Hi girls,
thanks for your words of sympathy. The mastitis is under control. Boob still sore and a little reddish but nowhere near as painful as it was. A few more days of Thomas drinking off it and the penicillin and it should be right. Gall bladder....hmmmm not so sure of.
Saw the GP today (6 week check up) and filled him in on my last few days as he was not my admitting dr and hadn't caught up on the fact I was in hospital (he was a bit sad too, 'cause he said he would have come to visit!!) Anyway, he told me that after my ultrasound on Friday, we would review results and see what course to take. If I had gallstones, and I want the symtoms and pain to stop, then the only option is to remove the gall bladder via keyhole surgery (as a couple of you girls have rightly said). Otherwise I have to put up with the pain. However, pain gets so bad that I need peth injections, so........
But, results may come back showing that there are no gallstones, so it may be just a nerve thing or referred pain from the boob or something else entirely which we will have to figure out.
I asked him whether removing the gall bladder was absolutely necessary as you are born with it, surely you need it for something. He said that they no longer blast gallstones as that can be worse than having the stones int he first place as the fragments can get in the bile duct and he said that there is no such thing as dissolving gallstones (big ones are cholesterole based and will reduce with medication but will return; small gall stones are calcium formed and will not reduce with any medication). He also mentioned that we are born with appendix but don't really need them (can't argue with that; had mine removed).
Interestingly, he also mentioned that gall bladder problems affect women more than men and generally when they loose a large amount of weight - hence why a lot of new mums have gall bladder problems (also women who were very overweight and have been dieting). The midwives had already mentioned to me that they see a lot of newly delivered mums (around the 5 - 10 weeks mark) present with gall bladder problems, thought they didn't know why.
So I guess I wait and see what the u/s says, but I'm not keen on another op...if I need one, I think I'll wait till I HAVE to go!!!
Slept most of today - still feel a bit rank. But 100% better than Saturday.
Off to the OB tomorrow for our 6 week check up. he hasn't seen me since I was 36 weeks pg as he took off overseas just before my c-section and had to get a collegue to do it for him. I'm sure he'll be thrilled to see Thomas after everything that we have been through together! I can't wait for him to meet my baby!
Megan, in answer to AF arriving, I don't have her yet, but did have a tinge of blood the past 2 days. Thought I might be getting it, but nothing yet. Maybe next month??? I honestly thought I wouldn't get a period for about 4- 6 months because I was breastfeeding. Didn't realise it might come sooner.
Brooke - awwww, poor Maya with her needles. Thomas is coming up for his in 2 weeks and DH has already said he is not going to come as he couldn't stand him cyring. What about me!!
Who had the b&w professional photos done?? I just purchased our baby photos taken at the hosptial and got a complimentary b&w mum and baby sitting. We are going next week. And I like the photos that I saw (sorry, who is it???) that I am keen to copy them (ie have Thomas in the nude). hope that's ok?
Hi to all. Sounds like we are a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to sleeping; some all night, others not much at all. Thomas is in the middle. Mainly sleeps for 4 hr blcoks still so at least I'm only getting up once in the dead of night.
Well, must push off. hope all are well.

Morning,
Brooke - I just had a look at Maya's website and signed the guestbook. The photos are great and she is beautiful. You have got me motivated to put more on Amy's website now. Poor Maya getting her needles but she was so brave. Amy has hers soon and we are only getting the one combo that does everything. It doesn't have a live polio and it will cost us $117 but it is less needles. Hope you had a good night watching Dan play.
Deb - Hope you got some sleep last night your poor thing. It does get better soon.
Hayseed - So glad you are feeling better. From what my SIL went through with the gallstone pain, she was glad she had the op to remove her gall bladder. She lost 10kg prior to pg and had to have a strict low fat diet after.
Megan - Finlay sounds like he is going well and he is a good boy for sleeping through the night. Wow 12 hrs that is amazing! Yes AF for me and it is really heavy.
Juliette - I hope you are doing ok today. I will have a look for that book today, sounds interesting.
Have you got the baby bonus yet? We got ours about two weeks ago. Finished our budget yesterday, just makes you realise how many bills there are when they are written down. Getting a $7k bonus from work in Sept so looking forward to that. We are off to get some photos done today. Catch up with you all later.

Just a quick update on us. I've read all the posts, just can't remember who said what!
Well Makenzie is now on formula. She is definitely doing much better - more settled, sleeping better, happier when she's awake etc. I feel a bit sad as I b/f my two boys for 13 months and 8 months. Obviously my milk wasn't sufficient for whatever reason, despite doing things to improve it. I started comp feeding and then a few days ago stopped giving breast (plus she'd lost interest in it even more). I am still expressing a couple of times a day, just so I don't get mastitis (just getting over that last episode) and am gradually decreasing how much I am expressing each time. I feel so much better myself now too, as I know she's getting enough milk and also I can get some sleep as I can go to bed at like 8.30 or so and DH will give Makenzie her late evening feed so I can get 6 or so hours straight.
She's still not sleeping through the night though. She does have days where she goes 6 hours or more between a feed but it hasn't sort of happened in the middle of the night yet. She had a bottle at 6.30pm last night and then DH came to bed about midnight as she hadn't woken, and then she woke about 12.30 for a feed then again at 4.30am. She was very overtired yesterday though as she would not go to sleep, she was fighting it so hard. But overall she is much better and we don't get the constant crying/colic/screaming like when I was b/f.
She hasn't had her needles yet. I have to book her in for next week.
Oh no, gotta go, Cooper's on an excursion and they just called to say he's really, really sick and to go pick him up.
-
Lisa - Oh no poor cooper i hope he is ok. Im glad to hear that everything has gotten better with Miss Makenzie since you have started only formulae feeding. It must be hard to let go of the breast but you as her mother know what is best for her and her obvious change shows that for some reason the boob wasnt doing it for her.
Gemma - we are also getting hendrix the all in one immunisation shot. We are having it done on monday and DH also cant come as he has to work, but my dad is giving it to him (as he is a gp) so it will be like having someone with me.
Hayseed - i hope that the u/s on friday shows whats up and that there will be a simple solution to the problem.
Deb - i really hope that your sleep situation gets better soon. I went back on your site and looked up the new shots. I showed my DH and he was also really entertained. Alexander really is a handsome boy!!
Brooke - hope you had an awesome night out. What does Dan call himself when he is DJing.
Well bless Hendrix's little cotton socks!! He slept 9.5 hours last night from 7pm till 4:40am and had a drink then went back to sleep till 8am. I really am feeling so well rested but am waiting for this pattern to change. But fingers crossed it stays like this for a little longer.
Im going to get a massage today ( a gift i received when hendrix was born) and am so excited. I havent left Hendrix yet so this is my first hour away in 7.5 weeks. Mike is taking him on an outing while i go and he is due for a feed at that time so he will have a bottle of EBM will be intersting to see how he goes.
Will catch up later
-
Hi everyone,
Just a quick post. How is it that life is so busy? I was never this busy when I was working... well I was it was just a different sort of busy.
Thanks to those for asking, my milk problems have now all gone. In fact I had to stop taking the Fenugreek after only 4 capsules - 48 hours. I had so much milk Blake was choking on it and my bb's were exploding! Now, 48 hours later it's settled back to 'normal' and we're feeding beautifully.
Lisa, I'm glad you're sorted Makenzie's feeding out. I know how you feel about b/fing as that's how I was starting to feed when I was having problems. At least Makenzie is so much happier, and that's a good thing all around. I love all the photos of her on her website. I think I better make sure I take more of Blake cause they change so quickly and they you miss it!
Gemma you are so organised with your budget, and lucky you for getting a $7K bonus. Is that with your new job or the current job you had? Have you had your interview yet? How did it go?
Just thought I'd mention that Kmart have 20% off toys this week, starting today. I was umming and ahhing about getting the Fisher Price Kick and Whirl Carnival yesterday but didn't. But now with 20% off I'm going down to get it! (brings it back to about $62. Gotta be happy with that!)
Have a great day, I'm off shopping
-
Hey everyone!
It's been ages since I've posted in here. Have been so busy lately and for some reason Kynan always seems to wake just when I've logged into BB LOL. And can you believe in another week Kynan will be 3 months old so I'll be moving on to the 3-6mnth thread! He's growing up so quickly!
Fantastic that more bubs are sleeping better now! Sounds like there are a fair few who are sleeping through the night (or close to it!). Hope the other bubs aren't far behind!
Hayseed, OMG you've had a bit of a rough trot lately haven't you! Glad to hear things are a bit better for you though, and fingers crossed you won't need an op for the possible gall bladder thing.
Lisa, glad to hear Makenzie is doing better! Hope Cooper's okay.
Heather, hope you enjoyed that massage! How did Hendrix go with the bottle of EBM? DH has tried Kynan on EBM several times now but he won't take the bottle. He'll have a few sucks just to take the edge off his hunger and then won't have any more LOL.
Kate, that's a lovely pic of Kelsey on your ticker! How much does she weigh now? Hope she starts putting on more soon!
Brooke, bummer about missing your mothers group. That's a silly time to have it though, 10am! My MG just started on Tuesday at 2pm - much better time for it! Gorgeous pics on your site... Maya is sooo cute! Have you tried giving Maya a massage after her bath... dunno if that might help her sleep more?
Well Kynan's still sleeping well, 11-13hours for about 2 weeks now I think it is. He's having a lot less feeds because he sleeps so long so maybe I'll get AF back soon and we can really start TTC again. CHN reckons it shouldn't be long before I'm ovulating again so fingers crossed!
Better go... little munchkin's awake LOL.
-
Hi,
Welcome back Angel, it is great Kynan is sleeping 11-13 hours you must be so pleased and rested! I ovulated about 2 weeks ago and AF is heavy but so happy that she has returned so soon. IKWYM about logging on to BB, Amy is the same they seem to know.
Brooke - Glad you had a good night out watching Dan, I'm sure he would have loved it too. Holding mothers group at 10am doesn't make much sense, ours starts at 2-4pm. Hope you caught up on your sleep! We are also trying to adjust Amy's sleep pattern, she doesn't like to sleep much during the day and still has a 11pm and 2am. Have you tried cluster feeding 2 hourly in the afternoon to build up the calories for night? Maybe start the extra feeds a bit earlier?
Kate - Have you spoken to your OB or GP about TTC in 6 months? I have my follow up Ob appointment next week and I will ask him then. I actually didn't think seriously about it until Hayseed mentioned 6 months. We conceived on our first try so we both have to be sure next time, still trying to convince DH but is is loving being a daddy. He is making jokes that our kids will be in the same grade at school! It's great that Kelsey is smiling. You are doing a great job balancing her food and I hope she puts on more weight soon.
Rachel - Glad to hear you milk is good now and Blake is feeding well. We bought the Kick and Whirl last week at full price!! Hope you had fun shopping. My interview went well and it was for a promotion. The bonus is for the work I did in the last financial year. Should find out in a few weeks if I got the promotion. We still have to catch up, our streets are walking distance from each other.
Heather - That's great that your dad can give Hendrix the shot. Hope you enjoyed your massage today, what a great present.
Lisa - I hope Cooper is okay. I was only bf for about 10 days and expressing for only 3 weeks (only 10-20ml each time had a breast reduction years ago so not much milk). I didn't take anything to dry up the milk and still have a few drops when I express in the shower and have not had any problems, but your supply is probably better then mine was. Amy is doing well on formula. You will love the extra sheep with your DH doing the night feed.
Anyone been to Pixi Photos??We had a session with our 'free' photo coupon I was given while shopping in K-Mart. She took some beautiful shots and said that will be $400 for the package which I was not expecting. Thought it would be about $100 and should have looked into it. Will have to see how they turn out.
Chat tomorrow, Amy is asleep can you tell by my post?! Bye :)
-
Hi All! I'm off to Brissy tomorrow, so I don't know if I'll be online again 'til I get back on Tuesday next week. By then my little darling will be 3 months! I can't believe it! Her 3 month birthday is on Sunday.
Anyhow! I have to make this short...I am trying to put her down to sleep...she's still grizzling. Fingers crossed she sleeps tonight because I have a long drive ahead of me in the morning...
Hope everyone is well!!! See you in the next thread when you get there!
-
Jules, drive safely....can't wait to see you and Hannah again on Saturday! Good luck with your studying tomorrow.
-
Morning girls
Juliette - have a great trip and see you in the next thread in about a months time!!
Gemma - im glad your interview went well. Fingers crossed for that promotion.
Brooke - my mothers group was at ten also!! We have finished the formal meets now and are meeting ourselves from monday onwards but still early - im with you on sleep over socialising!! Im meeting with my other mothers group today and we sensibly meet for lunch at 1pm.
Kate - you can tell shane that mike really didnt want to go away. He took our digital camera with him so that he could look at his little man!! Very cute. When he came home i got a quick kiss and then he went straight to hendy and didnt leave him all day. I hope that little Kelsey starts gaining a bit more weight, hopefully the poor little darlings reflux starts to go away in the near future. I love the picture on your ticker!! Beautiful.
Well my massage was bliss!! The massage therapist was so nice as it was a voucher for an hour massage and she gave me an hour and a half!! I was in heaven but secretly was looking forward to seeing hendrix!!
My next time away will be Saturday 3rd as we have a hens night!! woo hoo!! im so looking forward to it and again mike and hendy are spending the night together which mike is really looking forward too.

Welcome to Layla and Sarah!
Happy 1 month to Dion and Sarah. :)
-
Welcome Layla and sarah - look forward to learning more about you guys!!
-
Brooke, I recall thinking a weeks or so ago that your mums group seemed early int he day for new mums! By 10am I'm not even dressed most mornings! My mums group is at 2pm which I think is much more civilised. Our MCHN purposely made it at that time to get more new mums to attend.
Hayseed

Welcome Vanita and Dion and Layla and Sarah.
Layla, my friend's baby had to wear a harness too as she was breech. She got used to it and it didn't worry her much. First it was 24hrs a day then only at night. She doesn't have to wear it now and she is 9 months old. Hope Sarah is going well.
Hayseed, that's a gorgeous photo of Thomas on your ticker!
Heather, you are so lucky with the massage, I want one!
-
Howdy all,
Welcome to Vanita and Dion, Layla and Sarah! Congratulations! How quickly that first month flies! \:D/
Heather - how envious I am of your massage. My DH is changing jobs and finishes his current job next week and has a week off before starting his new one. I've already mentioned it to DH that I want to get a massage that week. :D
Juliette - hope you have a safe trip. (I know you've already gone, but travel safe all the same)
Kate - I hope Kelsey's colic is giving her less trouble. Poor little love (and poor you too.) Hayseed's tips on nappy changing sound good. We used to have a low profile pillow on our change table for our DD as she had all those problems too. Fortunately Blake is not colicy or chucking like Viv did.
Gemma - You're right, we really do have to get together. Mind you, this wet weather is not so good for going for a walk together. Perhaps we should meet at Knox as you suggested. Are you still planning to go to the meet next Wednesday? Perhaps we can plan our next catch up then. Fingers crossed for your bonus. Always a good thing. Also fingers crossed for your promotion! Keep us posted.
Angel - I am so envious of Kynan's sleeps. Blake currently feeds 2am, 6am, 10am, 2pm, 5pm, 8pm. It's not too bad as he goes 6 hours between the 8pm and 2am. The only problem is if I stay up late I really feel the lack of sleep (so I don't do it too often!)
Brooke - I wish I could suggest more to help you get Maya's sleep pattern sorted out. I guess perserverence is the key, and making sure you recognise her tired signs and acting on them before she gets too tired. Having said that, Blake doesn't get a lot of sleep between 3pm and 8pm. Because we have the school pick up I have to wake him from his 2pm after feed snooze to put him in the car, get DD from school. He might snooze for an hour once we're home, but he's well awake by 5pm and that's why I brought that feed early instead of it being 6pm. From that 5pm feed he again snoozes but is not generally getting much sleep until I give him his 8pm feed when he guzzles then falls asleep nearly in my arms. At this stage I'm happy for it to be like this cause I know the routine. It's always tricky when they change it, although if he slept through like Kynan I wouldn't complain, although my BB's might!
We had a pretty good day yesterday. MCHN in the morning. Blake put on 330g in the fortnight and is now 5730g. It's remarkably less the the previous fortnight which was 590g, but considering the feeding problems, I'm happy he even put on at all!
I spoke to the MCHN about whether I would be invited to join a mother's group but she said they are 'first' mothers groups. Even though DD's 8yo and things have changed heaps in the world of babies, she took some pursuading for me to be able to attend. Mind you the next one starts in September that she has 'wait listed' me for, or she said I could join in the October one. Geez Louise! Blake will be 3months by October, what's the point!!!! Fortunately I spoke to a girlfriend who goes to a playgroup at the centre where my DD used to do kinder. I know quite a few mums who go to the playground with kids of varying ages. The gf will be going there too after her baby is born in October. I was also told of the ABA coffee morning at the same centre on Tuesdays. I think I'll stick my head in there next week if it all comes together and meet some mums there too.
I also bought Blake the Kick and Whirl yesterday from Kmart. I picked up DD from school and we played with the Polly Pocket I bought her (didn't want to make her feel she was missing out if I was just buying something for Blake). Then we started putting it together (the K&W). But buy the time I'd finished Blake was sleeping, then it was cranky time when he was overtired. It's now 1pm, I've had it for 24 hours and he still hasn't played with it!!! We were out this morning seeing a friend before she goes to Singapore for 2 weeks holiday, and when we got home Blake was sleeping (not that I'm complaining about that)
In fact, before he wakes I might have a snooze myself!
Hope you all have a good afternoon and a great weekend.
-
Gemma, I've seen the pixi photo display pics at their stalls in the shops and they look gorgeous. That's great that you got some beautiful ones of Amy. I always said I wouldn't get any done as I reckon they're such a rip off (having done professional photography myself) but I'm so tempted now as they look great LOL. When do you get your pics?
Juliette, have fun in Bris! Will catch up with you in the 3-6m thread when you get back!
Heather, woohoo for the extra long massage! Sounds like it was soooo relaxing.
Vanita & Layla, welcome!!
Rachel, that's great that you have found a playgroup to go to. Has Blake had a go at the Kick & Whirl yet? They sound quite popular... I might have to check them out on the weekend.
I've just been taking pics of Kynan. I've got him in a little fuzzy outfit with ears... Sooooo cute!!
-
Angel - would you believe he's fallen asleep on the blanket I put down for him at the K&W before he even had a play?! Poor boy! Must be tired! Took a photo and will put it on his website later on!
With regards to the Pixie Photos/Portrait Place photos, I got them done for my DD every 6 months when I was offered the freebie or $5 photo offer. Only on one occasion did I buy additional photos. I've always been really good at picking the best pose when they ask which one I want as the free pic. Mind you Viv's quite photogenic and nearly every photo is gorgeous. However even with the budget restraints, it means I still get a gorgeous low-cost photo!
And I've been fortunate to get an offer from both Pixie and Portrait Place so I will get on shot with both kids and one with just Blake.
-
Hi girls,
wow this kick and whirl thing sounds quite good! I don't know what you are talking about so I'll hop ont he web and have a look.
Just came back from mums group where we discussed infant/toddler illnesses. Every time the MCHN mentioned one of them (say chicken pox, foot/hand/mouth disease, slap face, glue ear, fever etc..) she would end by saying, "this is common, one of the babys out of this gorup will get it". Sheesh.
Poor Thomas - today I have had him in and out of the car and the poor tyke has not had a decent sleep all day. We don;t have a capsule (we have a convertible car seat) and he wakes up every time I put him in or take him out of the car.
On the up side, he has put on 280gms this week, which is terrific considering we have both had routines upset and been in hospital with mastitis. He now weighs 4440gms or about 9lb 12 and a half oz.
Ohhhhh, how do they know when we are on BB?? He was just asleep, but now he's crying.....
Just quickly though, Layla, a friend of mine had a breech baby 5 weeks before Thomas and her baby is also in a brace because of hip displaysia. She is finding it all very difficult to cope with especially because poor Hannah hates the brace. The baby won't settle, sleep for long periods of time, and changing her bum is a nightmare. While I was in hospital, my friend came in for a day to go through some settling techniquews with one of the midwives because she was only getting 1 hour sleep out of the baby at a time and then couldn't get her back down for a couple more hours.
Hope you are faring better....
Hayseed

Well im just on quickly this morning while hendy and mike are still in bed together (wont be long as DH has to go to work).
Kate - he didnt need to have a bottle in the end as my feeds just worked perfectly around the massage, which was good as i can save the EBM for a couple of weeks for the hens night. IKWYM about the boys and their babies. Mike just cant stop telling hendrix how much he loves him!! Its bliss to hear it isnt it??
Hayseed - I so so understand on the convertible carseat!! I understand the benefits of a capsule too, but we had bought the carseat so you cant waste it can you?? Wished id hired a capsule though.
Brooke - sounds like your having a busy weekend! Have a great time. Are you taking Maya with you??
-
Morning,
Brooke - Cluster feeding is moving the feeds closer together. It working with Amy and we are feeding 2 hourly in the afternoon and she is sleeping better at night. She is asking for 2 hrly feeds so we are not really changing her to suit us. With the Pixi photos, the cost is $1,027 and they said that they are only charging $400 because the photos are pre-printed. Still not convinced to pay it but will see what they look like. Enjoy the expo, I was in hospital with Amy when it was on in Melb. Will have to go next year.
Amy wants to get up for a feed, be back soon to catch up with everyone else...
-
Brooke - I am about 1/2 hr out of Melbourne and might be back at work in Nov but can take the day off. We should organise a BB meet up. Wow at Maya sleeping so long! The Pixi photos are a good size enlargement and 4 smaller ones. She took 9 good shots so there are lot of photos for $400.
Kate - I was reading throught the reflux posts last night. Amy has been crying instead of feeding a few times lately but I thought it was the teat. She also spits milk fairly often too but is never upset when doing it. I will read through the posts again as she may have reflux but I'm not sure. I hope the Zantac works for Kelsey. I will let you know what my OB says next week, I am 34 so that's why I want to have another soon. Thanks for the congrats for the bonus. Have a great family day today.
Hayseed - Thomas is doing well. My friend's baby got used to the brace she wore for hip displaysia. She cried when it went on but then she was okay.
Rachel - I'm sure Blake will enjoy his K&W soon. Amy hasn't had a play either. Good idea to take the freebie!
Angel - We pick up the pics on 2 Sept. Will have to check the pics of Kynan in the cute suit if you put them on your website.
Heather - Isn't is so sweet when baby can have some time in bed with their dad?
I joined the BB weight loss thread so it will help me to stay on track with the weight loss. Have a great weekend.
-
Good one Jessalyn! :)
Just a quick post, as i should/ need to sleep.
I had one good day this week, but things are still difficult for poor alexander. He really is so needy, just wants to be in my arms all the time and he is so miserable at times because of the colic. I am building some strong arm muscles, so I guess that's better than going to the gym LOL.
I think the medicine (Mylicon) is helping him to pass the wind, but he is still fussing, so who knows!
Kate - alexander still enjoys sucking my finger, but we got him a dummy to give me a break now and then! He also sucks his hand to calm himself. Hope that Kelsey is well, they say that at 6 weeks they have a growth spurt, so perhaps next week we will see a bigger weight gain. alexander hasn't put on much in the last couple of weeks either but he looks great and his GP says he's thriving.
Thanks for the supportive words from you all. Great to hear some of you are continuing to get long sleeps. also fabulous that you can meet up in RL (real life). Gotta love the power of the internet in getting people together...(DH and I met over the internet!)
Welcome Vanita amd Layla and bubs! :D
Hayseed - hope you're okay and your health improves soon.
I think AF visited ever so briefly this week. But hardly worth mentioning as it was just for 1 day.
Should go..already spent longer than I should here!
-
Hi Shannon, welcome back to sunny Melbourne. LOL at poor little Jessalyn! That was a funny story but I'm sure she didn't think so.
Deb - Hope you catch up on your sleep, glad the medicine is helping Alexander.
-
Sheesh,
having a bit of a hiccup with brestmilk supply on the side affected by mastitis. Funny thing though, is that it has been fine up to last night and I noticed a definate "softening" of that breast coming up to a feed. I am due to feed off it in about 3 hrs and it is very soft and "unmilk" like. What if there is not enough to feed the lad!!
I'm stressing now.....
Hayseed
-
I spoke to the midwives this afternoon and they gave me a lend of an electric pump to express either after a feed or on the 2 hour mark regardless of whether he feeds or not (ie don't wake him for a feed, but store the milk, or feed it back if boobs aren't enough). They told me to give it 48hrs of stimulating the boobs (they said to do both) and also to drink heaps and get lots of rest. I am also going to get some fenugreek as well, although they didn't tell me to do this.
Fingers crossed it'll all work out.
I also bought a couple of sachets of forumla just in case.
Hayseed
-
Just a quick post...
Hayseed, it sounds like you're doing all the right things. That's exactly what I had to do when I was having milk problems.
Blake's a regular 4 hour feeder so I would express after two hours, and keep that for topping up.
I also took Fenugreek, drank lots, rested lots and ate well. I also drank Kerry's "Wonder Drink" which is posted https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...71f4da9cb23c70 if the link works or, in the breastfeeding, bottlefeeding and solids section under how to increase your milk. In fact I'm about to make another batch cause Blake (the fusspot!) only likes to drink from big, full bb's so I'd rather have plenty of milk so he's feeding well. (Talk about a typical bloke, only liking big bb's!)
-
Hi everyone,
Thanks for the warm welcome! :D
This'll be a quick post as Sarah is getting hungry. Her little head is starting to bob around! LOL
Hayseed, I do feel sorry for your friend with the baby in the harness. It's not pleasant. Sarah is fine in hers but she hates it when we put it back on her after a bath. Once it's on and she's dressed she is alright again. We are lucky that it hasn't affected her sleeping at all but nappy changing is definately harder. How long will your friends bub be in the harness? The doc we are seeing thinks that 6 weeks will be all Sarah needs. :crossfingers:
Oh, guess what, I got my first smile from Sarah today that wasn't caused by wind!!!! :confetti: SO CUTE!!! DH is very jealous!
Hope you are all going well and I'll come back to do personals later!

Hi guys!!
Hayseed - i really hope things are better for you today and that the breast pump is the answer!!
Rach - ha ha!! Blake and the BIG bbs. Very funny!!
Shannon - hope that Jess calms and the 12 week growth spurt is only short lived! Cant believe that she is 3 months old!! An amazing journey she has already had!
Brooke - yay for Maya being so much more settled. So fantastic!! How was your family weekend. Poo that you cant go to Melbourne.
Well Hendrix has his needle today. I really hope he doesnt react to badly to it? How did your little ones react??

Just popping in quickly again,
Boo hoo! :smt022 We were all looking forward to you coming to Melbourne, Brooke. Maybe next time, afterall you've gotta be sensible about $. We also have that problem with the suits being too short. I don't feel I can put my 7week old boy into Size 0 Wondersuits. I mean Viv wasn't in them until she was... maybe 6 months old!
Shannon, Sorry to hear Jess is draining you with her 12 week growth spurt. Have you tried drinking something like Sustagen Mum? I found it was great with my DD. Haven't tried it with Blake as I'm drinking a 'magic' milk making drink with Aktavite in it so I don't feel I need both. =D> for you the supermum surfing and feeding at the same time!
Deb, I hope that Alexander settles down again soon. It can be so draining can't it? *hugs for you* We wish you could be at the meet in RL. At least you can be with us here online. I have several dear friends and cousins who I chat with over the 'net. Wouldn't be without it!
Kate, I hope that the Zantac helps.
My boy is still asleep - has been down since about 11.30am (nearly 3 hours which is amazing cause he hasn't been having super-long day sleeps of late) I'm gonna go and enjoy some Mummy time before he wakes
Enjoy your afternoon.

Hi all
Returned from a very good trip. Erykah was a little unsettled what with so much sleep while in the car but we are slowly solving her sleeping. I got from 1am till 8am this morning sleep and from 10pm till 8am between feeds. Bless her. She is way more talkative and such a happy laughing baby,
She is spending quality time with Grandad who is over from UK for rest of the week. Its great as I have help to look after her so it is a real break for me.
Will keep popping in but may be busy for the rest of the week

Another quicky before I go get DD from a friend's place... It's been sooo good not having to go out to do the school pick up!
Shannon, Aktivite is a chocolate flavoured drink. Kinda works like Sustagen. You should be able to find Aktivite near the milo in the supermarket. A tin (it comes in one size) is about $4.50. You also can buy a box of Diploma milk which makes "3 litres of powdered milk". This is enough to make 2.5 or 3 litres of the drink (Can't remember!!!) but I bought it and decided that if it was 2.5L then that would be enough drink for me.
-
Hi girls,
I made up the wonder drink (as per the instructions) and gawd... is it ever chocolately!!!!!
Haven't seen a huge increase in milk supply as yet. I also bought Fenugreek capsules (only taken 1 so far) and have been expressing and feediong every 2 hours for the past 24 hours (except overnight when it was 3 hrly). Hopefully, hopefully it will all work or the whole 6 weeks I put up with a cracked nipple etc will seem like a bit of a waste.
Pup is cranky...gotta go.

Hello girls.....
Just a quick post to say hi!
Brooke - Woo Hoo on Maya's sleeping...you must feel like a new woman!! Little Finlay sleeps from 6pm-6pm now which is bliss.......he calls out to me in the night (about twice) but no feeds which means that I am nearly back to sleeping normally..Bummer about your mothers group - 10am is WAY too early for new mums!!
Heather - I hope that Hendrix coped with the needles. Finlay didn't have a reaction - he cried for a bit, but was VERY brave. I was more upset then him...
Hayseed - hope that the the feeding is getting better and that you don't need the formula....we had the b/w photos done - hope that yours turn out well!
Kate - Kelsey sounds like she is growing well...how big is she now? Post more pics on your site when you can....
Rachel - LOL at Blake in 0 already! I think my little man will be there soon - how many kilos is he now?
Hi Layla!!
Finlay is 6.1kilos now and is growing like a trouper! I love him more and more each day and am dreading going back to work(4 weeks time..)
Hope that everyone is OK....

Just for clarification... I haven't yet put Blake in his Size 0 wondersuit. I just can't bring myself to do it!
Instead when I was at Best and Less the other week I picked up some 00 pyjamas with pirates on them. We're big on pirate treasure hunts in my family - my step dad always makes treasure hunts for the kids when we have family get togethers and there's always clues from "Pirate Pete". Anyway, I digress. I bought two pairs of these pj's and a pair with a plane and a helicopter on them and they are size 00. He's been wearing the over the last few days and although they're a bit baggy, he's got plenty of room. He's not quite out of the 00 wondersuits so I'm still puting him in them too, but he's only got a week or two left in them.
As for weight... it was 5.7kg last Thursday when he was 7 weeks, and 59cm long. He's a 90 percentile boy. No wonder I have problems with my milk keeping up with him.
One personal... Hayseed, keep up with the expressing. I think this is the main thing that helps. The other things you're doing will also help, but IMO it comes down to the expressing. Hang in there honey.

Wow you girls can chat! Been listing on eBay and updating Amy's website and doing lots of shopping. Have some great photos on there now.
Will catch up with everyone tomorrow.

Oh Shannon. I'm sorry you had such a crappy day (and night).
It's totally draining when they just want you, and just want to feed constantly. Although he never says it, I'm sure my DH often things 'What the hell have you been doing all day, Woman!?" when I have a day like that. It's not easy to do the feeding thing and get everything done that you have to. And most of the time you can't just say, "Sorry kid, you're not feeding for now!"
I can't remember exactly where you live but I know a good dentist in Knox, and also in the city (yeah I know its a drag going into the city, but the dentist really is great). If you want either of their number send me and email with you phone number and I can give you a call and tell you their details. Tooth ache is awful so if you can get into another dentist with Brielle all the better.
And if Jess is a fussy girl tomorrow you'll have plenty of us to handball her to so she's not wanting to feed from you all day.
*big hugs honey*

Shannon, you poor thing, you need to talk to Corey and explain what has been going on. He probably has no idea what you do during the day. Can you get some help from anyone, or a babysitter for a couple of hours? The weather is not too good ATM otherwise I would suggest getting some fresh air and going for a walk. At least you get to hang out with the BB girls tomorrow :)
Rachel - Wow, Blake is a big boy and that's a good thing because he is so healthy.
Megan - Think I mentioned it before, your B&W photos are really good. That's great that he is sleeping and feeding so well. I might be going back to work in Oct.
Hayseed - Hope the drink works for you, just keep going you are doing well.
Jo - Welcome back, glad you had a good trip. Erykah did well on the trip. Sounds like she is going well.
Brooke - Bummer about not coming to Melb. Maybe one day we might have a National BB meet and we can meet up then. Maya is doing well too.
Kate- We haven't taken Amy to a doctor. She only cries once a day in the late afternoon/evening and settles with Gripe Water so it may be tummy pain. If she drink a lot she throws up the milk but I do seem to be doing a load of washing most days. She is putting on lot of weight too. Will read more about reflux, thanks for the info. Hope Kelsey is going well.
-
Shannon, big  to you.
I just wanted to say, please don't worry too much about Ziana. She has been through a pretty huge upheaval in the last three months, and you have done a fantastic job of coping with everything, but kids react in funny ways. She will get over it, my kids have had stages in their lives where they've acted weird for a while. :-k It's always been stress related and it has always passed with time. It is hard though, you have enough on your plate at the moment.
I hope you get Brielle's tooth sorted out, as well as sorting out that DH of yours! LOL
I really hope you have a better day today.
Hayseed, hang in there. It is hard but it's all worth it. 8-[
Doh #-o Sarah's awake, will pop back later. She always mananges to get hungry when I log on to BB!

Hey guys
Shannon - *hugs* to you sweetness. There must have been something in the air last night as my DH came home with exactly the same attitude except he didnt say anything he just went quiet. So i did say something i cracked it and started crying as hendrix had played velcro baby yesterday before and after his needles and i was already exhausted. Hope that corey really understands!! I cant complain really can i you have 3 babes to look after sheesh!!
Rachel - Its great to know that your boy is so big and healthy. Congrats to you.
Megan - i cant believe how fast time has flown and that you will be going back to work so soon. Are you going back part-time or full-time??
Jo- glad to hear that Erykah is settling so well and that she is such a happy girl. Welcome back!!
Well hendrix's needles went great and he slept 10.5 hours last night. It was magic, although i woke a few times having to go and check that all was ok. I also forgot to tell you all that hendrix had his first haircut (can you believe it) on saturday by my hairdresser friend. He looks really cute! I'll post some photos soon.
