Danielle, have you got a cot mobile? The MCHN suggested I moved it from over the cot to over the change table instead. It's a 'Winnie the Pooh' musical mobile so it's a bit overstimulating with all of the colours when I'm trying to get her to sleep; but fantastic when over the change table to distract her when I'm changing her nappy or clothes.
Well ladies, it looks like DH will be looking for another job. He'll find out tomorrow if they'll give him the pay rise but his boss was playing the whole 'poor financial situation of the company' card. I guess I'm gonna be helping him find a new job - in fact he's even looking into joining the police force atm.
Have a fantastic night ladies! :)
-
Hey Bec,
YES, the mobile is gone... he looks at everyhting so his cot is baron, nothing as far as the eye can see.....
When I was in Hospital getting the whole sleep thing under control they told me to wrap him in a cot sheet, that is working a treat.. He kept getting out of his cotton wrap. I also put his blue dog that he plays with beside him (was a litlle worried about sids, but now I am cool with it cause he will move his face away if he can't breath, I made sure)
Now when he goes to bed I wrap him put him in beside his Mr Blue and put his dummy in and walk away, This method has only failed once since Monday.. I am one happy Mummy:)
After 4 months of rocking and patting every hour through the night I am wrapped.
It was good to learn how to do this in a controlled enviroment like the hospital I recommend it to anyone out there having sleeping issue.

Beck yay for your brothers! I used to be a CAD designer! I loved doing that, but my new carreer as mom took over! Maybe some day I will go back! The thing is I will probably have to go back to school seeing as how software changes so often! I hope they give your DH a raise! Looking for a new job is no fun!
Dani, nice to have you back! Abby tries to look over and turn half way while getting her nappie changed. I just make lots of noises and talk to her so she will look at me instead!
Melly, let me know how Logan does in swim class! What did they do? I am having Abby in swim class in a couple of weeks also and I would like to know what to look forward to! :)
Rach I also heard it was important to give a bottle or breast within an hour of solids, but I think it is just because solids make them a bit thirsty. Not sure! I give Abby her solids, only once a day at this point, at 10:30am and her milk at 11:00. She usually only takes 60 ml at that feed and I wont force more. she then goes another 3 hours before wanting fed again! :)
Meg glad you liked the video! It was pathetic, wasnt it! :cryinglaugh:
If anyone else wants to see it, private post me your email and I will send it to you! My poor Abby did not like her cereal that day!
I hope you all have a nice day! Abby just does not want to go down for her morning nap! I better go! :hello:
-
Rach, I give Coco water after a feed, just to get the food down. Mind you as of today Im cutting out one of her solid feeds, we're just going to hvae one at breakfast. She did her worst night ever and was up from 2am (had half an hour since). I think she needed to poo, so Im cutting out the night solids for now.
Dani, good on you for doing the sleep school thing. If Coco has not improved by 6 months, i will be booking in for sure, I can't handle this no sleep for much longer.
Hope everyone has a good day xoxo
-
Man I cant wait for these teeth to cut through! I cant even feel bumps, but Abby bites on everything and is cranky when doing so! Any suggestions on how to ease her pain?
-
Sarajo.....try cold things for her to chomp down on. Maddy's been having a squeal this morning over her so far non-appearing teeth. HTHs. :)
-
the teething just goes on FOREVER. It'sbeen 3 weeks that I think Coco's been teething, but still nothing. We swear by bonjela (Sarajo, it's a gel that numbs their gums, i use it often). Im so confused now as to whether her teeth upset her or her tummy, or both!! Very confusing.
Feeling very guilty, sent tilly off to tennis again with no raincoat or umbrella and it's raining. I just hope he took them to school early and they've missed the rain. Poor child.
Trying to get coco to sleep after her shocker night. I just fed her and she wouldn't have a bar of apple or pear, HATES them both! So she had pumpkin and sweet potato for breakky!! If she keeps that up I'll be happy, especially since tilly hates vegies!!!
have a good day xoxo
-
Hey Sarajo,
Teething is arrrhh!!!
I have tried face washes put in the freezer, they are nice and cold and eay for them to hold..
When I was at the hospital they put bread crusts in the freezer which worked really well.
I give Jett soft toys and teething rusks..
I have also got a thing called a gummy dummy not sure if you can buy them oversea's if you can't let me know and I can post one over for you. It is funny when they use it for the first time cause they suck on it instead of chewing..
Betta go Jett is in there chatting away to himself, think he wants to get up it is 9:45am about time he got up..
-
Hmmm...I wonder whether teething rusks are ok for a baby who isnt on solids yet?
-
Thanks for the suggestions! I have a teether with a mesh bag attached, and I just put an ice cube in it and Abby LOVED it! You can put frozen food in it too, it that a teething rusk? I think I will try the face washers next! Do you get them nice and wet first?
-
Hi everyone!!
Just quickly for now, on the way out but I started Jasmine on rice cereal yesterday. I was going to start on my birthday in a few weeks but I noticed she stopped 'pushing' and so I tried it. It went very well. I wasnt exactly sure how much she was supposed to eat but she had a little bit (pulled some funny faces) and then drank 3/4 of her bottle afterwards. Is this right? Is there like a set amount theyre supposed to have?
Since I gave her solids in the afternoon I also gave her a teething rusk around 6pm (thats when she gets to be a bit antsy) and she went totally nuts over that. I think mainly because she could hold it herself, but omg I definitely wont be leaving the room while she has them lol I think she was trying to see how far she could get it down at one stage! The box says 6 months, is it ok now or should I have not given it to her? Her teeth didnt break through it, they sort of just scraped parts of the rusk off IYKWIM?
Hope everyone is well
I will be back later on and not be so rude!
-
He girls,
just a quick one, if Jett has chucked up a whole feed would you give it to him again, the hospital said no cause he did the same thin while he was in there but I am feeling that he would be still hungry so I am not sure, any advice would be great??
-
RIGHT THAT’S IT GUYS I AM NOT USING WORD ANYMORE!!
I caught up with all of you, I was very proud of my long post!!
So now tis will be a very quick one!!
Meg thankyou so very much for all your advice on solids.
Danielle Welcome!!
Mel You sound so busy, go for it girl!!
Beck will be thinking of your hubby hope he gets that pay rise!
Sarajo hope you are doing ok?
Gotta run Hannah judtwoke up
-
WOW,
I have been reading all of the old post and Jett is way behind, I tried on solids but my MCHN pushed and really made it clear to wait until 6 months..
The reason that I started was because of the sleeping issues we had, I thought soilds might fix it... (It didn't)
Now that I hear all of U ladies are having no troubles I might try it again..
Should I start on dinner or breaky that is the question..
No books ever help you with how to start solids?? what order how to drop a feed...
Do you think juice is okay to try in a cup, he loves sweet stuff, did try with water last night but he was keen, any idea's,
Anyway betta go I have a christening/6ht & 2nd birthday to go to on mother's day and also my best friends 25th birthday, she was there when Jett was about to enter this world but couldn't come as I had an emergancy C-section...:(
She is now going to have a baby of her own, I am so wrapped for her and her DH..
I have to go and get all of the presents today...
I will be eating baked beans for the next week....:cryinglaugh:
-
Hi Danielle just quickly I really wanted to wait unit 6 months but i really believe that Hannah is ready. There is no set rule in regards to when you should start solids(what meal) Its when it bests suits you! Dont take my word for it, juice is not encouraged at this stage, way to much sugar..
Gotta erun sitting here in a towel..
Talk later!!
-
Dani, I wouldn't say Coco's doing "well" on solids (she loves it, but I am sure it keeps her awake). Anyway, you start when you think jett is ready. I would not give juice (except prune juice with nothing added if clogged up), you could offer cooled boiled water in a cup.
Go Jasmine!! I started out with about 1-2 teaspoons of the rice cereal powder. i did that for a week then started adding one vegie at a time.
gotta go, i am a walking zombie today!! I went to the shops to get a mothers day pres for mum and MIL and ended up getting a beautiful cardigan for Coco from pumpkin patch! Whoops, no pressys for the mums. But up until now the only things i"ve bought coco are Big W wondersuits. The poor child is the biggest dag at mums group!!
TAking tilly to doc this arvo, she has an awful rash on her leg that I thought was exzema but has turned worse. Hopefully easy to fix
loxox
-
Just another OMG with regards to sleep. We have been out and about with my Mother today at the shops so instead of her 1-3hrs sleep from 11am, Maddy probably napped for 20mins in her stroller while we were at the Coffee Club.
She's been irritable since we got home and rubbing her eyes, didn't want to sit still or play with toys; so I thought I'd try my luck with giving her some naptime in her cot.
Just put her in 5mins ago, didn't hear a peep and just tip-toed in to find her fast asleep. YAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!! :) Probably won't last long, but she's been fighting me lately if I try to put her down for a nap in the afternoon if she's missed her morning/lunch nap.
-
Hello Ladies,
Thanks for the advice Jett is awake now so I am going to try the soilds thin tonight... wish me luck:pray:
Went to town to do some shopping and he totally missed his nap, I put him down when I got home but he has only had an hour,
anyway betta get him
It is yum yum time....
-
Sarajo, The swimming went well. I had to do things like walk backwards with his head resting on my shoulder, and move his legs, saying "Kick" over and over LOL to get him to match the motion with the word and also do it for "paddle". I had to sing songs and move him around in the water. The instructor also tips a small bucket of water over their heads, she mostly tipped it down Logans back since he's not very used to it, she told me some words to say as a cue so that hopefully he'll learn to hold his breath when I say "Logan, Ready.. 1.. 2.. Go!" so I have to practice with him in the bath. Maybe in a few weeks he will be able put his head under water, but we'll see.. There were a few toddlers and one other baby 7months, apparently they all started swim classes at his age and sometimes younger.
I think he liked the toys the best though heh. He cried when he got out, I think it was just shock from being in the heated pool for so long.
Rach, thank you.. The only problem with having so many things each week is that we're out most mornings and don't get home until the afternoon or evening so Logan and I have been having naps when we get home in the afternoons but then I can't put him to bed until about 7:30pm. I just feel a bit bad about it, but I think he gets more naps in his pram than he does when I try to get him to sleep during the day at home.
-
Hey Mel, the swimming sounds so cool. I plan on starting when Hannah hits 6 months, our local pool has classes so I plan on doing them with my mothers group. Hannah is not a day sleeper, I find that when we are out and about she tends to nap in her pram.
Danielle good luck with staring the solids..Let us know how you go!!!!
Looks like we are in for a nightmare ofa night
-
Hi,
Solids went well he gobbled them up, it was just a heinz on that I had.
He is now in bed catching zzzzzz.
I am ejoying a homemade pizza and beer. I am not sure if I have told you all but my hubby works arvo shift which means the lovely man leaves me home every night with Jett, arrrhhhh!!!
He leaves for work at 3:00pm and gets home at 1:00am it is hard sometimes, but I am used to it now..
Does anyone else have the same situation???
-
Hey Dani! Good job Jett on the solids! I would recommend when you start the veggies and fruit, do it early in the day so that if he has an allergic reaction you will notice it durring the day! My sister's hubby has that shift, and it is hard on them too! Especially now that Eddie sleeps through the night, his dad barely ever sees him awake!
Mel the swimming class sounds great! I have been splashing Abby in the face at bathtimes since she was born and I dunked her under water last time we went to the pool and she was fine with it! I love the kick kick kick idea! How do you get them to paddle?
Rach I hope Hannah sleeps well for you tonight!
Yay Beck on Maddy's nap! Sounds like she was just exhausted!
Meg I hope Tilly's rash clears up!
You all have a good night! :)
-
Sarajo, I had to hold him under his arms, to my side so I could see his face, to make sure I wasn't putting him under lol.. and then I moved his arms in a kind of dog paddle motion IYKWIM.
gotta run logans upset
-
Hmmm, I can't imagine... that must have been a bit hard! I'll have to try it with Abby! :)
-
You're all so good with the swimming, Im a lazy mum!! I try to wet her face and head in the bath though.
We got oral antibiotics fo rTilly's rash. Was very worried at one stage when one
Dr told me she wanted blood tests to rule out meningitis. So I had major panic and booked into my usual Dr for second opinion. I only went to the first Dr coz it's bulk billed and I didn't think it was a big deal. anyway, next Doc gave medicine and I think it looks slightly better this morning.
Had a reasonable night (compared to last few), she slept 7pm-2am then fed and talked till about 3.30am and then sleep until 6am. Not great, but better than night before. Just wish she'd go back to good sleeps!! I think cutting out night solids helped, but still no poo...we're waiting!
have a great weekend. We have a wedding today and the girls are staying with MIL, then we're going back there to stay the night. Not really looking forward to the whole thing (wedding should be lovely) but have to pack so much for one night!!
then tomorrow we're having picnic with the wedding couple (morning tea) and then lunch at Tims aunts, so i won't be on for a while. sure I'll be back this morn though, won't be going until lunch time
xoxoxo
-
Good morning!! Ah thankgod Hannah slept so much better!! Feed at 8.00 woke at 12.00 (for a feed) and then back to sleep until 7.30!!!
Meg,hope Coco was good to you lastnight??
Dani good to hear that Jett loved the solids!!
Sarajo hope you are doing well!
Beck hope maddy Slept well!
Gotta run
XXXXXXXXXXXX
-
Yay for the better sleeps!
Abby wouldnt sleep today, she was up for 5 hours straight! She kept rolling over and doing tummy time instead of sleeping. Now she is out and it is time for her medicine. I think I am going to let her sleep for awhile!
She ate so many carrots today and then pooped and it looked like some of it came straight from the jar! lol! Weird!
So lets have a vote on what she will try tomorrow! Her choices are:
green beans
peas
sweet potatoes
pears
apples
bananas
What do ya think?
-
Sarajo my vote is Sweet potatoes!!! XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
-
I say sweet potato too because that's Coco's favourite!!
Coco hasn't pooped for 2 days....waiting waiting!
Rach, we had a slightly better night but not great. She was awake in the middle of the night for about 45 minutes, and feeding for another 45 (all in a row ) and then back to sleep,, so that's ok, but not like it used to be! My mother in law has her tonight, so I hope she sleeps for her. I also cut out her night feed (solid) and she had her whole bottle plus breastfeed, so she wasnt' hungry. I just wanted her tummy to settle. Will do the same again today.
Also my MIL brought this routine around (her friends granddaughter did a sleep school thing, but it was based on daily activities not crying). Anyway, the routine is great once their on 3 solid meals a day, so I'll have to write it up (if Im allowed) otherwise will email it. It says that after waking and feeding, they need active play, where they do YOGA, and sitting, rolling etc (but we roll them) anyway, it really tires them out. I feel bad because I let Coco do her own thing most of the time!! But we have started "exercises" as of yesterday. Not sure on yoga moves yet, will have to call the hospital that did the routine!! Im also going to book in for a stayif she isnt' sleeping by 6 months.
xoxo
-
Oh boy MEG, when she does poop, that is going to be one full diaper! lol!
Sweet potatoes wins! Yay I cant wait!
Last night I left Abby with a neighbor to go to the store for less than an hour and she screamed the entire time, then I got back and she was happy and then I was headed to another neighbors and so she took abby over 10 min before I went and As soon as they got in the door it started again! separation enxiety already?????????? I HOPE NOT! I really need to start taking her to other peoples houses so she can get used to it a bit!
-
Hey ladies....HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!! :)
Hope you all have a lovely day....am thoroughly enjoying being spoilt. I got ham & cheese mini croissants, honey dew melon & a coffee in bed this morning. Plus, Maddy helped her Daddy sign my card as well! hehe
Went to a feis (irish dancing competition) yesterday to help out with the scoring tabulation so John took Maddy out to coffee for a couple of hours. It felt SO good when they came to pick me up and Maddy was squealing & grinning so wide because she was so happy to see her Mummy. Makes you feel all gooey and loved inside! *LMAO*
Anyway, off to put Maddy down for a nap before we go to my sister's for Mother's Day lunch.
-
Hi lovely ladies.... Happy Mothers Day
Just popped in to say poor Danni was rushed to hospital last night and had surgery to remove her appendix, she is currently recovering in the childrens ward whch is a little ironic being in her 20's and spending the last week there with Jett.
Sweet Potatoe and Brocolli was a fav all round in this house for so long
Bec
-
Oh no! Thanks Bec for letting us know. Please tell Danni that I hope she gets well soon! How awful. Poor thing. Not a Happy Mothers Day for her! I wish her a very speedy recovery.
Hope everyone is getting spoilt today! Happy Mothers Day everyone! So far Im having a great day. Mind you I went out last night (mum babysat) and I didnt get into bed until 5am. Im so old LOL I was falling asleep in the car and from about 1am I was complaining how I wanted to go home ! Still it was fun to see everyone and to get out of the house for a night, I dont think I will be doing it again soon though. This morning I got woken up with the X at the door with a Mothers Day gift, and then my 2 best friends came over with Mothers Day gifts (all "from" Jasmine) and soon Im off to dinner at my mums for more Mothers Day gifts. I think everyone assumed I would be forgotten so they all decided to take care of it. LOL!I cant believe Im celebrating Mothers Day. How exciting:dance: !
Ok best wishes to you all. Hope you are all well. Happy Mothers Day
:heartbeat:
-
*L* That sounds like a great day planned Kate! :) Hope you enjoy what remains of Mother's Day.
Thanks for letting us know about Dani, Bec! Please pass on our 'get well's to her if you speak to her soon!
-
Oh poor Danni! I hope she gets well soon.
Happy Mother's Day everyone!
One of my brothers, his gf and my nephew, Jake, came by today to give Mum her Mother's Day present. Jake ran in and gave me a box of chocolates and a kiss.. then ran off with the chocolates LOL. They took Mum grocery shopping so she bought me some chocolate milk for Mother's day :)
I have spent most of today trying to get Logan to sleep. He's got a cold the poor little guy and hasn't been sleeping well. Oh, he has been saying "Mum" for the last week, so this morning when I woke up he greeted me with "Mmmmummm" :)
-
Hi guys,
Happy Mothers Day. Sarajo, when do you have mothers day?
Dani, really hope you get well soon you poor thing. not fun.
H ope everyone had a great day. KAte, i hear you on the late night. We went to the wedding and at 10pm I started falling asleep. Got home at midnight and am suffering so badly. I have the worst hayfever ever from smelling the beautiful flowers, and Im just so tired.
better go and feed Coco. Poor possum still hasn't pooed and IM sure it's keeping her awake. Honestly we go from 10 a day to nothing..ggrr
talk to everyone tomorrow xoxo
-
:confetti::happybirthday: Happy Birthday Clare! :confetti::happybirthday:
I just remembered it was your birthday today and I hope you had a wonderful birthday and a great mothers day all wrapped up in one!
-
Thanks for reminding us Kate!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLARE! :) Hope you had a truly fabulous double-day celebrating your birthday and motherhood!
Nothing exciting happening here....Maddy is having a party in her cot right now but I'm determined for her to sleep as she refuses to have her daytime nap during the weekend when Daddy is home. I'm off to do another 10kms on my exercise bike while the washing is on and then it's time for a sandwich for lunch.
Hope you're all having a fabulous day...looks like the payrise is a no-go for DH (his bosses are SO stupid...it's gonna cost them more than $10,000 to make up for John when he is gone) so I'm gonna have to help him look for a job. Secretly I'm actually happy because I feel like his opportunities were going nowhere with that company. They're sucking the life and commitment to his work out of him for no renumeration.
-
Hello Ladies, I am back.. Got out of hospital this morning. Happy Mother's Day to you all hope you have a grreat day, by the sounds of it everyone had a fantastic weekend.
After having my yummy pizza and beer of Friday night I didn't feel very well and thought it was that making me feel sick. Then at about 7am saturday morning I had these pains that were like labour pains and so I drove myself to the hospital(DH thought I had intergestion, OMG!!!) Then at about 4pm they wheeled me to surgery to have my appendix removed.
All my DH Ben could do was laugh which wasn't making me very happy as I was in serious pain...
So now I can't lift Jett for 2 weeks or drive so Ben is off work for the first week(If I don't go insaine before then), then my mum is going to have the second week off, pain in the butt...
Talk to you all soon
-
Hey Ladies, about the no POO thing, if you put a teaspoon of Brown sugar in and expressed/formula bottle I will bet my life you will see a poo that very same day, it was a little trick that the children's hospital taught me with Jett, It is harmful to them but it just loosens the bowel.
Try it!!!
