Hi gang
im up the beach enjoying my time away from the ratrace,,,was a bit daunting as it ended up being about a 4hour or so car ride,my mum lives half way so we stopped there and feed play etc then we stoped again and enjoyed the sounds of the birds, sunsets and the smell of the bush, nixon woke as we pulled into MIL driveway...
He went down pretty good last night, today a different story,1st morning sleep good then lunchtime one not so good,he was put in car and taken out half hour later so upset the routine a bit,he didnt go back to sleep for a few hours, then home to nanas and asleep on her bed for 3 hours, then nana and pa spoiled him with cuddles and had feed bath and a bit overtired n cranky after bath but asleep in portacot in 10 mins, didnt want much food today cos too tired but tonight sucked down 160ml..little piggy
gorgeous weather here, tomorrow we are off to take nixon to his 1st trip to the beach,is a 3 min walk across the road, then mummy is nickin of for a 3 hour pamper n massage at the day spa.mmmmmmmmmmmmm
me-lisa- i cant recall the exact name of those wedges,i got mine in big w in the babies section,i know kmart sell em and you could try target..
sorry to hear about everyone having probs with reflux, poor little bubbas..
runner- 8km run isnt a marathon to us girls, its torture!!!!!!!! u legend well done
anyway im off for a ****tail and watch a dvd but i be lucky to last 10 mins, tired and today i had arvo nap which havent done in over 6 weeks

Sonie - the miracle blankets are REALLY good, Caleb is pretty strong, he gets out of them sometimes but only maybe once every few days, perhaps its those times that we just havent wrapped him properly in it, but its better than having him escape the wraps every single time. I love that it keeps his hands by his body cos they get cold sometimes.
Well my dad leaves in the morning before Caleb even gets up so i have to be up at 5am, havent been up that early since Caleb first came home from hospital! Im gonna miss my dad, we have had so much fun and Caleb and him had a ball! right, im exhausted, night all!

hi girls,
a horrible morning here. amara will NOT stop crying. We started her on Zantac yesterday lunch time - so she has just had her 3rd dose.............how long will it take for us to see improvements??
This is just so horrible and I know you ladies understand the stress it causes. Take that with also having our son with Autism and it is double the horror.
So is it Ok to give Gaviston also ??? I want to try anything......
-
Runner - yes its ok to use Gaviscon as well, we do for Caleb. not sure how long the Z takes, weve only started that yesterday
-
We've just had a bad night in our house too. A few friends and I decided to have a girls night out, so DH stayed home and looked after Max. I had expressed 5 bottles, so feeding shouldn't have been a problem. Well, about 11.30-12.00 I got a text asking how long I was going to be cos Max wouldn't take the bottle, wouldn't sleep... I got a friend to bring me home and about an hour or so later we finally managed to get Max to take a bottle and go to bed.
The next 2 feeds he hasn't taken a whoel lot form the bottle either, so I finally caved in about midday and gave him some from the boob - I don't feel hungover, so figure there couldn't be too much alcohol left in there. You can imagine how guilty I feel now about the night out though:redface:.
On a better note - we had our latest health centre visit yesterday and Max is up to 5.67kg now. He's in the 75th percentile for weight and length, so getting to be a chubby little thing!
-
Runner: It is OK to take both Zantac and Gaviscon...they do two different things. Gaviscons helps with the vomit and Zantac takes the acidity out of what is left. The two work well together. It took Dash a good couple of days to settle. He is on 3mL three times a day. If he misses even one dose (or doesn't finish the bottle with the meds in it) the rest of the day is a write off. Hope Amara feels better soon.
I too haven't had a wonderful morning. Just finished crying on the phone to the manager of major shop about their door lady - I have made an official complaint. She saw me take the time to pick a trolley for DD where the buckles do up properly (the sixth trolley was suitable). I would normally take the pram but my boot latch has gone and I can't get the pram out!! Dash was in the sling. We in the store for maybe 2 minutes and a bent down to get something off the shelf. DD got out the trolley - she can do this quite easy because she is hypermobile and can squeeze herself out of anywhere, even her car seat.
She was about 3 meters in front of me and I was chasing her with the trolley and Dash in the sling. We got near the door and the door lady could see me coming (most door people would see what was happening and try to help stop a child I'm sure) and I said, "I'm gettig there, I'll be back with a smile". Instead of letting me go without a fuss she insisted I stop and have my handbag and sling checked. So much so that she even put her hand on my shoulder and was using her other hand to peer inside the sling so I couldn't just run for Dash's sake. She said, "I know she is running, this wont take long!". Are you kidding??
Meanwhile DD has gone out of sight so I threw my bags at her and went running after DD. I think that this is just disgusting and so does the manager - especially with a 2 month old in the sling and me running. They are reviewing the video footage now as I speak because she was not allowed to touch me and they are angry about what she has done. Anyway, rant over.....I feel better now! On a good note, DD is insisting on going to the toilet and I got one of each this morning yeah!!! Hard work looking after a refluxer and toilet training a toddler I tell you lol!! Don't think I will go out again in a hurry.....it is the hardest thing I have had to do.....shopping with a toddler and a newborn....and I am used to having 25 schoolies in my care 5 days a week! This is sooooo much harder!
-
Oh Orange, what a horrible woman! Definitely make a formal complaint. Glad you managed to catch Z before she ran too far away.
Good on you for toilet training Z! Ben is still a long way off being ready. I'm kinda grateful for that right now to tell you the truth
We've had a good morning (sorry to the rest of you who are having trouble this morning :( ) I'm letting J sleep on his belly at night now, with the motion monitor on. It's made the world of difference to my little man. I'm now getting five-six hour sleeps at night and good naps during the day. He is also giving me tonnes of smiles and laughs! Much happier little man and consequently, much happier mummy! I even went out shopping this morning by myself to get some gym gear. In case any of you are wondering, it is impossible to buy sports bras in 12F or 12G sizes :( I ended up getting a 14 E which I know will ride up at the back, but it's the best I can do :(
Anyway, better be off and enjoy my last few minutes of peace. Ben is due up any second now.
-
Orange - for Zantac, we do 15mls and give it to Caleb straight, can you do it in 5ml lots instead?? my dr said not to put it in the bottle, he does love the taste though, its strawberry i think, judging by the smell?
I cant beleive it but last night Caleb slept 11.5 hours without waking once! down at 8pm and up at 7.30am, i just cant beleive it, i keep waiting for him to wake up through the night as if to say "your good fortune is over, this was just a test" hahaha
Hes a little unsettled today as he has had Grandad around for the past few days and now that hes gone things are getting back to normal and so is he. Im gonna get DH to do the morning feed tomorrow so i can get a decent sleep in for once (it would be my first since giving birth!)
Dropped my dad off at the airport this morning (at 5am no less arrrrgh!) oh i so miss him already, he said hes really gonna miss Caleb, i think he really fell in love with him :) there was a bit of talk about how he would love to move here, i would just have to get my sisters to move here too if that were the case, especially as one of them just had her baby too (and she is my dads natural daughter (they both are) so her daughter is his first natural grandchild, my dad is actually my mothers second husband, he raised me and I see him as my father)
well, i think i might go and have a nap :)

Hi girls!!
We just had our photo shoot for Ava at our friends' place! I can't wait to see how the photos turned out!! We got some gorgeous photos taken and Ava was an angel.... she was sleepy towards the end after her feed and it was easy to take some good photos then.... even got some cute naked photos!!! :D It's so special while she's so little to get this done.
AJC - we took your photos you got done of Sam to show her and we got a few ideas! Thank you.
I have a nipple blister that was huge this morning!! :( it hurt and i have a few more too! On my sore nipple.... ugh!!! I feel like i need a break! This b/feeding is so challenging!
Only thing I haven't got is mastitis and i sure as hell don't want that....
Runner - big hugs to you. I hope Amara settles soon. Try "infant mariners mixture" at the chemist. we use that for Ava and it helps sometimes. its for colic wind and reflux.
-
I wont be on here long as im buggered, went for my 3 hour pamper today,i fell asleep mid massage and was snoring, never happened b4!!!!!!!! but was so relaxing, then to top it off went to beach and listened to sound of oceans, had a dip and sunburn..
Nixon been fantastic, had a bit of a hard nyt 2nyt getting him down as he been pass the parcel today and the centre of attention with relatives n friends who hadnt seen him ywt,he was down by 915pm,he usually asleep by 830 ish
Jo- i would be packing my dacks if Nixon slept 11 hours,id be worried he died from sids or sumthin, how the hell do u get him to sleep that long?my boy wakes every 4 hours or so during nyt,on a good one he sleep 6,thats not counting dream feed,so u could say he sleeps 830pm til about 4am b4 whinging for feed..im not complaining after the hell i been thru, now he goes down night and day within 5 mins, tonight being exception n maybe tomorrow nyt after the long car trip home
anyway its off for dreamfeed n bed for mummy

Jo: Thanks for your ideas re Zantac but Dash can't take it straight because he wont swallow it and spits it out and then wont feed after it, even the Dr couldn't get it down him. Dr said that this is common because it is foul, maybe it wouldn't be if it was like your strawberry flavoured Zantac?? Dash's Zantac has been calculated by his weight (in fact he should only have 2mL twice a day but because it is bad they increased it 3mL 3 times a day to be reviewed in two weeks) by the pharmacist and paed and it has a really strong peppermint flavour - it tastes stronger than mouthwash. So maybe there are different types/strengths of Zantac (interesting, will have to find out)?? The only way we can get him to have it is in his bottle. This works fine when he drinks it......which he has today because I have changed the flow of his teat from medium to fast.... can't believe I didn't think of this before. Thanks for your thoughts anyway, it's appreciated. Yeah on Caleb sleeping 11 hours+....it's nice isn't it??!! Bet you can't wait to see your Dad again in a couple of months.
Ren: Hope your blisters go away, ouch!! Can't wait to see your photos.
Bon: I think Nixon is going great guns with his night sleep....like you said, not much to complain about because it is a lovely big block of sleep once you get him down. You are doing a great job. He will get there in his own time. Bubs just love attention but things will get back to normal soon after you get back home.
Dis: I'm feeling better now lol! I didn't really want to toilet train DD until late Spring (she is only 21 months) but she has given me no choice because she takes her nappies off all the time and goes to the toilet, mostly at the wrong time. If she goes in a nappy she takes it off straight away and tells me what she has done and gets quite upset because she no longer likes the feeling. She is quite happy to run around in trainer knickers. Just bad timing really because I am already so busy trying to co-ordinate and get used to a toddler and 2 month old, it is hard some days as you know. Not to mention the regime we go through each day with reflux, terrible twos, leg braces, orthodic shoes and physio each day. I'm exhausted come night time.....like everyone else I susppose!!
Anyway, this was only meant to be a short message. I can talk a lot because I don't get a lot of adult conversation at home....only here really, so thanks to you all for taking the time to read my thoughts!! Better go and get some sleep....it's been a rough one lol! Will have to start finding some of you ladies on facebook to check out your pics, I never go around to it when I was pregnant (finding you all that is)!!
Good night!
-
IT is interesting the different doses of Zantac - Amara has been prescribed only 0.5 mls three times a day - so NOTHING like the amount of your babies Jo and Orangefeather - my doctor also went by Amara's weight which is about 5.2kgs I think.
Is it making a difference? too early to tell I think, BUT it has not been worse SO FAR.
Good news!! I made it to the fun run.....or shall I say we made it to the fun run!! and it was LOTS of fun for me........running a 'race' again - if only 8kms was great - I had a time in mind that I might do, and I was about 1-2 mins faster...very warm too - well, it is the Gold Coast afterall!
Afterwards, I had to change into my maternity bra, firstly washing the sweat off my breasts - did not want Amara soaking up all that salt !! Had some strange looks about that in the ladies bathroom!!
anyway, this has given the confidence to keep training for the Half Marathon in July.
-
Oh ladies,
forgot to mention - if you do know where I can get a GOOD priced miracle blanket please let me know......
thanks and I hope you all are having a good weekend and enjoying your little ones..
-
Runner - all i know is that from their website they are $40 each, thats how much i paid for mine, not sure where else you can buy them, try ebay? I know that they do stretch a little though so perhaps a new one is best
HTH :)
-
Ru nnner - congrats on the run! I posted the other day but my comp went nuts and it didn't work, but you cab have my wrap if you want> It's new - tried it on H but he hated it. More than happy for it to go to a good home.......

-
hi soph,
this is a very kind gesture - I would love to try your miracle blanket on Amara - thank you very, very much. Shall I send you a PM with my address? I think my inbox is full, better get on to that!
If there is something that YOU need or would like, I may have it, so please ask away!! More than happy of course to return your kindness...
feeling a bit tired now from the race......fair enough I suppose!
soph - hope you get out there for some running soon !! It will feel fantastic...let me know how you go!
-
No worries runnermum! Yeap pm me your address. And you don't need to return the favour, well actually you already have by motivating me to get back into running so keep it up and thank you :) did a slow jog for 30 mins but jogged all the way so pretty happy and exhausted! Got my sights set on a 12km fun run in November - I'm excited! 12km will def be my limit - buggered up my knee doing half marathons pre kids so shorter for me these days!

Hi all
We are going great guns, even after the weekend away and the big car trip and a few stops and being passed around little president Nixon is doing great guns, settled down well n slept and been sleeping good...
Hes such a stunning looking kid,i know im his mum and im biased but everyone comments or stops me and makes comments,,,those big blue eyes just reel you in!!!
He has been charming all the female family members and anyone else whos willing to give him some attention,me included,we get smiles, giggles, pokes his tongue and just melts you..
Speaking of tongues,we may have to get him checked as we think he maybe tongue tied,he eats well, has trouble with dummy sometimes and is very sucky, they did mention this when he born but nothing more was said,i will get the MCHN to check him
Me- well i still feel ordinary,my iron stil low and my body aches soooo bad still from my thyroid levels, have adjusted my pills but it takes a month to kick in,,,i feel like i have a virus and ache from head to toe,i hope it fixes soon as i wanna go gym n swimming.
My back is stuffed, lower back due to pregnancy etc, always did suffer but now with extra weight it bad, hard to bend over, when i had my epidural the anaesthetist said i need physio as ligaments stretched etc...i hate feeling like poo

Orange, glad to hear you're feeling better. Ben is a couple of months older than your DH and is showing no sign of TT. I would have thought he'd really hate the feel of wet or dirty nappies since he's in cloth, but not so. A lot of the mums from Ben's mum's group are having trouble with their bubs taking nappies off and they're all girls. I wonder if it's more a girl thing? Boys don't mind being dirty for a bit longer?? Who knows?
KWYM about adult conversation. The last few days I've been calling my sister just for a chat which I haven't done in the past. Just need another grown up to talk to at times!
Runner, well done on the fun run. I am finally joining the gym with my sis this week. Can't wait! EVen went out and bought some new gym clothes for the occasion. I can't wait to start getting fit again.
Ren, would love to see pics when you get them back. We're supposed to have had pics taken of the lot of us but we haven't got around to it. I NEED to get them done this week because I had some done of Ben at 9 weeks and really want to get J done at the same age.
Us, we've had another great night. Tummy sleeping is the answer for us, although I know a lot of people don't agree with it. Poor Jared just is not comfortable sleeping on his back and will only do it for a max of three hours. On his tummy I'm getting six hour blocks at night and excellent day sleeps which we haven't had before. It works for us.
We're getting a real lot of smiles and laughs. Ben is fantastic at getting laughs out of his little brother. Jared finds him fascinating and hilarious. Nobody else can get the real belly laughs out of J like Ben can. I just hope the good feelings between them last when J starts crawling around and nicking Ben's toys
-
hi ladies,
I so look forward to logging on and seeing how everyone is and the support we can provide to each other - keep it up!!
Di's girl - well done on joining the gym....does it have child minding? and how wonderful that you can go with your sister - I would love that.
Soniebon - re your iron levels - I take a liquid iron which can be bought over the counter from chemists - it is MUCH better than pills anyday - more of it, more absorbed. Let me know if you like to know the name of it.....cannot think right now, it is about 17 dollars however but I need it and i know about iron problems - have had them for years and know what products work for me.
Soph - I have PM you my details - thanks so much again.
My little Amara is so sleepy right now - not normal really, don't like it. She did not feed very well and then fell right off to sleep in my arms. I have a feeling she will only be asleep for 45 mins then wake up screaming...it may be a long morning here.
Question for those babies born in NSW - did you have to have your babies birth certificate BEFORE getting them on Medicare card??? I am still waiting for Amaras birth certiicate.
-
Hi Mummies!!
Just came back from dr getting Calebs 2month vaccination shots, he cried so hard for about 20 seconds then came right and was smiling and talking, hes a bit off his routine today but im not pushing him as i know its the vax thats putting him out so today and probably tomorrow i will just relax and let him rest a bit more. I think hes going through another growth spurt as well so that combined with the vax is not a happy little man.
