it still amazes me how quick it has gone!
Charlie has started to scrunch his whole face up when he laughs looks soo funny - is anyone elses little one doing this? I wonder if it is a stage they go thru
Nope no tree up yet, was planning to get it up by the first week of december though esp seeings we wont be in our house for chrissy. last yr we had a real tree which smelt so nice but messy when it starts dying (& we stayed in melb)
we have to actually buy a fakey DH wants to go all out and get a really good one that is big & will last for a while to come. i just wanna decorate it up all pretty!
nickers - how long do real trees last for?
2000 Posts - YEAH!!!!!!:happyforyou:
Whoo Hoo Jacci!!
oh cool i just ticked over 1500 posts.
Trees usually last 3-4 weeks, they drink heaps of water so have to make sure you top them up everyday.
at their peak they smell sooo nice, but when they start dying all the needle like leaveas start falling. its best to get rid of it b4 it goes too dead or it becomes even more messy!
we always had a real tree growing up & just the smell brings back great chrissy memories!
Hey all well we had our appt with the speech pathologist she doesn't think he has the over active gag reflex she thinks it is more to do with the feel of certain things in his mouth so we have to brush his teeth (well his gums) Is anyone else doing this? not something you think about when they have no teetch but you should be doing it if they are on solids gets them uin a good routine and gets rid of any bacteria!there are a few other things but basically just perserverence so yeah!
Christmas tree - isn't it bad luck to put it up before the 1st of Dec or is that just something my mum told me so we wouldn't harp on about it! anyhow that is when ours will go up!
Hi everyone.
Chrissy tree goes up after 1st Dec in our house. Looking forward to getting the house all christmas-y this year. I've offered to have Mark's family's traditional christmas eve dinner at my place (Am I mad?) just so I have an excuse to do up the house.
TMX Elmo - I soo want one! I wasn't going to bother because Janae had a TM Elmo & a cheer elmo (spells his name) but she hated both until she was about 18mths old. But, she pulled it out the other day (cheer Elmo, the other one broke) and Josiah LOVES it, so now I have an excuse to buy TMX.
Solids - I always give Josiah his food anywhere from 45mins - 2hrs after his bottle (depending on his sleep patterns) and he gobbles it up, a good couple of tablespoons each time. Gonna hold off on the zucchini tho, everytime he's had it, it's taken him ages to go to sleep coz of wind. I didn't know zucchini could do it, but it's the only common factor on those nights.
Work - I LOVE my new job! :) It's such a nice place to work, and so organised. And I get to play with all the electronic gadgets and machines - I'm such a gadget freak :)
I gotta go - I think I'm going to vomit...Josiah ended up with gastro on the weekend, Mark's had it the last 2 days...I'm NOT going to be sick!!
Congrats Theresa - cool for having christmas at home and poor G
What are you doing in your new job Bel, seeing you have all these gadgets to play with ??
Becky, we haven't thought about brushing teeth/gums at all yet
And congrats on the count for both Jacci and Nickers
Apparently my mum is up from Melbourne for the day with work... so we're gonna try and catch up at lunchtime. She flies back too early (with colleagues) so can't do anything afterwards
hi there
well my day just got unreal.!!! i have been looking for extra work but in the times that gav can have charlie. then today i went to my normal job and the ladyhere asked me if i wanted extra hours i thought that would be great coz i bring charlie here but she said that her daughter is opening another child care centre here and that they wanted me to do the books and charlie could go there for free......... awesome...
That is great, Jacci. I start working at the family cafe in Freo on Sat. My sister is short one person and she's asked me to fill in for 5.5 hours. Karl thinks it's a great idea for me to get out of the house, and for him to spend some time learning to look after C. I think it's great coz it means a little bit of spending money for me!
Theresa, sorry to hear that G is feeling off. It's hard when they're so anxious to learn to crawl too, and it sure sounds like she is! I bet she's full of beans too, so having to sit in a swing must be frustrating her.
Abs enjoy your lunch!
Christmas Tree: I wanted to put one up before we left on the 2nd, but DH is of the belief that it can't go up before the 1st either, and now wants us to wait until we get back on the 18th to put it up. Bah! So I'll only have it up for 2 weeks!
Hi everyone,
Mitch - I have emailed you your SS details!
Bel - I am glad that you like your knew job, what are you doing?? I hope you aren't sick!!!
Jacci - good news on the extra hours, I have to go back full-time for the next 2 months but that is okay!!
Abs - I hope you got to see your Mum!!
Theresa - good to hea rthat the girls are getting better, you are so fantastic and I am sure people will really appreciate your support!!
Christmas tree - it is bad luck to put it up before the 13th, should go up 12 days before and come down 12 days after Christmas!!!
Sushee - I was reading in the SS tips section that you like crime books, I am a crime freak and have done quite a few forensic courses and serial killer, DNA courses at UWA, I also have heaps of books, most of which i get from london, from a book store called real crime, if you want to borrow any let me know. I have a couple written by John Douglas who was the chief behavioural scientist at Quantico for 25 years, it is amazing, he is the only man to interview Ted Bundy before he was executed, they are really interesting if you are into that stuff!!
Also I am doing a serial killer course at UWA in January, it is run by Robin Napper who is head of the forensics here in Perth!!
Okay, I am not really a psycho, I just always wanted to be a forensic psychologist (long before shows like CSI etc..) the only problem was when I wanted to do it you had to go to Melbourne Uni and I just didn't want to leave Perth then!!
Hi to everyone else, better go do some work!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my man today, I can't believe he is 7 MONTHS OLD
Happy 7 month birthday Tyron!
Happy Birthday Tyron - feels like yesterday when you and i were msg each other in hospital!
OMG... Who said that these babies could grow up so fast!!!!!! It is not fair... they wont be babies for long... waaaaahhhhhhhh
It sure does Jacci!! Almost time for another one!! Well not quite yet, I am really enjoying Tyron and I think I will need to build a bigger house first, Tyron has so much stuff I don't know where I am going to put another baby and all their stuff!!!
Does anyone else get sad when you pack away their clothes, I also think what a waste, it cost a fortune and you have only worn it twice!! I always wanted a girl, but now I think I need to ahve another boy to use all the things we already have!!!
Happy 7months Tyron!!
Lisa i was packing away some stuff on Nixon's today and thinking oh my god. if we have a girl next MAYBE most of this stuff will never be pulled out again... bit sad it was... & yes he has filled one large vacuum sucker bag thingy and ive started filling the 2nd one & he's not even 1!!
I know what you mean re the clothes Lisa - understanding that we tended to go mostly for the cheap stuff, with a couple of nice things for going out or special visitors... made a big difference to the cost. And Happy 7 for Tyron
I gave most of mine away to a friend of my sisters who was due to have a boy. Well the boy has arrived and he was 10lb + and his mother reckons he's in a 0s already (which is probably not quite true, but who knows for sure?) Unfortunately C is in 0s, and in smaller 1s, so no point giving her his clothes anymore.
Also, yesterday C sat in my mum's car in my niece's car seat facing forward. He loved it so much being able to see me that I've changed his car seat in my car to forward facing now too. He's just on 8kgs so was not going to do it until I got home from holidays, but he just loves it! It on a slight recline too (yay for Safe & Sounds car seats) so he even had a little nap when I drove DH to work, and his head didn't loll at all.
Must admit to feeling sad yet again that my boy is growing up so fast!.
Alexa is still under 7kg & Is now forward facing, she kept pulling herself up rear facing so she could see so I just turned her round & she loves it LOL
What a difference it makes, doesn't it mitch? I actually love being able to look back and see him smiling his little toothless grin at me now! This morning, driving DH to work, it felt like there were 3 of us there, chatting and being sociable, instead of DH and I talking and C looking out the back window in isolation!
i think Nixon is close o 8kg now so we will be turning the seat around in the next week or two.
Jen has this cute mirror that goes against the head rest "in front of him" so Jen can very clearly see him whilst still in the rear facing mode in her rear-vision mirror...
Though one of the many tasks on the whiteboard is for me to turn the seat around
Charlie is facing the front and he loves it - i find it soo much easier and i find he keeps himself amused alot more by what is going on around him and looking out the windows.
I am up to box number 4 of charlies clothes! I am hoping my friend that is pregnant at the moment has a boy so she can borow them.
Lisa - I only have a 2 bedroom house and my loungroom always looks a mess coz so much stuff is in it - all toys and blankets everywere. i couldn't fit another child anywere!
Charlie is rolling around everywere - yesterday i put him neer the loungroom door and he rolled the 5 meters all the way to the heater and then was just about to put his hand on it before i got to him - can't belive how quick he got over there! - so today i got a fire gaurd!.
We have 2 bedrooms & a sunroom, alexa is in the sunroom & matt & his brother (when he stays), ae in the bedroom & jeff & I are in the other, so my place is always a mess, plus we have NO storage space whatsoever (damn old houses & there lack of cupboards)....
& A wee woohoo for me Alexa finally cut her first tooth yesterday!!!!... so heres hoping that the last 3 nights of hell are tooth related & not just her being a toad LOL
I'm sure it was tooth related Mitch - congrats Alexa !!
We're in a new place and about the only real storage place is the cupboard under the stairs. Have a walk in robe but that's full of clothes and some boxes of stuff on top of the shelf, plus a few more older boxes of stuff up in the roof via the manhole in the w-i-r
Cupboards etc, eg linen blah blah was not something a single guy really things of when looking at buying a place (nearly 7yrs ago)... Now I'm a bit more educated, it would be a bit more higher on the priority :p
Abs - isn't it funny how your priorities change - gav bought a house years before, and it was the same as you - he just looked at the garage and roof! i looked at all the cupboards and stuff.
HAPPY 7 MONTHS JORDY!!!!!
Mitch - YEAH on the new tooth! charlie hasn't cut any yet! hope you geta good nights sleep soon. How are you renevations coming long?
hang on ABS - your little boy should be over 7 months
Renovations going slowly, almost have a functioning bathroom again, the bath tiles are being finished this weekend, then I just ahve to finish painting it.. I cant wait, I also have a guy coming at the end of the month to do my paved BBQ area & trellis fence to keep alexa in..... I will have to put up a before & after pic on alexas website for you to see once it is done.....
My parents had Alexa last night for me, but I still woke up twice grrrrrr... and they have her tonight cause I am going out for tea with the mums from ante natal class for dinner... should be a laugh!!!!! So it will obly be me & jeff home tonight ;) (he will be coming home tonight, then away again on Sun avo)... so he better watch out LMAO, AF has left & Im ready to party hehehe.....(maybe I should limit my alcohol consumption tonight hehehe!)
Jac, he turned 7(months) a week ago !
Mitch - hehehe... Jen's AF left 2 days ago and we were having a little cuddle this morning (after brekkie, in the kitchen after I'd washed up) that ended up going further than we'd thought initially (no complaints though ;) )
ETA - ah I see Jac... the ticker mob are screwing it up again... note it says "7 months, old" - tis missing the days part - actually should read 7 months 1 week. Mitch, shouldn't yours be 8months, 1week and 2days ??
Yup it should ABS, but I am gonna try & make a new one with Alexas photo in it over the weekend.....
mmm wonder whats going on there ABS
Yay Alexa for cutting her first tooth! Definatley her grumpiness would have been tooth related.
Nixon cut his 1st tooth about 2weeks ago, then the 2nd not long after. They are making a slow journey up though, still have a fair way to go and his cheeks are still fire red hot at the moment.......
went for a lovely walk & then picnic with my gf and her 4 1/2 month old today. awesome day in melb today.
Abs i bought one of those mirrors 9that u stick on the back window yeah?) but didnt suit that car cause i have a station wagon.
DH just got us a couple of Tix to see Billy Joel Sunday night, i am trying to find a baby sitter, hopefully someone can mind Nixon for us i really wanna go!
Hey all well there is going to be another addition to our growing family my SIL just announced she is 6 weeks pregnant early days yet fingers crossed for her she had been trying for a while now this will be there second bub they have a 3 y/o boy Elyjah and he is very excitted at the prospect of becomming a big brother he is hoping for a sister but we shall leave that in the hands of nature!
no idea re tickers Jac - have seen it go ga-gah's before
Mitch, I've been meaning to do a new one for Jordy for ages - that photo is of him at only a month or so old !! Not to mention I haven't put any new pics on his website in nearly 2 months :o Jen's been at me for aaaggeesss to update it, not to mention everyone else
Nickers - the back window of a wagon would definitely be the wrong spot... too far away. Jordy is sooo sitting up (but occasionally still falling over) - and so will probably turn his car seat around over the weekend
Awesome on your sister Becky - sticky vibes her way
Got Jen's xmas pressy at lunch time, including the cover. Will wrap the cover and give that to her for the pressie on the day (looks like we'll be in Melbourne for xmas day - maybe come down the day before and back on Boxing day) - will assemble it after we get back
Happy 7mths for Tyron, Lisa. U sure are right on the clothes. Wow Lisa, my old boss always wanted to be one too. I love CSI & similar shows. :)
Yikes Jacci, good thinking bout the guard. Oh poor Charlie, let's hope it clears up for good. Yay on the posts. WTG on the job, sounds perfect.
Wow, 1st tooth for Alexa, yay Mitch. PMSL, party on.
Sush, I rang Myer the other day, they said around $3 for a plain bauble (but out of stock for 70mm & no idea when restocking) + $5 to personalise & will stop taking orders early Dec as takes few wks. Hmm 2wks doesnt seem long to have tree up, hope u can come to an agreement. I dont believe in all that 'bad luck' stuff. :)
Wow Bec, I had no idea on the brushing the teeth, makes sence but, yikes. Great news on Declan though.
Hey Bel, zucchini is actually on the 8mth safe list (see solids link in page 1), no idea why, maybe that's it. WTG on ur job. Oh no, hope ur all well shortly, yuk. :)
Oh no poor Georgie Theresa. Wow, u cope with so much.
Amy, hope u had fun shopping & at the party.
Nickers, Nixon looks very cool in that pic, hehe.
Holly went her body length forwards on Sun, she normally only goes backwards, but it's not crawling, more like a caterpillar, moves both arms at same time, then both legs. Loves to rock back & forward though but she gets too excited & propels herself forward flat on her tum, so funny.
At mum's group we all dressed up for the cup & had a sweep, I ended up with Geordieland & Iced Cherry, but didnt win, hehe. We've drawn our SS for mums group, have a $20 limit, so prob off to ToysRUs this wkend, along with the email vouchers from them (just rego with em & u get coupons regularly).
Holly's 3rd tooth is finally cutting thru (Tue), so hopefully the runny poos etc will be gone soon. Nappy rash got much worse (raw, bleeding) & now is looking better again but still raw areas. I've been using her excema cream (lil bit starting to come back on her face again) twice/day & canesten then zinc+castor oil cream (thick) every nappy change. On/off she's been doing #2's every nappy change, then there might be a break then back again.
Holly was still drinking 5-6 bottles / day & put on heaps, no wonder she has chubby legs, a double chin & bb's now...hehe. Now I feed her her bottle, then wait 1-1.5hrs & give solids then bed & when she's up again she has a bottle, but is now only having 4 bottles & 2 solids & sleeping thru again, yay. She usually has 2 ice-cubes, sometimes 3.
Hi Everyone,
Hope you are all well, I don't have time for personals right now, need to get ready for work, but will do them later.
Just popped on to give my exciting news.....
Abbey can crawl! :happyforyou: She finally worked out how to get her hands and legs going the right way at the right time and crawled. Was so exciting! She can't go to far yet, just a bit then starts doing the caterpillar crawl (like holly, Shell) but boy is she fast at getting around. looks like I will be on my toes from now on.
We are trying to get a video of it, and when I do I will put it on the website.
be back later.
Yay Amanda, that is exciting, except for the having to run around after her, hehe.
I have some news too, today, I noticed Holly doing the pushups onto toes, haven't seen her do it b4 & remember a few bubs on here were doing it a while ago. Abbey was one right Amanda?
wow, congrats to both Holly and Abbey - woohoo
I'm not looking forward to when Mr gets his movement going - still got a few things to secure properly - maybe another task for this weekend
