am on cd8? I feel a real dill having to ask such silly questions! Is there anyone else here that is about the same time in their cycle as me?

Feeling bit down today, not sure if it's the clomid messing me around but feel depressed. We have termites at home, the house is full of them. Luckily we have insurance to cover the work that is being done, they have to take out the bottom layer of bricks right around the whole house and redo the mesh barrier. The house is rendered too so I am guessing it will never look the same again. We have had the work people here for over two weeks now, sick of the mess, dust and people being here in general! They haven't even started inside yet... that will be worse!

Sorry for the vent, hoping that having a whinge will make me feel somewhat better... Hope everyone else is having a good day :)

timnik - you need to buy an ovulation thermometer, they measure to 2 decimal places whereas a regular one only measures to 1 decimal place. If you ask at a chemist they should be able to help you. I'd just start charting now if I were you. I'm so sorry about your house :( I'd feel down about it too. That would be just awful having termites, hope its all fixed soon and that you feel better about things soon too.

satya - That's great that the FS has a plan for you now - I know I always feel better knowing what is going to happen. I can understand your worry, but try not to stress about the fibroid I'm sure it will turn out to not be a problem. Hope you enjoy your weekend at the beach!

Leyla - I read stuff saying only the first half of the cycle too. I can understand what you're saying - if you only take it for the first half of the cycle will it then take 6 months to have an effect?? LOL I hope not!! But seriously, I found more info that said to take it for the whole cycle rather than just the first half, so I decided that that's what I'd do. I'm also taking a vitamin B supplement as well, because the main reason I'm doing the Vitex is because I have a short luteal phase. But I think it has probably been more the homeopathic medicine that has had the effect for me at this stage anyway, because I've been taking it for a month longer than the Vitex.

Well I'm now 10 (or maybe 11) DPO, so only a few more days to go :) I'm really not sure when I'll test if AF doesn't show up, maybe Monday. With all the changes that I've had this cycle - early O - I'm a little bit confused and have got no idea when AF will show up if she does. I hope not!!

I went and had blood taken for CD21 hormone levels today anyway - I had a request from my gynae visit last month, so I thought it would be best to get them done this month just to rule out or find any problems. At least then if I'm not PG this month I will know whether there is a problem or not, and if there is I can hopefully get something done about it.

I'm feeling quite positive about it all though - I've been really hungry the last couple of days and I think maybe I'm going to the loo a little bit more often than normal. I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much though - don't want to be disappointed if AF shows. Cross your fingers for me!!

Sorry to hear you're not feeling so good :( I'm not sure you've O but then again I'm no expert - normally you O later judging by your chart?? And sometimes you have a mini-peak at around this point... but then again you got a +'ve OPK. Confusing. At least you're covered with BD if you did O.

Thanks for checking out my chart, it has totally confused me. I did another test today but still BFN. I'm not feeling like AF is on its way today.... so weird!!!!! I have no idea what's going on with my body right now. Hopefully tomorrow my temp. will still be up.

Salt - good to have you back again. I reckon you may have O'ed a couple of days ago looking at your temps. It will be interesting to see what tomorrow's does. That would be so great if you O'ed that early - yay! I really hope so. I don't know what to do about the OB. I am just too scared to book. I may today if the results are good, but I'm not sure. I did have to phone my health fund the other day to check which OBs are fully covered incase the one I want isn't available. It feels so scary to acknowledge I am pg, and I kept saying to the woman on the ph 'If I make it that far.' I can't help it - she must have thought I was so negative. I hope you feel better soon.

megsmum - good luck! I hope the BT results are good.

timnik - sorry things are so annoying atm. I would hate that many people around my house, what a pain! Clomid can make you more irritable too, so that's probably not helping. The girls have done a good job answering your Q re temping. Just check out FF - it's really good and has heaps of FAQs for help. I knew nothing before I started it!

Satya - I'm glad you are feeling a bit calmer now. It sounds like you will have a lovely weekend away. Enjoy yourselves!!

Claire - I've been really emotional too, always thinking this one will end like the others did. It's really hard. My goals are much shorter too. I can't even think of actually having a baby at the end of this! Just getting through today occupies my mind enough.

Hi to everyone I have missed.

Well, the symptoms have kicked in. I am constantly nauseous, last night was awful, and so so tired I nearly fell asleep at work yesterday. I just wish the symptoms would reassure me that all is going well but they don't. With my m/cs, it took some time after each one ended before the symptoms finally went, so I am not feeling reassured at all. I went and got the BT done this morning, so need to wait til around 2.30pm for the results. I am not feeling too nervous yet, because I am too sick to be nervous, but I reckon the anxiety will start to build up soon. I did another HPT last night and got a nice dark line straight away again. With my second m/c I didn't actually m/c until 5w3d, but at 5w I received confirmation that my levels had dropped and it was just a matter of time. I only got the follow up BT that time because an HPT I did the day before came up almost negative, so I was sure something was up. Therefore really this pg has already made it further than the last one!! Yay!! That was my first milestone. Obviously the next is to get a heartbeat and then to make it past the date of my first m/c. Oh, such a long hard road, but I guess we have to do it. The lady who took my blood today (they know me now, I am there so often), said congrats, and I told her that my history is not good and I m/c, and she said she has had many many m/cs too but now has 2 kids and to keep trying as it is all worth it. That helped me so much this morning - maybe that's why I am not as nervous as usual yet, she gave me hope that even if this one doesn't work out, if we keep trying, then one day it will.

SaltP Looked at your chart and you might have O'ed...you could try chucking a couple of high temps in for the next few days and see what FF does. Looks as though you are covered with the BD'ing anyway!

Have been out of here too much lately and feel all left behind... have tried to post a couple of times and have ran out of time at work - it's hard to fit it in when I have lots to do. It is all over for me this month. AF arrived last night with a quite a fury... have been in a lot of pain all day today. has anyone else found AF worse since m/c?

This AF seems to have brought reality home for my DH. I have been welll and truly aware of reality since April, but he has been in denial a little I think. He is quite upset by the fact that we still aren't PG and has now convinced himself that there is something wrong with him... unfortunately i don't have a lot of emotional energy left to comfort him as I am feeling pretty crap myself. Anyway enough boo-hooing, especially as there are plenty of people here that have been trying so much longer than us!

Finally have my results and all is going well!

My HCG is now 3060! It was 131 last week, and the clinic said they wanted to see it at 1300, so that is a great result! My oestrogen and progesterone are still really good too.

I don't really feel happy though, just relieved that the wait for the ph call is over. I'm not sure if I will do the monitoring thing next week - the stress is just too much. Only 2 wks til my first scan now (talk about scary - at my last scan they told me my baby had died).

I am soooo tired from the m/s and the stress of waiting for the ph call, I could curl up and go to sleep now. I have to go out straight after work at 5.30 so I am not sure how I am going to manage it.

I'm thinking maybe I will actually get a pg ticker (but only a very tentative one), and I also need to book an OB. That seems way too serious for me and I'm not sure if I am up for that now, but I really want one particular OB and I would hate to not be able to book him.

Sorry for such a selfish post. I just don't have the energy for anything more, but I am thinking of you all.

Megsmum - being hungry is a good sign. I'm about 17dpo and tested positive on 14dpo. But a few days before that I suddenly couldn't stop thinking about food and was extra hungry. Fingers crossed for you! I got a bfn on 10 and 12 dpo if that helps you!

Salt - thanks for your good vibes. I'll tell you something funny that my DH would say to me around O time - he said he'd be sending in his "pack sperm" to track down my egg - just used to make me laugh. So I hope your DHs pack sperm get to your egg this cycle!! Pray for you.

Kiwigirl - what dpo are you? I'm about 17dpo today and still only getting a pretty faint-ish line - so hang in there, you're still in with a chance. That was another sign for me too - I just didn't feel like AF was on her way, and I also felt hot in the face, like I was flushed, mainly at night.

Bun - I'm sure your little bubba has got a good strong grip on you and won't be letting go for another 8 months OK!! All is going well, hooray!! You have to believe all will be fine, I reckon book your fave OB and put that ticker in place. I don't really have any major symptoms, other than feeling a bit tired, but in the past morning sickness doesn't kick in till about 7 weeks for me. I'm hoping to avoid it this time round. Great result from your blood test - see all is fine!!

Claireabel - it's a good sign to have MS - it'll pass. I ate bagels with peanut butter to curb it!! Whatever works!

Hi everyone, sorry I haven't been around much but I am really trying to stop obsessing about the whole ttc business.

Salt I thought my chart was looking really good too until I had the pretty big temp drop this morning, and then spotting this afternoon, didn't even bother testing. Also just to let you know, that since my 1st cycle after the D&C I have been O'ing around CD 14 when I was like you and wouldn't O normally until around CD 21 so maybe the m/c have done something to our hormones.
Bun your BT results sound excellent and I think that you can start to get a little excited, and like you said if it doesn't work out this time (but I have a good feeling for you with this pg) you can keep trying and you will get your baby one day.
Lee didn't bother testing today as my temp took a dive this morning and then started spotting this afternoon, starting to get a little depressed about it all really.

I had my Ob/Gyn appointment today, and he really didn't seem too concerned, and said that I had probably had 2 chemical pg, he is going to give me some blood tests, which I couldn't get done till Monday because one of the tests was for Lupus which apparently is a "special" kind of test that can't be done over the weekend (or something like that) but didn't think he was going to find anything wrong since I have already had 2 f/t pregnancies, he has basically told us to keep 'trying' but if nothing has happened in a few more months then he may consider putting me on HCG or Progesterone. There was one interesting thing that he told me and that was that MOST sperm actually only survive for 24 hours but that the egg lasts for 48 hours, I always thought it was the other way round :dunno: so I really haven't come back from the appointment feeling any better.

And with the spotting, cramping and temp drop today I feel certain that AF will knocking on my door in the next day or so. TTC SUX!

Sharon - just wondering which ob/gyn do you go to? (if you feel comfortable in releasing his name) Hopefully AF won't show up and you will be posting on here in a few days about your BFP :)

I've had AF for 16 days straight, very light thankfully - don't know if my cycle is going crazy again, or if it's because I have had the flu for the last 2wks? I just feel very tired, and drained, and I hope it sorts itself out soon.

Leyla, i have never noticed spotting around o time but i have heard of it, and i know it does happen. apparently it's the result of the sudden drop in oestrogen just before ovulation, before progesterone has been released to sustain the lining. some girls use this sign as one of their ovulation 'indicators'.

Satya, the time away sounds lovely, i hope you guys enjoy yourselves. i don't know a whole lot about fibroids but i didn't think they could cause m/cs?? i'm not sure, but i know friends who have them and haven't had them removed because they haven't really impacted them badly. in any case, good luck with it all, i've got my fingers crossed.

TimNik, when i first started charting over a year ago i started on day 6, so no, it doesn't matter if you start after day 1. it does take some time to get used to, but once you get the hang of it it's great, i really love knowing what my body's doing (except when it's doing something bad...). i can recommend a really good book on charting if you're interested. Sorry about the termites too - that sounds like hell!!

Megsmum - fingers crossed for you! the hunger and needing to go to the loo are great symptoms. i hope this is your month.

Salt, that's a fantastic temp shift today! i reckon you ovulated yesterday, but i guess time will tell. hopefully your temp stays up there. i hope you start to feel better soon too.

Sharon sorry about the spotting, the first few days of AF are such a downer. it's interesting what your doc said too, but one thing i've found with this whole TTC/pg thing is that everyone, even doctors, seems to have a different opinion. but i always though sperm lasted longer than the egg too.

Hi Belinda, 16 day AF sounds awful. are you taking iron? hopefully it sorts itself out soon, it must be hard to deal with for that long.

i have been very teary lately, last night i just sobbed with the anxiety this pg has caused. and as i write this to a forum full of girls who would love to be pg, i feel enormously guilty, as i know i am very fortunate to be pregnant, but it is just hard to be positive and not worry all the time. i've been snapping at DH all day (he's smart and has gone out for a few hours!) as i dreamt last night that at my scan on tues i saw two heartbeats, but one of them stopped beating on screen while we were watching. then when i woke up this morning my boobs weren't nearly as sore as they have been, so the anxiety/worry has gone into overdrive. the first scan is a few days away now and feel sick at the thought of it. even though my last experience in that room was good (when i saw my baby's heartbeat for the first time) i just can't stop remembering the feeling of being told at my 12 week scan there was no heartbeat anymore.
anyway, sorry to whinge, i don't want to seem ungrateful for what i have been given. i just have to accept that i have no control over this pregnancy and it is a waiting game. in the meantime, i have arrived at the wrong end of a pack of choc orange tim tams...

missbelinda77 had another temp drop this morning and more spotting so I think I am definitely out for this cycle, if DH hadn't been so stubborn around O time then we probably would have caught the egg. My Ob/gyn is Dr Norman Blumenthal, he is a very straightforward man with no pussyfooting around and doesn't 'baby' first time mothers, just tells them how it is which is what I prefer really, he even delivered my gp's wifes babies.

I have come to the conclusion that I just want AF to hurry up and get here since the last 2 cycles she has hung around for 6-7 days when pre preg last year I only ever got to medium flow and never really went any longer than 3 days (4 days max) have also noticed that I have started O'ing around mid cycle too since my d&c which I don't mind because I hate waiting for O. It is a cold, wet day here in sydney and I think I will go and snuggle on the lounge with a blanket.

Leyla - I don't remember having this much cramping last time, more around the 9dpo mark and that was it. Hope this is a good sign! Already into my 2nd week, counting down fast! A friend recently had spotting when she O'd this month too! Hoping it's a good sign for her...and you too! I don't know that it's common, but obviously not unheard of. Good luck hun!

Satya - Glad you are feeling a little better. Hope a few days here in freezing cold Melbourne does you both some good.

Timnik - I'm no good with this side of things, but maybe a bit too late to start temping now :( I've been using mayby baby OPK's and HPT's for a while now and found them to be pretty reliable. Hope it works for you!

Megsmum - We are about the same stage this cycle! I'm 8dpo now. Hoping those little signs are what turns out to be a wonderful positive! Good luck!!

A friend of mine had 2 successful pregnancies then later found out she had Lupus (which I have also been tested for!), so it is possible, even though it can make things hard (lets hope its not that anyway!). Hope you get some answers, the not knowing is so frustrating. Let us know how the tests go!

I'm 8dpo, feeling a little crampy but nothing else that jumps out at me (or that I think 'may' be there but it's really my mind working overtime!). Otherwise I feel fine! Trying to keep busy and hope the next few days fly by!

Claire - don't feel guilty about sharing with us your thoughts. I am sure that noone here would begrudge you for being pregnant. Plus you are experiencing all the fears and doubts that we will or have gone through. Sharon - I haven't heard of your ob/gyn - but it must be good to have one that tells it how it is. I cancelled my appt that I was suppose to have in mid May as I am over dr's, and i am procrastinating about whether I should go back to him, or find another one. I hope you stayed snuggled up inside today, it was a miserable kind of day for doing anything and hopefully AF will show up and put you out of your misery. *hugs*

missbelinda77 my ob/gyn basically does the Western Sydney area and has rooms at Blacktown hospital and Baulkham Hills Private hospital. AF turned up this morning.

Well everyone I am now back to CD 1, the good thing is that since I have been O'ing ealier since D&C I will be due to O on a Fri, Sat or Sun night so I hopefully shouldn't have any problems getting DH to BD with me, anyway, will probably check in again after my tests tomorrow. Enjoy a nice lazy sunday everyone.

Still haven't had first AF since d&c (seven weeks this Tuesday) but had a positive on an OPK on Friday (Yay?) - so looks like AF might be a week and a half away... or not? Bah! Anyway, still hoping to be back in here next cycle with you, my lovely understanding friends! The only upside of this whole ordeal is that I've been enjoying sharing some lovely bottles of wine and bubbly with DP, as well as steaks that haven't been cooked to a cinder and fried eggs with soft centres, the occasional real coffee, take away meals... And the "practice" TTC hasn't been too bad either :p
