Babies Born December 2010

Shelly: I have heard good things about the teething powder which is why I bought the colic powder, I actually bought it before Ivy was born, so that was a piece of luck, I couldn't believe how well it worked (well i could because Weleda stuff is excellent - go Steiner). 8 hours sleeping! That's fantastic!! Go you little monster!! aren't those morning boobs horrible, mine get all big and shiny and Ivy can hardly latch on because they're too full :D

Bexie: after using the colic powder I would recommend it, it worked so quickly when nothing else would after 5 hours. Ivy has a few outfits that have ruffly bums on them :) she's not big enough for them yet, and I have a friend who has 2 boys and she loves ruffley bums and thinks Ivy needs many many ruffley bums. Housewarming sounds crapola if you were feeling all queasy and your DH is being a crank ar$ehole (:rofl:)

AFM: well I was a snack bar all night last night, every hour and a half Ivy was "hungry" which meant she wanted to have a snack and sleep in our bed and I was too tired to argue with her, she is still in our bed now, but starting to wake up.

ROFL Mrs B I didnt think you were a stripper... I hope your night out got a little better, I hate been out when all you want to do is to go home... As for drinking I not a big drinker anyway so oroberley wait until PK is off the boob or until he is 12mths which ever comes first.... Its not like I am actully going out anywhere too drink right now, I have a very dull social life...

Caixin, I didnt end up going to the CNY :( Its too cold/windy, and not too mention it keeps raining on and off.. very dissapointed...

kirsten, PK was like that too last night... lucky they are so cute...

AFM I am so cold today, have to say its one thing I really dont like about melbourne, Iwant my hot sticky weather back! lol, PK was so grumpy yesterday all because he had not done a poop, lol he ended up doing two smallish ones last night, and a HUGE one this morning...
Oh and for the last two mornings PKs nappies have leaked! so he ends up wetting my bed and his PJs but I think its my fault as when I take his wet nappy off he willie is not pointing down lol must remember to point it down even in my half sleep...

lets hope we get to see summer come back soon I am no way ready to say good bye to her yet...

ND: lol to wanting the heat back, once a territorian always a territorian! I'm the same, can't stand the cold, and by cold I mean anything less than 25 degrees! Boo to leaky nappies, I'm glad I don't have to worry about that one!

Bex: any luck with the nappy rash? Every mum I know swears by sudocream, I've been given a couple of tubs by friends and have used it a few times, it's good stuff! Aw sucks about your bad night out, I've had a few drinks a couple of times and just made sure I had EBM or formula for G, but it's easier for me coz I can feed her a bottle and settle her with a dummy. Otherwise afternoon drinks are good, we had friends over for a beer nice and early around 3pm and I BF, then had 3 ciders, bottlefed at dinner time and was able to BF again for the bedtime feed around 9:30.

Kirsten: how did Quinns banana and rain cake turn out? Lol he is too cute!

Argh I hate using my phone for this, it doesn't showe any other posts and by the time I've replied to one person I've forgotten who else wrote what!! Can't even blame pg brain anymore lol. I was given a cloth nappy thats shaped like a disposable one just with Velcro bits to do it up, put it on G for the first time today and she seems very comfy and cool in it, if it passes the poop test I might have to find some more I think! Oh and she's grown out of 0000 clothes already! Boo, didn't even get to wear them all!!

New Dawn: And yes it's very lucky they are so cute :D Oh the pointing down thing is so very important :rofl: I remember with DS always having to point down or everything would get wet. It is freezing today isn't it, the wind is too cold. I'm wearing trackie pants and socks even!

Little Mrs: The banana and rain cake (with no bananas in it) was just delicious thanks :) Considering all of the ingredients were invisible and cooked in a pretend kitchen, it was really good! Oooh cloth nappies are the best. Ivy's nappies are all snap closers, but we had velcro ones with DS :) Ivy wasn't even in 0000's, she is mostly in a singlet and nappy anyway. Funny how baby clothes are like adult clothes and some 0000's are big and some tiny...so annoying. I hate it when they grow out of clothes without even wearing them :( You don't need to blame pg brain, you can now blame baby brain :) and that lasts for YEARS! So keep the excuses coming :rofl:

Mrs Bexie: Wow to getting ABs in like 2-3 weeks! I'll have to look into pole dancing too. Though I'm a little scared about having to dance in skippy shorts, don't like to show my monster thighs atm. :P The wrap me up swaddle looks good, I got the ergococoon in the end to try, heard it's good too but if it doesn't work out than I'll try the wrap me up. Love the ruffles! Not sure that the shorts will be much good for the current melb weather though. Otherwise I'd love to get them. Bummer on not being able to enjoy the housewarming party, they can be such a handful sometimes isn't it?

New Dawn: Ooh good on PK liking the HAB and sleeping in it! So useful. I've seen pictures of them before and they certainly look very comfy for a newborn. Don't worry about appearances of ur home, mine isn't up to scratch at all and I haven't got other winkies to mess it up. The weather today certainly isn't the best to be out in Chinatown, much better to be indoors.

Kirsten: A nappy change does wake Claire up coz she hates it but then she falls straight back to sleep once I finish the change like I've never done it! Good that you've got something on hand that works well. Maybe she's going through the next growth spurt again with all that feeding.

Shellybean: What a gem for sleeping 8 hrs! That's really impressive. I'm still waiting for mine to give me 4 hours any night. Oh on the exploding boobs, mine can get quite bad sometimes that they start spurting on their own with a gentle touch. What a mess!

Little mrs: LOL I feel the same with the baby brain, having to ask people to repeat what they say all the time. I hate having clothes not worn too. Claire's got lots of 0000 summer outfits that she hasn't had a chance to wear too. We were wearing a new outfit every day while it was hot and yet she hasn't worked through them.

Met up with some friends for lunch today and they brought their 10 month old. They are so much fun at that age, so curious and wanting to grab everything and go everywhere! Claire was so fascinated by the lights at the shopping centre that she wouldn't sleep at all even though she was yawning her head off. She wouldn't lie down either, just wanted to be propped upright so she could see everything. Then she crashed when we got home and is still sleeping, only woke up for a poo just now. LOL. I'm enjoying the cool weather for now and Claire loves it too. She sleeps so much better. When does everyone bath their bubs? In the mornings or evenings?

Aww darling!!! I sooooo wish I could be there for you right now! I have no advice cause I am sure you hve heard it all... Just know that you are doing amazing! It must be soo tough! I know how upset I get when Charlotte screams, so having sienna soo upset all the time must really really suck!
Definitely try to get her into the pead and don't give up until they try something else!!!!
Keep your chin up and make sure you keep coming in here to vent ok? No hiding or not talking to us. We love you and want to support you the best we can.

Do you give her Formula??? If so how does she go, eg settles her for hour's???

If this is the case have you thought maybe shes not getting enough milk from you to satisfy her

IN NO WAY DO I WANT THIS TO SOUND NASTY

Im purely asking due to reading the ABA website on "how do you know your baby is not getting enough?" and constantly screaming/hungry all the time is a big thing for not having enough milk supply

Also have u tried some Panadol? if this settles her maybe she is in pain from something

Mizqtie: thankyou :) Yes she is getting enough, it Is not hungry cries, when she doesn't get enough from me' she gets a top up of EBM or formula. I'd prefer not to give her panadol for an ongoing issue as I think this would just be masking the problem & not actually solving it.
I think she may need a higher dose of Zantac as I'm thinking as she's getting bigger it's not working as well.
She seems to have taken a few steps back as she was doing slot better.

Babyluv: :hug: Sienna is so very lucky to have such a wonderful mum, trying so hard to help her. Poor little tyke and poor mum too. I really really really hope that you can find what's wrong with the poor little thing. One theory (and this is just a theory I've read) is that with night screaming they have wind build up over the whole day so if you don't get all the burps out first thing in the morning and at every feed after that that it builds up to really bad wind pain at night. But I'm not sure if that is possible with Sienna because she is on zantac. Doesn't the zantac treat that? Anyway just a theory that I read about. I really hope you get some answers soon and as Bexie said, please keep coming back in here to vent and get some hugs :)

Caixin: awww Claire is such a cute sleepy baby :) I think Ivy is having another growth spurt, they do it at 6 weeks don't they??? She is 6 weeks today - oh my goodness the time flies, sometimes I look at her and she looks like she has grown overnight! The cool weather is lovely isn't it? We bath Ivy at night, but not everyday, usually every 3 or 4 days, we are doing the water conditioning too, it was in the DVD that was in the bounty bag, when you pour the water over their heads, we didn't do that with DS, but are doing it with Ivy :D She just LOVES her baths!

AFM: where did my 9 hour sleeping baby go?? :( she was awake at 1:30 and 5:30 for feeds last night, I just let her sleep in our bed because I was too tired to get up, so just fed her lying down. I have a bit of a headache now, and am really, DS had kinder this morning (which went really well again) and so that was a lot of driving (40 minutes each way) luckily Ivy slept the whole time from when we left the house to when we got back at midday.

I really don't have any suggestions either it sounds like you have tried everything. I hope the paed has some answers for you. We are all here for you so don't feel bad venting we all need to at times.

Just quickly, I started to bleed bright red blood at 4 weeks too! It was only light though, not like at the start and only for a few days.. Keep your eye on it!

Babyluv: Aww :hug: It's so hard when they keep crying and you don't know what to do isn't it? Sounds like you've tried almost everything. Are you getting any rest at all? Have you thought about trying sleep school? I've got a friend who had a difficult baby and went to sleep school at Mitcham. She found it really good and learnt a lot about settling and reading her baby more.

Kirsten: Yup I think they do have a growth spurt at 6 wks. It's almost like every 4 wks. Claire did the feed every 2 hr thing for 2 days and it's worked coz my boobs are so full now esp at night! Hope Ivy starts to sleep better once she's over her spurting again. Yay to Ds liking school! What a drive for you 40 mins just to go to school. Glad Ivy was good in the car. Do you just pour a small amount of water over her head in the bath?

Renee: LOL on the poo explosion! Time really flies doesn't it? Claire's already 6 wks. OMG. I really don't know where the 6 weeks went. Just seems like yesterday when we met here on BB. Re the bleeding, just keep an eye on it. Could just be normal as long as it isn't too heavy. If it gets heavy then do call ur MW. AF is quite unlikely if u're BF exclusively.

Had a fantastic night of 3 hourly feeding instead of every 2 hrs. She's been a sleepy head all day today, not sure if it's because it's nice and cool or if it's because she's finished her growth spurt or if she's just being nice to mummy :) She slept all morning, only getting up to feed at 8am, 9am, 11.30am. Falling straight back to sleep each time. Even stayed asleep in the pram at the shops, woke up briefly on the way back and is now sleeping again. I'm hoping it doesn't mean she's going to be a night owl!

Kirsten: The Zantac stops the acid from building up in her tummy, don't think it helps with wind. Funny you say that because she has been farting all afternoon so maybe it was wind last night. I've given her infacol today & did lots of cycling & massaged her tummy and she did a huge poo explosion so hopefully she feels better. I must admit I got a bit slack with the cycling etc as she was doing so well.
Hopefully Ivy was just having a one off last night & you get your nine hr sleeps back :) I'm pretty sure they do say growth spurt happens around 6 weeks.

Renee: Has the bleeding eased off at all? Maybe it is AF, I got mine at 6 weeks. I guess if it gets heavy go and see your doc :)

Caixin: Good to hear C is being such a good girl. We went to sleep school a cpl weeks ago but the techniques don't really help when she is screaming like that. Today however though I managed to get her to sleep on the couch while I was sitting there. Only for 1/2 hr but it's progress.

AFM: woke S, changed her etc to have our mchn app, got their & the centre was closed because of the floods. I got a really cute taggy blanket from made it dot com, it came in the mail today :)
Oh & I weighed myself today & I am 67.5kgs :( 10kgs to go & I want to do it in 10 weeks!

Kirsten: Just when you think you have them worked out they change!! Boo to not sleepign 9hrs again!

Caixin: YAY to getting 3hr stretches now!! Claire must been getting big now with all the feeding!!

Babyluv: You are 1.5kgs skinnier than me so don't worry!!! I will tryn to keep you accountable! I just find it sooo hard to exercise with Charlotte cause she cracks it when I try to walk! Although I really should put her in the ergo and use the treadmill like you suggested. How is Sienna doing tonight? Any better?

I have gone nuts with ruffles. I bought 2 pairs, pre ordered another and my SIL who got here today has bought her 1 pair and wants to buy another but we are still deciding which one to get! There are some new ones coming on 22nd feb by a seller so might wait till then. LOL.. Thanks shelly!!!
Charlotte has been alright today, a bit unsettled but I finally got her to sleep!
It's great to have my SIL here! She is one of my best friends and I have missed her so much! But cause Dh's other sister needs Becca back in Canberra she is only staying till wednesday now instead of friday! :( DH has the day off tomorrow so not sure what we are going to do yet... hopefully it's a nice day!

Oh and I just won another headband!! Having a girl is SO MUCH FUN... if only she would be a happy baby and smile or something!
Are we the only ones who haven't gotten a smile yet?! I feel sad that she isn't happy enough to smile.

Boy to much talk i am a bit lost lol, just a quick one from me PK has belly pain all day today has done some mega poops poor little baby, he wont let me put him down, fingers crossed he is better tomorrow.. its weighing day tomorrow, wonder how big he is getting...

little Mrs your right there I love the heat would love to go back to the tropic's just end up missing my family too much, I remember breaking out the winter woolie when it got to 27 up there lol, now I am so excitied to see 27 my summer clothes come out, still I seem to be the only one who is away cold, when they all swear it warm :)

babyluv *loads of hugs* thats all i can offer :( I really hope everything sorts it self out soon with S! You are a fantastic mum! I still weigh 70kg and need to lose another 10 before i can get back to my pre preg weight!!

Renee, I didnt have any bleeding at 4 weeks but my midwife did tell me that it would get heavy around about then, all i have is a tiny amount but its actually yellow! i see my doctor next week and will ask her then :/ *hugs* It was heart wrenching, I dont want to know what im going to be like when he gets older and when he plays sports or do stupid things at school!

Bexie, this is the reason why i so wanted to have a girl!! Dress Dress Dress! Boys are definetely harder to dress, but i put him in bright colourful clothes to cheer me up. The way I got Liam to smile is to watch out for his pay attention time which is usually just before he screams for his feed, and when he is laying still awake, I always smile at him while we are BFing and when i gaze into his eyes. Now he just automatically smiles at me when i look at him! It is definetely rewarding even though i really dont feel like smiling at him when he screams in my ear, bites my nipples or pulls my hair!

caixlin, that sounds fantastic, i have mastered to lay down breastfeeding, so convenient for the so tired nights, just pop him on and go straight to sleep, athough its not doing my neck any good!

Kirsten, I hope you get your 9 hour baby back! Does she cluster feed all day after that? having a kinder 40 mins away is a bit much, or were you held up by all the roadworks cause of the floods?

Well, I think L is having a growth spurt, he has sucked me dry and had two bottles of formula, just gave him a nice warm bath, lathered him up with a whole heap of sleepy baby lotion, went to make another bottle of formula to find him fast asleep. he was just screaming his head off a second before i walked back into the loungeroom! I did have an Italian lullaby on called Ninna nanna and it must have worked like a treat!!
he has been awake for most of the day, he has been cooying and being very happy on his playmat and having lots of cuddles and lots of feeding.
hopefully he will sleep through the night now! My boobs need to recover!

I need to catch up on some housework!

MrsBexie: I didn't get a real smile from S until she was 6 weeks. I smile at her all the time, when we bf etc She is happy enough to smile it just takes time she will do it & melt your heart when she does. I so want some of those frilly knickers, they're so pretty. I saw the headbands with the interchangeable clip on bows etc and they're so pretty too :)

KayleeF: You'll get there with the weightloss! You can do it :) You, me & Bex all have roughly the same amount to lose I think so we should def encourage & motivate each other. I have a wedding in 9 weeks, I'm a bridesmaid so 1kg a week should do it. I don't want to be the fat bridesmaid!!!

Kirsten: I think you may be right about the wind. She has been so farty today, could it be something I ate causing farts? She has been doing them most of the arvo/night, in between screaming going bright red & tucking her knees up but last night was diff she wasn't doing any of those things. I gave her infacol earlier & some gripe water before.

AFM: Sienna has been screaming the past 2 hrs. She even had more Zantac today. But 2 hrs is better than 4! I came into her room about 5 mins ago & it's nice n dark. Rocking in the chair & I downloaded a sounds app on my phone and have the beach one turned up as loud as it will go. It's just waves crashing. I think she zonked within 2 mins of me turning it on! It may be just a coincidence though.
