Babies Born January 16th ~ 31st 2009 #2

Hi ladies,

sorry ive been MIA, Caleb has been sleeping so wonderfully that ive been getting back into my old favourite activities and just plain forgot about BB!!! It wasnt until Sonie sms'd me that i even remembered so thought i would pop in and update and read updates :)

Im happy to say that i have my lovely sweet little boy back, he gets up in the morning for about an hour and a half and sleeps for two hours and we repeat the process all day until bedtime when he sleeps all ngiht without waking (if he does wake its only once around 3-3.30am)
We are off to NZ this weekend for Caleb to meet the family, very nervous, very excited. Apparantly i can only fill my bottles to 100mls on the plane which is ridiculous cos he feeds alot more than that!!!

to who ever mentioned periods (sorry cant remember) yep mine was a pain in the butt for the first one and im due for my 2nd one this week.

It was also a year ago next week that i found out i was pregnant, cant beleive it, how different life is now to a year ago, i remember taking that test, crying and crying, so happy and excited.... makes me a little sad its all over, but thrilled i have him in my arms now :) as im sure all of you would agree wiht me :)

Caleb is being dedicated at Church on Mothers day, how awesome is that!!!

Oh i also took Caleb to the chiro the other day and found that he couldnt rotate his head fully to the right and he couldnt put his right arm all the way up, it makes sense, we kept thinking he was gonna be a lefty cos he only used his left hand but now that he has full rotation he is using his right arm more.... it wouldve been from his birth as he was born with his right elbow up by his face (they were wondering how i didnt tear when he came out like that!)

Gypsy - sorry to hear you're having troubles with Max sleeping... (or not sleeping!!).... same here with Ava. Must be something to do with turning 12 weeks!!! Cos' lately she's been shocking and won't sleep much in the day....
I can't get her to sleep longer than 30mins :wall: at a time.... she can't get into the 2nd sleep cycle... read this is common in babies her age anyway.
Waking twice in the night for feeds around 130am and 430am.... so i'm buggered!!! And can't sleep during the day as Ava doesn't sleep... oh boy its tiring!! She was sleeping so well at one stage.... ah well, i'm sure this will pass.....

Had mothers group today after the health clinic and it was really great chatting with other mum's over coffee. It's so nice to talk to others going through similar issues etc. We're going to meet up every Tues now.

Has anyone got a grobag yet? They come in different sizes we are thinking of getting the 6-18mth one but will it be way too big for Ava at this stage?? She's only little. But if we buy the 0-6mths one it will be outgrown very quickly!!! Any suggestions?? It won't be long before she won't be wrapped anymore....

Renstar - I have a couple of sleeping bags already from Logan but I would probably go for the 6 months plus one, however, if you can find out the length of the smaller one it may be worth it for little Ava. I too, have to start thinking about putting Amara into a sleeping bag in about 3-4 weeks or when she is 4 months old.

I am so sorry Ava has not been sleeping enough, it is hard as it has already been 3 months of broken sleep and takes it toll on us, doesn't it? Who knows why they (babies) do this - but by 6 months things usually get into a good pattern and much longer at night...

What about taking her out for a walk in the pram if she does not settle again after a 30 min nap? At least this way you can get fresh air, exercise and she may just sleep again. I sometimes do this when Amara wakes way before her next feed.

I am finding Amara is getting unsettled from about 3pm - or 'the after school hours'...if hubby is home, it is much easier to get all things done - Logan settled, homework, playtime for him, afternoon snack, dinner.....

Today I am off for a swim - taking Amara to Daddy's workplace where there is an Olympic sized pool. Have not done 'laps' for about 6 weeks now and dying for a swim!

Thats a bugger about sleeping, hospital and everything else. Fin is doing really well, He has a cold at the moment, I've never seen so much green snot come out of one person. I've found that he is more chucky at the moment and there secret chucks, so we don't realise untill there is spew every where. I'm hoping it is just related to the cold. The boy has woken up.

not good to hear about those little ones with colds... yucky, poor little bubbas, hope they get better soon, must be hard to have a blocked nose when you really need it clear for being able to breathe while eating etc

Well we just got back from the Chiro (2nd visit) and put Caleb down for a nap, he slept 2 hours all by himself, had to go and wake him up for his feed. Apparantly he has the start of teething, which explains him being quite irritable, sticking anuything and everything in his mouth and chewing on his teats. Have got some Brauers teething relief and teething rings for him as well.

My mother in law arrives tomorrow morning from NZ to meet Caleb, very excited, i probably wont be on much as Im off to NZ on Saturday so will read everyones updates when i get back

Ava has been awake since 5am!!!!!! :wall: I'm so over today :(

Why won't she sleep?? I have tried everything that normally works but today she just doesn't want to sleep.... and not even feeding properly :(
I was hoping to get some rest myself today but nope..... arrrghhhh..... I can't believe such a small little girl can be awake so long and be wide eyed and alert and happy?? she's happy to sit in her swing and playmat but if i put her to her cot and wrap her etc do all the things to settle her she cracks up!!!!!
Or she'll lie awake for up to an hour on her own in her cot..... just looking around...

Oh ive had days like that, drives ya crazy!!! have you tried wrapping her, putting her on her side and patting her back (quite firmly, not thumping her though) and saying "shhhh" over and over? if you can do this for up to 20mins i can almost garauntee you she will sleep, otherwise i dont know what else you can do, but if you do this and stick to it she should fall asleep, you just have to stick to it and not stop, even if she is crying... then once she is fully asleep (at the 20 min mark) you put her back onto her back.
The idea is taht they cant hold 3 thoughts in their head at once, they cant focus on crying and the patting and the shhhing all at once so they stop crying and focus on the other two which actually sends them to sleep.

This is what i do, give it a shot and hope it works for you (ive seen it work for many many screaming babies)

Well she did end up falling asleep, I fed her! She fell asleep after 5mins at the boob.... :rolleyes: see how long it lasts though.... im not holding my breathe.... i need her to sleep longer than 20mins!!!!!!

It's only taken 11hours to get her to sleep Arrrghhhh!!!!

Just a quick one for me - been at docs with H. He had blood in his pooh today :doh: Not sure what's going on as he's not constipated as he is BF. Sample with pathology. :pray: everything is ok.............

V quick one here as Max is talking loudly (almost crying!).

Ren, Ava sounds just like Max in terms of sleeping/ I've also been up twice the past 2 nights, and can't sleep during the day cos he's up.

Also, I bought a grobag, got the 6-18 month one. I also bought a couple of cheaper sleeping bags (from Target or Kmart or something I think) in size 00. I'm using them at the moment, but will probably move Max into the Grobag soonish as he is big for his age anyway so I don't think it'll be too big.

Talking has pretty much turned into a cry, so I better go!

Soph: Hope it is nothing serious and just a one-off....you must be very worried!! Hope you get the results back ASAP.

Ren: Not really sure what advice to give only that Ava is one stubborn little girl he he. One positive I suppose is that she is happy!! How did she end up sleeping this arvo?? Can you get to her sleep out with you for a couple of sleeps a day (in the pram or bassinet if you have one), especially when you are so exhausted? You've probably already tried this. Or, have you tried the relaxation music that you use in the car in her nursery? You have probably got advice/ideas coming at you from everywhere so will stop there....it can get a bit much hey! Hope tomorrow is a better day for you.

AFM: I don't personally use grobags or sleeping bags. I have bought Dash the new fleece Bonds onesies and I will continue to wrap him under the arms with his SwaddleMe during Winter until he can roll and move around the cot properly. Plenty warm enough. DD crawled at 5 months and there is no way she would have coped in a grobag and would have been frustrated when trying to move around the cot (which she could climb out of at 6 months he he)....that and she was a winter newborn (and wrapped) so I didn't bother with the expense of them. Dash is our last bub so I can't justify the expense. Hope you all enjoy your grobags though.

Another great day for us. I am so lucky and grateful that Dash is a carefree bub. It makes my 'job' a lot easier with a toddler. DD is still feeling the aftershock from the hospital visit. It has her quite traumatised and she has regressed a little bit. She is quite clingy and has now developed a few fears (including going to sleep because she woke up in hospi and I was out of the room)...all in a week! I will be patient and work through them one-by-one. God bless Dash for being happy and content. Today I had to put him down to deal with her and he just talked to himself etc without any fuss. Love my boy! DD is keeping me on my toes!! I only sat for about 20 minutes today. Tomorrow is another day I say!

Yay!!! DD has been asleep since 9:20am and its now 10:05am!!! That's longer than 20mins! (shouldnt' talk too soon tho LOL)..... we've been having so much trouble getting her to sleep longer than 20mins during the day! I like her to sleep 1hr at least!

Orange - thanks hun. Yeah the relaxation music helps sometimes in her room and we have a CD for in the car too. it sure helps! I'm heading out today to meet a friend for lunch and DD sleeps ok in her stroller thankgod!! otherwise i'd use the sling.

Well I'm out to the shops soon to get some fresh air and some lunch with a friend. Yesterday with Ava not sleeping did my head in!!! DH got home at 630pm and got her to settle and into bed by 7pm!!!!
I'm hoping this phase passes soon because up until this last week we had a good routine going!!!!! :(

Just quicklt from me....been at A&E this am - 2 large bloody poohs this morning. Aggravating because he looks well they won't do too much more but waiting from call from private paed. Bloody pooh is not normal! Same thinbg happened when Ned was sick at 3 months...was happy so they said he was fine until he was literally on deaths door. grrrrrr. Seems you have to wait until they get that bad. Anyway just waiting - another bloody pooh at home since :wall:

Oh my gosh Soph!!! Go to the royal childrens hospital in Melbourne!!! they admitted us when Caleb wasnt feeding even though he was happy and healthy and thriving, they are the best!!! Sunshine Hosp told me there was nothing wrong with him and there was nothing they could do, Royal Childrens changed his meds and his formula!!! they found he had an allergy to cows milk protein.

Blood in poo's is NOT normal, go to teh royal childrens and demand answers!!!!! I cannot rate them highly enough with the attention they gave us to make sure he was ok

REN: As you would be aware from my other thread, Ella has been nightmare when it comes to settling!! - however, i have changed her routine and tried one suggested from one the BB ladies in that thread and it has worked wonders - i have adjusted it to accommodate Ella and also use it combined with the fischer price peek-a-boo soother (i've moved ella into her cot now) and it seems to be working well - I have only been trying this new "routine" for 4 days so im sure there will be hiccups along the way, but so far so good :)

Ella - is your DD in her cot in her own room now? Was she in your room at all? Ava sleeps in our room with us in her hammock but last 3 nights shes been in her room in her own cot and i miss her! So i think tonight i'm going to put her back into our room!

Just got home from shops 1hr ago and DD settled within 5mins! Left her in her cot and 5mins later she was protesting and whinging but not crying so i left her and she just fell asleep on her own :dance: only took 12mins! Yehhaaa...

I have a really good book from Pinky Mckay called "Sleeping like a baby" that im desperately trying to read quickly.... its a good book.

Hes been an absolute shocker today with the catnapping and we had im in the car and boy did i know about it,im gonna go back to the paed as this is getting ridiculous,i dont think the Losec is doing bugger all for the reflux,he wont eat much or sleep much during day,at night he sleeps all night and feeds well..i put it down to his overtiredness during day,im soooooooo exhausted..:wall: i can barely get anything done let alone leave the house,by 5pm its his witching hour til 7pm n dont i know about it..

JANUARY 09- A TRIP DOWN MEMORY PREGNANCY LANE

This time last year we all joined the jan 16-31st 09 due group,there was only about 3 of us and we were deer in the headlights,i think Kimbaz was the 1st one here and 1st one to welcome us all....
There we were introudicing ourselves,what state we lives in.what town/suburb,then posting our EDD or what we thought il we all went to the docs for confirmation,some of us peed on a little stick and some just knew as AF had not visited...

6 Weeks scan- By this time we are all excited as we get to see our little jellybeans growing,we are all nervous too cos we have to have our nuchal fold tests...we are all emotional after seeing our scans and i for one cried..

20 weeks scan-some of us have had the dreaded GD glucose test and i think i was the only one here who copped GD,some of us had the 3d/4d scan and found out what we were having and most of us announced it and at this time it was predominantly boys...We all got to see our little bubbas and their hands n feet n faces and we are all trying to make out or guess what they will look like,by now we ar eon the countdown n Sal n Sal have welcomed little baby into the world.very prem but doing ok..

EDD ARRIVING-By now we are all getting scared and some of us having false labours n shocking pains,we all have our sms buddies,we have all traded nursery decor stories and whos bought what and whats useful etc..i remember getting a sms off Jo saying she on hew way to hospital and shes nearly having Caleb,a few hours later i get one from her hubby Craig announcing Calebs birth,i cried my eyes out..haha
I remember a few of us had pretty fast labours,Kimbaz holds the world record followed by Jo and myself having a 4 hour 45 min labour and almost on my EDD.Jo took the prize for having Caleb on her EDD..

THE 1ST WEEK HOME-SILENCE IN HERE WE ARE ALL ADJUSTING

Awww Sonie thats was so lovely, had a lump in my throat reading that!!!

ITs true it all feels like it was a dream, some of us had no idea what we were getting into and we all looked forward to the day we would be holding our bubs in our arms, little did we know just how much our lives would change... from knowing there was a bubby to LOVING it with all of our beings.

I for one know that being my little boys mother has made my life worth every single second of pain ive ever endured just to get to this point. My Mother in law arrived today and she said to me "You are so different, its like you have a purpose now"

She cried when she saw the video i made of Caleb and said to me "now you know how i can love my son so much, you are the perfect woman for him and im so happy you are his wife"

Ladies it has been an honour and a blessing to live this journey with you all and i know it will continue to be so.

Well im off to bed after my lovely date to the movies with my husband (mum in law babysat, it was WONDERFUL) and to tell you the truth if i didnt have my period then my husband wouldve been a VERY lucky man tonight, i feel like a million dollars :)

Yeah Ella is in her nursery now (1 week) but prior to that she was in her bassinette in our room :) - although i miss her, i feel (for me) its better for her to be in her room and i get up once during the night (usually between midnight and 1.30am) to give her a feed and then she goes back down until about 7.00am.

Re sleeping issues, I borrowed a booster type thing from my sis which helps babe sleep on their side. It has a roll that goes in front and one behind. Tried it out for first time yesterday morning and Max slept for 2 hours! It was his longest day sleep (in his cradle) for ages. Apart from the sleeping on the side thing, I think maybe it helps make them feel more snug, as it has something in front and behind. Anyway, he only had one sleep at home yesterday and we'll be out again this morning, so I'll see if it works again this arvo.

Soph - Hope you've got some answers about poor Henry by now.

Son - Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I'm off to a baby clothes sale this morn. Have been told it's really good (and cheap!) so I'm hoping to be able to pick up some nice cheap, big 000 clothes that will fit DS for a bit longer until he grows into the 00s. I can hardly find anything to fit him these days, except growsuits and I think he's a bit big to be wearing them out and about now.

gypsy-the side wedge snuggler virtually cured nixons sleeping issues overnight,he hates being on his back,i think with him its just his reflux and reading the baby whisperer book it says if i have him in a structured routine and hes sleeping well at night then its just his biorhythms and sleep patterns...i will try other methods to get him to sleep longer than an hour during the day but i think its juts him as he not grumpy only at 5pm and manages fine,im the one not managing lol
Jo- good on you for having a great night,yes we have purpose and yes we change and grow up real fast(even at 37 years of age)i have become a completely different woman...

Soph, what a scary experience for you! I know you've been through it before, but I'm sure it doesn't get any easier :( I hope you get some answers soon.

Ren, Jared is in a Grobag and I love it. We have all sorts of sleeping bags. We used them all the time when Ben was a bub (and in fact he is still in a sleeping bag now as he kicks his covers off at night if we try that and it's FREEZING right now). J's Grobag is a 0-6 month one and it's already almost too small for my big boy. It was a gift for us at Ben's baby shower and we definitely got good use out of it and will also use it for #3. The other sleeping bags are good, but not as warm as the Grobag ,even though they have sleeves and the GB doesn't.
Jared hasn't been wrapped since he was a week or two old. He just did not like it at all.

Well, it doesn't rain it pours. Ben now has a double ear infection :( He's on his first ever course of anti-biotics and they seem to be doing the trick, thank goodness. I'm ready to write off April, it has not been a fun month for us at all. All four of us have been sick, a hospital stay and now this!

On the positive side, Jared had his best night sleep since coming out of hospital. He slept from 10:45pm until 5:30am so I'm pretty happy with that. Ben also slept through for the first time since having mummy home. I desperately needed that big chunk of sleep, as I mentioned, April was a nightmare!!!

well this morning has gotten off to a great start,i have begun putting gaviscon back in nixons bottles and i got an hour and a half morning sleep after his big one and he polished of quite a bit of his bottle,,,we are now back to sticking like glue to his easy routine from baby whisperer as it did seem to work and we did shy away from it when the reflux treatment started...i want to put nixon in a sleeping bag but he still needs to be swaddled as he thrashes about a lot and settles well when swaddled

Sonie, ive been thinking about putting Gav in Calebs bottles again as well, but the pediatrician said theres no need...

He really doesnt like to be swaddled at the moment as he is teething nd want9ng to stick his hands in his mouth but doesnt have great hand control when he is tired and whacks himself in the face and keeps himself awake, so ive sewn velcro onto the miracle blanket ( yep he was getting out of it) and that keeps him from getting out as he wriggled so much that he would lift his back up and the blanket would come undone... problem solved!! however i have to keep giving him panadol etc for his teethying. poor little guy just cries at different times for no reason and just wants to gnaw on soemthing.

well im off to NZ tomorrow so i probably wont be on for a bit now!

Hello everyone!

Soph: Hope you have an answer by now and everything is OK with Henry.

Jo and Sonie: Dash has Gaviscon in every single bottle and has since 4.5 weeks old. Without it he vomits most of the feed and it continues for the next 24 hours. He is now starting to vomit through the Gaviscon and Zantac so he will be going up to double Gaviscon and Zantac is increasing, but I have to get him to take at least 170mL at a time first (for double Gaviscon) as he still only takes between 120mL and 150mL at a time. He is still happy though, rarely cries and it hasn't disturbed it sleep so I can't complain (it only makes a mess). On paed advive I am starting solids with Dash next week when he is four months old as the small feeds all day are getting ridiculous and the reflux is not showing any improvments. Apparently there is a 50% chance that solid food will ease the reflux quite a lot....let's see how that goes. He has the tonguing thing happening so should be OK to start with small amounts and now that he is sitting nicely in his bumbo and activity centre, he can be propped up nicely afterwards!

well, there is a lot of reflux babies in our group hey? As most of you know, Amara has reflux as well, however it does not seem as bad as other babies here.

Orangefeather - what is the dose of Zantac that your bub is having? I hope starting some solids does help, I was also told that also, but it may take some time still.

soniebon - what does your bubba take? Zantac also?

Amara is still on 0.5 mls 3 times a day, which is not much at all, but seems to do the trick - she is not in pain anymore, although she still chucks up heaps!! we do not give her Gaviston very often at all either.

other news! we ordered a ERGO SPORTS BABY CARRIER and it arrived just now!!! excellent timing, just before the weekend!! cannot wait to use it, will be good on my broad shouldered hubby also.

well, I am off shopping this afternoon with Miss Amara, gotta get school track pants for Logan and new sunglasses for me!

Tomorrow is my long run day...gotta run 18kms! The Half marathon is only 10 weeks away now, but training is going well, considering all that is going on!

Sorry for being MIA for a while but as you know, I have a hard time keeping up with one group, nevermind a second one and verytime I seem to be up to date with all your posts and about to write my own story, Sammy wakes up! I've been trying to keep reading how all your little ones are doing but (lets face it you were always a chatty bunch) and am sorry to hear a lot of you seems to be having issues with reflux and other health issues ( Soph especially, hope they find whats wrong and I agree with Jo, seek a second advice, pooh in blood is not normal) But your group have definately developped a great relationship and Sonie's last post is the prime example of that. I am glad I got to share a bit of that journey with you all and you ladies are all wonderful individuals and awesome mums!

Just thought I would let you know how we have been doing. Samantha and I are going very well. I am enjoying motherhood so much and Sammy is a dream baby. A while ago, I read in your thread about the baby whisperer and how well it worked for Jo and Caleb, we've implemented it pretty much right away apart from the dreamfeed as it never made a difference, Sammy still kept waking up at 3am regardless ( only waking up once though) and the last 3 nights has actually been sleeping through to 5 or 6am, so hoping this is it for us and that Sam sleeps all the way through which is great for a breastfed baby. The routine ROCKS is all I can say! The only issue we have had with her on and off is her weight gain which has slowed again lately and she is still pretty small, but she is happy and very interactive baby and settles really well. So I've been expressing to keep my supply up but thats really been the only issue and count my blessings for my fortune. She has been having a bit of reflux the last couple weeks but we are pretty sure she had a small tummy bug, we took her to the Dr who found nothing wrong but it has improved a lot in the last couple days, so fingers crossed, we were right and this is not a reflux problem developping for her.

Runnermum: you would be very proud of me, I've already lost 2 kilos from my pre-pregnancy weight and power walking everyday, am aiming to lose another 8 kilos by mid July and another 10 by Christmas! My daily walks have become so enjoyable and I push myself to work out harder each day. I am even thinking about doing a half marathon in October! You were always an inspiration for me when pregnant and still cannot believe you ran almost to the end!

I cannot remember if I came in after Sammy was born to tell you about the birth Story or not ( I am yet to write it..soon soon) but wanted to thank you all for being great support in the AGONIZING 11 days after my EDD and throughout my pregnancy.

Ava got weighed today - she's put on 200g in the last week :dance: YAY!! And she's sooo tall! She's in the 90th percentile for her height!!!! :lol: shes so tall and lean.

Sonya - if Nixon is sleeping 1hr per nap during the day then thats great! I would be happy with that! If only Ava slept that long.... we have trouble getting her past 20mins
:( some days she will sleep 2-3hrs though!! It varies....

Jo - Ava gets out of her miracle blankets too!! We have to wrap her REALLY tight LOL can't wait to get our grobag.

Dis - thats awesome about the grobag. can't wait to get ours!! We ordered 6-18mth one do you think she'll be able to use it soon tho? no point getting the smaller one?

Well I have a very overtired bub (been out almost all day shopping, lunch with a friend and had to go into the shop to do some accounts work) and she's calling out for me... gotta go....

Oh! And hasn't it just been the BEST experience in the world.... being pregnant for 9mths, giving birth and now loving and learning with our new little person in our life? DD is the best thing that has ever happened to us, as I'm sure all babies are to their parents :D I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOVE LOVE it when Ava smiles at me... it's just the BEST.

Well today i put infant gaviscon back in his bottles and the catnapping has almost instantly stopped,today we couldnt keep him awake..lol and he knocked off in the car without prostesting a few times too...Our paed said that the Losec at 2.5ml on its own shuld be fine but if not to try the gavi so i did and its working...does anyone have a more pleasant taste of losec? apparantly u can get somehting that better flavoured as Nixon hates it n gags n tries to spit it out..
We too have to start solids at 4 months due to the Reflux but reading in quite a few books it says that sometimes solids make it worse??? go figure
Todays sleeps were minimum 1 and half hours to 2 and a bit..ive stopped swaddling him during the day to see how he goes as he genrally whacks himself with his hands,im gonna see by leaving his hands out if he puts them in his mouth and is less dummy dependant when sleeping,if he starts going ok without a swaddle ill get a grobag or sumthin,i have 3 of them but Nixon still prefers to be swaddled,hes a little houdini with his miracle blanket and somehow we manage to find an arm out of it..hehe,We now have a witching hour between 5pm-630pm or just b4 bed..he screamed n screamed today,he does do it at this time most days,i put it down to the reflux and his winding down time,poor little thing,i just hold n cuddle n let him lay there n pat n shoosh til he has a catnap or relaxes himself..
Ren- does Ava have reflux??? maybe u might have to look at diff meds or see a paed?? oh i feel ur pain though,is she sleeping ok at night?
i wish i could sleep at night,takes me ages to unwind n by time i have my time,cook etc its bloody midnight,oh the joys
anyways off to bed,we had early riser this morning

DD slept 8pm til 4am last night!!! She's never done that!! Wohoo had the best sleep i have had in aggeees.... so needed that :D
Now its 5am and I'm wide awake LOL but DD is back in bed so I should really get back to bed myself.
DH just left for Melbourne for work this weekend so I'm on my own until when Mum arrives today she's staying for the weekend to keep me company and help with Ava. I'm so glad!!!

Has anyone experienced heaps of hair loss lately?? I have!!! Falling out in chunks LOL I looked it up on the net just now and it says its quite common 3mths post partum to lose a bit of hair.... as its extra hair that grew while being PG. My hair was so thick!!

Harley went 8pm till 5am...its a good feeling isn't it having that sleep... I slept from 9 till about 4.30 when I woke up for a toilet break. So needed it as well!

Ren - tha is fantastic news about Ava sleeping that long - Amara has made it to about 3.30am a couple of times, but no longer yet.......

Ren - how long is Ava? Amara is 62cms long and just over 6kgs!!

Sydney Moose - YES, I am proud of you - well done on all the exercise, I bet you feel great because of it! I am also proud of myself - I ran 18kms this morning!!! So I know for sure I can do the half marathon - it is still 10 weeks away. Now it is just a matter of how long it will take me - I am very goal orientated, he, he, can you tell?? !!:lol:

I think Amara is moving into her own room this weekend.....daddy is out with Logan this morning to get blockout material for her bedroom windows. It will feel VERY strange not to have her with us in our room - am I ready for this??

Well, last night was a shocker for us, Owen went down about 6.30pm only to wake again at 11pm. Fed him and put him back to bed, woke again at 3 am. Usually give him both breast and bottle as I'm comp. feeding but this time just gave him the breast, put him down at 4am and asleep for an hour and a half and awake again at 5.30. I am just sooooooo tired, part of my problem is that I have trouble getting back to sleep once he has woken during the night. I'm pretty sure he isn't hungry when he wakes at 11pm, as he usually sleeps longer but feeding him is the best way to get him back to sleep for a while. Not really sure, thinking I will call the sleep school next week, didn't call them last week as I thought we were doing ok. Now I'm not so sure.........

Runner - don't know how you do it, I've been trying to get out for a walk most days but find it makes me more tired and I find it hard to do the housework etc., it's amazing you're able to find the time to do the amount of running you do.

shellsie - I hope you have a MUCH better night tonight - 2-3 wake ups would make anyone very, very tired. As you say, little darling was probably not hungry, but I would of done the same thing as you - it is so hard to know, especially when all you want to do is sleep.

Running - well, I have a secret - a very supportive husband AND being VERY organised, as my son has to be off to school by 8.30am also. Amara has also fallen into a pattern of waking up at about 5.30am/6am so I feed her then, change her, pop her back into bed again and I hit the road running by about 6.30am or 7am....hubby helps my son with breakfast, cleaning teeth, getting dressed, etccc. lunches already made the night beforehand. I get home by 8am AT THE LATEST during the week, quick shower, breakfast and off to school with my son and Amara - hubby riding to work on his bike.

So we are VERY organised, otherwise it would not happen. But if Amara is unsettled or one of us is sick, usually I head out for a VERY quick 20mins or just walk with the pram.

on the weekend (usually sat) I do my long runs. These are essential for running marathons. Usually this means a mininum of 90 mins and up to 3 hours eventually (ATM I am running 100 mins).

Housework? yeah, well, gets a bit messy around here, but not too bad!! Hubby always cooks on Saturdays when I do my long run

My hubby deserves the medal, not me !!!!!!!!:clap::dance::lol:

Another fast one from me,Day 2 on the gaviscon and we actually spent a good part of 5 hours out of the house,my boy is doing well in the car again and sleeping great during day,he even fell asleep his pram which has not happened in oh so long,i feel so much happier...
I think we have to put the dreamfeeds back to midnight as i have been giving them to him at 11pm and he wakes around 330-4am then wakes every hour til 7-8am,ive had him in my room and its a bit cold so im putting him back in his room to see if it helps and ill experiment with the midnight dreamfeed as he normally sleeps from 7-730pm thru to 5-530am if he has a midnight dreamfeed...ill experiment also doing an 11pm one to see if its just the rooms too cold..sometimes if i give him the midnight dreamfeed then he wakes 5-530am i feed again but when he wakes at 7-8am not hungry,,,anyway trial and error but all going well,i dunno when ill ever see him sleep all the way thru without feeding from dreamfeed however they do say try putting dummy in and see if he goes back to sleep,,might try that on a 5am one and see if he sleeps thru,hes still little for his age,hes long n thin n hes gaining weight,just a shocker of an eater,though his last bottle today at 4pm he almost finished the lot,he has about 140 ml on a good day and 80ml if his milk too thick,ive had to decrease the thickener as i found its filling him too fast n he wont have much bottle,the less i put it in the better but then i have to contend with the little vomits.
Have had him on reflux formula but constipates him too much,,,oh the joys of Reflux but oh the joys of infant gaviscon,has made a huge huge huge difference,i have my boy back and hes in his old routine...yay
well done ren on ava sleeping so well,shellsie u sound like me with nixons sleep patterns,i still havent ruled out sleep school entirely i will keep it on the backburner if he cant self settle(needs a dummy to sleep)and if it gets to say 6 months and hes not sleeping through all the way from the dreamfeed or 8pm ish or whenever u cut out both..

Hey girls!!!

After Ava sleeping 8pm - 4am this last night she then went back to bed 430am til 7am!!! I got so much sleep i needed!!!!

Ava is sleeping alot better during the day now!!! I think this last week was just a new developmental phase for her and she was growing etc and now she's more settled!!! :D

Mum is here until tomorrow as DH is away this weekend for work and we have had a great day driving around.... looked at a house we want to buy its beautiful.... out in the country/rural. We don't like where we are living it's too residental, too noisy.
We went shopping and Ava was really good at the shops in her stroller (she loves her stroller as she can see everything!).
We're off for lunch tomorrow at the surf club near us!! :D Yum....

Runner - I think Ava was exhausted from her last few days of not sleeping!!! :lol: i hope she sleeps well tonight too! Ava is now 62cm long aswell! shes in the 90th percentile for her height!!! tall girl like Amara!! And weighs 5.5kg!!
I was sad when Ava was in her room the first night :( Only cos she wouldnt settle in her hammock in our room! So she's outgrown it!!! We thought it would last her 6mths. I miss her heaps when she sleeps in her room. But we are getting this thing for our bed so we can co-sleep with her some nights :)

We are settling into our new house (so sorry have been MIA), so much more room now it's brilliant. I went to a BF class run by my local ABA group today.... as a demonstrator! Yep, they asked me to come along & feed Sam to show the Mums-to-be how a bub is BF. They were all a really nice bunch and Sam was his usual booby-monster best. It was weird because I still feel like such a virgin at motherhood but to them I was a wealth of knowledge. The ABA educators made me feel really comfortable & they were really good at what they do. I had planned to do a class myself before I had Sam but because he came early we never got there.

Soph - how's your little guy????? Any news?? :hug:

AJC - oh the hairloss has been soooo shocking!!! I'm so glad I read that it can happen at 3mths post partum otherwise i'd be going to the GP!!! :lol:

We're trying Ava in her bumbo seat tomorrow!!! She has such great neck and head control she's definitely ready.... I think I've been holding off as I was worried i'd put her in it too soon!! overprotective mummy hehe :rolleyes:

just another quick one,do any of u get witching hour?? mines between 5-6pm ish where nix plays up,ok tonight tried to put him back in the spare room(where he started out in)but wouldnt sleep,i think cos it smelled smokey from next doors bbq n DH left window open,also i think cos he was overtired n maybe a tad overstimulated from today not too mention i had to pry his eyes from watching essendon v brisbane 1st quarter(him and his dad)b4 bath b bed,he went to sleep at 820pm i usually leave the tv on n down low in my bedroom also for noise,hell he cant last that long anymore,will try the midnight dreamfeed,DH gonna let me sleep in spare bed so i can have one night where i can sleep right thru as im exhausted..
i was just gonna leave him in our room til we move(in about 3 weeks)then he goes into his new room(which he sleeps in at grandmas when he goes there so hes used to it and the house)i dont wanna chop n change rooms at this point and disrupt his sleep patterns
