Hi!! Woo hoo to those who've reached the 6 mth mark!!

Sehra - Well done on the weight loss!! So far, I've lost 5kg. Can't remember when I started, but at the beginning of the year I told my mil that I wanted to lose 5kg before my bday and I did it!! I'm hoping to lose another 14 before mothers day.

Sara - Jensen has started reaching too far forward from sitting too. I suspect the crawling will start from there as he has the whole "I don't like being on my tummy" thing again. The ticker photo was taken NYE eve, while visiting a friend with a brand new baby (he was 6days old). Ah I miss it and I don't all at the same time!! Oh, what an experience for you. When is your next observation or birth?

Ali - How is your ankle going? Well done on the weight loss!! I'm so jealous!

Misty - Congrats on buying your unit! I understand about how you feel about leaving your dd for work.I wanted to go back p/t at 6mths. I originally went back 1 day a week at 3.5mths to help them out and it quickly became a 2day a week thing and there's now no way for me to get out of it. I'm so disappointed about it, as I don't want to be at work at all and want to watch my bub being a bub coz when I get home from my 7hrs at work it feels like he's more grown up than when I left him. :(

Kim - It was great to finally meet Hayden. Looks like he's going to be a very cheeky lil man! Once they're both crawling round (or maybe not too tired - i think 430pm might have been a bit much!!), they'll be more into talking to each other! Hope things are getting better with Hayden's teething, I think Jensen's are frustrating him again. How cute (and possibly v. messy) with the nappy. Jensen prefers to be naked and sometimes plays with his bits! lol got a bit on film... Wonder how thats going to go when he's older?!

Sonia - Wow at your DH's miraculous recovery! My hubby was eating mashed food for a week. One day, both he and Jensen were on the couch and he had a bowl and a spoon and Jensen watched the first few mouthfuls, thinking "ok, my turn next", but it never got there and he gave up watching lol. Wow ! Relactating. IF it keeps happening are you going to keep what you express and give her some, or mix it with food for her? I, too, lose heaps of hair in the shower and my hair brush is full or molted hair.


I noticed a lot of babies are eating heaps of food!! Well done! I'm too afraid to feed Jensen before 6mths and am copping heaps of flak about it. Especially from my mother. Jensen's had I think about 7 feeds of farex and thats it. Still only drinks between 120 and 150ml of ebm per feed when I'm at work. Must save himself up coz he feeds when I get home for ages!! :) He does get bits of what we're eating... easy things like biscuit/ cake or dh gave him jelly, but for now its a bit of farex and a rusk.

I had been to the dr the other day about the rash (which was bad) and discussed how I thought my milk was dying off. She said that she couldn't prescribe me any medication til I'd tried other options to increase it. Have you tried breastfeeding and electric pumping at the same time? Pfff. He just kicks it. Thinks its fun to watch coz it makes noise. Stupid dr shussed me out of her office too. Said she couldn't see him about his cough today. We were given a script for antibiotics for his rash. Turns out he had lil pimple/boil things like i get too. I didn't want to give him the antibiotics but considering they were on his head (in my logic, near his brain) I caved and it worked. He looks much better now.

My sister had a baby party thing (you buy baby stuff from home) and the consultant asked if we knew what baby brain was... Well I must still have mine coz i asked if it was a new product on the market!!

Oh, I slipped down the stairs on Sunday. Bounced on 3 steps and bruised a butt cheek. Apparently, the bruise looks like liver (or the colour of). Hurts to sit on that side! Dh came over and said "shouldn't hurt, you've got cushioning". wasn't funny when he said it, but I can laugh now.

I had other things to write, but I'm too tired and I can't remember!

well i am proud of myself, another 500g lost this week! i hope i can make it to my goal weight by march 13th ;)

Em is still not sitting up unsupported, still no teeth, still messing around with feeds, still refluxy, and still lactose intolerant :lol: hopefully she will settle down soon!

I have been very busy tonight with the footy club committee meeting. the president resigned so we has 2.5 hour meeting fixing things and reorganising things. the minutes were 5 pages! normally they are 2!

Hi Everyone
Can you believe our babies are six months this month?? I took Ella for her injections yesterday and she only cried for one of them, giving the panadol 1.5 hrs earlier really seemed to help her. She pulled herself along the floor yesterday and this morning she said a tentative 'mama'. So much happens around the 6-7 month mark. Just waiting for her to get some more strength in her back and she will be sitting up by herself.

Hey Rhiannon, don't worry too much about the food - go at your own pace. Sounds like he is getting finger food, which is a good thing. I'm not game to give finger food yet. Last night I made up pureed sweet potato, pumpkin and zucchini ready for the proper solids this week and I am going to give Ella farex for breakfast.

Sehra and Rhiannon - well done on the weight loss you guys are going great! 5kg is heaps to lose, keep up the good work.

Rebecca, Xavier sounds like he is going to be moving around real soon. That will be exciting!

Sara, what an amazing experience being there for a birth. I really think Doula's are a great idea. What's next with your training or are you ready to go?

Not much else to report. My girlfriend from 2005 mother's group is coming down from QLD and we are going out for dinner on Friday night - yay!!! Just me and her, we are leaving the bubs behind (we both have two kids born within a week of each other).

I have lost 10.6 kg! but i am not bfing so i can go hard on it. I have recntly started cycling and my bones r sore from the saddle. i have to get 1 of those gel covers for it. i also need a new front reflector and some lights. Skipping is also excellent for burning calories ;)

Em still has very little trunk strength and leans right forward when we try to get her to sit unsupported. I am so sick of reflux too! grr being thrown up on all the time does very little for yourself image. I need to find some dairy free rusks or at least a recipe for them.

Hey everyone! I've only been posting on BB for about a week and haven't introduced myself here yet! My gorgeous DD Alyssa was born on 27th August. It's so great to hear all of your stories, and congrats on all the mumma's who have lost weight!! :)

I had Ella weighed yesterday, her stats are: bare weight 7.3kg, length 66cm and hc 43cm. She is now on the 50th percentile line on the charts which is great considering she was on the bottom line when she was born at 37w 5d (w 2.640kg L 48cm and hc 35cm).

Ali - 10kg, that is fantastic! You must be feeling great. Sometimes I wish I wasn't bf because everytime I lose a bit it comes back on when I start eating more because I get hungry from exercising and if I don't eat I get really tired.

Rhianon - how is your milk supply going? Is it setting down? I can't express whilst feeding either so know what you mean. Can you offer more feeds to bring your milk up a bit? Sometimes I do that and it seems to make a difference. It certainly doesn't feel like there is much milk there now for me but Ella seems fine. With the antibiotics, it is a big deal for me for my babies to have it too, so be kind to yourself - sometimes it is what they need.

Liz - welcome! Do you want to give us a bit more info about yourself - are you bf or ff, Alyssa's stats?

Thank you for the welcome! I've been breastfeeding since birth and I'll probably keep it up until Alyssa wants to go to the sippy cup I think! With my DS I went back to work when he was 2 months so introduced formula then with him. I can't believe she's already 5 months old- time really flies when you have 2 kids!

Alyssa had her last check up on 16th Jan and she was 6.7kg then, 64.2 cm in length and head circ. was 43.2cm.

Alyssa has had colic for almost this whole 5 months but is settling SO much better now... I'm so relieved!!

A very happy 6 months and squishy hugs to Xavier, Colby and Ella. Now officially half a year old. Way to go Mummies!

Becca – Bfeeding adopted bubs sounds totally amazing. I saw this story on tv abt a south African woman who had her baby accidentally switched at birth with another woman’s bub. By some coincidence the two kids/parents met when the boys were like 2 yrs old or something and the woman claimed that her maternal instinct towards this stranger’s child was so strong that she started lactating when she went home that day. She did some digging at the hospital and discovered the switch. Amazing story. Re. relactation. Believe me I think about it often. I really don’t know…what with working I’d be very upset if I screwed it up yet again. We have a good thing going here, albeit with formula. Maybe I can be content with bfeeding her for those 14 weeks… Lol about Xavier looking like he’s scratching his balls. He’s starting early!

Kim- Good to know someone else is losing hair too. I mean u read abt it happening after pregnancy but when it does happen its just so weird. With Hayden cutting teeth now, do you really notice that the teething is why he’s more grizzly than usual? I’m on the lookout for signs but how do you tell normal crankiness from possible teething? And how clever of Hayden to dak himself! It must be a father – son thing hehe.

Sara -Wow at the birth! It takes a lot out of you I reckon to be a birth attendant, both physically and mentally, but what a rewarding and wonderful profession. I joked with DH that he was so good at Willa’s birth that he could work as a doula. Should have seen the look he gave me hahaha. GTK Colby is nearly over her virus. I reckon you’re right about the rash being the virus + fever on its way out.

Misty - Congrats on being a home owner! Now you get to have fun decorating. I love that bit  Re. going back to work, it is hard but it’s do-able. I’m working 3 days one week, 4 days the next week and I can bring Willa into work anytime I need to provided I don’t have super important meeting on. I don’t tend to bring her though unless its totally dead at work as I find I can’t do either role effectively during busy times. But yeah, it can be done. I find being super organized helps heaps. Like Scone said, you feel like your baby has done some growing up in the 7 hours + that you were at work, but you can make up for it. Plan well, come home and give her bath, cuddles, storytime and then put to bed. I’ve had some special me and Willa moments since I started working when I come home.

Scone - You’re doing what you think is best for your baby by delaying solids until 6mnths. No one knows Jensen better than you. I have coped flak for the exact opposite as I tried some Farex on Willa when she was 18 weeks old, but technically 4 o only calender months. We have no allergies or major intolerences in both sides of the family and she was showing what I assumed to be classic signs, so we gave it a go and I had to hold back a little because she was over enthusiastic, if anything. Ouch about the bruised butt, but lol to your man at trying to lighten the moment.

Ali- Good to hear the ankle is better and congrats on the massive weight loss! That really is great! Willa ain’t got no teeth either. No sign if teeth-to-come as well. We’re wondering if its gonna be scary when they do show. I hope Em does settle for you soon. I had no idea babies could be so lactose intolerant that you need dairy free rusls even. Takes a tough mummy to see through what you have. She’s come a long way, though. Don’t forget that.

Molly - Ella is clever to pull herself along the floor. Willa sits, rolls both ways and will do crab style movements on her tummy but the poor kid doesn’t seem to budge one inch forward. Frustrates her to no end.

Liz – Welcome! Congrats on bfeeding successfully until now. I went to 14 weeks with my Willa with the intent to keep it up when I went back to work but things didn’t go to plan. Now happily ff. Colic can be such a trial eh> I'm glad Alyssa is nearly over it.

We're all going well here. Willa's ringworm though seems to be spreading around her neck. The stuff on her face is pretty much gone. We're using two different creams. Bought a portacot over the weekend as we got tired of arranging pillows behind her everytime she decides to throw herself backwards when sitting. She's been playing happily in it now and when she does fall backwards, no dramas. Did a casual weight check at the pharmacy. Coming in at 8.2 kg now. No idea about height but her feet are hanging waaaay off the bouncer so I'm guessing a bit past 70cm. The chubs is all in her thighs. She's got two isosceles triangles for legs hehehe.

Liz - Welcome!! Time does fly when you have 2 kids does'n it!! I have 2 girls. Briley has just turned 20 months and Colby has just gone 6 months! Alyssa seems to be thriving. Glad to hear the colic has eased up. Briley had it when she was a baby and it was'nt nice. Good to hear the b/f is going well. I am happy to have made it this far with Colby.

Ali - Congrats on the weightloss. You seem to be doing so well. I was thinking about starting the Tony Ferguson programme. What are you doing???

Molly - Ella is doing well! Do they know why you went into pre-term labour?? Or did they induce you? We had Colby weighed at the Drs at the end of Jan and she was 7.8kgs. I can't remember what her HC was though. Not sure what is going on with Briley. I suspects its her 2'nd molars and canines though. I have to attend 2 births and complete my module before i am certified as a Doula. I have attended any of "my" own births as yet but have had quite a few enquiries from clients lately.

Rhianon - Ouchie!! I still a$$ up the other day when we were swimming! The first time i have fallen over like that in a LONG time! I laughed but it shocked me thats for sure! LOL @ your baby brain comment. I read in my local newspaper yesterday that studies have been does and baby brain is a reality. Don't i know it!!! I forget things all time. Hopefully my next birth will be my "own" clients. Did the Dr say what you could do to boost your milk supply??? I might be going back to work for a few weeks soon and i just cannot, for the life of me, express. I don't know if its the pump of what. I just can't get anything out. I was wondering if its my supply. Glad Jensen's rash has cleared. Colby has had one lately too.

Bec - Won't be too much longer and you won't be able to stop Xav. Every baby is different. Briley did'nt crawl until she was 9 months. He will in his own time. He might even be one of those babies that just starts walking rather than crawling than walking!! Imgaine that!!! ;)

Kim - Has Haydens tooth actually cut???? Colby is showing lots of teething signs just no teeth yet.

Sonia - Great to hear from you hun! Wow Willa is a big girls is'nt she!!! Sorry to hear she is still struggling with the ringworm though. Did the Dr say how long she was meant to have it??? Surely they could give you something else to use. Have you tried paw-paw ointment??? It can usually clear up anything!!d LOL @ your DH being a Doula. Not sure how many clients he would get!!!! LOL!

Not much to report here. Colby is getting closer and closer to crawling. She pushed her way over to a toy today. She's growing up to quick! :cry:

Off for our 6 month needles tomorrow. Will have her weighed and measured aswell.

Hi Girls and welcom Liz.

Have been MIA lately as i have had nothing to report. Ela is now 6 months 1 week old. I do agree that they do grow up TOO quickly. She had immunisations on Tuesday, was giving the nurse dirty looks before the needles and i suspect she knew something was not right. She cried down the whole place. I couldn't stop her for a while. But she is all better now.

Still 2 bottom teeth, but her hands are always in her mouth, so definitely more teeth on the way.Ela can't sit up unaided as yet either but is definitely on the move too. She rolls to get around and uses her arms and upper body to move left or right. She gets on all fours and rocks back and forth. She is so placid, it is wonderful. She will happily play on the mat when she has a clean nappy and full tummy for ages. She still never cries when she wakes up from a sleep. Love her to bits.

Devrim, is 5 as you all know. We took him out of his current school and put him in a better school where he will be in a 2/3 composite class and get a chance to do grade 3 work as well! He is such a clever cookie. We are so lucky that we have him.

Congrats on the weightloss Rhi and Ali. It's hard but it pays off. I haven't weighed myself this week as yet, so i am dying to find how much i weigh!
Sara- congrats on assisting a birth. I would definitely not be able to do it!

I am finally milk free! haven't expressed for a week or so now, so it must have dried up! geez, it was so tough.

neuri: Thank you.. I'm surprised I've lasted BF this long.. I was going to introduce formula much earlier so I could have a little time by myself, but she never like the teats on the bottle! So that idea went out the window! I think I'll just have to keep going hehe which is a good thing, anyway! I'm glad Alyssa's nearly over the colic, too :) although she can still be a handful, she's just being a normal baby now :p

Sara: Yeah colic takes a lot out of you, doesn't it? How did you cope? I'm surprised I didn't go crazy as Alyssa didn't settle very much at all! She still has trouble settling to sleep but is getting better. She almost always cries when she wakes up which is annoying :( How are you coping withthe 2 girls? your ages are even closer together than mine!

Sehra: When did your bub get her two bottom teeth? I've been waiting for ages for Alyssa's.. she's been drooling since 3 months and still nothing! my DS had his at 4 months so I thought she'd be early too, but nope!

I have to go as both my kids just woke up at the same time grr!! hehe.

sconesonamission & sehra - congrats on the weight loss!! i was so much slimmer after the birth - really, jokes side but now that i'm home on my bum most of the time n no more 20min daily walk [i'm too lazy to lug the stroller down 3 flights of stairs], i'm NOT surprise at the additional kilos. fingers crossed that once we move into the new place, DH can setup his little exercise machine. :)

arianna [easier since there is another ella in the house] will be 6 months next tuesday but will get jer vacc on monday, dunno how she will take it since she is more aware of things these days. this is something i posted in the solids thread but wanted some idea from the ladies here as well :

i started arianna on farex rice cereal the plain ones about 2 weeks ago n it went well for awhile. after abt 3 days [i was giving it to her twice a day : once in the morning n once at night], i gave her sweet potato and from what i've been hearing from other mums, bubs love this n would nose dive if they could into it but sadly not my arianna. perhaps it was my fault for making it too thick so the next time i made it more runny but still the same result. after struggling through a few days giving her a chance to get used to the taste, we moved on to pears which i got a slightly better reaction but still, she never really was happy. n finally, it was apples n still the same results. but the last few days, things have been going downhill and all she will take is 2 spoons n that's it.

she starts thrashing and screaming and just wont take anymore. so today, i went back to the basic rice cereal n i still got the same reaction. what happen to 'there's no turning back once they start solids'?? :( also, she just sprouted one tooth on the bottom so could it be that she is just irritated n not in the mood for solids? another thing is, she's only staying awake for like 1.5hrs n down most of the time - is that normal? sorry if part of the questions here dont really relate to solids but i just wanted to get more input. thanks!

i think i get the clingy and grizzly part since i read taht some bubs are having that with the teething but what abt the other bit?? anyways, happy chinese new year to all n have a good weekend - i hope i'll survive it!!

Misty - I know what you mean about the solids, I don't know what is going on with my Eleanor (I will revert to her full name so that you can use Ella which is only her nickname). I started plain farex at about 5 and a bit months and that was ok then I went to the pear and apple farex a couple of weeks later which she seems to really like because she opens her mouth for it.
When she hit six months I thought I better start vegies because she was eating so much farex (two tablespoons made up with warm water and almost all went down) and I felt bad that is all she was having. So I cooked all the vegies and I thought sweet potato because DS loved it, but she just blew raspberries and it came back all over me. I struggled through a couple of days, even mixed farex into it so it actually tasted like the pear and banana farex but looked like sweet potato, still didn't take it. I tried zuccini last night and got the same reaction.

I am so disappointed because I thought she would be a good eater since she took farex which babies don't normally like, so well. So now she is having a little bit of farex for breakfast and eats quite a bit at 5pm. I will have to buy another box.

Talking to my girlfriend from mother's group (the one I had dinner with last night) she reckons just keep going with farex because she seems to like it and try again later.
I am a bit worried because I really need Eleanor established on solids for when I go back to work (in 2 months), but I guess she just isn't ready.

Thanks to you and Kim for sharing what was happening with you, because now I feel a bit better about it all.

For anyone still BF - all of a sudden this last week I have more milk, yet Eleanor is feeding the same. Is anyone else having this?

happy 6 months ella, i knew there was another 3rd of august.

Scone, Xavier only has about that much ebm too during the day. I too think they save up for when mum is there, but I've also read that breast fed babies don't generally behave the same as ff babies when they have a bottle.

Molly, I think Xavier is just a big tease and makes me think he is going to move :lol: Probably stubborn like his mum and will do the opposite to what we think. My milk seems to go up and down like a yo yo, however expressing for me is probably impacting on that.

Ali, I've herd that cruskits can be handy to chew on as the pretty much disolve, do they have milk in them, might be an alternative??

Liz, welcome to you and your bubba. I've been around since conception. This is a great place and I feel truley blessed that I found it when I did, the amount of support and friendliness you find here is amazing.

Sara, according to MIl DH crawled once, across the room, stood up and promptly started walking, all at 9 months. Both of Nathans brother and sister walked at 9 months also. So you could be right.

RE solids, at the moment the stance I am taking is that I offer the meal regularly but don't fuss if he doesn't want it. FYI he hates zuchini, but fav vegie so far seems to be pumpkin 'cause it's sweet, and he is a big fan of fruit. I have been making my own food, but I keep an eye on what's available at the supermarket just in case, and in the fridge section near the yogurt there are these fresh pureed vegies, that are very similar price to the jars.

we haven't had our 6 month needles yet, because I'm working now, and there is only 1 night session each month here, so not this week but the next he wil get his needles. I am however taking an afternoon off next friday to see mchn so will have some stats. But he is roughly 8kg's and 68cm tall.

Yes they do! even most potato crisps have milk! it is so annoying! i am going to google allergy free baby food and see if there is some1 that sells the stuff we want or if i have to make it myself. it is so annoying! i dont really have time to make absolutley everything for em, coz i do have sarah to think of too. I think it would have been better if Sarah was the 1 with issues iykwim. when u have 2 u have half as much time and more to do! any1 wonder y we use sposies :lol:

has my sis's baby shower today. was good. they had a bbq with both males and females invited. Sarah got up to mischeif and put chocolate on their walls :o so i had to clean that, and due to poor fatherly supervision, she stacked it a few times and has scratches all over her now :{ not impressed!

Em threw up on almost everyone that got a cuddle, how unusual :p (sense the sarcasm) but overall she was happy.

Well em has her needles on monday, and starts swimming lessons next saturday, which is exciting. we will both have to be in the pool now coz Sarah is not old enough to be in on her own.

dont worry abt it mollygirl. :) i'm fine with using arianna myself since ella is also what we use for short but now i'm calling her by her first name. dont want the bub to have an ID crisis at such a young age!! lol well, i think i might actually give it a rest....will try again next week.

Sorry for venting earlier about the solids. I know it is not the end of the world. I will take Rebecca's approach - thanks for that.

Ali - yes it doesn't make sense does it? Once again we start thinking what did we do with all that time....like we did when we had our first baby, where did all our time go before that...maybe having a bath and having time to actually do our hair and put something decent on.
The baby shower sounded like fun. Is this their first baby?

Eleanor is moving across the floor now to get to Myles, almost a commando crawl. She does this funny thing where she gets up on all fours and then lifts an arm in the air like she doesn't know what to do with it. I am not giving her any vegies this week, will try again next week. She isn't sitting yet though.

Myles is playing with his toys as I type this - in the nude. Refuses to put his clothes on after having an accident at the toilet and spraying urine all over my newly washed floors!!

Liz, I only joined a couple of months ago, but it certainly keeps me sane whilst at home. Can pop on and read about the other babies and just feeling better knowing there are others out there going through the same stuff.

Ive just been reading about all your bubs and they sound just adorable :) Some of you know me from around the threads, my DD born 25 Aug. She has started solids and so far we have conquered Farex, potatoe, pumpkin and carrots. Tomorrow we are trying brocolli and then onto some banana and apples, so far she is a good eater, and seems to love potato and carrots best so far.

Rhianon - you had a q about increasing breast milk supply - have you tried Fenugreek capsules? I used them while I was expressing to keep my supply up as Alexandra wasnt feeding at all, and I had a great supply, you can get them from most health food shops, and some pharmacies have them. A few of my friends have tried them and they seemed to work for them too.

Hi Ladies,

Mistyeiz & Mollygirl, my little bub is Ela too. Not quite Ella as in the english way of spelling it though.

So many bubs on the move. Mistyeiz - Ela is doing the commando crawl too and she gets about the lounge room and has once gone upto the tv unit and began touching the drawers. It'll be very soon when they all open and get things out and start making a real mess of the house.

Ali, must be real hard having a lactose intolerant bub. I am lactose intolerant too, which developed after giving birth to Devrim. It is the worst. Can't even eat icecream, sometimes i give in and have some icecream and i end up in cramps and pain. Sometimes the littlest square of chocolate can send me into pain. Goodluck. Cooking food for each individual in the house must be hard, i can imagine.

FF bubs mums- have you considered changing the teat to 6months plus now, since our bubs are or approaching 6 months? I meet need to change Ela's as she gets frustrated during some feeds. How about dummies too? Do we change them too?

Mollygirl - boys will be boys, they splash everywhere. Devrim is 5 and he still splashes and it drives me crazy.

Bec & Sara- mum tells me that i never crawled and just began walking at nine months. So you can expect bubs to walk without crawling too! I think Ela will be an early walker too, she loves being on her feet all the time.

Liz185 (as we have another Liz too!)- Ela got her bottom teeth before Xmas, so at about 4-4.5 months. She had been drooling like Alyssa since 3 months. Just the other day, i noticed a top tooth had made its way out, so now Ela has 3 teeth. She is drooling really badly these last couple of days. Only last night, in 1 hour of putting on a new bib, it was completely soaked!

I have an immense teething problem (i think) at the moment. Ela is not sleeping well at night or during the day. She has a little bit of a runny nose (thanks to Devrim, who had it first) as well. I have started her on Panadol and Fess. She isn't eating well either. She locks her mouth and you can't get a damn thing in their. She gets frustrated with the milk too (better look at changing the teat first). She is grizzly and clingy, it is driving us all insane. We were so used to the placid Ela, but that's now history. She wakes 2-3 times a night, where i feed her for the 2 awakenings and getting her back to sleep is impossible. I sit their rocking her for like an hour. HELPPPP! Does teething affect sleep? Please tell me she will get back to her old routine soon. She is happy and playing when she wants to though.

Sara- Yep, Willa ain?t exactly puny. I heard a crick in my back the other day when I picked her up hehe. Re. the ringworm. I have doubts now that it is even that. So frustrating. It seems to be responding to a plain diet and some sorbolene which sounds like eczema to me. Anyway will get 2nd opinion when she goes in for her 6 month shots. Also, I found I was never any good at expressing even when I had no supply issues too. I thought it was my technique. I?m getting that paw paw ointment as I keep hearing good things about it. Its fantastic that you?re already hearing from potential clients. Just goes to show you that there?s a market for doula services out there.

Kim ? Hayden is just too adorable!! I love baby thighs, just wanna snurgle them all the time :) He?s got some good ?guns? developing there too hehe. I like the pic of him sleeping in the car with his hands holding the rings. I see, about the teething grizzles. I repeat, it sounds scary and am not looking forward to it lol. Re. change table time. A distracting toy works wonders. Willa doesn?t twist so much as grab at her bits which is a worry when she?s done a poo. I distract her with a rattle.

Sehra ? Way to go Devrim. Sounds like a very bright little man you have there. Did u do anything special with regards to reading or his numbers? Ela is yet another commando crawler. V. cool. And congrats on being milk free! Re. teats. I used a push pin to add more holes to Willa?s Pigeon teats because well they were exxy and hard to get so I wasn?t going to buy her new ones if it cld be avoided. Seemed to work well. Instead of one big flow, she has numerous small ones. Your teething experience sounds intense. We got no teeth here so I can?t report on anything.

Liz ? So glad you like BB as much as we do. I really do think its such a fantastic and supportive place. And really useful in a pinch too. I tend to read more than I post. I do get around, albeit quietly :)

Ali ? I do hope your quest for lactose free baby food recipes/items is fruitful. They must exist as Em wouldn?t be the first or last little one who is lactose intolerant surely. Lol about Em spewing on everyone. Gotta love babies!

Misty ? Arianna is just gorgeous. What colour are her eyes now? I love the ?Coy? photo, she really does look it! I have no idea how Willa will take her upcoming needles too. It's different now isn?t it that they know what?s going on? Shld be interesting. Re. solids, don?t think u need to worry to much about her going off her solids for a bit. I hear it happens. She?s still young and has plenty of time to get back into the swing of it. In the meantime milk is what she needs mostly. Early solids is just for practice anyways. I reckon Kim is right in that the teething is affecting sleeping as well. Grizzly babies deal with the grizzle differently. Sleeping may be Arianna?s way of getting through it. Clever girl, really!

Molly ? You?re on the right track re. solids. I?m sure she just really enjoys sticking to her farex for the moment. Willa also loves her farex and will have it easily if there?s nothing else to feed her. LOL about Myles and yeah I keep hearing how younger kids learn heaps faster because they?ve got older sibs to observe. Makes sense. Commando style crawling at your place too huh?

Becca ? I reckon Jensen might be one of those ?straight to walking? kids too. You do hear about them. And yeah, zuchinni doesn?t seem to be a popular food at all in my house either. Also, I subscribe to your solids feeding method lol. We have lots of leftover baby food due all the time from failed feeds. DH eats it usually :)

Lisa ? Hi there, nice to meet you and Alexandra and good to hear she?s taken to solids well. As you can see from us it can be a eventful time! :)

So Willa still has her face thing. If it?s ringworm, its super duper antifungal cream resistant ringworm on steroids. I took her back down to farex only and am using sorbolene on her face and for some reason its working. For now! So no idea what?s going on. Will ask her doctor when I see her next week for Willa?s shots. She?s started getting up on all 4s and rocking back and forth, but no coordination yet so crawling is a little ways off. And thank goodness I think. I?m starting to look at everyday items around the house as potential dangers. Plus, the day she starts to move is the day my poor cats will probably live on top of the fridge (one already does). She loves them.

I?m still working 7 days a fortnight and enjoying it so far. Via the internet, I do all my netbanking, paying of bills, food shopping and other chores at work so when I go home, I don?t even have to think of the computer.

Really enjoying everything about being a mum right now. It?s the best job in the world, isn?t it!

Hi girls!

We are on the move. Commando type crawling but crawling all the same. Colby started crawling last thursday then its just gotten quicker and quicker! She can get around no worries now.

Colby has been crying heaps lately. Its been driving me crazy cause Briley is crying at the same too time most of the time! Anyone else having this issue??

We are still on farex here. Tried to change her onto solids once she hit the 6 month mark but she did'nt want a bar of it. So we are still farex with a bit of solid mixed through it for taste.

Lisa - Thanks for the tip RE: fenugreek! I need some of that myself!

Well i cut myself yesterday and needed 4 stiches in my knee. Ouchie! Meant to be keeping the knee straight and upright but its kinda hard with 2 sooky little girls under 2! Also got the flu which i am not happy about!

Right, with Colby, that now makes 3 or 4 bubs commando crawling if I am not mistaken. Soon we'll have a whole commando unit on our hands!

I am online at home which is a rare event. After failing in my attempt to take a bath myself, I had to send a venty email to my building's strata company regarding the lack of hot water. It was as snide as an email can be snide. We got warm water, but no hot water. The difference is frankly astounding when you have a baby smeared with food and drool on her top half and poop on the bottom half. Not impressed at all. Its cold in SYdney at the moment but its not even winter yet. Yes, not impressed at all.

I was taking some left over salad out to the chooks in a glass salad bowl. As i walked through the gate the bowl smashed up against the gate and a piece of it stabbed me in the leg and sliced as it fell.

It did'nt hurt at all. It felt like a scratch and when i looked down i saw a massive gash. I could'nt believe it. I could see the fat in my leg and everything.

I was saying to myself, "Its ok, its ok!" Then i walked back into the house and called my help!

Sehra, the so-good icecream is actually quite nice if you haven't tried it. I have uped xavier to 6 month nipples on his ebm bottles.

Sehra, we are having very sleepless nights also, yet we don't have clasic teething symptoms. I think with xavier it is food related as there is no way no how he is going back to sleep without feeding. he screams the house down.
So tonight I increased his tea and packed it full of carbs.

sara, ooo on your little comando. Xavier is really trying to comando crawl yet ends up spinning in circles. He has almost started going backwards though so it won't be much longer. Still no rolling, i think we are skipping that step. When Xavier was born our niece was 18-19 months old and would cry when xavier would cry. She got over it pretty quickly.

thanks for all the ideas n feeback - sorry not personals today though. just a quick one....arianna got her shots day before yesterday n i think she took it well. didnt cry much for the first shot but screamed when she got the second one - must have known what was coming. was grizzly the whole day n took short naps but managed the long ones at night so mummy aint complaining. did give her some baby panadol to help ease the pain both for the jabs n teething.

i'm having a LOT of problem since the little miss started sprouting her teeth. i see a second one slowly surfacing on the bottom gum n bf has been PAINFUL. it's beginning to put me off bf her but i dont want to. i want to go on as long as possible but man, it hurts! n she really chomps down...so at the moment, i wait till she gets a little hungry before feeding her hence she wont have time to 'play'. how do u do it, ladies?? i feel bad for 'starving' her this way but no choice, i'm actually quite scared of bf her now. :(

Whoo some babies are crawling! Alexandra wriggles her way aroud the whole loung room and does commando style crawling every now and then, so its a little way off, but she is moving heaps and rolls around like a maniac! Well she hates banana! I thought shed love it , but nope she hates it almost as much as she hates brocolli! Im going to try apple on the weekend and then back to vegies.

Seems like most of these little august bubs are getting restless. Alex was up at 5am having a good old play, and she never wakes up, she has been sleeping right through since 7weeks. I think it was food related for her too, as she didnt each much of her solids yesterday. Mmmmmm.

Long time no post....! Sorry.... No excuses!!! So much has been happening in here! So many crawlers and eaters and teethers- way to go!

Milla is doing really well too - she has just got her first tooth (on Tuesday) - bottom left. I had no idea it was coming in the end - she hadn't been grizzly or drooly for over a month, and then without any grumpiness, all of a sudden I saw a tooth! Maybe it hurts them more when they are moving around under the gums?

I've started her on solids too - she is loving banana, paw paw, avocado, pear, sweet potato and pumpkin. Not so keen on apple though. I mix it all with a bit of farex -especially at dinner (like you said Becca, fill them with carbs!). I am having to feed her once at night still - usually at 3am or so. She is sleeping better, but I think its time for me to get tough and get rid of the dummy - that might end a few grizzles in the night as she has got too dependant on it :(

Milla is rolling everywhere now - both directions finally, after 2 months of only rolling to her right side! She hasn't got up on her knees at all yet though, so no crawling here.

I've been to the movies twice in the last two weeks to Babes-in-Arms sessions, and that went really well. Milla is a little TV addict (If I let her, which I try not to!), so she watched most the movie (Mathew McConaughey!), and slept the last 45 minutes. Beautiful. Lots of bubs cry during it, but it doesn't bother anyone, and I think if its not your own baby crying its pretty easy to tune out. It was very exciting going the first time - I got popcorn and coke, and we were all hyped up (I went with mum's group friend).

Well, I can't possibly do personals, there are just so many people! But I am loving reading all about the gorgeous clever bubs, and I hope all you mum's are doing well. And I hope you got spoilt yesterday :)

Hi everyone!

My little girl crawled today!!!! I cannot believe she is only 6.5 months old (her brother did this at nine months). I think she is just so determined to get to her brother's hot wheels cars.

Campari good to see you back. I agree, there are so many of us, and it is good to hear what everyone is up to and learn new things, and most importantly for me to not feel alone, that I am the only one experiencing things with Ella.

We have had a week of good sleeps at night, of at least 6hrs, sometime 8 hrs between feeds but then yesterday reverted back to feeding every 3 hours last night. She could be teething, she has a runny nose, red cheeks and lots of drool.

Will post again soon. Just wanted to share my good news.

Molly, comgrats on ur crawler! she'll keep u on your toes now!

Everyone's teething! It got pointed out to us today by Willa's Nonna that a tooth has poked through. Some parents we r we didn't even notice and she's been clingy past two days. No wonder.

So much has been happening!! There's too much to do personals, maybe if I was in here more often. Jensen has been reeeaally clingy over the last 2weeks or so, but still no teeth. Possibly a growth spurt? He seems so much smaller than other babies his age (at mothers group, the only one a bit smaller was a twin, and she's a day older than him). I think last week, I weight him with clothes on and he was only just 7kg, and his 000's don't fit anymore, but the 00's don't fit either coz they're too big. Today is Jensen's 6mth birthday! OMG where did the time go? We have a health nurse appt this afternoon, where we'll get his official stats. Tomorrow is needles. Daddy wishes to experience that. Haha, is he in for a shock!
Still, no crawling, but up on hands and knees and rocking back and forward. He does lift a knee off the ground and swing it to where it needs to be to start crawling, puts it down and picks it back up again and puts it back where he was. He is so frustrated that he knows what he's gotta do to move, but can't. Cries heaps. Most times its just head down on the floor, thumb in his mouth, making noises, while edging his knees forward!

The other day I left him with Andrew (in bed with a hangover), went to the kitchen and heard a thump. Andrew had gone back to sleep and lapsed in his parental duties and Jensen fell. By the sound of the thump, he landed body first then head. He cried and Andrew felt bad (and he was now fully awake!) They got over it.

What is it with ppl and them trying to feed my kid food? My mother's been trying for ages and I said, when he's six months. Well, you watch, now that 6mths has arrived it'll be a free-for-all. I personally don't think he's ready, as he's never hungry after a feed and happy and healthy. But I went into the kitchen and MIL was siving pear and feeding it to him. WTF? I had just had that conversation with her not 2 days ago. So when Andrew dropped him off to her this morning, I made him tell her NO FOOD. Even contemplated putting NIL FOOD sticker on his shirt. When * I * decide that he could do with some food(which could be next week, or next mth), * I * will start him on it and * I * will feed it to him. As his mother, I'd thought that was my perogative. Who knows whats going to happen on Wednesday when my mother looks after him. Sorry about that rant.

My birthday was good. I'm now the big 2-5. Went to lunch with my dad and grandma, went shopping with my sister and her son and my mother, then had dinner - just Andrew and I, at a nice Tex-Mex restaurant. When it says that the Habenero sauce is not for the faint-hearted... believe it!

Lastly, I'm in the process of organising Jensen's baptism. Andrew doesn't really want to do it, but hey, he got to choose that Jensen was circumcised, so I get to choose this. After all, he can denounce religion, can't give him his foreskin back.

Better go before the boss gets back and sees I'm not working, like he's already sprung me today... hehe.

Congrats to everyone else hitting the 6 month mark!

I know EXACTLY what you mean. I almost want to send my daughter to daycare instead of having MIL come to my house when I go back to work on May 1. She does the same thing! Why can't they remember that we are the mother and it is our call??? And in my case, it is also my house that she is in and just because she is there it doesn't give her the right to rearrange the linen cupboard!! Sorry, I had to rant too - not looking forward to going back to work. Seeing my boss on Thursday this week to find out if I can go back part time - keep your fingers crossed for me please girls.

By the way Eleanor is only 7.3kg and still in 00 and the other two kids at mothers group 2 months younger are bigger than her - one girl is 7.5 and the boy is 9kg.

Kimnastics - try not to listen to everyone about Hayden's size, the main thing is that he is happy and healthy. Wait till he starts moving around, he will even out.

I don't think Eleanor is teething - she wants everything in her mouth but doesn't seem clingy or grizzly. I can see the lumps at the bottom but that is about all.

Nothing else much to report, other than the Thomas trains are getting slobbered over now that she is moving better and Myles is not happy Eleanor wants to share his toys.

Lisa - I forgot in my previous post to say that I think it was in BabyLove that I read you don't have to sterilize the bottles after 6 months, but in another book I read that you should sterilize until 12 months. I guess it is your call (sorry, I don't use bottles).

The thing is that I don't sterilize Eleanor's drinking cup or her spoon or the bowls I feed her out of, so I think that is the reasoning behind not sterilizing after 6 months, because the other things we are using aren't sterilized.

MOllygirl - thanks - I think I will either google it or go to the bottle fed bubs thread, yes it seems most of you gals are BF! Lucky thangs :(

Ah the good ol MIL issues - my one seems to think more food is best, but Ive now drummed it into her head that what I say goes as far as feeding goes, I left DD with her last week for a couple of hours and only gave her enough solids for one feed. She said 'oh I think she could have had more', and I just said 'no, thats enough'. My biggest issue with MIL is her covering the baby with thick blankets, she seems to think that even in 30 degree temps that Alexandra will get cold when she takes a nap. Grrrr. I guess that sometimes you just have to be the bad DIL and put them in their place - and make sure your partners are on the same page and they drum it into their mothers that this time we are the mothers and what we say goes, and what we say is final. How easy this could turn into an anti MIL thread :lol:

All bubs are different, Alexandra is in size O and can still wear some of her OO clothes, my BF's bub is 2wks older and she is in O and 1 already.

Alexandra is on all fours rockinng back and forth - how long til we get a proper crawl???

Hey Lisa, my mum wanted me feeding DD#1 at only a couple of weeks of age!! It was so hard I cracked 'em and gave up! She was still fed very early tho, can't remember how old but very young! Poor little thing!

Bonnie has had her first meal last night! She wasn't too fussed tho!! LOL. Still loves her mummy's milk best.

I have decided I would like to sew a mop head to her shirts!! She gets so filthy scooting around the house!!
