Hi!
Deb - We haven't been out and about that much but I hope he loves the car as much as Louis used to! The day feeds for me are ranging from 2 1/2 - 3 hours at the moment and nights seem to be around the same...Soo tiring but I knew what I was in for - lol.
Great job on clearing your duct...I've had a few little lumps here and there but have managed to get rid of them before they've turned into anything...my boobs have settled down heaps now though and I keep forgetting which one I've fed on because they're quite soft...I've got heaps of milk though judging by the vomits - hehe!
Dylans had a big sleep so I've managed to get dinner cooked and cleaned the house already - yeah! So now just waiting to feed him and then I can chill out and head off to bed! I hope we all have good nights tonight!!
-
Well I think I jinxed myself - Luke had an up down day where he would only sleep for an hour at a time and was feeding him every 2 hrs or there abouts and tonite I go to feed him and I find that my nipples are cracked on one it's on the top and on the other it's on the bottom.
Kristie, I had Luke leak on me yesterday before we went to a BBQ. Mark put the nappy on so I blamed him lol. Mark says the same about Luke with the super suck he noticed it when he fed him a bottle.

hi guys. we are going well but i dont get nearly enough time to check BB. little iggy is just devine and we are trying to stay as cruisy as possible as he reaaly does pick up on our moods. we have started back on our usual dog walks which i am very happy about n have tried to go on an outing every couple of days. i go a bit crazy if i dont. i had a coffee the other day n regretted it as ig was really fussy 4 about 4 hours after.we discovered a bit of cradle cap yesterday so lathered on the olive oil n it is looking a lot better. think thats all from us atm. :)
-
Caro: I cant even begin to imagine how hard it is for you. I am stressed out to the max and not coping well myself atm, and I keep saying to Dh "What if we had another child at home too?"
I really hope you find a way to get on top of it all.
We have our first MCHN visit today thank god. Mason has been choking on mucous again so I need to find out if they can suction it out for him. He never cries except when he has it :(
-
Danni, Ben's fine in the HAB. He has a pretty strong neck and throws his head around a lot, but the HAB kinda holds it in place. I thought I might have trouble with my massive boobs being in the way, but it's not a problem. Ben's in the HAB right now actually as he was taking a while to settle after his feed.
We had another good night. The midwife came out today and he's put on more weight :) I've got one more midwife visit before they discharge me and the Family Heath Nurse takes over. The mw was really pleased with our bfing 'technique' so that made me happy and more confident. I'm waiting for my folks to get here so we can take Ben and the dog for a walk.

Hey Danni,
I have a girl, Olivia, who was born on the 1st of April, I think shes the oldest in this group!!! And I think you are right there are only 2 other girls! Olivia was the only girl in our due date group. I think there must have been something in the water, or in our case not!!!!
As for me, I went to the doctors again last night and have mastitis in the left breast. I thought the ab's from the right side mastitis would keep things clear, but I was wrong:(
I am still expressing, but not much, so the doc has given me some tablets to clear up my milk. At the start of this whole bf saga, I felt like a failure, especially after the day stay at the lactation clinic, BUT now I dont care because I have my sanity back and Olivia is stacking on the weight, not loosing it like she was while I was bf.
So things are good here, just over a week left until we see the specialist about going into a harness for her hips.
Sorry I dont do personals atm, just busy, like you all are, but am keeping up to date with everyones progress. Hope you are all well.
Love Melissa

Hi Everyone. Thought I'd pop in and introduce myself (to those I don't know from the Belly Buddies group)
Well, I can add one more girl to the list amongst all these boys! My DD Hazel Alice was born on Thursday 26th of April and weighed 3.14kg. She is truly gorgeous.
We are both doing well so far, no baby blues and BF well. One of my nipples is a bit sore when she latches on but ok when she gets going. Not too tired yet, she sleeps pretty well most of the time, and I actually had to wake her yesterday for a feed. In general she seems like a really chilled out and calm baby, but I know that could change any time so I won't get too complacent!
Need to change my ticker, I know, and will get around to it one of these days!
Looking forward to getting to know you all :D
-
welcome christy and Hazel and I share the same birthday :D
-
yay, another girl!!!! Welcome:)
-
My tiny baby is not so tiny anymore!
He has put on 490 grams in 7 days! OMG!!
-
Hi!
We went shopping today and I bought some gorgeous little 000 trackies and jumpers - sooo cute. He's not ready to go in them yet but won't be long.
Also had to sort out our toddler seat as they gave us the wrong one so have to wait until Thursday for the right one to come in - was very annoying not having when we were shopping as dh had to carry Louis! (He can walk but runs away cos he's cheeky!)
We've decided to invest in a baby cocoon carrier thing as unless we take our pram everywhere we've got nowhere to put him! lol. Will be very handy for visiting people etc and him having a "bed" to sleep in rather than us holding him - will also keep my hands free for running after Louis...don't know why I didn't think of this before but oh well!
We had a really bad night last night - ended up feeding nearly every hour but he'd only take one side and then fall back asleep. Anyway..I'm so tired today...hopefully tonight will be better. I think it was partly my fault as I kept falling asleep when feeding so he basically did as he pleased which was snack all night...then I'd fall asleep when I was burping him so he'd be asleep on my chest until I woke again...so tiring.
Iona - Sorry to hear about your cracked nipples - hope they heal for you soon. Have you tried lansinoh cream?? I've found it really helpful on my nipples and it's safe to put on for bubba...
Caro - Sorry to hear your having a rough time - I'm sure your daughter will come around in time...I understand how hard it can be having the two - I'm very nervous about being on my own next week but I figure I can only do what I can do...I haven't had tears yet but I'm sure they'll arrive next week! hehe.
Krysalyss - Glad to hear your going well!!
Danni - Hope your mchn appt went well! Wow on the weight gain - what's he up too?
Disgirl - Thats great everythings going so well!!! How much does Ben weight now??
Melissa - Glad you have things sorted with the feeding - we each have to do what works for both us and bubba!
Christy - Hi! How great that your all doing so well!! You never know - she may stay cruisy!!
-
Caro - great big hugs to you!! Hopefully things will start to settle down soon for you
Kristie - got the lansinoh cream yesterday and have been lathering it on as much as possible so that I can get back to bfing Luke. I emailed ABA and they say that it could be caused by nipple confusion as we were giving him water before feeds for wind and mark was starting to feed him a bottle of express milk once a day. so back to cutting out them. Got some infant's friend for the wind tho so will try that out as well
Danni - glad to hear that MAson is doing well. How did the appt go??
-
mason now weighs 3350grams!! He doesnt look any bigger than birth though
Kristie: We have the valco cocoon and it is priceless! We use ours all the time. Well worth it!
The nurse just weighed him and checked I was feeling well etc. Next week is the appt where they measure and do the full check up :)
-
Hi!
Iona - I'm sure you'll get back on track soon!
Danni - Ooh good - I can't wait to get it! It's amazing how quickly they grow though!
-
Hi all,
No time fo rpersonals, though thought I'd quickly post.
We had a pretty bad night and day. Lily hardly slept and was really unsettled last night- I think I jinxed myself by saying how good a sleeper she was at night! She also only cat napped today and woke whenever I put her into her cradle. I tried feesing her to sleep and sleeping with her but even then she wouldn't sleep. We couldn't put her down or she'd cry and she was feeding every two hours.... Finally at about two this arvo, she fell asleep and she's STILL sleeping. I think I'll have to wake her to feed and try to get her to sleep for the most of night like she was before.
Anyway must go, I hoep everyone is doing well.
Kel.
-
Hi ladies
Kristie - we have the valco cocoon as well, I agree with Danni - its very usefull. I had a bad night the other night as well, Kaan was up every 2 hours and wouldnt settle. I think we just have to get used to having some nights like that.
Danni - ur little boy sounds like mine, we just had our 2 week visit and he has put on 500grams in a week, so thats 1kg since we left hospital. He has also grown 3.5cm. BF is well worth the effort when you get those kind of results.
Iona - i was also giving my boy expressed milk from a bottle, i found that he got confused so I stopped it, now he feeds really well from the breast. Hope it works for you too.
Kel- Hope you are doing better. Dont worry i think we are all in the same boat, most nights are good, but every now and then we have a very bad night - unsettled and dont want to sleep. I find that he falls asleep in my arms, but starts crying when i put him down - and this usually happens in his morning feeds.
Welcome Christy, nice to have another baby girl in here.....too many of us have boys.
My nipples are also sore when he first latches on - hope it gets better!!
Ok, im off for another feed. Hope everyone is doing well.
-
Hi!
Kel - Sorry to hear you've had a rough night/day - It's good you've had a break this arvo though - Hope she sleeps well for you tonight!
Sammy - You are very right! Bad nights are just part of it all in these early weeks (months - lol) Wow on the weight gain - thats fantastic!
Finally I have got Dylan down for the last two sleeps in his bassinette - hopefully it will stay that way from now. The bouncer is so not a great place for him to sleep as I think his little chin is down on his neck and he makes all sorts of snuffling noises...Just gave him a bath and he decided to vomit afterwards...not as bad some of them but not good straight after a bath - lol!
I'm noticing that he's becoming more alert at the moment and starting to wiggle and kick around a lot more. It's so exciting watching bubbas grow and develop!
Off to bed - chat tomorrow!
-
Hi Ladies, I have finally moved over to the baby buddies!:D Lots of little boys in here!!
Our son Rhys Jacob was born on 26th April at 1.13am (same day as Hazel) and weighed 3085g. He has very long legs and big feet and if his grandparents have any say in it will be drafted by the Lions to play AFL before he is 10!
I'm coping fine so far but this is probably as my MIL is practically living here. She left last night so lets see what happens now..
BF is a challenge. Sore nipples and like some others it hurts to begin with. The nurse is due today so lets see if she has any suggestions.
-
Goodmorning all,
Deanne, welcome! I was so happy when I found this thread- it's nice to have others to compare experiences with.
It helps to have that extra pair of hands doesn't it? My DH has been home for the past few weeks but goes back to work on Friday. I'm a bit nervous! I have been on my own with her, but still, it will be 12+ hours of just her and me...without being able to call DH to come home, LOL! Oh well I have to get used to it!!
Well we had a great night again last night, thankfully Lily went back to sleep after her marathon sleep in the evening. I ended up having to wake her at 8pm for a feed because my boobs were so full, luckily she ate like a piggy! She was back in her usual 3-3 1/2 hour routine last night and slept until 7:30 this morning.
BF is still challenging for me and I really don't enjoy it at all, though I'm going to perservere(sp?) for at least 6 weeks to see if it gets easier.
We're going to try going to mums again today. We'll see how we go. Last time Lily was really unsettled by the end of it and we had to come home. I was stressed out too with my neice (3) and nephew (6) attacking Lily every time she moved!
Kristie, We're lucky in that Lily seems to like her cradle and sleeps in it most of the time. THe only time she doesn't is during the day really and only if she's really unsettled, like yesterday.
My angel is starting to stir, so I must go.
Have a lovely day everyone.
Kellie.
-
Hi!
Dee - Congrats on your little boy!! Glad your doing so well!
Kel - Yeah on a great night! I promise bf gets easier!!! I definitely had times when I wanted to give up but I'm so glad I persevered! I fed Louis until he was 12 1/2 months old and by then it was so easy! In saying that though - do whatevers right for you! It's more important to keep your sanity!
Hope you go well at your Mums! My niece and nephew are a bit that way as well - can make it a bit hard sometims!
We had a pretty good night last night - have managed to get Dylan down all night in his bassinette so we seem to be on the right track there...He even went the longest between feeds - 4h 15min which meant I got a good 3 hour solid sleep.
Had my first cry though last night as I was just soooo tired. Dh sent me out to sleep on the couch so I couldn't here Dylans little noises. It normally doesn't bother me but you know when your so overtired that anything is annoying! hehe.
Desperate to get the housework done today and I'm off for a shower - I've got chuck all over me...he's such a sicky baby...
-
Hi All. Just a quick one to see if my new ticker works! Got my Mum and Grandparents coming over very soon for a visit, so can't say much but will check in again later.
-
Darn, why didn't that work? Maybe need to cut and paste a different version?
-
Dee: welcome! Rhys was born on my birthday! :D
We had an awful night. Mason was so unsettled, and Dh was overtired and so cranky.
I lost it and bawled my eyes out for hours..I felt awful.
Luckily I slept from 11am to 1pm while Dh watched him.
-
Oh Danni - big hugs!! I can totally relate...It does tend to get harder the longer we go without sleep as well...These cheeky monkeys for staying up all night! So glad you got a nap in today...
When does dh go back to work??
Christy - Yep - try another version?? you can preview your signature as well to see if it's working...Good luck!
-

thanks for that cindy :)
Kristie: Dh is back at work next monday...im so worried
-
Danni, my DH is back at work on Sunday night (= daytime Monday) too. My mum has offered to come and stay for a few days though because Dad's going away for a blokes weekend, so that might save me for another week.
Don't have much time to post (surprise, surprise!) so I'll be quick. I am reading how everybody is going though, it's good to share these experiences.
Does everybody have their bub's in their own rooms right now? When is a good time to move them into their own room? Should we wait til Ben outgrows his bassinette or move him sooner?
-
Hi!
Cindy - So glad everythings going so well! Can't wait to catch up next week...
Danni - My dh is back at work on Monday as well - it will probably be quiet in here as we'll all be so busy dealing with everything on our own! lol!
Disgirl - That will be great having your mum stay with you to help out! We have Dylan in our room but thats because we only have a 2 br unit! lol! With Louis he was in a cot in his own room from the first night at home! Other people might have suggestions but I say go with whatever you feel!
Dylan's been really good all day today so I'm a bit nervous about tonight! hehe. Hopefully we'll have a good one. His feeds have really spaced out which is great and he's going at least 3 - 3 1/2 hours each time. Sometimes he's waking an hour into his sleep but it just tends to be a burp and he goes back to sleep!
I hope you're all planning your mothers day's!! How exciting for a lot of you it will be your first!! We're not doing anything too exciting but having the family around over lunch for my Mum. I'm getting some pj's and slippers from my boys!! A sleep in would be nice but we'll have to see - lol!
Sweet dreams everyone!
-
Mason is sound asleep and I am about to join him! Praying for a decent night sleep tonight.
Mason is sleeping in his cocoon in our room. We have a single bed right next to DH;s side and he is on that.
He was supposed to be in his own room but I couldnt bare not to be right next to him. BUT we couldnt move the cot into our room as it wouldnt fit through the door!
So for now, the nurse said its fine if he sleeps in the cocoon.
Plus its too hard for to me to get up so many times throughout the night.
So I would say move bubs when you're ready. No rush :)
-
On the sleeping - With tori we had her in her own room from the first night but this time with charlotte we have her in with us in the cradle and then she will hopefully move in with tori in about 6 months. I really would like to keep a spare room available.
I am finding it much easier this time having charlotte with us coz she is just there when i have to get up to feed her.
I tend to have her sleeping in the rocker during the day, out with me whereever i am in the house and then in the cradle at night. I think this is actually working for us too as in she knows the difference between day and night sleeps. I am guessing that as she is more alert and able to be woken by noise i will have to use the cradle during the day too though.
Night all! My little princess has just gone to bed and now her mother must do the same
-
Hi!
Another rotten night...grrr! How many days can you survive on 5 hours of very broken sleep?? Lol!! How much sleep on average do you think you are all getting?? On a good night I'll get 7 hours ( if I go to bed super early) but otherwise it seems to be 5 or 6...I'm...sooo...tired....hehe.
Danni - LOL on the cot - we had that problem too - we were going to just wheel it in for a little while with Louis but it wouldn't fit through the door...too much effort to dismantle and put back together...hehe!
Cindy - As you know Dylans going to have to go in Louis' bedroom when the time comes...I'm really nervous about this with them waking each other up. I'm glad your doing it as well!! I guess we'll just have to see how it goes...I'm thinking I'll have to do it earlier than that though as the cot won't fit in our bedroom...better not get too ahead of myself! lol! Good luck at Barney today!! Hope the girls behave!
Hope you all got some sleep last night!
-
haha yes too much effort! Actually we tried...but we cant find the right screwdriver! lol
Its just easier as he is now
Sorry you had a rough night Kris
We actually had a great one! In fact we are off to visit Dales grandmother 3.5 hours away cos we finally dont feel too tired to drive lol!
Catch up with yas in a few days xxx
-
Have a good time away Danni!
-
Hey Kristie, sorry you had a bad night sleep. I know what you mean about broken sleep, Olivia wakes up every 3 hours, sometimes less. I cant wait til she sleeps right through!!! I miss my uninterrupted sleep. I now just sleep when she sleeps, if i need to. But I only have one baby, it must be harder with two.
I had another crying episode yesterday. Olivia and I went to Chadstone and when we left, it was peak hour and she started screaming... she was hungry and we were stuck in traffick. We only live 15 minutes away, but took us twice as long and she was crying and i was crying. I hate long trips, but in saying that, she was a gem when we went to bendigo last weekend.
Anyway, take care..... baby is awake:)
love melissa
-
Suffering with lack of sleep here too. (hugs all round)
To top things off, DS1 is sick and we're off to the doctor to find out what it is. He's feverish now for 24 hours and not looking good... sigh
-
Big hugs to us all! It really is soo hard! I had tears today as well...a big cry definitely was needed. I think what Dylans doing is having his bigger sleeps from 12midday to midnight and then unsettled for the next 12 hours - grrr!
Melissa - there really is nothing more stressful than a screaming baby in the car. I go crazy when that happens!
Caro - it must be so hard when dh is home so late! I must say I'm lucky at least when dh goes to work next week he's usually home by 4pm so at least I'll get a chance to get things done then...
Deb - So sorry to hear your little boys sick...omg I don't know how I'd cope then!! Hope all is ok!
Well, looks like we're all having a few tears...as much as I don't wish it on anyone I kind of feel glad I'm not the only one losing it at time - lol! I suppose we just have to be patient for these first few months with bubbas feeding so often and being so unsettled at times...
Off for dinner! Chat later!
-
Good morning ladies
It is so nice to read your experiences and know that I am not the only one!
We have Rhys in our room in a pram (we don't have a bassinette) but I would love for him to use his big cot. I think that at this stage I still want him next too me.
I am lucky in the fact that when Rhys is unsettled it is during the day. He sleeps fine in the morning and then seems to have a bad patch from 11am to about 7pm where it seems like he is 45 on the boob, then 45 mins off the boob. Is this normal? I stop feeding him when he falls asleep and can't be woken again.
Deb, I hope that the doctor helped with your DS1
Melissa you are adventourous! I haven't taken Rhys out yet into the big world except to go back to the hospital for a blood test. Today we go to the doctors which will be interesting..
Danni, our little man has a special birthday that he shares with you! Maybe you can tell me what sort of personality he will have then :D
Kristie, I hope that you having 2 little ones is not too much of a strain. I barely cope with 1!
Iona, how are things with you and Luke? Well I hope
Have a good one ladies
-
Hi belly buddies :) long time no speak sowie, my baby girl was born on 12 april, 8.3pounds and 51cm born via vacuum. So far sooo good wif sleeping and feeding (at nite). But i just wanted to ask u ladies in terms of feeding.... she wakes up every 2hrs for a feed at night but during the day she is a little harder to settle down, sometimes i feed her every 1hr so by da end of the day, my breast r soooooooooo empty :( is der another way to settle her during da day? (She doesnt like being put down after she's gone to sleep, and when i do, she sleeps for 10mins and den starts crying again...den da whole trying to settle her down starts again :( )
-
Hi!
I got a good nights sleep last night but poor dh didn't! He took over the job of settling bub so I could get some sleep. He did go 4 hours one time though which was great! He's now decided to feed only one side a time...
Had our mchn check up today for 2 weeks! The big buddha has put on another 380g so now weighs 3.86kg!! Everything is all good though and she's not concerned about his vomitting as she thinks he's just still getting used to all the food he's eating!! It was nice as dh stayed with Louis and I took Dylan in the pram and walked to the mchn! Was beautiful to get some fresh air.
We just picked up our toddler seat and the valco cocoon thing which will be handy! (Couldn't help buying a couple of little toys for Dylan as well!)
Dee - I think sometimes they like the comfort feeding! I'm strying to stretch Dylan out to 3 hourly feeds which he mostly does on his own anyway because I find he feeds sooo much better. Anything more than that he seems way to windy and unsettled. BUT each baby is sooo different so it's best to just go with what you feel your bubba needs.
We'll see how I cope next week! LOL! It's more just a matter of being tired than not managing the kids iykwim? Although I'm sure things like showers/housework will be put on the backburner for a while - lol!
Karen - Hi! Glad your going wlel! Have you tried a dummy?? We're just introducing it now and it's working well for when I want to stretch him out to a 3 hourly feed! Just a thought...
Chat later!
