hay everyone
having a little trouble sleeping tonight
russell is doing really well - he is up and walkn on his own, mostly short distances as he grows confidence. we still only have 2 teeth so expectin the next 2 to be a real challenge 4 him.
rob and i seperated for 4 weeks - e told me it was over and he was done with me but not russell - so started to move on but still be a good mum and friend and then on valentines day he asked me to have him back. i am takin it one step at a time - still alot of things goingon. my parents have some money issues and we live in a house they brought 4 my brother and i and our best mates live in their oter property - hopin that things work out but if they forclose then it 3 families with basically nowheere to go. there isn't alot i can do short of win the lottery cos its like 1.8 mil that they owe on property ect .
Russell routine is a bit screwy he wasn't sleeping well there for a while but has sorted itself out now i hope
anyway better try to sleep or tomorrows is going to be painful.

Nettie, yeah I am in amazment when watching Wyatt. He is now starting to get his crys down pat. I can tell when his brother is annoying him or when someone has taken something off him, when he gets stuck, or when he is ready for boobie.
Wyatt is off, slowly starting to walk behind his pusher. I would love him to walk before wedding cos he would look so cute, but I dont want him to as the its more work and effort running after him and his brother.
Wedding plans,
Ok, so I have 63 adults and 7 children attending. Most things are done, but am unsure what else I have to do I thought I would be a lot more busier by now. I guess that will come. I order my dress from ebay like I had planned and it is PERFECT.
So I know how you all love some photo I have heaps for you, so in my dress and some of Wyatt.
I have done all the table seating, and just have to get order of day printed and place
setting and menu together.

thanks for the kick up the you know what Nettie, I do mean to post more often but now that i'm back at work i find it hard to find the time!
Glad to read most of you are well, sorry to read of your family troubles Zee hope it is going okay for you. Hope the rest of your wedding plans go smoothly sarah, its such an exciting and special time.
Okay so I started back at work on Tuesday 27th Jan, three days a week and we are all adjustng to it okay. Cooper goes to FDC while i work and his carer is wonderful!
He is nearly walking, won't be long now i think, he has two bottom teeth and still BF, he is so active these days a split second and his gone exploring around the house! Can't believe how quickly he is growing up :(
Sleep at night time is not great still he wakes at least three times a night and needs me to resettle him, he is still being wrapped to sleep, is anyone else doing this? After my MCHN hounded and hounded me i have stopped feeding in the middle of the night now so i have been doing that for a week, we've gone this long before but i end up giving in if i can't settle him after getting up four or five times, so we'll see if i last!
Whats new with everyone else???

I was feeding Liam before his sleep and I had a sudden 'Mummy moment'. It suddenly hit me - "look what I made!" Dunno why now, but I just got a very sudden awe moment - tears and all!

thanks girls - need all the positive vibes i can get to survive each day - russell new trick is standing up from itting down and trying to walk. quick question
are anyones kids headbutting stuff. this has been going on for a few weeks now started when he realised he could do "yoga" i think its the cat position. now it is everything me the floor the doors cupboards. it dosn't seem like a normal behaviour. it gets worse when he is frustrated at soemthing.

Sorry Zen. Liam doesn't headbut (well, not intentionally). If you're worried - see the child/youth health nurse. Liam does pelvic thrusts :redface: when on hands & knees... I'm sure all our bubbas are doing something slightly odd!
I can see why it would concern you though... he doesn't do it hard enough to hurt himself, does he?

I'll try and pop in later for more detailed response, but yep, Nettie, I have mummy moments like that, especially having bottle time before bed, when he just gazes up at me...I just look at him and think....we made you....and I'm sooo lucky to have you (*sniff sniff, tear tear*) then I'm back to normal!!

HI ladies, It has been a really long time since i have been in here. No excuses other than I work full time and between that and my husband and Luke it is hard to do anything for myself!! Luke is going well - he is cruising around the furniture, crawling like a maniac and has 8 teeth. He is a bit sick at the moment and a little off his food, but weighs in at around 13kg and is almost 80cm long. Bit of a heifer!
Hope your bubs are all doing well.

Benjamin now weighs in around the 9kg mark and is just heading into size 0 clothes...though in anything but grow suits (with feet), 00's are still a good fit!!
He has been pushing himself to sitting alot lately, and whilst he isnt crawling on his knees, he gets up on hands and knees and rocks alot.
He isn't pulling himself up, but I've noticed him getting alot more steady on his feet so thats cool.
Better go sort out some tea...its 8pm!!!

Surgery went well. The Drs are pleased with how it all went so that's always good.
Me? Well, I'm home - alone - and not coping too well. I feel like I'm going slowly insane because I've left my boy in hospital (and my Husband) and this is the first time since he was born that I've spent the night away from him.
He's been quite clingly and dependent and neither of us got heaps of sleep last night (about 5 hours each - broken up) - as Liam will only sleep in our arms. So we took turns and switched every 2-3 hours. I feel REALLY awful that I've left DH there to deal with him while I'm home (have to go back to work in the morning) and I'm missing Liam like nothing I've ever experienced before.... haven't stopped sobbing since I left the ward!
I'll go back each night after work (around 1hour drive each way) and if I'm this unstable at work tomorrow, I might even be able to call in 'sick' to go early... I'll see what happens after a night's sleep.
On the upside (yes, there IS one!) - we got permission from the head Plastic Surgeon to use the haberman bottle to give Liam a feed around 6pm tonight. We tried to spoon or syringe feed him this afternoon (they don't want anything in his mouth) but it just really upset him as he's not used to it and didn't swallow reflexibly - so he panicked. He ate some pureed apples on a spoon, but the milk (formula) is what he really wanted. Also - the sucking action really comforted him. So we can now settle him easier and he has been playing and smiling as well as grizzling and crying!
Hopefully in the morning the pain management team will assess him not needing the morphine any more (he's on the minimum dose now) and we can remove the drip and oxygen and have him tangle free!
The splints on his arms are ticking him off a bit - but that's a small thing to deal with for now. They should come off in a few days.
Here's hoping DH has gotten him to sleep in the cot and is having some well earned sleep right now... Can I hear a 'Hell yeah!'??

You were very brave leaving him Toni, when Bj ended up in hospital at 10 weeks, I refused to leave him, slept on a chair in his room for 3 nights (DH had work), only time I left his side was one day when DH came for a visit after work, I went to the vending mechine down the hall!
You guys have done very well, and I'm stoked to read he's doing so well!!

Just a quick update,
Wyatt is walking everywhere. Which is so cute, but it also mean double running around now for me, I am so lazy. however I already have a 3 year old and I do enough running after him. No teeth yet still, we have the lumps under there, but they just wont come though.
Anyway wedding is in 8 days (21 march) and parents fly into 2 morro. So am trying to get house clean and yard FH decided to dig it up 11 days before wedding. **Never said he was bright spark**
Well I better go have lots more to do, and hens night is tonight.
how is everyone else babies/toddlers doing now?

Liam did a few steps to DH the other day which was quite impressive... but he's not doing it on his own yet.
He's got the splints off and is almost back to normal. We went to the Baby Expo in Adelaide today and he absolutely loved it! He's still a bit clingy so didn't last too long in the pram - but DH carried him in the sling for about 3 hours. He charmed the pants off nearly every stall holder - everyone loves his hair!
Hope everyone else is well! I'm a bit slack this month because the nappy hunt is on and I spend most of my 'puter time' looking for icons! If you don't know what I'm talking about visit diaperdecisions dot com.... ;)

Morning all,
I know it early 5:40am. Can't sleep, there is so much to get done. My parents fly in today. My mother is going to be the biggest stress for me. I honestly don't know why they are coming a week early I guess they figure they could help. But honeslty the only real way they can help is to babysit kids while I run earns.
Anyway Hens Night. OMG it was so borning, I felt so sorry for guest. MOH and BM did one game after I told them I wanted to have games all night, it was parcel the parcel. I felt like I was 4. They have been so slack and un supportive during the process for me:wall:. They have not gone out of way to call me up once a week and ask how thing are going or come around and help you do menu or name tags or put petal cones together. So disappointed in them, I honsetly thought my MOH would have made it really specail for me. :cry:
Groomsmen yesterday, FINALLY got there suits organised. They were worse than girls. I B*t#h slaped the best man:redface:, as he was being a pain in the bottom, kept changing mind. If you didn't know him I would say he was Gay, which he's not, but you would take him clothes shopping with you as he would give his honest thoughts.
Anyway last night was the FIRST time FH has put Wyatt to bed. I have been expressing milk like I am a cow. Anyway saved up 200ml put in bottle, and told FH it was in fridge when he was ready. Along with how to wrap him up and put him down with Giles (teddy bear). I know I not ment to have anything in his cot, he only has Giles, his first teddy from Daddy. Wyatt pulls Giles over to his noise and rub's his fingers which arn't in his mouth on him. If he doesn't have Giles he doesn't sleep. Hence Giles doesn't leave the cot.
DS1 has Beckett and does the same only he rub's beckett arm on/under his noise, and rub's his hand. Beckett little hand has been warn out off fur. Again Beckett isn't ment to leave bed so we know when he is when we need him.
Nettie, that is great news that laim is starting to try. DS1 walk early at 9 1/2 months so I was hoping and not, that Wyatt would walk early. Thought was he would look so cute walking down aisle but then he would run off.
If he falls to his bum, he would just rather crawl away then try and stand back up.
Wow Liam does have alot of hair. That is what I expected Wyatt to have when he was born, but only a little bit.
How is Laim now after surgery? When does he have to go for check up?

Benjamin had a hearing test today, went well, except it looks like he has yet another ear infection, will go to dr on friday...apparently at the moment one ear has some "colour" the other is congested...if he's gonna get one, it'll show up properly on friday!

Yet again Benjamin has an ear infection in both ears, and a throat infection....grrrr.....no wonder he was velcro boy....we kinda knew it was coming though, still a bummer.

Liam's just learning to eat - so he's a light feeder too. He loves bread though and tends to much at about a handful of it at a time. We tried some veggies this arvo for lunch, but he just played with them. Put them to his mouth, but then made a screwed-up face and didn't bite...
He's eaten banana and rockmelon before though - but again only a small sample. Will play with more than he eats!

BW Luke is a big eater. he has 1.5 weetbix and a tub of yohgurt for b'fest. He has sao's or a muesli bar for morning tea, he has mashed vegies and cheese for lunch, another tub of yoghurt and half a banana for afternoon tea, tuna or beef with mashed vegies and cheese for dinner and custard for desert. And 2 bottles. he is a bit of a pig. He will also eat biscuits hand over fist if permitted!

Wow, ShellBell and Luke, you guys put Bj's appetite to bed in one sitting!
So far we have 1 1/2 weetbix for brekky (and I offer toast, or fruit after wards as finger food...not ahell of alot of it gets eaten)
He has between 20 and 160ml of milk before his sleep (in bed by 9:30)
Up about 11-11:30 Lunch is usually either around a cup of yogurt, custard or vegies (sometimes meat from last nights tea)
Back in bed between 1:30 and 2:30 (3 on a bad day!), and he has again between 20 and 160ml of milk (usually 100)
Up again between 3:30 and 4:30, plays for half an hour or so, then into the highchair for tea (around 5ish) for about a cup, maybe more of vegies (with meat leftovers, or a fish finger, or some sausage), clean teeth
Bath about 5:30
20-160ml milk, then bed between 6 and 6:30.
After vegies at lunch and tea I offer finger food, fruit, or some cheese or bread (again, not alot gets eaten!)
Other than rusks, and occasionally some of my bread when I have lunch if I'm eating and he's up (I usually eat when he goes back down for his nap) he doesn't snack during the day (he's not really up at morning or arvo tea time, or its close to lunch or dinner!)
He's drinking milk out of his cup at breakfast now (water the other 2 meals) so he doesn't have very much of his morning bottle anyway (he's always eaten first, then had the bottle before his nap)

Sorry to hijack girls but the other April Babies thread is very quiet.
I'm trying to wean DS off his 3 bottles (or at least cut out his arvo bottle)...should I offer breakfast first and just make it bigger? Gosh, that sounds so stupid! DS isn't a big eater either BW. ATM, his daily menu look like this:
7.30am - 240ml bottle
8.00am - 1 x Weetbix, sometimes he only eats half.
1.5 hour nap
11.00am - rice cake
12.00pm - chicken risotto or beef and veg, followed by stewed apples and yoghurt
1.5 hour nap
3.30pm - 240ml bottle
5.00pm - 1.5 slices of WM bread with either avocado or melted cheese, he feeds himself his dinner.
6.15pm - 240ml bottle
6.30pm - bed
Also, shellbell, do you make Luke's custard? I do have a recipe but wonder if he should have sugar?
I guess I'm really stuck on what to offer for snacks. SAO's, rice cakes?? Do your babies sit in the highchair for snacks?

My suggestion for cutting out the bottles you want to get rid of, is first cut down the morning one (to say half), and also (as you suggested) try brekky first, then bottle.
Try cutting it down first, and increasing brekky.
Also, at 3:30, I would offer him milk in a cup (only about 100-120ml) and some fruit or a piece of cheese, or something (something little though) and no bottle, he'll still get his milk but less of it!
Then at tea time you could do the same thing with the milk, offer some of his bottle in a cup then he's having less at bedtime which means when he wakes in the morning, he'll want more brekky etc etc.
As for custard, I make Benjamin's custard, and I use a little bit of vanilla essence, and a little bit of sugar...even adding some, theres likely to be alot less in the home made one than the bought one (having tasted both...well...all 3...premade jar, the stuff from the dairy section, and mine).
Mine is definitely more bland, but once you add some fruit its plenty sweet enough!
Oh and snack wise, theres rice bscuits (the plain sakata style ones), those little mini toasts (but make your own its cheaper!), fresh fruit pieces, rusks, cheese (or cheese sticks), dried fruit (sultanas etc), clix or ritz bickies, water crackers, cruskits, you could even give Nutrigrain (nice little finger food sized bits!), or those mini wheat cereals, bread.
Once benjamin is finally eating snacks, we'll be trying to stick to the fresh fruit (or dry bickies if we are out)
I'm cutting Benjamin's bottles out at the moment (kind of!), we are down to 120ml of cows milk in them, and at the moment he's leaving some anyway, and then what I do is read him a story in the glider chair, then put him to bed. Once that habit is established, I'll still read the book (maybe 2), but won't give him any milk.

breakfast @ 7am- toast and fruit or 2 weetbix or fruit musli
bottle @ 9 am - into bed for nap
Lunch 11-12 - what ever is going usually veges or sandwich , chicken nuggets or sasuage
Arvo - biccies , cheese or fruit or jarred fruit
bottle @ 2
dinner @ 5
Bath and teeth @6
bottle and bed by 7pm - 6am
he only has 1 nap now in the mornings and is up for the rest of the day .

Update - the 3.30pm bottle is gone! DS now has 120ml of cold milk in a sippy cup with a straw, he likes to be upright, go figure....and half a banana.
Plus, I made custard for the first time ever. I think I've eaten more than DS, memories of childhood, ahhh...

Thats great about the milk in a cup. Benjamin has always been good drinking from a cup (he used a sippy cup from 2 months to about 6, then we moved on to a straw).
He's got the grizzles again...I'm hoping its his teeth...his nose sounded a little clogged yesterday, that suggests that he'll have an ear infection in a few days but we'll see!!

BW, what is the progression from bottle to cup? Is a straw cup just before a normal cup? I swear, I have got so many cups for DS! I have a Heinz sippy cup which I can't regulate the flow, a Mag Mag straw cup (a gift) but the cover is broken and I just bought a Nuby straw cup but DS can't figure out yet that he needs to bite on the straw for the water to flow.
Is BJ still clogged up? How many teeth does he have? DS has about 8.

Sequoia, every child is different when it comes to cups, we use a mag mag cup, but I need to get a second one at some stage!
We had the sippy attachment for his avent bottles which is why he used them, but they don't make straw ones anymore (hence the magmag!)
I've always gone sippy then straw as a straw is a faster flow and requires more regulation from the child.
Benjamin can however also drink from a cup (well, medicine one) without a straw etc.
He has 20-50ml of gaviscon infant occasionally, and he drinks it straight from the medi cup (with my help of course!).
As for clogged etc, still just the 7 teeth...he got over dual ear infections and a throat infection, but we've just today been the to Dr again as he was displaying his usual "ear infection behaviours" and he has fluid in his ear....we have a "just in case" prescription, and will ride it out for a couple of days to see if he can kick it himself.
We are likely to be getting grommits put in though as this is just not good for him, and also, I'm starting to feel its the reason he won't stand up much, I know fluid in the ear can make you feel off balance......
He is crawling (hands nad knees, and commando...whichever is quickest/easiest at any given moment!).

I am making cupcakes today for playgroup tomorrow. Vanilla with chocolate icing with a chocolate Easter egg on top to carry through the Easter theme since DS's birthday is on Thursday. I think I am more excited about his birthday than I've ever been for mine!

Happy Birthday BJ! We must all be getting there now!
Liam decided to cling to my leg tonight when I was going through is 'gate' into his bedroom. I kept walking slowly and he followed along behind me holding on. Then when I stopped, he kept one hand on my leg and walked all the way around me to the front of me! Since then, he's been toddling around - sometimes holding on, sometimes not! He had nearly 6 steps by himself at one point and seemed mighty impressed with himself!
He's also beginning to understand where he's allowed to go in our living area so I've been 'letting him loose' in the evenings and he just plays on the floor in front of the lounge where I'm sitting - soooo cute! I have to remind him every now & then that 'No, you're not allowed there. Come back here'. Then a 'good boy - I'm so proud of you' when he obeys.. Is this what everyone else is doing? :dunno:
I've got a pretty informal thing planned for LIam's birthday - just a play at the local play cafe. Nothing huge. But if anyone wants to visit, they're welcome to come!! ;)

Russell has been wakling since mid Feb. is now climbing on things and is getting into mischief constantly.he knows not to touch the pklaystation ect and my books but having trouble keeping him out of the pots pans and utensils.
what dose it mean if hes waking twice anight thristy. last night he woke at 10 drank 240 ml water then 180ml milk. we are going to have a cold lunch at the park. we have lots of kiddi friends so wanted the space KWIM. Its also my sisters b'day and shes having a dozen 12yr olds coming so yeah. to many ppl for my place.
update. my prents have sold 1 of there 3 properties and are moving in with me. we are currently renovating our downstairs so russell and i can move down whilst dad renos upstairs. we will be sharing a room till xmas.so will be 8 ppl in my 4BRM 1 garageb/roomtiny 2 story house till xmas. rob and i are still living apart and year has not gone well. my parents move to NZ at xmas, had to but my little girl down9dog) and rob an i have hit rock bottom. hoping to start a fresh very soon .

Zennie We went through this a couple of weeks ago with Luke. he has been an awesome sleeper (hasn't had a night feed since 2 - 3 months old) and then all of a sudden started waking for a bottle. It was driving me crazy! I ended up calling Trescillian as I didn't want to start a night feed at this late stage. They told me if he was draining the bottle he was hungry. They suggested that I change his night time bottle to a heavier formula one and make sure he has dessert (like yohgurt and not fruit) before bed. Luke has cows milk during the day and Nulac "dreamtime" formula before bed. It knocked it on the head almost straight away. We now notice that if he doesn't havehis bottle he wakes up for it.
I do have a hungry little hippo though!

Happy birthday to all the bubbas who i have missed, Coops birthday is at the end of the month and I am sooooo excited! We are having a BBQ lunch at our house with our friends and their children, we have 40 acres so there is stacks of room for the older kids to play! Cooper is now walking everywhere, can't believe how quick he can move!!!! Where has my baby gone?
He is still not such a great sleeper so i have rung our local sleep settling clinic as we are both going insane, he is fabulous during the day but not so great at night, is still wakingat least twice and takes around 20-30min to get back to sleep. so fingers crossed they can help me out!

I'm sorry I missed a couple of birthdays! We've been so busy preparing for Benjamin's Party (which was today, and absolutely FANTASTIC!) we had the best day!

Oh and is unrelated news, I no longer have to surprise my Brother and his fiance with Bj in a suit at their wedding, they asked him to be ring bearer!! Can't wait! Totally Thrilled!
