Yes dribbling everywhere! I keep checking to see if she's teething!
Trish: sorry i missed your post on brandon.. I was just thinking bout you guys this morning too and was wondering how things were going. I hope he smartens up soon. And that nothing happens while he is off proving something..
Bek: I don't want to even think of my kids doing anything like that.. Sorry to hear Loren isn't settling for you.. I have one suggestion.. Express some milk and add a thickener to it. It is karicare. If she has reflux that will help.. thats what we did for Isaac and he slept well too
Liz: Great idea for Trish.. I will keep that in mind if any of my boys ever pull a stunt like that..
We have had rats our cats have caught and I am sure it is from there.. I should try and take a pic like my sister suggested.. and i hear ya on wanting to leave bub while you duck out. Would never do it but sometimes it sucks to have to get them up isn't it...
Olivia is the same when she hasn't pooped for a few days too. Thankfully she did 2 two days in a row..
As for the dribbling and hand chewing. Its happening here too.. It is a developmental thing if I remember correctly.. 3 months is the age they start doing it..
Olivia is still down having her morning nap..today and yesterday she has gone down for a big morning nap.. She woke briefy before but her crib light thingy came on and she went back to sleep :D ( PS Trish: How is your light thing working out for Abbey? )
morning ladies
YUP Chrissie is sucking fingers and dribbling and making bubbles...LOL
Thanks, Chrissie had a good night..no spews! i gave her boobie both night feeds and bottle again in the morning... so far so good! Although she has now decided to cat nap her way through the day! AGAIN!! she did this yesterday too!!
alicia/Bek - yeah chrissie is SO LOUD too! you can hear her anywhere in the house! and waves her arms and legs like she's possessed!
Bek - re formula/breast do whatever works for you and creates a happy mummy and baby!
nic - i would so report the smell too! use the rats, snakes angel and children don't mix... works a treat!
Trish - DH uses..."it's a phase" line.... arg! wanna kill him sometimes... i know it's probably a phase..hehe but gee at 4am with a spew and clothes to change i really don't want to hear it! hehe
She is putting on heaps of weight and is generall a happy baby! she doesn't even cry that much really..just when she's over tired or hungry! Doesn't even care if her nappy is wet either! i have to check all the time! :( good luck with your son...that's a toughy!
Liz - wow what a sleep!!! Chrissie has been doing that most nights.. about 9:30-4am it's awesome ex cept my boobs feel like they are going to explode afterwards!! hehe
Hey, for those who give EBM.. how much are you giving in the bottle now?... Chrissie still struggles to eat 150ml..
ALSO, how much should she be sleeping... should she still be sleeping the 3-4 hrs during the day after a feed, or should she be awake for some of it and sleeping 2-3hrs in a stint... i'm so confused about all this business!
Sounds normal to me Haroula :) I still get confused even though I am on my 4th LOL
Good morning all
Well what a amazing sleep Olivia had last night. Gave her 100ml of expressed breast milk after her bath and she went to sleep at 8.30 and slept until 4.10am  The best she has ever done I was impressed... I think I will express her night feed from now on if that is how she is going to settle....
Bekz - Olivia is dribbling so much too and trying to shove her fists into her mouth, firstthing I thought of was teething as well ( hoping not) maybe its jus ta stage like Aussienic suggested.
Trish - Your son is being so inconsiderate with behaving that way...One day he will realise the pain and worry he has caused you by behaving this way... :rolleyes:One can only hope:lol:
Liz - They always sleep soundly when you need to go out at a certain time and you always have to wake them to go and feel like a meany for doing so..Sometimes I wish as you do that I could leave Olivia asleep and get MIL around but I can almost guarentee that as soon as I ring her and she is on her way Olivia will wake up making me look like a idiot
Haroula - Hows is the gunky eye going any improvement.. Olivia's is still gunky but has day where it looks better just hoping it will clear up soon.
Aussienic - Man that smell must be gross as its a pity they arn't made to clean it up it is a health hazard to the nieghbours go see your local MP as suggested... Somehting has to be done about it... Glad your little pixie as you call her slept well for you its a pity you woke up a tad grumpy may you had to much sleep which shocked your system
Oh Trish in regarsds to AF mine is coming and going ever so lightly I just hope it dont fully return dreading my monthlies again.
Any way written enough must go get ready my daughters pony is going to my friend for the long term as she has lost interest and my friend wants him so saves me some money on feed and he gets loves and ridden
Have a great day all
yeah.. i kinda get the feeling she is transitioning... trying to work out when she should sleep and when she should play.... but sometimes i tell you it does my head in!
Teena - yeah it looks better most days now.. and it seems to be back to just the one eye again! fingers crossed it goes away!!
Haroula - Re sleep - One of those sleep whisper ladies suggest if a bub needs say 18 hours of sleep per 24 hours, then you count up how many hours bub sleeps for overnight then the rest should be made up over the day time. Now I just have to find out how much sllep a 9wk old bub should be having.
Another suggestion is to try and do a feed, play sleep routine. So feed bub, then let her play and check for tired signs around the 2 hour mark after bub first wakes.
To this point neither of the above has worked for Loren...but I am trying to get her into some form of routine.
Liz - I always have a shocking day with Loren when it is time to poo!!!
Nic - I am trying to express but I only get around 40mls for both boobs.
just copied this from a site I get all my info from ( hope I am allowed to do that) this is for a 9 week old bub
How your baby's growing
In a word -- fast. From now on she may gain almost 1kg a month. You'll probably notice that she stays awake longer too -- some babies this age are awake for up to 10 hours a day. Your baby's also getting stronger. She still can't hold her head steady, but you might notice her keeping it up for a few seconds at a time. Other changes include the ability to focus on objects 17-20 cm away, and track them as you move them from side to side. She might also glance at her own hand when you do this. Being able to "regard" her hand, as development experts call this activity, is the first stage in reaching out and grabbing things.
I definetly don't remember Olivia being awake for 10 hours.. On the odd bad day yes.. Even now she isn't awake that much....
Bek - that makes sense about the sleep! but how much SHOULD they be sleeping in a day is hard to work out..i guess all babies are different!
nic - Chrissie already holds her head pretty steady... i don't need to hold it much anymore..only when she is REALLY tired! hmm 10 hrs a day.... well mine is usually awake for 5 hrs in the afternoon alone..from 3ish - 9ish!! hmmm wish she would distribute that during the day though... she doesn't stay awake very long after a feed..
Oh she's discovered herself in the mirror too!! i thought it was too early for that, but she focuses on herself already!
Kayla's corrected age is about 7 weeks.. and she's holding her head pretty steady! I sit her on my lap and she watches Tallon play, and I've started carrying her on my hip LOL. She does flop a bit now & then, but she manages! Perhaps being prem she's had more practice with her head? heh. She's been smiling for the last couple of weeks so that's on time. There's no way she's awake for 10 hours.. that sounds a lot. Altho I might be surprised if I were to add it up I spose. She can focus a lot further than 20cm too. She hasn't really discovered her hands yet.. she does suck on them if they happen to find her mouth lol.. but not deliberately yet.
Liz - how much does Kayla weigh now?! That's great that you can carry her on your hip! i can't wait to be able to do that too!
She's 5.7kg now (bare). She's averaged out her weight now I think.. not the whopper that she used to be!
I don't have a choice carrying her on my hip sometimes.. easier when dealing with Tallon. hehe. She feels too long to cradle her with only one arm.
WOW.. way to go Kayla!
Chrissie is over 5kg now..and i find it hard to cradle her now.. in fact she doesn't like it anymore..! Having one hand free would be fab!! :D
I have just found a really good table with the suggested amount of sleep a baby needs at different ages. I have copied it from a website to an word document.
Am I allowed to post is here or should I email it to anyone who wants to have a look?
I carry Olivia on my hip sometimes but facing outwards. She gets tired of being held close especially when it is so hot. Olivia has always had a pretty steady head. at her 8 week needles the Dr and nurse stood there watching her amazed at how she held her head LOL..
I am still in shock my little girl is over 12 weeks. i mean when did that happen?? (if anyone says tuesday I will cyber slap you :P)
I was just saying to Dh last night just how easy things are now. it only took close to 3 months but hey we survived :) I am sure there will be more crappy days and nights to come but they are less painful and further apart..
yay for our babies
Bek: posted while i was :) If you aren't allowed to post can you PM it to me as I would be quite interested
WOW Nic 12wks already!!!! Time really flys.
Nic I have tried to copy the table to the pm message box but the table does not merge correctly. Can I email it to you?
If you don't want to share your email address with all I will pm you my email and you can pass it on that way.
BTW - HAPPY VALENTINES DAY
Not a problem.. ethisa@iprimus.com.au :) thanks
Well screaming gassy baby.. Poor bub has a bell;y ache for some reason.. I think it woke her from her nap cus she is might grumpy
