Nic, I was talking with my GP today about Olivia. Hope you don't mind. Have they checked out her bowels ? Apparently sometimes (can't remember what she called it though sorry) something like a blockage occurs and this can happen. Just a thought for you.
-
nope don't mind at all.. The only thing the Dr said is that when she vomits her insides are possibly being squeezed and when that happens it causes your heart rate to drop..
I will mention the bowel thing though.
I forgot to mention she was twitching again too. I am hoping they do an EEG to check for seizures , either way I will request it as it isn't invasive, Isaac has had 3 done now so just in case there is something going on that is related to isaac better to be safe then sorry..
-
But wouldn't she have to be spewing a fair bit for that to happen ? Or is she already ?
And yes I totally agree on the EEG too, rather find out now than later hey.
-
Today she threw up a decent amount and gagged a bit too.. When we first got checked over she was fine all giggly and such and smiling at the Dr.. She said it was prob nothing and we were right to go home.. SO I signed the form you sign and as we left I was just outside and I said to my friend she just doesn't look right. I lay her in the pram and just watched her for a second and she looked "odd" then she gagged and I picked her right up and friend went in and got the nurse who took Olivia from me and went right back inside.. It was then they decided no she wasn't right . She went very pale the second time...
She is very happy tonight. although I have noticed she wants to be held a bit but prob cus she has been held all day... So right now the miss is laying on the floor chewing her fingers after just having a lovely bath...
-
Hope all is well tonight Nic and that you and Olivia get a good rest.
-
Nic - I hope little Olivia is better soon.
Trish - same with Abbey, Maria had broncholitus when she was a baby and it was the scariest thing to see a little bubba go through.
well I have been back at work 2 weeks now and Sofia is coping well in the office. It is a bit noisy but she is still sleeping fairly well and getting lots of cuddles from a few staff mates. No teeth have appeared yet but I think they are moving so we have had a few sleepless nights.
Who from Sydney is going to the baby expo on the weekend?
-
Nic, I hope you managed to get some sleep lastnight. I can only imagine how worried you would be.
Louise, I am going to the expo on Friday with a gf. It's my only day free and I will only have Abbey so hopefully it goes smoothly. Esp as Abbey hates travelling in the car.
What a crap night here. Abbey was up of and on all night. We were up from 1 til 2.30 with Abbey coughing so hard she spewed everywhere through my bed and poor thing even pooed herself coughing so hard. So after I changed and cleaned everything up we were back in bed. Thankfully she went back to sleep but it was very restless with her coughing constantly and struggling.
Forgot to say that the GP thinks she will need to go onto steroids for her lungs. I am so hoping that she doesn't end up with asthma like me. But the way she is going .....
Best go, I have both girls in the lounge watching Fairies. If only Abbey would lay there quietly.
-
Alicia: Thanks. sleep was ok. could have been better lol.. Hows your Miss Olivia going?
Louise: Glad Sofia is coping well with being at the office. Its great you can take her with you.. How are you going with work and sleepless nights?
Trish: Poor Abbey and poor you. and ugh at the spew. I hope Abbey gets better soon..
semi crap night here. 12 till 1:30 and than 5 till 6. Olivia is happy though. She seems a little tired to me this morning.. But she didn't really get proper sleep yesterday
Well not much else to report. Have a wee bag on Olivia so hopefully we get a wee sample for the Dr and ake that in..

Hi everyone, just wondering if you would mind if i joined your group?
My name is Janine and I have a beautiful little boy, Jake, he was born on 19.12.2007
Would really love to get to know you guys and share the magical journey of being a mum :)
Look forward to chatting soon.
-
Hi Janine & Jake nice to meet you
-
Hi and welcome Janine and Jake :)
-
hello everyone.
Nic i hope Olivia's test results come back ok.
Hope everyone is going well, i really need to come on here more often.
I have been the naughty mum and started Summer on solids. She still has breastmilk as her main but around tea time she has a bit of Farex baby rice and pureed apple. She is more than ready for it - she leans all the way forward to reach the spoon and waves her arms. Cries too if i stop giving it to her and she isnt full. She really loves a bottle of water too after her bf. i really cant believe how quick she is growing up!!
-
Thanks for the welcome guys!
Aussienic - can I ask what's wrong with little Olivia? Hope everything's ok
Nikki - I too have started Jake on a bit of farex about a week ago, he's seems to like it too and will try and grab the spoon and do it himself!! Thinking about mixing a bit of pureed apples with it as the last couple of days he seems a little bored, it is quite bland!
-
Oh Nikki you are so naughty lol. Whether or not when you start you do whats right for bub :) and if bub is happy then you are doing something right..
janine: 3 weeks ago Olivia threw up some milk and went white and unresponsive. Took her right to the Drs and her heart was only beating at 40 bpm.. A night in hospital and check up reveled nothing.. We thought she was fine. then yesterday she did almost the same thing. heart rate didn't drop as low this time thankfully.. Drs aren't sure what is going on.. Other then that she is a picture of health and as cheeky as ever :)
-
Wow aussienic, that sounds scary, have the doctors given you any indication whatsoever as to what it may be?? I really hope everything's ok!
Can I ask who is bf and who is ff? I'm bf but wanting to give a bottle of formula once a day as I'll be going back to work 3 days a week in 6 weeks and find it extremely difficult to express (and work doesn't seem too supportive of the idea either), but my little man won't have a bar of it! We've been trying for about a month now and it's just not happening, hopefully one day he'll decide to drink from a bottle, until then I'm a little stressed as to what to do!
By the way, where is everyone from? We're from Adelaide.
-
I bf.. Not sure what to offer as a suggestion for you for FF and going back to work.. I am sure some of the others mums in here will have some advice for you..
i am from QLD..
ps no the drs don't know whats wrong. Just waiting on an appointment with the pead

I am out of hospital have been since saturday, short version of what happened is...
Had onset of pain early hours of monday morning dismissed it as wind pain continued on my day, by lunch time was uncomfortable to hold Olivia but that did ease off...By tuesday afternoon I couldnt stand the pain no more so went to local health centre where they had no idea why I was in so much pain, gave me peth and anti nausea drug but still the pain persisted...So they advised me to go to Kalgoorlie ED....So I went home organised kids, got OH home from work (just headed off to night shift) and we headed into town...was seen straight away and given Morp still did nothing for the pain...They did a internal exam to check my IUD hadnt moved which it hadnt, a gnyo then came and did a internal scan, which he diagnosed overian cysts and said would operate in the morning and they would try and keep me comfortable over night, by morning I was in tears the pain was that bad and the morp was not even touching it...I had olivia with me aswell as she will not drink formula...and she was screaming in the cot next to me and there was nothing I could do..:( They manged to find me a early spot of theatre and I was taken in.....Next thing I recall is waking in recovery and being told it was a tumor they removed and my left ovarian tube as the tumour had cut of its blood supply slowly killing it and the reason why I was in so much pain...Now I am awiting the results of the tumour...:(
Hi Janine
Welcome to the group...so can so relate to your baby not taking formula was my biggest concern while I was sick...I still have not managed to get her to take it..Only EBM for her..
Well that was not as short as i had hoped sorry
-
Hi Janine! and welcome to little Jake too :)
I b/f and have never used formula, so I don't know how to help you to get him to take it. But personally, if it were me, and it's only 1 milk feed that's going to be missed, I'd get him onto solids before you go back to work, so the carer can give him solids and water, and not worry about formula. If it was more than one feed, I'd persevere with expressing or formula. But you can always give him lots of extra booby at the end of the day, and top him up before you leave him.
