Hi guys. I'm officially on BB break, but thought I'd pop in and catch up.
Kaz - your poor mum! that's really quite disgusting way to treat a new mother. Sonds like the feeding is going really well
Pixie - hope you get that referal. I was starting to wonder if I needed to do that too... but of course I'm feeling fine when out with other people or at the docs. Stopping my BB compulsion has helped, strange as it may seem - I find I use it to ignore my children too much (and I appreciate the irony since this is a parenting website). So I'm just trying to get a handle on things and take it from there. I think part of the issue for me is the readjustment. I was just getting used to have me time again with a fully mobile, conversant child... and now I'm back into full=time mummy mode.
Ah, Miri's awake, I gotta go.
Oh, advice - Give yourself permission to listen to your child, trust your instincts and do what works for you.
-
OK. Now I have a little more time.
Glad Charlie's test went well Cathie. I hope Lily is doing ok. I think public shaming is totally inappropriate for little children.
I'm really glad to hear things are getting better for you Jules and EJ. The first 10 weeks or so with DS were a blur, but I do remember the point at which we'd seemed to turn a corner. It makes things a lot easier when they can lie down, that's for sure!
Miri's in medium nappies too. It's amazing how fast they grow, isn't it? It's second time round and I'm still blown away. By this time with DS I was back in full-time work and DH was a SAHD.... wow. And I guess she's due for her immunisations now too. Is anyone skipping/delaying at all? I'm not going to do the rotarvirus one.
Anyway, she's doing very well. Growing etc. Waking more in the night just now, but I've got feeding while lying down working for me so it's not so bad. Some days she sleeps heaps, some not much at all. What can you do? :dunno: I'm trying to follow my own advice and relax and go with it. I was getting a bit anxious about things for a while there. Felt really crap last week, and then came down with a cold. Now, snot notwithstanding, I'm feeling a lot better
I *think* she laughed the other day. Um, what else do we talk about with newborns...? OH, poo! Well she's going a bit less frequently, every other day or so.
I made some trimmer nappies, but have discovered the pockets are a bit tricky to stuff without overdoing it and causing leaks. I do like the fit though so I might make some AIOs or figure out a way to do sew-in-ones or something, so they don't take quite so long to dry. My BumGs are falling apart, so I actually need to make some more.
Someone mentioned Magicalls and leaks...? I found they need to be prewashed a LOT of times to avoid leaking straight out the sides and need to be pulled pretty tight too.
I've started doing some exercise - using the rowing machine as recommended by the physio. DS has to have a go too though. Right now it's ok as I'm so unfit I can only do a few minutes at a time anyway. I hope the novelty will wear off. On his daycare days I plan to do some exercises on the fit ball. Anyway, now my tummy muscles hurt. I have tummy muscles! :happydance:
-
hahaha yeah, poo ... how could you forget!!! Well Will is due for vaccs this week, but he and I both now have a cold, so I'm going to wait until he's over that. I find it easier to check for any reactions if he's well.
MadB - I haven't managed to get to make any nappies yet - I don't know how you've managed to do that! Yesterday I did a WiiFit workout, had to wait until DH took Pip away so I could do it in peace, else he wants to take over the Wii :duh: But geeze I managed a sweat! Found it really hard jogging on the spot, had to hold my boobs while they bounced and my jellybelly was bouncing up and down too. Might have to jog outside and get a good bra for it ...
Friend who's due on Saturday came over today, she's so well and active!! I keep telling her she's a biartch!!! We think she'll go over, but I've lent her a few nappies that Will has already grown out of, she can try them and then I'll sell them (hopefully to her!). Just 2 PUL covers, one fleece cover, a beehinds AIO and another fitted nappy. Showed her how to make a flat into a "prefold" to tuck inside the cover - does anyone else do that? Just put a prefold between the legs and a tight PUL cover over the top, works a treat and dries quickly.
Anyhows, according to WonderWeeks we should be "stormy" at the moment, but he's quite calm, not sure what's happening there!!!
But, off to the Wii!!!!
:heartbeat: kaz
-
Made one up. Think I've made it too bulky, but will remove the sewn-in bit if it doesn't work like this. Just need to pre-wash... I sew while pushing her in the pram in between stitching... when DS isn't here, obviously
-
What fabric, bamboo? Do you pre-wash it?
-
Microfibre cloth inside it needs washing. There's bamboo in it too
-
  8:30pm woo hoo
Tonight she woke up at 6pm so i got her to have a shower with DH, gave her a massage and fed her, she fell asleep feeding before 7pm so i put her to bed. She didn't last long but with a little going back and forth and another feed she settled again. And it's now 8:30pm and i'm not patting her little backside. I'm so excited.
My eyes are sore i'm so tired so i might have an early night. The only down fall having her in bed this early is i'll probably be up for 2 feeds throughout the night   It's ok i just wanted us to have a better bedtime routine going. Lets see if we can repeat it tomorrow night.
Hope all is well i'm going to make the most of my early night.
Sweet dreams girls xo
-
EJ -I'm glad you had a better time last night, we have always showered our babies they just love the water going onto there backs. My routine is shower Charlie at 9.00pm bottle at 9.30pm and in bed at 10.00pm.

Hi all! Sheesh, I’ve been off for awhile. I just haven’t sat down to the laptop at all, have just been fiddling with fb on my phone. It’s nice to be back :)
Jules, I know I need to do this too but just let other peoples’ words go in one ear out the other. Don’t feel like a failure just because one person doesn’t agree with how you are doing things. I think failure as a parent means doing something that doesn’t sit well with you and your child… or, like, starvation :) You love Jacob SO much and are doing an amazing job with him.
Cathie that’s just heartbreaking that Lily doesn’t like school. Give it a shot sending her in with Jake – she might try and be a “big girl” for her big brother. It’s good that they are at the same school – my niece only has her big brother with her this year – she’s in kinder and he’s in year 6. Glad Charlie’s hearing is fine! That’s a relief.
EJ sorry to hear about Harper’s wind :( That’s ages without a pooey bott! Jeepers! The bubbles are so cute, Millie is intentionally blowing raspberries now. She thinks she’s absolutely hilarious! Glad DH and Charlie had a lovely time together, and hooray for an 8.30pm finish!
Kaz that’s awesome about Will not fussing for the bottle for awhile! Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful :) I had the reverse happen with Millie, she’d be on the boob for ages and then automatically scream for her bottle. So you are totally on the right track there, lady! I hear you about the exercise jiggles… I was chanting the “need a new bra” mantra at Zumba on Tuesday!
MadB we’re going with the standard immunisation schedule, although we did refuse the Hep B straight after birth as it seemed too much for such a tiny body to handle, especially since she wasn’t at risk. We’re going o/s in June and she’s going into daycare in July and I just want to give her as much protection as we can. I luuuuurve Miri’s nappies, they look so cute :)
So, it has been a busy week. Monday I had my last session at the official local parent info session - the nurses were obviously trying to get us pre-Christmas Mummies to get our act together, so we did… Tuesday was a stay-home day which was the worst thing I could have done in terms of my mental state. I thought Millie might need a quiet day at home as we’ve been so busy, with a late night for her cousin’s birthday on Monday night, and she did – she was very good and slept very well, but I was a bit glum. Zumba helped a bit that night but the jiggling meant that I didn’t get into it so much! Wednesday us Mummies met up for coffee and a movie – No Strings Attached which was a bit crude to begin with but had some genuinely funny moments. We were all just so stoked to be out doing grown up things together. It was nice. I never thought I’d be into mothers’ group, but it has been great. Thursday we all went for a walk in Parra Park and today was yoga. Am I being too busy for Millie do you think? She has been fantastic – seems to like being out and having new things to look at in the morning, and then generally settles well in the afternoons. She has had a couple of hissy fits this week, but I think it’s just her asserting herself… I should add that her hissy fits tend to last only 20 minutes and an unsettled period means that she wakes completely between cycles and needs resettling, but this is rare. She’s a really good baby! I don’t want to over stress her, but I just find I need to get out of the house at least once a day.
I went for the ultrasound on Thursday – I have a lump in my jaw that is affecting chewing and occasionally sleeping. The films were being sent to my doc today so I’ll go see her about that on Monday… and yes I will get a referral to a counselor. It is ridiculous as Millie is a gorgeous little girl and so good for the vast majority of the time, there are no medical issues and I’m sure I’m doing a good job with her… but I just don’t feel right in myself. I have been through counseling before and I know it will help. Thanks for your support ladies.
I got the BBH trial pack… kinda wish I had got the medium pack! Most of the products are multifit but there’s two small there and the petite looks waaaay too small for my munchkin. The bamboo takes forever to dry which is annoying, I think I will make some microfibre inserts.
DH is away for a buck’s weekend! He’s the self-designated sensible person so I’m not too worried about him. Not so sure about the groom though…
Time for leftover risotto for dinner :) mmmmm… take care ladies, and have a lovely weekend!
xox

DS had nightmares about risotto the other night.
There's this microwave risotto I make very frequently (partly because DS loves it) - he calls it corn rice. DH got up to him cryign in his sleep and yelling I DON'T LOVE CORN RICE!!!
mum couldn't stop laughing when I told her. Then brought round some recipe books.
-
I think I know what you mean about how you feel pixie, sometimes I feel like that too. DD is so much easier than DS but I don't feel right somehow. :dunno: I've never seen a counsellor before. How does it work? WHat do you talk about and how?
-
Marcellus - that's funny with the risotto!!!! One of the meals I often do is cook some rice and put some frozen veg in with it for the last 3 mins, then stir through some chutney or relish (or onion jam if you have any!!!). Fry up a lamb backstrap, marinated in tomato stuff (the butchers do them, not woolies or coles) and then chop it up into bit-size pieces and stir the lamb + pan juices through the rice - easy and yum!!!!!
Counseling is gernerally the first session you talk about your history in a guided conversation. The second session can be more history, or just an update on what's happened since the first session, and some coping mechanisms you can start to use. These may be exercises with the baby to bond more, or reading, or writing a diary, lists etc. See your GP or MCHN as there are teams who can help which won't cost you anything.
Anyhows, I'm off today to lunch with some BB ladies including Sopdet, Maz, Tinks & Divvy! have a great day all!
-
Oh no!!! Just lost a huge post...here we go again!! Going to be somewhat shorter as I'm running out of time...
EJ - Harper sounds like she's doing wonderful on Zantac, I definately wouldn't change a thing! I hate giving Jacob his, he cries and tries his best not to swallow it - it makes me feel terrible. But the improvement makes it so worth it - I notice that if I miss a dose by accident due to hectic days or something he is really uncomfortable and unhappy. Yay on the 8.30 sleep! Great job! I need to concentrate now on getting Jacob to sleep in his cot at night time - he's still on the floor with me on a mattress and I would really like to get back into my bed sometime soon. I just hope I haven't created a bad habit. He settles so well when he can see me as he dozes off to sleep...
MadB - Great to see you on here, I understand you limiting your computer time but we love to hear from you when you get a chance! Sewing and pushing a pram at the same time...wow, you're a super multitasking mummy!
Kaz - How's the wii going? I definately need a new bra too... I have been going walking but haven't had the chance to crack out zumba yet...I have organised the lounge so I can start hopefully tomorrow!! Will let you know how it goes! :) Hope you enjoyed your lunch.
PP - Thanks for your kind words, I think you're doing an amazing job also, Millie looks soooo happy and healthy, and anyone can see how much you love her. She's lucky to have you as a mum. I have decided to have selective hearing when those negative people are around me, as what I'm doing suits me and Jacob and I'm happy with things the way they are. I don't have any experience to base this opinion on but I believe children need to fit in with our lifestyles too, so if that's what you did before then don't change it....sounds like she's doing just fine with the outings anyway! She probably loves it, the little socialite! I worried about taking Jacob travelling so much as we are always going somewhere but he has handled it well.
AFU - All good here, finally got an airconditioner put into Jacobs room so I'm sleeping on the floor on the mattress in there until he's settled then I plan to move back to my bedroom with DH but so far he hasn't had a night in his cot, he just settles so much better when he can see me...so I gotta slowly break that habit. Other than that, the zantac is still working it's wonders and we're having many happy days with plenty of smiles and giggles, I'm just so addicted to them! :)
I have a possibly really stupid question - is it safe to get your hair coloured while breastfeeding? I didn't get it done while I was pregnant due to chemicals but not sure if the chemicals still matter now with breast feeding or not?? I sorta feel embarrassed asking but I haven't had it done yet cause I am trying to play it safe, but man oh man, I would LOVE to get it done!
Hope you're all having a great weekend. xoxo
-
Enjoy your lunch Kaz
Can you fit the matress or cot in your room at all Jules? Sometimes it's easier for the transition to do in bed togetner, slide baby over to cot next to bed - put baby down in cot - move cot further away gradually, or something like that. Or baby on matress on floor of your room, you in your bed... i've said it before but don't worry about 'bad' habits (it's not bad for him to want his mummy during th enight or to settle better that way, and if you're all getting more sleep this way then it's better anyway). Anyways, give it some time and see how you go. Have you read the No Cry Sleep Solution? It has lots of ideas for this sort of thing.
-
Thanks MadB! I will check out that book! Big woohoo here this morning... Jacob spent the night in his cot!!! I put him back after each feed and he went straight to sleep!!!
-
That's so good Jules. Don't ever think to yourself you've created a bad habit, like MadB keeps saying you just do what works. If having Jacob sleep with you meant you got some sleep too then there's nothing wrong with that. Then, if and when you're ready to change things you do it, with a little gentle persuasion i'm sure Jacob will allow you to hop back into your bed :)
-
Well there you go! What were you worrying about? :p (just kidding)
It's always easiest to wait till they're ready to change before trying anything - don't do it when things are difficult.
After deciding to spend all day yesterday awake, miri's back to sleeping today. only 40 minutes at a time, but she's on her 3rd or 4th nap now, so a bit easier. DS is off with my parents till tomorrow arvo :happydance: The dogs must be getting a real workout.
-
Haha I know!! I was amazed!! I just stayed really relaxed and put him in his cot like I had for the past four nights and thought 'lets see what tonight brings!' and he was wonderful! I was so proud, we had success earlier than expected. Glad I just kept trying. :)
-
:happydance: yay!!!!!!!! Great work Jules!!!!! It should be OK to get your hair dyed!
MadB - hope you get a good night's rest tonight, I hear you on the dogs with your DS!!!!!!!
AFM - Will has had his developmental leap! He's now playing with his hanging toys on his playgym. Still sleeping well, although last night he slept from 9pm until 2am for his next feed, then until 8:30. So although it was a broken sleep, there was a decent break between feeds. And of course, I've told DH that next time Will wakes for a 6am feed I'm taking the dogs for a walk after - and he hasn't woken at 6ish since!!!!!
DH & Pip are watching ScoobyDoo that we taped on Friday night, I've been folding clothes (2 baskets down, around 4 to go :( ) and I'll be cooking tea very soon, mexican tonight, YAY!
-
MadB - Charlie has also been doing the short sleeps during the day 40 - 45mins 3 to 4 sleeps during the day. Not getting much done around the house so have decided to start doing my housework like the vacuming, mopping ect on the weekends when hubby is home than he can look after the little monkey.
Jules - Excellent what a good little boy.
Twins have been so much better since Lily started school just wondering if Lily had something to do with there behaviour. I think so......
Lily wants to go to school tomorrow as she is going to catch the bus home yay for the bus, it drops the kids off right in front of our driveway, just have to walk down to get them.
-
Hi everyone! I just haven't been able to get onto my computer much at all so I haven't caught up here or on FB.
Our Sydney trip was great. Everyone loved meeting Eden and he was just a dream child the whole time. He was wonderful on the plane too. He had his immunisation on the day before we left and I was worried he was going to be unsettled but luckily he slept for 4 days straight! He is still sleeping through the night. Some mornings I wake him around 5.30/6am as DS1 still wakes early.
As usual we came back from Sydney with colds. Thankfully Eden didn't catch it but the rest of us did. I then got mastitis again, last Friday. I got into my accupuncturist and seemed to get ontop of it. I am fully better today. I'm even contemplating returning to the gym today.
I hope you're all well and I'll read through the posts as soon as I'm able to .....
Hopefully I'll be able to get onto BB a little more

Bahhahahahaha MadB – poor DS having nightmares about risotto! With counseling… I guess it depends on the style of the person. The last lady I saw sort of asked me “so how are you?” at the beginning of each session (after the history was established) and let me talk myself around in circles until I was all unwound, and would then ask one or two reeeeeally targeted, pertinent questions that would unlock a whole lot of thoughts, emotions and perspective. Then she’d give me a couple of things to work on/focus on. I thought about going back to her, and if things don’t work out with this new one, I will, but I feel like they are separate issues and I’d kind of like to start fresh with someone new. She’s also situated further away now so it’s also a matter of convenience. My GP listened to me this morning and has listed it as PND, but I feel like it’s an identity thing… like the person I was before isn’t there anymore and I’m “just” Mummy. I LOVE being Amelia’s mum, don’t get me wrong, but the way I feel about myself has changed. Self esteem has never been my strong suit so I’m hoping this lady can give me some perspective.
Kaz that recipe sounds YUMMY. It sounds like Will is doing so well :) Man, folding… it’s neverending!
Jules, awesome that Jacob has slept in his cot! If Millie freaks out when I go to walk away I sit on the floor next to her cot and read, or sing, or talk to her. She usually just drifts off happily then. Re: the lifestyle thing… that’s just it, I was always a homebody before – happy to read/sew etc and wouldn’t necessarily go out for days at a time during the school holidays if I had some good books or DVDs (or God forbid had some marking etc to do :) ).
Cathie I’m so glad Lily wants to go to school :) and good on the twins – they must feel like the responsible big siblings now!
Hi Georgi! Welcome back :) What a good boy Eden is, glad the immunisations didn’t cause any issues.
So, as for us... Millie has started freaking out during some feeds – she’ll start okay, but either when I stop to burp her, or she spits out the bottle, she starts to cry and squirm and struggle and I can’t get her to take it back. She’s got all these strategies now to avoid finishing the bottle, like she’ll take it and suck, but then let it all dribble out the side of her mouth. So from being an enthusiastic, super-efficient feeder, she has become a fussy, messy little grot. She only finishes maybe one bottle per day, and leaves a good chunk of most of the others. Last night she screamed the house down after 20mL, and in spite of position changes, burping, gripe water etc she would not take anymore. So I asked my GP about it this morning and she said we’d start watching her for reflux, even though she’s not actually vomiting. Booooo. Had her weighed and measured as a baseline, she’s 5.5kg and 61cm long!! She was asleep in her cot a minute ago but she woke up coughing then started crying – Doc said her chest is completely clear so the cause of the coughing is more likely digestive than respiratory. So she’s next to me in her rocker now – it’s adjustable so she’s sitting slightly upright which seems to make her happy. She’s batting at her toys and sucking on her fist, like… really slurping. Cute :)
The lump in my jaw is nothing drastic – looks like a type of cyst in/on my parotid gland. It comes and goes and given that it’s all wound up with the facial nerve I really don’t want to risk surgery. So it will do its come-and-go routine and I’ll just deal with it. And obviously I got the referral. First available appointment is on 3 March so I’ll hang out til then.
UPDATE: just fed Millie and for once she took her whole bottle. She looks completely drunk now :) YAY. Now I have to go out and buy a cake for my FIL’s birthday. So I have to juggle a baby and a cakebox. This should be fun.
Hope you’re all well!

Glad your trip went well Georgi! Have you done ultrasound for your breasts? sometimes it helps with recurrent lumps etc.
Sitting upright helping Pixie? DS was always happier upright early on. Luckily his reflux eased off by 12 weeks or so. Some kids have it for aaaages. A friend's daughter had a cough for yonks (she's about 18 months now) was diagnosed with asthma and something else. finally saw a different doctor and found it's probably all to do with reflux - she's on meds and hopefully it'll be sorted soon. She might also have asthma, but they have to fix the reflux first.
Yay for Will Kaz. I think Miri's almost there too.
hmmmm Cathie... maybe there's extra good news in Lily going to school. The bus sounds very handy!
DH has gone to pick up DS. Making spag bog for dinner - hope we don't have any more bad dreams :p
-
Cathie - yay on the twin's behaviour!!! Glad Lily's a bit happier with school too.
georgi - awww on the trip :) Haven't heard about acupuncture for mastitis before?
PP - that's really annoying about the bottle :( But well done on you and Millie for persisting - drunk babies rock!!!!
AFM - Hanging out for Will to wake up, my right BB is lumpy and I want him to feed off it. He's due in the next half hour, but don't know if I can wait that long? It's hurting :( Little bugger was attached to me from about 2am until 5am this morning, but he fell asleep on the left (no right) at the 10am feed, and then DH gave him a bottle at 1:30 cause I was on the phone to Telstra (80 minute phone call!)
-
Hi all!
MadB, Millie definitely prefers to be upright. So in her stroller, car seat, carrier or rocker (or on my lap :)) she's perfectly happy. I will have to elevate one end of her cot I think because she fussed a lot going down for this latest sleep, even though it was about 2 hours since her last feed and she'd been in the stroller and car seat for that time. Bummer about the misdiagnosis for your friend's little one. When Millie started coughing, asthma was my first thought since I have it, but it's only feed related and she's super healthy otherwise.
Kaz I know it was painful, but gee that's awesome that your supply has got to that point! I saw a sign outside a primary school this morning: "The only time success comes before work is in the dictionary." Oh so true... your hard work is paying off :)
So, I went back to the GP today (two days in a row, that sucks!!! but her feeds were terrible last night and her nappies haven't been very wet) and had to feed Millie in the waiting room. Oh my goodness she made a scene. Poor little chook. Doc said that I didn't need a script for Zantac, but recommended it, so off I went to the pharmacy. The pharmacist wouldn't let me have it! He said it's not recommended for infants (wth, I know Harper and Jacob are on it!!!???) and instead suggested the AR formula. Which, I guess, kind of makes sense - if there's a non-medicated way of helping her, since she's already ff... okay, we'll try it. So, another can of formula, another set of teats.
Ah she's awake, I'll let you know how it goes.
...okay, so she got about 120mL into her before she refused it and started yelling. She won't let me put her down at all, she's draped over my forearm like a leopard in a tree. I've asked DH to check at another pharmacy on the way home. This is awful, when she's crying she looks at me like "Mummy make it better" and I CAN'T. Jules and EJ I so feel for you and your little ones.
Gotta go.
xox
-
um, maybe don't tell them it's for her....
-
What about infant gaviscon?? You can buy that over the counter. Does she throw her head back when she's screaming PP? Supposedly that's is a sign!? We too find Harper likes that over the arm hold.
-
Pweeeeheehee MadB... I'll keep that in mind for next time :)
Yes, EJ, she was throwing her head back. Poor little thing it was hard to keep a hold on her.
DH went to one pharmacy in the city who was all set to give it to him without a script, but they didn't have it in stock. So he got home and jumped on his scooter (his new toy) and went to one local pharmacy who refused to give either zantac or infant gaviscon to him, insisted she actually just had wind, and sold him Infacol drops... I phoned another pharmacy (by this time it's almost 7pm and coming up to Millie's next feed) and spoke to the pharmacist - he said a script is needed for infant zantac, but he had infant gaviscon in stock and would I like to get it in the morning - hell no we need it tonight!! I shooed DH out the door and begged the guy to stay open for a few more minutes. He did, God bless 'im :) Tried it in the next feed... she got a lot more down before spitting out the bottle and yelling, and after a bit of a rest and settle she took the rest. We gave her a bath and she went to bed with minimal fuss. Poor little thing was exhausted. The early morning feed (generally between 2-4am) has been the worst so I will reserve my celebratory dance until after that one.
It's just very annoying that you get different stories everywhere you go. GP says no script. One pharmacist says it's not recommended at all. Another says sure you can have it without script. Another says you have to have script. And then the wonderful people who think they know better than the GP and the parents and deny that it's reflux at all. I don't mind following regulations as far as scripts, medications etc are concerned but can they all get their stories straight?!
Night all.
xox
-
OMG PP that is so rediculous!!! Like you said you don't mind following regulations but get your facts right!!!!!!! We were given a script with our zantac and the words of the dr who prescribed it for me were that 'with the symptoms i've described it could be silent reflux, he will give us a script for zantac and we can give it a go it can't harm her' :o Not terribly reasuring but i was confident in myself that it was what we were dealing with. The zantac can taken a couple of weeks to really take effect and make a difference and as you know an hour can feel like a day and a day like a week. So before 2 weeks of zantac were up i was at the chemist begging them to know if there was anything else i could do for her. I was told i could give her infant gaviscon and the assistant even confirmed this with the pharmasist for me. I even asked the question repeatedly finding out when to give it and how often. In our situation i have actually not continued to give infant gavison to her, the zantac began to take effect and it got to the point where i couldn't bare putting all these foreign things in her little mouth/belly.
I hope you get some results from the gaviscon with her morning feed, poor bub and poor mum and dad.
Grrrrrr at the suggestion that you don't know the difference between wind and reflux. Very clear differences in my opinion.
Good luck
-
Wha..!??
Sure, they'd know better.... That's almost funny. Fingers crossed for tonight
Did she have these symptoms before? Have you changed formulas or anything?
Anyway, next time "It's for me. Yes, I've used it before"
-
MADB - No, I haven't tried ultrasound but have heard it's good. I was almost going to make a call to a physio but I just don't know of one to go to. There is one around the corner but I don't know how good they are with this type of stuff. There is one near my hospital that specialise in womens health but it's about a 20min drive. It's not a drive I wanted to do at the last minute. I actually got the mastitis in a different area in the breast to last time
KAZBAH - I'd never heard of AP for mastitis either. I just love my therapist, he's that good that I was confident he could help in someway. AP is my new form of therapy for everything. But again, it's only cause my therapist is so good. I don't think they're all like that. Wow, 2 to 5am. Surely you can't be getting a decent sleep? Lucky if you are. I can fall asleep while feeding but it's generally only for a few mins
PP - Oh, what a terrible time you're having. I hope you can get it sorted soon.
EJ - And how is your princess? How are you coping with the 3 kids? I admire you that's for sure. You don't have family around either do you? My sister & I were talking yesterday (she has 3 girls, 5, 4 & 3yo) & we were saying how much easier it would be if we had parents to help. She has my mum, but mum is partially deaf & partially blind so she can't drive. I have my dad's sister but I'm not comfortable throwing two kids at her. There is no way I could cope with 3
Well I have officially returned to work! Eeeek.... I have my first appointment tonight. It's much earlier than we were expecting but my Sydney based firm has opened a Gold Coast office and they're flat out. At this stage I am working around DH's roster so I can only see clients when he's home. His on day shift this week so I have an appointment tonight & tomorrow night. There will be some weeks where I can't go see clients, like when he's on night shift and evenings. The appointments are only for a few hours but my appointment tonight is over an hours drive. It will just be hard getting home late and waking so early. So even less time on BB for me :(
Eden had a rough day yesterday as I was out all morning getting my stuff ready for work. He hardly slept all day. So when it came to his 7.30pm feed he was just too tired and hardly had any. So therefore he woke at 4.40am for a feed. Of course I couldn't get back to sleep so when 5.30am came along I thought DS1 should be up any minute so I got up. Of course he's not up yet, which is always the way hey.

oh yeah, it definately is the way Georgi  Hope all works out with your return to work - something I'm not looking forward to myself

How long is bubs awake time now? Harper has pretty much been happy with and hour and then more than ready for bed but the last couple of days she's been cat napping so i'm wondering if she'd prefer to be awake a little longer?? What's everyone else up to??
-
I have learnt to sleep while feeding - have to since DD's up every 2-3 hours. She was doing longer stretches but not now.
She's tired after an hour, but doesn't always go to sleep when she needs to.
Hope all goes well withyour return to work Georgi! Sounds like you can work it around your parenting ok.

EJ- Charlie is up for hour and half and than his ready to go back to sleep. He sleeps in his rocker during the day and at night he sleeps in his hammock.

Jules can i ask what weight Jacob is and the dosage of zantac he's on? Harper's symptoms seem to be coming back and our dosage has never been changed. Harper is on .8 3x a day. I'm now waiting for a call back from the doctors to see if they'll change it. I also just walked up to the health nurse and she now weighs 5050kg.
Thanks Cathie, i have a feeling the sleeps are happening because of the reflux symptoms all over again but at the same time i know she's getting to the stage where she might want to stay awake a little longer. Ohhhh my mind is on overdrive :juggle:
We have been told we can increase dosage to 1mg 3x day. Lets hope we have a happy little girl again soon.
-
I forgot to add - we went to the nurse yesterday, she's 60.5cm and 5.5kg. So she's doing well anyway
-
He stays up for around an hour some times?
Hey has everyone got their baby bonus sorted yet? We're still waiting to find out :(
-
Really Kaz? We've been getting ours for a while.

HI girls,
SOrry it's been a hectic few days and i haven't had chance to say hi properly. THis still might be a bit of a selfish post but i will get back to you all.
Since the weekend Harper's reflux has been coming back, at first i thought it was just because i'd had some homemade pizza with onion on it but it gradually got worse to the point where it was like we were back at the beginning all over again. Tue night she woke up for at least 4 feeds (we were only doing 1 or 2) and then yesterday she couldn't sleep more than 40min and i had no sucess at all in resettling her. Her best sleep all day was in the wrap on me where i listened to her constantly swallowing. I went to the MCHN for a weigh and i'd explained to her that i couldn't get into the dr's and she told me to call them back and either get them to increase her dose over the phone all demand to be seen. She was really supportive this time!! So they have increased it for me and i just hope to see an improvement today. So far she's slept longer than 40min, i heard a little noise from her at the 40min mark but she resettled herself!! Because things were going really well i thought maybe we'd be able to be over all of this by the 3 month mark but maybe not!!??
I was so physically and emotionally exhausted yesterday i was in bed at 9pm (no sewing or 'me time') i slept great and so did Harper, she was obvioulsy exhusted after the last few days and didn't wake for a feed until after 5am. I slept on and off from then until Aidan came into me at 7ish.
Georgi good to hear things are going well but it does sound like things will start to get fairly busy for you. Maybe we can say quick hi's on fb now and again. I think it was you asking about having family help. I actually do have help, i try to do as much as i can on my own but i do have support around me. My MIL has Aidan on a friday morning and is about to take him to swimming lessons on those days. My mum has been staying with us since Dec last year, she has helped enormously, although she's a bit emotional at the moment so some days she doesn't show her face. The help is great but i like to think i can do it on my own also. A pride thing maybe :)
PP i hope you have had some relief. How's Miss Millie??
MadB how are you and your little lady?
Kaz we have been getting our baby bonus for a good few weeks now.
Cathie, Charlie boy sounds like such a little pleasure. I see that the twins are TT!!! Great for you, some days it does seem like you're constantly changing bottoms doesn't it!?
Ok better go before little miss wakes, we're going out for a bit today so i hope that doesn't bother Harper too much.
Talk soon girls xo
