Abbey sounds like Caitlin Trish! She just isn't a happy baby and loves boob to settle. I dont know what I will do if she goes on formula??
GOod on you managing a tidy up and dinner Nic, I have not been doing much of anything lately.. Leaving the house is impossible I feel like im in jail sometimes and DF doesn't get it. He still goes out all the time! GRR Babies sure are testing on relationships!

Now here's way tmi for you girls. I had Chinese for dinner lastnight and it's fair to say it hasn't agreed with me. I have been on and off the toilet since I got up this morn. Well of course now, while nursing Abbey I got those death pains, you know the ones with the sweats too, just like labour. So I have to take Abbey and the rocker to the loo with me, away from Tehya. I leave Abbey just outside the door, poor kid. She has the biggest screaming fit so I get Tehya to go find her dummy which she won't take anyway and ended up with Abbey on my lap until I could calm her enough to put her back down, wipe my butt and get the heck out of there.
How much worse does it have to get. I literally can't ***** by myself now. She has been sooking all afternoon now. She is on the boob AGAIN and I have wrapped her nice and tight. Soooo hoping she goes to sleep for a little while at least. And that doesn't mean 10 minutes either Abbey.
I really didn't want this baby to only settle on the boob, Tehya and Noah were the same, we were going well but lately she will only settle on the boob. I was hoping for the sleep, feed, play routine but that sure is hard with a baby this size.
Man oh man I am so HOT here..This hot weather is killing me poor Olivia is so not coping she is drinking evey 1 1/2 hrs which I cant blame her its bloody hot..

and I was right Olivia woke up not long after I posted// she fed pooped right out the back of her nappy had a lovely bath another feed and is semi happy on the floor beside me. I love having a laptop so I can move to where she is.. oh here come the farts.. A lady she aint :lol:

I felt like I was in jail for a while there as DH didn't wan to load all the kids in the car to go get milk but I was going stir crazy. In the end we just made sure we went for a short drive every day just to get out and about..
Are any of the other bubs starting to smile? We got one smile on Xmas day and the occassional smile with her eyes. but other then that nothing. I thought by nearly 7 weeks we would be getting more. Maybe she is crying to much so has nothing to smile about lol
Poor Olivia not having much to smile about. Abbey has started to give a few little smiles. We got a definate one last week in hosp, and I even managed to half catch one this afternoon with the camera. I will post it later on.
I would laugh if I didn't feel so crap. Now tell me when you would find a male doing the same thing. Baby on the lap while in the loo. Talk about bloody multi tasking !!
I hear you all on the jail too. I feel like its been just me with Abbey since she was born. First DP left to take my midwife back and left me with a day old baby and a 2 year old. Then it was the stay in special care for the couple of days, and then hosp for me for 4 days and now he has gone away for 5 days. I know it's not that much, but atm it sure does feel like it.
I am lucky I guess that I drive and am not stuck at home as such, but it would still be nice to have a partner around the house lately. He goes back to work on Monday, I think in allthe time he had off with Abbey's birth and Christmas we have spent so little together. All circumstantial I know, but still.
Hi all seems like it has been a busy day of chatting in here.
We just came back from Olivia's Maternal Health Nurse appointment and she is doing fine. She has gained weight again (up to 4.6kg) and looks really healthy and alert so the nurse said not to worry too much about the fact that she is a bit of a fussy eater sometimes.
Teena, I am with you about the heat. We don't have aircon at our place and it is getting very stifling, it make Olivia grizzly too.
Nic, I had a bad night with Olivia too. She was wide awake after her feed and was still up and wanting company at 1:30am. Then she dozed and woke again at 3am. By 4am I was pretty grumpy so I woke up DH and made him take a shift while I had a doze. The thing is then when she woke in the morning all I had to do was put her on our bed and she happily went back to sleep for a few hours. Yes I do have one of those clingy babies as well girls, looks like lots of us are in the same boat there.
Haroula, I live pretty close to Highpoint. Do you live over that side of Melbourne too?
Oh yeah the 'jail' thing. I am going insane at not being able to drive!!! Now that I am starting to feel a little better I can go on short outings but I need to rely on someone else to drive and load the pram, etc... is driving me insane being so dependent!
She should have lots to smile about :) she has me as her mummy :lol: I may have got one not long ago. The boys were outside and it was just her and me inside and she gave me a little look that looked like a smile..
and yeh at the multi tasking.. My DH might be good but sheesh ask him to do more then one thing especially where the kids are concerned.............
Alicia: At least we all have good company when the clinginess will get to us in the end :) Sometimes I jump online in the middle of the night but we don't usually have nights like last night.. I have been pretty lucky that was only our 3rd bad bad night since she was born.. and I can remember having heaps more with Jacob...
Well I have actually managed to bath the boys before dinner and Olivia is asleep again :) Dinner is still cooking away nicely.. Hopefully I can get the kids dinner dished up and eaten before she awakens again :) Dh should be home by 7 at the latest so hopefully I can look like a good housewife and even have the dinner dishes done ;)
Well Abbey is STILL awake. She went off for about 10 minutes while I bathed Tehya and that was it. She is in the crappiest mood as is her mummy. Clinginess is getting to me today I tell ya.
Tehya has decided to be a feral cow, she sat in the loungeroom and spooned yoghurt all over her feet then rubbed them on the carpet !!
Hoping that she will go to bed soon but I would prefer it was Abbey over Tehya. Would benice to be able to spend some time with Teh. Abbey has been demanding all afternoon.

I am sitting here speaking to thin air apparently. Olivia is asleep in her swing and I asked the boys to play in the other room.. nope they didn't go and just brought out more toys..

Thank God, actually thank me, both girls are bathed and asleep. For now atleast. Abbey has been shocking, not sure what was up with her but I bet atleast half of it was because she is over tired. Abit like me.
I will be a good girl tonight and go to bed early. It's just so hard with daylight savings. It's still very light outside atm. I am eating a banana on a roll for tea, how bad is that. I can't be buggared cooking or making anything and it will more than likely come back out soon anyway.
I hope all mummies have good nights with their babies. Here's hoping that tomorrow is a better one :D

Well Abbey's sleep was short lived. Perhaps 30 minutes. She is awake and at it again. I hope she gets the idea of sleep sometime soon tonight.

yep I have a non sleeper here as well, well she did sleep for about an hour after her needles but since then she has been grumpy, thankgod Maria was at childcare today. DH was also working from home today and as much as he tries Sofia just will not settle in his arms, very frustrating for both mummy and daddy.
I have booked a date for Sofia's christening for the 23rd February, another good ole Greek orthodox dunkings, shouldn't joke Maria's christening was lovely.
Haroula - I am in Footscray. Rory, Lauren and I (the Melb girls) got together for coffee before babies and were planning on catching up at some stage after bubs, maybe you would like to come along.
Trish - Maybe Tehya is planning on being the next Pro Hart?
Louise - I would love to have a christening for Olivia but unfortunately religion is one thing DH will not compromise on. He is very anti religion for some reason. I am trying to get him to agree to a naming ceremony instead as my Aunty has made a beautiful blanket that she crocheted for a special occasion so I would like a chance to use it. We have taken photos on it but...
Nic - Well done on getting the kids bathed and dinner ready. I haven't managed to cook today - just had left over chicken in a roll.
Can't complain too much today though as I had a good afternoon today. A friend came over and doted on Olivia for the afternoon - holding her and even changing a very yucky nappy. We sat on the couch and watched an extremely stupid movie that neither of us could completely follow (called War or Rogue Assassin), we only watched it as my friend wanted to perv on Jason Statham. The fact that we talked through a lot of it probably didn't help us follow it ;-) Also ate a pack of tim tams between us so had a huge chocolate overload.
Oh forgot to say - yesterday when I read Olivia a book she was actually looking at it, it was so cute. DH took a photo, I will try to upload it later.
I have a sleepy baby.. Of course she sleeps now :rolleyes: I think she will sleep well tonight cus this girl has farted and pooped more today then I swear in the ast 6 weeks :lol:

good luck Nic, I have only just got Sofia to sleep and now Maria is stiring (mossies attacked her yesterday and the bites are itching her}.
Well I got her up.. At first she wasn't having a bar of it but after dragging my nipple down her face she started opening and then eventually took it :) and wooo she fed for a good 15 mins. I put her over my shoulder she burped and went back to bed :)
that was my first attempt at a dream feed that was breastfed.. most exciting :lol:
oh I hope it works well for you. Maria has gone back to sleep and I have just 4more items in the clothes pile that really do need ironing.
yeh well tha didn't work :( Olivia woke just after 12 and here I sit at 2:40 waiting for the little miss to decide when it is bedtime again.. What am I doing wrong? She just won't sleep at night. I know it has only been 2 nights but I am so exhausted...
She won't even let me la down. If I lay down she starts crying and I don't want her to wake dh as he needs to get up at 5 for work..
Why didn't she do this when he was on time off so it didn't matter.. Seriously!!! I suppose I could look at the bright side.. She is having happy time on the floor :lol:

So far I have been really lucky with Ollie - he has been unsettled during the day but sleeps well at night. Last night he fed at 10.30, woke for a feed at 4am and then a bottom change and feed at 6am. Maybe this is my payback after Feral Flynn - a kid who didn't sleep more than 6 hours at a stretch before he was 12 months old....:pray::pray::pray:
Hey girls, well I fell asleep with Tallon about 9/9.30 last night.. and woke up to Kayla at 1.30! I was leaking everywhere LOL so she must have gone ages without a feed. I can't remember when she fed, but I'm pretty sure she was in bed before we ate dinner at about 8, so she did a really big stretch. Altho, DH says he settled her once during that time I was asleep.. so she probably should have fed then. hehe. Then she woke at 4.30 and 7.30 (3 hrly.. like a newborn again!).
I just changed a MASSIVE pooey nappy from my little miss. All my whinging about Tallon being a poo boy and wishing I had a baby that went a few days without pooing... well... I change my mind. When she does eventually poo it is soooo big and soooo messy. I'd rather just have smaller poos each nappy - it's not like it's hard to clean up. Big messy ones that go up her back and all over her clothes.. ugh. Doesn't help she's still in sposies (hangs head hehe) they just don't contain anything. I've got MCN stored away in a suitcase in the garage which I haven't had the motivation to get out. But I'm determined to only finish this last box of nappies (only a few days worth left). I didn't buy anymore even tho they were on special yesterday. Plus now that she's 5kg, she'll need another size soon.. so no more sposies for us!
OK.. should go.. wasting valuable free time .. Kayla is in bed and Tallon is showering with DH. Got visitors for dinner tonight, I have to clean this whole house! LOL. Gosh we live like pigs.. honestly.
I finallly got back to bed at 3:30 and Olivia fell asleep feeding around 3:45. and she woke at 5 and I just patted her bum and said like hell sweety lol.. but Jacob woke at 5:30 and I dragged myself out of bed at 7. I can barely keep my eyes open to be honest
Rory: it is good wen you get a good sleeper after a bad one. Ethan was our shocking sleeper.. How I survived I don't know.. Isaac and jacob were pretty good.
Liz: I have to clean this house today to.. ugh I so don't want to. I hope you have a nice dinner tonigt
Yep it's gonna be another one of THOSE days here. And I am more than just slightly over it. I'm not sure if it's the constant crying, the need to hang from my boob every waking moment, the not being able to fart without someone in my arms or the fact I feel like a single mum. PMSL good enough whinge.
I get Abbey to sleep and it might last a whole 20 minutes. There's only so much you can do in that time and Tehya is in another destruction mood. I know it's horrible but when I get Abbey off me the last thing I feel like is Tehya climbing over me.
My grandfather called yesterday and cught me by suprise, my mum has gone away for a week so instead of going to sit at her house for the day he is coming here !! There are only so many things you can talk to an old man about. Of course that means I need to get this place cleaned up too.
Nic, sounds like you had a great night hun. Atleast Olivia is sleeping of a day time for you. Don't you just wish there was an off and on switch sometimes. Oh and when you get that cattle prod, I want one too.
Liz, oh yummy on the poo bum. It's worse with girls too coz there is nothing to hold it down so it goes up the front as well. Don't feel bad on the sposies hun, I went and got another packet last week. But I am using both cloth and sposies atm.
Rory, I hope for you that Oliver stays a good sleeper. I was so sure that Abbey was going to be it for me. And of a night time she's not too bad, but gee I wish she would sleep in the day or atleast just lay there quietly for a while.
OMG what is worse than having a baby cry all the time ??? A 2 year old saying constantly Abbey's crying, Abbey's crying !! Coz I can't hear clearly.

OMG I so know what you mean.. Jacob is sitting right next to me when Olivia is on my lap crying saying Mummy Livia crying Livia crying.. I have said DUH to him before :lol::
Olivia is very happy on the floor looking around. When she starts to grizzle I roll her over on her tummy and she is hapy with that too..
LOL - Tallon goes and puts Kayla's dummy in her mouth if I'm being to slow to stop her crying! hehehehe. It's so cute. But then he yanks it out again so he can put it back in :rolleyes: so he's not that much of a help!
Talk about stating the obvious hey. Well Abbey has been bathed and is feeding yet again. I have a load of her clothes in the machine just about done and it has started to rain !!
LOL Liz at Tallon, Abbey has decided she doesn't like her dummy, damn it. She sucks, gags then spews with it. Tehya will steal it if she gets a chance though.

We've had a few smiles.. altho according to her corrected age.. we shouldn't really! hehe.
First one was while i was washing her hair.. little monkey thought that was quite nice I think! Nana claims to have had a couple of smiles too :) I love how the whole face lights up tho.. even tho it's a funny open mouth smile.

I think it's around 5-6 weeks. But it can depend on what you call a smile too LOL. One nurse told me her daughter came out smiling. I think Tallon gave us his first real smile around 5 weeks. I can't remember. (I didn't even record all his firsts anywhere.. altho if I read the baby buddy archives I could probably find out LOL)
I reckon this whole corrected age thing is a bit of a crock. What if her 'real' EDD was at 37 weeks like Tallon? That's full term. So her corrected age could well be 6 weeks already.
How's Sofia going.. any reaction to the needles? Kayla seems fine. I totally forgot about the new one for that tummy bug. I was suprised when they brought an oral vax over for her to have hehe (informed mother that I am :rolleyes: )
PMSL is that the rotavirus one Liz ?? I have heard to be extra careful with their poo nappies after that shot. Apparently the virus is in the poo or something like that. It's toxic waste !!
Not sure how it works really with the whole corrected age. If they can do their needles at the birth age then why not everything else ?

Guess I should go and see if I can manage a shower while the "princess" is asleep. Hopefully she will be down for a few hours now, oh.... that would be so nice. Is it ok to lock a nearly 3 year old out the back yard ?? ;)
Nic, Tehya tries to walk around and over Abbey too. Scares the hell out of me. Already on the day she was born Tehya fell onto her. If I thought she had to grow up tough poor Abbey is going to have to be a strong one too.
