EJ - That's awsome that she's taken the dummy. Gosh, it's been a life saver here. Those times that I'm attending to DS1 & Eden is screaming I just pop it in & ahhhhh, peace & quiet, for a while anyway.

Just a quick one... We finally had a poo! Yay. It was 5 or 6 days I think. Also my milk is back in full swing. He's feeding much shorter and seems to be only taking one side again. But the down side is that he's fussing on the boob cause it's coming too fast. Not that I go out much, but yesterday I was visiting a friend I hadn't seen in years (and her family was there) and Eden kept fussing cause it was coming too fast and would come off & I'd be squirting everywhere. Trying to get him back on was a chore as he was coping milk spray in his face. Maybe best for me not to feed in public anymore. But how annoying

EJ – How did the doctors appointment go? Hope you were able to get some help. That’s excellent news on the dummy!!! It took Jacob a while to take his too but since he has my boobs and I have been VERY thankful!! :) Dummies can be such a wonderful thing. Just a thought – have you tried putting some towels under Harper's mattress so her head is slightly higher than the rest of her body? We have done this with Jacob’s mattress in the bassinette and it’s made the world of difference.. just a thought, you may have already tried!! :hug: don’t be so hard on yourself! You’re doing a wonderful job by just caring as much as you do.
Cathie – Wow, that is way too expensive…sounds like you made the most out of your day regardless! Charlie sounds like such a good bub, I’m glad he’s still behaving for you. I am finally coming round to the idea that the rough stage is short lived and can see myself going back for another one…if you had of asked me two/three weeks ago I was still adamant I wasn’t going to have any more! Sounds a little ridiculous to you I’m sure, considering you have six. I have brothers that are twins so fingers crossed I don’t end up having twins!
Kaz – Yay for the smiles!!! They are the greatest…so addictive! Sounds like Will is doing so well. :)
Georgi - :lol: had to have a laugh at the squirting of milk everywhere…I had to feed in a mothers room the other day and I’m so lucky I had a spare top as when I picked Jacob up to burp him I reached down to pull up my nursing pad and bra and I had leaked milk ALL over my top – how embarrassing!
AFU – I just can’t believe how big Jacob is getting already :( I miss his tiny little body. He has been out of newborn sized nappies for a week now…he’s into infant already the little chubba. We had to change his size in a hurry as I went to visit my SIL and she was having a cuddle and it went up the top of his nappy and up his back, ruining his outfit and hers! The following day we pulled up at the paediatrician’s office and he ruined yet another outfit so we had to change him in the car. We got so nervous every time he passed wind!! :rofl: Still doing good here, he still spends a lot of time yawning and falling asleep at the boob but he is definitely nowhere near as cranky with overtiredness as he's finally sleeping more. When he gives a really big smile he sometimes has half a giggle, it is sooo cute! I can’t wait till he giggles properly. Anyways, better go get some things done while he’s sleeping :) Will post a link to my facebook in my next post so you can see how much he’s grown!

lol, DD is the same pulling off as it's too fast. I have to have a terry cloth at hand to press on otherwise everything gets soaked. I try sitting her more upright and leaning back - seems to help a bit, but she's a bit too floppy still to sit up. She'll be right once she's bigger. DS was the same.

Well, I spoke too soon. We've had a horrible day here. Jacob just wouldn't sleep no matter what I tried so I have had a very over tired and cranky baby on my hands. I suppose we all have our days right?! I was hanging out for DH to wake up so I could have a shower and brush my teeth at least but he was going to the gym, I broke down and said "please don't go to the gym today, I've had a rough day and could really use your help, just watch him while I have a shower please.." his response was 'when do I get to do something for myself?' ...... and needless to say, he's at the gym while I lay here on a mattress with Jacob finally cat napping beside me. What a crap crap day. Jacobs routine is to be bathed at six but given that DH has upped and gone to the gym I'll have to change that to work around him...*sigh*

Will slept for 8 hours on Sunday night! And 6 hours last night! Amazing! What's weird is that when Pip first started sleeping through, I'd stay awake and check on him every hour ... with Will I"m just sleeping ....

Miri's slept all day. Bah! At least DS also had a nap so I could grab an hour's sleep.

Ok for the first time in what seems like forever i'm going to get some personals done!!
MadB i have been trying to keep miss Harper upright as much as i can and i raised her cot even more today. I'm just frustrated and confused i think, in the moment when you are so tired and nursing the little one who just won't sleep or is so uncomfortable everything just seems so terrible, you feel like it'll never get better but i know it does. Tiredness and grumpiness can get the better of me sometimes i think :doh: Sounds like your little lady is handling things ok. Sounds like you got the tricky one first up and the easy one second and i got the easy two first up and the tricky one third. I think we're both doing the 'she will grow out of this' chant, they will because that's what everyone tells us right!!??
Cathie thanks so much for your kind words, we've both got our hands full. I manage fine when things are going smoothly and i feel like i'm in control but when things aren't so smooth i let the stress get the better or me. You must have so much patience :D My gosh that is rediculous pricing for the aquarium!! Familes would be one of their #1 customers surely yet they make it almost out of reach with such expensive entry fees. We went to the Melb Museum late last year and it was was $8 each for DH and i to get in and i think the boys were free, it was a great day and the boys loved it. Cheap and so much fun, that's the way everything should be :D A playgroup sounds like fun for the twins, i know i now enjoy the timeout without any guilt, it's good for them and it's good for me.
Kaz what great sleeps little Will is having. Great milk making!!! :D How's Pip going? Are things settling a little now?
Georgi, i am quite pleased Harper has taken the dummy all of a sudden she just started sucking on it. After all the times i'd put one in her mouth with no reaction and then finally yes!! It'll just help a little with her unsettled stage and when things are a little hectic with the boys. I hate hearing her cry. I saw your little/big man has been toilet training, sounds like he's doing really well. Our dirty nappies have slowed down a fair bit too and i'm not sure if this is because of the zantac she is on. She hasn't had a pooie bott since yesterday morning. I'm a little scared for when the next one comes :lol:
Jules i have raised the cot, i do find that helps also thanks for the suggestion. I'm so jealous of all the smiles, we're not getting many from Harper yet. Yep bring on the giggles, they are beautiful. I really hope Jacob is now snoozing, that he has a great night, you get some sleep and have a really good day tomorrow :hug:
To all the other lovely ladies and their babies i hope you are all well and enjoying your little ones.
AFU Harper is on Zantac but some days it just seems to have no effect whatsoever. The other night Harper was sleeping upright on Peter's chest and she'd snooze between burps and cries in discomfort from the gastric juices coming up... hours after a feed. Today she was really unsettled, not extremely grumpy but didn't sleep too much. THe best sleep she had all day was on me in the hugabub. But then after a bath tonight she went to sleep, no tears, no dummy, no going back and forth to settle!!! I'm in shock!! Apart from all of that horrible stuff she is beautiful, she now weighs 9.9lb and is growing beautifuly. The only thing i'm sad about is that so far with what we've been dealing with we haven't had many smiles. She doesn't get a floor play becasue the opportunity to have a play doesn't arrise as i'm keeping her upright as long as i can then she's sleepy and ready for bed. Once all this mess is sorted out i hope for a much happier baby. We got our photos today that the photographer came and took, one of them is my fb profile pic and i'll put a few more on for you all to see. I love them, the family one didn't really turn out like we suspected but i'll put it on fb for a laugh :lol:

JULES - When I was reading your comment to me I thought you were gonna say your BB fell out lol. I have to put a cloth nappy under my BB when feeding cause it normally comes so fast that Eden can't keep up so it dribbles out his mouth. He quite often has it on him too. Oh your DH was a little selfish yesterday. I can't believe he still went even when you asked him to stay. Big hugs... Hope Jacob has a good day today for you
MADB - Yeah those terry cloths are a god send! Glad Miri had a good sleep yesterday. Does your DS not always have day sleeps? DS1 loves his day sleeps. He can sleep up to 4 hours if I'd let him. I now wake him at 2.5 hours if he doesn't wake
KAZBAH - Yay on Will's sleeping. That's awsome! I hope E continues to sleep well through the night
EJ - That's funny that Harper has suddenly taken the dummy. DS1 just never did. Maybe I gave up too soon. We survived though. But it's easier with the first cause you can give them the attention but when DS1 needs attention poor Eden gets left to cry. That's where I'm finding the dummy is sooooo good. I'm sure you're the same. Your kids are so beautiful. So good looking. Does one of your boys have ginger hair? Or more strawberry blonde like my Byron
Well I'm happy to say that Eden slept from 8.30pm to 4.30am. Yay. I feed him at 7.30pm and go to bed when he does (DS1 is in bed by then) so I had enough sleep. He did wake at 2, 3 & 4am with little cries but went straight back to sleep. Unfortunately I tossed & turned wondering when he was gonna wake up so didn't have a good sleep, but hey, it's much better than the last couple of nights. I hope he keeps doing that, I'd be stoked.... Then I wouldn't care what time DS1 wakes in the morning (usually between 5 & 5.30am). I had such a busy afternoon yesterday that poor Eden didn't sleep much cause I was taking him in & out of the car etc. I'd say that's why, he was just so tired.
Happy Australia Day! DH is working today so it's just another normal day for me. Off for a walk then cleaning the bathrooms
Bah, so tired. HAve to drive the kids out to my parents today so DH can work from home - he's really behind and stressing.
I'm glad some of you are getting sleep :) DD slept 8-11:30 last night, then couldn't get her back to sleep till about 3am. She was awake again by 4:30... I guess she'll sleep all day again. I can't keep her awake - she just gets so angry! Even on days when she doesn't sleep so well during hte day, she still doesn't sleep at night.
Oh well, at least DH helps me.
EJ - Even though DD is easier than DS, I'm finding my patience is definitely shorter this time round. Maybe it's the accumulated sleep deficit over the past few years? I also find myself getting stressed and frustrated at times - the middle of the night is the worst, of course. I'm sure I didn't get like this with DS until 9-10 months or so :lol:
We used a dummy for a little while with DS when he was very unsettled (it's supposed to help with reflux), but he then refused it. Which I'm glad about really. I hate dummies :rofl: - the main reason being aesthetic.
Hope Eden does keep sleeping like that and you can sleep too Georgi!
MadB - I know, I don't like the sight of a baby with a dummy in it's mouth, but geeze it's a life-saver sometimes! Don't forget that we're in the middle of a fussy phase leading up to a "stormy" period with a developmental leap around 5-6 weeks. I hear you on the patience - I'm losing patience and then taking it out on Pip :( Poor lad.
Georgi - that's a great sleep!!! Must say, that if I was able to get up in the morning then I'd get so much more done.
EJ - you look gorgeous love!!! Poor little Harper - you know, what I've read and stuff says that they finish digesting 90mins after a meal, so their tummy is supposedly empty, but I reckon that's bumf - I know that Will brings up milk a couple of hours or more after a feed too. Poor little thing, can you smell the gastric juices on her breath or something???

Georgi just like you maybe i never persisted enough with the boys and a dummy but we made it through. For Harper with the reflux and being the 3rd child her taking that dummy is a bit of a god send. For now, if i can get rid of it whent he reflux settles down i'd be happy. I was always not a big fan dreading the thought of having get up to a baby solely because he/she needed the dummy put back in their mouth. Just me being lazy maybe :lol: We do have a bit of a strawberry blonde in our family (on DH's side). Aidan is much darker now than he was and Charlie boy is staying quite fair still. They were all born with dark hair just like Harpers though. I had ringlets :o as a little one and i can see a slight curl to Harper's hair. I hope she has them!! Great sleeps for your little man, you must have woken up sooo happily. I dont' know how you do the 5ish starts though, i know you have no choice but gosh it'd be tricky :lol:
Oh MadB your little lady is being a little cheekie :D Maybe has her days and nights mixed up but then like you said if she refuses to wake during the day it may take a little to sort that out. I hope it happens soon for you though. Yes patience is definately a learnt ability and i think it takes a lot of practice. I'm ok until all three are at me :lol: I'm glad your DH helps, it can be such a lonely frustrating time sometimes and when your body and mind is telling you it's sleep time but you can't do it... oohhh you just want to scream. Kaz it's so tricky not to take it out on the kids sometimes, i think sometimes they sense something and then become a little more clingy or demanding and that's when it just gets all too much. All digested in 90min?? Maybe for some but not for all :D Harper is constantly burping and swallowing all times of the day. She doesn't vomit milk, most of the time what she brings up is just swallowed back down, it never acutally comes out but when it does it's pretty much just clear. Sometimes when i'd go in to her when she cries out from a sleep her wrap and sheets a wet from the juices. Yes i can sometimes smell the juices.
Well last night was amazing. No tears at all and went to sleep and stayed asleep for 5 or 6 hours no resettling needed. I wonder if it had anything to do with the osteo appt we had yesterday? We've started off with a better week this week so lets just hope it continues. She seems to be doing ok, she's having a pooey bott every couple of days now and when she does it's sooo much thicker than the boys ever had at this age. I think it's the zantac.
That's about it, i can hear her waking up now. My quiet time was great while it lasted. Happy Australia Day girls and Happy Hottest 100 Day also.
EJ - Eden doesn't sleep with the dummy, I won't let him. As you said, I refuse to get up during the night to pop it back in. I only use it while he is awake and if i'm trying to get something done & he won't stop crying. I'm in bed by 9pm most nights so that makes it easier to get up so early. DS1 started waking at 5/5.30 when we took him out of the nursery (when I was about 34weeks pg) & put him in his new room cause it's so much lighter. So i'm pretty use to it now
I also totally agree about the look of dummies. I don't like seeing babies with them in either. Weird hey
I totally appreciate the practical benefits of dummies, so don't get me wrong there. :D
EJ that's great. Who knows why.. maybe it's a combination fo things (plus you could be on the other side of the 'hump' now...) That stuff can gum them up a bit - if it becomes a problem maybe talk to your doc about trying something else. There's a thread somewhere in the baby forum (I think...?) about this with a rec for a different medication.
I'm soo tired today. and stressed out. I don't think Dh actually got any work done. :wall: he drives me batty sometimes but that's subject for a whole other thread I think (one I'll probably never bother writing).
Anyway, you're right Kaz, it is 'that' time of course.
DD did manage to have a good 1 hour 'play' time today, which is pretty unusual for her (in the day time I mean :rofl:).
I go to bed early too - pretty much as soon as I can get DD to sleep.
