Ok BBL - off to hunt for a present for a baby shower. Hope everyone is well xx
:happybirthday:HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUCAS - have a great day!!!
Thanks Sacha, it is VERY scary all these things that people think and decide to tell you and you worry!! But I am glad that we are pretty safe here but will some more investigatin.
I am with you on the tantrums!! Its like she decided to play up now she has turned 1!!! She cracked it again when I tried to give her the bottle today but I put that down to her teeth. But when I took my hairbrush off her this morning she craked it, and I told her off for grabbing the cat and she just screamed and crawled away then turned and looked at me and cried again!!! What fun times we all have ahead!!!
:cheer::cheer:

And Happy Birthing Day to the Mums!!
Hope you all had/have a great day.
Well it looks like today is the morning for our babies playing up! I've just had to deal with a sooky Avaleigh for the past 2 hours. The poor thing is putting up with everything these days - eye drops for the conjuctivitis, wiping of the runny nose and now a really flemmy cough. Poor thing is not happy! She has been waking a lot during the night coughing and works herself up so much her breathing is really fast, so I have had to cuddle her until she calms down. Jason had to bring her in to bed this morning when I left for the gym and just stroke her head for her to stay calm. We've just had a fight with her cereal and bottle this morning.. both didnt go down well and now she is fast asleep in bed.
Avaleigh spent 3 days with her grandma and auntie this week and I have been told that she went really well. I am so pleased that we dont need to pay for day care! And Avaleigh has been coming home so tired from all the playing that I have had her in bed by 7pm. AND I got paid last night and have money - YAY!! Most went on bills but I am oging to buy myself a new handbag today and then the last of it will probably be put on the credit card.
Ok some personals...
Lis - Somethimes investigating things like that is a mistake!! I try not to read in to things too much, surely if there was such a risk like that the doctors would need to advise us of the possible risks but like Sacha said, I think we are pretty safe here..
Jessika - you seem to be having a prety bad run with the illnesses/sickness these days!! I hope that everything clears up and no one will be sick or have anything anymore
Jem - Oh no about Charlotte being so sick! Not a very good way to spend a birthday and I hope she is feeling better now.
Jan - YAY for the nights sleep!! Have you been getting more full night sleeps since then?
Sacha - Oh! Autie is illergic to peanut butter!! At least you know now and she can get tested for other things too. We tried peanut butter on Avaleigh a few months back and I was a bit worried but nothing happened to her, she loves the stuff now!!
Well better go.. today is cleaning day so I better attempt to do something cause it hasnt been done for a while cause of Avaleigh being sick..
WOW thanks everyone! You all got in here so early!! My little boy must have had a big year as he slept in until 8.45am this morning! He has never slept that late before, nothing like a big sleep in on your birthday!!
Well i have mothers group arriving in 10 min for a little party for lucas and then the bigger party tomorrow! Needless to say i probably wont pop in for a couple of days!
Jem - You poor thing! I hope Charlotte is doing ok!!
I cant believe all the hospital visits everyone seems to be having lately....very scary being a mummy!
Well cant believe my little boy is ONE!!
:dance:HAPPY BIRTHDAY LUCAS:dance:
:p:p:p
Hope you have a great day together Megan.:)
Quick update with Jack, the grafted skin has taken, yippee!!!! So if all continues to go well he should be dressing free by friday next week. So we should be down to just the splint and the pressure gloves once they get made. We were so happy when the took the dressings off, I must admit though, I thought I was going to vomit at a few stages of them cutting the excess grafted skin away and blotting the blood, I don't have a strong stomach...
Anyway, I'm sorry to hear that a lot of our babies are sick ATM, I have another 2 to add to the list, they both have colds and Jack and I have the loo virus too  Not fun.
I hope everyone has a great weekend, I'm sure it's filled with lots of parties. Can't wait to hear about them all.
I'm going to try and upload some photos of our kids onto the BB gallery once, my normal computer is up and running again.
Take care all.
Just quickly, here is the article about vaccines Lis. It discusses a court case in America in which the government has conceded a vaccine caused autism.
https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums...ral-court.html
Just quickly popping in to say
:happybirthday:HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY TO YOU LUCAS!!! :hooray:
Hope you had a wonderful day :)
Will come back tomorrow for personals as im exhausted and off to bed very soon.
Goodnight ladies hope you all have a great weekend.
Hi ladies
*scuffs shoes bashfully* Is anyone welcome to join? My DS Elliott turns 1 on 17 July, same as Tom I think? I've been a forum lurker for a while, not just on BB but EB, M&B etc and really like the community style that BB has. Now that Elliott's turning 1 (OMG), I'd really like to jump into a group if that's ok?
This is more nerve-wracking than starting at a new school!!
Um, a bit about myself & my little family:
My name is Ami, and I'm 25. I've been with my DH Tim since I was 18 and he was 21, and we were married in October 2006. While on our honeymoon we discovered I was pregnant, due on 5 July 2007. On 17 July 2007 I still hadn't delivered and was induced and gave birth to my DS Elliott Trevor, weighing in at a very healthy 10lb 14oz. At this stage I should probably tell you that I'm very proud of the fact that I only had gas, and more than a couple of stitches! Elliott's been a champion breastfeeder, and is still on 3 BF's a day. For the first six months of his life he was a nightmare to get to sleep and eventually we went to Tresillian where we got some help getting him into a routine. He's a pretty good sleeper now, sleeping through from about 7pm - 7am, give or take. He has one sleep a day for about 2 hours after lunch. Not sure what else is relevant... But would really appreciate feedback or just a hi!
Looking forward to "meeting" you, if you'll have me!
HELLO and Welcome to the thread Ami!! We love newbies so welcome aboard!!! I'll give a proper intro about myself tomorrow cause right now I am off to bed, but just wanted to say HI!! :)
Hi Ami & Elliott, and a big welcome to this group:hug: You will love being apart of it. So very helpful in many ways. First of all I just wanted to say congrats on Elliott and his arrival OOOUUUCCCCHHHH!!! You must have been born to birth babies, lol. What a great job you did baking him;) Glad to hear he is great bub. I have family that live in Camden, it's a lovely area. Anyway I hope you stick around, I'm sure the other girls would agree the more the merrier.
Jess, Hows the bump growing hunny? Any pics to show us yet? PLEASE..............;)
V, How is work going? Is Avaleigh any better yet?
Us, well:doh: Not fun times ATM. I've been us since 5am with Charlize vomitting all through her bed, then ours, stupid me for doing that one though:wall: I'm just hoping it was her cough that caused her to vomit and it's not another different bug. Jack's loo virus has eased up, but mine is still going strong,. Anyway Jack is still asleep, which is good, as his sleeping has been terrible lately. And I mean terrible. The doctors and OT's at the hospital have told me to try him on some pherganunk (sp?) to help him with his night terrors. And last night he only woke once at 4am. So a big improvement. So will probably continue for a few days then take him off it and see if it has done the trick. His next appointment at the hosptial is on Mon for dressing change, so will see how he is then.
Anyway must go, BBL.
Hi Ami and Elliott welcome to the July mummies group. You will love it here, everyone is so helpful.
Mel- Hope you and your family are feeling better soon.
V- How is Avaleigh now, is she feeling any better?
Jem-Hope Charlotte is feeling better now too.
Wow must be the time of year for sick bubbas
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.
A BIG belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to LUCAS! Hip Hip Hooray, and woo hoo for the big sleep in! Hope you had a really special day.
And a big Hi to Ami & Elliott - welcome to our group. Your little man is very gorgeous, it must be the thing for July babies:)
And I hear you on the tantrums!! Liam goes mental if he sees a remote and then isn't allowed to play with it (cos he chews it mostly), or my mobile. Or if Pat or I go into our middle room & don't take him - he virtually throws himself on the floor. Which is kind of funny, but not. And the hitting - like where does this come from, it's not like he's sees this on a regular basis to copy from.
Anyway, he's awake, so I'll have to come back later for better personals - so much to catch up on when you're not on here for a day or so
Hi Everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying their weekends. I need to make the most of my weekends now that every day is not a weekend! :)
Mel - Awww at your sick bubbas. I hope that they get better soon! Avaleigh threw up all over me the other day with one of her coughing fits after she had just had a heap of milk! Work is going OK, it was a bit boring on Thursday because the full time lady didnt want to give me anything to do, seems to look like she wants to keep all her tasks to herself! I mentioned this to the other part timer and she said she wants to change that and give us all proper roles so i think we are going to talk to our boss soon.
And Avaleigh is still sick. Just left with a horrible cough and a bit of a runny nose. I am so upset I cant do anything for the cough. We were up at midnight and 4am with coughing fits but then slept in until 8am. I hope the cough goes away soon cause its making her one cranky bubba!! All that I had yesterday was cries cries cries - was driving me insane! Jason looked after her when he finished work so I had a bit of a break, but still heard the cries!
I thought that it would be nice for us to all introduce ourselves so Ami gets up to speed on the group?? I'll go first..
My names Veronica and I am 23. My husband is Jason and he is 27 and we just got married last December. My pregnancy went pretty well except for about 20kg of weight gain and high blood pressure towards the end! Avaleigh was induced 2 days early cause of my high blood pressure - I had a 6 hour labour, epidural and stitches. Avaleigh weighed 7lbs11oz (I think!). Avaleigh is a breastfeeder too but since starting work 2 weeks ago we are down to 2 breastfeeds and the rest are cow's milk. She is a pretty good baby - we have 6 teeth now, the last 4 came out all at the one time! At the moment she is sick so not a happy chappy..
well right on cue - she's crying!! gotta go
That's a nice idea V. It's a great time of year to do reminiscing anyway... LOL
Hi Ami and Elliot :hello:
I'm Sacha (obviously LOL) I'm ...(gulp) 35, my husband Dan is 36 and we've known each other since I was 10 but didn't get together until 3 (or 4? Still got pregnant brain) years ago. Our DD is Autumn, born 10 days overdue by EC when an induction did nothing but give me contractions for 24hrs. She was 10lb 2oz and I'm kinda glad I didn't have to squeeze her out! LOL  for you for doing the hard yards with Elliot! Dan works in remote areas so for two weeks of each month, I am single mum - there are others in here in the same situation too. Umm, what else? Oh Autie was BF and is just about weaned now. We have had some amazing progress with bad sleep problems, but still have our ups and downs (literally hahahaha) Hope you enjoy being part of our group. Look forward to getting to know you better.
Hey V, I heard once that baby vicks put on the soles of feet with socks on at night can really help a cough. I don't know anyone who's actually tried it though, so if you decide to give it a go, I'd love to know if it works.
Oh Mel that is so sad that Jack is having night terrors. They are awful. Hope he is soon back to his normal self...Charlize too. Autie did the mass vomit thing as soon as I put her in bed last night too! Two pillows, two blankets, the sheets, the airwrap, the wall, her cuddlie, herself, the change table...ick - so glad I had the mattress protector on. So lights on, baby changed, bed stripped and remade, new bottle made and start the bedtime thing all over again. I think she is still a little sensitive from the allergic reaction. Not a great night in general really. Enough whining... Hope you feel better soon too, I can only imagine what it's like to be a mum while sick yourself. (touch wood)
Hi everyone else! Hope you all are having fun-filled weekends!
Hi all
welcome Ami and Eliiott. Great to have you join us - the more the merrier. I am Jemima and I am mum to Oliver nearly 4yrs, Jesse just turned 2 and charlotte who has obviously just turned one. I had all three naturally without drugs and will definitely not be having any more children - especially considering as charlotte was unplanned - but we wouldnt change things at all now!! I am still bf charlotte and want to keep doing that for awhile yet. I am back at work part time (I needed to go back for my own sanity and i am expressing while i am at work) and I am loving it - the work that is not the expressing LOL! Actually I should clarify that maybe it isnt really the work i am loving although it is quite good but it is more the quiet coffees and shopping at lunch time and going to the toilet alone! BTW I love the name Elliott.
V and Sacha - I have tried the vicks on the feet with socks and I do it every time I think I am getting a cold and i swear by it - it also makes your feet really soft!! Oh and btw I had jut bought a vapouriser for charlottes room and it is magical - I have slept in there with her a couple of nights and it gives off a lovely smell and makes the room all warm and cosy and I think has helped charlotte with her coughing.
mel - poor Jack. Glad the phenergan is helping tho. Oh and I hope Charlize has gotten over her bug. As we have said many a time sicks kids are just awful. Big hugs!!
Sacha - I am hearing you on the big gulp about being 35. I turn 35 in a couple of months and the idea of only being 5 years off forty in just frightening - bring on the botox LOL!!
Jan - LOL at Liams tantrums - you can say that when they are one cause it is the tantrums when they are two that are the real doozies I reckon - you should see some of Jesses WOWl!! These little people sure do have a mind of their own!
Megan how did the party go. Did the birthday boy get spoilt?
Thanks everyone for the well wishes for charlotte. She is improving but stil isnt great - it will just take a bit of time I think.
Hello to everyone else.
Not much else new here. Just trying to get thse sick kids well again! But I guess it is winter.
have a great weekend.
take care
Jem
Thanks for the warm welcome girls!
We had no clue that Elliott was going to be so big - I'm not petite myself, and my father's family are infamous for having big kids but E was certainly the biggest! My MW said I'm not allowed to cook them for that long again... I said damn right!!
Wow there seems to be a few bugs going around at the moment, poor everyone! I always find that the vaporiser in E's room works wonders and it does smell so good! It's really cold here in Camden and anything that gives off a little bit of warmth is always welcome.
So is anyone pregnant at the moment? I'm trying to make the ultimate decision as to whether we'll have another one (or two!). I really like the idea of a bigger family but have substantial financial constraints. What are your thoughts on age gaps etc? I hope I'm not bringing up anything previously discussed! just point me in the right direction if I am.
Great idea V.
Ami, I'm Mel, 27. I'm married with 2 beautiful babies, Charlize who just turned 2 and Jack who just turned 1, obvioulsy. I'm still BF him, but I'm hoping to cut down 1 feed a day now, if I could get him to take milk, but he is not keen on the idea. I had 2 natural births, Jacks being on 3 hours long, so if there was a next one, I might just be prepared for a homebirth, lol. Up until 3 weeks ago, he has been doing great. Unfortunately he decided to explore the BBQ, and got 3rd degree full thickness burns to his right palm and fingers, so we are now in the middle of trying to fix him up. The burns got grafted last week and they have taken so good news.
No more kids here for us, well for now anyhow, but never say never. DH turns 40 next Feb, so he isn't keen for more, but maybe just maybe I'm keen once these 2 go off to school, but I'm sure by then, I'll be over the idea.
Jem, so glad that Charlotte is starting to improve. It's so hard sometimes isn't when they are all sick. I swear I feel like disappearing sometimes, maybe to Melbourne ;) he he he Oh Jesse and Charlize sound like they could out do each other with the tantrums, OMG she has some pearlers too, lol
This is intersting talk about the Vicks, I must try it, thanks!!
Sacha, I hope you don't take this the wrong way, but your night made me laugh, thank you. Poor you, having to re dress the whole room. BTW, how does Autumn go sleeping on the pillows? I tried the other night with Jack, and he ended up just pushing it into the corner, so I pulled it out. He is the same with sheets and blankets.
V, glad to hear work is going well. I used to have the same problem with one of the development chefs at work, I don't know why I never spoke up about it and but him in the deep end, I hated the cocck, I'm glad your going to speak up about it.
Anyway all, I'm about to have a nice glass of red, cheers to those of you who want to join me.
Oh count me in for the cheers mel - CHEERS!!
Oh yes and melbourne is looking better and better hehehe!!
Hmm this vicks stuff sounds interesting. I must buy some next time I am at the shops!
Ami - we have 1 person pregnant at the moment or maybe 2?? and there are a couple that are trying! When first having Avaleigh I was dead set on trying for # 2 in November but with the way money is going at the moment that is a big NO. There are a few things we need to do before bub # 2, with the major one being moving in to a bigger house!
I decided to not give Avaleigh an afternoon sleep today so she would be asleep by 7pm and it worked! She did wake up 30mins ago but just wanted her dummy so I am enjoying the peace and quiet.
Well better go. Jason is out at the moment and I have just had some ice cream so better hide the evidence cause I told him not to let me eat any crap cause I am feeling real fat these days!
Evening Ladys
Hope you and your bubbas are having a great weekend...
Welcome Ami and Elliot You will love it in here the girls are great... I only joined the group a few months ago and glad i joined....
My name is Sarah im 27 and DP is Chris and he is 31 i have a 8yr old daughter Chloe, Chris has a 4yr son Ryan and together we have Bayleigh who is 1... I was a single mum for 5 years to chloe and chris n i have been together for nearly 3 years and havent looked back.... My pregnancy with bayleigh was ok apart from the really bad heart burn i was due the 15th but that day came n went, was to be induced on the 24th (tuesday morning at 730am ) but bayleigh decided he wanted to do it on his own labour started at 1130pm on the 23rd and he was born at 3:55am on the 24th i only used the gas becoz they were telling me not to push(for an hour) when i had really bad urge to push (long story) Bayleigh was born with the cord around his neck 3 times and wasnt breathing when he came out so DP didnt get to cut the cord as they had to get him breathing i finally got cuddles about 2 mins after he was born.. He weighed in at 8Ib 41/2oz and i didnt have to have stitches (thank god)We breastfeed for 17 weeks but i was stressed and my milk dryed up...Bayleigh has been a great baby APART from the waking every hour from birth till about 3 months ago where we got him sleeping most of the night but then he got sick so therfor was waking 3-4 times a night till about 2 weeks ago and he has FINALLY started sleeping 12 hours sometime even more :) so im in heaven... he only has 2 teeth.. he started walking at 10 months or just after lol cant remeber seems ages ago :(
well dats all im gunna write hope i haven't bored you lol
Im hearing everyone about the tanties... Arent they great...
Bayleigh can throw some good ones when he wants... i just laugh at him and he ends up laughing so he forgets wat hes throwing a tantie for LOL (sometimes it doesnt work)
Ill be back tomorrow for personals
We have DstepS tonight and the poor thing has this awfull cough on him and is losing his voice and is very very upset so i better go n take over from chris as he will be getting upset also which will make DSS even worse (seeing daddy cry) Hope you all have a great weekend
Sarah
Mel, Autie LOVES her pillows. She has two adult ones at either end plus a little one mum made her. She has really just always loved anything she can lie on and tuck under her tummy so I didn't have to work on getting her to like them at all. When she slept with me she was always nudging me off mine! She doesn't like blankets over her but she scrunches them up to lie on too, so that's why they're in the cot. She moves around so much that any way she ends up there's something to lie on LOL BTW, I'd join you with the red, but since being pregnant, any alcohol I have makes me flushed and irritable straight away  We get a dozen Hunter Valley wines delivered about five times a year but now Dan has them all to himself :(
Ami, our plan is to have another (if we can, Autie took a while) but I want to wait until she will be at least 2 1/2 or so when it's born. I know I don't have time on my side really, but I want her to be able to understand a little and also for me to just concentrate on her while she's so young. It's challenging trying to decide isn't it?
LOL Jem, I think if I lived a healthier lifestyle I wouldn't need the Botox! Thanks for the Vicks recommendation. I've been wondering for ages if it works - good to know.
About the vaporizers, does anyone worry that it will make things mouldy being humid all the time? Autie's room only has one narrow window.
Well, Autie is still a bit strange - tired all the time, clingy, whingey, off her food. Not sure if it's left over from the peanut butter incident or a growth spurt or teeth or what. Plus, to top it all off, we have fleas! I minded mum's dog a couple of weeks ago and she was never even in the house - so frustrating! Has anyone used flea bombs with a crawling baby? Not sure if I want to risk it.
Gotta go get Whingey.
Ami, Im Emma, 25. My DP Kev is 27. We have a beautiful daughter named Tayah who was born on the 25th of July. I had a great pregnancy up until the last 2 weeks when my blood pressure rose sky high, I ended up in hospital 8 days before my due date and was induced 6 days before my due date. I was in labour for 10 hours and had an epidural and stitches. Tayah weighed 7lb 8oz. We were in hospital for a week after she was born because of bad jaundice and she needed to be on a light bed. The jaundice was really bad because she wouldnt feed and got dehydrated, the midwives kept persisting with me trying to breastfeed her only to realise 3 days later that she couldnt because of a tongue and lip tie (getting frustrated just thinking about it), and so they finally allowed me to express feed her. We never got the breastfeeding down pat coz of the tongue/lip tie so I expressed milk for her every feed for the first 2 months, it was really hard and I basically couldnt leave the house because every 3 hours I was on the pump machine for about half an hour or longer. So after 2 months of been trapped in my own home I realised I wasnt enjoying being a mother because of the expressing situation and decided to put her onto formula. I havnt looked back since. As for the sleeping I couldnt ask for any better, she has slept everynight right through since she was 3 weeks old (apart from when she has had a cold) so im very lucky in that sense.
As for bub #2 we definetly will be waiting until at least June next year, I finish my uni course then which means we will be way better off financially, and should hopefuuly have built on our land by then too.
V- Hope Avaleigh's cough gets better soon. You have me craving ice cream now too argh I hate diets
Jem- Glad to hear Charlotte is feeling a bit better.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend
Hi,
Just a quicky to say hi, and happy birthday to all this month.
I would love to come in and keep up with you all, but I just can't. So you probably see me around less and less and less. Unless Xavier starts sleeping better.
I hope all these first birthday's are fantastic!!!
Hey Bec!
Hi everyone.
Welcome Ami!
I can only introduce myself as the annoying one.
I have a son, Lachlan who was born July 28th.
He's a walking, talking, eating machine.
Enjoy your stay here.
Just thought I'd pop in before I got forgotten about;)
lol
xxoo
Oh Nicky - ppffff! LOL No-one here is annoying...now if you go lurking on some other months, that's a different story... (don't ask me why I do, I think it's just boredom sometimes - or housework avoidance)
Hello all
and hello Bec - havent heard from you for a while but I wanted to give you a cyber hug cause thngs must be a bit tough with Xavier and his sleeping. I almost got a bit teary when I read your post - gee maybe I am hormonal - I guess because we had long term sleep issues with Jesse and it wasnt that long before Charlotte was born that we got them sorted out so I guess what I am trying to say is that I know what you are going through and there is an end to it. In the end I dont think it was anything we tried (and boy we tried everything) but I think he sorted them out himslef iykwim. It is darn hard though isnt it especially when you have to work. Take care
Hello everyone else. Not much new to report. I have to go and work out what I am wearing to work tomorrow - oh the decisions we have to make.
Just in case anyone is interested - NOT - I feel sick from eatng an entire packet of marshmellows. I just couldnt stop. No self control!!
Take care
Jem
Hi all,
Hello Ami - welcome! My name is Raelene and I am 32 and my DF is 28. I have 2 sons, Lexxen is 9 and Oliver turned 1 on the 9th. I have had two natural, drug free labours, DS1 was born 8 weeks early due to pre-eclampsia so DS2 was induced at 37 weeks as my BP started to rise so they didn't want to take any chances. He was 6 lb 9. Just the two boys for me, I won't be going back for anymore. Oliver is breastfed and has fed like a trooper from day one! Looking forward to getting to know you and Elliot - great name btw!
Sacha - :cryinglaugh: at you lurking on other months!! I have done this once or twice lol!! I don't like vaporisers, instead I use the plug in ones, forget the name though!
Hi Bec!! Hope you are well babe and Xavier starts sleeping a bit better for you.
As for us, Oliver is teething again. He has the telltale signs of the bright red cheek, runny nose and lots of poos!! ;) He is now standing for longer periods on his own and and getting very fast while walking around with his push walker. Have you all seen that Trading Post ad where that little boy is always pushing things so the parents buy him a swing set? LMAO that is my son!! He pushes everything, the dining chairs - which are so heavy! - the washing basket, DF's eski that he takes to work and just about anything that gets in his way. It is very cute and makes us laugh hehe. I think someone asked about tantrums? We have had some whoppers, especially over my mobile phone. He loves to hold it to his ear and say - "ho - ho" - but then he got into the other day and somehow deleted half my contacts and changed some of my settings!! He is now waving goodbye and loves to give LOTS of kisses, those great big opened mouthed ones. I wish this time would never end.
Well that's it for me, I have my sister staying for a week before she moves overseas so I better go and spend time!
Hello to everyone else.
Raels xo
Jess - any luck with Ethan's thrush yet? And have his eye teeth put in their appearance yet? These days I have only glowing memories of being pg, but then you mention achy hips & I go " oh yeah...." Anyway, cos there's only one way to get rid of the problem, and you've got quite a few months before that happens ;)
Tracey - it was lovely to hear from you. It's great to hear that you're finally getting on top of Zyon's stomach problems. He sounds like Liam with the number of feeds that he's having each day. Sometimes I think that I'll be feeding Liam till he's 15...
Lis - as far as I know, it's the MMR injection that gets the bad wrap re autism links, but like Sacha said it appears to be mercury that caused the problems, and that's not used in vaccines any more. One of my friends spoke to her GP about it and I think has decided to delay the MMR until her DS is 2, which is the age where autism becomes apparent I think (don't know that much about it). And I'm with you on the snoring sounds. DP snores = elbow in the back, DS snores = smiling at the cuteness.
Mel - how are your sick babies? Poor little Jack with his night terrors, it's awfully hard not being able to protect them from their dreaming imaginations. Hopefully he'll get through this patch soon. And hopefully you'll see some great improvement when his dressing gets changed tomorrow:goodluck2:
V - isn't it frustrating when you've got a baby that's just not their normal happy self, and when they spend the day being clingy & whingy. It's very tiring. Have you got around to trying the Vicks on the feet trick yet? And did you succumb to buying the handbag??
Sacha - bummer about the fleas, they're nasty little critters. Don't know about bombs, although I'd probably hold off unless desperate, but if I was desperate then I'd move out of the house if I could for a couple of days, but then I am a little on the neurotic side of these things. And how's Autie going - is she still feeling miserable, poor little thing? Oh - and cute picture of her, love the headscarf!
Sarah - that's great that Bayleigh has started giving you 12 hour sleeps. and poor little Ryan losing his voice...so many sick kids around here at the moment, I'm looking forward to winter being over.
Rebecca - lovely to hear from you, I hope that Xavier does start sleeping better for you, we miss you!!
Yeah right Nicky - like we're going to forget you! Is all your wedding stuff finalised now? It must be getting so exciting to have it getting closer & closer.
I've loved reading everyone's stories, it's lovely to reminisce. Hard to believe that this time last year some of us were brand new Mums, and some of us were still Mum's in waiting. The things we have all learnt in the last 12 months!
Anyway, my story is that I'm obviously the grandmother of the group, at the age of (clears throat, cos I rarely ever admit this)..well, 38. Which when you write it looks really old, but certainly doesn't feel like it. It took me a really long time, and a lot of frog kissing before I met my partner, which was a bit over 3 years ago, but I'm so glad I waited for the right one. We got engaged a couple of months ago, but no wedding date set yet. After text-book easy pg, I ended up with an emergency CS, cos after 16 or so hours of contractions and no progress, they broke my waters but there was meconium in them, and so they gave me the epi in preparation for putting in the drip to induce, but then DS's heart rate when haywire, so didn't get any induction, it was straight to theatre. DF doesn't know this yet, but we'll be trying for No 2 just as soon as my AF puts in a reappearance, but as I'm still feeding 4-5 times a day, she's still absent :wall:. I'm too old to mess around with age differences, I'll take whatever I can get when I get it. Plus I'm finding myself to be super super clucky. I think that this is the only time I'd ever complain about not getting AF ;)
Did anyone see the guy that was doing the rounds on the morning TV shows & Current affair type shows talking about teaching babies to read from about 2 months? I read to Liam every day, usually 5 or 6 books, and he takes himself into his room periodically to flick through pages himself, but I'm now slightly paranoid that I'm not doing enough for him? Which on a rational level I know I am, but you know how you go through those moments.
Oh, and we had our first free standing moment tonight . Liam was watching me run his bath and normally he just leans against the bath whilst sorting through the bath toys, but tonight he just kind of let go for a few seconds, then when finished, just calmly reached for the side of the bath again. Only did it once, so it could be a bit of a fluke, but I was so thrilled to be there to see it.
Jem - LOL at the marshmellows. If it makes you feel any better, or at least not alone, I will confess that for dinner tonight I ate the leftover white chocolate icing from the MG birthday cake that I made. I wasn't hungry for normal food cos had a big lunch, but the icing leftovers were just there..staring at me...not a huge amount of it, but still, hardly nutritional. At least I can clean the dish it was in though.
Evening Ladies!!
I cant breathe - its soooo annoying!! My nose has fully blocked up and I have a cough that I just want get rid of, must be how Avaleigh has felt for the past few days now.
I am really enjoying everyone saying their introductions!! Its put a smile on my face knowing that we have all spent the past year together, its has been such a wonderful time and I consider you all such good friends!! Wouldnt it be great if we could all catch up and meet each other. LOL Imagine all the babies in one room!!!!!
Jan - LOL @ eating the white chocolate icing!!! That is soooo something that I would do. I love liking the bowl after making a cake. Oh WOW at TTC # 2 when AF shows up - how exciting!!! And how lucky are you for not having AF yet! I got AF after 2 months even tho I was feeding 8 times a day..
Raels - how cute that Olivier is pushing everything around. Its amazing that they can push something so heavy sometimes..
Oh Private Practise is on!!!
Bec - Hello!! I hope everything is OK and that your sleep issue sort themselves out.. it mustnt be very fun :( Avaleigh is waking now because of a cold/cough and its not fun..
Emma - just a question about your high blood pressure - do you really think you had high blood pressure?? I had the same as you, I just fine until about 4 weeks before when the hospital stressed me out about an unknown rash so my BP went sky high, so after that it was constant BP checks 2 times a week and every time I went to the hospital I was stressed out that it would be high again.. So really, I think the hospital made me have high blood pressure!
Sacha - argh @ the fleas!! I just had the treat the dogs for fleas cause they have been attacking us, well me mostly, and they are fine but I am still getting bitten so I think there are still some in the house. We cant use the flea bomb cause of our salt water fish tanks so I just gotta hope they die soon..
I never got round to buying the baby vicks today but will do so tomorrow - Avaleigh's coughing isnt too bad, mine is bad now! Well going to go sit down and watch private practise and sniff the vicks tub LOL :)
V- Yeah sometimes I wonder about that...I was going in every 2 days for checks aswel and like you I was stressing about it being high and worrying about whether bub was OK. Im not sure why it was initially high but I have no doubt that it stayed high becuse of the stress and worry. The strange thing is that for the first week they just monitored it, the second week they put me on meds, at the end of the second week it was still high so they incresed my meds and told me to go home, pack my bags and come back on the 23rd to be induced. When I came back on the 23rd the birth suites were full for 2 days so I wasnt induced until the 25th, but from the 23rd to the 25th my blood pressure was fine, back to normal, so I still wonder why they didnt just let me go home and wait for her to come naturally. As it was my first bub I just went with the flow but next time I would be pushing to go home and avoid the induction.
Im a private practice fan too and im loving lipstick jungle also, Sunday nights are great
Hope u feel better soon
Hi girls! Hope everyone is well! Its been busy, busy around here - this first birthday preparation takes a lot of time. What will it be like when they turn 21...
Welcome Ami and Elliott! I must say you have picked on of the best days in July to be having a birthday! I am Emma and I am 30. I have been with my DH for 11 years - he is a builder and I work one day a week in a bookshop which I adore. I am a bit like Jem in that it is really just a nice excuse to have lunch in peace and go to the toilet without someone banging on the door! Tom is one the same day as Elliott and he is a awesome baby. Very happy, loves to dance, sleeps very well now. He was born with reflux so that was a bit of a hard time at the start but it seems to be going away now finally, but it has been well controlled with medications etc. On the issue of having more kids - I am very undecided. I had a horrible pregnancy - 24 hour morning sickness from 4 wks pregnant until about 6-7 months, which returned towards the end. I was in hospital a few times, had hideous heartburn, and then got shingles 10 days before I had Tom (which worked out well because I got a private room in hospital ). Tom was breech and after unsuccessful (and painful) attempts to turn him, was delivered by a planned c-section. That all sounds very negative doesn't it! I actually loved my birth and even now the horror of being pregnant is fading away, and I am starting to forget the bad stuff and only remember the good times when I felt great and people told I looked beautiful and my hair was the thickest and glossiest it had ever been! DH doesn't want Tom to be an only child, but also he is like me that we feel so blessed to have him that if he did turn out to be an only, it would be the worst thing. Maybe thinking if we do go again, we would wait until T was nearly kinder age so if I did have a bad pg again, he would be a little older and it might be a little easier on him. Not overly worried about the age gap as my younger sister is 10 years younger than me and she is my best friend. Anyway - welcome to the group! The girls are fantastic and so so so helpful!
Well this week is just going to be crazy! We are having 2 parties for Tom. One on Thursday night with DH's family as they live locally and then one on Sunday with my family and a couple of friends. Most of my family live a couple of hours away so we wanted them to be able to spend time with T without too many other people around. I am very un-organised though. Have to get my butt into gear. (Prehaps I shouldn't be on BellyBelly. Hmm..). On Thursday afternoon Tom and I are going to a mums and baby pilates class so that should be interesting. I am so unfit! Apart from walking and bending over to pick up 18,000 toys a day - I do no exercise!
There is so many personals to do but also a Mount Everest sized pile of ironing calling my name, so I'll just do random bits and pieces.
Firstly V - I swear by Vicks on feet! It honestly works. And might be a little naughty, but I don't worry about the baby Vicks either, just use the regular stuff on T. Hope you are feeling a little better.
Tantrums.. God we have the king here at the moment. Tom is obsessed with using things as a whacking stick - whether it is his cricket bat, a wooden spoon, - everything has to be whacked by him. He was having a go at the wall with his little cricket bat so after being told no many times, DH confiscated it.. Oh my God - it was like the world was ending. Our neighbours constantly say they never hear him - they would of that night!
He is another that is obsessed with phones - everything is turned into a phone. The other night he was in the bath with a Rexona bottle he had swiped off the bench, having a conversation. He was obviously talking to a telemarketer in India, because it started off as "Allo. Eh eh eh. Allo. Eh eh" then he started screaming 'down the line' in his own baby language. Quite funny. The weird thing is if you put him on the real phone with someone actually on the other end, he won't have a bar of it! Strange boy.
We are having a terrible time with finger food at the moment. After a really good start, now anything that is not the texture of a biscuit or bread, gets turfed over the side of the high chair. Any fruit goes because it is slimy, meat must feel weird, it goes over. At this rate I will be spoon feeding him until he is 80..
Aw.. he is awake. I will try to come back later for more personals. I really hope everyone is well and big  to you all!
Oh my gosh...so busy in here! Just popped in for a quick read, but there is so much i will have to come back as i'm about to take Lucas to doctor!!
 Oh Em, I love your sense of humour! Tom with his telemarketing calls and turfing! Hope you find something to his liking soon - don't you hate cleaning the floor a million times a day?
Emma, I don't think you're the only one thinking they would be a bit more assertive with the doctors the next time round. There are definitely things I'd have done over if I could - maybe just little things, but annoying little regrets nonetheless.
V, hope you're breathing clears up :(
Jan, mmm...icing on toast....mmmm. I've done it and you non-believers don't know what you're missing! LOL Thanks for your kind words about her photo. She is a lot more chipper today, and eating better so hopefully the sleeping is next to right itself... for Liam's standing moment! You'll probably catch him at it all the time now. Autie loves to watch me run the bath too, if I take her nappy off first, she pees all over the floor  As for the reading, I think instilling a love of books is the best way to make a reader - not how fast they learn to do it. Most accelerated learners have become level with their peers by the age of 5 anyway so I'd say you're doing all the right things. Exposure to lots of books, repetition of favourites and lovely one on one time - what could be better encouragement to read?! (I'm a bit passionate about encouraging reading LOL)
Raels, arent' those sloppy kisses just the best? LOL at Oliver the removalist! Sorry to hear about your mobile phone tragedy ;)
Hey Jem, was it the really good marshmallows with four different flavours? Because I know how hard they are to turn your back on, so don't feel bad!
I should be cleaning, so smacks for me and see you all later.
Raels - LOL at Oliver on the phone. Liam shares his obsession, although he doesn't talk to it, he just eats it. Same with remote controls, plays with the buttons for a while, then into the mouth it goes...
Hope you enjoy your week with your sister.
Em - I hear you with the fussy finger food eating. Liam will only feed himself if I put it in front of him and then leave the room. Otherwise, his hands are too precious to actually touch food, it must be broken into appropriate sized pieces and placed in his mouth by his mother, as if he was some kind of royal being.
Sacha - isn't it amazing how they know their nappy is off. I strip Liam down so he gets some nudie time before his bath, and he regularly uses the side of the bath as his own private urinal, I think it's maybe the shock of cold tiles & bottom freedom... But I kind of cope with this better than knowing when he's weed actually in the bath, that grosses me out more, even though I know it's something that all kids do. Although this is still not as bad as poo in the bath.
haha I've lurked on many forums... well not lurked, that makes me sound creepy... how about... I've been researching on many forums and a lot of them are annoying, or get into these massive b!tchfights, it's incredible. It's like people forgo any sort of common respect or manners when they get on forums, it's awful. I can see it's not like that here though!
Phew I'm glad I'm not the only one with a whingey baby, E just carries on like a real pork chop all the time at the moment and it's making me crazy! I've just had to go into him twice from 7pm (now 8pm) and he's had two cups of water, I couldn't believe it. He was just gulping it down and did a massive burp afterwards. This is after I BF'd him before he went to bed. I'll have to keep an eye on his water intake, two cups is a lot isn't it?
It is really hard to make the decision to have another, there's so many different things to consider. I'm lucky that my best friend has two young children, so at the moment I don't feel too much pressure to give Elliott a sibling. *deep breath* DH & I have just had to declare bankruptcy (I obviously don't tell that many people) so our decision now is to reconsider where we're at at the end of the bankruptcy term. So three years at least, which seems FOREVER. I'd really like to have my children and get that done so that I can go back to work sooner rather than later, and would LOVE a large family but just feel that it'd be irresponsible to have another one while we're bankrupt. Argh but they're pretty cheap when they're really little... this is what keeps me up at night. Not financial, but baby baby baby. We're just about to move into a two bedroom house so hopefully that'll keep the temptation away.
Hello ladys

OH I have missed so much in only 4 days!!!
Welcome to Ami and Elliott, hope you enjoy your stay with us!!! My name is Alisa, my daughter is Olivia and she just turned 1 last Monday and we had a BIG party :) Very good pregnancy, terrible birth with a 3rd degree tear NEVER having a natural birth again. But Olivia is a dream baby (well that remains to be seen...stay tuned to below), she slept through the night from very early....she must get that from DH. DH and I have be together for 8 years...I think, from DEC 99 till now, married Jan 06.
Ok, trying to keep up sorry if I pass anything:
Sacha - I have been wanting to get Livvie a pillow but a bit worried, the health nurse said not to put anything big in her cot, but they can get thigns off their heads now so I might try it during the day.
Ami - I am the same as Sacha - we are going to wait for another year to start trying again. I want Olivia to be old enough to do a few thigns for herself and plus I need to make sure I can have a ceaser hehehe
Janno - that is interesting that your friend is delaying the injection, is anyone in here delaying it?? I haven't made the appt yet but I think I will for this week. Olivia is teething so I am just going to get double the pain tears :( I def understand thinking about not doing enough with Olivia. She does the same with her books, she will look at them herself and flick through the pages but when I go to read them she just wants to look at them herslef!
V- how are you feeling? Def use the Vicks for babies SO good!!
Well I am having trouble with Olivia and her milk. This is from a baby who couldn't get enough of her milk!!! Last Monday she refused the night bottle I don't know if the coincedence of chaing to 1-3 formula or not but Tues she was ok. The Fri she refused again ad I have't been able to get her back to driking it. Hav tried it in a sippy cup, have tried full milk in a sippy cup and still she cries and hits my hands. She is happy (apart from the teething) and sleeps well, funny thing is she drinks HEAPS more water!!! Its like a big turn around, I don't get it. MHN says that as long as she gets yougurt, cheese and milk in cereal it should be ok.
Anyway - has anyone else experieced this??
Also - is crumbed chicken etc ok to give them?
