Brooke, glad Maya is getting better. Haven't had a chance to go to the other thread, but Im assuming what you said in here is the same as over there. I have heaps of issues with Coby eating. I've started putting a little bit of Kraft Cheddar Cheese Spread into his vegies, rice or whatever I can really, and he loves it. I have also heard friends say they put vegemite in their vegetables, and they like that too. I guess its about finding something that they really like (a taste I mean) and trying to add that to things. Its hard though isn't it....Let us know how you go...
Kate, how is poor little Kelse? Are you over it completely now?
Kate/Rachel/others - Yes I've been organising Coby's first birthday for a little while now. Its a big event, but we are toning it down, otherwise he will get completely overwhelmed by it all. Just family, a few little friends from mothers group etc and we are having it at home, a lunch time affair with just simple foods that we can all enjoy, without anyone having to run around too much in the kitchen, sandwiches and party foods, but some nice warm foods if it is cold. We have a huge outdoor area with a chiminea (mexican fireplace) so we can use that if its cold, plus we've got a huge double garage and a carport other side of it, so heaps of room....
Rachel, WTG on another toothiepeg for Blake. Coby has another top tooth too, that's 4 in total.....Great choppers!!
Not much going on with us, Coby is going well other than this horrible cold he's got, its still hanging around and its pretty bad, but he's in good spirits, so thats something at least. We didn't go to swimming today because of it, not that he knows, but I still feel sorry for him. We have a very huge/exciting week this week, my very best friend is coming back from the UK for about 6 weeks, she recently had a baby in Feb so she will meet Coby and I will meet her daughter Ava for the very first time. I cannot wait, they will be home on Thursday afternoon!!
Oh and I think my little op worked last month, I think AF is lurking around the corner.....pooooo:rolleyes:
-
I am also starting to think about 1st birthdays. We have mums group the day before Pup turns 1 and we have just started taking it in turns to hold meetings at our houses (I think I may have already mentioned this?). Anyway, I put my hand up for the July meeting, so that means we can have a small party for Pup with just the mums group ladies and bubs and then a family (ish) one on the weekend.
-
Morning all,
Kate honey, I'm so sorry I didn't whisper soft enough and Kelsey got the bug. Poor little love. I hope she's starting to feel better now. Are you going to take her to the doctors? There's probably not much they can do apart from make sure she's not dehydrated.
Brooke, I'm so pleased little Miss Maya's hand is healing. It must be hard for her to crawl around (or have I missed something and she's up and walking. I know she's advanced so she may well be!) Hopefully it will heal up quickly.
Bel, how exciting for you to have your girlfriend coming home for 6 weeks. It will be wonderful for her to meet Coby and for you to meet Ava.
Vanita, I will have to speak to hubby to get the bike seat back on his bike and see if we can get out for a ride. I don't know how Blake will like it. It's so hard to keep him still, however he might enjoy the change of scenery. Must make sure it warm enough... Hmm, bike helmet too I guess. I will try Viv's old one on but it's bright pink with frogs on it, no I think it's turtles. Can't imagine him wearing a bright pink one. Knowing him he's got such a boof head it may not fit. Will look into that later!
Birthdays! It is going to be interesting how we work out the birthday thing with two kids a day apart. We spoke to Viv not long after we fell pregnant, and along the way once we worked out the EDD to be close to her birthday that how we celebrate birthdays might change once the baby arrived. It started with her having her party last year a month before the actual date because there was no way I was going to do anything @ 40wks pg, or even in hospital post birth.
We had told Viv that birthdays might be celebrated with bigger parties alternate years, and seeing Vivienne would be 10 next year we would want to celebrate that. We said we would probably do more of a celebration for Blake this year in turning 1 and a big one for her next year turning 10. She was pretty cool with that.
Not that she will miss out. We will have a joint family one for them both on the weekend - possible at lunch or afternoon tea time as this will suit Blake better. Vanita, in years to come will will probably do the lunch/a'noon tea or a'noon tea/dinner when the both get a party as they are too far apart in age to share a party. As they are 8 years old, there will be milestones reached the same year - Blake 5/Viv 13, Blake 10/Viv 18, Blake 13/Viv 21! I think we will be saving up for those years!
Back to this year, as I never had a mothers group (grrrr MCHN) I won't be having one of those but I will take a cake to the playgroup we go to. We will have a family party as I mentioned before and we will have a small something for Viv. She mentioned on the weekend she hasn't been to the zoo for a while and wanted to go. I suggested we could go for her birthday and take a friend, so we may do that. We may just have some take away and cake with a couple of her friends with a video night or something like that.
That's probably enough of me waffling. Blake's tooth has well and truly come through - the top one, which is his 7th, and his 8 is about to pop too. Hopefully that's it for a while. When is the next one due?
OK, I've got stuff to do before my boy wakes. Have a good day.
-
Rachel, that is a sensible and fair way of celebrating viv and blake's birthdays. It's good that the Big 1 and big 10 worked out to be in different years!!
In the baseball team that DH plays in, there were 4 of us that had babies within 3 months of each other. Can you imagine the 18ths and 21sts if we are all still friendly with each other!! OMG.
-
Rachel, can just picture the pink helmet on Blake LOL, Dion and Rianna both have the same helmet, its got jungle animals, so multi sex!!! I usually put a beanie on underneath, and mittens, as well as a coat, and buddy stays nice and snuggly, he wont stay still normally either, but is happy on the bike AS LONG AS I DONT STOP!!!! Then he cracks the narnies!!!!
My SIL had my nephew on the twins birthday, so that is a struggle, now ( My DH is still fuming, as she was booked in to have her elective csec 3 days later, but discided to do it early, as then she would have a few days peace from her large greek family, as they all knew it was happening in 3 days. I say Im over it, who gives a ...)
-
Hi ya girls,
Brooke, I put Dion down in the cot, and usually he goes straight to sleep( or has a little chat first) but if he's crying, I try the pat through the sides, and if thats not working I pick him up and cuddle, or BB feed, then when he's nearly asleep I pop him back down, this usually works. Glad to hear Maya is adapting to not being lain with ( you will be glad in the end, and all you hard work will be rewarded:clap: )
Yup we have been bike riding with Dion since january, and its fun ( except for my thighs LOL:cryinglaugh: )
I sooo KWYM about the small towns, I was born and bred in a small country town, and like many moved city bound for schooling at 18. I tell DH that we have to move out further soon, as Pakenham is developing, and getting claustraphobic. Would love to go country, but are in agreeance not to move anywhere till the kids are all school age, then dont need as much babysitting ( my mum lives 5 minutes from us);)
I hope Maya works out the food, textures etc.
Well Dion has been yuck the last few days, as usual with kids dunno what it is. He's been pooing 7-8 times ( real watery) crying ++++ not eating too good, but BB feeding heaps more, he's drooling heaps, so am not sure if its teeth or something worse, he's also pulling on his ear( right one) so could be an ear infection??? No temp so duuno, just keeping an eye on it.
Well I hope you all good.
-
Oh Brooke you have one VERY strong willed little girl there, no one will ever take advantage of her - very difficult to parent though.
-
I hope you have a high tolerance level, and a lot of patience
-
Brooke, Pup went through a small caper like Maya. I just reverted back to the rice cereal mixed with fruit puree and started all over again. That being said, he still won't tolerate lumps and chunks on a spoon, but is happy to feed himself dry biscuits, toast, small bits of meat etc... Will Maya take finger food to feed herself just a little bit??
Well, we went to the MCHN today. We missed last week cause I forgot, so it has been 5 weeks since we were there last. And Pup didn't put on one iota! Not a gram! In fact, I think he might have lost some as I had just given him his lunch (out of a can..120gms worth) before he got weighed. He put on 1.8 cms in length and only 0.2cm around his head. MCHN said that no weight gain was ok (also considering he lengthened) but would like to see weight gain next measurement. Anyone else's bub done this?
-
Ok, Im officially annoyed. This new forum will be great when its up and running properly, but I haven't been receiving any emails with replies to threads, so I've missed heaps....AAARRRGGHHHHH:mad:
Anyway, Hi all, hope you are all well.
Brooke, when Coby's teeth were really troubling him, he wouldn't eat anything. I put it down to that. Its so hard at the mo, its really just a guessing game, but remember, you know here better than anyone and you know what your gut feelings are, so believe them over anything else, because they are usually right. I have told people and clinic sister/dr all my theories about why Coby does the things that he does at certain times and they poo poo it, but it turns out in the end that my instincts were right. Just one of those phases you have to ride out I guess. Keep your chin up honey, and just feed her the pureed stuff if that's all she wants, at least you know she's eating something then. We went back to pureed stuff, Coby is an awful eater, won't eat anything with the tiniest chunk in it.....
Kate/Vanita/Hayseed - how are you all going? Hope you are all well....
Hi to all the other girls I may have missed.
Coby is going well, still has that nuisance of a cold but he's been in good spirits with it, so I can't complain really, just worried about him. He's on the tail end of it I think, he seems to be coming good.
My friend from overseas arrived this morning I think we will go and see her tomorrow, let her settle in and get over the jet lag and then we will bombard her with COBY!! Hope he's not too much of a handful for them....tee he he
Anyway, must go I feel like I've been on this computer all day, Im going to put my feet up on the lounge and have some me time...
-
I find it hard, celebrating the fact that Im a mother, when I have to also celebrate mine and Dh's mothers IYKWIM> For lunch so that she doesnt have to cook, we are all bringing stuff to Chris's mothers house, he put me down for a lasagne and a bok choy salad. We were going to go out for dinner with my mother, but she left it to late and we couldnt get in anywhere, so are having it at her house, and I am making a zuchini slice, bok choy salad and a pavlova. so except for breakfast I will be in the car running around, and coz of the limited time I will be spending tomorrow in the kitchen preparing. :boohoo:
I think one year I am going to organise a day away for me and MY family:p
I hope you all have a VERY VERY VERY special first ( for most) Mothers day. and the old hands, enjoy yourselves too!!! Make sure you get you breaky in bed!!!!:)
-
Oh and Kate have a lovely night out on us LOL!!!
-
Oh Kate, have a lovely night out tomorrow!
Vanita, bummer about having to do all that food prep tomorrow and running around on Sunday. I hope you get time to enjoy yourself, and definitely make sure brekky in bed is on the menu. Re you saying you're going to organise a day away for yourself one year, I used to work with a guy who would play golf with his dad on Fathers day and whose wife would go shopping or movies and lunch with her Mum on Mothers Day. I thought it was a great idea - it's their day, why not do something you enjoy with someone you love?
Happy Mothers Day everyone. xx
-

I just lost a HUGE post. It was a rant about DH and how we had a huge blue last night. God that makes me cross.
But typing it out didn't make me feel any better, so I'm obviously still extremely mad and upset about it.
Men are just such babies sometimes. We should get a mothers day gift from them as some of them want us to just take over the role of mother to them! Stinking husbands....
(you can tell I'm angry hey??)
-
My DH gets me a Mothers day pressie, and card from him every year, its his appreciation of the job I do, as a mother to his children ( not a very good job tonight, have just boiled the spuds dry and theres the horrid smell of burnt potatoes every where!!! YUK. )
Hay, I am very sorry you had a fight tonight, hope it all resolves, and that this helps to clear the air I agree Men are big babies, and I dont think they actually ever grow up, or grow out of the "selfish" phase, TBH when I get cross over his selfishness, i try remind myself he doesnt mean it, and just doesnt know any better.
-
Hi and happy Mothers Day to you all.
I hope you have enjoyed your days.
Little Al is sick as a dog. He was a bit grouchy yesterday, but last night it progressed into vomiting and diarrhoea. More of the same today. He is on the couch watching Teletubby tapes right now. He's got a temp and is a sick little boy. :-( I hope it is just a little bug and it passes quickly for him. So I am having a proper mothers day here, being needed by my DS.
Hope Dion is feeling better Vanita.
Could this be a teething related thing - to have a temp and tummy problems? He looks like he has at least 3 teeth coming...
-
Aww, Deb, I hope Al is better soon, poor little vegemite xxxooo to him.
Hay, must be the season for it, DH and I had a massive blue yesterday on Mothers Day, he didn't get me anything, I was sooooo upset and furious with him:angry: but its all resolved now and he's apologised etc, but it still won't erase what a crappy first mothers day I had.....
Hi Brooke, Kate,Vanita, and anyone else I've missed.
We've been pretty quiet here lately, my friend is home from UK but we've only seen her once, she's been pretty busy with family which is understandable. Going to catch up with her quickly again this morning....
Coby still has that cold, he just can't shake it, Im reluctant to go to the dr cause he'll only prescribe antibiotics and I really should just let it run its course. But Im worried about it going to an ear infection again, because he's been rubbing his ears the last 2 days or so. Hopefully he'll be fine though.
I nearly lost it yesterday, I had a bad day, but Coby was vomitting all day too, and I know he can't help it, but goodness me, I've been putting up with this since he was born and its nearly 12 months on and he's STILL vomitting, its just driving me insane. I have to take a breather and realise that he doesn't mean it, its nothing he can control. But just sooo sick of cleaning up vomit and smelling like vomit. Its just infuriating....
-
Woohoo Kate for Member of the Month! They made the right choice as you are super wonderful to have in this thread and you probably add a lot to many others. Good on you.:)
Great idea about the mothers group having a Kris Kringle and a party for all of them at the same time. I have just written an email off to our group suggesting the same, thanks to you. I hope they go for it.
Glad to hear your weekend was good.
I meant to reply about something you asked in an ealrier post...now what was that? Oh yes, in relation to difficulty TTC. Well theory has it that Danish men have very low sperm count (in general compared to other countries in europe) 2 out of 10 will be lucky to ever be a father. So DH is not in that category of course, but we still wonder if it plays a part in the wait? Just theory anyway...we are still trying here anyway!
And DS is feeling a little better, still not 100% yet. Poor little love.
-
Hi girls, how are we all?
Kate - AF arrived last week for the first time since my mini op. I was glad too, because it means that I am at least functioning normally. Not trying really, just not "not trying" IYKWIM?? I have an appointment to see my specialist this week, so we'll see what he's got to say about it all, just a follow up, so Im sure I'll sit there for 3 hours waiting for him to see me for 2 minutes and say "oh yes, all seems right" and that'll be $180 thanks!!
Deb, I had no idea that Danes had a lower sperm count, how odd, I wonder why? Good luck to you TTC #2!!
Well we've been at the doctors today with Coby with this silly cold, I just thought it had gone on long enough. So more anti's and hopefully this will do the trick! I also asked to Dr about Coby's behavioural issues (he's VERY headstrong and stubborn and throws tantrums all the time) but he seems to think its normal. He gave me a few strategies for dealing with and combatting it,so I'll speak to DH tonight as he has to be involved in the strategies and we'll work something out together. Hopefully it will all work soon enough, Im not going to be one of these mothers that lets their kids run riot!!:happyforyou:
-
No I agree Bel, about not letting them run riot, I know there is a few honest cases of ADD, but in my opinion a lot of them are really ADD ( Anti Discipline Disorder) On the days I am unwell, or tired, I dont seem to be bothered to keep an eye on the discilpine, and they turn feral, and misbehave, if I am on the ball, and monitoring their behaviour, correcting it as needed they dont seem to get too far gone, and are fairly well behaved. So I figure if you cant be bothered at all ( and it is easier to do nothing than discipline, as healthy discipline is hard work) I think your kids would be feral all the time YKWIM??????
Anyway that is just Mine and DH's opinions, its hard work to discipline with love and understanding, but it is also one of the most important things we can do for our kids.
Bel, good luck with the trying / not trying, I hope Coby is better real soon, ans that the antis work.
Oh almost forgot, It wonderful (NOT) but Dion ( smartypants) has learnt how to open the back door ( sliding) we installed a security door, to keep Rianna in, but if she's in bed, I dont always have it closed, and Dion got out today, Dh was in the back yard cleaning out the guines pigs cage, and who comes a crawling!!!! So gonna have to keep the security door shut 24/7 UGH!!! It took the other kids til they were nearly 2 to figure it out!!!!
-
Ugh.
We had our first accident today. Pup is now standing up (on furniture, people, anything that is still for a couple of seconds!) quite well, but tonight, he tried to get leverage on an empty clothes basket and it slipped out from under him and he face planted the floor boards. There was a god almighty scream and he immediately had a blue briuse and egg on his forehead :crying: . I felt so bad, I cried. I gave him some baby panadol and tried to put ice on it, but he was having none of that. 5 minutes later, he was smiling and giggling with daddy.
Tuff nuts hey?
God....it's the start of many to come......
-
Hi Kate, will look up the info, had not noticed it, I would love to, if it works in , but between work, swimming, jazz, playgroup, youth group, I dont get much time spare..
Hi Brooke, So cute listening to DH snore over the intercom, I always find If Dion is upset and DH settles him , they both end up asleep!!! Is your nanna getting out soon?? Hows she moving around these days?? Using a frame or independant?? Congrats on the housing finance, its good when it all gets settled. WTG on the tests/ assignments, I admire you, I couldnt study ( I can barely keep up with the housework LOL)
Awwww Hay, its dreadful when they hurt themselves, I hate it. for pup. I find mine always do something like that if I have photo sittings booked LOL. We find that we pause, to see if there is carnage, coz sometimes they fall and it sounds really bad, but they hop up and keep playing, DH and I look at each other and wait, if they start to scream we run to rescue.
I am sooo sad, I have lost my baby :crying: Dion walked two steps tonight, he was standing on the kitchen bench  and eating his daddy's dinner with him ( I was standing behind him, he was leaning against me, then he just stood up ( which he's been doing a bit lately) and walked 2 steps forward to get more food:help: he did it again and again, so did it about 5 times in total, he's such a ratbag, I didnt want him to walk too soon
-
Hi girls!
Wow Dion! WTG!! Oops sorry..condolences Vanita hehe! He is a clever little fellow.
RE sperm count..my theory is it is related to all the biking they do here...can't be good for the circulation in that area. But DH believes it has something to do with female hormones they are exposed to. I don't really understand that reason, but can vouch for them being quite sensitive, understanding and very nice fellows over here, all good female traits.
Brooke - tell your nanna we're thinking of her.
Kate - the kris kringle is a goer, they love the idea.
I have mothers group here tomorrow (gasp, i have a million things to do)) Al is still sick, so we went to the doctor - thought I should just check if it is an infectious thing and get the all clear for the other bubs to be with him. Doctor said its gastro (der) and there is nothing to do to treat it. But reckons he won't infect the other kids unless he wipes his bum with his hand then rubs it in another childs face (sorry if TMI), but it would be quite out of character for Al to do that, so not to worry. But Doc said the diarrhoea and fever have nothing to do with teething. Can that be right?? I KNOW Al has 2 eye teeth now poking through and at least 2 other teeth on the bottom coming as well. Is it just a coincidence? rhetorical question. Maybe doc is right and he ate a handful of nasty sand at the playground and that's what this is about. God we are both getting sick of changing nappies so much. Poor little love. Get better soon. Thanks for your thoughts too BTW.
Hi Hay, sorry about pup's bump, (kisses)
gotta go
xx
-
Morning all,
Kisses for Pup and his bumps! Yes, Hay it is the beginning of things to come. Blake's so much more mobile and standing up and as it is the case, falling down more now. He also keeps bumping into things when he crawls -when he crawls fast he drops his head and forgets to look where he's going!
WTG Dion!!! Commiserations Vanita on Dion starting to walk. They'll be no stopping him now!
Deb, sorry to hear Al's still sick. I hope he gets better soon, and is well enough to enjoy mothers group.
Bel, what sort of strategies did you learn for Coby? Have they started to make any difference yet?
kate, I will have to find your other thread. Will try and get to there if I can. How's your pg coming along? I haven't been on much. Will have to read your pg thread to catch up. How many weeks are you now?
Brooke baby, congrats on the official confirmation of your financing. It's a great feeling isn't it. I'm glad Maya is getting a bit more food into her, I'll get Blake to send her some eating vibes! (He has no probs at all!)
And so to our news... if you haven't seen my other thread... We'll be in Paris in less than a month! DH is going for work so I'm going to go with him! Viv and Blake are going to my mum's while we're away. It's only going to be a flying visit - about 10 days away in total but hey, it's Paris! I can't wait.
Blake cut another tooth yesterday and has been sleeping better since. The last two nights I've only been up to him once each night. Now that's an improvement and I have to say I love waking up in my own bed next to my husband!
Not much other news - I'm pretty consumed with the whole Paris thing, and I've been doing some typing work for my stepdad which will give me some pocket money for the trip. Blake's doing well well and even better with the teeth through. He has 8 now. I'm hoping for a bit of a break before the next ones. I'll check Viv's baby book to see what she did as Blake's been fairly similar.
Have a good afternoon
xx
-
Last night, Pup gave us a wave! A real one, not just an excited uncontrolled wave of his arms. We were at my mum's for dinner and wehen we were leaving my mum waved bye bye to him and he repeated it. I thought it was a fluke, but we did it again and he also did it again. This is monumentous for us....up to this, he hasn't uttered a word, has only one tooth, has just started standing up, isn't clapping hands and hasn't put on weight in the past 5 weeks. So this gesture of goodbye puts me at ease about his development somewhat!
-
WTG Pup!!! what a clever boy!
Kate, will try and get to the get togethers although at the moment I'm pretty focussed on saving every cent for Paris - yeah I know a coffee doesn't cost much, it's just on one wage there's not much spare so I'm saving every cent. Maybe when we get back - that's only in 5.5 weeks, so we'll be there before you know it!
-
Just jumping on quickly to say, the doc was right! I have to eat my words. Because both DH and I have been sick since wednesday night with this horrendous stomach virus thing. So I cancelled the mothers group last minute, which I felt terrible for doing, but there was no other choice, I could barely move around to look after the baby yesterday. I am still crook, but trying to study now for class tonight, I really want to get this course finished now, the end is in sight.
Kate - the group speaks Danish together, I usually speak in english, but they can understand what I say, and I can understand most of what they say too. So it works alright. Some days are better coping days than others..such as now, would be great if I could send Al over to mums.
Hayseed - woohoo for the wave!
Will catch up on the others over the weekend.
Paris?? Sounds wonderful!
xx
-
I would have loved to go to the expo, but time isn't kind atm. I have 60 calves in the shed atm which I have to feed, so it is getting pretty full on. I'm getting more tomorrow morning...sigh.
Ans some of them are as picky about their food as Pup is about his!!! LOL
-
Hi everyone,
Well I have been MIA for about 6+ weeks and I have missed you all. Will catch up properly with personals later. We moved to Pakenham two weeks ago and love the new house and now town. I am catching the country VLine train to and from work everyday and the 1 hr trip each way is great. Amy is really well and she is standing on her own all the time and has taken two steps. She is really close to walking. She has 8 teeth! We were watching the top one that was missing and didn't see the other two come through on the bottom. She is eating and sleeping well and saying lots. DH is still full time with her and we are looking into starting family day care now we have a decent sized house so she can have friends to play with. Testing on Friday, not many signs the last few days so will wait and see. Hope you babies are all well. Will catch up with you all soon.
-
Brooke, just a quick suggestion, put some of her toys away, and rotate them, bring them out for a week, then swap, it stops them getting so bored so quick.
-
With Dion it is any phone, or remote control!!keys are a favorite, along with grannies glasses. Though his ( and the other kids ) most favorite thing, is outside!!! Do you remember the series of adds ( mastercard I think) where it went on to say $36 for the latest book, etc etc, and watching them play with the box it came in .... priceless... its sooo true.
Do you know anyone purcahsing an appliance, coz a washing machine box is a fabulous toy!~!!~!!!
-
Hi gorgeous girls and bubs, how are you all? Sorry I've been MIA lately, just been so busy, with my friend back from OS and plenty of social stuff on at the mo, its just hectic.
Have had 2 friends have babies in the last 2 weeks, one was VERY early at 34 weeks and he's in the NICU and they aren't sure what's wrong with him (Im not getting very much information from the mum either...) and my other friend had a little boy and they are just gorgeous - so many babies, so little time!!
Coby is going well, getting more teeth, I suppose its just a constant thing now until they are all through. He still has that wretched cold, he just can't shake it, even though I finally went to the Dr and got him some anti's they still aren't doing the trick, dunno what else I can do....Any suggestions? Less than 3 weeks until Coby is 1, Im so sad about it, because this year has just gone way too fast.:crying: but at the same time, its a momentous occasion....How are you all feeling now that their first birthday's are drawing nearer?
Must go, sorry for no personals, I will try and keep up with you guys now.
-
Hi all,
We had the worst night last night (sorry to start with my news, but my brain is so dead that I don't know if I'll get to personals.) I don't know what was wrong with Blake. He woke up about 10.20pm - just after I went to bed, and wouldn't settle back down. I got out a burp but he just lay there wriggling for about 45 minutes before he went back to sleep. Then he woke just before 1am and I finally got him back to sleep after a bottle and a nappy change for good measure, about 3.15am. He was just lying there with his eyes open but if I got up to go to leave the room he just howled. I even tried getting into the single bed with him and he just played and wriggled and stuffed his fingers up my nose, and picked and my teeth. I was in tears about 2.50am and got him the bottle. Even then it took him a while to go to sleep. He woke again at 4.50am but luckily it was only to be replugged. Then he slept through until 8am. I've just managed to get him back to bed, to sleep but even then I had to let him wriggle for a while and go back to him after about 10 minutes. I think I'll go back to bed cause I was soooo fractured last night that I can't do it again.
Sorry for the big whinge, I'm just exhausted.
Kate, sounds like you had a great time yesterday, and at the expo and museum.
Hayseed, sounds like you have your handsful with all those babies! How cute!
Hello to everyone else.
I'm off to bed!
-
Ohh Rach, I hope it is just a one night phase. There is just nothing worse than when nights like that come out of the blue and you are totally unprepared for them.
Brooke, I was going to suggest the same as Vanita about taking some toys away and rotating them. I have to do that. In fact, I'm up for a toy cull today!
Gemma, good to hear from you. Good luck with testing. I'm out for the moment. Dirty ol' AF showed up 2 days ago...a bit miffed too as my temps were looking GREAT. Hopefully next month will be the go as my cycles look like they are coming back to normal now (last 2 have been not bad lengthwise).
I had my first night out last night without Pup and without DH. I went to the pictures with my mum to see the DaVinci Code. Not bad. Entertainment value. Mind you, the movie started at 9.15pm (yawn!) so all the work with Pup had been done and he was asleep when I left. DH was in the exact same position as he was when I walked out and no dishes done, no cleaning up of the lounge room...nothing. Here he was snoring his bloody head off. So at 12.15am, I was loading the dishwasher and cleaning up the kitchen.
Even after our big blue the other day about him needing to pitch in, nothing seems to have sunk in. Sigh.....

Oh Rach, what a terrible night for you, thankfully we've only had one of those nights and it was because Coby was sick and woke himself coughing and carrying on. I hope its not a trend that continues for you - sleepy vibes for you and Blake...:asleep:
Hayseed, on the DH front, aren't they useless sometimes. Try as you might to get it through to them that you need help around the house, it just doesn't seem to penetrate their thick skulls. My DH and I have had lengthy discussions regarding this topic, and he is on the whole pretty good, its just that he's hardly home. Good luck with getting it through to your DH, perhaps a hammer over the noggen might do the trick??:wall:
Brooke, WTG Maya on sleeping through, good little chicken she is!! I was advised by my gyno to have a mirena put in, and I refused. My libido isn't great anyway, and I certainly don't need it to be any lower! Boo to the spermicide and frenchies, back to that again?? What are you gonna do? Did you fall really easily with Maya? If not, maybe rythm method?
I've had a fantastic day with Coby, he's been a good little man today, all except for a vomitting episode, but it was because of this darn cold. He coughs and gags on the flegm that he coughs up (sorry for TMI) and he had a MASSIVE vomit in his bedroom, all over curtains, carpet, change table, nappy wrapper, nappy stacker, it was EVERYWHERE. Poor thing though, I felt very sorry for him, but it was me who had to clean it all up, I just didn't know where to start. All done though.
Hey Brooke, I forgot to ask, hows your nanna? And what's happening with the house and the move etc....I just had a look at Maya's website, she is such a gorgeous girl! What about her eating that pasta!! That's hilarious!!
Kate how are you travelling honey?

Hello girlies,
Hay, Have your DH and mine been trading tips??? I have had a DH like that for nearly 10 yrs, and I dont think it will ever change, one day he can be fabulous, and do extra's and all, and then the next day he does absolutely nufin:angry: Men,
Brooke, so Maya was a destiny child??? I have 4 of those LOL. I hope your nanna recovers wel, and that she's back to herself in no time. good girl Maya for giving mummy a sleep in ( what are they by the way???)
Kate, glad to hear you had a good time, hopefully will be able to make it to a few, soooo busy, I hope your pg is progressing well, and that you are feeling good.
Bel, What sort of thing have you tried?? TBH it sounds a lot like Dion has been since 6 weeks, and the only thing we've found really works is dimetapp to dry up the excess mucous, it seems to stop him vommiting everywhere. We are going to get Dion tested for allergies at 12 months, as the paed is sure that is whats causing his "cold" that its more like hayfever KWIM? Anyway I hope something works for him soon, maybe look into allergies??
Gemma welcome to Pakky!! LOL hope you are well and that work isnt ruining your life LOL I am lucky, I dont have a life for work to ruin:p
Rachel:hug: hope you are more rested now, and that whatever was upsetting him ( it sound like a tummy upset ) is over I would take note of what he ate that day, was there anything new??? a warm bath sometimes helps, if it ever happens again ( fingers crossed it doesnt)

Hi Vanita, yeah, we've been down the allergy road, we are scheduled to have a blood test on or near his first birthday, testing for coeliac disease, but we have also concluded that he is a hayfever sufferer. Yes, I've tried pretty much everything, Dimetapp, Demazin, vapourisers, chest rubs, the works, nothing is working. My GP just gave me a presription for some Claratyne for the allergies, and I've filled it, so I might give that a go this morning. Its just so frustrating, I just keep being told by pharmacy people that there is nothing you can do because he is under 2 years of age. What a croc!! My GP is fabulous, so I will give the Claratyne a go today and see if that makes any difference. I am going to phone the GP today because Coby has finished his anti's and its still hanging around. So Im going to see what he recommneds. Coby is rattly in the chest too, so that's what makes me believe that this is more than allergies. I suffer quite badly with hayfever/eczma/occassional asthma, so obviously he's got my yucky system, poor little man....
Are there any other recommendations that I've missed?

Bel, it sucks hey, one thing after another, but often with no result. Parenting is trial and error ( more error LOL)
Brooke, it depends what type of lifestyle you are after??? The "rural" but city family lifestyle or the close to entertainment ( theatres etc) I used to love Pakenham, country like, affordable, but it is developing in leaps and bounds, and is starting to get quite busy, am getting claustriphobic, so we will be moving further out country when we relocate in the next few years.

Hi Kate, that's gorgeous that Kelsey was filing her nails, what a great helper she is!! They are at such a lovely age aren't they? They are starting to interact a lot better and understand more of what we are saying and doing with them.
Brooke, I wouldn't worry about Maya, Coby is only 8.7kgs, but he's on the small side I suppose, he's only in 00's still. Remember they are all different shapes and sizes! BTW Im going back to the GP tomorrow morning, he's concerned as I phoned him this afternoon and told him that it still hasn't cleared and that his chest is rattly, so he wants to see him to make an educated diagnosis. So hopefully by this time tomorrow, we'll be on the road to recovery!!
Coby had his first hair cut today, just a little trim around his face, because it was hanging in his eyes, so the hairdresser just trimmed it up for him, he looks so grown up now. I kept the hair, not that there was much of it, but I kept it just the same!!

Brooke, its true what they say - they play up for the parents but are angels for everyone else....
There are things that Coby will do for others but definitely not me. I think because we are with them all day, they know how far they can push us, so they do....Just a thought...
