Hi everyone, Aidan is now in the 'big boy' forum, or so I tell him!
Aidan is at child care right now, they like to do an orientation so I have left him there for a few hours and honestly I could be doing a million things but I feel so lost without him! I think I will go and pick him up a little early I miss him so much!
Hope everyone is well.
Jess

I know! I was just thinking that. Where is everyone?
-
yoohoo  here I am.
LOL at the big boy forum Jess.
I can't believe that Yasin is going to be a year old in about a month. He seems so grown up now and he's walking so confidently.
-
Wow! Love your new avatar Dachloster!
-
Thanks Tegan, kathryn does a great job with them doesn't she.
DH is in Melbourne for work at the moment, he was meant to come back tomorrow night for the week end but now he won't be home until saturday night. Not happy Jan!!!! As much as I love Yasin, looking after him 24/7 without any help gets a bit much after a while. I'm in awe of single mothers. I don't know how they do it.

It is 10:00pm and Lily will not go to sleep!! Arrrgh! Se will cry and cry and scream and cry until i take her out of her bed and put her on her play mat where she will continue to play like nothing is wrong! If i go to put her back in her cot she will scream with all her might and go purple in the face til i pick her up again! Have no idea what to do, she isn't hungry, has a clean nappy etc etc. I think i am getting the terrible 2s early!
-
tegan - grrr at lily not wanting to go to sleep - they know all the right buttons to push to get their own way regardless of what time it is!! hopefully she finally went to sleep
bon - how are the birthday plans going? i am already stressing about eliana's party - we will have to have it in a park as we can't fit everyone here so im trying to work out things to take that don't need alot of refridgeration
jess - did you enjoy your few hours without aidyn? did he like day care? lol at him being in the big boy forum - wait till our babies are one!!
dach - your new avatar is great - love yasin with the camera! he must be so cute up & walking around - how is your pregnancy going?
we've had a busy few days - eliana has been to a few friends places to play (didn't realise that they started this young) we spent yesterday shopping with DP's mum she bought eliana a gorgeous dress to wear on her first birthday & we then got a hot pink hat to go with it as her party will be in a park - just having a day at home doing housework if i can get myself motivated - i got some more supplies so might to some scrapbooking instead :D
hope everyone has a great weekend
-
Yay Dasch I too love the avatar! Hope DH gives you a break when he gets back, it's tough without back up!
Hi to everyone else
Cheers michelle
-
Hi all
Dach - congrats on being a moderator! I really must get around to getting platinum membership so I can have a cool avatar too!
Tegan - grrr at Lily not sleeping, the fact that she was happy when you got her up shows that there was nothing wrong with her, she just wanted to be up playing with mum!
Mel - I have sent out all the invites for Grace's party, there's going to be about 20 adults and 7 kids if everyone turns up. I am starting to stress a bit too, mainly with the food preparation and making a cake and it also means I will have to clean the house! I was debating making a doll cake for Grace - the one where the barbie doll is sticking out the top and the cake is the dolls skirt but I think I will do something a bit simpler! Then there is shopping for her birthday present, I still have no idea what to get for her...Oh well, it will be fun on the day.
I am looking forward to October, I am a bridesmaid in a friend's wedding on the 30th (they chose halloween on purpose - they are those kind of people), and I also have the hen's night to go to and Grace's birthday party. And SIL is due to have her baby too, yay! a little baby to hold and cuddle and then give back! I can get a newborn fix without doing any of the hard work.
Hope everyone is well
Bon

I have just started organising Lily's birthday too (have to start early, im so disorganised! lol) I'm making her a '1' cake with a sleeping teddy theme on it. Have already bought her present, a few clothes and one of those First Baby Walker things where its like a trolly type thing they push around and it has an activity panel on the front that you can take off.
Lily is getting more advanced in pulling herself up to standing. Today she had her first fall and hit her head on a shelf and now has a small bruise on her forehead, poor thing!
-
Hi Everyone,
Havent been getting notifications #-o
Love the Av Dachlostar!! ;)
Ive been thinking about Jaykobs 1st bday too but have no idea whats happening, I bought all his presents at the target sale so they are on layby with his xmas ones....
Jaykob cut three more teeth and his biting me to shreds, he has cut back alot on BM but those 2 -3 feeds are killers!!!
We are in the process of finally moving into our new house, just finishe painting Jay's room 2 shades of blue, doing the master tommorrow and we are still debating the colours LOL
As long as I get a red or purple feature wall I dont really care ;)
Jaykobs still not really crawling but hes pulling himself to standing on the couch, its all a bit scary really!
I hope all the bubs are well, Not many personals coz I lost track but i will try to keep up now!!! :)

Hi
Even though Hannah turned 9 months on the 17th I havent had a chance to log on - Im sure everyone knows how that is.
We are going well over here, crawling around everywhere and now trying to stand up wherever possible. I have my heart in my mouth so much of the time but I guess I have to let her learn.
And now she has woken up, time for some dancing around the kitchen with Mum I think.

Hello girls,
sorry for not posting that much anymore. I usually just manage to get a post in the due in feb group and then Wolf comes over to play with the laptop (which is currently on the floor for lack of a desk)
Will try to pop in more often.

Good to hear from you Snowy! Do you know if you're having a boy or girl yet?
-
bon - sounds like you are pretty organised for grace's party & no doubt you are looking forward to being a bridesmaid - has your sil had her baby?
tegan - lily's cake sounds great -will your family come up for it? hope lily hasn't had any more falls - they are so determined to do things!
colleen - yay at jaykob pulling himself up - i looked at your photos & he is such a cutie - not good about him biting - eliana did this a bit & i just kept pulling her off & she soon realised that it wasn't good to bite - hope the house moving is going well - i dread all the boxes
mimo - that's great that hannah is crawling around - no doubt she is getting into everything - just wait till she will be able to dance beside you
snowy - glad everything is going well - i too have a computer interested baby - eliana can now pull my laptop out from under the lounge - lucky she hasn't worked out how to turn it on - hope all is well with your pregnancy
dash - hope yasin is being good to you & letting you rest & that your little one is happily growing
i haven't had a chance to post as it's been a busy week - went up the coast to see my family etc - eliana loved their dogs & went crazy everytime one came near her - she is looking like she is going to get more mobile (i keep saying that every week & she still only moves about 2metres) i won't be able to post for awhile - we are going to sydney on saturday then to armidale for dp's graduation then to coffs harbour for relaxing holiday & will be back on the 11th
hope everyone has a great weekend :D

Hi everyone, I hope you're all well and your bubs too.
Snowy, its good to see you in here. I've been reading the febuary belly buddies so I'm staying up to date with your news.
mel, I hope you enjoy your holiday. it sounds like you're going to be covering alot of ground. Congratulations to your DH on graduating!
Mimo, good to hear hannah is well and healthy and keeping you busy. Yasin likes to dance too. Sometimes I tango with him (I have to lead because he's not too co-ordinated) and he cracks up when I give him a big dip.
Colleen, it sounds like your redecorating is coming on really well. I hope you sort out the teeth/boobs issues soon. I sometimes worry that I'm going to lose a nipple. Yasin is down to about two breast feeds each day and I think that by his first birthday he will have almost given them up.
Tegan, its so scary when they fall and bump themselves isn't it. WTG on pulling to standing - it won't be long now until she's walking.
Bon, it sounds like you've got a busy month ahead of you and little Grace will be turing one!! I'm impressed by how well organised you are for her birthday party. I still haven't thought about Yasin's. I only want something really small because I'm not into big parties and I don't want to set a precedent that I don't want to keep following IYKWIM. DH and I were thinking that we might just take him to the aqarium with a couple of our friends and thier daughter. Next year when he turns 2 he can have 2 friends to his party. The IL's seem to want to interfere (as usual!!) and I'm not sure whether to let them have thier way now so that when he gets older I can tell them that they've had some birthdays thier way and now they can butt out or if it would just set another precedent that I don't want to keep following. I'm inclined to think that keeping them at a distance right from the start might be a better option. I'm just a bit worried that while I'm on holidays they will send out invites etc and I will get home a week before his birthday and get told that they have a party planned.
I should be out and about getting everything organised for this holiday but the weather is so yucky I'd rather stay indoors.
-
Mel, yeah my mum will be visiting and maybe my dad and his girlfriend. Just very small. Unfortunatly not other babies :(

Hello girls!
Oh, we had a shocking night last night. Wolf woke twice, once at midnight and once at 3 a.m. and wouldn't go back to sleep until 5 a.m. .... I am sooooooooo tired now... I wonder what's up because the night before was crap too... maybe teething? or maybe still that bug we all have??
Pregnancy is going well, had a bit of a scare because I threw up and saw spots on Monday but blood pressure and urine levels are okay - so no pre-eclampsia, as I feared for a moment. (I thought second time around I'd be more relaxed, but no... not really)
We have our next scan in 2 weeks. I am not sure if I will ask the obgyn for the gender or not. DH wants to know but he won't be there as I'm flying back to Germany for the scan. So it's all in my hands.... hmmmm...
Dachlostar, how is your pregnancy going??
Oh - wow birthday party plans... well, we have decided to fly back to Berlin to be with Wolf's baby buddies for the weekend of his birthday. But not made any plans other than that. I don't think we will have an actual party as such. Just a nice dinner with our friends.

Speaking of shocking nights, I was up for most of it with Aidan coughing. He is asleep right now (10am) and still coughing every 2mins or so. I feel so sorry for him and have tried everything, saline drops and the snot 'extractor', dimetapp, water, baby panadol, elevating his cot... and it wont go away. So I am going to a different doctor today and putting my foot down. He has had this cough for AGES and it has suddenly got a lot worse (I think he has a cold so thats probably why), but still, surely he is not meant to have a cough for this long, especially now it is getting warmer.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what it could be or relief? I have a feeling the doctor will be as un-informative as usual.
Thanks,
Jess
p.s. Beth, are you out there?!
-
Jess, maybe Aidan has bronchittis?(sp) or croup maybe? I'd go and get a second opion!
-
Tegan, nice ticker!! TTC #2, good for you guys!!!
Funny you should mention bronchitis, thats what the Dr said, so Aidan is on antibiotics... fingers crossed he is feeling better soon.
Jess
-
Jess, yep TTC #2, bit nervous! I hope Aidan gets better soon and the antibiotics work!
-
It is soooo quiet in here!
Anyway Lily just properly crawled for the first time today! I'm so proud of her, got a few piccys too. :D
-
Yay for Lily Tegan and good luck with TTC no.2. What an exciting time for you!
Cheers michelle

Ive got a question for everyone - when your bubs were about 9 months old how many sleeps a day were they having? Hannah still has one about 1.5hrs after she first gets up and Im wondering if its time to try phasing it out coz its always a short one of about 30 mins. What do you think?
-
Lily still has a nap about 2hrs after getting up. I always though they napped til about 3 years old?
-
Mimo,
I have this great sheet from the MCHN which says:
9 months
Total number of hours sleep approx 14
Total number of hours at night approx 11
Total number of hours during the day 3
Number of daytime naps 2
And just to compare:
12 months
13 total hours
11 at night
2 during the day
2 daytime naps
This is obviously a guide only as every baby is different but it sounds to me like Hannah is fitting in well to the above.
I stress about Aidan's sleeping habits too sometimes, now that he is in child care 1 day a week. When he is there he only has 1 long nap for 3 hours as he just wants to play play play. Whereas at home he has 1 nap in the morning and 1 in the afternoon, each for an hour or more.
Hope that helps.
Jess
-
Just to answer your question Tegan, this sheet also says they nap until around 3 years of age. I'm suprised as it also says they have 2 daytime naps until around 2 years, I dont think I know many toddlers that have 2 naps, but it would be nice to get stuff done around the house!
Jess

Mimo, my kids have always been about the same. They still have 2 sleeps a day until somewhere between 1 and 2. At the moment Jessica is 13 mths. She has a sleep about 11ish for about 2 hrs and then maybe another 30mins to an hr later at about 4pm. At 18 mths I remember Jemma would have a sleep at about 1 till 3 and that was her only nap. Jemma is now 2 and a hlaf and doesn't really have a sleep in the day now, unless she is super tired and then it can be 1 hr, but it isn't a regular occurence.
I really miss the time you get free when they have a nap. I like to stretch them having sleeps out as long as possible. Also I really think they need that sleep, and when they atart not doing it then I know they don't IYKWIM. I hope you can work it out for Hannah, I think she will let you know when she doesn't want to sleep cos she just won't do it.
Cheers michelle
-
2 naps? I've only ever heard of a toddler have 1 nap and even then sometimes they dont want to! I just let Lily play on her blankie on the floor and she will just take a nap when she wants. Like today she was very playful so didnt nap til in the car when we went to pick up DF from work at 3:00.
-
Thanks for the feedback on naps. I tried having a morning nap at 10:30 and she has just gone down for her afternoon one and it has worked really well. My problem has been in the timing coz if I put her down too early in the arvo she is either overtired by bed time or needs another little sleep late in the fternoon which she is never too keen on. Hopefully we can make this part of our routine if it works.
Hannah is just so much fun at the moment. I so prefer this age to when they are tiny, she has just learnt to clap and it is the cutest thing.
-
Mimo, Yasin is 11 months now and most days he only has one nap. IKWYM about Hannah being at a really cute age. Yasin is not so cute now that he can walk and gets into everything.
Tegan, congratulations to Lily on crawling =D> now she'll really keep you on your toes.
I'm off on holidays for a couple of weeks so I won't be in alot but I'll try to stick my head in whenever I get a chance.
-
Have a good time on your holiday Dach!
-
Hi everyone
Dach have fun on your holiday!
Only 3 weeks until Grace's first birthday. I am looking forward to it but I am also a bit sad because she is growing out of that 'baby' phase.
SIL had her baby yesterday, a little boy. She named him Benjamim David. He was 8lb 1oz I think, and 48 cm long. It was a pretty quick birth - she was induced, and had her waters broken and the drip put in at about 11 am then he was born at 1:13 pm. No drugs and no tear or anything which is good. I went to see him not long after he was born and he was so tiny, I felt all nostalgic remembering when Grace was that little. Sigh. Stupid hormones - I don't want another baby, but seeing Benjamin yesterday brought back all those emotions. I just keep reminding myself that it's not all fun and games and that Jo (SIL) has her work cut out for her now with 4 kids.
I have decided I am going to apply to do a Graduate Diploma in Education, focusing on the 'Early Years' which is birth to 8 years old. I can do it via distance ed over two years with QUT. I already have a Bachelor of Arts, so I don't have to do the whole Bachelor of Education, which is good because it is 4 years full time. Anyway when I am finished I will able to register to work as a teacher in QLD, teaching the lower 3 grades of primary school, or preschool. I am looking forward to it, though DH has thrown a spanner in the works because he is talking about getting work in Port Campbell in victoria, and if he does that and we move to vic for a while then I can't do it, because I have to be in QLD to do practicals and any on campus meetings. So now I have to decide whether to apply or not.
Anyway this has turned into a bit of a mammoth post so I will go now before I ramble any more!
Bon
-
Wolf also has 2 naps. One around 10 and one around 2. In total it would probably add up to 2-3 hours.
Yeah on Lily crawling!!
Oh.. talking about naps;.. Wolf just woke from his morning nap.. better give him lunch!
-
Hey Snowy, good to hear form you! Hows bubs #2 going? Do you know what your having?
-
Lily did the cutest thing last night. We went to the pet shop and was looking at the cute puppies and Lily was so interested in them and she kept looking at them and then me with the biggest smile on her face. It was like 'aww can i have one mum?' It was so sweet!
-
that sounds very cute Tegan, does that mean the next addition to the family will be a dog? LOL
Michelle
-
Tegan, aww how cute, I dont know how you resisted Lily's "puppy dog" eyes! hehe.
Well, DH and I had a chat last night and he is keen to start trying for #2! Hmm, not sure about it all really so I will wait until I am 100% sure I am ready. My sister has just started TTC #1, and this may sound silly but I would feel bad if I 'beat her' as I know how much she wants it. So maybe I will wait until she is officially pregnant, but then I dont want to wait too long!
I have started thinking about Aidan's 1st birthday party and I have decided on a Blues Clues theme as he loves the show and I want to make it a real kids party, it's not a party for the adults! We have decided to have it at home as we have a good backyard area and I think I will do a sausage sizzle with salads, shouldn't be too hard... except I am going to TRY and make a 'Blue' cake, I found a template on the Nick Jr. website.
