Yay Mel on having another good night. I hope the good nights continue. How is Charlee going? Do you look at her now and think she looks so big - I guess when you compare them to a newborn they are big but in reality they are still such little people. I look at Jesse and he looks so grown up (which is sad as he is only 14 1/2 months old).
Veronica - Great news that you had a better night with Avaleigh. I hope you start to have lots of good nights from now on!! We did the co sleeping thing last night as well which was interesting - babies are such noisy creatures.
Roudysmum - hugs to you. Like Mel - I have found that bouncing on an exercise ball helps with settling and working any wind out - also keeps me moving and boy do I need some help losing this pregnancy fat - although all of the chocolate I am eating probably isnt helping. I hope you get some answers from the other thread you posted.
Me - we didnt have a great night - Charlotte was quite unsettled from about 1am so I had her in bed with me but I only felt like I dozed from then on and she was soooooo noisy. I think she just needs to do a really big poop - she hasnt done one since midday yesterday and is making all sorts of bum noises but nothing is coming out LOL!!! DH took Oliver and Jesse out this morning so I was able to have a rest and get a few things done. Poor Jesse is sick again -we think it is his ears AGAIN. We only just finished a course of antibiotics so looks like we might be back at the Doctors tomorrow. I feel so sorry for him as he is just miserable - thank goodness he is having grommits put in next week.
I had best run and chill out while all three are asleep - a rare moment.
take care everyone
Jem
-
Jem sorry to hear about last night, but I guess we all have our bad days/nights, and she has been so good so far. Hopefully it's a one off thing. What are grommits, BTW? I'm thinking about taking Charlee to the doc on Monday, she hasn't been herself for about a week now, just very whingy and sooky, no temps though. Don't know if it's still just her adjusting to having to share my attension. But I just want to know it's not nothing else that can be cured with antibiotics etc. as somedays she has me at my wits end with her whinging and crying. Charlee is now 14 months and she does feel huge now, somedays I sit back and look at her and can't believe how quickly time has flown since she was a newborn.
-
Fingers crossed the bad nights are a rarity - but you are right you get some good and some bad nights.
Grommits are a ventilation tube that is inserted into the middle ear (i think that is right). It is a minor procedure performed under general anasthetic and the grommits allow fluid to drain from the ear rather than sit in the ear and cause infections.
I hope Charlee starts to pick up soon - it is hard to see them when they are sick/feeling off colour and also hard to function hyourself when you still have to look after another child. Hugs to you.
-
Hi everyone
Veronica - I hear you on the co-sleeping thing. I slept with Diana last night and she slept for six hours straight! I hope that this is a new trend and that I didn't sleep through her request for a night feed (unlikely, as I was holding her).
Jemima - I love the picture of Charlotte. Very cute. I posted some new ones of Diana on her site too.
Well, the most exciting thing that happened to me this morning was that I managed to get Diana to poop and wee in the potty like a big girl :D (the things that excite us when we beomce parents - I always thought my friends were mad when they celebrated their children's toilet successes. Now I understand!)
-
Morning, I too have been up all night.... But I know Zy is only 4 days old & expect 6wks of crappy nights before any decent sleep starts, so have asked 2 friends that were gonna pop in today to not come, as Indah will nap later & I'll feed Zy & put him down & hopefully get a few Z's!!!
First day without DH at home & it's all going well!!!!
I need to add more pic's of Zy, but I'm just a tad tired!!!!
-
hey everyone
i currently have a baby girl sleeping in my arms - so cute!!
we had a good night last night. we managed to sleep about 3 hrs in between feeds and i feel a little more normal today. hopefully tonight will be better. Avaleigh is starting to be more alert during the day so hoping it means more sleep at night but she is only 1 week old so i am not expecting miracles!
zofia - yay on the success of diana pooing and weeing in her potty! i have to say, good on you for starting so early!!
-
Diana - congrats on the pooping and weeing success, it is funny what things excite us as parents. Just curious - where did you hear about toilet training now? I have never heard of this - see 3 children later and I'm still learning things :D
-
Kristy - I joined a local mothers group and one of the women there was potty training her 3 month old, so I decided to try it with Diana. Google "infant potty training" if you want more information.
-
Zofia - Diana is adorable. She looks so alert. Well done on the toilet training. I will be interested to hear how it goes.
Hi to everyone else. I hope you are all managing to get a bit of rest and relaxation - yeah right I hear you all say LOL!!!
Not much new to report here - I will BBL to do more personals.
Charlotte hasnt done a poop since midday on Saturday - is that normal? She seems a bit uncomfortable and is making lots of bum noises but nothing is coming out.
I had best run and watch the Big Brother final -tragic I know.
Take care
Jem
-
Hi ladies,
wow you can all talk up a treat in here! I don't think I will be able to catch up with everyone, so I will say a big hello to everyone and I am feeling for everyone that is having difficulties with sleeping.
Angus is still been great, I won't go into details, I don't want you to hate me! lol but thankfully for me, he is doing really well and as I have started back doing client appts and preparation today with a mum due in 4 weeks, I am counting my lucky stars.
I am buggered tonight though, and with Campbell playing up something shocking, I am struggling a bit with that more than anything.
Jem how are you finding the older 2? Campbell is just ssoooo naughty at the moment that I am at my wits end with him!
anyways, I hope you are all really well and that the bubs have some better nights for you all.
-
I think last night Zy was awake from 12 til 4am & he's been feeding like 2hourly since, my boobs are massive & he always has milk dripping outta his mouth, so I dont think he can be hungry, but he's just not settling for longer than 2 hours!
Oh well, it's not forever..
Indah is being really good too.... Isnt eating well, but oh well!??? It isnt the end of the world & wont be forever hey!!!
Gonna head out to grab a few groceries later Might wait til Mum's home & see if she wnats to come (that way she can keep an eye on Indah!)
-
hey everyone
hope everyone is enjoying their little ones
we had a good night last night!! I fed Avaleigh at 6.30pm (she woke as soon as i sat down for dinner but was quite happy in her bassinette) and then slept until 11.30pm and then fed every 3 hrs after that. she's in my arms at the moment and is so alert.
tracey - tell me bout the massive boobs!! im actually liking my new additions cause i am quite small. hehe
hey, what are you all dressing your bubs in at home?? i was just doing a singlet, bonds wondersuit and a wrap and then when she is in the bassinette she has two blankets. she always has cold hands so today i decided to put on an extra layer, so she has a singlet, bpnds wondersuit and another fleecy sort of body suit over and she's got a wrap. do you think this is ok or too much? dont want to overheat her or have her too cold...
i need to go to the shops today to get some supplies. might wait until jason comes home and we can have our first outing together
-
Hey Veronica, I don't know what the temp. is like over there. But maybe if her hands are cold you could just put on a pair of mittins, you know the ones to stop them from stratching themselves, they work well for us. Charlee and Jack always have them on at home when they sleep and they always have nice warm fingers:p Like you said you don't want her to over heat, especially with SIDS. Sounds like she is thriving well though, you must be doing a great job with her, well done.;)
Relle, Charlee has been a real little miss too lately. She is an angel at mums for most of the times when we go out, so I have just put it down to boredom, now that I can't spend as much time with her. SO I try to get out as much as possible, for both our sanities.
I can't believe how well Jack was last night and the last few nights as a matter. Last night he slept from 9pm to 2am, feed then back down by 3, then woke at 5:30am, I'm stoked. Had nearly 7 hours sleep haven't had that much sleep for a long long time. And he is smiling now too:D it's so cute have got a couple of pics of him to download just haven't had the chance. Will upload them onto the site when I can.
Still haven't heard about the house we put a contract to. Fingers crossed we hear back something soon.
-
Mel - yay for Jack sleeping so well! Must be a huge turn around. The weather here the past week has been fairly cold and wet and the house has been around 18-20 degrees and outside its been high teens. The mittens is a good idea.
oh my little darling is awake for a feed. And good timing cause boobs are starting to get sore! lol
I put some more pics of Avaleigh up plus what my belly is looking like now and I must say... I really miss my pregnant belly!!
-
Hi all,
No time for personals- am just really sort of waking up,
Kaetlyn was so unsettled last night from about 6 till 3am. Everytime she was asleep we put her in the cot, she would wake again. DH went and did an 11pm run to get a dummie and even that didnt work, she wouldn't suck on it. At last resort, we let her cry in cot for 5 minutes at a time and would go in and give her a pat and soothe her and then leave again. Oh it was so hard seeing her distressed like that. we then fed her again a 2am and did the same thing and walla! it worked, she finally went to sleep about 3am. She then slept right through till about 930 when I had to stir her for a feed.
Does anyone have any advice on settling? It was at the stge where i was feeding her every 2 hours to settle her, but as soon as we finished she was unsettled again.
DH and I were at the end of our tether. thankgoodness she finallly went to sleep. I think that she is so tired today from being awake so long last night.
-
oh my am i exhausted!! Avaleigh has not been to sleep since 11.30am! I've done everything over and over again - feed, burp, change nappy, cuddle - put her down and she is awake again! Is this normal for a 1 week old? I havent even managed a rest!!
Hopefully this means she is going to have a nice long sleep tonight! Planning to bath her tonight, so I hope she settles so I can sleep too.
-
hi Guys,
Just popping my head in to see how your all going, now that there are sooo many of you in here.
-
There are still more people to join this forum yet and already I cant keep up LOL!!!
Relle- re your question on how the boys are coping with charlottes arrival - we have our moments but they are going pretty well. I didnt even think Jesse would notice here but he has and starts crying when she does but is still quite loving to her and tries to touch her. Oliver is doting to the point of smothering her. He is always wanting to touch her and cuddle her and sometimes nearly squashes her!!. Fortunately neither of them have been "playing up" (well no more than usual LOL) with her arrival for which I am very happy. But like i have said before this could be just because DH is home and it might all come crashing down around me when he goes back to work!! Hugs to you - I am sure campbell will adjust soon. Thank goodness Angus is being a little champ for you.
V - I hope Avaleigh went up to sleep for you yesterday. It is so hard isnt it when you cant settle them - exhausting. Are you still co sleeping with her?
Mel - yay again for Jack he is doing so well. You must be stoked.
LV to everyone still in the late July thread - wont be long now although I am sur eyou are sick of hearing that.
Hi to everyone else. We havent heard from Flossie, Moglie and Kylie for a while - hope you guys are ok.
Not much new here. O and J were in cc yesterday so we had a lovely day with just Cahrlotte. We went out for lunch with friends and then pottered about the house - I even managed to bake some choc chip biscuits. Charlotte slept from 9.45 until 2.45 last night when I fed her and then went until about 6 again so I am pretty happy with that.
It is Olivers 3rd birthday next week so I am trying to organise a party for him but I am feeling very unorganised - so much to do so little time. Normally we just do the family party thing but this time he is having a few friends over so it will be interesting having 10 little people tearing about the place - scary!!
best run
BBL to say hi
Jem

Hello gorgeous July Mums!
I'm sneaking on whilst there's a moment of peace in this house just to say a quick hi to you all - it's been a long week or so, I've had BB withdrawal!
Anyway, some baby stats from me:
Name: Liam Patrick Close
DOB: 23/7/07
Weighed: 3490g or 7lb 11 (aka my convenience store kid!)
Head Circ: 35.5
Length: 49 cm
Looks: gorgeous
Parents: unbiased...and a wee bit tired
Emergency C/S, after failing to dilate in any shape or form after 16 hours or so of regular contractions, meconium in the waters when they were broken, then Foetal Distress after they gave me an epidural meant that he had to come out of the sunroof. Bit of a pity, but at the end of the day, just really glad he's healthy & here.
Anyway, the call for the milk bar is about to start, so better get a move on - talk to you all soon.
-
Hi everyone!
Thought I would quickly stick my head in while my little man is sleeping!
Name: Oscar Edward
DOB: 27 July 2007
Baby #: 1
Time: 4.48pm
Weight: 7pd 11oz
Length: 50cm
HC: 34cm
I am so in love with my little man! We came home from hospital Monday and had a really terrible night... he wouldn't settle and DH and I were so tired and frustrated as we didn't know what our poor little man wanted!! At 4am I ended up on the couch with him sleeping in my arms until 8am. We had a good day yesterday and last night Oscar was amazing... he fed at 8pm, 11pm, 3am and 7am. He did wake up at 4.30am but DH got up with him and settled him! So this Mummy is feeling a million dollars today!
Will pop back in soon when I have a little more time... take care everyone!
-
morning everyone!
looks like i am going to have anotherday with a fully awake baby that just wants to be held!! luckily she did fall asleep last night at 5.30pm then slept til 8 where she had a bath, feed and back to sleep until 1am and then fed every 3 hrs until 6am and hasnt gone back to sleep since!! i keep offering milk, which she takes, falls asleep, does a poo so i unfortunately need to change her and then she wakes again!! So back to holding and feeding and we will see what happens.
Jem - I havent needed to do the co-sleeping since that first night I gave it a go. She is doing pretty well at night now that she is so awake during the day!
Welcom to Jan, Nicky and Danielle!! Cant wait to go on this wonderful journey with you all..
-
Hi everyone! Sorry I haven't been around in a while, there just seems like so much to do witha newborn! i don't know how those of you who have more than one do it! Super women!
Seb is doing much better - we have started daktarin (for me on my nipples) and nilstat for him for his thrush. He was so unbelievably unsettled with the thrush, he would just scream with every feed. But we are slowly but surely getting things under control in this aspect.
We got weighed atthe GP on Friday, and the porker has put on over 600g since coming home (he now has a double chin!! so cute!!), so I don't think there is any problem with my milk! The good news for me is that I'm loosing the weight too, and let me tell you, I have a fair bit to loose so any loss is a good loss for me!
Congratultions to all the new July mummies - there are so many of us, it's so hard to catch up on everything! Lots of labour vibes to the July mummies still to pop.
Hope everyone is well, and getting some decent sleep. I got a 5 hour break last night and I feel like a new woman!!
-
I gt a 4hour block of sleep last night & feel tremendous today!!!!!
Got some cracking on my nipples but other than that all is cool, except little man just woke for boob, so gotta go!!!!!
-
I thought I had so many clothes, but the way Maddison is puking, I am going through them like nothing else! I'm finding she's not settling very well now when I put her to bed, I usually end up topping her up and she'll fall asleep or she falls asleep in my arms - I know this isnt good! And then as soon as I lay her in her bed flat - she vomits! Doesnt matter that she's had a massive burb either!
Anyway I will get to personals at some stage, juggling 3 kids isnt an issue - Yet! but I am trying to play with the boys a fair bit atm - I am so over spiderman Memory - lol!
-
I have the MCHN popping in tomorrow so I am hoping she will seigh Zy, he has 2 chins now too!
About to head out for a walk to pick up Maddy from school!!!
-
Hi all July Mummas.
Here is the link to the much awaited photos of Kaetlyn.
Enjoy.
Hopefully will have more time tomorrow to catch up!!!
xoxo
-
Hi everyone and welcome to all of the new July mummys!!!
I don't think I could successfully do personals, I think I would miss too many of you out! Great to see you in here Dani and Nicky! I am dreading the day DH goes back to work, our boys are still being little rascals and pushing the boundarys, here is hoping that once it is just the boys and I at home that they will settle down but time will tell.
I just realised I didn't post details Of Angus' birth, so I will. He is doing amazing as well. He went from 9.30 through to 6am this morning, I have no idea what I am doing, but I am not changing anything while this works!!! I am actually up to the 3yo and 1 yo more than the new born!!
Name: Angus Blake
DOB: 17 July 2007
Baby #: 3
Time: 2:47am
Weight: 3620grams
Length: 51cm
HC: 35cm
Labour:90 mins. No drugs or intervention whatsoever including a physiological 3rd stage. Successfully did the breast crawl for an hour and then fed for an hour. before even Dad got to hold him!

Hi everyone
Diana and I had a good day today. We had our six week check up and all is well (except that apparently I am still 4-5kg over my pre-pregnancy wieght :( - I didn't need to know that as I feel really good otherwise and all my clothes fit and all...)
Diana has been a lot more settled the past couple of days. I think she may have had a growth spurt last week, which is why she was so restless and sooky. She is 54cm now and weighs 3950grams!
Blueflower - re settling - when Diana was Kaetlyn's age a few weeks ago, she would not settle unless I was holding her, so we co-slept every night for about a week. After this, she was okay to be put to sleep in her bed. The early childhood nurse at the local centre said that young babies need to be held a lot by their parents in order to feel secure. When they are older they will feel more confident on their own. So picking them up and holding them to settle them at this age does not build bad habits.
Mel - good to hear that Jack is doing so well.
Kylie - glad you and Seb are doing so much better.
Welcome Danielle, Jan and Nicky (and anyone else I may have forgotten )
Hope you are all doing well. Diana wants a feed now, so I better go. :D
-
well I have had an interesting day!! Avaleigh had been awake since 6.30am this morning and I think she only got about 2 hrs of broken sleep during the day. She is out like a light right now tho!! Avaleigh was great tho, she was just happy sitting around and looking at stuff and she would only get angry when it was feeding time!
-
morning everyone,
I'm typing with 1 hand as have a snuggly boy in the other & he's just too cute to put down. It's only been a week & a bit, but already he has changed so much. 1 good thing about a c/s is that he has a really nicely shaped head. Trying to look at the positives, cos still pretty teary about the whole thing. It's annoying, because I almost never cried throughout pregnancy, but seem to be having at least 1 massive bawl a day at the moment - bl%%dy hormones!. At least the pimples are clearing up.
V - regarding Avaleigh's cold hands, I'm pretty sure that this is pretty normal.Their circulation isn't great at this age, so the best way to check that they're warm enough is t'o feel their torso, not hands or feet. I'm dressing Liam in a singlet, body suit, then a wrap, with just a wool blanket (doubled over) on top for sleeping, & he seems fine. I think if they're cold they'll probably tend to yell a bit more, whereas if they're too hot they'll just get sleepier - just like us really.
Question - how long before the umbilical cord drops off?? I am a little unmotherly, because I find it pretty gross & can't wait until it's gone & he has a normal tummy.
-
Jan - Avaleigh's umbilical cord dropped off this morning! So i would say Liam's will drop off soon too.
Avaleigh is still not really sleeping today. I dont know whether she has an upset tummy or is hungry. I fed her this morning at 9am and she wouldnt settle. She did a poop so I changed her and gave her some more cuddles and a top up (I think! LOL memory is bad). I cuddled her some more and she did another poop. So I changed her and then cuddled her and while I was cuddling her I could feel like her tummy was rumbling but she was not showing any hunger signs. She eventually fell asleep in my arms so I put her in her bassinette, where she slept for maybe 30mins and is now awake again but is happy to suck on her dummy.... What do you all think - hungry or upset tummy? I have my first meet with the Child Health Care Centre this arvo so I will see what they say..
-
Howdy.... Zyon's umbilical cord dropped off on Monday, DH buried it in the garden where Indah's is which is partof his beliefs/culture & he has to feed it & give offerings daily, burning incense etc...
The MCHN has just left all is going great guns he gained 240g in 5 days, so he's definately getting enough milk! I love seeing it dribble from the corner of his mouth!
I wnat to try & write up Zy's birth story tomorrow too...
He seems to feed from 6pm til 10pm continuously, but then sleeps til about 3am, then feed & sleeps again til 7am, so it's not too bad!!!
I still have my hormonal rash on my face so am off to the GP tomorrow, I hope I can get rid of it easily, as it's really annoying me!!!
-
Hi All,
An addition to you buddy group
Name: Georgie Olivia
DOB: 26 July 2007
Baby #: 1
Time: 9:54am
Weight: 2675 grams
Length: 45cm
HC: 34cm
Labour: caesarean (breech)
Been home from hospital for 2 days now. Everything is going surprising well, but she has been unsettled today so things could be changing. Maternal health nurse made visit today. Georgie had put on 60gms since leaving hospital 2 days ago so happy with that.
Georgie's umbilical cord feel off today as well.
Looking forward to getting to know you all.
-
That's good news about the umbilical cord, sounds like I don't have too much longer to wait.
Having a touch of deja vu atm - I'm back here typing with 1 hand, as sleepy baby in the other. Think I have the opposite problem to you V - Liam just wants to sleep today, barely interested in the feeding station at all, so I'm kind of anticipating a bad night once he does wake up. So going to try to get some mini kips whenever I can in the next few hours, just in case.
it's good to hear of all these healthy weight gains for our Bubs - think Liam put on around 150g after leaving hospital - I have a little fatty boombah on my hands I think :)
-
Can't believe how big this group is growing:dance:
Welcome to all the new July mummies, I hope your little sweethearts are just wonderful.
Well I downloaded some news photos of Jack and Charlee. Jack is smiling alot now, he is sooooo cute, I'm in love with him soooooooo much.:p He has been such an incredible well behaved little man. Sleeping great during the night, the last couple of night he has only woken once, big yey!
Charlee the poor little thing is in the wars lately. She is still finding her sea legs, so still taking so craking falls. Today alone, she bit her lip spilling blood out everywhere, 3 new bruises on her head and and stratch on her cheek, poor little thing, she is a roughen that is for sure. I think we might have a little tom boy on our hands
Anyway I not going to attempt some personals tonight, just put Jack down and I still have alot to do before bed. So hopefully I'll get a chance tomorrow to get on and catch up with you all.
Take Care
Mel.

Hi Everyone,
Finally I have a chance to pop in and get started in here (only 3 weeks after Amelie made it into the world - LOL!!) Looking forward to catching up more regularly - goodness knows where the time goes with the little one around!
Name: Amelie Grace
DOB: 13 July 2007
Baby #: 1
Time: 2:37am
Weight: 3910 grams
Length: 53cm
HC: 36cm
Labour: caesarean (posterior, after a long labour)
Well, in summary, Amelie is being a bit of a nightmare! She is an angel during the day, but as soon as I give her her midnight feed, she refuses to go back to sleep and we're usually up until 5 in the morning. Not very fun for dad as he has to get up to go to work the next day. We're hoping she gets through this phase soon, as it's wearing us out!
On the feeding front, she is a guts! Loves her mum's milk and drinks so much she sometimes makes herself sick. At least that's better than one who doesn't feed, I reckon. She was weighed today and they reckon she is 4350g, so she's putting on plenty of weight!
Will try to pop in when I can and keep up with you girls!
-
Just got back from getting the kids weighed and Jack has now put on 1.4kg since birth, he now weighs 4.83kg, what a little piggy hey!! And he has grown 3.5cm.:p He also slept 6 hours straight last night, I couldn't believe my eyes when I woke up at 4am what time it was, I feel like a different women today:dance:
It's very quiet in here today, anyone about? I finally have both kids down at the same time doesn't happen all that often.
Anyway hope our all well.
-
Hi there girls!
Little ones asleep and Adams out for the day, so I've got some time to pop on.
I must say, I am having a dream run with little lachlan. He is feeding like a trooper! The domicilliary midwife was extrememly happy with the way things are going here.
When we left hospital, Lachlan was only 100 grams below his birth weight. I am pretty sure he is now abouvfe his birth weight and it's only day 6!
His cord stump fell off on Tuesday night, which we thought was really early, but the middie was again quite pleased with how it looks.
I am really starting to get the hang of the breast feeding. I thought I would have so much trouble but Lachlan is in love with mummy's boobies! hehe
He is sleeping quite well. seems to get at least 2 hours at a time. He is cluster feeding at night, but he is getting better and better. Had plenty of sleep last night, so today I am feeling great. We went on our first shopping expedition before. Mum and I took him to my last 2 workplaces. He slept the entire time!
With regards to settling ur little ones, I tried something new the other night and it seemed to work. After feeding Lach, changing him and then feeding him again, if he is a little unsettled, I put one of my breast pads in his bassinette. He seems to love falling asleep on my chest, but sometimes he gets grumbly when I put him down. The idea of the breast pad is that he can still smell the milk, so he thinks he is still on my chest. He seemed to settle pretty quickly the other night when I tried this.
Anyway, I am thinking about having a nap now... get a few more hours sleep in while I can.
I hope you are all enjoying your little ones very much! I am absolutely loving being a mummy. How good is it?
Hugs to all.
Nicky
-
Hey Nicky,
I like the idea of the breast pad- I might try it tonight if she is unsettled.
Sometimes, one thing will work one night and the next night the same thing will not work. I guess it is just trial and error at the moment so see what suits her and Us best. One of the books say that it will take them 2 weeks to get into a routine of sleeping so.... guess we'll just have to wait and see!!
Veronica- I have a book called Baby Love by Robin Barker. It was reccomended to me by a friend who knew nothing about babies when she had one (Like you and I and few others here!!). I find that it is great- has everything we need to know from dressing to feeding to taking care of the navel. Its not biased, but gives you all information about a subject- like settling- it lists so many different ways but never says this method is best, or dont do it this way, AS EVERY CHILD AND PARENT IS DIFFERENT. I hope this helps, as I have noticed that you are asking alot of the same questions that I look up in the book.
xoxo
