Hi All,
Well, it all came to a head on Saturday night. Ben was awake half the night..took him to the Dr's and she couldn't see his ear drums for the wax. She gave us a referral for an ENT guy in Williamstown. I rang on Monday and they first said Ben wouldn't be seen until next year, I pushed a little harder and they put him in 18th December. I rang again the next day (today) to see if they had any cancellations for an earlier date and they said if I could be there by midday today he would be seen..I was at work at the time so I raced home picked Ben up from creche and took him straight there. After the ENT moved the wax out he explained he has glue ear in both ears. Ben is booked in for grommets on Thursday
I will soon have my happy not so little man back! The ENT guy mentioned that Ben was a Bonne Babe:lol:. He has been really good considering so I really can't complain.
Dawn, I really hope you can get Mason in soon , I was thinking of you today and how lucky we are to get this over so quickly, how amazing these forums can form friends we have never actually met.
And poor Oscar, we had a double wammy as he was awake too on Saturday night. He seemed to be in pain and holding his penis. So he too was seen by the Dr's and he has a UTI, so it was a pretty rough weekend all round.
Thankfully I had some time out on Sunday and went to the Flemington Craft market with my sister and nieces.
Welcome to all the new forums members.
Take Care

All done  Ben has the grommits in and they are working a treat. It's such a quick procedure, the anaesthetist guy was amazing and had Ben enthralled before putting him under. It was all done at the Mercy Private at there Paediatric wing in East Melbourne. Lots of kids in there getting multiple things done such as grommits, tonsils and adnoids (some coming back for 2nd or 3rd time for the grommits). He had a fever for most of the day after the procedure but after a good nights sleep all was well and we went to our usual Mum's group the next day Friday.
Oscar seems to have made a full recovery too. So finally it's just now the Christmas mayhem with Oscar wanting Thomas and Thomas and oh did I mention Thomas :wall:.
Hope everyone has a safe and happy Christmas.

hey there, my little man Rhylie was born 20th august.
Miss Heather, just a question, do they say how long they could have gromits in for, and can they still not have water on their head or go under water? Rhylie will eventually be getting gromit, after failing his 4th hearing test, he goes back for another one in feb.

Hi Leish, the gromits usually fall out on there own, this can be anytime. He has an appointment for 6 months time for a recheck. Hopefully they wont fall out anytime soon as when I was in the hospital getting the gromits in, there were kids in there getting them for 2nd and 3rd times. He also said he shouldn't get ear infections with the gromits, I think they fall out anywhere between the ages of 2-3 and if they haven't I think they have to take them out. The Dr said he can swim and go under water as long as it is clean water, so a pool is apparently ok due to the chlorine supposedly keeping it clean.
Merry Christmas everyone
Heather :D

oh ok, i thought they couldnt go under water at all, but hey this was years ago, so its probably all changed now, thanks

Happy New Year :)
It's been very quite here..you all must be v busy or on Holidays.
Well the grommets are not fool proof!!! Ben got an ear infection even with the grommets , at least the fluid wont build up.
He is finally off and walking. He still has the arms out and legs apart but hey, he is actually walking more so that crawling
Hope everyone is happy and healthy

Oh my goodness :o where has everyone gone? :(
Thought i'd come in and catch up on what everyone's doing but i see we've all disappeared :(
Well Mason is doing well, he had his grommets put in a few weeks ago but hasn't slept through since lol not sure if it's something to do with his ears or the weather as it's been so hot here in Melb grrrrrrr
Had his 18mo checkup he's 14.5kg and 84cm tall doing all that he should be doing and has the biggest personality out lol.
Would be great to hear from everyone and how the Aug '06 toddlers are doing :)

Hi Everyone,
It has been quiet here...I assumed it was just due to Christmas and everyone on some sort of leave or organising older kids going to school!
Well...Ben is doing ok..he had his 18mth check and is 12.5kg and 80cm tall...very big considering I am only 152cm tall and 46kg. I have had to start pilates by a physio as he is so heavy for me to carry around I get sore neck and shoulders
He also has lots of teeth..they just seem to appear all of a sudden and before you know it he has a mouthful of them.
He has been great since the grommets although as I said in a previous response he did get an ear infection at Christmas after the grommets were put in
He has not been well of late..he had his 18mth chicken pox immunisation and the Dr said a chickenpox like reaction can come up to 21days after...he has it now!
He has ulcers in his mouth..he was dribbling like mad, I had to change his top 2-3 times a day as he wont wear a bib unless it's eating time. He also stopped eating which is very unlike him. I have never been a big believer in dribbling and teething so when I took him to the Dr he saw the ulcers under his tongue and on the inside of his cheeks, he also had a couple of spots around his bottom and some on his legs..all viral so no antibiotics just nurofen and bonjella for the ulcers. The bonjella initially stings so Ben has been biting my fingers when I try to put it around his mouth..ouch!!
Well, we are away to Apollo Bay for Easter..have a safe and Happy Easter.
Hope you all get lots of yummy chocolate!
bye for now

Hello, looks like I`m not the only one missing from here.
Sammi - Congratulations on your pregnancy.
Adrian is doing well, can`t believe in under 3 months he`ll be 2, how time flies!!! He`s talking really well, has even said a 3 word sentence recently, copies Matthew a lot which helps with his speech. He loves the outdoors just like his big brother. Adrian`s still not sleeping through the night but we do seem to be down to only getting up to him 3 times a night.
We`re all getting over colds here atm.
