Wowee at the parties, girls. TBH we haven't done a lot of prep for Natty's... But we have a whole month to go, so I figure we'll get something organised! We're thinking of having it at the State Forest where there's room for all the kids to run around. Plus it is DH's birthday too and he loves birds, and the State Forest, so that was kind of his choice as well. I expect she will have some sort of bird for her birthday cake - an outdoorsy theme anyway. Most of her adventures have involved bushwalking and birdwatching, and she seems to really love trees and leaves.
I am preparing a DVD slideshow of photos of her and our family - Natty's first year. DH has taken some awesome photos of her (and I have too, even if I do say so myself ;) ) so I want to show them off :)
Lauren, MG is tomorrow - but if it is a nice day like today was we're going to the park so I won't have to worry. (I'm really hoping we go to the park... The more Natty moves around the more I realise this place needs soooo much work LOL!) Poor Noah and his sore lip :( He will soon learn. They are so unco at this stage, aren't they?! Nat has started crawling (dragging herself) INTO the coffee table
Pink and white sounds like a good theme, Chon - really work-able, you'd have heaps of options. You could go really traditional with your decos (like pink and white streamers and baloons) and have little lolly bags or boxes... What is on the cake you've ordered? Any pictures? You could design something like a simple picture, like a stick figure of a little girl with a baloon or something, and print it on some of the decos... This doesn't sound good, but gee it looks good in my head
Linz, gotta love Dora! Natty has just discovered the Wiggles DVDs... She has a wiggles book and laughs when she sees the Captain, but this week we've watched Pop Go the Wiggles and she loves it :)
-
hi everyone, i have just joined BB, hopeing to find some likeminded mummas here!
I had a little fella, blake, who was born dec 23rd. we are all preparing for his birthday, which i am going ot have on the 16th instead of the 23rd, its just soooo busy that time in december!
Do you think its an issue that my boy doesnt really show too much interest in walking? he cant stand up on his own either, he will walk from one person to another, but he wont just let go of furniture and walk off. the most steps we have counted is 14. I know i shouldnt worry, but he has only stood unassisted like once....
-
Amy- Laila has 1 wiggles DVD and she sorta like sit but I dont put it on cause I cant stand the wiggles, lol.
Blakesmum- Our bubs have their Bday on the same day. It dosnt matter if Blake isnt showing interest in walking yet. Laila isnt walking yet but she is trying.. she surfs everything and can stand by herslef unaided sometimes.. they will do this for awhile (maybe months) before they will take their 1st step/s.
I think he is doing great!!!
-
thanks lindsay, i cant help but worry when i have EVERYONE asking me if he is walking, yep he surfs all over the place too, he has one of those wlakers that he pushes around the house. too cute.
Nope, i am not a wiggles fan either, i have been trying to encouage sesame street with blake.
-
LOL Linz, their overacting can be pretty annoying, but I love the songs - they are the same as the ones I learnt as a kid, plus a couple of newies.
Welcome to BB, Blakesmum :) Gosh, I wouldn't be worried that Blake isn't walking yet... Natalie has only just started crawling a couple of weeks ago! Yes, she's a late starter, but her development is still 'normal'. From my understanding, kids will start walking some time before 15-16 months of age (even as late as 18 months for bottom shufflers) and this is 'normal'. If Blake is stepping along beside you and has stood unaided, he's doing marvellously!
Sesame Street is good fun.
-
Blakesmum; he is doing fantastic! Maya is still walking from furniture to furniture and walks everywhere with her little push toys. She hasnt taken a step by herself yet and has only just started standing by herself without holding onto anything:)
Amy; your idea for a birthday sounds wonderful, what a great idea. Love the slideshow idea, I have started a scrapbook of Maya and I'm starting to get addicted, its so much fun! I thought it would be a nice way to show off some photos for everyone to look at on her birthday, maybe have some of our home videos on the telly. But the scrapbook thing is great, I may end up with heaps of scrapbooks by the time shes 30!!! If I get time I will take some photos of it and put it in my photo album.
Getting excited about Christmas too, got my tree up and starting to get all the Chrissy presents off layby................my goodness I am organised this year!!!!!!
-
Amy- Yes forgot to say Natalies party idea does sound great!!. Yeah maybe there overacting is putting me off them..
Blakesmum-I have no idea why people ask questions like that, its very annoying!! Laila watches sesame street aswell if she isnt napping.
-
hi eberyone.. long toime no write!! Sorry have been very busy trying to keep Issy busy!! She loves people watching and her cousins so we don't spend much time at home.
Welcome back Linds and congrtas on the pg.. how are you feeling?
Issy is walking along furniture but not on her own yet, seems like she could but she's just not bothered yet, goes fatser crawling!!
We are having a failry simple party. Invites and cake butterfly theme otherwise nothing really. Having it at my Mum and Dads cause they have a pool.
Hope all is well with everyone.
-
Hey Shez, have you got a belly yet? :p
-
ok, so i am just being silly lol. I suppose because he started crawling at 5 months, i kind of expected him to walk a bit sooner too. Its comforting to know its me, not him :)
We are having quite a big celebration for blakes birthday, we are also having his naming ceremony too.
We are having a pirate theme, with a treasure chest birthday cake and i bought all the decorations off ebay and from teh dollar store so that is keeping the costs down quite a bit. We are just having a bbq, with basic meats, because i aint buying steak for 50 people! they can deal with a sosauge lol! and i am sure they will be fine with that.
-
We're having a pirate theme too Blakesmummy. We're doing it in the local Botanical Gardens as there's no way the 60+ people invited would fit in our tiny townhouse and backyard.
-
Hey Amy
I have got a little belly yes but I am overweight anyway so I'm not sure that it is decernable to others.
We are hoping to find out the flavour at the 19 week scan so I am very excited about that...
-
Wow everyone defiantly seems to have the birthdays well organised, they all sound great!
Blakes Mum; thats amazing that Blake was crawling at 5mths, it must of been very busy at that time.
Shez; how exciting! Cant wait to find out what little bubs is:D
Maya has her last x-ray on her hips tomorrow morning at the hospital. I know it will be all clear but they like to check bubs that have had hip dysplasia at 6mths then 1 year and then its all over!!
That also reminds me I have to make an appointment for her 12mth needles:( Going to make this after her birthday.
-
Not silly, Blakesmummy! Its only right that we worry about our kids... we should get used to it because I don't think its ever going to stop :)
The pirates sound like fun! And the Botanical Gardens sounds lovely, Lauren. Great idea about the treasure chest cake, Blakesmummy. In the member photo gallery, I think you'll see a pirate ship cake that Niliac (Cailin) made for her son's birthday - it is awesome! You'll have to post the treasure chest one on there too ;)
Cool, Shez... Have you felt bubs move yet? I didn't feel Natalie move until I was about 20 weeks, I think, but aparently you can feel them earlier when you've already had one?
And how are you feeling, Linz? Are you sick with this baby, or do you feel good (ie, running around after Laila you don't have a chance to feel tired/sick? :p )
Hope Maya's last x-ray goes well this morning, Chon! How exciting to finally be past the hip dysplacia for good! Her docs must be very impressed with her progress - she's such an active little girl :)
Boo to the needles. They suck. But hey, once these ones are over, isn't it 6 months til the next one and then no more for another 2.5 years?
Not looking forward to Natty's next ones. I'm waiting til the new year.
We had the MG over on Tuesday, and I had to move half the contents of our lounge room into the study  There's so much room in here when you move everything out, LOL! Anyway, we had a lovely time - 8 babies and mums altogether. Phew, Natalie slept well that afternoon ;)
-
I know what you guys are saying about the needles, i jsut hate doing them, i was actually tempted to have blake clean skinned, but the benefits out weigh the risks in my opinion, not looking for a debate though lol!
Yeah, it was busy with him crawling at that time. I am really used to him getting into things that he shouldnt be as he has done it for nearly 7 months. I have not really baby proofed the house, he kind of learnt from a young age, which cupboards are play safe and which ones are not. HE did how ever put a lock on our cleaner cupboards.
But i am a fairly relaxed mumma now, i dont want him to break our things, but at the end of the day as long as he cant hurt himself, then the house is his too. (within reason
So, since i am fairly new here - and i assume that alot of you guys were maybe in the due in december thread together? i thought i could post a little about me, and you guys post a little about you?
ME: Well i am 26 been with DF (31) for 6 years, we got engaged last year, DS was planned, we have fertility issues so he took approx 12 months of OPK's etc, we finally got to the 12 months so my fert specialist would start his work on me, i was waiting for day 3 of my cycle, but day 1 never came :)
I had blake via an emergency c section after 37 hours of intense labour. I am not ok about our birth together, but i will post about that sometime in the birth trauma section when i get to know the community a little bit more :)
we always wanted more children, and i think nearly 2 years is a good age gap, i am really looking forward to blake having a play mate. I think that he will adapt well. I do worry about my "work" load and lack of sleep etc, as i am a bit of a lazy ass rofl. But hey, other mums do it dont they?
I grew up in NEw Zealand and moved over here when i was 15 ummmmm
what else?
ummmmm i want 4 kids!
-
4 kids!!! Woahhh your game....hehe:lol: Good on you though, I am only going to have one more and thats it for me, I really look forward to having my next baby.
We didnt meet in the December bubs as I only started posting once Maya was born, didnt really know the site too well but heres a little about me;
I'm 32 and do some work at home which is coordinating rosters for Personal Care Workers after hours.
Maya was planned and it took 10 months to finally get the BFP.
Maya was born on 7th Dec. 2006 after an induced birth that only took 5 1/2 hours. I found the birth to be exciting and empowering, I was amazed at what my body achieved. But boy was it painful!!!I didnt get my epi till only 20 minutes before I was ready to push so only had gas to get me through the horrid contractions. She arrived after only 4 (or was it 5, cant remember:redface:) pushes.
She was born with hip dysplasia and had to wear a splint for the first 10 weeks of her young life:( That was a HUGE test for me but I'm happy to say it was a success and today she had an x-ray and her next will be in 12 months as the specialist wants to 'make sure' everything is still alright.
Don't really know what else to say but if you have questions, feel free to ask:)
-
nice to meet you Chon :)
its hard the ttc path isnt it, i really dont want it to take us this long again, i doubt it will, as i am alot more intune with my body now. I am jsut waiting on AF so i can get cracking with temping lol
That def sounds like an interesting job. Does it take up alot of your time?
I think thats what i missed, i laboured for 37 hours, then had a csection... i didnt feel empowered, i felt ummm whats the word... hacked.
So how big were our babies at birth?
-
Ooooh, fingers crossed that this will be your month, Blakesmummy!
So sorry Blake's birth was so traumatic. Definitely post in the debrief section when you feel comfortable - there are so many supportive, helpful people on this site, and people who can most definitely relate to you and your experience.
About us: I joined BB when I was about 30ish weeks. Natty was due on the 20th December but came a week late. I also really enjoyed birth (though I'll agree, it was very ouchy!) and labour was about 21 hours altogether - no drugs, just brilliant support. Natalie was 3.56kg at birth, and she's now a fairly petite little girl... She weighed 8.2kg last check when she was almost 11 months old. While she's the light of my life, I've found this year to be so tough. I haven't coped as well as I thought I might've, and I think if it weren't for BB I would've given her back after a couple of weeks :p But seriously, I'm just so greatful for the community on here, particularly the December babies. They have been a lifeline.
I'm still looking for work :( I had thought I had secured a job teaching piano, but now I won't know for sure until the new year. I have applied at our local shops to try to get some money in in the meantime, but no news yet. I just applied today to continue a course in massage therapy that I started before I had Natalie :) I'm pretty excited about that! DH (36) and I (27) have been married 6 years and we'd like to have one more kid, perhaps in a couple of years ;)
-
Awww, sorry to hear about your work Amy, its hard when your a new mum and trying to work out how to juggle everything. I really hope you get something soon:pray:
Blakes Mum; Maya was 2.9kg when born and now is 8.2kg. Weighed her at the hospital yesterday.
My work isnt that interesting, all I do is wait for in-coming calls on the work phone (which is a crappy mobile, wish they would get a new one) and when a facility (nursing home/hospital) asks for a carer for a specified shift time I then ring up carers from our list and fill the shift. I pick up the phone from the office at 5pm then turn it off at 11.15pm then its back on again at 5.30am! and then dropped off back to the office at 9am. When you have done a couple of nights in a row it can be VERY tiring. I usually have a 'Nanna nap' the next day:p
Also, I am so sorry to hear how traumatic your birth was, you must still hold a lot of mixed feelings regarding it. I hope you have people around you that you can share and talk about your experience as it always helps, even if its just a little bit. I also agree with Amy that if you feel alright to share it by posting a new thread I am CERTAIN there are other women here who can relate to and help you with what happened, BB is unique in the amount of people who are on here who are warm and friendly.
-
Thanks Chon. I hope so too.
-
Shez- Thankyou hun. Goodluck at the scan!
Blakesmummy- Well im Lindsay, married for almost 2 yrs now and DD was a suprise for us!! I joined BB at about 36 weeks PG but wasnt really into it. DD was meant to born on the 15th Dec but that day came and passed so they induced me at 8 days later. Labor was 3hrs 54 mins YAY and the birth was great.. I did have lots of hot showers, gas & a Peth shot but no Epi.
Laila was 3.16 (so abit over 7 pounds), 51cm & 34cm HC.
We had been TTC for 7 months, that resulted in 1 m/c and 1 chem PG. Finally we are here again!! We would like 4 also (well DH wouldnt mind 6 but no way in hell)
Im so sorry Blakes birth was so traumatic
Amy- Awww I hopr you hear about a job soon hun, I wsas also looking for some work but dunno if I should now *sigh* maybe I will go part time!
I have been alright, just really really tired, I nap when Laila naps, lol
Chon- Glad Maya's hip x-ray went well!!! Eeeek 5 days till maya is 1...
-
Snacks so sorry to hear about the job situation, i really hope that it picks up for you :(
Blake was 4 kilos born, 54 long and 37 head (no wonder he wouldnt come out) i am quite a petite *well was before him* i did how ever put on ALOT of weight while pregnant with him.
I was expecting a bigger baby, as i was quite big from early on, it was my 3rd pregnancy, but first that made it past thefirts trimester. So i was surprised at how early i popped out. It was quite comical people telling me "not long now hun" i was like ummmm i have 5 more months lol!
Blake was due on the 23rd by dating scan, he was due on the 16th by my dates, so i guess you could say that he was on time. I went into labour at 12.30 am on the 22nd, and had him 11.37am on the 23rd , so yep nice and long, i laboured at him for about 20 hours, drug free and used the bath, but had an epidural about 10 hours before i had him.... but i will elaborate more int he truama section, i am sure that everyone will be very friendly, whats the saying "its not you its me"
-
Wow really? I was a size 6 when I fell with DD didnt start showing till I was 30ish weeks but went up to a size 12 eeek!
Now im a size 6 again so I wonder if I get bigger earlier and what I go up too,lol
-
i went from a 8-10 to a size 16.
i am back to a size 10-12, and weigh about 60 kilos. i am fine with that, we are ttc again now, so i have lost a good amount of weight, but not too much.
-
I have been trying for 6 months now to get to a size 8 even but nothing has been working.. even though mind you the Dr said my weight 50kgs is my 'ideal' weight for my age & height but I feel too thin (yeah I know heaps say I should complain cause they would kill to be my size). I was most happiest just after DD was born cause I was a size 10..but anyway.
Hope your TTC journey is short and sweet!
Where is everyone?? Planning bday party's I bet, lol.
-
I'm here, just hiding from all you skinny minis!lol I'm back to roughly my pre-pregnancy weight and size of a 14-16. I don't really care though, which is obvious if you'd seen how many cho-chip cookies I ate yesterday!
Not too much going on here, I'm convinced Noah's chipped his front tooth from face planting on thje slate tile the other day. I guess it's his baby tooth at least and it's not super noticable but jeez!
Btw Lindsay, I love both your names, Sienna and Luca are gorgeous! Both are on my name list!
What would everyone name another bub if you had one today? Are the names the same as you were considering with your first?
For me another boy would be Finn William or Leo Patrick.
A girl would be Delilah Ruby.
Leo's always been one of my favourites but Finn is a new love. I've always liked Delilah but am more in love with it lately. Noah was almost called Archer which I still like but it's not a top pick anymore. If he's been a girl I wanted Lily. I still love it but it's just sooooo popular! I know of 5 born since I had him.
-
I agree, Sienna and Luca are gorgeous names.
Ooooh, Lauren, I love your names too (I really like Archer!) though sorry, but Delilah makes me think of that old ad with the jingle, 'why, why, why, Delilah' LOL! Its a lovely name though - goes really well with Noah. (Very ancient, beautiful biblical names.)
If we had a boy today, I assume we'd still call him Levi (DH's choice - I don't mind it but he LOVES it, so it works for me. But we haven't spoken about it, so its only an assumption.) If I had a girl today I'd call her Phoebe for sure. I loved Phoebe when I was pg too, but DH preferred Natalie... plus, I still think we are clever for having a Natalie at Christmas time :)
For boys names, I really like Ty, and I like Tim as well.
-
I would be stuffed if I had to name another baby right now:p
I have no idea what we will call our next bubba but hopefully something will 'stand out' before that happens.......................I hope.
Had our bubs group Christmas party yesterday in a park. It was great to meet everyones partners. We even had one of the Dads dress up as Santa!! Maya didnt cry when it was her turn to sit on his lap so when we go and see Santa in the city this Friday (on her Birthday) I am crossing her fingers she will be the same.
Maya is still practicing standing up from a squatting position by herself and then will stand in one spot for a good 10-15 seconds. She can clap and pull off a santa hat while standing:lol: so her balance is really good. I just don't think she is in a rush to go that first step yet and thats alright with me as its a handful keeping her out of trouble while crawling. Think there will be a few more little 'accidents' when they are learning to walk.
