Go ahead and put it on yourself PZ! I wouldn't think anything of someone organising their own. Some people just aren't organisers, they might all love to come and enjoy the day but just not be the take over and organise type. Maybe they're all assuming someone else is doing it and didn't want to interfere. You could even start the ball rolling then delegate duties around. :goodluck: I hope either way you get the day you'd like xx

I've never had one either - and yes I had have and sometimes I still feel sad about it.
Of my best and closest girlfriends, none of them have children either by choice or it just hasn't happened - so I guess they don't think of it and I've always felt like maybe they would have their own personal reasons for not wanting to attend.
My friends that do have kids - kids are generally same age as my eldest about 10 yrs old.... So they have finished having kids and I think baby showers would be the last thing on their minds (that's what I've always thought anyway).
I'm sad I didn't have one this time, I'm still feeling sad I'll never be pregnant again, that I won't have any more children - but that's probably post preg hormones and blues more than anything..
Go for it - throw the kind of party you want to have and invite people who will appreciate it and celebrate with you.

I would definitely throw something for yourself. It's a fantastic opp to catch up with people & have some yummy food & just an afternoon with the girls to chat 'babies' & stuff.
I just had one on Sunday - no games or anything, just lovely food & champers /wine & was great to see my friends & chat/relax & feel a bit special too.I wouldnt think twice if someone threw a gathering for themself.
Most friends will ask if they can bring something to help aswell.

Although I don't regret not having one... I am miffed. A friend of mine offered to do one for me and I agreed, but then she never did anything. I got all excited that someone wanted to do something nice for me and she didn't, she just liked the idea of a babyshower and did nothing about it.
I didn't want presents, I just wanted people to want to spend time with me and maybe even talk baby.
I never got one. It was organised, but I had my DD really early and we weren't sure she would make it home.
No one else "rescheduled" it for me either, even though I'd said a good time for it was probably welcoming her home. She came home, but I was disappointed to find nothing had been planned by my family or friends.
Now I cant go to any baby showers without thinking "oh, this is what I missed out on"... Puts a real downer on the situation!

I didn't have a baby shower with any of my three! Not my thing either.. I have organised them and been to them but I just didn't want one. We didn't have an engagement party either...lol I obviously don't like the attention to be on me :)
:rofl: But that's what I was getting at PZ maybe it just hasn't occurred to anyone :) Not because they don't want to, but just because they don't know they should. Or they think it's someone else's job.:
