Hi all. Hope everyone is well. Haven't read the posts for a bit now so just posting an update...
A belated HAPPY 2 MONTHS to Colby & Xavier.
Rhiannon, hope the circ procedure goes smoothly. And Ali, so good to hear that Emma is doing great.
Sara: horse...and geese. Man, I WANT your lifestyle!
Shell: Poor Holly. Hope she feels better soon.
Claire: Seems to be true abt babies often favoring one book to the other. Mine is the left one. DH calls it the 'high achiever'. I've been told to pump the other breast so it gets a workout.
Been super busy for last 2 wks due to the boss asking if I could go back to work and do 2 hrs a day! Work must have been desperate to drag me out of maternity leaver for this. I would have said no but Hubby works from home so we were able to manage and the extra $$ comes in handy since we are dead broke. Including travel time, I'm gone about 4 hrs a day and Hubby has had to supplement Willa with the odd formula bottle here n there. I have no probs with that as we did that while in hospital. Good thing we nicked the hospital's bottle because she won't take Avent or Nuk or Tommee Tippee or any other brand of bottle. I am to lazy to pump and scared of increasing my milk supply any more.
Had my 6 week postnatal checkup (technically its been 7 weeks now). Doc said all was well but DTD following that checkup did not go so well. I'd elaborate but it'd be TMI. Urgh! I just want everything to go back to normal. My hips displaced and my ab muscles separated when I was preggers due to the way I carried Willa, and this is STILL yet to go back to normal. Physio said 6 weeks but I ain't seeing an improvment :( Can't jog, squat, get up from the floor without a bit of assistance and I notice my walk has changed completely.
I was whinging last time about no smiles, well they've come with a vengeance! I know what u guys mean about your heart melting. Its just so lovely and oh, the dimples! Her Nonna and Pop are in full googoo-gaga mode trying to get more smiles and cooing out of her. So far she's been super chatty to DH only.
Had a bit day yesterday with DH's photographer friend taking some family portraits with Willa. I was a bit iffy because u know what they said abt working with animals and small children... And the whole session was during her late arvo nap time when she's Mr Crankypants. Surprisingly, it all went very well and we got some sweet photos with her great grandparents. Her great grandpa was recently diagnosed with prostate cancer and it was a big deal for him to be able to attend for the shots.
Gotta run, she just woke up from early arvo nap, damn!
hugs,

ahh, feeling a little better now, had a semi snooze (babe in arms) earlier. And I've had food to eat now so a little better.
Sorry Sehra, I too missed ela's 2 months. I'm such a scatter brain at the moment.
Sonia, my work asked me to go back early too. I said no, and told them besides they wouldn't want me back, i'm not quite with it mentally yet. I'm more of a scatterbrain now than when I was preggers.
Kim, I have a Hug a bub, I love it, but it gets very warm in it because it's black and puts him very close to me so we generate a lot of heat. I try to have xav in less layers when he's in it, but that's easy for me to do because it's soft material.
Well without wanting to jinx myself our day that started crappy (because I was tired) is getting better, he's even asleep, in his cot no less, right now. plus we had a lovley conversation earlier and lots of smiles. I think he has 3 dimples!! I have 2 so not too surprised but he seems to have one on each cheek and then a third in the frown line on the left of his mouth.
Xave found his fist last week to and really loves to suck on it. At first I thought he was just hungry, but now I think it's just his new toy. I can't wait until he ditches the fist for toys.

Hello all,
Not much to report from us...Cameron seems to be behaving well, sleeping well and feeding well. The night routine is working well too, it is making quite a difference:D I wonder how long it will all stay this way!!!
Our lovely white carpet in the nursery was trashed this weekend...more projectile pooing it is now white with orange splats!!! who's bright idea was it to get white carpet?? (oops that would be me!!)
kim I live on the Gold Coast and have a hug-a-bub and a snugli, but Cameron does not like being in them for too long because he gets really hot. Someone told me about Babyrock slings (developed by midwives in Cairns), they have a range made out of breatheable mesh and aparently are perfect for our climate. I have one on order...should turn up this week so I will let you know how we find it.
Hope everyone is well,
Claire:heartbeat:

a new August buddy
Hiya August Mummies!
I am newish to BB, with my DD Milla arriving on August 27th. I'd love to join the August 07 group... I feel like I should ask "can I be your friend too??!"
Milla is BF (few clicking issues, but she's doing ok), she sleeps for 4-5 hours at the start of the night, then 2-3hour blocks after that. She can be a bit of a cat-napper during the day, but I've got her settling herself in her cradle... Right now she is sweltering in Brisbane heat - she has the hormone pimples, and a bit of a heat rash, poor thing. She's just started smiling real smiles and they are simply gorgeous, but seem to be saved only for very special occasions - we've just had two today :D I am hanging out for more!
I look forward to being part of the group, and sharing the ups and downs!
Cheers,
Rhi (I'm a Rhiannon too)

Hello Rhi and Milla, welcome to the August Baby buddies group!!
I know what you mean about the heat...it is so blooming hot here today, I have had to have the air con going for most of the day. It is now threatening to storm here quite badly and along with the rumbles of thunder, I have a screaming baby (devil hour) and a barking dog (not helping with screaming baby situation :()
Oh no...here we go again....off to settle my boy...

Evening ladies,
Well again i have left it too late to post and i am becoming delirious. So i am going to give personals a miss tonight. I have read everyones posts so i know how you are all going.
We have had a big day of things today. Briley has turned into this little girl overnight and is doing heaps of stuff like climbing onto chairs, doing a #2 next to the potty!(she almost got there! :D) and just be a toddler. She is changing so much the last week or so. She is able to amuse herself so well while she is playing.
As for the other little miss. I took her for a shower as per usual and we were sitting there and i looked away for a sec and heard her make noise which i thought was a cry. When i looked down she had a massive smile on her face and was LAUGHING!!!! I could not believe it. Brent was just about to walk out of the bathroom when he heard it and came back. Then she just kept laughing and laughing! Its was so cute. I did my best not to cry but did get a bit wateryeyed! Its so amazing seeing someone so small laugh like that. It was totally unreal.
So yeah. Like i said we've had a big day for firsts! Anyhow...i'm off to bed. Hope you are all well.
Ni night!

Goodevening girls n welcome Rhi!
Sehra - expressing till it is just a drip is going to make more milk!!!! test how comfortable you are by lifting the arm on the side that is being expressed. if you r really full it wont b far but if u r comfortable it wil be here there n everywhere. hope that made sense! If u cant feel that, when u r full ur bbs will b firmer than when u r empty. keep feeling them while u r expressing n stop when the real firmness is a little less but not as soft as when u r empty iykwim. PM me if I have confused the life out of u!
Kim, I use a Tomy Freestyle Cool. It's way better than the one I had 4 Sarah! more supportive n more breatheable material. for the price you would think it would b c*** but i've seen it rated above Baby Bjorn in a parenting mag (cant remeber which one n the pile is to big to go thru). I paid $45 i think n the Baby Bjorn is $130rrp!
Rhi, I know it's cliche but really, don't wish away the newborn stage!!! It is SO much easier when they don't have a will of their own!
Sara, WOOHOO on the poo! will soon b starting Sarah's TT too!
Emma is going to the Dietician on Thurs n The paed on fri. hopefully she can go to normal formula coz she is having a tin and a half per week! she is gaining nicely now tho so chances are it will b good news.
Any one else been naughty n eating Magnums? I have been redeeming the free upgrade to gold class 4 DH's b'day. We mite b lucky enuf 2 have a whole day child free!
Anyway, I'm tired! Ni Night!

HI all,
White Carpet Oh no Claire, what were you thinking. Have you tried the preen for carpets I got red cruiser off the white part of a rug with that a few years ago.
Welcome Rhi, of course you can be our friend. ;)
Sara, oh what a wonderful day you have had. It will be much easier on you the better briley gets at amusing herself. Have you worked out what Colby was laughing at? we haven't had any huge chuckles but there have been times I've suspected laughter out of xav. But we are getting, or should i say I'm getting heaps more smiles lately.
alison, no magnums for me, the chocolate and the ice cream don't sit too well with xavier (says the person that had a lrg sunday with flake the other day ), plus we don't have a gold class here. But I tell you those adds really are pulling me in.
well today is getting much better. I'm completely over our arsenic hour, it seems that it is a required stage in getting to sleep at night. "Cause then he slept from about 7.45 till 5am so about 9 hours. I fed changed, fed and yes changed again, lil poo machine, and he was back in bed by about 5.30 and we then slept in till 9am!! another 3.5 hours. I then fed him and we had a good and tiring play and guess where he is now, yep in bed only 20 mins so far but I'm hopefull he will stay there till 12. I would be wrecked without my sleep in because I woke at 3.30 this morning and didn't get back to sleep until after 5.30, damn snoring husband.
but now i'm good

Thanks everyone! Its so nice to read about all your little babies :)
Well, Milla being able to settle herself in her cradle may have been a very short-lived achievement! She did it for a week, she'd just go off to sleep from being awake if I wrapped her, rocked her for a while, and left her with the radio on. Maybe she was just really tired for a few days. Today she has refused to sleep all afternoon, so she's been awake since 1pm (its after 7 now). She has worked herself up in to such a state that she gets frustrated at the boobs, fights them away (ouch) and then screams for a while until I walk with her outside. Its an arsenic afternoon and evening I guess :( She is driving her daddy crazy right now so I can have a break.
Rebecca - what is your secret for getting Xavier to sleep for so long?? I am soooooo in need of a good sleep. Anything more than 5 hours would be pure bliss! Are you BF'ing him?
Kim - you are very brave to have survived the injections... I am of course getting Milla innoculated, but I am already dreading it for her. She screamed and screamed and my heart bled for her when she had the heel ***** test and her HepB in hospital. I reckon Hayden will soon forget what the wipes mean, but maybe you could use something else for nappy changes for a day or two? We've been using sorbolene cream on a tissue for a while cause the wipes were giving Milla a bit of a rash. The sorbolene/tissue thing works really well and is not too inconvenient.
Better go eat some dinner...
have a good night everyone,
Rhi

Hello to RHI & little Milla (pretty name!)
becca- I hope ur cold is better. Looking after a baby is hard enough without feeling yucky eh? Keep berocca on hand. I find taking it if u feel like u might be getting sick usually means the cold is less awful. I'm a lemsip girl myself but I'm not sure if its safe to take while BF. I had one of those 48 hour colds 2 weeks back and I think I gave it to Willa and she seemed to cope better than I did with a stuffy nose. Its downright funny how babies insist on breathing through their noses even when they so obviously have another option.
claire- lol about the white carpet! I'd totally ruin white. We have beige and thats bad enough as is with 2 cats and me being such a messy eater when I was preggers.
sara - AWWW bout colby's laughing and yay that brent got to see it too. My MIL keeps telling (more like warning) me how quickly babies grow into toddlers and then into little people in their own right so gotta savour all those previous moments.
Had a mixed day today. Yesterday was much the same. Willa fought the breast, which she does occassionally and I just usually give her a bottle of formula if it gets too prolonged. But she refused the bottle as well and I got a little stressed that she wasn't eating as well as she usually does. I figure she can scream/cry poo spew and give me all kinds of grief as long as she eats well. Otherwise I get antsy. Night feeds are a-ok though which is weird but I remember some of u ladies saying its the same for you as well?
We had her 6-8 wk checkup by the MCHN which revealed that she is 5.5kg and 59 cm, which is like 90th percentile so I was pleasantly surprised. This would explain why my arms seem to get more and more sore holding her during BF. The kid just has this massive head :) I was a scrawny little baby myself.
Did some errands today with Willa at the local shops. She's fine so long as I keep the stroller moving, which isnt always possible when your trying to pay for something at the shop.
ok, DH just drew me a bath (bless him). Time to hop in! have a pleasant evening all!

Morning girls,
Neuri - Great to hear that Willa is growing nicely. It makes you feel like a good mum to hear that they are growing nicely does'nt it! Yeah farm life is pretty good. We also have a small orchard which we found out yesterday through some research that we will be getting quite a good profit and the end of the year when the fruit is ready! Looking forward to that. I can't believe your work asked you to come back already. They must have been busy hey. Even if i wanted to i would'nt be able to do that at the moment. Colby is just to reliant on me. At least it will give you some time to yourself everyday even if it is work. I aggree with your MIL (even though i know how hard it is to aggree with MIL's! ;)), savour those moments bigtime hun. With Briley, cause she was our first, we tried to make her grow up way to quick that you don't realise how quick they are growing up until all those little baby moments are gone. I am really loving having a newborn again so i can enjoy those precious little moments! I hope you enjoyed your bath! Wish i could have one!!!
Bec - I hope your fully recovered from your cold hun. We think that Colby was laughing from a combination of excitement and the water tickling her tummy. We had the video camera out lastnight trying to catch it but ofcourse cause we did have the camera out she was'nt playing the lead role!!! I hear you on the poo's! Colby did either 4 or 5 yesterday! I lost count.
Rhi - Welcome to August Baby Buddies hun! Glad to meet you and Milla. What were Milla's stats at birth??? We also have had some clicking issues from birth. Colby was said to be a little tongue tied when she was born. I was a little worried about it but the CHN said so long as she is putting on weight not too worry about it. Fair enough. RE: Getting babes to sleep long at night. I honestly don't think there is any real tricks to it. I think it all depends on the baby. Colby slept through for the first time at 9 days old. I did'nt do anything in particular she just did it herself. Now that she is in a routine she sleeps from 8.30pm to 7.30am most nights. I just shower her, feed her and the crashes on the boob. I guess i just have a good sleeper! Which i am very grateful for!! Is Milla in a routine yet??
Kim - Ohhh poor Hayden. Briley is'nt good with pain either. She makes me cry everytime i get her needles!!! Colby must have a higher pain tollerance i think. Babies forget pretty quickly so i'd so Hayden will get over the wipe drama soon. RE: Baby Born. Yep i have one. I don't really use it too much but when i have used it is been good. Very supportive. Only thing i did'nt like was that it put i bit of pressure on my upper back. Back that could be because i was'nt used to it and i slouch a lot. But other than that it was well worth the $150!
Rhiannon - Your most fertile days are roughly 3 days before and 3 days after the 14 days of your cycle. But that is if you have a 28 days cycle. It all depends on how long your cycle is. So if you had a 30 days cycle your fertile periods are those few days before and after day 15 of your cycle. IYKWIM. I'd say being so close after having a baby your cycle would'nt be back to normal just yet. It would be hard to tell what is a period and what is still lochia. Thats how it was for me anyways. I am still bleeding from the Mirena being put in!! And that was 2 1/2 weeks ago. When i went to get Colbys needles done they told me to age her from the date (ie the 3'rd) and not the day (ie Friday). This is because for further immunisations they don't like you to come before they acutally hit 4 months. So for me it would be after the 3'rd. And you it would be after the 18th. But every Dr is different too. Just ask when you go for the app. Hope the circ appointment went well hun.
Claire - Oh no on the carpet!!! I could'nt imagine having white carpet AND kids!!! Especilly living with my own Cyclone Briley!!! Glad to hear that Cameron is adjusting to his routine well. Routines are a blessing are'nt they! Have you got your new Babyrock sling yet??? Hope your both handling the heat well. Its been hot up here lately too. Going to be a terrible summer.
Alison - I hope the app at the pead goes well. How much is it costing for the formula???
Shell - Ohh poor Holly. I hope she recovers soon. Bunk beds totally scare me!! I think i will stick with single beds until they are at least in school!! But thats just me. A-mart up here have 30 months interest free this week so i might go and have a looky in there for a bed for Briley. OMG at $1300!! Thats a queen size bedroom package!! How rediculous.
I think thats everyone! Hi to anyone i missed.
Well i bit the bullet lastnight and gave Colby a dummy. She had been on my boob all afternoon and just would'nt be put down. I don't think she was hungry but just wanted to suck to go to sleep. Yet everytime she fell asleep and i took her off the boob she would wake up and start crying. So i tried her on the dummy (VERY VERY reluctantly) and she took to it and fell straight asleep. Once she was asleep i pulled it out very slowly so not to wake her. She did'nt sleep for long though. Only half an hour.
Speaking of which, now that she sleeps for so long during the nights she is awake for almost the whole day. For the past 2 days she has only slept about 40mins in total. For those who's bubs are sleeping as long....Do they still sleep for you during the day???
Well not much else to report now. I'd better go and wake Colby up. Its 7.50am and she is still sound asleep from 8.30pm lastnight!! She's def not going to sleep today now!! :wall:
Hope you are all well....

Hi all
Kim, I know this is not quite the same, but have you tried so good ice cream. I bought some because dairy doesn't go down well with Xavier and was pleasantly surprised. I got the vanilla, and it still had a little of that soy style taste, but not overpowering, and a little choc topping soon took my mind off that.
With the whipes try something different for a couple of days. those makeup removal pads and water do a great job. I have to use them sometimes because Xaves bum gets really red from huggies wipes.
Rhi, yep I breast feed. We have our standard arsenic time every evening. it starts around 5.30-6 every night and gets gradually worse. He cluster feeds like no tomorrow sometimes. I think I've finally figured out that he quite often isn't actually hungry, and does do what you described, I put a dummy in because all he really wants is the sucking. I think he associates it with pleasure (very fraudian I know). He then either falls asleep or calms down enough to have that finally little feed and drops off. Last night he slept from 8.30-5. He would have been in bed by 8ish but we were at sil's for tea for MIL's birthday.
He did start off by doing 5 hours, and I just was lucky to find his cue of it's now bed time every night. EG if he went to bed at 6pm, I didn't wake him for a 10pm feed hoping that he would sleep till 5 am, I just let his sleep and he gradually increased his sleeping length. I used to get up at 2.30, then it was 3.30 these days its usually 4.30-5. I'm hanging in there for 7am lol
Neuri, getting there slowly, I probably should be taking my elevit to give me a boost, but I'm lazy and keep forgetting. Just trying to keep up the water. I'm just glad that I don't have a blocked nose. Then I would be going mental. I had 3 colds in the last 2 months of pg, so that might be why this one isn't too severe. Maybe breastfeeding is keeping me a little healthier too.
Maybe willa just doesn't need as many feeds as she used to. Maybe if she's fussy try and distract her some other way for about half an hour and she might be better after that. So long as your getting plenty of dirty and wet nappies she should be fine, but if you are concerned cal your MCHN or your doc, she's obviously growing nicely she's about the same size as Xavier was at 8 weeks.
Sara, I don't think you can enjoy a newborn until it's your second iykwim. Because you don't know what you got until it's gone. I can't believe xavier will be 10 weeks old this week, and it is going very fast, i'm trying to savor the moments but I guess not knowing how long they will actually last for can be stressful the first time round. Which reminds me, we are starting to get a lot of dribble. I didn't think this would kick in until a bit closer to teeth arriving?? correct me if I'm wrong.
RE sleeping, sara welcome to my world hunny, you have been lucky to survive this long. max i get is about 1 hour after 9am.
