 well if it fixed his toothy pain
Olivia was on FIL's lap the other day and he was eating a lolly and Olivia of course was very interested and he asked if she could have some  lol At least he asked i suppose
He kept saying but she really wants some . hmm I don't think so.. she won't eat her veges LMAO!!
oh and OMG Olivia has been getting up on her hands and feet this morning. and getting her knees under her and rockeing.. soooooo cute
-
Hehe - tallon only had his first lolly pop a few haircuts ago from the hairdresser! He used to play with jellybabies like they were toys too.. never knew you could eat them LOL. Was always a bit clueless at parties! even now tho he'll go for the fruit plate and not the lollies :)
As for jars of baby food.. at my baby shower with Tallon we played a game of guess the flavours.. and OMG they were ALL revolting!!! I vowed never ever to feed my baby those jars of food. The only ones I've ever used are the plain fruit purees and plain veg. But usually I have icecubes of my own cooked fruit & veg, and then eventually they move onto having what we're having mushed on the plate. So I don't use a lot of the jars of food at all. Even when we go out, I usually just grab a couple of icecubes in a bowl with a lid, and it doesn't matter if they defrost a little bit, and usually there's a microwave to heat it up.
-
Morning all,
Nic- Happy birthday to Ethan!! about your grandmum too :(
Lauren- Bet that chocolate was the best you ever had! I hope the sleep is not a one off for you too.
Liz- lol, those pureed meat baby foods just don't look right, I can only imagine how they would taste. Yuck.
I just don't know what to do with Ty at the moment. He is so grumpy and out of sorts. He should be feeling better by now, and the doc checked him over and his nose, throat, ears etc are fine. He's just chucking big tanties and getting really frustrated with everything (including me). People used to comment on how happy he was, and now I have to put in so much effort just to get him to smile :( I miss my happy boy. What if he's just going to be a grumpy bum forever now? The thought of it nearly makes me cry. And getting him to sleep during the day is still just impossible. He screams and screams and forces his eyes open even while they're rolling back in his head because he is so tired. Doesn't seem to matter if I pat him or rock him or try to feed him off, he still screams.I had to walk out of his room this morning and leave him to cry for two minutes because I was getting so cranky, saying to him 'Ty you are so tired, why won't you just go to SLEEP?????'.
I'm just at the end of my rope here :(
-
 Lori! I have done that too.. Olivia has her moments like that and I just put her in her cot and walk away! Some days its all you can do..
-
Oh poor little Ty. Hope he feels better soon. And yeah - sometimes you just have to walk away to calm down. Recommended right before your ready to throw them across the room! ;) hehehe. It certainly doesn't help the situation if we're getting stressed about it, so yup, leaving them to cry for a minute is often the lesser of two evils!
Well, we're having 2hr blocks of sleep at night. I guess it's an improvement. She has a massive sleep in the morning tho.. so i know she can do it! *sigh*.
I'm getting my hair cut this afternoon.. getting a new do. No idea what yet, but at the moment it's just long and straight with a fringe (booooring!).. there are some subtle layers in there, but you can't really see them, so hopefully I'll have the guts to just go for it today. hehe. And hopefully the kids will behave.. really miss my mum at these times!
-
oh dear I am supposed to be working right now but Loren has other ideas and won't go to sleep!!!!
Nic - Happy Birthday to Ethan. Hugs to you regarding your Grandma's anniversary. I remember what you went through last year. My Granddad died in July last year. Boy the time goes quick. I have one grammy left and I hope she does not die when I am pregnant next. All of my grandparents have died when I have been pregnant. At least my kids have heaps of angles to look after them!!!!
Re food. I make 90% of Loren's food. Although the bought food has really improved since miss Sara was a bub so I will give Loren plain puree veg or fruit from time to time. I did a huge cook up yesterday so we have a couple of weeks of supply in the freezer. I basically do what Liz does.
Liz - Sara used to play with jelly beans too. She did not have a lolly until she was 2yo...Tis a bit hard now she is older, plus my sil feeds her kids cr@p all the time so Sara wants what they have when we are togethher.
Lori - Hugs sweety. I agree some times you just needto walk away. I have done this so many times and now Loren will go to sleep by herself at times.
bbl...miss Loren is going to bed
-
Hi everyone, just sending a quick message, i have just found out my pops has passed away in hospital an hour ago so my family is very upside down atm. So I may not be online for awhile. They live in adelaide so ill mose likely be going to his funeral - I think they happen pretty soon, i have never been through this before. It still doesnt feel real.
-
-
Hugs Buzzie. My deapest sympathies for your family's loss
-
 Lauren!! thinking of you and your family
-
My condolences Lauren  Our thoughts are with you at this time.
-
*hugs* Lauren. Give Kelly a hug from us too.
-
hi girls, esp Buzzie - my sympathies :( -
I am so sorry I haven't posted for so long - my work has a no posting on forums using work PCs rule and the keyboard we have at home is cheap and nasty so it is painful to type (how DH managed to write his thesis on it is BEYOND me!!)
But I have been trying to keep up with everyone's news, just so busy at work and in the evenings I just want to cuddle my boys :)
will try posting some pics onthe BB photo section;)
-
Buzzie and Kelly, I am so sorry to hear about your pop.
-
Morning!!
Olivia won't stay in one spot lol.. I put her here and 2 seconds later she is over there.. roll roll rolll.. So funny to watch.. we have all 4 rocking action happening. hands and feet action as well..
tooth 3 and 4 are pushing their way through as well.. so it is all happening here this week..
-
Lauren, I am so very sorry to hear of the passing of your pop. Huge hugs to you and your family at this sad time
Nic, sounds like all systems go with Olivia atm. Do they never stop ?? Happy Birthday to Ethan!! Hugs on your Grandmums anniversary too hun
Rory, I'm not as busy with work as you are, but I'm struggling to keep up in here lately too. I read but just don't get the time for a decent post. Hope you and the boys are going well. BTW love your new FB pics.
Liz, I hope your haircut turned out nice. I am hanging for a good cut and colour. Just never seem to have the spare $$ for it. That's got to be one crap thing about long hair. You have to pay twice the money to have it done. Hope you got a better night in lastnight.
LoriRae, was that you or me that just wrote your post. I swear that is Abbey lately. Although she still smiles easily enough, she is just so damn grumpy and whingy all the time, seriously does my head in. Huge hugs huni, I know how frustrating it is. Esp with little sleep for a break from them too.
DP went in for his vasectomy on Tues, so I guess we can safely say now, no more babies for me..... Unless I find another man ;) He is a little sore and bruised but he'll survive. And let me tell you, I know why it is that women were designed to have the babies.... Far out, it's only a little cut !!
Best go, Abbey is whinging AGAIN. Noah has his sports carnival today. Joy. Just what I want to do. Sit out in the freezing cold with Abbey all day.
Hi to everyone I have missed. Hope you are all doing well.
-
aww I love your new ticker and the shirts the girls are wearing!!
Enjoy sports day ;)
-
*sigh* anohter rotten night here. My current theory (gosh... there's so many :( ) is it's the rice cereal upsetting her tummy. I actually bought a porridge/meusli thing the other day (can't remember LOL) so I will try her on that I think. Poor Tallon spent an hour trying to get me out of bed this morning, but I just couldn't, so he sat next to me in bed, getting in an out of the blankets, crying for breakfast, but I just soooo couldn't get up. Poor little man. Of course Kayla slept right through it all.. and is STILL asleep. I just don't get it. Maybe she's cold? Maybe she's scared of the dark?? i guess I should be grateful she's still happy all day and sleeps fairly well through the day.
Trish - my haircut was only $35.. is that good? or is that still expensive? I think it's cheap coz I used to get my hair cut in the city for about $80 LOL. It's turned out ok.. it's now just below my shoulders and got layers everywhere. I now can't tie it back tho, and I've got layers flopping all over my face! I blow dried it straight this morning to see what it's like.. it's ok.. but it's all over my face! Gotta get used to it. But it'll look nice just scrunched at the back too. Not sure I love it yet tho LOL.
Well, I should go. Feel like I've got a gazillion things to do today. Should sit and write my to-do list. It probably feels like more coz it's swimming through my head!
-
Hi all,
Lauren- I'm so sorry for your loss. Condolences for you and your family.
Nic- Go Olivia, clever girl!! We've got rocking action going on here too :)
Liz- Hope your hair turned out well. I actually managed to go and get mine trimmed yesterday arvo. Planning on doing a home dye job tonight.
Trish- So glad it's not just me :) Love your new ticker.
Well Ty must have known mummy was on edge yesterday and ended up having three naps- two for an hour and a half :cheer: So he was a bit happier yesterday which was a relief. Only four days till his christening. The mil is paying for us all (60 of us) to have lunch at a nice resturant afterwards so it's a party with no cleaning up or preparing the house for company and I'm very excited :) :)
Hope you all have a fabulous day. I'm off to mum's group for the first time in a month and I'm excited about that too :) A very excited me today!!
ETA- Liz we posted at the same time. $35 is pretty good for a haircut. Mine was $26 but that was mates rates.
-
Hi all,
Lauren, so sorry for your loss. Hope the funeral is a great celebration of his life and a good chance to look after each other. I'm sure Ash will bring much joy.
Trish, good to hear from you again. Ella's been a bit whingey lately too. I'm wondering if it's teeth.
Liz - so rotten! we're having crappy nights here too. have finally decided miss needs to learn how to go to sleep. poor kid is confused cos sometimes we cuddle, sometimes take her to bed, sometimes shush/pat. survival. But she can't even sleep when she's in bed with us, and we've been up for hours each night over the past week especially. So now, staying in her cot and i'm shushing / patting til she's asleep. saw slight improvement last night. only took an hour to go back to sleep, and then up every hour after that. but for the first time she stayed in bed til 7 (usually 5 am - I so know that feeling of just not being able to get up - we have a bag of toys next to the bed so she plays while I doze til she's too grumpy with it!)
haircuts..grrr.... $35 is way cheap. I just paid an amount I'm not even going to tell you & we couldn't really afford and it still looks crap because even tho they did a good job (esp colour) I haven't got any time to do it properly. so there's a lesson for me. ditch the vanity and go somewhere cheap seeing as it'll be in a ponytail anyhow. I feel like that episode of seinfeld? or friends? hairdresser betrayal tho - as I know them really well now & taught their daughters. oh dear.
ella's been making progress on her crawling skills. she does push ups on her toes trying to get somewhere (nowhere!), and yesterday discovered that she could also bend her knees. that led to her headbutting the carpet (which must have hurt cos she cried even tho I went 'yay'), and she had carpet graze poor kid.
off to mummy's group with Lori. can't wait to see all the other bubs. they must be teenagers by now!
have a great day all!
-
Liz: will have to go check out your hair. I got mine cut in May and I am still getting used to it. I wear head bands now cus I can't stand hair in my face
I hope Kayla starts sleeping better for you. Being so tired is not fun when you have other kids. You need a 9 yr old ;) Ethan will get the other kids breaky if I have had a bad night.. I am semi awake but I just can't get up..
Lori: So glad you got a better day with Ty.. I hope you both feel refreshed today
Jus: sorry but lol at the carpet graze.. Poor baby and you say yay... I did the same thing though.. We sit there going oh yay Livi and she looks at us like we are mad!!
Olivia is sitting in her high chair next to me drinking out of her cup :) and eating a rusk.. she looks so grown up now.
We have the wind issues starting up again since starting solids again but I am going to stick it out this time.. Olivia woke twice last night but I think the first time her mouth was hurting heaps.. tooth 4,5,6 and really pushing on her gums..
anyways best go..
-
Wow everyone has popped in today. Hi ya to Trish and Rory!!!!!
Busy morning here. Loren had an ok night and she woke at 6.15am for a feed (from 8.30 last night) so I stayed up and got on the treadmill. Wonders never cease to amaze me I actually exercised. Then I hung out 4 loads of washing and took the girls to the park. Finally I have sat on my butt!!!! Although miss Sara will not sleep again. She is dropping her day sleeps "sigh". Sara woke with a cough this morning and has been coughing all day. She also has a funny rash on her face. It looks like excema.
Jus/Liz - Regarding the sleep issues. All I can say it that Loren is heaps better now that I stick to a set routine. (Touch wood). For most day sleeps she drifts off by herself and night time she is getting better. She still wakes at 11pm, 2am and some times 4am but I am persisting and doing the same settling each time. She seems to now know that when I put the bag on her and her music that I mean business. Some times she fusses, other times screams and sometimes just drifts off. I can't beliew how much only 1 week of being consistant has paid off.
Nic - OMG all those teeth coming at once and Olivia has decided to practice crawling!! I hope you she is not too unsettled for you.
Lori - How is Ty?
BTW Loren is starting to wear size 0. I only tried size 0 on her 2 weeks ago and they were way too big, now the bonds 0 fits perfectly...go figure hey. I get sad when I need to put away clothes. It means I may never use them again.....
Re haircuts: $35 is cheap. I just paid $45 at my local hairdresser. Being a ex hairdresser I was pleasantly surprised that I got a good cut. I can't afford the colour side so I will get DH to put some foils in for me. I haven't been in the salon for 6 years now and we used to charge $60 for ladies and $45 for men, albeit I worked in an up market dayspa so those prizes were a big higher than normal.
-
Hehe.. strict routine is a no go here, coz I can't stick to it.. let alone expecting Kayla to stick to it! LOL. But I find it's not getting her to sleep that's the problem. When she shows tired signs, she gets wrapped and put to bed, and usually puts herself to sleep quite easily (so we have a routine I guess for sleeping.. just not a timed routine if that makes sense). But at night, she's waking for feeds (she's too distracted through the day :( ) And this morning at 4, I could just tell it was her tummy. So I don't think it's a routine thing here, just that she's unsettled with either her tummy or her teeth. I am starting to believe being in our room is waking her too.. so I -may- setup her cot in DS's room and give that a try.
Aah, we'll survive. i survived it with Tallon. Just need a few early nights to catch up on a few zz's and I'll be raring to go again :) I cope with simple feed wakings.. just not the screaming ones.
Oh, I've been meaning to say too, re the tummy troubles only at night.. this may or may not be related, but is interesting. When my dad had his liver cancer, he was told by his naturopath that at sunset your skin shuts off, so your body uses the bowel & bladder more overnight to rid the toxins. He was very jaundiced and that can cause awful itchiness as the body uses the skin to try and rid the toxins.. but they managed to control it with a gazillion pills. Anyway... my point being.. that could be why our bubs have more tummy trouble at night because the body rhythms could be moving their bowels & bladders more at night! (chalk that up as another Liz theory LOL)
-
Liz - We don't have strict routine by the clock it is more of a ritual if you like. For example curtains closed, music on etc and I have been using the same method to settle her. Additionally I have not chopped and changed between cot and our bed.
Bekz night time wind therory. Gas builds up over the course of the day and if bub doesn't burb after a feed then the wind moves done to the bowels and stays there until bub is relaxed (as in asleep). When bub is relaxed their body decides it is time to get rid of the wind, this usually wakes bub up.Then we add food to the mix and it is compounded.
Therefore if you can identify which food is creating gas then feed to bub in the morning, always burb bub and maybe do some tummy massage and try a course of baby probiotics.
-
Oh ok. Well same here I guess, but I do pick her up and rock her or cuddle her to sleep sometimes still. Kinda depends if I've left her to get overtired and things too. I'm not worried that she's losing the knack of falling asleep so I'm happy to accomodate :)
hmm... re the wind. I dunno, coz kayla pops off and burps quite happily all day.. perhaps it's the opposite for her.. it builds up at night and she doesn't get it out until she's up and moving through the day, and it's the build up that gives her pains.
-
hey the wind stuff's interesting. ella usually burps during feed. very predictable - 2 big burps (if not, she chucks later). but there'd be more wind anyhow, esp with solids.
yeah, you're giving me hope BekZ - just had 45 min of screaming for her to go to sleep. maybe overtired, maybe teeth - maybe the teething gel freaked her out, cos she wouldn't keep the dummy in ?, & tried to get Brauer's teething relief into her - took 3 goes cos she spat it out easier than panadol. sigh.
but if you've seen differences in a week, i'll stick to it. we have a good bedtime ritual - curtains closed, music, sleeping bag, cuddle. the prob was when she wouldn't go to sleep cos i'd stuffed up her feeds/up time etc. & then when we took her out of the wrap, cuddling worked better. & I like it. Esp if she's overtired. Also we've brought her into bed with us during the night some times or cuddled her, so she's had lots of mixed messages. I have no problems with doing any of things we've done, except they're not working any more. she doesn't even sleep in bed with us, so we have to do something.
She knows I'm there with her & I'll only let her go so long before I'll give her a bit more help (rock the cot). Karitane said the first coupla days'd be the worst, so if I can hang in there for a week or 2 should see a difference.
I know what you mean about being sad putting clothes away. ella - tiny doll - just into 00s now, so might need to get her some 0s for cool weather. only bought 0s for summer...
i can't begin to imagine how you do more than 1 child on no sleep; more than 1 child fullstop. don't see it happening here...
off to have a rest.
-
I still cuddle as well if Loren is upset or overtired and when we do have a really bad night she ends up in our bed but this is usually around 5am. However 95% of the time we stay in her room for cuddles and settling. Loren has befriended a glow worm and playing with the gw's ears seems to soothe her off.
Jus - Size 00 bless her what a doll!!!!
oh dear I just know I am in for a bad night. Loren has needed resettling 3 times in the last hour and she has a really raspy cough...mind you Sara has it too.
Best go and finshing doing my floors whilst I can. Then I may get to sit down
-
:( Olivia has wind issues again.. Someone please tell me it will get better.. she ws fine when we stopped solids and now.... :( she has already woken tonight..
and her teeth seem to be bothering her.. Poor baby
We are in 00's here, a couple 0 shirts and still some 000 pants...
-
Nic - Sorry to hear Olivia has wind again. Poor bubba. Personally I would take her off solids for a few days to see what happens. I also think the teething may have some thing to do with it. Her little tummy might be acidic (sp).
Crap night here last night. Loren was just screaming out in pain on and off. Her poos are really acid. She did a poo last night and it took her skin off.
I also have Sara home sick...
Quiet in here today....I hope everyone is ok
-
Hi all,
AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
I feel better now. We are having a very bad day sleepwise- Ty is obviously very tired but, after 40 minutes of shushing and patting, is obviously not going to sleep. And now that he has missed his morning nap he will be a cranky boy for the rest of the day :(
With the sleeping, we try and keep a sleep routine during the day- curtains closed, wrapped, dummy in, then mum assumes the position sitting by the cot with her book to read, one arm through the slats patting him off. Normally takes about 20 minutes. Longer on a bad day. After an hour- or when my temper starts to get the better of me- I give up and try again in half hour or so. Ty screams himself to sleep, with tears and all, no matter what i do- pat, rock, feed. Breaks my heart. At night he is in bed with us and half the time he still screams himself to sleep. I don't think it's teeth or wind because it happens every time and has for months and months now. He's never been a good sleeper. I'm just resigned to this being the way it is now. That's just his personality- he does not like to sleep. Not an attribute i would have chosen in a baby but, hey, what do you do?
Oh, and we are in 0's, just, more for length than for weight- they are all still too big around the waist.
I can't remember what everyone said on the last page. Ty is whinging again so I better go. Hope you are all having a better day than me....
-
Lori - I believe that some bubs just need to have cry before sleep. As you said it is just their way. I give bedtime settling 20mins and if Loren won't go down I get her up for a bit and try later. I figure you can't force sleep. I know eventually (hopefully) all bubs will sleep when they are supposed too.
I have put Loren in 0's for length too. She still fits into 00 but the 0's seem to cover her hands.
Sara and Loren are starting to interact, it is so cute when they laught at eachother. Today they have been doing crawling races. Loren just cracks up laughing.
Very ho hum day here. Not much energy to do anything. I think the girls are the same.
-
Lori: 50% of the time Olivia has a whine before dropping off to sleep.. rarely does she feed to sleep anymore. night sleep is different but day sleeps she always goes down awake.. sometimes she ust puts her head down and goes to sleep other times she gets grumpy for about 5 minutes then figures sleep is better
Had an ok night last night. Olivia didn't wake till 3:50am (what is it with her and the ten to the hour wake ups?) Wechanged fed and went back to sleep on the couch till 7am :) All my boys slept in for the second morning in a row till 7 again .. unheard of :) Bet the buggers don't do it tomorrow when I can laze around (no school)
now for some TMi: Olivia did a solid poo today and has been muc more settled. Her nappy rash seems to have settled down too.. and we seem to have graduated to 2 meals a day.. While I out I bought a jar of custard and she ate the whole thing :) So hopefully we don't pay for that much food later but she really wanted it..
If I eventually get off my lazy tired butt ;) I will cook Olivia's dinner. No rush though. May as well cook it as she needs it..
I am buying a bike on Mnday.. Wa meant to get it today but we left our cards at home grr.. only had enough cash for lunch  Oh well I picked out the one Iw ant and Kmart has a decent sale on..Perfect timing.. I am planning on a bike ride with the boys either tomorroe afternoon when Simon gets up from his sleep or Sunday when he starts days off.. itching to get out again. Olivia is just to small. We were hoping to borrow a friends and I was going to put her car seat in it and Dh could come too and we go on our first ever family bike ride.. but he isn't selling it and is still using it regularly.. oh well.. a couple more months and she will be ready
-
Nic does Olivia have water? When Loren does a hard poo I up her water reduce the baby porridge and give her some pear. Seems to work. Enjoy your bike riding when you get too. I got on the treadmil for the second day in a row...I need to lose this baby weight
Talking of poos. Loren just did another acid beauty!!!! Poor little thing her bum is so red and raw.
-
Yeh I offer her water on and off during the day and she always has it when she has dinner.. I don't think she drinks much though.. Maybe 20ml if I bothered to measure ;)
She just woke from a 3 hour sleep :D food is awesome.. wind and all.. and she is happy
-
WTG Olivia on that sleep.
Whoot - Loren put herself to sleep tonight....Not that this guarantees a good night but I am proud of her!!!
-
thought I might post again, have been lurking but just so busy lately. DH has taken Maria to Tamworth for the weekend so I can get heaps of monthend work done and some sewing, I have some fleece trackies cut out for Maria and some long sleeve tshirts as she has had a growth spurt. We are also going to Falls Creek next week - yay sking.
Sofia finally has 2 teeth, can sit up and clap hands and can say a very clear hello - my little princess is growing up
-
louise: Quiet ish sort of weekend then :)
yay on teeth and clapping.. We have teeth.. semi clapping and we get hello now.. and everytime a car drives past olivia waves.. it is so adorable..
-
hopefully quiet, I just talked to my MIL who wanted to know what clothes Maria needed, so I have put my order in for new socks and long sleeve tshirts, she always loves buying the girls clothes and it is quiet useful as going to the shops with 2 is horrible, don't know how you manage it Nic. Oh Damn, little miss has woken again, her sleep is just dreadful lately, I think 2 upper teeth as trying to appear.
-
I hate shopping with all the kids.. I can do it on my own but prefer not to.. If dh is with me it is ok.. We toss Isaac and Jacob in the trolley and Olivia in the pram :)
Grocery shopping is becoming harder as to be honest Jacob is a turd :P But we all go and trudge through it .. or Dh goes at night when the kids are in bed.
Olivia stirred before but never woke thankfully. She has 5 teeth pushing through at the top now :( poor bubba.. her two front and 2 on one side and then the other one.. she always has one on top
-
Morning all :)
Had a pretty darn good night.. Olivia slept 7 till 3 then 3:10 till 6:30 woot!!
Jacob slept ALLLL night..
Olivia down for her morning nap. I am having a nice day.. Been running around th back yard teaching Isaac how to ride without training wheels :D He is upgrading his bike and I figure its easy to spend a few days training himt o ride without the baby wheels then try find the silly things and put them back on..
Hope you all had a good night too
