TK - thanks for doing the list. Immi was born on 5 August. Wow, you are doing a great job expressing. I can imagine it would be really exhausting having to express and all the hospital visits. Any idea on when she will be out of NICU and going home?
Chow - he was obviously meant to be a Peter.
Misty - I wouldn't have thought of Baz as a nickname for Sebastian. How cool! Yay for milk coming in.
Cass - you had swine flu??? Wow! Hope you are on the mend now.
AFM - things are plodding along. Mum went home yesterday so now it is just our little family alone. DS is at daycare so we are having a cruisy day so far. Going to go out soon to do some shopping and have some lunch. I'm finding it easier to go out with DD as a newborn rather than an active toddler!

Hey all, hoping to join in here when I can but life is busy with 3 (and 2 under two!!) so I'll do my best to keep up.
Our second son Dean Ryan was born on 3 August and weighed in at 10lb 4oz much to our amazement :o Labour was horrendous, well not so much the labour but the delivery - DS turned and was posterior and then his shoulders got stuck as he was coming out. My ob did an amazing job to deliver him without forceps, vaccum or stitches for mummy :)
He spent the first 4 days in special care as we were having trouble stabilising his blood sugar levels, a common problem with big babies apparently. I fought them for 2 days but in the end had to do 24 hours of formula comp feeds which was devastating for me (nothing at all against mums who formula feed but I am passionate about bfeeding and Dean is the first of my children to ever have formula). I expressed my brains out to bring my milk in quickly so managed to do a lot of the comps with EBM instead which was very tiring but totally worth it to limit the formula he had to have.
We've been home over a week now and despite a minor set back where DS had a nose bleed in the middle of the night which required another trip to the paed and vials and vials of blood to be taken :( we got the all clear last Thursday. He is a pretty settled baby so far which is nice.
Our 20 mo is proving to be a huge handful at the moment though...
Saffi - L is being a total terror, so a bit of naughty behaviour from your L sounds nice! LOL (Saffi and I are baby buddies for our little boys too which is pretty cool ;))
Best be off, today is my first day home alone and I managed the pre school run OK but want to try and get dinner sorted too before DH gets home, bub has been asleep since lunch time though so will probably wake for a feed soon!
-
TK - I can't imagine how it feels having to leave your baby in hospital. I'm so glad she is well, you're doing a great job just being there for her.
Cass - lol yes how do we get them to sleep in their own beds? Peter hates his basinette b/w the hours of midnight & 5am. I hate having him in bed but it's the only way anyone is getting any sleep
Misty - hearing you on the minimal sleep, could count on one hand the hours sleep I had in the first few days. Yay for your milk coming in!!
Saffi - hope you had a nice time out shopping with bubs!! Been out a couple of times with Peter - can't believe how long it takes to get out the door. Then of course he poos again lol!!
Willow - sounds like your labour was about as good as mine!! Well done with all the expressing for Dean's feeds.
Have not had one day without visitors yet which is getting tiring but I'm loving showing Peter off. Peter has put on 200 grams since Friday so I'm pretty happy about that today. MCHN coming Wednesday & for some reason I'm abit nervous!!
-
Willow - you did an amazing job to push Dean out with no assistance. Did you have an epi? L was posterior and only 3000gr and he was vacuumed out so I can only imagine how hard it was to get D out. Good to hear that he is alright now.
Cheezel- seemed to spend most of the afternoon in the parent's room. Thank goodness they have tvs in them. Nice to get out tho. WTG Peter on the weight gain. I have to weigh Immi in the next few days too.

Well, I was intending on spending the day downtown with DH and the kids. HHHmmmm... I wasn't counting on my little DD turning into a screaming banshee. We got downtown, DD started winging and screaming and crying and generally acting up. That in turn set off DS#1, who decided to add hitting and hair pulling into the mix - so we turned the car around and drove the 20 mins home again, with Baz being the only child not screaming (somehow he managed to sleep through it). DS#1 had a sleep and woke up happier, DD continued her tantruming from her bed for 1.5 hrs and has only just fallen asleep exhausted. And I am dissapointed that I am once again stuck at home and there isn't even anything to watch on TV. I'll take a newborn over a toddler any day.
Oh and Baz managed to dirty his nappy in such a big way - it leaked all up his back and his front. :) But that is all right because daddy had to clean him up and bath him, not mum. :)
-
Saffi - Yea hun I grew a tail :) The tamiflu helped. . . and much better now.
Willow - congrats on Dean! WOW!!! Nice size hehe... Glad to hear he is home and well now...
Cheezel - same here, no one would get sleep if Eloise was in her Bassinet. I'm slowly keeping putting her back in there, eventually it will havce to work longer then half and hour lol!
Misty - Hope you get a day out soon! Eloise has had the leaking nappy 5 times in the last 3days!!1 All involving a complete clothes change, Aghhh!!
We went to the midwifes yesterday! Eloise has put on 300grams in a week :) yay! And is a picture of health :) She is still feeding every 1-2hours during the day, but will go 3-4hours at night time so that is all right.
I best be off, it's almost time to pick up the other kids from school and Eloise is starting to stir so beeter feed her before we go...
-
Hi,
Saffi - how did Immi go with her weigh? Good on you for getting out & about. We've managed a couple of trips to the shops but they've both been fairly quick - no feeding or changing!!
Misty - sorry to hear your day out with DH & the kids didn't work out.
Cass - yay to Eloise for her weight gain, well done!!
Peter was weighed by the MCHN & has put on weight but I can't find where she wrote it!! He actually slept for 5 hours last night - hopefully he repeats that for us tonight. I was so shocked when he finally woke me up for a feed. Had him in the big bath with me last night. Was so much fun!!
-
Well I havent posted in here for a few days and I now have a spare moment too!
Daniel has been good, a bit constipated lately because we changed formulas. He just has his good and bad days. Have to try and get him into the doctors this week as the hospital didnt do his check up thing.
He also had his first trip to the beach today, although he was in his pram it still counts :p
Well thats all for me for now, dinner is ready :)

Hello everyone,
Been busy... as I imagine everyone else has been too.
DS2 has been doing sooo many poos! Sorry if TMI, but it has really surprised me. We have to change about 4/5 pooy nappies each day. Both my other two, only pooed once a week as little babies.
We are booked in for DS2 to be circumcised on tuesday, which I am a little nervous about - even though we had DS1 done, and I know it will be alright.
I am sad that baz seems to be growing so quickly. He was never as small as most newborns (being 4.32kg born) but he is getting bigger every day, he's 000 outfits are now starting to get quite tight on him. I guess I am just worried that he is gowing to grow so quickly and I will blink and miss it. Having two other kids, I realise how time just flies by. And although, I always intended on having four kids, with the challenges of this pg, I am no longer sure if I could go through that again - so this is potientially my last baby. And I don't want to miss a single moment of it.
Hope everyone else is doing well.

Morning all
Cheezel - Immi put on 150gr in the last week  She is now 3580 so not back to her birth weight yet, but getting there.
We went to the park yesterday and eventually had a good time. DS was going crazy at home and needed to get rid of some energy. Immi was having hysterics when we got there so I had to go off and feed her, but it was nice just to get out of the house.
Misty - I know what you mean about them growing so fast. I think its only when you have other kids do you realise how quickly the time does goes. Immi will be our last so I have to keep remembering to cherish her newborns moments as they will soon be over.
Immi seems to do more poos than wees too. I forgot what newborn poo was like - not the stuff DS produces
Rhia - yay for going to the beach. It is going to be so hot up here that going to the beach sounds like a good idea.
Things are going ok here. DS is off to daycare today so its just DH, Immi and I at home. Will be nice to have some quiet time.

Hi everyone,
Can I join in here too? :)
Emma Jade was born 11th Aug at 12.31am after a very fast 1 hour labour - bit of a surprise that was! I barely made it to hospy, DH thought I was going to deliver in the front seat of the car LOL And unfortunately he had to leave me at the hospy to drop DD1 at the ILs and didn't make it back in time for Emma's birth :( Bit sad about that but what can you do?
Anyway Emma is going well, apart from some massive vomits and feeding most of the night. Life just feels so hectic with the 2 girls now, but it is worth it after all the problems we had getting to this stage - we just feel so lucky to finally have Emma here safely :)
Look forward to talking to everyone, hope you are all doing well. Nice to "see" some familiar faces too!
-
hello megsmum - sorry to hear that your DH missed the birth.
was going to write more... but having a mental blank....
-
Megs - that was a fear of mine that labour would be so quick I'd give birth in the car! Fortunately didn't happen! Sorry to hear that your DH missed the birth. How come these labours always happen in the middle of the night?
Its so hot up here today! 35degrees and it is still technically winter. DS was a summer baby so luckily I have some 0000 summer weight bodysuits to dress her in as everything of hers is for winter weather.
-
Cass - Thank you for your kind words! Hope Eloise's wind pain has subsided. I will go read your birth story after this post... I am still trying to finish mine so kudos to you on completing it so quickly!
Misty - love the nickname Baz! Hope your milk has settled in now.
Saffi - have fixed up the list for you.
Willow - yay for no stitches, vaccum or forceps... congrats mum - that is a stellar effort! You sound like me... I was an expressing machine to bring the milk in to try and limit the amount of formula Caitlin had to have.... I think once my milk was in she only had one more feed of formula.
Cheezel - it was so hard to leave her at hospital but I knew that each time I went away we were one step closer to coming home. There were many tears each time I had to go.
The nurses were amazed when I kept coming in for her feeds... even the midnight ones... the only ones I couldn't make was 4am... I just do not function at that time in the morning... well not enough to drive!! Hope the visitors have dwindled for you. I agree it is great to show bubs off but the visitor toll can be taxing
Megsmum - have added you to the list. Sorry that DH did not make the birth... but as you say - what can you do.
Sorry not more personals... we have had a very hectic few weeks... Caitlin is now completely discharged from hospital after 15 days... 13 days in Special Care Nursery and 2 days of gate leave at home! We are not back at birth weight yet but she put on 70grams whilst on gate leave which means we could finally be discharged as she had put on weight. Her lowest weight since birth was 2165 (birth weight 2405) and we are currently at 2360. I have made contact with the Early Childhood Nurses (ECHN) and they will be coming out soon for a home visit - will probably ring today to make time. We have a paed's appointment on the 7th September and our 6 week check up with my Obs on the 18th September and also around that time we have an US on Caitlin's right hip as it was clicky when they examined her for discharge.
Now that we are home I will be able to better keep up with everyone's posts!

hey everyone
things are hectic im having trouble getting on!! u may have seen my other thread im having trouble with the breast vs formula thing.. ive been ff for a bit over a week now due to no weight gains and not enough wet and dirty nappies but i feel upset that we arent breastfeeding... ive tried putting him back to the breast along with his formula but ended up with 2cracked nipples and im feeling quite depressed about the whole thing... anyway hope everyones going well hopefully i can catch up on personals soon...
-
tk - yay for Caitlin coming home
noni - I read your BF/FF post and just wanted to give you a hug. Having a few issues myself so I sort of understand what you are going through. In the end you need to do what you feel is right for you and William.
I keep telling myself that its not the end of the world if Immi has to go on formula completely, but I want to give BF as good a chance as possible before I totally give up.
I can't believe I have forgotten so many tips/tricks/techniques from when DS was a newborn. I used to be a tired signs nazi - ie as soon as DS showed them I'd put him down for a sleep. Both DH and I had totally forgotten about them until I was reading BB last night. Saw her do them this morning and wrapped her and rocked her straight away and she was asleep in 5 minutes. So proud of myself. Been asleep for over an hour now and I have been able to get stuff done.
-
Saffi - Both of my labours have started in the middle of the night! I must admit I was fully expecting it this time too LOL but you are right, I wonder why they do start then. Maybe because you are asleep and all relaxed?
tk - Thanks for putting me on the list :) Congratulations on Caitlin being discharged from the SCN! Sounds like she is doing so well, both mine have been SCN babies too because I have diabetes but I've been lucky that I have never had to leave them and go home like you have had to - that must be so hard :( GL with the clicky hip too, we have an u/s in 4 weeks time to have Emma's checked too - DD1 was in a harness for 12 weeks because she had clicky hips, but E was all good when she was examined so fingers crossed for no harness this time.
Noni - I'm sorry to hear the BF is not going well :( Are you able to see an LC at all? I had cracks and scabs (sorry TMI) on both my nipples in hospy and saw the LC there who gave me heaps of tips on positioning E and now they are all healed and she is feeding well. I hope you can get it sorted
Hi misty, Rhia, CheezelMonster, Willow and Cass, hope you are all well.
Not much happening here today, its DD1's preschool day so E and I are at home by ourselves. As much as I miss DD1 its nice to have a little break from the whirlwind LOL Emma is having a little nap now though, so I think I might join her for a bit! I'm feeling a bit average after 5 overnight feeds last night.
-
the problem with seeing an lc is the cost.. am having trouble finding one that will help me without a big upfront fee.. i know in the end id be saving money from not buying formula but its the money up front im not sure if i have... have been reading my book breastfeeding naturally that came from the aba and am in contact with them through email councelling.. i have emailed an lc but am waiting to hear back.. i know it wold be quicker to call but im not that confident over the phone...
