TTC AFTER Late Loss/Recurrent Miscarriage/ Stillbirth

Berry - sending you lots of :stickyvibesgirl::stickyvibesboy: for this cycle. You never know about premonitions. I was just reading a post in a TTC journal about exactly that and how it was true for one BBer at least. Lots of luck hun :hug:

Bec- I'm from Mackay... how weird. Hope you enjoy the visit. It's been 8 months since I was there last to look after my mum when she had a heart attack - she's doing fine now thank goodness! Enjoy your holiday and the warmer weather.

AFM, having a reasonably quiet day today. Went out for dinner last night to a new restaurant. Very yummy - had a main and a dessert (tarte tartin - I couldn't resist - it's my favourite) so was feeling very content when I got home :D Did the usual Saturday morning things, Farmer's Market, brekkie, visit Ryan with flowers, and then to the fishmongers. Healthy eating plan is going pretty well, though I don't think I've lost any weight but then it's only been a week. Am cooking roast chicken for dinner so I'd better get moving.

Cheryl, I wish that lazy AF would show up already to get the show started!! I can imagine how annoying it is for you. It's like it's holding up everything. But, it will come when your body is on the mend again, and then you might wish it didn't come ha ha. I'm sure you'll know what I mean if you have horrible crampy AFs like me! No seriously, I really hope it comes sooner than later for you hun, and you'll get your BFP soon sweetie :pray:.

I know what you mean about the books on grieving/child loss, I have read so many and they have really helped me along my journey. I have another couple to read.... I think I've bought 10 or something like that! I was so obsessed at one stage and spent hundreds of dollars. So I really hope they help you too hun.

AFM, I am still in my 2WW. My AF is due tomorrow. I have been getting AF symptoms for about a week now. But it was really strange, as just after I O'd on day CD 16/17, I had a lot of strange stabbing pains down there and I was quite crampy around 6 dpo.
My BBs were already sore, but then again 6 days or so after O, it's about a week before AF is due. So I didn't know if these were AF symptoms or I was by some miracle UTD. Like I've said before, I usually DTD around day 13, 14 and 15, so every month I was missing day 16/17 completely. So this time we were like little rabbits when O was detected, so I thought, maybe??????? Anyway, yesterday I had the stangest thing happen. I was in the shower, and washing BBs and then I noticed my nippies (sorry TMI!) had little white spots on them so I squeezed them gently and this semi clear/ whitish liquid came out :redface:. WTF????? I was then speaking to a friend and she said she read somewhere that leaky nippies are either a sign of pg (not likely and you don't get them until the 3rd trimester usually) OR they can leak some weeks after a loss. But it's been 9 months now!! Helloooooooo!!! Don't know what that was about....
Well, if AF arrives tomorrow, I will have to call the IVF nurse and then test for O, and then hopefully 5 days later I will have my FET!!!! So excited now. I hope and pray my little snow bubbie is a little fighter and a little toughie :pray:.

Beata, I hope AF didn't show up today and that you have a little bubba in there. Praying that AF doesn't show :pray:. At least you have the transfer coming up very quickly in case she does.

Thanks for checking up on me! AF still hasn't shown, today is day 29. I am however displaying signs of disturbing aggression and violent tenderncies :rolleyes: which usually means AF is on her way very soon. I seriously have been so horrible today at work (my poor work mates!). I woke up in a crappy mood & now I've cracked it with my DF (for no apparent reason). I'd say it will come tomorrow but it's very odd for me to have a long cycle like this. I think I've only had a 30 or 31 day cycle once in my 39 years. I'm either UTD (doubt it very much) or I'm subconciously stressed about my FET and the AF is just late. I'll let you know tomorrow if it decides to show. If I'm not UTD, I wish it would hurry up as I'd like to get this cycle going!!!

Oh, and I have a blocked ear, one of my friends at work is sick ATM so I'm praying I didn't catch his cold.....:wall:

So Beata, what's happening? Did AF arrive yet? When I fell pg I was really cranky and moody towards the end of my cycle, so I didn't even begin to expect that was I UTD, so you never know... And I have no idea what was going on with the liquid that you discovered in the shower. That didn't happen to me after I lost Ryan, just very sore BBs that eventually went, not in size though :redface: which isn't such a good thing...

If AF has arrived, at least you know you are one step closer to your FET. :dance: Either way, it's good news.

No update from me, just waiting, waiting, waiting....

Still no AF hun, although I have a pretty big headache ATM which usualy is a sure sign of AF on her merry way :( I got a bit crampy this afternoon, but still no sign of it. I bet it will turn up in the middle of the night which is usually the case! Yeah, the leaky nippies were very stange indeed. Before I left the hospital after I lost Joshua, they gave me some tablets to take to stop the milk from coming. My BB were slightly bigger when I was pg but they were never really sore or anything like that. So I thought maybe the leaking was a delayed reaction from my loss maybe? Dunno hun, just can't explain it.
I really hope AF decides to show up soon for you hun, I truly hope and pray for a little miracle for you very soon :pray:

AFM, in the TWW. I am having a week off next week so will be testing on my holiday or AF will arrive. Was hoping to at least enjoy some wine if AF arrives, which won't be until half-way through, kind of annoying :wall: I really hope it doesn't arrive at all, but if it does would like to enjoy a nice wine or two. I am starting to think that it is just never going to happen, I am sure it will, but I just can't believe that it will, if that makes any sense whatsoever - lol. I know I had/have my feeling about this month, but it still feels so unlikely.

Beata, I forgot to say that I am not taking the herbs anymore. Decided to stop once I went to the TCM. She is happy to just do AP at the moment, and wasn't concerned about the length of my LP. If I don't conceive this month, I will chat to her about herbs again next month.

Megan, I really :pray: AF stays away for you hun! And have a few glasses of wine anyway, even if you're UTD it won't matter so early on. I hope you enjoy your holiday and come back to tell us your exciting news! And never think it won't happen hun, because it will and you know it. You're on the right track with AP so it's now just a matter of time. And you did have a good feeling about this cycle, so stick with it and don't let any negative thoughts enter your wee head!!

Well, AF is still not here but today being 2 days late, I got a fancy clear blue digital HPT and again it's a BFN. I rang the IVF clinic and the nurse said that it could be a bit of stress and anxiety before the cycle and because of that, AF can be late.
She said it if doesn't arrive by Monday, we'll have to do a BT to find out what is going on. It's so frasturating as I know I'm not pg, but no AF either! This has never happened to me before :( I think my body is subconsiously stressed and hence AF is staying away. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!! I hate all this waiting! :wall:

Thanks for the encouragement Beata, I am feeling particularly stressed this month, I keep thinking that if it doesn't happen this month I just can't keep doing this :( Re: the alcohol thing, what is the reco on that? I wasn't sure when it could get to the fetus if pg, so didn't want to take the risk. If anyone has any facts on this it would be great to know. It is my wedding anniverary on Friday, 10-years & I would love a champagne :D but again, no risking taking here.

Beata, I hope AF shows up really soon if your not pg, so you can start focussing on the transfer. Have you thought of AP to get things going? I found one session really helped with my CM, so you never know. If there is someone (AP) close to you, it may be worth trying. If you are pg, the AP won't do any harm from my understanding. :pray: for you hun to get through this, your almost there. I can't believe how long you have been waiting, just around the corner now, you so deserve your bubba to come along really soon :pray:

Hi hun, they say it's probalby better to say off the ciggies and drinkies if you're TTC, but then again how many women get pg slightly intoxicated? Much more fun hey? lol.
Seriously, I don't think having a glass of bubbly is going to harm your bubbie even if you get your BFP this month (I so hope so!!!!!). I'm sure many women drink and even smoke right up until they find out they're pg and then stop.. I know of a girl who went to her sister's birthday and got absolutely blind, and then she discovered she was 4 months pg!! OMG.

Congrats on your 10th wedding anniversary sweetie!! I hope you have a fabulous time and a romantic get away! Have that glass of bubbly hun, it is a big occasion and a very special one at that, I'm sure it won't affect anything !

Thanks Beata, I don't smoke, so thats one less thing to worry about, thank goodness - lol. I guess one drink is unlikely to matter. I'll see how I feel. We will still be on holiday when AF is due, so if that happens I'll be enjoying plenty of wines I can assure you :D

Re; the girl who was 4-months pg & got blind before she knew, I am sure that is very common, I have heard of many women who have done a similar thing. I know of a girl that complained of pains & said she was going to the doctor,turned out she was in labour and didn't even know she was pg, hrs later delivered a 7 something pound healthy boy - I'm sure she must have had plently of drinks during that 9-mths and never knew she was pg. Imagine that phone call to your partner!!! :rolleyes: - lol. I would love to wake up one day 9-mth pg and never knew that it all happened - no stress, just a little surprise - ahh bliss :D

AF is here. Met her with both disappointment (cos I'm not pg) and excitement as I am now on a countdown to my FET. I will ring the clinic tomorrow and follow their instructions. I know that I have to track my O time now and go for a blood test when the LH surge is detected.

Aries, welcome to our little support group. It's nice to have some company but the circumstances that you led you to us are heartbreaking. We've all been through this phase that you're at so feel free to jump in and unload when you need to. :hug: It took us 3 years to conceive Ryan only to lose him at 18 weeks, so I understand completely where you are coming from. I had one AF about 6 weeks after I lost him but now I am here waiting for AF to arrive from an anovulatry cycle - I'm CD 55 today! I'm seeing a TCM who has me on herbs and AP to try to get my hormones sorted out.

Beata, sorry to hear that AF arrived but good news that you can get started on your FET this cycle. I really hope that this is successful for you hun, and pray that your little frostie defrosts perfectly :pray: Try to relax and reduce your stress, maybe a nice warm bubble bath?

Megan, ditto for you too hun. Stress is so damaging to our bodies as it keeps us in a heightened state which is so tiring. You need your body to be focussing on other things, like building uterus linings so try to find a way to relax. It sounds like taking leave next week is the perfect way to do that. Congrats on your wedding anniversary. I think you deserve to have a glass of bubbly from all that you have both been through. When I fell pg, we had had a dinner party the weekend before I POAS and we polished off several bottles of wine and I got quite tipsy and didn't seem to cause any problems. Of course, I stopped drinking straight away when I knew I was pg, but I don't think one glass of wine is going to do too much. It's what you do everyday that counts, so be gentle on yourself and if you feel like a glass of wine, go for it and enjoy it! I really hope you get your BFP this time around. :pray:

AFM, well I have had another busy week. Have managed to increase my exercise this week and am feeling better for it. I've even lost some weight, not much (1kg), but it's a start in the right direction. The healthy eating plan is going well. Am having the occasional tea or coffee (instant type so less caffiene) and haven't been interested in any wine so that's good too. DH has cut back on his red wine as well and I am really proud of him that he has managed to stay with it as well because I know he is working hard at the moment doing his and his boss's job and doing lots of travel so he is quite stressed and usually enjoys a couple of glasses of wine at night, but he's been so strong. He's just wonderful. And no complaining about the lack of red meat or the extra veges I'm making him eat, not to mention the supplements and herbs he's taking. Still no sign of AF arriving but to be honest I'm now in a place where I am comfortable with that. I am trying to focus on getting my body healthy and strong and I am sure that once it is ready, AF will arrive. It's only 6 weeks until we go overseas for 5 weeks. I am kind of hoping that we will be back TTC by then. Wouldn't it be great to conceive Ryan's little brother or sister in Paris, or in the Scottish highlands or somewhere else romantic?

Oh, I almost forgot. I had to get an emergency filling done as I managed to crack a tooth on the weekend - ouch! I have to go back for a crown but that can wait until after oversea, yay! :)

Next week we're going to Perth to see DH's family and our friends. We have decided to see our friends who have just had their little boy. We know it will be hard, and we really don't know how either of us will be on the day, but we're looking forward to seeing them and see that it is a necessary part our healing process. We went into BabysRUs last weekend and bought the cutest stuffed elephant for him. We both love elephants and they would have figured prominently in Ryan's nursery if we had set one up so we thought it was fitting.

Anyway, I have a house to clean. Take care all and will pop back in on the weekend.

Hi Cheryl, I agree re the stress thing, so I am trying not to think about it too much, but very difficult. I am very much looking forward to our little break away next week. I also get to see my best friend, so really looking forward to that as well. I had to laugh about you getting tipsy at the dinner party when you conceived Ryan, I can completely understand, with how long it took you guys, you can't put your life completely on hold. But yes, balance is certainly important. Sounds like you and your DH are doing great with your eating plan,well done on losing 1kg, it may not sound like a lot bit in reality it is good amount of fat & I'm sure you'll feel better for it. I really pray that it all helps and that AF shows up very soon :pray: Oochy with your tooth, hope its better. I didn't know you were going OS for 5-wks soon, how fantastic, I really hope you guys fall pg somewhere romantic as well. Its great that you have that to look forward to. All the best visiting your friends with the new baby, it can be difficult, but just do what you feel is right at the time. My sisters both had babies within weeks of me losing mine, one sister in the same week. I was quite happy that they were in another state to be honest as I didn't want to see their babies for a while. I saw them a couple of months later and was ok with it, but it was a little weird, but I got through it ok and I'm sure you will as well. I am sure there will be a jungle full of little elephants in your nursery with your little bubba in no time :hug:

If I can remember, I bleed for about 2-weeks after my loss,(more like spotting towards the end that would come one day and not the next), AF turned up about 3-weeks after that, so it took about 5 weeks in total, but yes you are right we are all different. Have you had a follow-up appointment with your OB or hospital to check that everything is ok?

Really hope AF turns up for you soon hun so you can start ttc. Hang in there, she will turn up sooner or later :hug: Also, don't forget that your will O before AF arrives for the first time again. I know that probably sounds obvious, but it was something I read after my loss and hadn't really consciously thought about.

Cheryl, I'm very impressed with your proactive attitude towards getting fit and healthy and very proud of your DH as well! Way to go you two! Very jealous about your upcoming holiday hun, we went to Poland and Scotland last year in March and it was magic. I too hoped to 'conceive' a bubby o/s as well...LOL, oh well, we had a lot of fun trying and I so hope you make a little bubba in the romantic Scottish highlands!!!

Hoping that July brings some BFP's to this thread :pray: Beata, I don't think your transfer will be until I get back, so I can wish you luck then, but it will be rather close. Give yourself lots of nice little treats to relax ;)

AFM though, I feel like AF is coming, so disappointed already even though she hasn't arrived, but I guess we all know the signs, so a bit deflated. If she does come, when I get back from my holiday I'll be looking into getting proper tests done etc as I can't go on like this, need to be proactive I think.

Megan, I hope you have a great relaxing and romantic week away! Remember, although we do know our bodies like no one else, often women have said that they have felt like AF was on the way and they felt kinda crampy and so on, only to get a BFP! So you never know hun!!! I do hope so :pray:

Hi all, I have so much to catch up on! We've been in the Whitsundays for a week on holidays. Where do you live now Cheryl? We didn't spend much time in Mackay. Went to Airlie Beach for a couple of nights and stayed in a great caravan park with heaps of kids stuff, then Cape Glouchester eco resort for a couple of nights, then Broken River for a night to see that platypuses, then Mackay for a night. We spent lots of time swimming at beaches and in pools, and even went out in a glass bottomed canoe.

Berry, you must be half way though the 2ww now then. Sorry to hear you've got signs, but I'm still crossing everything for you. Happy anniversary. That's tops. Hope the opera and dinner were wonderful. Did you feel any sadness too? I've found myself feeling sad on happy occasions, because they are not as happy as they should be iykwim.

Cheryl, sounds like you are doing so well with your healthy eating and exercise! I hope your body rewards you very soon. Great to hear that your DH has been so encouraging.
All the best with seeing your friend's little boy. I have quite a few babies around me and sometimes it is more ok than other times so if you are there for a while maybe you can be flexible and visit on a day when you are feeling strong. I'm like you and see it as necessary to not always avoid the babies, but that doesn't mean it's not painful. Look after yourself. Maybe if you do have a set time to visit you could make sure you have some quiet time to yourselves after that in case you need it. The elephant sounds perfect - what a sweet friend you are!

Beata, glad AF made up her mind so you know where you're at and can focus on your FET next month.

Aries, welcome, though it's a welcome with mixed feelings. So sorry to hear about Alexander. The long wait to conceive would only have added to your heartbreak. It took us about a year and that was bad enough. Hope your TTC journey is much shorter this time around. I got AF three weeks after giving birth. I think that is unusually quick though.
I like the bit in your sig about taking the positives out of a negative situation. One book I read described that as the salvage from the wreckage which I thought sounded about right. I have a few - being able to talk to people about their friends and family who have died is a big one, and I've also lost weight. Do let yourself cry when you need to, though.

AFM, O time in a couple of days so need to drag DH away to bed :)

Berry, Just wanted to agree with Beata, When I got my BFP I felt like AF was on her way too. I almost fell in the toilet when I saw the two lines come up.

Bec - I'm in Canberra now. Glad to hear that you had such a lovely time away. You sound very relaxed and calm. A relaxed Bec and DH and O just around the corner - wow! Sounds like great baby making stuff! Hope you get your BFP soon!

Megan - hope you have a great holiday this week, and here's hoping that you have some good news to tell us when you get back :pray: And your anniversary dinner and opera sounds very sophisticated! Glad you had such a great time.

Hi Teagz, thanks for popping in to see where we're at.

Aries - I bled for about 5 weeks after losing Ryan, which resulted in me being anaemic. I had to have a D&C at week 4 because of some RPOC (I hate that term!) which was causing bleeding and cramping. I got my period at about week 6. I'm CD58 today on cycle #2, so things aren't really settled for me at all. Hoping that TCM and AP will sort things out soon. My ob told me that my AF should arrive at 6 to 8 weeks after the D&C, but it was much sooner than that for me. It does seem to be different for everybody.

AFM, have been very busy. Quick visit from SIL who had to attend a funeral at short notice this morning so she arrived late last night. It was good to see her and we stayed up very late talking about Ryan and IVF, etc. She has a friend who did 6 IVF cycles with really poor results. Only managed one egg collected each time. They then tried AP and a healthy eating plan similar to what we are on - no alcohol or caffiene, lots of wholegrain foods, minimal red meat and she is now 26 weeks pg! So that gives me a lot of hope.

Also, Friday and Saturday I had some EWCM. Not stacks but certainly very stretchy which I don't usually have, usually only the watery kind (sorry if TMI) so we took advantage ;). I am hoping that maybe I have O'd really, really, really late. But I am also being realistic that with everything so mucked up that we probably don't have much hope of a BFP, but I guess it's a bit like winning lotto, you gotta be in it to win :D

Anyway, we're off to WA tomorrow night for 6 days. I'm really looking forward to the break. But I had better get to bed because I'm exhausted and have AP and chiro tomorrow before going to the airport!

Cheryl, just wanted to say have a great time away. And EWCM has to be a good sign of some sort of hormone action surely! Even if it's not ovulation, it may be a sign of your cycles returning. :crossfingers:

AFM, I ovulated early. Temperature rise this morning. So really not much BD after all. I'm just telling myself once is all you need! If it doesn't happen this cycle I think I'll buy one of those Maybe Baby things.

Hopefully you got a sticky one this cycle! GL hun. On the topic of ovulation kits, I've tried Maybe Baby and you suppose to put a bit of saliva on the lens and then this light shines on it and when you see a distinct fern pattern, you're most fertile. Except, I saw this fern pattern almost every day, so I never knew when I ovulated. I have heard though that it did work for another girl I know. Maybe it's just me....:rolleyes:

I used the clear blue ovulation thingie last month and it was fantastic, but expensive. You get 7 sticks to test, and when you're about to 'O', you get a happy face so there is no guessing if you've got that second line or not (just like on a HPT). I paid $50 for it, but shop around as they are usually $70.

The other ovulation kits are around $15-25, and you read them like a HPT. When you see the second line (I think it must be comparable or darker than the test line???) you are about to 'O'.

Good luck hun, I hope you get your BFP and you won't need these!

I know I'm on holiday but wanted to quickly drop in to say I got a huge surprise this morning when I got a BFP :dance::dance::dance: Didn't expect it in the least as I really thought AF was on her way, but lo and behold there was that beautiful second line. Feeling very excited and also nervous as I go through those fragile first few weeks.

I really pray that others join me soon :pray: Thank you to all of your for your well wishes, it certainly means a lot and you are the first to know our happy news :loveshower:

Berry!!! I've got tears in my eyes hearing your wonderful news. That's just the best.

Beata, thanks for telling me about the different ovulation test options. Very very helpful as I had no idea. My CM was a bit more obvious this month but still hard to rely on for timing (and probably hard to rely on for fertility too unfortunately).

AFM About half way through the TWW. No spotting as yet. Went and saw the natural fertility woman again and she said my last cycle was fertile despite the spotting. Timed BD much better this month so hopefully...

Had a cry today when I heard that my friend's daughter just lost her little boy. She was due at the end of this month. I feel so sad when I hear about another woman going through this. I gave him all kinds of unsolicited advice about support from SANDS and SIDS and Kids, creating memories, and what he should and should not do and say! I just couldn't help myself. I've never met her but I'm hoping he'll give me her address so I can send a card. A friend of a friend of my sister's did that for me just after Luca died and it meant a lot because we didn't know anyone who had had a stillbirth.

Thank you Bec for your welcome - it means alot. Taking the positives is the only way I can deal with this at the moment. My biggest thing that I have learnt is that DH & I feel as though we can do ANYTHING now.... My goodness I thought we were strong and in love before - it feels as though our love has deepened 100%. Gosh that sounds corny when you read it back! Hopefully you know what Im getting at!!

AFM - I have ovulated so AF shouldnt be far away.... if we havent caught the eggie ;)
