Mrs B I hear you my xh was in the Navy for 12 years so we moved around ALL the time I think the longest we were ever in one spot was 18mths... sadly we moved even more when he got out and worked the mines,( 4 times in the last 12 mths ) hence why I dont have meny IRL friends, its a hard life been a defence wife... I hope you can make some good friends soon... sorry to say sounds like your just going to ride this out, it will get better and easier I promise... but look into sleep school anyway, as they might be able to help or give you tip on how to settle everytime... I know sometimes the defence woman are hard to crack but join the playgroup woman cant help but talk to a new mum with such a little baby they will all cluck over her... Go to the FLO's and tell them if your having a hard time making friend getting out with a new bub and they normally have a" go to lady ' someone who is easy going and who will help you settle in, someone you might be able to meet before going to PG... I know PGs are for older kids but when I moved to Darwin with my 1st baby I was 21 he was 6 weeks it was a life saver, I am still BF with one of the ladies I met there, so give it a go...

Something to make you all smile... PK had his 1st number 3 tonight he hadnt done any poo all day and was very grumpy... then while he was on his matt we all heard a HUGE pop... the nappy couldnt hold it all, it was up his back and out his legs lol so of to the shower we went as when I picked him up I didnt realise it was so very big so I got covered in it too... the older winkies thought it was very funny...

Caixin IRL means in real life... I am in glen waverely... would love mums club... i am hoping to get dd2 into daycare 2 days a week this term then it will be just me and pk... much easier when everyone else only has one lol

S has had one hellish day. I hear about bubs falling asleep on their own & gosh I wish S would do this. She will only do it in the sling or car seat sometimes if the car is moving, she screams when it stops. I can't just put her down and she will sleep.
Today I got nothing done, she wasn't even happy in the sling, and screamed even more anytime I sat down. My back was killing me' from standing holding her. I wish she could lie in her swing or on her mat happily etc. Every night we have the same screaming match where she fights sleep. My baby is such hard work, I hope she gets better soon.
I did nothing but held her all day.

Babyluv: I'm with you!!! C is such hard work!! She is wide awake and has been since about 7pm. And no signs of her getting sleepy anytime soon! She just will not settle no matter what we do. Even holding her she still screams! I hope she goes to sleep on the boob!!!

MrsBexie: oh Hun, I've been there, felt that, what you're going through is just so hard. I wish I lived near you I'd come over so you could get some rest. Sleep deprivation is horrendous & so much worse when you have a screaming baby & you don't know why.
Maybe she is going through a growth spurt. I don't really know what suggestions to offer because I know you've tried everything.
Is it the reflux scream? Or just an I won't settle cry?
Is she wanting to feed constantly? Maybe she is still hungry.
I don't know Hun :(
Just want to give you a huge hug, it will be ok Hun, just remember she will sleep sometime. When she does though make sure you sleep too, no cleaning just look after yourself.

Oh honey you are not horrible You are just exhausted and frustrated! I promise it will get better, and you will have an adorable lil munchkin that doesn't scream all the time! Maybe new dawn's sleep school suggestion is worth checking out? I took N when she was a baby and was exactly like C, it was great we learnt loads of settling techniques and it was live in for a week so i actually got some sleep! I wish it hadn't been a million years ago though and i could actually remember what i learnt since Xan could do with learning to sleep! Anyway massive :hug: sweetie and remember if it's all too hard let me know and i'll jump in the car and come out any time xx

Mrs Bexie - Ok, I'm typing this 1 handed with a screaming bub in my arms too so I know how hard it is when they won't stop sceaming/crying, but I don't know what it's like when that is non stop. You are doing a great job hun and I know it's hard for you there as you don't have a lot of support. I wished I lived closer too so I could come over and give you a break. I think you need to speak to someone for advice. Do you have a maternal child health hotline in Qld? Look them up and check - in Victoria they have a 24 hour helpline. If not, the Australian breastfeeding association have a help line on 1800 686 2 686. I've heard they don't only deal with breastfeeding issues so if you want somene to talk to to reassure yourself try them. Or have you got a helpful GP to make sure there's nothing else going on making her cry so much, or anyone in the army who can provide some support? I wish I could help, it really breaks your heart when yoiu can't settle them and you don't know why they're crying. I hope you have a better day today. I'll check back in here later.

I have my first mothers group this afternoon, so am off to settle my boy then hopefully back to sleep for me too for a little bit.

K IS TEETHING!!!!!!!
So panadol last night and i have a perfect bub :) had a good feed last night, bed at 10-11 and woke at 3:30...Had a good feed then woke at 6:30 had another good feed and is still asleep now!

I just knew he was teething :)

Bex :hug::hug: like the others said i wish i lived closer and could give you a hand. I don't even know what to suggest. Like babyluv said could she be hungry still if she is falling asleep alot on the boob? Would you consider giving her a formula top up just to see if it makes a difference? Or give those sleep schools a ring. I called one yesterday and they were lovely. She basically told me not to worry about getting baby into bad habits as they don't start getting patterns till bout 12 wks old so whatever works but seeing as though nothing is working they may be able to give you some more techniques to try. Just remember you are doing a great job and are a fantastic mother!!! xxxxx

Caixin - thanks yeah she does like music, she has a mobile above her cot that makes nature noises or heartbeats which she will tolerate for a bit! She did have a great night last night though.

Well i after my rant last night Ava slept from 9 till 4.30 this morning (sorry bex!) she had worn herself out. She has also gone back to sleep this morning which is a first she must have been exhausted. It is soo hot here. They are saying high 30's and low 40's all week till next monday!!! My poor electricity bill!!!!

Mrs B I hope you got some sleep last night today... Do you have any family member that could fly up and help you out for a while... If you ask the FLO's they might even be able to swing it to get the defence to pay for the flight... Do go see them they are a great help to you when you need them... Its so hard when we dream about our little people for 9 mths and then when they come they arent quite like what we thought they would be... there isnt anything else I can do or say but know we are all here for you anytime you want to vent, this is you save place...

Babylov yep I can walk to both the Glen and brandon park... Maybe we could meet next thursday ( 10th ) as then my kids will be at school. I have to take my DD1 to the doctor at 330 so sometime in the morning would be good... PM me and we can work it all out with who ever wants to meet...

PK actully slepted for 4 hrs last night it was soooooo nice, what a good boy...

Kirsten: I love the cake it's so gorgeous how can you bear to eat it? Ivy is such a little dream baby, I'm so jealous of you having 9 hrs of sleep. Never thought it was possible in such a young bub but there!

Babyluv: Does S fall asleep on her own at night or at all? Your poor arms n back must be in need of a massage. I've heard it will get better eventually.

Mrs Bexie: :hug: Oh dear dear. You're not a horrible person, in fact u're the best mum C can have. I'm sure she loves you the most. Maybe try calling someone? I've called the MCHN helpline 132229 n broken down crying before but they were really nice. I've also called my hospital MW before too. It's always reassuring to talk to someone. Otherwise you could call me too, just PM me for my number.

Sunnygirl: Enjoy mother's group! I better ask my MCHN abt mother's group coz I haven't got one yet.

Renee: Bless Ava for sleeping last night! Poor little girl she must have been exhausted. I guess they have to go to sleep eventually isn't it? Hope u're feeling a little bit more refreshed! How does Ava do in the heat? Claire hates it so I'm going to get a shock when my next bill comes too.

Another hot day. C was awake and screaming last night from 8-11pm but she must have exhausted herself coz for the first time in wks she slept for 4 hrs! Then it was back to feeding every 2 hrs again. Went for a mini walk today and she seemed to like the bumpy ride in the pram. It was too hot and sunny to walk much further than 10 mins, might try walking in the evenings instead. At least I'm feeling slightly refreshed from the 4 hr sleep I had last night, FX it can be repeated tonight again.

Oh bex it will get better! Do you have a gym or pool you could go to - they usually have a crèche you could leave Charlotte for an hour and go for a swim or mild workout or spa? Or if not, I think it's time you called that friend with the broken marriage that you were there for when she needed someone and tell her you need the favor returned, as long as C is fed And there's someone there there's no reason you can't walk away for a little while.

Mizqtie: woah teeth already, will you still BF? I'm guessing teeth and nipples don't go too well together lol. Poor little Kaiden!

Keli: great to hear from you, and such awesome positive news too! Sounds like both you and Olive are doing amazingly well :D I'm not technically sposeta be in this group either, G wasn't even born in dec so at least your in the right month!!!

Georgi: on the chance you might pop in and see this, was just wondering how Csab is?

Kaylee: don't worry I'm struggling with in between clothes too, but with all our bodies recovering from major trauma you have to be easy on yourself. If you can just go buy 1 outfit that fits you nicely now, you'll feel better wearing something that fits comfortably and looks good now.

Kirsten: happy birthday Quinn!!! Did he enjoy the party? Good on Ivy for sleeping so well! Are your nipples starting to heal now?

Well it's taken about 2hrs to write this so I can't remember what anyone else said! Sorry!!
Georgia had her first swim yesterday and loved it, was great to get her ( and myself) in the water :) between that and the big formula feed she had after (I enjoyed a cider with my swim, yay!) she was knackered and slept in her own room in the cot for just over 3 hrs! She has her unsettled times - sometimes days - when she just cries and cries but I feel really lucky to have a bub that settles to music and takes a dummy, those two things have been my sanity savers!

little mrs- well its not teeth coming through it'll be them moving around in his gums preparing for them to come up eventually in months to come, just his gums are irritated by it all and it could go on for ages yet!

I feel sorry for him :(

Your so lucky G takes a dummy, no matter how much i try K wont take one :( unless its been in the freezer!

Thanks girls for the support!! I am feeling better now, she finally fell asleep about 3am on the boob so I just shoved her over to DH and he co-slept with her... she slept till 6:30 so got 3.5 hours sleep. I was honestly going insane. Poor DH had me crying and C screaming... rubbing my back and rocking the bassinet at the same time. I am just glad she finally fell asleep!!! She went back to sleep at around 8am and then woke up at 9:30. She is asleep now finally cause she's been up since 9:30. So we are going on 20 mins asleep! yay!
I am feeling emotionally a bit better than last night. I completely lost it btu I enjoyed a 5 min hug with her this morning before she started crying again and I didn't freak out when she did start either.. I handled it way better. I think it's just hardest at night when I am exhausted and she just won;t settle. Mornings are usually better and I think it's because she is so exhausted from the night.

Does the sleep school cost anything? I don't think I could go away from DH for a week!! He wouldn't be able to come cause of work. :( There would be one in Brissy I am sure, I might look into maybe a day session?

New dawn: I will have to look into contacting a FLO. I didn't know they did stuff like that and offered support! I have found being a defence wife completely supportless so maybe I just don't know where to looK! Wow, going from defence wife to being a miners wife!! That would suck!! How are you doing now anyways? You were looking for a new house to rent weren't you?

Little mrs: The photos of Georgia swimming are soo cute!! She looks like she enjoyed it!! I love the little rash vest, it's gorgeous! Yay to dummy and music!! Once you find things that work, hold on to them!!!! Oh and the girl with the broken marriage lives in Brisbane.. and in her state of mind, I don't want her looking after C and her own son.

Caixin: YAY to 4hrs sleep!!! That is a great sleep!!! The heat must be horrible! Aircon is a lifesaver!!!!! I am so glad it is not hot here cause the house is like a oven and we only have 3 crappy fans!! A 10 min walk would have been lovely considering how long you have been cooped up for! Just take it slow!! With all that's happened you don't want any more set backs! And yes, evening walks would be better!!

Renee: YAY to Ava settling!!! That's great news! Littla darling tuckered herself out!

Babyluv: Hopefully Sienna had an amazing sleep last night!!!! I answered all your Q's above... and I am taking your advice, no housewrok today. I am on the couch on my laptop and C is asleep. I am just relaxing.. :)

New Dawn: I'm in Melbourne too - Port Melbourne. But I'm harder to have around with my 4 year old. Would love to meet up though.

LittleMrs: Yes the dodgy nipple is doing much better, still hurts a little bit when she latches on but nothing like it was and the gaping hole is almost healed now, it's such a joy not to have torn open nipples let me tell you! Quinn loved his party, he's still talking about the cake.

Caixin: I nearly cried when we had to cut the cake, we've kept all of the figurines and the hat part of the cake, which we are going to eat today (his actual birthday). I never thought it was possible for that much sleep either, fingers crossed she's not just lulling me into a false sense of security though! She slept 11:30 till 6 last night which is still fantastic and I feel very very lucky! Ivy loves the pram too, I'm pretty happy that the cool change has come through, although it did blow my washing line over into the garden :)

Renee: what a great sleep Ava had. Bet you feel like a new person. It's amazing how a block of sleep makes you feel so much better.

SunnyGirl: good luck with your mothers group, hope you get a good one!! Mine was a huge help in the early days :D

Babyluv: I hope Sienna has been sleeping well for you!!

AFM: first day with 2 kids on my own has been going really well so far, fingers crossed DS keeps up the lovely behaviour. I can't imagine it will last, but he does start kinder tomorrow so that might change things a bit. Ivy is doing well, no 9 hour sleep last night, but the 6 1/2 hours was great too. Love to all!

Hun we went to a day session & it didn't cost us anything & lunch & afternoon tea were provided.

Little mrs: I love the pictures of Georgia swimming! Absolutely lovely in her swimsuit. :) I so glad for you that music and the dummy works. At least you always know what you can fall on when the usual carrying and talking to doesn't work. Love the cider with the swim. I was craving a beer the other day but need to build up my supply of EBM first before I can have one. Haven't been expressing since I've been on ABs.

Mrs Bexie: Yay for C finally sleeping! I'm glad you enjoyed a hug with her this morning. They are so precious and priceless aren't they? A little sleep certainly goes a long way to preserving our sanity. I think you'd have to pay for the private sleep schools but if you have private health insurance they would cover most of the cost. There's also public ones but longer waiting periods. Not sure what's available in Brissy. There's day programs and 5 day stay in programs here in melbourne.

Kirsten: Look at you! Finally back in the loop :) LOL on wanting baby out then baby back in. So true sometimes! Awww.... are you really going to eat the figurines? Are you going to start with the head or feet? Yay to DS behaving, I'm sure you'll manage beautifully. You should join us for a meet up and bring Quinn along. :) Certainly looking forward to this cool change!

Reading a really nice book now called 'The NO Cry sleep solution', just started but loving it and how it really hits on how I feel sometimes about sleep or rather the lack of. Hoping to pick up some tips on settling. Claire's just having her second nap today, 2 1/2 hrs in already, she's enjoying the air con :) I better go check on my washing, I think some of it might be in my neighbour's garden!

Just a quick one from me, took G for another swim today in one of the proper swim nappies. Even tho it says 7kg it still fit fine and did the job, so thinking if it fits her then Xani, Ivy and definitely Ava should be fine in them!

Had the HCN come out today, another 11 days and another 600grams! She's now 5.14kg and 55.5cm long so that's 5.5cm and 1.2kg in 1 month :) I really think giving her the 1 formula a day has helped with all that growing, she's been using every little bit of milk to grow!
