Babies Born December 1st-15th 2010 #2

"Gastroschisis refers to a (full thickness) defect in the abdominal wall, adjacent to the umbilical cord insertion, through which extrusion of the fetal bowel has occurred."

She had a 6mm whole in her belly, and when she was born all of her small intestine and part of her large intestine was out.
Her bowel may come normal, it may not. Its better than it was.
If you thinking of your bowel, its like a big tube. And the movement of the bowel is like it being squeezed from one end to the other.
Hannah's bowel, although it rarely does it anymore, tends to get 'confused' at times, and will go backwards for a little bit causing her to vomit a large amout if its just after a feed.
And there's always a chance that there may be a small blockage, too. Which is why we need to keep an eye on her nappies. And always checking her stomach to make sure its soft.
Because it gets bulgy more solid and theres no poop it means there's a massive problem/blockage where the bowel isn't working and its swelling up.

So little is known about gastroschisis, which is amazing because its occurs in 5-10,000 live births. Nearly always in a mother under 20. No cause is known yet.

Hannah's basically normal now, just people keep thinking she's a newborn until she smiles and starts talking to them.
Or they ask how old she is and I say 3 months and they don't believe me.
Gastro-babies have a slow growth rate, and are generally small forever. So, although DP and I are tall people, Hannah may not be. She's fairly petite now. Small body, but with long legs.
She's recently moved to OOOO clothes, but Targets clothes are too small for her now. Massive size difference when compared to Kmart. Kmart 0000 are just starting to fit. But she tends to wear alot of pants. She's taken to wearing 000 pants because she needs the length.

Charlotte what a challenging beginning you have had with Hannah. I have seen cases of Gastroschisis on tv before. Sounds like she is a beautiful petite little one. It really is great to have you with us :)

I'm off to bed early tonight, Harper has gone down really well and i did put her in her sleeping bag. It fits her much tighter than previously so i hope she's happy in it.

Georgi - Sounds like Eden's weight gain is going well too! Jacob was four months (16 weeks) today. Do you count the months by the date each month or by weeks? Probably a stupid question... Gosh, one a week - what that must be like!! Jacob was like 10+ dirty nappies a day at the beginning and I'm estatic to have just one/two a day normally :lol:

EJ - Poor Aidan!!! :( I'm so glad he's feeling much better. Poor little cutie. That's great Harper behaved like an angel for her babysitters :) I think you have nothing to lose by trying the sleeping bag....at most you'll just have a few extra wake ups? Which at this point, isn't such a big deal anymore. Harpers nights sound very similar to Jacobs... Oh and I just read the post about you putting Harper to sleep in her sleeping bag and I'm too lazy to adjust my post hehe. Let us know how her night goes!! GOOD LUCK!!

Charlotte - Welcome to our group!! So excited to have you here! :) Gosh, Hannah was a little bub! Sounds like you've hard a bit of a rough start there, I'm glad things are improving. Look forward to getting to know more about you and the lovely little Hannah. Good luck with the routines...I still don't have one here, I just go with the flow, Jacob is setting his own little routine it seems. But just when I think I have him figured out he goes and changes it on me!! Cheeky little monkeys they are.

Well ladies, exciting news to share here!! Forgot to tell you all that yesterday Jacob rolled from his tummy to his back three times!!! I kept putting him back to see if it was a fluke!! Poor little tiger looked at me the fourth time like I was losing my mind hehe. Next bit of exciting news, a wonderful lady has posted me an MCN to try!! I am so excited!! We're going to give it a go tomorrow....given how excited I was to receive it in the mail I'll probably end up being another converted mother!! My poor mum and dad, I fill their bin with disposables each time I'm back there (the council has given them the most pathetic little bins) and she's hoping I like them so she can buy some to keep there!

EJ - How'd harper go in her sleeping bag? So are you saying that you don't wrap her?

I am thinking I might try to stop wrapping Eden cause he keeps coming out of it & I am wondering if that is why he is waking during the night. He is stirring for around 10mins then going back to sleep. This morning I went in at 4am as he was stirring a little more so & he had one arm out flapping around. I was always a really good wrapper & didn't have this problem with DS1. Is everyone elses bubs wrapped?

CHARLOTTE - Welcome! Of course you can join in here, we would love to have a new addition. My DS1 was nearly 7 weeks premature & I joined the August group but found that I couldn't relate to them & the stages of their babies so I ended up going to the group of the date he was due. For me, that suited better cause I could relate more. Whatever works for you of course. Sounds like you've had a rough journey

MADB - Lol, thanks for the jinx... I've expressed this morning & will give him a bottle to make sure he will still take it. It's been about a week since he's last had one. He'll have another on Monday when I go to work so by Tues he should be fine with it. How'd the hammock go?

JULES - I count the months by calendar months as there is 4.3weeks in a month and the immunisation goes by months too. Yay of the rolling. Very exciting. And no doubt you'll be a converted MCN user. I don't use them, but know many that do & just love them

So now I think Eden's night waking has nothing to do with his feeding as he fed really well each feed yesterday but still woke at 4am. So for now I have just accepted that he's going through a stage & just hoping it passes soon. Though next week I won't be so concerned as DH will be here to get up to DS1 when he wakes & I can sleep in! I didn't have too much trouble getting back to sleep this time which is great. Plus, DS1 woke at 6 instead of 5.30 so I got an extra half hour

Jules it was horrible seeing Aidan unwell like that, he's only ever had gastro once and that was when he was about 18 months old. Luckily yesterday was nothing like that. I did sleep Harper in her sleeping bag and she had an exact same night as the night before so that's good. It didn't change the lengths which is not what i was trying to do it was to just save the tangle. Yes i was a little hesitant in that i just didn't want to compltely confuse her and make her have a really interupted sleep but she was fine. Enjoy the cloth Jules, it's not hard to get addicted :)

Georgi up until last night Harper was wrapped every sleep. I'd wrap her using a cot sheet placed down lenght ways and fold the top over and tuck her arms in (the angle wrap i think they call it). I could get her all nice and snug initially and her day sleeps were not an issue but the nights were getting to be, by the morning and after a few wake ups for feeds she'd be all loose and in a bit of a mess. So yesterday i thought i'd try the sleeping bag again. It's tighter on her than it was before and just as snug as the sheet and there was no difference in her sleep from using it. Last night.... who knows what tonight could bring. I just put her down for her morning sleep and she went down without an issue.

Charlie boy was wrapped until after his 1st birthday, it was just a sleep association that he loved and it took a while to get him out of it. Actually from memory i went to sleep school with him at 5 months and they told me to wrap him, before that i'm not sure that i was. So he was a bit bigger and the sheet wasn't as oversized for him.

Well little miss is waking up from her 40 min, i'm going to go try and resettle her. I'm sure i'll back later girls.

will slept just fine last night, the night before was a bit unsettled. just gorgeous though! he's changed so much in the past 2 weeks - he's watching us as we walk around the room, following us with his head. Plus lots of smiles and grabbing at toys and people! Such a good time to bring him up here to meet the family :) although my cousin did try to feed him "bananas" lollies! I took a very, very deep breath and merely said "hey Stace, he's still on the boob for feeds!" as I reminded myself that they didn't see Pip at this age, and they won't see us for another year if not longer. *sighs* My uncle bought Will a set of "blinky bill" australian mint coins! just gorgeous!

How's the sleeping bag going EJ?

Well dD is in the hammock for the first time. Only took an hour to get her to sleep. But that's to be expected when you try something new. Fingers crosse.d She actually slept 75min (!!!) in the ergo at the pool this morning. Now I promised myself I wasn't going to get all obsessed about sleep.... and here I am again :rofl:
Miri isn't reaching for thigns yet. She's grasping her hands together and staring intently at them, so perhaps it's not too far off. She's always trying to sit up when I'm holding her, but poor poppet just ends up flopping around.

Eden's been crying for 10mins trying to get to sleep. He did this last night too. I ended up getting him up for an hour or so before feeding him to sleep. He's never done this before. I hope it's not a habit he's gonna get into. Poor lil mite.

EJ wow Charlie was wrapped till late. My sisters first was wrapped till around 12 months too. DS1 was weaned around 4.5months which is when I'll wean Eden too. I think he may even be ready now, but I'm not :)

KAZ Was your cousin serious feeding him banana lollies? Surely she was just kidding???

MADB Yeah Eden is always trying to sit up too. What's with that??? Hope the hammock works

Georgi - Maybe Eden is going through a growth spurt too? Either way I think it's meant to be normal for this age...? Who knows, they always have us guessing! Yay on him to sleep! Jacob has been asleep for 15 mins and just woke for a few more little pats on the butt and he's gone back to sleep..for now. He'll wake for a feed (which I do in the dark in his room) in the forty mins or so. Oh and I'm a wrapper here too....Jacob gets wrapped for every sleep in his 'wrap me up'....which he just loves. There is no way I can get away with not wrapping him, he's super active and wakes himself up constantly with his hands.

EJ - I'm so glad the sleeping bag didn't change things for the worse. At least it'll make things a little easier on you! Having to fix a sheet and re wrap her every time would be slightly painful!! I love the wrap me up, one zip and it's all done!!

Kaz - So glad you're having a lovely time....LOLLIES!!! :lol: gosh that is hilarious. How old is your cousin?? Surely it was some kind of weird joke? Lucky you were around to stop that one!!

MadB - How'd the hammock go? I really hope it works for you, so you don't need to end up obsessing over sleep. :) I think it's normal, sounds like we can all get a bit that way. I think it's more the fact that we know how much it affects them and hate to see them so overtired.

I'm exhausted tonight, hoping for an uninterrupted dinner (DH is making a big beautiful salad as I type) and then one more feed for the little man and off to bed for the night!! Hope you all had a lovely day with your beautiful bubs! xox

Ah, she slept in there for 40 minutes. Looked like she might resettle, but nup. Very tired and unsettled this arvo. 3 hours later she's finally asleep again. I think she's due for a poo :o
Last night she wasw grunting and farting so much :lol: It woke me up so I put her back in her cot. When she woke later she was sideways :D - she's a little boot-scooter. I think DS was quicker developing fine motor skills - I'm sure he was grabbing at thigns by now. But Miri seems more into gross motor skills. I find it so fascinating how they do things at different times and are better or worse at different things.

I must I must I must go to bed earlier :) But I just downloaded the new season of Being Human...

MADB - I love the development differences too. I love comparing the boys for some crazy reason

JULES -I was wondering growth spurt but he's not feeding more often or having more in volume either. So huh, who knows

Eden started stirring around 4.30am, by 4.50am I was over it so I got up to feed him, and once again, he's out of his wrap & done a 180 turn in the cot. He seems to do this alot. I don't know what to do about this wrapping situation. I am thinking of cutting a muslin wrap in half, so I can just wrap down his arms and them wrap him in the kiddapottomus over that. I'm gonna give that a go tonight and see.

Not much on today. DH is working again so I'm home with the kids. Might do a bit of shopping.

Georgi have you just a cot sheet? That's what i progressed to once the muslin sized wraps no longer worked.

MadB give it some time and see how she goes. Stressing about sleep is only natural i think, to what extent we do it can maybe be controled but i think no matter what we're going to do it :)

Jules initially the sleeping bag didn't change things but yesteday may have been another story. She was a bit refluxy which may have been because i attempted to lessen the dose and i had some pizza (spicy salami) I probably shouldn't have done the two things together. But yesterdays sleeps were sometimes not even 40 min alllll day. I just went with it, she was very calm and happy for the most part. If it was the sleeping bag that was doing it i think it'd still rather just work with it until she's used to it because like you say it's much easier than wrapping. Do you get lots of comments about Jacob looking uncomfortable in it??

It is really interesting to be able to see how your children progress differently. For me Aidan did things pretty much as they say he should have which is facinating in itself then Charlie came along and for the most part was very similar but not all that much quicker if at all compared to Aidan. Harper is sooooo strong in the back and unless she is trying to go to sleep she hates lying down in your arms. Just wants to sit up. And tummy time, she loves it!!! Never complains to be rolled over. I hope with two brothers she doesn't do things too quickly. She's my baby :)

Well i must go the boys need some breakfast and Harper is awake. We had my BIL 40th last night and i ended up taking Harper with us, it was good but there were some family dramas and i didn't get home until 2:30am. Peter is pretty much still passed out in bed but he better be prepared to be up soon because i want some kind of weekend today :D

MadB, I had to giggle at your boot scooting comment! I hope you have a bit of success with the hammock. I went and tried out an ergo yesterday and she screamed the shop down :redface: It was so snug for me – man it’s comfy! - but she freaked out. I dunno, she likes the Infantino but I find the back support isn’t as good for me. I might take her back on a day when the stars align and try again!

Kaz, it sounds like you’re having a lovely holiday and enjoying those beautiful changes in Will! The Blinky Bill coin set is awesome, isn’t it? My cousin gave Millie one so I have been buying them for friends since then. Such a nice momento.

Georgi, great that your mum will be there for you! Hope the training goes well this week. Millie is still in her wrap me up for most sleeps… actually every sleep in her cot. The hand parts are usually drenched as she likes to suck on her hands now! But it keeps her snug and she knows that when it goes on, it’s bed time.

Jules, great news on Jacob’s weight!! What a healthy little boy. Wonderful that he’s rolling. Hope the MCN experiment works out for you, it’s addictive ;)

EJ, sorry to hear poor Aiden was unwell. Hooray for the slow cooker, mine is rarely in the cupboard these days! Gosh our girls are similar – Millie has a very strong back too and she’ll happily have extended tummy time!

Welcome Charlotte! Congratulations on the progress you and your little girl have made. This is a wide ranging group – I have a November baby (she was 15 days early) but stuck with this group because they are AWESOME ladies – supportive and friendly and I couldn’t do without them :)

All is well here. Millie had some pictures taken on Friday, which I booked in a couple of weeks ago. I was hoping she’d have a big morning sleep so she’d be a bit chirpy for the pics… nup. Queen of the catnap. So I got to the venue early in the hope that the photographer would be able to start a little early, which he did… thank goodness, as when he finished the shoot at the booked time, she cracked it. Big time. He still got some nice shots :) We went to the league on Friday night and she managed very well, not frightened by the noise or anything! She’s doing well, desperately trying to sit up on her own, giggling, blowing raspberries and generally captivating me and her Daddy every minute of the day.

I’m busting with excitement and I can’t tell anyone else – I had two of my best friends over for afternoon tea today. I baked up a storm, gingerbread and parmesan and onion scones (what can I say Kaz, you inspired me!), AAAAAAND… one of them is six weeks pregnant! :happydance: Due the day before Amelia’s first b’day!!! I’m so happy for her, she told me right before Millie was born that she and her husband had officially started trying :) Wheeeeee! Early days yet and not all her family know yet, so don’t tell anyone please :shhh: I have loaned her my copy of “what to expect…” and strongly recommended that she join bellybelly!

EJ - I've never used a cot sheet to wrap before. I'm worried it'll be too hot for him. Thankfully last night he stayed in his wrap. I spent a little extra time wrapping him. It didn't help him sleep till longer this morning though

Well as I mentioned to EJ, Eden stayed in his wrap last night. I just spent a little extra time wrapping him making sue it was tight & his arms started in the right position. He still woke at 4.20am though. He wouldn't take his last feed last night. I spend an hour trying to feed him and he would take the breast in the mouth but not suck. It was so frustrating. I though he would wake around 1am. Oh well. I decided to not bother going back to bed as I'll feed him again at 8am so I can take DS1 to dancing.

MIL is coming today & DH is off work this week... Yay! But I will be busy with work.

Massive weekend!! Been some "family issues" on my side, so DP and I (and Hannah) decided to spend the weekend in Horsham (120km away) just to relax. It was really good, we even went down to Ararat to look at J Ward, the old lunatic asylum there. Pretty cool, but was hoping for more information.... Anyway...

Hannah's doing really good at the moment. Off to the chemist today to weigh her, fingers crossed she's made it to 4kg. That would make my day!!
Having a bit of a clothes dilemma at the moment. Too big for most 0000, too small for 000. So today she's wearing 0000 pants, and a 000 jumper. Jumper is massive, but its all I have!! Got heaps of summer clothes, but its FREEZIN!!! :-)

She's being such a chatterbox! I thought she was talking heaps, but she's talking more and more. Its amazing! She's not up to rolling or anything yet. Lately she doesn't want to be on the floor, or on her belly. She just wants to sit on your knee and have a chat. Very cute, but got an appt with physio soon so I want her to look good! Need to work on holding that head up!!

I'd love to get one of those ergo-cocoons / zip me up bags. Has anyone got one?? Its like a sleeping bag, without arms.
Hannah is an expert of getting her arms out, and then she punches herself in the face and wakes herself up (lol). If she doesn't get her arms out, she'll sleep from 10pm to 7am. Which is soo amazing.

MadB - :lol: about your little boot scooter!!! I have one of those!!! I have one of those roll things to put him in between to keep him from rolling in his cot but he manages to kick it down one end of the cot and he goes up the other...all while he is wearing his wrap me up!! Did you end up getting an earlier night or did the tv win? :) I hope the hammock starts working a little better for you.

Georgi - Hmmm, sounds like a tricky one there, I hope it passes soon. Hope you have some time to relax while your MIL and DH are both around to help.

EJ - Everyone that sees Jacob in his wrap comments but they seem to be positive about it, they say he looks really comfy and what a great idea....one of my brothers always jokes about him looking like a little eskimo :lol: How's Harper? Did you go back to her normal dose? I am soooooo sick of giving Jacob zantac, are you feeling the same? Have you heard anything about how long it can stay around for? I'm hoping they grow out of it soon...Argh, day sleeps.....don't even get me started!! I'm currently rocking Jacob in the pram as he just refuses to sleep today...

PP - I can't wait to see the pics from Friday!!! Sorry your ergo fitting session didn't go to plan!! I hope you have better luck next time you try, I've heard they are fantastic. Tried on the MCN yesteray and I think it may be a little small for him. But going to wait until he's done his massive explosive poo I'm sure is on it's way today before I try it again. lately they've been big enough to escape even the best fitted disposable nappy! I love the pic of Millie at the footy!!! She's so gorgeous. You and your DH look so happy too, such a beautiful family :)

Charlotte - How lovely that you had a nice time away as a family, sounds like you needed the break! Good luck with weighing Hannah today, let us know how she goes!! Fingers crossed for 4kgs :) I hate those "in between size" stages! I'm sure she'll be fitting into 000 properly soon, and before you know it you'll be cracking out the 00 :) I got given one of those cocoon bags when I had Jacob but he hated it....he hated having his hands trapped. I also tried the swaddle me but he didn't like them either. Thanks to PP and MadB I finally gave the wrap me ups a go and it's been a total winner!! The problem I had with him was he always woke himself up with his hands cause he's always wriggling around but he likes his hands near his face. The wrap me up lets him have his hands up but he doesn't wake himself up and can't scratch himself. Every baby is different though so you may find the ergo bag works for you and little Hannah.

We're doing ok - as I told EJ I'm having a bit of trouble with his day sleeps - he constantly yawns but just won't give in. He will go down for a little while but then thinks it's time to get up again :wall: I'm just feeling really tired at the moment...I'm hoping to have a few good nights coming up once this growth spurt is over... Other news, we have booked Jacob's christening for the 22nd May - it took so long to figure out a date that suited DH's roster and my brothers roster. One of my brothers and my SIL are going to be his godparents, they are very excited. My SIL is due to have her second baby on the 5th July so we didn't want to leave it too close to her due date!!

It's a nice overcast drizzly day here and DH and I are watching a movie while I rock baby J in his pram :) Talk soon xoxo

Georgi i only use 100% cotton sheets to wrap her in so they're pretty breathable. I can't remember where you are but it's not all that warm here anymore so the sheet is quite comfy for her.

PP i hope you're able to post a few of the photos i'd love to see them. So she's a footy fan already?? She was so cute in her outfit. How exciting for your friend!! I also have a really special friend in the US who has just told me she is pregnant, so very exciting.

Hi Charlotte, it must have been the weekend for family drama, we had a bit of that also :rolleyes: So how was the weigh? Did she hit the 4kg mark? Sounds like she's getting more enthusiastic with her interation, it's so much fun isn't it? No rolling here either although i had a friend visit the other day and her little one who is a week older than harper was quite regularly rolling :o

Jules (very sheepishly) i have to say Harper is just waking from a 3 hour sleep. Sorry ;) It might have to do with the fact that she was out partying with me on Saturday night and although she slept wasn't in her own bed until 3am. It's a bit of a long story... Hope Jacob settles soon for you :)

So Harper has just woken from a great sleep, she also had one yesterday in the sheet, the sleeping bag was in the wash so i had to use the sheet again. I don't want to confuse her, i'd really prefer the sleeping bag so we'll see what happens. As i was saying to Jules we went out on sat night, we were just around the corner from our house and the plan was to leave harper at home but she wouldn't settle (must have known) and i was alreay late so i just took her with me. She slept in the pram in the middle of the kitchen with noise all around her. She was such a good girl. She woke about 1am for a feed and then there were a few family dramas that begun and then i think i was finally able to get out of there about 2:30ish, i had to drive MIL home and then finally got the two of us into bed. I would have had her sleep with me (kind of lookig forward to it) but she wouldn't settle and as soon as i put her in her cot she was out to it :( Then yesterday i put her down for a sleep and took the boys to a local primary school fate, expecting to hear from DH about an hour after i left to say she was up but nope, she didn't wake until after we got home a few hours later. The boys had some rides and Aidan climbed this huge blow up rock climbing wall (with a little help). I'll have to put the photos on fb :D

So so SO excited!!! 4.2kg!! Unbelieveable excitement! Thats about 320grams in 2 weeks. Not too bad for Hannah!
She's sleeping at the moment, or was I should say. She fell asleep in my arms so I let her stay for about 20mins and I've put her to bed and she's making alot of noise.

Jules-- I reckons Hannah would be good with a cocoon. She falls to sleep instantly if you wrap her up tight. Not sure why she loves it so much. When she was in Royal Childrens they never wrapped her. Never even covered her with a blanket. It was kind of weird.
Bendigo wrapped her up tight and she slept alot better there.
Better go get something sorted for tea I guess. DP wants stir-fry, but I just made a massive salad so everything he would have used is now all chopped up in the fridge. So I guess we'll have to go to the shops when he gets home.

Sounds like Harper is doing well with her sleeps EJ. Lol at Barper.

Miri is a bit more coordinate now so has stopped punchign herself in the face quite as much :lol: It's kinda funny to watch though. Her little 'flippers' are always soaking wet when she's in the wrap me up.

How big is he Jules? With the ergo they need to be big enough to wrap their legs round you're belly (well, kind of). Miri is just big enough, but she's big for her age too.
Sometimes they need to try new carriers a few times to like them, so it's worth trying again Pixie. There's also the pikolo I've heard reommended. It's similar but you can use it for smaller babies without a special insert as there's a drawstring to make the part their but sits in smaller (does that make sense?). If I we have another I'll buy one :rofl: Becuase you can never have too many really

Miri actually had an 80 minute sleep in the ergo at the ABA meeting this morning. She's done that a few times recently - i think I might just have to settle for the ocasional decent sleep amid the micro naps.

EJ - :lol: I don't mind!! I'm so glad she slept for you!!! That's awesome news. I hope she keeps up the great work. :) Gotta love family dramas. We get plenty of that from my in laws. Harper Barper, how cuuute!! Oh and I forgot to tell you, I loved the latest pics of Harper, she has the most beautiful eyes! And looks very proud of herself there on her tummy :) Glad to hear you had a great time with the boys, I look forward to the photos of your little rock climber :)

Charlotte - It's worth giving it a shot, it's so good when you finally find what wrap works best for bub! Jacob was the same, when he was in hospital we had to wrap him soooo tightly, and then when we got home. MadB - That's great that the ergo is so good for Miri to sleep in. Jacob isn't keen on sleeping in his sling any more. I put him in and he just pushes back off me to look around everywhere :lol: he's such a sticky beak. So if I fail to get him down in his cot, it's back to rocking him in the pram. Anything to avoid an overtired little man.

Oh I've been meaning to ask. Does anyone give their bubs cooled boiled water to drink? I have heard that you don't need to - especially with breastfed babies but all my friends seem to be doing it and wondered what you girls do.

well my holiday is over, the car is packed - just need to put in the cold and hot stuff in the morning, along with various mammals and we're returning to Melbourne. I'm going to miss Brissie - although I do have a selection of photos taken while BFing along the way! Hoping I don't get too teary tomorrow morning - I'm usually pretty bad, I think I'll be worse tomorrow though. Not looking forward to returning to work, I've already had a couple of anxiety attacks at the thought of it.

I don't know what's happening with Will, he's been really unsettled today - had a 1:30am feed, a 6:30, 8:30, 10:30, 1:30, 4:30 and 6pm feeds. Totally unlike him, I'd love to know what's wrong?

Glad to hear you had a nice holiday, hope tomorrow isn't too hard on you. Try not to think about work yet, face it when you get there. Just enjoy the time you have left with your beautiful boys :) I am obviously no expert but going off what my health nurse said they are around the age of a growth spurt. Jacob is feeding a lot more frequently the last week or so and apparantly it lasts two weeks while he increases milk supply etc. Maybe it's something like that? Or......could just be the time away from home? Jacob got really unsettled after my last trip away, it took him a few days at home to settle back in a bit. Either way, I'm sure he'll be back to himself soon. Safe travelling. xo

If only we didnt' need money... I'm not sure how long i'll last out of work, the idea is a few years as i'm now home with 3 younguns but since christmas with birthday, bills, mothers staying so 6 mouths to feed i'm barely making it pay to pay.

I've been meaning to ask also... Is anyone else's bub's loosing hair already? Harper is balding a littler earlier than i remember Charlie doing (can't remember Aidan). She also has little ratty bits at the back of her head that i have to keep cutting off.

It's kind of sad but maybe this means the girly hair will begin and soon we'll have pig tails :) I hope the curls grow back with the new hair :pray:

Hannah is starting to thin out a bit on top. I've just noticed it. But she has LOADS of hair, too. Born at 34w with a mop of hair. We joke that if she'd gone fullterm she would have come out with dreadlocks!!!

Gorgeous Charlotte :) Wow she may have been able to have pig tails at fullterm LOL!! Harper's is still a little bit think on top but the sides have all dissapeared :(

EJ - Charlie boy has lost all his hair around the sides, He looks like a little old man very cute. With the twins Hana has straight hair and little Sam has curls all around. People come up to me and say Gee you had them very close together :shakehead:

Well she's had a few sleeps in there and actually fell asleep in it thismorning (as oppsed to me having to get her to sleep first), but still only 40 minutes... oh well, just had to feed her for 1.5 hours to get her to go to sleep...

Morning guys. Hannah's sleeping so well at the moment. She goes to bed about 10pm and wakes at 6.30-7ish. So good, but I'm still exhausted after looking after her during the day.
Think I need a blood test to make sure I'm OK. Might be anemic yet again. That'll be about the 4th time in a couple of years.

Hannah is hilarious. She's becoming more and more of a chatterbox. She finds the littlest things hilarious. All you have to do is stick your tongue in and out and she's got massive smiles and is yabbering away, she's very close to laughing. Then she sticks her tongue out, omg its so cute. :-)

Hmmm, cool again today. Thank goodness I've got a load of wood. May have to light the fire one day soon. I hate the cold. Where was my summer!?

MadB - They where dressed in Pink and blue. I would look at kevin and shake my head. :lol:

Today do some washing, picnic with kids for lunch and I may do some housework :lol:
Good old sam is starting to wet his pants again I just don't know what to do with him I'm soooo urrg with him.

ahhh Cathie, I hear you on the wetting pants - Pip went through 3 pairs of trousers all at breakfast yesterday!!! And we were at Maccas so couldn't leave him in just jocks!!

Well ladies, we're home - got in around 11pm last night. Didn't cry too much leaving cause DH had me driving to take my mind off it all I think. But still teary. Will slept a lot while driving, thankfully. We got him out a few times on the way and just lay him down on the ground to stretch out which I think worked better for him than just cuddling him while on breaks? He's asleep in my bed at the moment, woke at 5am and then 9am for feeds, which were lovely. Can't believe that we've gone from having the aircon on for him, to having the wood heater going!!!! Just lazing around in my PJ's and dressing gown at the moment, Pip jumped onto me and somehow spread my hips again - oh the agony!

Charlotte - that's great news! Will's starting to loose a bit of hair, strangely at the front though - there's a pile of cradle cap missing there, and I suspect Pip pulled off the cradle cap and took the hair with it! But he stlll has his sideburns ... my little handsome man.

Carriers - Mayaness has ergos - the organic and the normal ones, the organic is just so soft!!!! You can actually feel the difference! At the moment I'm still using the meitai with him in a kangaroo carry, ITMS? Saving for the Ergo still :) EJ & other melbourne ladies - if you want to try different MCN styles, you're more than welcome to come round and go through my MCN stash to try diff styles / sizes on.

OK, guess it's time to get Pip dressed (now he's out of his dog suit!) and myself too.

Charlotte, CONGRATS on passing the 4kg mark! Well done to you and your little one! The clothing is a dilemma at the moment isn’t it? Sydney has been low 20s but occasionally really humid so dressing self has been hard enough, much less Millie! We use the love me baby wrap me up, and have done since she was about 3 weeks old. Have just ordered her large ones… she’ll be in the medium for a bit longer yet :)

Jules I’m so pleased you got a Christening date booked! It’s tricky fitting in with everyone else’s timetable isn’t it?

EJ, I love a good school fete. My niece and nephew’s school always does a great one in September, I’m looking forward to taking Millie along this year :) Millie’s sheet was covered with fuzzy baby hair about a month ago, now she seems to be getting more hair – mostly back and sides, like a monk :) It’s not too noticeable til she’s in the bath and then it waves around like mermaid hair :)

MadB, hee hee for the wet flippers. I love walking up to the door of Millie’s room as she’s waking up and seeing her little flippers wave about :) With the ergo, should I start her off on my hip? I think she’s too big for the infant insert but she seemed a bit upset about being splayed across my belly.

Cathie and Kaz, hope the wet pants don’t continue… too darn cold for wet dacks! Kaz, glad you got home safely.

So, we’ve had a good week thus far. I took Millie in to school yesterday and she coped really well, even with hoardes of teenagers coming up and peeking into the pram! She’s such a diva, she loved the attention. I went in to see my head teacher and deputy, as they have some “ideas” about my return to work. I’m only going back 3 days per week from 3rd term, but they want me to jobshare with my head teacher. Long story, but basically she has been seconded to other projects but has maintained her head teacher role, and the double workload is starting to do her head in. Noone in the faculty has HT experience other than me. Hm. More money, but certainly more stress… it will have to go to interview, they’ll advertise next term so I have a bit of time to think about it.
