morning ladies & abs.
Haven't been on for a while, coz I kept typing all these posts and then they weren't submitting properly, so I just gave up. Seems to be working ok today tho, so we'll see what happens...
Jacci - well done on doing your tax already - that's one thing about being on mat. leave - I've got to wait for someone else to do the group cert's at work, so that could be anytime. If I was doing them, they would be done on the first working day possible.
abs - hope you had a nice breakfast.
Sooz - good luck with the u/s today.
Hope everyone is having a good day. I'l check in later, gotta get moving, lots to do before I go back to work tomorrow. :(
Bel

Hi all,
Jacci ouchies on the injury! Hope it heals quickly for you. And  on Charlie's chrissy present. Aw, but what are grandparents for if not to spoil their grandkids.
Sooz, GL for Amber's u/s today.
Abs, I've seen the video. Cracked me up! Luckily Karl isn't too squeamish about changing pooey nappies, he just doesn't change it often enough for my liking. And of course BFed poos aren't as smelly, so maybe that's why!
Well, Charlie hasn't been weighed since his 8 week check, and likely won't until his next CHN appt on the 18th. But he's just about grown out of his 00 wondersuits now in length so I know he's growing, at least! Lol!
He also started staring at his hands over the weekend, so I'm getting all sooky about how quickly he's growing up!
-
morning all - actually tis just about to click over to afternoon
yep Bel, brekkie was good, what there was of it though - I could have eaten double :p Hope you had a pleasant 1st day back
We actually go the other way with clothes, well Jordy wise. We can't see the point in spending heaps and heaps on clothes he'll be out of quite soon. Sure he has a couple of nice outfits, but I do mean just a couple. The rest are cheap but comfy stuff from Big W etc. The onepiece suits are the best for keeping him snug and warm
And we've got a PP jumper that has 3 buttons on the shoulder. Upper body wise it looks as if it's a perfect fit, but we can't get his head through the neck hole, even with the buttons undone - very weird
Oh, and what a sleep last night. Crashed out at 5.30pm, woke very briefly at 9.30, had about half a booby of milk. Jen said he woke at 1.30, nappy change but he didn't even last to getting the nipple in his mouth. I was up at about 3.30 with him - down again at 4am. So a fairly good sleep overnight - will it repeat ?? doubt it :(
EDIT: Sushee, Jordy is now sucking mostly on his left forefinger, to the point of it being a little red !! Jen read somewhere that it doesn't mean he's hungry, tis just something they do :o tis funny the sounds though :D
-
Snap abs, so is Charlie! I suspect he's going to be a left-hander!
On sleep, Charlie went from sleeping 8pm to 8am with only 1 wake-up at about 5am, to lately waking at 3am and 6am too. I'm hoping it's a growth spurt (again) Funny how you get used to only waking up once a night! I'm not complaining though (too much anyway) I know I'm lucky getting this much sleep!
-
Sush - My brother and his wife don't think they will have children so my little man is very spoilt!!!! your little charlie seems to be getting very tall. my charlie hasn't grown in length since his 8 week check up, i think he must b due a growth spurt.
bel - i went into work and done the group certificates on our last pay - thursday - but couldn't download the e tax till 1st july. hope your return to work is good. I am looking to return to work soon - i miss the money too much! but i'm sure if i start work again then i'll miss my charlie too much.
abs - i only ever put charlie in the one piece grow suits at night - the MCHN told me to do that when charlie was sleeping thru the day and not at night so that he would get the difference - it worked for us - so now i just keep doing it, he has heaps of little tracksuit pants and jeans and stuff, plus its so much fun to dress him up - i know he won't let me do it when he's older
Growing????(sorry abs but) i put charlie to bed last night at 8.30pm and he woke at 5.30am - does anyone know if they sleep more when they are having a growth spurt???
-
theresa - is the jeep good???

Hi everyone
We have been away showing abbey off in newcastle...everyone loved her and she was such a show off smiling at everyone.
abs and sushee... abbey hasfound her hands too.. she stares at them for ages and sucks on them too.. she started on her left hand but now uses both. and yes the noises are funny..and yea! for the sleep
Jacci...hope your better soon... just be thankful that charlie isn't crawling yet or it would be even harder to keep up with him lol and wow on the jeep... it sounds so cool.
Bel...bummer about going back to work tomorrow.. hopefully it all goes well.
Sooz... goodluck for the u/s.i do the same with shopping with buying stuff for abbey and not me and i love PP its all so cute... its a shame they grow out of it so quickly.
Abbey is doing really well atm.. she is a drool machine though.. hoping its not a sign of early teething...she has been grabbing her toys when she plays with them and has the longest conversations with them.. its so cute the way her voice changes from serious to happy.. i can't believe how fast she is growing up..
-
Forgot to mention: I got your card and the pressie inside, Theresa. Thank you!
-
yay on the jeep jacci, I'm sure Charlie will love it! Mark got a big remote control batmobile for christmas and he keeps threatening to strap Josiah to it and wiz him down the street!
Theresa, Janae has been really good with Josiah, except at the moment she keeps trying to kiss and hug him while he's sleeping, and trying to pick him up. She's not too rough with him though.
Gotta go change a dirty nappy...looks like he has wet through...GRRR...ooh, that reminds me - Janae has been sleeping all night in knickers and staying dry! YAY - one child fully toilet trained, I'm so excited!!
Bel
ETA: I meant to say, everyones bubs are looking gorgeous on your tickers. I saw a photo of Lisa's bubs today too - what a cutie!!
-
Bel - your little boy is looking gorgeous. he has sensational eyes - but i also remeber looking at a photo of Jenae and her eyes were great too - must be from Marks side of the family there nice and dark.
yeah on the toilet training!!
Amanda - it amazes me how charlie has made a friend out of his mobile - he talks to it all the time - i'm sure there listening to him!!!!
My little boy is growing so much - I went for a job today 10hours a week - but i just got home and looked at charlie and thought - i don't want to leave my litle boy!! - i will miss out on stuff - so i am going to hang off fo another few months and then wory about the work -isn't it funny how you can think you want something but then all you have to do is look at this little person and he changes your mind
Any way best go make some tea.
-
Thanks for all the well wishes kids. Got the report back from the ultrasound and it's not a hernia, rather a laxety in the stomach wall or something, but nothing is pushing thru so going back to the Dr tomorrow and seeing what the go is. Fingers crossed it's something that will fix itself as she grows.
Glad to ehar all your bubba's are growing and going along nicely. Amber's sleeping about 10 hours a night so absolutley stoked with that!
-
Hi everyone,
Sooz - good to hear that Amber is okay!
Jacci - I am going back to work in 2 weeks not looking forward to that!!
Bel - thanks on the little man being cute! Congrats on the toilet training! My DH is like Mark, he has bought him a romote controlled helicopter, the fact it isn't for under 12 isn't the point!
I just saw the Target biggest toy sale catalogue onlin, looks like the credit card is in for a hammering!!
Me - well my little man has post traumatic stress disorder I am sure, every Sunday (the day he was born) he is a complete nightmare, then come Monday he is good again! I must say that just overnight he has started sleeping 10 hours straight, last night though he went 12 and I got up twice to make sure he was okay!
Love to everyone else!
-
hehe one of the first things I said when we found out we were having a boy was "gooddeeee, yes dear all these toys ARE for him - he will learn how to use them when he is old enough :D"
argh I was gonna post something else due to what someone else wrote, but me forgot now
-
Oh dear Jacci, thats not good. Wow on the pressie.
Hehe Abs, I too only just did mine when Holly was 3wks old. I had everything ready except for my medical receipts. I chased up 4yrs worth of medical receipts (scripts, chiro, physio, dental, optical, medicare, glasses, surgeries, etc) in the 1wk I had off work b4 Holly was born, as we were out of pocket over the unclaimable $1500/yr threshold, & got a whoppin $2000 back, so it was worth the wait. The other thing is u can claim 2yrs worth on 1 claim, so only one $1500 threshold, which meant more return, yay. :)
Yeah Holly's sucking madly on her fist but not hungry.
Sooz, PMSL. Yay on no hernia & good sleep.
Bel, hope u have a quiet day. WTG on the toilet training.
Sush, they sure do grow up quick. Holly hasn't yet discovered her hands, apart from sucking on them.
That's great news on Em, Theresa.
Amanda, no dribbling doesn't mean teeth coming thru, it's another developmental milestone. Holly started dribbling about 3-4wks ago, no sign of any teeth. :)
Lisa, the K-mart toy sale starts on Thu & Toys R Us are already having theirs.
Holly's 13wk/3mth checkup today: BW=4.83kg 10lb10oz, L=56cm, HC=39.5cm
-
Hmm, dunno if we are aware of a 13wk/3mth checkup due ?? as jordy is the same age as holly !
but a reasonable nights sleep here (hence me being awake already) - I fed him at 11.30, back to bed right on 12 and I think Jen's only been up once overnight ?? He's almost awake now though
-
hi everyone,
sorry i havent had a chance to catch up on everyones posts Nixon & I just got home yesterday from our trip to Sydney. I had so much fun with my sister (her #2 4 days younger then Nix) we just giggled and lauged and caught up. Seen all my friends and fam too which was great, i had to borrow a bag of mums just to bring back allt he presents Nixon received!
Im as sick as a dog right now and really hoping Nixon does not catch it. Im going to the drs at 2pm i think its a cold but my head feels like its been hit by a train.
Nixon is great, besides the spewing. Poor boy chucks between 4-10 times between each feed. not alwyas straight after a feed sometimes coming in closer to the next feed. Been giving him colic relief for the pains which seems to have helped but still chucks just as much. Alos tried one formula feed of a night and a thickened one, hasnt made a difference exept for not pooing for 2 days then exploding in his nappy!
getting him weighed on Friday but last week i just jumped on scales and then got him on with me and think he is about 4kg. which is a about 350g gain in 2 weeks. he could be putting on so much more if he could keep it down.....
hope everyone is well, im meant to be going to State of Origin tomorrow night but if i feel like this i really dont think i'll make it......
-
Oh Nickers, poor Nixon. Though it sounds like his weight gain is excellent, so maybe it's his body's way of regulating? Charlie often spews first thing in the morning too. In fact he just did and I've only just finished cleaning up the floor, the rocker, me and him!
Shell, you're really organised! I know I'll need to organise my receipts, esp my medical ones, but spent most of yesterday completeing Zaki's High School enrolment form. Because our local (public) high school has recently ranked in the top 5 schools in the state, the school is wanting mortgage documents and other proof of residence, to make sure only residents get offered a spot. Not easy when you've used a PO Box for years! Lol! Didn't need all this when my two older kids went to school there.
But the good news is our house prices have skyrocketed  Not that I'd ever move. I couldn't afford to buy here again if I did!
Abs, I think you have a check with your CHN at between 3 and 4 months. Do you have another appt?
Charlie isn't dribbling yet, just blowing bubbles. Always cracks Karl up when he does it too! Funny how kids develop at such different paces.
And speaking of inappropriate presents, Karl bought a signed Robbie Keane jersey (famous Tottenham Hotspurs soccer player for anyone who didn't know who he was, like me!) for Charlie's nursery before he was born, ie before he knew we were having a boy! Over 1/2 a grand later, it's still leaning against the wall in my room, coz he's too scared to hang it up in the nursery!
-
Bubble time here too sushee - will have to check with Jen as to whether another appt is booked :o
Hope you get to the game tomorrow night Nickers. I've only been to a SOO once, the first one they held in Melbourne (I think), maybe 1990 or '91. Was part of the groundcrew for the parachute jump in... we had no idea what they were doing (as in the game), so we left at half time after the boys landed
We've only had 4 chucks, plenty of little dribbles and coughing up a small amount - are you talking projectile chucks, or just a bit ??
-
Nickers - CozCharlie has reflux - i go through about 5 bibs a day!! I also find that he is fine after the feed but in about 2 hours time he will throw up everywere - it seems to be getting a bit better now he is getting older -apparently they can grow out it at about 3 months.
I read in the baby love book the other day that babies dribble until about 18months - thats when they learn they actually have to swallow the saliva instead of letting it drible out
Well i just had one of my friends over and she got married a month before me - her and her husband have seperated. Its very sad - they have only been married 18 months. but if your not happy then its time to go!
-
yeah most vomits are projectiles and rather large.
Doctor prescribed him with Zantec so he is to have 0.5ml twice a day, so we'll see how he goes on that.
Im just hoping he doesnt catch my cold, need to watch his temp. Basically all i can have is panadol and some nasal spray. Hopefully i can kick this in the butt soon i have plans for every day this week.
Abs- since being in Syd do u follow NRL any more? DH & I just cannot get into the AFL down here i've tried but it just does not interest me and dont understand half the rules!
Ive been pretty dissapointed since being here there is little or no info on NRL so was pretty excited when they announced SOO 3 was here! should be a good game as its the DECIDER!!!!
Jacci- Thats terrible re your friend seperating, seems to happen so often these days, but as you said if they are not happy whats the point?
Nixon didnt poo properly for almost 2 days and luckily last night just before putting him to bed he went. Talk about exploding! OMG!! luckily it all stayed in but i was amazed how much there was, DH was more amazed at the sounds his son was making whilst letting it all out!! He did another HUGE one thismorning just after changing him. i guess he was making up for not doing any for a while!
-
Thats awful Jac, but it's probably for the best long term
Nickers, I've never gotten into the NRL - plenty of rules I don't understand. I only went to one AFL game which was in about 1976 with my papa, Essendon vs Hawthorn (I was about 11 at the time). My team is at the bottom I believe :(
And not going for 2 days is basically standard here, but then Jordy does 2 decent goes at filling his nappy within a few hours. Jen got em both today - hehehe... I did offer to help, but she was mostly finished by the time I realised what was going on... hey I was downstairs working
-
Charlie fills his nappy -about once a day - unfortuatly normally at about 4.30 am when i really just don't feel like changing it!!!!! although when i was breastfeeding it was normally every 2 days
i
-
I so feel your pain re: bulk chucking after meals. I usually have to do at least one if not two complete outfit changes after every feed.
-
Charlie had such a weird night last night - i fed him about 8.30pm and he slept till 1 am - so i kept putting his dummy in his mouth and pushed his feed out till 3am - then he woke at 6 am but i pushed that out till 7am then i fed him and put him back to bed and he woke at 10am i picked him up sat him on my chest and he has gone back to sleep. normally i get up at 4am and thats it til about 8am. they say that a sleeping baby is a growing baby - he has slept heaps more lately than normal.
-
Abs, yeah I checked my blue book & there was no 'carbon copy' checkup pages like there was for 9wks, maybe they check them mthly for 6mths.
Oh Nickers, hope ur feeling better soon & Nixon can keep his food down more.
Sush, wow on the High School, but bugger on the paperwork, hehe. Actually I wasn't organised, had to sort out all our receipts to find ones I needed (eg: glasses) & just asked for tax printouts from chiros & chemists etc for the rest. :)
Hehe on the Jersey, men huh, my DH was lookin at remote control toys b4 we knew too & said oh we could get this for bub & I can play with it until he's old enuf, yeah right.
WTG on the sleep Jacci.
Yep exploding nappies here too still, Holly saved one up for mums group (5boys,2girls) yesterday & farted like a trouper to get it out, yuk, had to change her clothes again, only a little got out though, hehe, still going about every 4 days.
-
Hi everyone!
Well, I survived my first day at work yesterday, but can I tell you I'm knackered today!! Don't know how I worked so much before! Also went to the gym this morning for the first time since I found out I was pregnant, so I guess that contributes to the tiredness.
I really feel for all of you that have reflux bubs. Josiah was a bit spewy for a few weeks, but he seems to be ok now, except when I eat something I know I shouldn't - or drink softdrink - which I shouldn't be doing anyway. As far as poos go, I get at least one a day, if not 2. My stepmum was concerned when I picked him up yesterday that he hadn't done any all day, but once I got him home I got 2 HUGE nappy fillers in the space of about 1/2 an hour!
Schools - what highschool is zaki going to sush? Is anyone planning on sending bubs to private school? Has anyone even thought about it? I'm only asking coz we are now trying to sort out school for Janae coz she starts kindy next year, and the waiting lists are pretty long. We rang to get her on the list for a private school near here and they asked if I had any other children. At the time Josiah was only 2 weeks old, but they told me to put him on the list coz when they're accepting enrolments they look at how long you've been on the list. We've ended up enrolling Janae in a public school near Marks work (no way I'm sending her to our local public school!) until she gets into the school I want her to go to. Some women were calling from the hospital to get their kids on waiting lists! Just something to think about.
K, off to clean the house in 20minutes before Mark gets home - it looks like a bombs hit it!
Bel
-
Bel,
It's Willetton High. We moved here for the High School, not that it stopped my DD from dropping out at Year 10, mind you. I had looked into All Saints but with 3 kids all going to high school within the space of 4 years, it would have bankrupted me! Lol! And in the end WSHS ranked better than them anyway.
We are intending on still being in this house when Charlie goes to school. I talked to Karl about private school but Karl doesn't think it's necessary until High School, if at all, so we have some time still to think about it. If WSHS is still doing well, we're just as likely to keep going public.
-
hi people.
went to the Kmart toy sale today - it was mahem!!!! LOTS OF PEOPLE!!!! lots of prams
gee there are some rude people in the world! people just push u out the way!
got some great toys for Charlie - he was very well behaved.
Schools- there is only 2 high schools in portland so even to go to the private its not that expensive. and the private primary school is cheap too.
Can i ask how much school does cost in perth?
well we just booked another holiday to Queensland in december - can't wait
-
Jacci- i went into the Myer sale yesterday & was hardly worth all the effort.
one person stole my parking spot when i was sitting there with my indicator on, when it was about to happen a second time, i wound down the window & said it was my spot the car almost side swiped me with the s#its.
get in there, like u said prams everywhere, rude ppl everywhere. Nixon was crying the whole time. i picked him up he spewed all down me.
everything was a mess i was walking around in circles.
in the end i saved $8, on a baby present for a friend, forgot to get another baby present for another friend, got nothing for myself or Nixon and was put in a bad mood for the rest of the day! next time i'll just spend the extra $8 to avoid all of the above!
oh but on a positive note..... Nixon slept from midnight to 8.30am just feeding him now!
what a good boy for mummy to let her have a good sleep and rejuvanate!!
-
good boy Nixon
we've been doing a little better ourselves too - I think one less feed during the night, makes a world of difference
-
gee nickers just when u thought your day couldn't get any worse it just kept going and going!!!!!! great sleap last night.
hope your sleeps are getting longer too abs
-
Hello everyone,
I hope you are all well!
In regard to scholls my girls go to a Public Primary Scholl that I am very happy with. My eldest DD goes to a CAtholic Girls Private School (costs about $5000) a year. I plan on sending all my girls there. I have a secured a new Job in Operations 4pm-Midnight which means Noel can look after Olivia and we dont have to worry about childcare which is a bonus. I missed the money too much not to work.
Nickers,
you certainly had a bad day, I had one of those the other day, Olivia just screamed not stop whilst I tried to do the shopping, not fun! Yeah on Nixon sleeping through.
Abs,
Yeah on the 1 less feed per night, Olivia still wakes once or twice during the night.
I hope Jen is doing well.
Olivia's demanding my attention. Be back soon.
KelC
-
hehe, we are still getting 3 feeds during the night
1ish, 3.30ish, 6-6.30ish (that's still considered night here ;) ) and maybe again at 8.30 which is when we finally both crawl out of bed
School is something on our list of thoughts to do at some stage - I dunno
-
Jacci,
I think 4 years ago when I was looking at All Saints for Ariani it was $3000 a semester or something close to it.
Sales - I skipped the K-mart one when I saw the crowd. Turned round and went to the Big W one with my mum, where I put a indoor cubby house on layby for my god-daughter. Going back today to check out stuff for Charlie. Couldn't splurge with my mum watching! lol!
-
i dont know what we are going to do about school as we plan to be back in sydney by then but have no idea what area we will be in.
Nixon had his check up today
weight 3990g (up 310g in 3 weeks)
length 55cm (up 2cm in 3weeks)
head 37cm (up 1cm in 3 weeks)
so im quiet dissapointed with his sats he is putting on ever so slow. i know its because he chucks so much so now i have to concentrate on topping up on bad chuck feeds. which i think i'll be feeding all day every day..... he just fed from 2.30-3.30. had 4 huge vomits and now back on me....if i didnt think i was getting anything done b4 hand its going to be less now.
-
hmmm, that sounds pretty hard work there Nic - have you spoken to anyone medically about it ? Surely there must be something going on there
Jen dragged me to bed early tonight for some us time, just cuddle and snuggle and chat about stuff... we fell asleep in each others arms til Jordy woke at about 9.30 - Jen's boobs were leaking when we got into bed (tis weird, one moment they are empty and have been for hours, then wham, leaking everywhere), so she got up, changed him - he took the edge off the fuller one and passed out again. All he probably wanted was a nappy change
I couldn't get back to sleep, so after an hour and feeling a little off colour BSL-wise came downstairs - BSL is perfect so here I am
-
nicers - Atleast he is putting weight on!!!!! when i was breastfeeding with charlie my Dr told me to alternate the breastfeeding with formula ( i use s26 AR) charlie wasn't putting much weight on when was breastfeding and i felt like a milk machine - i got mastitis coz he wasn't emptying properly after i put him back on after a spu and my body just got so run down from having to pretty much constantly supply to him, once i alternated the feeds i found it so much easier and i wasn't astired. Just a suggestion, worked for me
Abs - what is BSL??? I have been trying to work it out for ages!!! so i thought i would just ask
Well my little nudie rudie is lying under his jungle gym naked ( i have cloth nappies under him incase anything leaks!!!!!! - he loves doing this every morning, he kicks and talks away.
Well its gav's birthday in september and i have just booked for him and I to climg the Sydney Harbour - he loves heights! - we are flying up on the wednesday staying wednesday night and then climbing on Thursday coming home on Friday - ( its his birthday on the Thursday) he doesn't know about it. I have organised with his boss for him to have the days off so he will get a huge suprise when it comes the time.
-
Wow Jacci, another hol, that'll be nice. Wow, what a bday pressie for ur DH.
Yikes Nickers, but wtg on the sleep in. Oh no on the vomiting still being a prob, hope docs can sort it out. In 5wks, Holly gained 520g BW & 1cm L & HC.
Abs, yay on 1 less feed/night.
KelliC, congrats, no childcare will save u heaps.
I checked the other day & KellyW hasn't posted anything since 18May which was in this thread, yikes, I hope she's just busy with her boys & they're ok.
I put Holly's Nuby teething keys on ring in her hand last night & she held it for a few mins for 1st time & was trying to get them in her mouth, yay. Hmm will have to sort out with work next wk if I really can come back 2days/wk for 6mths when Holly is 6mths, luckily there are 3 new childcare centres in our area, 2 ABC's & 1 other, but placements are getting low. More places avail Mon & Fri's but most PHols fall then & still have to pay for PHols if Holly isn't there, but doubt I would get paid as work may put me on a temp casual basis which may mean no PHol pay, DOH, will have to wait & c what they say.
-
Nickers,
I spoke with my CHN a few days ago about Charlie's throwing up all the time and she told me about a technique which has turned out to be really effective. It's a bit of a pain, but Charlie hasn't had one chuck up since I started. It's actually pretty damed logical too if you think about it.
She said that every time you BF, unlatch him one minute after the milk lets down. This is when they gulp the most air. Then, even if he cries or grizzles, burp him. You should get a loud/big burp. If you don't get it, keep patting his back until you get it, even if it takes ages. Once he's burped, put him back on the bb for another few mins. When you feel his mouth pulling on you less, take him off and burp him again. This should only be a small burp (if at all). Finally finish the feed, and sit him upright on your knee (if he's awake) Any more air in his belly will naturally rise to the surface and be expelled in time, you won't have to pat his back anymore.
On the boob, they don't suck as much air as on a bottle, but they do get some nonetheless. Give it a go, what have you got to lose? Maybe it'll help Nixon retain some of his BM.
GL Nic!
-
Thanks heaps for the advuse Sushee. I'm almost coming to an end of this feed now so will have to try that method next time.
It does sound quiet logical and i think he does guzzle when i have my let down cause often he comes off couging like he got too much too quickly.
I'll give it a go and report back!
