6 Months - 9 Months, June '05

hi girls

well as you can see by me being on bb our inlaws have been and gone which is good, nice to catch up but sleeping over would have been a bit much. lani is still not 100% and slept for most of the day (her breathe stinks - sure sign of a sore throat) her fever has gone but she is mega clingy, have all the trashy magazines out, so when she is awake i jsut sit down and read woman's day to her lol.

snowgirl - good to see you back, that is terrible about the friend with the child with all the problems (arhh sometimes life is so hard) and i to hate those debug messages. wolf is not stupid for not drinking out of the cup, just perservere and he will get there, lani has been drinking water out of a cup since around february but she watches jay like a hawk so picks alot up from him.

dachlostar - omg at yasin what a cheeky little monkey he is not listening to his mummy lol. i see you have been posting a few recepies i think i might give them a go they sound yummy - always on the lookout for new ideas.

bonw - forgot to mention in my last post lani got the kick and whirl carnival from santa and i found she didn't really take to it but since we put it into the other mode (the toddler way i think) she plays with it a bit more blimey the batteries that goes through is unbelievable, jay also got a leapstar for his birthday and that has batteries and i reckon we are lucky if they last 1 wk. time to invest in rechargables i think. jay had the fisher price twirlin whirlin garden and i think that was great it had heaps of use from the time he was sitting up until he was around 2 and 1/2 yrs old, i stored it away and forgot to take batteries out, and they leaked all over it and the battery compartment got all wrecked so had to throw it out, i might even see if i can get one from ebay we will see.

well i am off to look for some answers - lani has started rolling at night arhh i have been up around 6 times in 1/2 hr flipping her back over, she rolls onto her tummy and her legs hang out the bars of the cot and she is to tired/sick to roll herself back over, i have rolled up a couple of hand towels and put beside her hopefully that may solve the problem, i am sure i saw a post a while back about this problem.

gosh i can talk, my fingers go so quick and i just type like a woman possessed lol, hence why i never seem to use capitals or punctuate properly sorry for that.

Michelle, I hope you get Lani's cot/sleeping issue sorted soon. I can soooo sympathise. Yasin's nose is full of snot and he woke me up about a billion times last night. DH slept through most of it :roll:. I'm glad your IL's didn't sleep over and annoy you. Some people are much better in small doses.
I haven't read a trashy mag in ages. DH gets all snooty when I buy them so I have to read them at the gym and the Drs. Since I hardly ever go to the gym now I'm totally out of touch with the celebrity gossip.

Snowy, I was wondering where you were, its good to see you back. It sounds like you have lots of fun coming up. I think Tori Amos is fab. Yasin makes a bit of a mess with his cup too. The first one he had was a tommee tippee with a valve. Because of the valve it didn't leak when he shook it about and so on but it was lots harder to drink from because he had to hold it in the right position and then suck it the right way. The valveless cup he has now is easier for him to use but much more drippy because it has no valve. With the poppers I have to hold it or he wastes it all and makes a big mess.
re the christenings obviously being Muslim we don't have them but I'm always amazed that Christains believe in God because to me it seems that christainity doesn't offer any answers to most of the really obvious questions. I like Christians because they are so keen on saving people. It cracks me up when they come and knock on the door. DH always invites them in for tea and tries to convert them #-o :roll: :lol:

We might have a buyer for our home. they looked round this morning and the agent rang back thisafternoon to say they'd made an offer and he wants to discuss it tomorrow. The fact that he didn't tell us the offer straight away makes me wonder if its going to be too low. Luckily we're not in a hurry so we can afford to reject it and wait for a better price.
Yasin stood up today on his own :shock: :shock: :shock: . He was leaning on the balcony window and just pulled himself up!!!! Then he fell on his bum and got a fright and sooked so maybe he'll stick to kneeling for a while :crossfingers: :crossfingers: .
We have to go to a picnic with DH's family tomorrow. I shall pray for rain tonight!!!! :-#

Yeah on Yasin standing up!! I sometimes put Wolf upright against things and he will hang on for a while and he really enjoys the new perspective (favourite place to do this is my couch, cause when he loses interest/balance, he will just plop back on the couch).
lol on DH trying to convert people who try to convert you... sounds like my brother, he always does that to the Mormones who seem to be sent out from the US in droves to convert people in Europe (yeah, like I'd ever consider signing up to a religion where a man can have several wives... dream on...). I hate that - it's so obnoxious! Religion is a funny thing, isn't it?! I think everyone should just believe what they want to believe and what makes them happy - it's so terrible to think that wars have been fought for centuries, trying to force other people to buy in to your believe system.
I don't believe in any kind of organised religion. I actually don't know what I believe in ... but I definitely believe that no religion out there has got it right, because all of them have been created by men, which makes them flawed.

Oh... I better shut up before this posts becomes just about religion...

Michelle, I was just kidding... of course I don't think my child is stupid. Wolf is of course incredibly gifted :D 8-[ ... but when it comes to drinking from anything but the boob or the bottle ... such a disaster!! I am sure he will get the hang of it eventually...
Oh, I can relate to the rolling at night thingie. When Wolf started that, it made bed time a lot harder! He would roll in his sleep in the beginning and then wake up because he was stuck on his tummy. It got better when he managed to roll around fully in his sleep, but still when I put him to bed now, he will roll onto his belly and get up on all fours and rock back and forth and cry and sometimes also his feet get stuck between the bars because he roams around too much ... very frustrating... but that is just when I put him to bed. At night, he will sleep on his belly now or on his side, no problems.

dachlostar and snowy - your boys are so clever - standing up like that, lani will be 9mths on wednesday and she is just barely holding her weight when i hold her hands - she still buckles at the knees after a few seconds.

welcome doe and lily - have you settled into a new place yet?

we had a nice day today went and had breakfast then had a lovely walk, am cooking pumpkin soup cause lani and jay love it so i know she will eat it with her sore throat. the bottles are a pain she is hardly drinking anything - i wish i was still breastfeeding then i wouldn't worry at how much she has had to drink cause i wouldn't know, oh well what can you do when they wean themselves.

lani was okay last night she woke around 10pm screaming so i gave her a bottle as she only had 20mls at 7pm then at 12.30am she woke again this time stuck on her tummy so i flipped her over and she slept until 9am, then a nap walking to breakfast, then another 3hrs this arvo geese this virus must really take it out of you. my ds was tired all last week but it didn't stop him running around, he would just collapse in a heap after dinner lol. hopefully things will get back to normal shortly.

well i will say bye bye as i am off to 9mth forum on wednesday, boo hoo so sad but if i look in another light maybe only 3mths of ttc again - who knows we'll see.

lilyd - welcome & i know what you mean about churches - i had a few dramas getting eliana baptised last month but it all worked out on the day - how is lily going with her teeth?

eliana & i had a great week up at my parents a few weeks back then had a couple of days back in brisbane before going back up to my parents for 3 days so i could catch up with friends & go to a baby show (eliana came 2nd & best dressed) DP is in the middle of studying for his last exam for his degree so i took eliana to friends down at coolongatta for the weekend to give him some space - wintersun was on (a huge 50-60's themed festival) i had to laugh inside so much at some of the outfits people get around in!! not having an overly exciting day - went shopping at coles & $150 i left there with not alot to show for it - eliana has just woken up so i had better go give her a rusk to keep her happy :D

I really hate repeating myself so in short the picnic yesterday was a disaster. The lowest point was when Yasin got hit in the head with a frisbee, the rest wasn't much better.

Snowy, I went to school witha Morman. She moved to America to marry a guy she had never met just after she finished school. Muslims are allowed to be poygamous under certain conditions but not DH because its in our pre-nup and I'd kill him and his 2nd wife if he tried. The poor mans got his hands full with one wife anyway :badgrin:

Yasin started sitting himself up alone today and has started to test everything to see if he can pull himself up on it. Now he's pulling himself up he's also falling back down so he's getting lots of nastly little bumps and suprises and shedding many tears. Its making me feel quite stressed and guilty because everytime it happens I feel like I should have been there to catch him but I geuss that he's not going to learn without falling down.

At this point I need to remember to hit the submit button but I think I might just copy it first so that if it vanishes I can just paste it instead of trying to remember what I said.

Anyway, hi to everyone, this is my first post here in the 6 to 9 monthers... am totally blown away by all the cool stuff your bubs are doing. Kaleb is sitting quite well and is up on the hands & knees for short stints, but as far as vocals go, we get a lot of ba ba bas and that's about it. He now does this weird thing where he shrugs his shoulders a lot too...hmm, not sure what that's about. Had his 6 mth check up, he's 9.1kgs and 72.5cms. The CHN then proceeded to tell me I should be giving him more formula. I don't know how big she wants him to get. For those bottle feeders out there, how much do you/did you give your 6 month olds? And did you stop sterilising? Some say stop at 6 months, others at 12 months. What do you reckon?

We have officially graduated!

I cant believe Jaykob is months.... Well by his size I can but just the time has flown.... since he was born we have travelled from Darwin right through central australia back to Melbourne and re settled in so it actually feels like much longer...

Anyway! I will Speak to you all very soon !

It's pouring with rain here today, great as far as the drought goes but bad for me because I have too much washing. I really need to get a dryer.

Beth - I don't sterilise Grace's bottles anymore. I sterilised Harry's until he was 12 months old but this time around I thought, what's the point? She is crawling everywhere and putting everything in her mouth anyway. Maybe it's second child complacency. I wouldn't worry about giving Kaleb more formula unless he is indicating he wants more. He is obviously healthy and growing well.

Dachlostar - Grace is pulling herself up on everything too. She has become quite good at it. Don't feel guilty about the little bumps and falls -it happens, and you cannot be there every single time to stop it. Just wait till he starts walking! Anyway, it's not like he is going to grow up with a complex because you couldn't prevent him falling over when he was a baby. What is important is the cuddles and kisses he gets after he has hurt himself. Having said that, I understand the guilty feelings, I have my fair share of them over just about everything!

Re Religion - I am a non-practising catholic. The way it works for me is there are things about the religion I like, and many things I definitely do not like (like no birth control and child molesting priests). I think for a lot of people it doesn't matter that christianity doesn't provide all the answers, it provides a lot of comfort and hope for many people.

it has been raining here on & off all day & has gotten cold in the last hour - i'll have to go find what i did with my jumpers - of course eliana has more clothes than she needs so is already nice & warm! DP came home for lunch just as eliana fell asleep so i woke her up cause i know he came home to see her not me! now i can't get her back to sleep ](*,) i have re-arranged our lounge room so i can fit all her toys in now that she can play with the big ones - i need a bigger lounge room now but oh well as long as she is entertained & happy - im happy :D

Hey girls!

Lily had her needles yesterday, she was a brave girl. Today she has two hard lumps and bruises but they dont seem to mind her. She weighs 7.7kgs and is 68cms long. She has only put on 600gm in 2mths so i am not sure if i should be worried about that or not?

Mel, settling in well. Moving into our new place on Monday but getting the keys on Saturday, just gotta wait for our stuff to arrive from my mum's. Nice and hot here though, loving it so far!

Beth, Lily has 260mls of formula 3 times a day. a jar of solids twice a day(lunch and dinner) and i am just easing out of sterilising. Used to do it for 8mins then went to 5mins then 4mins and now 3mins, so will pro stop in about a week.

Thanks for your replies Tegan and Bon. I've tried offering him an extra bottle but it just means he'll drink less the next time. Oh well, I guess this is one of those 'use your instincts' type scenarios. You made sense with the sterilising though Bon. I think I will pack it in soon...looking forward to relegating the steriliser to the back of the cupboard!

Tegan, hope you move goes well. How exciting to be in your own place next week. You won't know what to do with yourself!

Mel, it has been kinda cold here the last couple of days, hasn't it? Finally get to use some of the lovely hoodies and jumpers I've bought for Kaleb, though he is growing out of them at a crazy rate.

Took him for his needles this morning. He cried when they were going in, then the lady gave him the polio drops straight after - he just stopped crying and looked at me as if 'Mum, that is the most delicious thing I have ever tasted!' Strange boy. I asked if I could take some home with me for future crying fits. Apparently it works all the time she said!

Well Jaykob had his needles today too..... The first one he didnt even notice, he even gave the nurse a smile but the second one he felt... and just like you guys said.. the polio liquid made him happy again lol

He fell asleep in the car but is awake now and happy as ever.. hasnt even had any panadol... I think hes lucky to have his big chubba legs :)

Hes going well with his solids, Ive actually found he gobbles up the vegies ( pumpkin in particular ) and isnt to fussed about the fruity ones, that said he loves the chocolate custard one LOL

Not much else is new here... My house is a mess and I cant be bothered LOL Ive hit a wall with my energy I think ](*,) ](*,) ](*,)

Well Lily got all 4 teeth through OK, she was a bit unhappy for a couple of days but she is fine now. Once all 4 came through they seem like they have all had a growth spurt as you can see them all clearly like fully grown baby teeth, all in three days, she looks so funny with all these little white teeth.

Lily is pushing herself round in circles atm. We have not a single scrap of carpet, not even a mat in our house so she slides around on the floorboards, she gets around though. It's such a crack up when I put her onto our bed she gets up on all fours and then tries it on the floor and splat, straight onto her tummy!

Tried her on some watermelon & rockmelon today, the face was hilarious, she didn't like either at all, but sardines she loves - go figure!!

We keep trying a sippy cup with water but there is no way she will suck.

Well, time to go and clean up, as usual. I am sure some days all I do is pick up after everyone.

Kylie, woohoo on Lily's teeth =D> . It must look so differant going from no teeth to 4 teeth almost overnight. I'll have to try Yasin on sardines. DH likes them so if they both like them they can eat the same thing. Yasin loves it when he gets the same food as us. It doesn't happen often because I have a full on chilli addiction. I even put it on my eggs in the morning and in my hot chocolate :oops: .
Colleen, I'm glad that Jaykob recovered well from his needles yay for the chubba legs. I hope you've recovered some of your energy. My house is looking a bit scruffy too. Since we've got it on the market at the moment I have to get it looking spic and span tonight. I hate housework!!! ](*,)
Beth, I see Kaleb is another brave little victim of the Drs and thier nasty needles. Yasin doesn't talk alot either but he is getting quite good at communicating and catching our atrtention when he wants it.
Tegan, I'm glad you're enjoying QLD and I hope that you enjoy your new home. Good on Lily for being so brave for her needles. I think that they do grow more slowly once they hit around 6 months and also once they get more mobile they use more of thier foosd for activity as well as growing.
Bon, I only have fold out washing lines on our balcony so usually I use a dryer and I hate it. Its really bad for the clothes and sometimes it doesn't dry them properly and if I forget about it I get them out the next day and they are all smelly so I have to wash them again #-o. I hope my next home has a washing line.

Its really windy and clear here at the moment. Perfect kite flying weather. At one of the parks near us they have Afghani style kite flying (kite fighting) every sunday and I really wanted to go but DH is working on an assignment so he won't move.
Did anyone catch that In the Womb show on channel 10 last night? Whenever I see the photos taken inside the womb I always wonder how they get the camera in there but I'm glad they did because the footage was just amazing.

Hello i am still alive and so is millana.I have so much to do that i just forget about forums.I am usually watching tv as soon as she is asleep!
She is 6 months and 2 weeks now.She has had 2 bottom teeth since she was 4.5/5 months old.She looks like she will crawl any day now and its real exciting.Millana is quite a demanding little thing and latley she has been yelling at my husband and i for attention.What do you do?Try to ingore it? I still get up to feed millana twice a night and sometimes she wakes up an extra couple for fun and games.She also gets up at 6am on the dot! Usually with a nice suprise in her nappy.
Millana weighed 6.1kg at her 6 month needles and i am sure she has put weight on the last couple of weeks as she seems to like solids more.
Well she is crying in her cot and i will go and save her,so i will say goodbye and not leave it so long for the next post.

dachlostar - I missed that show on 10 - I really would have like to have seen it, do you know what it was called? You must have a real chilli addiction!!! IN your hot chocolate!!!!!! wow... I bet you were addicted to those Chilli Tim Tams.... I never did try one lol

Caddie - Im the same sometimes, I read but dont get that extra few minutes to post but, after my whinge in the Boo Hoo Room, DP has really started helping out at night and I get a bit more time to myself, which I spend in here lol (of course) - Jaykobs still up once through the night, has really only slept right through a handful of times.... Every bub is different, but I do think its getting worse at the moment, Maybe a growth spurt? The nurse said I should expect a bit of abnormal activity around 6 months....... but yeah.... every bub is different.... *crosses fingers* maybe she'll settle soon :)

Hi again ladies,

Thought I would have a sook on here, feeling a bit sad today, and they say if you write it down you feel better so hoping it works.

Just thinking about my wonderful Dad in the last few days. He died one week before Lily was born :smt022 of leukemia after having it for 3 years. Mum & Dad live in WA so the week we were actually told he would not live was the hardest of my life. I had to decide to either go and maybe risk my baby or stay and not be there for him and my family. I ended up staying home, which was such a horrible thing to have to decide, but the right choice for me in the circumstances.

Mum asked me to say goodbye to him on the phone the morning he died, he wasn't talking at that stage but she said he could still hear what people were saying, what do you say to a dad you love with all your heart and when you know he was always so afraid of dying. I mainly cried.

Dad knew we were having a girl and what we were going to name her so I am glad he was able to be a part of that.

I just miss him so much.

Well I don't feel any better #-o

Sorry, just needed to get that out. I am sure tomorrow will be a better day.

awwww kylie! big hugs to you.... I can relate, my dad passed away when I was 19 - 3 yrs ago - from mesothelioma (asbestos cancer) and I have really bad days....

I was pretty close to my dad & never got the chance to say bye, it was 6 weeks from diagnosis to death,

Try taking some time out and having that big cry... I always find it helps.. ?

Sometimes I look at Jaykob when hes pulling a cheeky face and I think he's been here before or maybe its just my dad showing through to say hi

I hope your day gets better, I didnt know your dad but Im sure he wouldnt want you to be sad :(
I reckon my dad gives me an invisible kick up the butt when I start feeling down ;)

Wow, Kylie and Colleen, you are two very strong girls to have to deal with what you have - I can't begin to imagine how painful it must be. Big hugs to both of you, I'm sure your dads would be so proud of their daughters and grandkids!

Caddie, it was good to hear from you. Glad to hear Millana is doing well. Yep, the yelling for attention thing has started up here too, big time. At the moment it is still a bit of a novelty, but I'm sure that's going to wear off real quick - not sure how I'll deal with it then either.

Dachlostar, I'm with you on the chilli. I put it in pretty much everything I cook, DH is the same. I think Kaleb is going to follow. He likes capsicum and DH gave him some hot mustard pickle the other day (the man is insane) but Kaleb just ate it like he'd been having it all his life, didn't even pull a face. Being the one who has to change his nappies however, I won't be giving it to him again till he is toilet trained.

Had a shocking couple of days here. Thursday night after the needles Kaleb was in such a bad mood. He was just generally grizzling until bath time when I washed his face and he got hysterical. He cried and cried and I got him out and cuddled him, but he was inconsolable. Ended in him making himself sick - it was scary, like grown up sick, heaving and everything, not a little baby chuck. He was then really clingy for a couple of days but today seems back to normal. Having a few sleep issues too, but last night was good, so I won't jinx myself!

Big hugs to you Kylie- the worse thing about losing someone is that the pain doesn't go away, and some days are better than others. It was hard for you too that you couldn't be there, but I am sure that your Dad is with you and watching over his darling grandaughter.

Colleen you too have had a rough trot losing your Dad so quickly and when you were so young. It makes you really take note of the important things in life doesn't it.

So who is next to be 9mths or have you all got awhile yet. Sorry for crashing in, just wanted to offer support. Kylie you can be sure that people here will be happy to be here for you esp when you need a shoulder or an ear.

Kylie :grouphug: I really feel for you. My mum died three months before Yasin was born so I have some idea how hard it can be. She was ill for a few years before she died but her death was still unexpected. I think of her often, I miss her like crazy and I wish that she could still be with us because becoming a mother myself has made me understand her much better than I did before. She was so looking forward to meeting her grandson and really excited about becoming a grandmother again. Sometimes I feel a little angry on Yasin's behalf that his stupid grandmother is still alive and his smart one isn't. i haven't ever bothered sharing this with anyone else but I also feel really angry with my father. my mother was feeling ill all day yet it wasn't until my sister finished work for the day that she went to hospital. I often wonder what would have happened if my father had made the effort to drive Mum to hospital. I know its not constructive but I can't help it. Even though my mum can't meet Yasin I hope that I will have the oppurtunity to tell him about her and how much she was looking forward to his birth.

Beth, I hope that Kaleb gets back on track with the sleeping soon. I know how frustrating and exhausting the bad nights can be. Last night Yasin didn't go back to sleep for almost an hour after his late feed and I really felt insane for wanting another one. I used to want 4 children but now I feel like once I have a sibling for Yasin I'll call it quits (at least for a few years)

Colleen, when were the chilli tim-tams? I can't have been in Australia at the time because there is no way I would have missed them.

Caddie, its good to see you again. Yasin yells for attention alot too. Even if I can't get to him pysically for a minute or two I always answer him verbally just so that he knows that when he tries to communicate I'm listening. He shouts at people in the shops too if he's a bit bored and wants some attention.

Yasin is still busy trying to pull himself up on anything he can find including me. Often he can't do it but sometimes he does and since he's really wobbly on his legs he usually sits back down again quite fast. He's getting more used to the shock of finding himself back on his bum again so now he doesn't sook about it as much as he did last week. His favorite spot at the moment is in front of the big mirror in the bedroom. If he goes there he'll be happy for ages checking out the mirror baby and using it to try and stand up. It keeps me happy too because I can lie in bed with a book while I keep an eye on him.

They have been out for about 3 months.. maybe longer?

along with the truffle ones and blackforest ones mmmmmm i might just pop down to the supermarket... lol

thanks Colleen, I've seen the black forest ones in one of those end of aisle displays so next time I'm at the supermarket I'll check the biscuit aisle and see if I can find the chilli ones =P~

Hey girls,

sorry, been away for a week and couldn't post. DH, Wolf & I drove to Switzerland and back via Nuremberg (where the Socceroos where playing Argentinia). We did some 2500km and it was quite exhausting, as Wolf got sick on the trip. He had 38.8 fever (though the stupid doctor I went to see pointed out that that's not a fever, a fever starts at 39 ... grrr) and got this awful rash all over his trunk. Wolf is commando crawling through the house at some serious speed. I am wondering if he might skip proper crawling as he gets around the house so quickly on his belly. He uses one arm to pull himself forward and the other one is for grabbing or holding stuff. It's so funny to watch! We have now opened up the play pen and given Wolf the living room and fenced DH and his PC & cables in :D. I think I also will need to buy some of those powerpoint protectors as he has taken an interest in those boxes at eye level ... ](*,)

Hi everyone, I hope you're all well.
Yasin is a little champ!!!! I think that I'll have him sleeping through soon (I hope I haven't jinxed myself 8-[ ). Last night he woke up for his 4am snack and I tried bouncing his hammock a bit, he screamed and yelled for about a minute and then went back to sleep. If I can keep this up I'll try and convince him to drop his 2am snack and then he'll be sleeping from 10:30 to 6:30 :crossfingers: :crossfingers: Its about time too!!! In a way I'll miss the 2am call becasue its so quiet and peacefull then and I like snuggling up in bed next to him while he has his snack.

Snowy, lol at locking your DH in the playpen and letting Wolf have the rest of the space. What a stupid Dr!!! I can't believe that he would quibble over .2 of a degree in a baby especially when there's a rash as well!!
I hope you enjoyed the Tori concert. Did she play any of her old stuff?

Colleen, there were a million biscuit flavours but no chilli. I'll have to check at the big supermarket in the next suburb. The old mint slices that I love have all sorts of new flavours now like cherry and so on =P~ . I should visit the biccy section more often but then I'll have to buy them and I can really do without any fattening foods in the house. I've still got a bit of baby flab on my tummy and I can't really diet because I'm breastfeeding so its not going anywhere in a hurry. I should excercise more but its hard to find the time.

Good Luck with the sleeping through, i jinxed myself because Jaykob was sleeping really well last week.... & now :( :( Last night was terrible... and I get the feeling tonight will be the same, he seems annoyed or something, he makes this horrible noise! like a higher pitched grunt....

Ive tryed everything, but I think its teeth coming through, Last night when I was feeding him he squashed my boob so hard it brought tears to my eyes LOL If he had a tooth already, I think I would have needed a doctors attention hahahha

A girl I know is hopefully in labour right now, I havent heard anything but will keep you guys updated! Its exciting to see a lil baby again, especially coz Jaykob was never really all that little .... A playmate for him will be nice too ;)

Hi everyone, my little monster is asleep so I can take a little break \:D/ . He's just racing ahead at the moment. Yesterday he clapped for the first time :D and went from struggling to pull himself up and not always suceeding to being able to do it every time and then staying upright for about a minute or more before his legs give out and this morning I peeked around a sofa at him and said 'hello' and (I know this sounds like I'm imagining things) he looked at me and tried to say 'hello' back. It came out as hela la la but I'm sure that he was trying to say hello. And.... the night before last he woke up at 4.30 and I convinced him to go back to sleep until 5.30 before his feed and this morning he woke up at 5.30 for his feed. I made him wait until about 6 while I tried to bounce him back to sleep but at 6 he started to get grumpy so I fed him. I'm hoping that over the next week that we'll move it back to 6.30 or 7. :crossfingers: :crossfingers: [-o< . The other fab thing is that after his early feed he's slept until 8am for the last couple of days. :D :D . I'm sooo happy. I hope he keeps it up because its been suggested to me that he'll never sleep through or modify his behaviour unless I use control crying and I can't wait until I can tell the CC person that he's sleeping just fine with no tears or stress for either of us [-o<.

Colleen, Yasin bit my boob just a while ago with his teeth :shock: . OMG it hurt!!!!! and it was really hard to break the seal because he was biting not sucking. I asked the girls in the breastfeeding thread about it and Katanya gave me a great answer. Maybe you could check it out. I hope your friend didn't have a difficult labour and Jaykob's little playmate is well and beautiful. Whenever I see a tiny little newborn in the shops I get so clucky.

Well, had to take Kaleb to the doc on Wednesday because what I thought was dry skin was getting out of control, he woke up and his cheeks were red raw. Turns out it is eczema, so we have modified a few things to see if we can get on top of it without resorting to the steroid cream. Anyone else have any experience with this?

Jaykob got his first tooth!!!! Its come from nowhere ! Although now that i had a look, I think the 2nd one is there too so I think by the end of the weekend we'll have two front teeth.... It is very sharp but he hasnt chomped me yet so hopefully we'll be ok :)

I cant say that Ive had any experience with excema but I hope you get it under control... good luck with that.... :)

He had a few restless nights but last night he slept right through til 6 am so it musnt have bothered him too much!!!!

Dachlostar - Like I just said, Im hoping not to get any more bit hard bites because it hurt enough when he had no teeth lol My friend had a baby boy, Liam, 4 hours of labour, shoulders got a lil stuck but apart from that bub & mum doing well...
Im a really clucky person now ( i never used to be) But i miss being pregnant, I think I didnt really take it all in when it was happening as much as I should have and now I think geee I miss this & that.. IYKWIM

And everyone else seems to have these tiny lil bubs and I got a biggen (no complaints though!) but they are so sweet to see ;)

Well Jaykob is sleeping ( epic nap ) and I have finally found myself with time on my hands to rearrange the lounge & dust & do the little things I leave til last....

Dach I believe the hello cos Jessica said it from bf 6 mths, I swear. Is it any wonder when it is the word they hear a million times a day from the day they are born! And it is very cute.

Beth- on excema, our dr recommends sorbolene with vitamin e or aloe, 4 times a day for a week and it should clear up, the trick is to be always moisturising and use no soap whatsoever. Jemma is my excema girl and we try to keep it at bay by moisturinsing after her bath every night, she has very dry skin all over her body, but it only flares up very occasionally.

all is well but very busy so not much time to post. SIL is arriving in Germany with her boyfriend tomorrow and we drove to my parents' place this week as it is closer to the airport (and they arrive at 5 a.m.) and then the week after MIL and FIL are coming as well (just when SIL leaves for her tour of Europe) and we also have to drive to England for a christening and and and... so I might be a bit MIA for the next 3-4 weeks until the inlaws have left again.

Kylie, it must have been so hard to lose your dad and to have to say goodbye over the phone :(

Hi everyone, Yasin is scaring me now!!! This morning while DH was looking after him he pulled himself along the side of the coffe table to pick up his dummy then turned and grabbed the sofa to try and get DH's phone. All up he traveled about a meter!!!!! :shock: :shock: . eeekk now he's started cruising furniture walking isn't too far away. I feel like his body is travelling way faster than his brain and I would prefer it if he wasn't so mobile at the same time as being so prone to putting everything into his mouth. At his swimming lesson today he started swimming too (well his teacher called it swimming - it just looked like waving his legs and arms about while DH held him to me).

Beth, :( to hear about Kaleb's eczema but now you know what it is you'll be able to take some steps to sorting it out.

Snowy, it sounds like you'll be flat out for the next little while. I hope you enjoy your visitors.

Colleen, I don't miss being pregnant at all. I wish that it were possible to lay an egg and sit on it for nine months instead of carrying the baby around in front of me (although I did enjoy the first little kicks). I'm hoping that when I'm pregnant with number 2 it will seem to pass faster with Yasin to keep me busy. I'm glad that your friend and little Liam are doing well. 4 hours of labour!!! What a lucky woman.

Well, we now have a tooth! Sharp little beggars when they first pop through, aren't they? Eczema is clearing up nicely with all the special bath stuff & creams we've been using, so hopefully we'll be able to stay on top of it. Bad news is that Kaleb used to be happy to come back into bed with me for a snooze after his 5am bottle - not anymore. He is ready to get up and start his day now, so after my luxurious 7am sleep ins I now am up at 5am too. Oh well, guess I got away with it for long enough!

Haven't been on in ages, too busy! But Jules is now 6 months! It has flown by!

Its amazing how much she has changed. She can just about sit up now (she topples after about 20 seconds). She is such a little flirt now too. She wants everyones attention.

Beth Jules has really bad eczema on her face and we have to use steroid cream on her everyday, just wondering what bath stuff and cream you use? We use the QV wash and sorbolene, but just wondering if theres a better cream i could try(already tried so many and none seem to work).

drove back to Berlin yesterday. SIL & boyfriend are sightseeing atm so I've got some time to surf.

Beth, London is about 1000km from Berlin ... it's kinda like going from Sydney to Melbourne (except you have to cross the ocean at one stage, but with the tunnel that's no hazzle at all). We will stop at my parents' place, which cuts the journey in half and rest for a day. Otherwise Wolf would get too cranky.

Wolf crawled for the first time yesterday!! 5 proper steps on his hand and feet, before flopping down on his belly and commando crawling the last bit. My father was there to watch (and then called us) and he was so excited to be the privileged one to have witnessed it!
