Hi all4lil, welcome to BB join in with what ever is on your mind. We all have our bumps/dramas good and bad. Its good to vent sometimes along with the cheering these special moments, with people who are going thought the same or similiar and can understand when you need to just get something out. Mind you must of the time it is a cheer squad.
Every morning I check for teeth although I am sure I will feel it with her first feed LOL.
I have taken Charly to Storytime at the library the last couple of Fridays, she enjoys it but I think I enjoy it more at the moment so many toddlers around. Today she was facsinated with the guy next to us and kept reaching out and touching him on the shoulder. He was very good about it and would talk to her and then she would be touching his face
Need to make sure she is buckled in the pram now as tried to lift herself out today was up on her knees, gave me a fright when I looked at her balancing one bump and she would have been out.
-
Hi all4lil! Welcome to December babies, the more the merrier:D
Feel free to discuss whatever you want as we all try to help each other, give support or just congratulate milestones.
Well I got the paw paw lotion, even the lady at the pharmacy raved about its benefits! First lot goes on after the bottle I'm giving her now. Thankyou so much guys, I never would of known about this stuff otherwise:)
Went out with my Mum today for some retail therapy, Mum (nanna) spoiled Maya. She got a whole lot of toys that she can play with at her house including a swing as she is there at least once or twice a week. Felt good to go out.
-
My aim this week is to try and get Charly to bed/sleep by 7.30 each night. Think we need that time just be a couple. Seem like we hardly see each other as DH is work long hours at the moment, so we are both snappy and grumpy at each other over little things or nothing.
I have given up doing all the house work each day/ week, those day sleep are just not happening at the moment. She was so good at about 3 months (before we down to Adelaide) a 2-3 hour nap in the afternoon.
I brought a ball with a face on it that has 4 balls attached on string, when you touch the face the ball moves along the ground, so Charly can crawl after it. I have had my eye on it for a while, was hoping it would come on special but no such luck have only seen it at one store and it was the last one so had to grab it. Charly loves it. I have never been a shop but now need to stop myself, its all for Charly and so hard to pass up.... if I don't stop I will have to go back to work sooner to pay for it all.
-
Know how you feel Linz, I am not looking forward to going back in October. Just thinking about leaving her all day brings tears to my eyes, even though she will be with Granma. DH as a good job, if we want to get ahead with the mortgage I need to go back. Plus when I fall preg again I think I need to be a work at least 6 months to get paid Maternity Leave. It only 2 days be still tough.
-
Happy 7 Months Laila
Guess I am luck with work they were happy to let me come back on my terms, and if I need to work from home some days that OK.
So far the down by 7.30 is working and can her her starting to wake up now. Did have a few wake up during the night 9, 2.30 and 5.30.
-
Hiya
Haven't had too much to post in the last couple of days. Nappy rash is still stubborn but its not getting worse. Should I be putting sudocrem on top of the paw paw lotion???, because thats what I'm doing.
-
I would just go with the paw paw cream, I don't use sudocrem had a sample and didn't like it but it is zinc based and don't think it would get through the paw paw cream. I use Bepanthen cream, just as a prevention so far.
-
I found another post on here about nappy rash and a lot of people are raving about the paw paw lotion so I'm going to put it on a bit thicker, don't think I was putting enough on.
-
Hi everyone! Welcome to our little group, Benita - always nice to meet someone new :)
Wow, how about Laila's teeth! She must have a beautiful smile, Linz.
Storytime sounds great, Charlysmum, I agree - so many of these fun kids activities are so great for their parents ;) The toy sounds interesting... Sounds like Charly is getting very mobile!!!
Sorry about the nappy rash, Chantal. Natalie has had nappy rash and eczema that is driving me up the wall. It just wont go away. I think the eczema is due to the cold, and the nappy rash, while it is much better now than when she first got it, is sticking around and is so annoying. I tried sudocreme, bepanthen, pawpaw ointment... the doc told me to get some hydrocortisone for both the nappy rash and the eczema, but I've only used it sparingly to stop inflamation - I hear it can thin their skin if you use too much. Anyway, SIL and the doc told me that there is often thrush in nappy rash, so if it is really stubborn, you could talk to your doc or pharmacist about some canesten cream to get rid of it. Other than that, the frequent nappy changes and barrier creams are all we can do to keep them comfy, I guess.
Our long weekend away was great - we stayed in a lighthouse cottage, right on the water - it was just so beautiful. It was cold, but not unbearably so, and it was really relaxing for Natalie and I. Though, her sleep was disgraceful. Fed her just about every two hours overnight, and she sometimes woke more frequently than that to be settled. On a couple of occasions she slept for 3.5 hours in a row, which was refreshing  This morning we both had a brilliant nap, LOL!
She's doing beautifully with the eating - had breakfast and dinner every day while we were away, even though she was drinking so much milk overnight. Maybe a growth spurt... She's a lot of fun, anyway. Chatting so much more now and sitting pretty well on her own. Still nowhere near crawling, though!!
-
Sounds like you had a good trip Amy, except the feeds, sometimes I think Charly wakes a lot because she likes to snuggle at night since its cold.
Charly has been getting on her knees and hands and wobbling back and forward, especially if she can use me as the base ... knees in my lap hands on my shoulders and bum going crazy.LOL
Solids are good if she could have fruit and custard all day she would be happy.
-
Charly slept thru the night from 8.30 to 6.30  would have slept longer, I went in to check on her and she caught me, she would have put herself back to sleep:doh:.
-
Woohoo!!! WTG Charly. LOL about her catching you checking on her... Cheeky girl ;)
-
Well done Charly!!
Hi to everybody!!
Have not read back , as usual, but wanted to pop in & let you all know that Dylan is coming home!!!
-
thats great news Storm!!!
HAPPY 7 MONTHS NATALIE:confetti:(for friday of course)
-
Thats wonderful Storm. I wish you happy family vibes and strength for the weeks ahead:)
Thats great news about Charly! Hope she keeps up a firm routine for you.
Hi Amy, good to see you back and that you had a good little holiday. Sorry to hear about the sleeping though.
Well Mayas little butt is finally looking better, I got the Bepanthen Antiseptic lotion (white tube) Its fantastic, started working almost immediately. She had one blister sore which had broken the skin and that has completely healed!!! I am so wrapped!! I really hated seeing her poor little bum looking so red and sore.
Her crawling is starting to get more adventurous, she has ventured to our bedroom and tried to enter the kitchen so we have to get a little gate for there as I really don't want her on the slate, her poor little knees are getting dry and the skin is starting to 'harden', not sure if thats the right word, the Jurlique cream is working well for that.
Keep well
Chantal
-
Happy 7 months Natalie
Chon - glad the Benpathan worked, sounds like it was getting horrible.
Sleeping through was a one off, but the sleeps are getting longer between. She must of been moving a lot that day.
PC - was just about to post in the other thread and thought I would check here first, very tough place your in right now you are doing a wonderful job. So easy these days to give up at the first major problem. I'm not sure how I would react, diffently 'freak out' and not sure how long that would last, before sanity returned. Think the counselling will help find the underlying problem/reason and ways to resolve things; your marriage will be stronger than ever.:hugs: So much I wish I could put into words, we are all here if you need a shoulder.
-
Brilliant news, Jo, about Dylan. All the best for his return - I imagine it'll be a weird but really wonderful time for you all. And again, great about the re-lactation - you're amazing!
Thanks girls for the birthday wishes LOL. Can't believe the baby of the group is 7 months old already! Which means everyone else is even older!!! Crazy how quickly time flies.
Chantal, glad Maya's rash has cleared up well. Sounds like she is getting very adventurous! We have stacks of stairs in our place, so I'm going to have to buy so many jolly gates!
Linz, I did see your other thread and I really don't know what to say. It seems things are just really awful for you atm. I really do pray that things turn around for you soon, that life gets better. And for you and Tim, I hope that you guys can resolve things somehow... and that however resolution comes, that you will eventually feel at peace with it.
Cool about Laila - I'm sure she'll work out how to get where she wants to go soon!
That's great that Charly is getting sleepier Charlysmum. Must be a relief for you.
Natalie is starting to communicate so much better these days... She is frightened by things (loud noises mostly) and she cries differently when that happens. Also, I can really tell now if she is hurt - there's a different cry for that too. And of course there's the laughing too - she's got a new smile that she uses sometimes and she scrunches up her nose as if to say, 'oh, how cute!' Its just lovely.
-
Wow guys, I've missed alot!
Congrats about Dylan Jo!
Happy 7 months Natalie!
I'm so sorry Linz! I don't know what to say other than
Sounds like Maya's keeping you on your feet there Chantal! Glad her rash is clearing up!
Noah had his 8 month check on Tuesday.
The porker weighed 9.6kg and was 74cm long.
The nurse wants to see us back at 10 months for an additional check as she's concerned that Noah's not moving, so of course now I'm paranoid something's wrong!
I'm supposed to have him doing tummy time for between 1 and 2 hours a day, at the moment it's more like 5-10 minutes! She did say she think he's just stubborn and knows that if he cries I'll just give him what he wants.... I didn't really think 8 months (well 7 1/2 at his check really) was late for not crawling or anything, I think it was more because he doesn't roll either. I tried to explain to her that he CAN roll if he wants to but he's more likely to scream until I pick him up.
I don't think that it helps that my best friends nephew who's 3 weeks younger than Noah is crawling around like a champ and just started pulling himself up on things. I kinda feel like it's my fault for not giving him enough tummy time and always giving him what he wants when he squwaks.... Oh I don't know.
Also doesn't help that he's got a cold at the moment so as soon as I put him on his tummy snot starts running down his face and he's screaming and coughing and choking.
-
Aw Lauren, I can't chastise you as I have felt exactly as you do... "Maybe she will roll if I just don't attend to her so quickly... If I just... If I just..." yada yada.
But anyway, here goes. It's not your fault, matey!!! Noah will move in his own time! For goodness' sake, MCHNs can be melodramatic. And gees, are we really going to leave them on their tummies screaming their little hearts out for 1-2 hours a day? I'd like to see them have the heart to do that!
Natalie only rolls from her tummy to her back - I figure because she hates her tummy, LOL. I have never seen her roll from back to tummy (without my help).
One of the girls at my mum's group said, 'They will all be walking and talking by the time they get to school anyway, so why panic?' LOL, a little relaxed perhaps, but put things into perspective for me :)
-
Cannot believe it for the first time in a very long time Charly is now asleep in her cot during the day, lets hope it for aleast an hour.
Noah is going well, don't worry Charly was the same.
Charly hated tummy time as well, think it was 6 month check up nurse said most of her time should be on her tummy .... Yer right your not there for the crying, so I ignored her. The nurse at the 7 month said give a couple of minutes then put on back as it is very tiring, being on the tummy is hard work for them just increase the time.
This nurse also suggest to get her to roll from tummy to back place on big bed and make a game of you rolling her from one end to the other, just use the legs to roll and her upper body and head will look after themselfs. Charly got the hang of it over a few days and now is doing it all the time and cannot get her off her tummy. Now just waiting for the crawling to start, gets on her hands and knees and wiggles back and forward.
I am sure in the next few months we will all be saying what they have been getting into.
-
8 teeth? Omg Linds, Laila is amazing!! & pulling herself up too, how clever is that little girl of yours???????
-
I cannot believe she has 8 teeth already, and pulling herself up big cheer for Laila.
I think they are going to start finding there voices very soon to let us know what they want. A lady in my mother group said she had her first trantrum the other day saying she couldn't deny it was a trantrum... something to look forward to.
-
Good grief! Laila is on fire with the teething ;)
Yes, Natalie chucks tanties too - the other day she was eating the tag off her cousin's beanie kid toy. I asked my SIL to take it off her, because I know beanie kids are collectors items, and assumed my neice would want the tag intact. Well, when SIL took it away, she arched her back and squealed, then she gave it back and Natalie went straight back to quietly chomping on it! Little bugger!
She has started speaking in sort of sentences... Little gabbles that stretch on for longer than before. Its very cute. Also, during our rolling time on the floor today, EVERY time I rolled her onto her tummy, she rolled herself back over again straight away  This went on for no less than 5 mins, and I tried to keep being playful even though I was getting quite frustrated, and then she got poopy with me, so I stopped. Honestly, this girl is stubborn!
-
Wow, about Laila's teeth!! Poor her though with all that gum breaking...OUCH!:(
I noticed this morning one of Maya's top teeth is breaking through, looks like it would hurt, I think tomorrow she will be feeling it more so I will have the bonjella ready;)
concerning Tantrums......Maya has one if I take something away she is enjoying, I suppose its more of a protest cry though but she will get quite upset if we walk away from her and she wants us back, she will even scream, which is horrible. Its hard to know how to act as we don't want her doing this whenever she wants us. Seriously, parenting is the hardest job on earth! but we love it of course!
-
Maybe I'm in denial about Charly Tantrums ... must of the time she plays happy and we try and pick her up before she gets bored or stuck, not always but hoping she realised crying is not the only time we will pick her up plus we just want to lol. Haven't had any arching of back and screaming yet, .... she does do it if I try and put her to sleep without the boob. Think that is really the only time she makes a big fuss, try not to give in to her because it will only make it tougher her next time I try.
10 teeth WOW Charly still has no teeth, they sure are taking there time considering she had swollen gums at 4 months.
-
Chantal, IKWYM about the separation anxiety cry. You are right, parenting is hard!
Charlysmum, great that Charly is so happy! That's excellent. In regards to sleeping and settling, I find it so hard when Natalie doesn't settle easily. I think for me that's more exhausting than only getting a couple of hours sleep in a row at night... I can cope fine with that if she settles easily and without a fuss. Hoping it improves for you - stay strong :)
-
Awwwww Linds, it's ok huni.
I still haven't caught up with you all, so I am just gonna start from here.
I feel really terrible for only poping in here & there, I feel like I'm doing the wrong thing by Angel, lol, how dumb is that?
Her chest infection is 70% better & the vasso on her bum has stopped any kind of nappy rash from the AB. She has decided that she no longer needs to be cuddled to sleep, which is really a big deal to me I loved my cuddles!!And she is doing great, weighs 9+kgs now & hopefully she can have her 6 month needles next week,
Will pop back in the morning promise
-
Funny, because sometimes I would wish Angel would do that & now she does I don't want her too.
Yep, I'm so relived he is coming home, he's had a hard time lately.
-
Oh I hope so. It's really hard to deal with & whilst I have missed him heaps, it's been more relaxing while he has been away. No worrying what he's up too!!
-
Hi guys
Sorry to hear the hard time your having lately Linz :( and with Laila's teething on top of it all. It is a stressful time for them and we do have to be patient, as the pain they are going through is quite bad for them.
Maya's top tooth is still just poking out, I can only see a little bit of white as the gum is a little swollen around the tooth, it looks so sore. She just amazes me with the way she is handling it. She will have a bright red cheek that is warm to the touch, and be smiling and gabbing away, but she does have her bad times and I try to get the bonjello on it, but she doesnt make that easy:rolleyes: I really feel for her.
Storm, so good to hear things are moving along for you and Angels getting better.:)
-
Yay that Angel is better, Jo. All the best with Dylan. While I haven't experienced anything like it, I do understand what you mean about it having been 'easier' in a way. I really hope you guys can sort things out, and that this life lesson has mellowed him a little...
Linz  so sorry things are crappy for you atm. Hoping you feel better soon - stuff with Laila would be much easier to cope with if you're well, I'm sure...
Chantal, Maya sounds delightful! Imagine having a sore tooth and red face and just chatting away happily! Hope it comes through quickly and she gets it over with.
Still no sign of teeth here. I wonder if she has any, LOL. Natalie doesn't want to be rocked, held or patted to sleep anymore either. It is good sometimes because she will now put herself to sleep during the day and at bedtime, which is *much* nicer than before - she used to cry and cry and cry and I'd be at a loss as to what to do for her. Now, she either grizzles for a minute, or talks a bit, or just sighs and falls asleep.
However. Nighttimes have gotten worse around here, if that's possible! Yesterday she had two lovely day sleeps, so I set myself up by thinking we'd have a good night. (I consider 3-hourly wakings to be a good night now.) Nope. And now because she doesn't want to be cuddled, its booby or nothing. Gees, I hope she grows out of this soon.
-
Oh Amy, things will get better. I know how hard it is from when the big 3 were babies, argh never got a good nights sleep for about 4 years!!! She'll get there.
Poor Maya, Chantal, but yay for her being so happy through it all, Angel often has bright red hot cheeks too! Hope the tooth comes through properly soon.
Linz, how are you this morning? Hope you are feeling better.
-
So glad Maya doesn't seem botherd by her teeth Chantal! I've found one thing that helps is filling up the teats of some dummys with water and freezing them. When he sucks on them, they only stay frozen for a few minutes but they seem to take the edge off (read: he goes from rancid to bareable).
Amy I wouldn't worry about no teeth yet! A blessing I'd say! I read somewhere that the longer they're in the gums the stronger the enamel becomes which has got to be a good thing imo! I know a 16 month old who JUST got his first tooth this month!
I also feel your pain re: sleeping! For the past week Noah (aka the child who never naps for longer than 30 minutes at a time, EVER!) has been having at least 1 x 1hour+ nap a day! It's freakin fantastic! But at the same time I don't know what to do with myself. On the other hand his night waking have become even more unbearable. He ends up in bed with us every night! I try to leave him in his cot as long as I can, sometimes that's on the 5th wake up, others it's the 1st, just depends how tired I am on that particular night. I've heard great things about a particular sleep book, so I've bought myself a copy off eBay. I'll let you all know how I find it. I like the idea that it's flexible around you and your baby. It seems to be a nice balance between cio (which I just can't do) and having them cosleep until they're 21. No rules like "you must not pick up your hysterical, breath holding child no matter what". It encourages you to trust your instincts and do what works for you and your baby.
The friend that recommended it had her 13 month old sleeping through the night in 4 days! I'm not even aiming for sleeping through the night yet, just want to get back to the 1 or 2 wakeups which was working so well for us for months there!
Noah also still screams bloody murder if his dad tries to hold him which is EXTREMELY frustrating I can't even tell you! The second he gets handed back to me he's all smiles and laughs. Great.
This tummy time thing is not working. He just works himself up and completely spazzes out. Combine that with his runny nose (thanks to those darn teeth) and it just results in an hysterical, snot covered, gagging little guy.
I have noticed though that he's trying so hard to pull himself up on everything, so maybe he's just going to be like his aunty and never crawl. (I hope not though, she was walking full time at 10 months! No thank you very much!)
Anyway I'll conclude my novel here, so for the mammoth post! If you got this far I applaud you!
-
PC Charly is the same when I get her to sleep need to holder her forever before it is safe to put her in the cot. Been trying to get her to sleep without BF near impossible and usually only a short sleep.
Going to go to mum tomorrow and leave Charly for an hour to see how she goes, need to start preparing for going to work so she doesn't stress to much on the first day. Think i'm going to take it harder then Charly, bit like the first day at school.
Charly is only interested in solids if they come off Mum or Dad plate so I need to make sure I have something she can eat on my plate. Also prefers finger food.
LotusFlower let us know how the sleep book works, think I may need one for Charly. Have to get her sleeping without BF at least during the day.
-
LOL, Linz, yeah send some of Laila's toothy vibes this way ;)
Thanks re: the avatar. LOL it soooo doesn't look like me, but I reckon she's pretty hot! That dinner sounds good - I hadn't thought of offering bok choy. Natalie's harder to feed up on the veges... She likes fruit and rice-cereal tho, so breakfast is easy at least, LOL.
Oh, gee I can winge, can't I? LOL, I have to keep things in perspective. You are right, Jo. It's not forever. I am lucky that I can have a nap in the morning if I need to catch up a bit - Natalie is good to me atm during the day, sleeping for 1.5-2 hours in both morning and afternoon most days.
Lauren, I heard that about the teeth being stronger if they come later too... Interesting theory - I hope it is true. My teeth are not great, they are pretty strong and I didn't have to have braces, but I've got fillings, even had them as a child. I think that sort of thing is genetic, (although obviously hygene plays a big part) so I'm going to have to be super careful with Natty's pegs when they do come. LOL, everyone says not to be in a hurry for them to get teeth, or to get mobile... It's just hard not to anticipate these exciting things with your first baby!
Jo, has Angel had a go at the booby yet?
Lauren, is it the NCSS? I've heard that's a good book... I was thinking of looking into it.
Same here with tummy time, only not quite so dramatic, LOL! Natalie just hates being on her tummy and as soon as I roll her onto it, she uses her momentum to roll straight back onto her back, LOL. So she can roll, but only one way and only when she *has* to LOL. She's lazy like her mummy :D
Charlysmum, good idea about taking Charly to your mum's for a while to get her used to it... Might try that myself - it'd be a great excuse to go out and get a massage or catch a movie or something! Also, I wonder if it'd be worth getting your mum to try to settle Charly to sleep? Perhaps if she can't smell you she might go down ok without the boob? Just a thought, hey.
Chantal, what is your gorgeous up to atm?
Where are you, Liz? Are you and Dylan ok?
-
Hi guys
Thanks for asking Amy, mischievous Maya is getting into EVERYTHING:wall: its driving DP and I crazy. We are constantly picking her up and placing her in a 'safe zone' as she always wants to go under the computer desk. I went to make myself some breakfast this morning and after a minute went to check in the lounge and she had crawled to the next room and was sitting up! So she can finally crawl then sit up by herself.
The 'Whiny' (sp?) sound is sending me a bit batty too, the top tooth is coming down very slowely and when she crawls she whines along the way........(wheres my panadol......)
Just wondering, what sort of finger food is safe for them now, I am so scared of maya choking on a 'bit' of something so have been only giving her rusks???
-
Hmmm, Natalie's not ready for it yet cause she was a slow starter. I'd be inclined to watch a baby as young as ours closely if they're given finger food. (I think the recommendation is from 9 months?)
I've been told good first finger foods are cooked carrot, a banana, segment of orange or mandarin, piece of melon or mango or something.
-
I was just wondering because CharlysMum mentioned finger food and I thought maybe its around the right time. I think I will wait a bit longer with Maya as she is more likely to rub it into the carpet at the moment;)
Oh my gosh she is an active little girl today!! She won't let me put a nappy on without trying to turn over onto her side or tummy:wall: I'm so scared she is going to tip over the edge of the change table that I have to re-dress her on the bed.
She won't keep her socks on and when I try to feed her solids she waves her arms up and down or grabs her feet and kicks them around...................fun day today:doh:
Oh and thought I would add that I see another tooth coming through down the bottom!! Gee when they come they come in fast, I was hoping she would be slower in this department as the later they are the easier it is for them, not so painful, apparently.
-
i am still around, currently visiting my in laws in sydney, so hard to get on to a computer at the moment, so am a litle behind in this thread...
linz, i am sorry to hear about the stupid hubby, but i understand i have been there as well, within the first year of my marriage, i will read your story properlly later, just wanted to say,, big hugs to you...
well, we are well, dylan weighs about 8.9kgs at the moment and we are about 7 and a bit mnths old, we still only roll from front to back, but are currently doing superman impressions, hands out to the side and legs going wild but no movement,, we have been sitting for a week or so, and love our new jolly jumper.... teething... i think so , we have drool, and red cheeks on occation, but is very cranky and really chewing on things now... and yanking at one ear..

Charly only seems to want finger food during the day, I have giving her cruskits cut down to size as they just melt away, also orange and thin slices of cheese (grated) going to try baby carrots. Might also try some Avocado on the cruskits. I have got a mesh thing I can put some apple in and she just chomp away. In the afternoon she likes to feed herself so place the spoon in front and she graps it puts it in her month, a little messy but atleast she is eating. Also will eat anything I am eating. Loves porridge with fruit in the morning but has to be the jar, tried making some myself and hated it. Also will have fruit with custard.
The time with Granma went well, it was only and 1.5 hours but she was good. We do it again next week and make it a bit longer. I stop to see a freind at work on the way, she is working where I would love to work as it is half way between home and mum. My current boss knows I am trying to get a transfer out there, so took they opportunity to talk face to face with the boss there and sound promising to be able to work part time there :crossfingers:
