No crawling here either... well not technically.
And to be truthful, I am darn glad that Lach isnt crawling!!!!! I don't want him to crawl for a while. He gets around enough at the minute. lol. I am forever dragging him out from under the coffee table, and from behind the recliners... lol
How did everyone go about introducing solids? We have only given Lach pureed fruit and vegies at this stage, and I'm wondering how long everyone else is pueeing food for, and what foods you have introduced.
Lach has had:
Pumpkin
Avocado
Apple
Pear
Sweet potato
and some mixed vegies and fruits in jars when we've been out.
When has everyone elxse decided to try something a little different? A little lumpier, or a 'meal'?
Solids are going so so well here. Lach eats everything, so I am tempted to try something diff and just wanted to know what everyone else has done.
cheers
Nicky

Nicky, I started Autumn a little early at 5m because she seemed to be so interested and she has taken everything I've thrown at her really well. By probably about week 3 I had stopped pureeing and was just mashing (lumpy mash) or grating (except if neither of these was possible) and was also giving finger food by about week 4 (soft veg like pumpkin, avocado, then broccoli etc pretty soon after) I added meat by week 8 or so (poached chicken cut up small - about pinky nail size- and mince) This week I have added tuna and toast with just a scraping of vegemite which is the first processed food she's had. I am still holding off on dairy, tomato, citrus and a lot of wheat at least for another month or two. The wholesome baby food site is good for info. HTH.
This is a stupid stress, I know, but I'm finding night time dressing a real pain - warm at bedtime, cool in the early morning - I almost can't wait for winter!:wall:
-
Nicky- Oscar has just recently started eating all his food and not spitting any back out at me  So I am going to continue with the pureed food for a few more weeks then start mashing and see how he goes. So far Oscar has had:
*Pear
*Apple
*Pumpkin
*Zucchini
*Sweet Potato
*Potato
*Corn
*Broccolli (sp?!)
I think that is all he has tried so far. I am starting to mix things together now which he loves ;)
Things here are going ok, Oscar is trying to crawl!! He gets up on his knees and rocks. He can get his knees forward but doesn't know what to do with his hands so he ends up flopping on the floor  I have been feeling pretty average so I'm just trying to take it easy for a while. I will really try and get back here over the weekend to say Hi to everyone as I haven't had a chance to go over personals.
Hope you are all well! :hugs:

Well Olivia does the lazy crawl as I call it. She just hasn't worked out how to do the hands and legs at the same time, so she does hands and drags, then up on knees, then collapses and drags herself with her hands again. She will get there soon, one day she will just take off!
As for food, Olivia has pretty much everything. She has lots of lumps in her food now, I made her a casserole the other day and pureed it only until there were only small lumps in it. She loves anything I give her (which is a bit of a worry as she doesn't stop eating).
We have a funeral to go to soon, and I needed to wake Olivia up a little early than usual. But typical, she sleeps every day for 2 hours at this time not a problem, but when I REALLY need her to sleep she doesn't.....THIS BABY IS A VERY SMART COOKIE!!!!
-
I always says this but this may only be a short post as T is due to wake up for a feed. i have been on here for ages but looking in the nappy thread as i want to get some more MCN and want to try something different. There is too much to choose from! Worse than shoes!
Megan - Tom is doing a bit of a Lucas today and not drinking his bottles. His 11.30am one he drank 50ml. But i am getting heavy wet nappies so not panicking at this stage. He did this once before - before solids - and i posted about it because i was worried. Most people suggested teething or maybe even a sore throat. He was back to normal after a few days though. Hope its all going a bit better for you.
Nicky - Tom has tried most things that the other girls mention too. He is not a massive eater and definiately prefers fruit. I use the wholesomebabyfood website too and its got some good combination of things to mix to put a bit of variety in their meals - like pumpkin and apples together, which i wouldn't eat but T seems to love. The only thing he has hated hated hated is peas. I dont even know why i gave them to him as DH and I both hate them and never eat them. I think i was trying to be super mum. He wouldn't eat anything for 3 days afterwards.
Jan - hope Liam is doing better, poor little thing. Isn't emergency interesting? I had to go with my sister a while ago and the lady in the cubicle next to us kept us entertained for hours. She was having an affair and was in the car with her lover when they had an accident. Then the husband turned up.. It was like Bold and the Beautiful. I have no idea what she looked like - this information was all gathered thru the curtains. It was drama, drama!
Tom is not doing the proper crawling yet but he is surprising fast. He keeps getting stuck under the dining table or with his legs under the couch, then screaming to be saved. I am another one who is not really looking forward to crawling - as cute as it will be. There is a few crawlers in mums group and it makes everything a little bit more difficult. Tom can get up on his hands and knees and he rocks backwards and forwards so it wont be long now.
Sacha - I am having trouble at night too! Most of the time it is still warm in the house at 7 when he goes to bed, but cools down alot later on. If i put him in a longsleeved suit he is too hot to start off with, but short sleeves he gets too cold in the middle of the night and he wont sleep with his hands under the blanket. I need like 'arm warmers' that i can go in and put on him before i go to bed! Bring on winter i say, then we can just make them all snuggly and warm in suits and under blankets.
Bec - poor Xavier. I hope sleeping improves. I have heard they go a bit crazy around this time because there is just so much happening for them that they cant settle properly.
Opps better go - the man is awake. Hope e/one has a good w/end!!
-
Dani, I just noticed your new signature. Yey on TTC soon. Woo Hoo, the excitment begins again!! Good luck. I can't wait to read about your progress.
Damm it, I knew once I sat down and started to type DH would get home.
BBL ladies :)
-
Danni, that's the kind of movement Autie was doing right before she started to crawl properly so watch out! :) Hope you're feeling better.
Em, LOL at your B and B drama! I once watched from an ER bed as a little old lady kept taking off her gown and wandering around naked - bit sad really, though it sounds funny. She was an irritable old thing too - kept telling all the staff off for imaginary things. I have often wished for arm warmers too! I was dressing like you, with short sleeves, then putting a cardy over it later, but the past couple of nights I have been putting her in a footless onesie and using the AC until it starts to cool down.
Lis, they seem to have an uncanny ability to read minds don't they? I think they pick up on the tension when you really need them to sleep, and that puts them off. It took me an hour and half the other night when DH arrived home and I really wanted to get back out and spend time with him
I have started using the normal bath for Autie and she has decided it's a swimming pool and does laps (with a lot of splashing) She loves pulling the plug and watching the water drain out too, then gets upset when there's none left to swim in LOL She's crawling well and with kitchen gated and the bedroom/study doors shut, she pretty much has the run of the house - it's all been Autie-proofed. Sometimes when she's gone quiet, I'll call out "where are you?" and this little face appears around the corner with a look like 'whaddaya want? I'm busy" I finally managed to get hold of a Little Tikes Activity Garden on ebay that you can't get new anymore. We used to have one at work years ago and all the kids loved it and it's a great height for learning to stand up against. My auntie has it in Brisbane waiting for me to pick it up and I can't wait to let Autie loose on it.
Well that's all our news. Hope everyone is feeling cheery.

Hi Ladies:)
Its been awhile! I wont do personals as i have missed alot and haven't had much time to catch up on it all. Ethan is over his spider bites and surgery completely! YAY! Its like it never happened!I also think his hearing is fin as there seems to be no problems there. I have had a yucky case of gastro for the last four days, the vomiting and diarreah stopped today but my stomach still feels awful. I took ethan on his first trip to the beach unfortunately the weather was so cold and windy where we went so he only got to dip his feet in! We were dressed in pants and jumpers and ethan had to keep his hood on over his ears. We collected some shells and a little container of sand as a memento. I also got him a swimming pool, and he loves it! We have been having 42 degree days here and its so so humid.
Oh and im very proud of myself!! I have lost all my pregnancy weight and am now 2 kilos lighter than before i was pregnant!! Woo Hoo! I was 65.5kg was 83kg at 39 weeks pg and am now 63.5kg:clap: (gastr helped with the last 2 lol!! Now just need to do some toning:doh:
Ok ladies will BBL. I will also be updating Ethans website so will let you know when its done.
-
Nicky ~ I just mash vegies now. I did a whole heap of sweet potato last week. Lucas has also had, pumpkin, potato, zucchini, brocolli, oats, custard, apples which is the only fruit he likes so far...so nothing too fancy as yet. Will start him on chicken soon and liver too sooner or later. I'd also like to try him on the organic baby pasta you can buy at coles for 7+months.
I agree about the difficulty dressing at night! There have been many nights recently when we have snuck in in the wee hours to put a blanket on DS because it's too warm for one when he goes to bed.
What is everyone up to this weekend? We have a bbq today but not too much else planned. Have a good one! :D :D :D
-
What we need is a bodysuit with removeable arms so when it gets colder you just slip on the long arms and they attach at the sleeve with velcro. Somebody get on it ASAP and then give me royalties.
Great news about Ethan Jess. And congrats on your weight loss! maybe I should start thinking about it - I always said I wanted to be fitter the next time I conceived.
Nothing planned for us August. DH is away at work so I guess it will just be a quiet one yet again.
-
Ooooohh I like the idea of a body suit with removable arms - we need one of those here too!!
Great news Jess on Ethans recovery and yay on the weight loss. I am also on a toning frenzy as I have a reunion for an old job of mine coming up - AHHHHH!
Sacha - Autie sounds so cute in her "swimming pool".
Mel - how are you enjoying having DH home? HHmmmm how many reds shall I have tonight hehehehe!! Damn only one cause I am driving .
Bec - think you are amazing working full time with a young baby. I hope Xaviers sleeping improves for you soon. Enjoy your weekend.
Em - I hear you about how confusing the nappy thread is - I just cant get my head around all of the different types of nappies out there and what I boost with etc etc etc.
Well I am having a very quiet day as Oliver and Jesse are staying at my mum and dads tonight so it is just me and Charlotte! We have a 30th to go to tonight and as bad as this sounds I just cant be bothered as all I want to do it vege on the couch and eat cold rock icecream while watching a DVD!
I feel like we have turned a bit of a corner with charlotte and her solids - she was not too fussed by them but over the past two days has seemed a bit more into them which makes for a happier mummy!! She has been a bit of a biddy with her sleeping at the mo (biddy is her new nickname) and has been aking heaps but when she was having a big yawn this morning I saw right into the back of her mouth/throat and it looked a bit red back there so I might take her to the Dr next week.
Well I had better go and run and start getting ready for this party!
Hope this all makes sense as I havent read it back - oh well if it doesnt :D.
Have a great weekend everyone
Take care
Jem
-
I loooovvvvvvvvveeeeeee cold rock Jem. We can add that to our list of things we can do, in our weekend escape. Have fun tonight.
-
My fave fave fave cold rock ever and I get it every single time is low fat chocolate with cookie dough! OMG it is to die for. The party tonight is near a cold rock store so I might have to pop in on the way home!
Yes add it to the list - gee our list is filling up quickly:lol:!!

Well I have a new dress for the races next week, and some new shoes. It's the first time I have bought something nice since being pregnant with Charlize, can't wait to wear it. Still not 100% on the shoes as I think they are still a little high for my bung ankle. Might keep looking for some during the week. Will post of pic of the outfit once I get a chance. I have also decided to let Charlize and Jack stay at my parents for the night, so I can really relax and enjoy ourselves and best of all have a sleep in. I haven't slept past 6:00 for pretty much 2 years. Can't wait, you watch I probably won't be able to sleep at all.
A_M_M - I give Jack sliced toast about 1.5cm thick slices. He hasn't had a problem with swallowing them yet, but sometimes he has a little gag but back for more straight after.
Jess, so glad Ethan is all better. Congrats on the weight.
Bec, hope Xaviers sleeping improves soon.
Sacha, detachable sleeve bodysuit would be a great idea, maybe there is something in that!!
Em, Tom sounds like he is at the same stage of crawling as Jack. He has 3 of his limbs moving but just can't get one of his arms happening, it's so funny to watch.
I can't remember who asked about the crawling. But they are all so different. Charlize didn't even try to crawl until she was 10 months old. Then she didn't walk until she was 14months old. Jack is nearly crawling now, and once he masters that I don't think it will be long until he is walking, as he stands in his walker and walks. But starting late, doens't mean anything. Just means they are content to stay put. I was really worried with Charlize, that she was so slow to learn new things, but I was told, that she is just content and very smart to realize that she didn't need to move around herself, as she always had someone to do it for her. She then started too, when I just left her. So they are all different. Oh one more thing, my sisters kids starting crawling and walking very early, I think they were walking by 9 months. And they are both very gumby kids now, so it won't necessarliy mean they are smarter or more sterdy, IYKWIM. I'm not saying this is the case with all kids that start crawling and walking earlier, I'm just trying to explain, that either way, is normal.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend. Cooking a Pork Roast tonight and it smells so yummy.
Jem, I can't wait.
Talk again later.
-
I have been reading everything... its just so hard to keep up lol
Im so glad Ethan is getting better! What a champ!
Link will push himself forward on his tummy on the bed but not on the floor. I don't mind im happy for him to stay as still as possible cos once he starts moving the dogs are in BIG trouble! He already tries to grab them when they walk past him! he he he
I love Cold Rock ice cream, I had it the day I had my little man! mmmmm ice cream!
Link loves food, he gets excited and starts squealing as soon as I put him in his high chair! Quick question- Can I mix rice into his vegies and freeze it? And has anyone tried pasta with their bubbas? Its all so confusing!
Take care everyone! I will try to keep up!
xox
-
Nay, I don't see why you can't mix and freeze the rice. I give autie rice pasta which I cook then freeze in bags and just snap off a bit to mix when I'm choosing the other veg and meat to defrost. Haven't given wheat pasta yet.
Mel, you'll have a great time all dressed up in new clothes and kid-free for a bit. Hope you do manage your sleep in. Haven't had pork roast in ages...mmm, crackling...
Jem, good news on the eating. Hope she keeps it up for you and that she doesn't have a sore throat. Autie's sleep is out the window again too, I'm really feeling it today - hope it passes soon so we can both get some proper rest.
I'm getting a new car! I've been driving an old commodore since we had autie as my car didn't have four doors. It's been fine I guess but I'm definitely looking forward to something a little newer where all the buttons work! Hopefully, we can organise it this week while Dan's home. Gives me something to look forward to at least. I've been dragging a bit lately.
Autie pulled herself up against the safety gate yesterday. She was most upset when I sat her back down because it was on the tiles and I didn't have time right then to sit and help if she had problems. No more attempts today though.
Has anyone tried the Snugtime blanket sleeper suits? Tog rated like sleeping bags but with legs? I'm thinking I might get her one for winter as she doesn't like the restriction of the bags anymore, but they have sleeves and I'm not sure about the whole overheating thing.
Hope everyone is having a relaxed weekend. :hello:

Thanks Sacha, can you believe it 8 Months old!!
