congratulations Abs!! loved reading your story, Now the fun begins! How exciting!
Abs - Love your story!!!! It is great! can't wait to see photo's of the big day!
Pillows- I asked the health nurse about and she said it was fine - it is a really thing pillow and he snuggles into heaps - won't sleep without one now they say between 9 and 12 months is fine.
hmm, photo's - now thats gonna be fun... going to have to look into that
And cool on the pillows - Charlie is probably bigger than quite a few 1yr olds anyway ;)
Thanks for the kind words about my story everyone, sorry for the length
One of the things we did whilst away was go to the Hunter Valley Zoo. The current owners have only had it 5 months - still run down, previous owners had it for 18 months and let it get worse... Still, the new folks have big plans with lots of work to be done.
Jordy loved some of the animals, quite happy with the ducks, but got scared with the geese and very agitated with the sheep and goats... more so when he was down at their level (in pram, or "standing") vs in my arms - have 2 photo's with the ducks, so will upload those at some stage. Most of the time it was really hot, so other than a "picnic" at Dungog in a park, where it was like 40degC and blowing a gale, not much time was spent outside. We did also stop in Morphett and look at some of the shops there... Got a cute bunny in a hat hand puppet thing that you stick your hand into to make the bunny appear, oh and stopped at a Lavender Farm - he charmed the ladies there too
What a fantastic story Abs!!
jacci - thanks for the info on pillows, i thought they couldn't have one til they were 2, its good toknow they can have one sooner if they like. have you worked out how to stop him getting out of the cot? Friend of mine has a 10 months old who started to scream everytime they put him in the cot, so she just put him in a single bed and they haven't had a problem since. He has fallen out a couple of times but its not very high and they have pillows on the floor in case. Something to think about anyway.
Archie had his pic in the local newspaper today, they do a thing every year for the babies born in the prvious year, you get to submit a photo and a little message, will have to put it in the baby book before i lose it.
Congrats Abs!! Best wishes to you and Jen and lil' Jordy
Sooz Timbo & Amber
oh awesome Elissa! something nice to keep for Archie!
pillow- im a bit silly i put it in Nixon's bed in his day time sleeps but not in his night time sleep? Its also a very thin one.
Nickers - thats how i started - I was scared he would suffocate at night - but then it got to the stage were he wouldn't sleep without it.
Is it Declan's turn for Happy 10months today?
Oh and Happy 9months to Olivia for yesterday
Happy monthly birthday months to all the bubbas...
Alexa is 11 months today ... OMG!!!!!! that means it is her 1st birthday in a month... arghhhhhhh
Yikes from here too Mitch, but congrats too. Amazing how time has flown by
Happy 10 for Declan yesterday and 9 for Olivia the day before... We should have a list somewhere of who was on what day - damn that list being dropped from the start of the thread :(
Abs - CONGRATULATIONS and best wishes, I hope you have a wonderful day and that it is all that you hope it to be!! Make sure you take lots of pictures, we want to see!!!
Jacci - I can'ty believe Charlie escaped, Tyron struggles standing up, must be the fact that he is too heavy, he can hardly support his own weight!!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to all the babies, I can't believe we are organising first birthday parties already, seems like yesterday that they were born. I tell you 9 months of baby goes much quicker than 9 months of pregnancy!!!
Hi to everyone else, I hope you are all having a great week!
wow! not far til all the birthdays start happening!! how exciting and scarey!!
Mitch - i only just realsied that Alexa was born 7 weeks early and is nearly 1 already! is everything okay with you both after such an early entrance to the world? She's absolutely adorable BTW.
Elissa... Than you i think she is a cutie too...but I am a bit biased LOL... We were really lucky & Alexa is jsut little, no ongoing health probs or anything... I had a bleed & part of my placenta stopped working and as a result ALexa had stopped growing so out she came... We were in NICU for 65 days & got home a week before her due date.. but on the plus side I made some wonderful friends in Nicu... (I lived in the hospital the whole time as i live out of town, not fun living in a ward for that long I tell ya LOL)
Hi There everyone
I know it's been a long time since i've come on here. Basically i was chatting to abs on msn and he encouraged me to drop by. Guess I've just been too busy to keep up with all the comings and goings.
Anyway Luke is 1 next month....so hard to believe...He has 2 big front teeth and 4 on the bottom. He is also crawling and walking around while holding onto things. He is really enjoying playing with his brother and sister right now. He plays cars with Jake and enjoys lots of cuddles from Leah (who carts him around).
I am sooooo in love with him. Almost tempted to go again but, after my last experience I'm sure my body wouldn't handle it.
I still have my prolapse but, i wear a pessary which holds it all in place. I could have surgery but, i dont want to just yet. Mainly because DP will be going away for work for 3 months. Also we don't have anyone to look after the kids up here while i'm laid up in hospital. So i'll just plod along.
I have had the implanon implant in my arm since June, so far so good. It lasts for 3 years and gives me complete peace of mind. Anyway that's enough from me for now. I'll try to check in now and then.
Kellie
Yay Jellie - glad you were able to pop in, and hope you pop in more soon
Our parents group is in the midst of organising a combined 1st birthday for all - April 22 (youngest was born May 11, oldest mid March)... so that'll be good
Photo's for Naming Day/Wedding... Jen has been in contact with the lady who did the B&W pics from a little while ago. Since we are a returning customer there's a 20% discount and will probably end up doing a contra with Jen anyway.
All digital images once again, and the CD will take about 2 weeks to organise due to her busy schedule around then. So probably just after Easter we should have them... I'll let you know once they are ready
well i am trying to pack the caravan as we are going away for gav's mountain bike race - should be quite nice in Apoolo Bay - Charlie and I are going to duck over to Torquay to do some shopping!!!
Jellie - great to hear from you!!
Mitch - OMG 11 months!!!!! WOWO!!!!!
Happy 11 months Alexa! wow birthday party next month!
Have a great Trip Jacci, im sure u will get lovely weather down there
Have fun Jac
Well I was gonna upload some new pics, but can't seem to update the main page - can't connect to the hosting area... but the pics are housed elsewhere so you can see the four new pics here - 2 shots of Jen & Jordy in windy 40deg heat under a tree in Dungog, then 2 of Jordy and ducks at the Hunter Valley Zoo
That boy is gonna need a haircut soon
the second one of Jordy and Jen is a great pic, sooo cute!
not much to report here, Nixon is still asleep wih his bum up in the air!
he is slithering backwards now, i wouldnt call it commando crawling just yet but every time he pushes himself up he slides back, and has been ending up stuck under the coffee table/lounge etc!
lucky you Nickers... Jordy has been awake/asleep/awake/asleep etc from 5am... But then on our bed this morning he was happily crawling down the end towards the cats
Dunno if he will do it on the carpet etc, we'll see. Its a first ! And his assisted walking is going in leaps and bounds
Sleep... what is that... Alexa was awake from 10.30 - 3am.. I am totally knackered... nothing would settle her.. but she has a top tooth through now & a second on the way so that probably explains it...
Bring of the coffee LOL...
Wont be on much for the next couple of days as Jeff & i are away for a dirty weekend LOL....
Wow Mitch & Jelliebean, ur bubba's will be 1 b4 u know it, closely followed by all the rest of the bubs. :)
Oh no Mitch, hope u all get some well deserved sleep shortly. Have fun on ur dirty wkend, PMSL.
Jellie, I hope u get that all sorted, surgery, child minding etc & have a fast recovery.
Ooh have fun Jacci.
Hehe Nickers, that's how Holly started, looks like a caterpillar motion huh, backwards first, then eventually forwards.
Yeah, happy month b'days to all (now & upcoming). :)
mitch, yay on a dirty weekend! DH and I got married on the 3rd of Jan but we celebrate our first date anniversary, which is the 16th of Feb. I wanted to book a hotel room, but have found out he's bought tickets to an outdoor cinema so we can bring Charlie along. Hope you have a great time, matey!
shell, when are you getting a pg av?
nickers, sounds like nixon will be off and running in no time. C is do a half commando/half normal crawl still but he's super fast and I can't take my eyes off him for a minute.
abs, love the photos. Jordy's hair is soooo blond!
jellie, hope the next 3 months flies for you so that you can get everything sorted.
Hi everyone else!
have fun over the weekend Mitch
Oopsie Sush, bugger - oh well. We had our 3.5yr 1st date anniversary last Sat night
okay 10month stats:
W : 10.4kg - a little above the 50%ile
L : 71cm - a little below the 50%ile
HC : umm, forgotten - but above the 50%ile
(from memory)
all in all, the ECHN was very happy with his progress
UH OOOHHHHHHH
On another forum I visit, one of the guys asked what to do with an unwanted ring - his partner said no when he proposed and had already bought the ring.
Anyway, I made a little mention that I was gonna be doing the asking, looking to surprise the attendee's at Jordy's naming day with us getting married. That plan is now in motion
But today I see one of the people in her industry that she is sortta friends with, certainly friends of friends of Jen. Bob just read my post from a while back and said "secret's out"
AARRRRGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Hi Everyone! :hello:
Sorry I have been MIA, been busy with house stuff, and packing :(
Congratulations Abs!! Good Luck to you and Jen and Jordy! Hope it all goes off without a hitch and you have a great day. Hope that the secret isn't out and Bob keeps quiet.
Mitch...have a good dirty weekend away, sounds like it would be fun, and hopefully you get some sleep soon (but not while your away lol)
WB Jellie...good to hear from you. The kids sound gorgeous together!
Jacci...yikes on charlie escaping, but how clever of him not to hurt himself.
1st Birthdays... can't believe how quick they are coming up...it will be here before we know it. Whats everyone doing? We are having a combined bday and christening (which now will also be to celebrate our engagement and new house lol) I brought the Womenes Weekly kids cake cookbook the other day so trying to decide what kind of cake to make. Also, what sort of pressies? We are thinking of getting a swing set with a baby seat part.
Sorry thats all I can remember I'll blame baby brain lol
Abbey had a MCHN checkup today, she weighs 7.6kg so has put on about 500g which is good. She also grew 2cms. She keeps standing without hanging onto anything and has pretty good balance and hardly ever falls.
We spent the long weekend in Dubbo, with my parents which was good. Except Abbey tried to stand in the bath (forthe first time) and slipped and chipped her tooth :( She hardly cried and there was no blood or anything but still felt bad about it. Mum was bathing her and feels so bad. Thing is I can't bath her anymore cause she wont sit down, so have to put her in the shower with chris.
Other then that we are all good.
Hi to everyoneI missed hope you are all good, abbey has taken off into the kitchen so have to go find her.
Thnx Sush, I'll have to find the thread of where to post for a new av. A preggy belly & a crawler (or bub holdin onto legs) :)
HC = 47.5cm
Yikes Amanda on the tooth
Turns out Jen has told her best friend in Melbourne, who reckoned it would be a good idea to tell her parents before the day - purely to stop things like "heart attack due to the surprise" etc. So we're off to see them tomorrow - plus its been 2 or 3 weeks since we've seen them anyway
Jen seems not fussed at all re wedding/engagement ring - happy for it to have no stones at all - would rather the money be spent on holiday or going towards Jordy's schooling etc... Will see about that
And I'd forgotten about it, but apparently there is a family wedding ring that mum still has. Me being the eldest son means it goes to Jen... mum got it from gran when she and dad got married (he was the only son)
Mitch - im so glad everything is okay! Living on the ward must have driven you insane! When Archie had his Op at 3 weeks i stayed on the ward for 3 nights and it really drove me round the bend listening to all the other bubs screaming all night. Hope that tooth hurries up and comes through so poor Alexa can sleep again.
Kellie - hi! Did your proplapse happen with Luke or before? Hope you can get the op soon, glad the implanon is working well and giving u piece of mind.
Amanda - Archie constantl;y stands up in the bath and slips over, he is so quick! he never gets scared when he falls face first into the water, so he keeps doing it..Hope Abbey is okay.
Apparently Archie crawled a couple of steps last night! DH saw him, he hasn't done it since though.
Good Afternoon all
Apollo Bay was really nice! had a ball Gav rode really well in the race - he completed 55klm's in 3.3 hours so he was really happy! the hills were horrible - I thought you couldn't even drive up them but gav was riding up them! 250 people had to pull out coz it was too hard. I'll upload a photo for you guys later
Charlie run a muck at the caravan park - he crawled everywere and we went swimming bot hdays so that was fun. we must of tired him out from the big weekend coz he just slep over 3 hours on the way home.
Anyway best go unpack some stuff.
Will BBL to do personals.
Jac
P.S - Mitch what is the dirty weekend for ???- I know its not your wedding aniversery coz we got married on the same day! is is a belated birthday pressie?
I know about the driving home Jac - Jordy slept the whole way home from the hunter valley last tuesday.
Our little man is so wanting to stand up without hanging onto things anymore - he has managed it for a few seconds at a time now. He also knows when he's about to topple coz his reflexes are lightning quick to grabbing onto something again
He was a little trouper today - we went out ring-shopping and he really only slept between shopping centres and then not for very long.
Started in Leichhardt to a place where Jen knew they did specific request stuff, but seems to have changed direction - basically everything on display was, in Jens words, "costume jewelry". She didn't really want to spend much on her ring, maybe even only $500, so I had no idea on what we were gonna get for her for that
Off to another shopping centre in Leichhardt (she was living in the suburb when we first started going out) - first shop yuk - the guy was "i do you a good deal" over and over... went to another and oh boy. I found 2 rings I liked (for me...) - found out my left ring finger is a Z+1 size, well we guessed it was. Hopefully they are ringing me back with a price for one of them tomorrow... took a photo of it with my phone which then died with a flat battery, so can't compare it to others to be seen (later when I recharged my phone, it's not a very good shot... probably too close to it), Tis maybe 4?mm wide, white gold on the outside rims with yellow & rose gold pattern inside. The other was very similar but 2 shades of yellow gold - I think, not having an image of it, my recall of it is blurred now
We then had some lunch and headed off via some detours so Jordy could sleep a little longer in the car, to another major shopping centre. Visited several jewelers and about to walk into another and we come across our exhousemate who now lives over the road, plus a friend of his. Now they dont know we're getting married, so we chatted to them until they walked off.
Jen's hoping that I like some of the rings in some of these jewelers to do a double purchase and get better prices, but none really catch my eye to be honest. Some even pickup on my "dislike". Anyway we finally get rid of Gary and Kasey and go into a Vivienne's store - Jen finds the one she wants. Tis more than double want she was thinking of, but is VERY happy with it... tis well under what I was willing to spend, so that has her sorted. I still dont really like anything they have
Jen has bargained them down a fair bit on her ring, and to get a price on the double with the "best" of what they had, but I dont want it I've decided. I've also changed my mind on the colour of the earlier ring to go with the other - it willa ctually go with the colour layout on my watch & watchband quite well
Both rings need to be sorted out size wise, be it adjusted or freshly made in the correct size, but at least that is now sorted - sweet. 7 weeks left as of earlier today
Jen has also told her good friend from Melbourne who will be up next weekend... they are going "whatever shopping" on Friday. Nic is sooo excited. And my sister Penny reckons she knows something is going on too - damn little sneak, she can ask just the right questions and I soo have to be on guard coz one slip and she'll know for certain
Oh and all the staff at the stores fell for Jordy, especially when he pulls out his grin - wraps em around any finger he likes he does ;)
Hope you've all had a good weekend, no doubt a certain young lady in NZ has
well - ive had a bad morning already!
Remember i was telling you about the friend of ours who's wife was cheating on him for 2 years well gavin rung this morning and he had hung himself. It is so sad - he has 2 children.
Anyway i better go get things ready for the day.
Jac
yikes
so sad :( some people have no idea of how their actions affect others (initially thinking here about HER, then also what he has now done). Hope you guys are okay - and thoughts go out to the children :(
oh gosh Jacci thats terrible. I hope you are ok and thinking of his poor children at this time.
omg Jacci our sympathies
Abs sounds like you had quite an adventure
Mitch I Hope you had a great W/E
as for us well Declan keeps forgetting he can't walk and he pulls himself up on something and then reaches for something letting go of what was keeping him up he stands for a bit and then crashes has hit his head so many times today!
I have to try and get him to open clinic on thursday I am keen to know how much he weighs and how long he is he hasn't been measure since 6mths I think it was maybe 7! Im not looking forward to the interigation that I will get from the clinic nurses over his sleeping issues!
Been busy dropping off AVON broshures today there are lots of good specials so I should make a bit this month I reckon which will be handy!
I think I have put all the weight I had lost back on how sad lately I have been so bloated and it is just yuky every time af comes I think I put on at least a kg!
becky - I hate AF time - feels like i put on a kilo everytime too! What sleeping issues does Declan have - I have probably read about them but please remind me again!
Well there's photo's of my gavi on the website now - he came 32nd out of 280 people so he is really quite happy with that for his first race.
Abs - I initially thought about HER too - but then i thought i know she did the wrong thing but no one deserves to live with that on there shoulders for the rest of there lives - so now i actually feel sorry for her. its funny how i have gone from being really angry at her to feeling sorry for her.
Yeah, I do know what you mean Jac re her too, it simply is such a hard thing to even fathom, regardless of the reason, be it work (like Penny's BIL) or relationship problems like your friend - I cannot even think of not wanting to see Jordy grow up
