Personally I'd go to the ABA for support. Karitane have a vested interest in getting you onto their formula, when at 12 months she won't be needing it. I've called the ABA helpline a few times and found them fantastic, and very non-judgmental.

ETA: Hang on, Karitane aren't the formula ones are they? Might leave it to someone who knows lol. Good luck with it though, weaning is not easy

Not in my experience. I guess they may ask you your reasons, but from what contact I've had they're supportive the whole way along. If weaning is proving difficult they may be able to suggest ways to do it gradually, with pumping and reducing certain feeds at a time and how to do it. I would hope that you're not made to feel guilty, but if one option doesn't work or you're not agreeing with it you can try others.

Mate, if you call saying you want advice/support on weaning then that is what you'll get. Promise.

And yes, they will probably ask about your situation and reasons, but only because this is relevant to the information they give you.

That's Karicare, which after a quick google to make sure I was right, turns out to have originated in a town called Karitane. So there we go...

Anyway, I think you'd do well to call the ABA for weaning advice, they're very non-judgemental

A friend went for help with sleep and night weaning - she found them helpful

Ah whoops, yeah sorry we don't have them in SA and I confused them with Karicare lol.

Like I said, I didn't call ABA for weaning, it was more feeding/sleeping related early on and they were brilliant. I saw them at the baby expo when I signed up my membership and had a great chat to them - my understanding is that they're there the entire way, very beginning to weaning. I did call them when I got pregnant again because it was so painful - I did consider stopping and never felt guilty while on the phone. They've been a fantastic help. And MadB would definitely know how it works
