Ali, lather on some lansinoh to prevent the pads from sticking. You're doing well going on outings already - I've only made it up the street to the MCHN and the doctors
AJP, well done on getting back into the jeans! I foolishly tried on the most "generous" pair I had the other day...they didn't even go past my thighs
OP, I agree it definitely is easier to just stick em on the boob when in doubt!
shell & AJP, thanks for your advice - I managed to feed on both sides today  I'm really proud of both of us and it was a true case of mind over matter (well at the beginning it wasn't but I've kept putting it off telling myself my nipple wasn't ready yet!). Trying to attach was a nightmare though as I was so terrified of doing it wrong I kept pulling back. Not to worry though, it went better than I thought :)
Ellie, hope those feeds settle down for both of us!
Det, wow feeding the twins sounds like a real workout! Things must seem so easy this time around.
Hi Megie, Nai & everyone else :hello:
Hoping for a better night tonight
-
Still haven't put him down except the 1/2 hr drive to the MIl house.. ended up cosleeping last night - gave up at 12 trying get him to settle gotta go he's complaining again!
-
Tarkine- Do you have a sling or something you could put him in in the day? Will help settle him as well as allow you to do things. Maybe too you could hire hammock, we're thinking about hiring one, meant to be great for unsettled bubs.
Holly- Yay on the feeding! Glad it went well, should boost your confidence too each time.
My Df too is out sleeping in spare room and bubs is in with me, so much easier cause I don't have to get up then to feed/ settle and Df gets a good night sleep so he can do all the cooking/ cleaning- thats the deal we have while I'm up at night.
Melb meet sounds great all the bubs can cry and cluster feed together, lol.
I wish miss Em would go to sleep so I can try have early night, wanted to watch sound relief tho wish I could've gone.
-
Tarkine, I second the sling - I have a Hug-a-Bub and J slept in it on me for 2 hours yesterday.
I have found that J is not only windy but also quite chucky :( Often I will pick her up, she will do a burp and a vomit and then be ok - it's not usually very much. I don't think it's reflux as she is pretty happy about it all but she does seem to vomit more than G ever did. I am constantly walking around with a cloth nappy over my shoulder which isn't a good look.
-
Tarkine, definitely get a sling/carrier! We have a hug a bub and Leon loves it. He just loves to be held close and it allows you to keep getting things done.
Shell, my DP is sleeping upstairs while I'm downstairs. He's no help to me anyway...we tried sleeping all together so he could help me but he sleeps through everything and is so disoriented when I wake him up for help. He'll be like "what, huh, where?" I ask him to get me some warm water and he goes rummaging through Leon's drawers... Also he starts work at 4am so I don't need him waking me up (although most often than not I'm already up!) Hope Em is falling asleep as I type this!
Okay while Leon is sleeping I'm really going to try and get some shut eye.

Hello my name is Odette and I am a Sound Relief Concert Widow - lol
DH went to the concert today - some boy time!! He never goes out to have time for himself so was wrapped that he did- but man the twins are doing my head in tonite!!!!
Levi has been a dream and was asleep in his cot at 7.30pm - dont ask me how??? Maybe he had enough of the twins are well.
They have both been smart a*ses with their mouths- fair ****um they are lucky their heads are still on their shoulders tonite!! Sent them to bed at 7.30pm for being rude and naughty and THEY ARE STILL AWAKE!!!!
If i was a big drinker, i would've hit the bottle by now- grrrrr! ah well a cup of tea will have to do!
I was gonna ask you girls where to get cloth breast pads from, but you girls answered my question- so maz is the woman!!! My boobs leak like sprinklers and i manage to fully soak and kill 2 breast pads every 12 hours!!! I bought a box today and nearly freaked $8 for 30!!! Had been given the other packets that i had- If my boobs wernt so big to start with, I would stick tissues there instead!!!
Cool that you girls are up for a meet. Do you want to wait till hte little ones are a bit bigger or soon? Only thing is if we wait longer the weather might start to get colder- but hey who knows in melb. Any ideas where a central place would be. I'm in the north-east suburbs-but happy to go where its central - any ideas???
back to concert watching . .. and listening to the twins still GRRRRRRR
-
im out east but happy to meet anywhere, i will leave sophie with my parents though! soon sounds good!!
i have two boxes of disposible breastpads if anyone wants them! pm me your details and ill mail then out!!
det sophie was terrible today, major meltdowns, in bed by 6.30 and already woken twice which is soooooo unlike her :o scared at what the night will hold
holly glad the feeding went better today!
tarkine  hun, maybe get alex checked out by an osteo and see if maybe something is out of whack
nai hope the chucking settles for you.
shell hi hun!!
-
I probably live the furthest away out in Gisborne. But my parents live in the East suburbs. I am happy to meet wherever. I am used the travelling.
Sorry gotta keep this short, but we have peopleover at the moment. watching the sound relief concert.
-
where do your parents live meg???
we had a good night fed at 8.30pm, 1am, 5am and 7am
-
Tarkine - as AJP suggested an osteo might help but make sure it is one who specialises in babies.
Cr@p night here - feeding every 2 hours then DD1 woke up whinging for mummy at 7am after I had just fed J at 6am :(
For a meet up I'm inner city so can pretty much meet anywhere but maybe something central or close to public transport would be good?
-
AJP- My parents are in Mitcham. I lived East for 26 years, before DH convinced me to move this way.
Tarkine - i don't know what state you are in, but my sister is an osteopath who specialised in babies. She is in the Eastern subs of Melb
-
I'd come to a meet! I'm in the south-east, somewhere close to public transport is good - I don't have a car.
Had a pretty good night last night. Leon fed at 9:30pm, 10:45pm, 2:00am, 5:30am and 7:30am and he settled back to sleep so well after each feed
He is growing so fast. He is already too big for his 0000 clothes and he can't wear some of his mittens anymore as the elastic has gotten too tight. My chubby bubby!
Det, glad to hear Levi settled down early and quickly unlike the twins! Hope they didn't stay awake for too much longer.
AJP, how did Sophie go overnight? Millie's feeding pattern sounds like Leon's (apart from his snack at 10:45).
Nai, hope you can get a rest today.
How long does everyone's bubba's feed for? Leon will only feed for 5-10 minutes but will gulp it all down. It's just suck suck suck and hardly any time to breathe! My boob will feel pretty empty after but it just seems too quick. Is this normal? I can only offer him one side per feed as he is too out of it and full after his burp to go back for seconds.

Em finally settled after 11, she always seems to have her unsettled time late arvo/ evening. So Df was out last night I had Em wanting to cluster feed and crying while trying to get a toddler ready for bed, felt bad for poor Ash cause kept having to go to Em and trying to read Ash her bedtime story and have Em screaming. Was very stressful and nightmare. Told Df from now on he can have his boys night out AFTER Ash is in bed. Of course in night too I'm feeding Em and Ash wakes up crying wish there were 2 of me!
Holly- Em will go no longer than 10 mins and then usually 5-10 on other side depending on how hungry she is. I always thinking is it enough. ETA: I just realised you don't live far from me, I'm in Bentleigh.
Nai- I have to say I am lucky with my toddler sleeping in. She never is up before 8. Helps alot with a newborn, hope you get some rest today, get you Dh to look after them while you nap.
Tarkine- If you do decide to buy a sling the hug a bub website has the pocketless ones for $20 off, so $65. I just bought one, they are quite expensive, the ones with pockets are over $100 so thought not worth the extra just for pocket.
Does everyone else stress if bubs are getting enough milk? Em has plenty wet nappies but when she starts cluster feeding and acting starving and my boobs are pretty much empty cause she is on there hourly I start to worry that I'm not providing enough in the evening. Even been tempted to go buy formula and see if she wants top up, but haven't yet, I think I'll see how her weight is at our MCHN appt tomor.
-
meg im in mooroolbark!!
holly millie is almost to big for 000 bonds wondersuits!!! 000 in everything else is fine though!!
these feb babies must like to feed quickly, i think we all have the same issues with fast drinkers!!!
sophie slept through after waking the two times! thankgoodness!!!
shell i feed millie one side, change bum then offer the same side again to make sure she is getting the hindmilk, i offer the otehr if she's looking for it but not very often.
i tell DH the same about going out after sophie is in bed!! its tough when the both need you, we had that yesterday morning!
weighed millie today after her bath and she was 4.5kg on our scales, get her weighed again on thursday. DH is back at work tomorrow :(
-
Glad I'm not the only one with a cluster feeder - sadly he feeds waaaay longer than 5-10minutes. Feels like that's all I do. He just doesn't want to sleep today at all. I have a couple of slings but even they're not working.
We are co-sleeping at the moment - at least I get a bit of sleep. He just won't settle enywhere else.
Ali I second the lansinoh on the nipples. It will improve though. Make sure you let your niples airdry before you pull your bra back up if you can.
Det, the Maz ones are great, though I'm going through a pair about every feed - I hear ya on the sprinkler effect....I wonder if your six year olds could keep my nearly three year old entertained??? We had to put the safety gate up at Nate's room today to stop her going in there.
lol Holly, my boofa is in a 00 tshirt today, and he's nearly out of his new born nappies.
Tarkine, you have my sympathy hun
Shell, yep I worry all the time. My milk settled down really quickly this time, but I figure if it's spilling out of his mouth and he's not sucking any more he's had enough.
-
Had a great first outing. Ashlyn was such a perfect baby even with heaps of niise around. Her unsettld period seems to be in the morning.
She feeds really well from about 11:30am going 3 hourly all the wayu thtough the evening and then at about 4-5am it all goes out the window and she starts cluster feedng and I cant get her to settle without falling asleep on my boob and then I cant move her from there or she'll get upset with me.
Her chord stump fell off last night.
Sorry for selfish post I have to go to sleep now as I have been awake since 4:30am.
On a happier note, my boobs are starting to settle down now. Still need the cold face washers on them at night but much better now.
Jols- Thanks for that offer. That is lovely. I will come back later and PM you my details. xo
-
kim nate just through my theory out the window!!
we put those child proof knobs on millies door to also stop sophie going in there adn yelling "millies awake" or "millies asleep"
ali you must be buggered!! hope you get some sleep
-
AJP - I had heaps of friends in the mooroolbark/Lilydale/Chirnside Park area as I went to school at TIntern. I know the area quite well.
Wow - all this big bubs. E is still well and truly in 0000.
Ali - I hope you get some sleep.
Kim - How is Darcy going with Nate in general?
Shell - I would have been sayin to DF no boys nights till the girls have settled. So he may need to take a few weeks off boys nights, as you need the support.
Holly- E only does 15 - 20 mins ma and usually only 1 side during a feed. That is if she hasn't fallen asleep and is just comfort sucking. MCHN said that as long as you think they are swallowing milk, it doesn't really matter how long.
E did ok last night. 8:30pm, 11:30pm, 2:30am, 6am, 9am. Settled between each feeed up till 6am, when i let her snooze in with me.
J ususally gets up at 7am, so Nai I know how you feel about getting up with the toddler. The good think is that J will get in with us for a while, and I put a DVD on. He will happily stay in bed with us for a good hour or so.
J came home for IL's today. He had a good time, but it means that I will need to deal wth the 2 kids again. On the bright side, my sis is doing a uni placement out this way, so she is going to stay a few nights here. I told here as long as she is happy to cook and maybe bath J. She is happy to do so, so that's great.
