Yeah, sounds nuts!! We paid $550 3 years ago. That was a Sat wedding, I think we had two meetings beforehand as well as lots of email communication and a rehearsal the week before.

A few years ago i was looking into celebrants in my area and she had written that she charges anywhere from $400 to about $4000 something about getting in early and booking early. I was like wowzers which i guess is why i haven't pushed for getting married!
We paid $760 which was expensive, it was 7 years ago he was young and someone we could relate to. The other quotes we got we for $350 to $400.
I think we paid $300
$650 three years ago. Included a rehearsal, paperwork, lodgement, help designing ceremony and her PA system. She was considered pricey then but she was classy. We later had her as celebrant for our sons' funerals as she was so lovely.
Did the quote include her inclusions in writing? That's a ridiculous price, unless, as suggested, it's a typo.
We paid $300 three years ago and that was for two meetings, travel, PA, document lodgement etc......$3500 certainly sounds excessive.
Wow, that is over the top! We paid about $450, 5 years ago. My uncle got married 2 years ago and paid about the same.
My lovely former boss was our celebrant, he only charged us the legals (fees for paperwork submission) but usually charges $525, which includes PA, rehearsals, travel, meetings/contacts to discuss and design ceremony - pretty well everything. Definitely excessive if they're asking $3500
married last June... our celebrant cost us $550 and she was awesome. The research I had done said celebrants cost about 400-1000 on average... but we had a habit of going for the first thing we found... (worked for celebrant / venue / photographer / pretty much the dress / flowers etc
$400 got us the service on the day and two meetings prior, and all paperwork sorted out and lodged. He was a wonderful man who did a beautiful job (and carried tissues for me in his pocket :D)
$3500 is crazy. That was over half way for paying for our reception with 70 guests to try and put it into perspective.
$350 for us that included everything that ws 5 years ago.
Wow!!!
Cost us $700 in a Anglican church last July.
Thanks for the replies - glad to hear it wasn't just me that was shocked by the numbers!
I've got some more quotes back and they are much for reasonable - so I'm feeling a lot better about everything again lol
I emailed her about the price being much higher than other quotes, and just checking it wasn't a typo and I haven't heard back again :dunno:

My cousin charges $400-500 depending on the day/time etc.
3500 sounds crazy expensive!
we paid less than $200 six years ago - with the most sought after celebrant in the area! she had become so busy she only took on clients she'd dealt with previously (she'd been the celebrant to do my grandfathers funeral). that included everything. from what her niece has said, she was up to about $500 for the very rare ceremony's she did just before she passed away.
hopefully, if she is someone you really want, she can let you know why it's so expensive! or at least say "sorry, it was a typo"!!
We paid $450. That was all the paperwork, she had to travel 2 hours.
She was great.
we paid $350, but that was over 5 years ago.
