Okay I've cought up now!
Its nearly midnight so I'm going to try and make this quick.
Amanda: Glad to hear Kailen is doing better. Happy Birthday to Lauchie! I'm sure the Codeman looks as cute as ever - is he rolling over or to one side yet??
Bellasmum: Glad to see you back in here Jess. Have your issues been sorted with hubby yet (dare I ask?).
Simone: Also glad to see you in here too darls - lucky you for nightclubbing I think its been 6 years for me and would LOVE to do it again - now only if I could find a club that plays only 80s and 90s music 'cause I hate that techno crap!
Update: Aleise has rolled onto one side by herself but hasn't done much more than that. She's playing with toys I give her now and loves this doll with orange hair (that's a tad ugly - my mum gave it to her) and she sucks on its hair, dress etc. Then when she gets bored she pushes it to the floor (she's in her babyswing a lot). Daycare went well for her today and she got more attention that usual as they've had 13 cases of chicken pox AND 3 of foot and mouth AND 2 of gastro. Lucky for me she's fine!
Well next week is last week of freedom then I'm back to work. Need the $$ desperately.
Question: Bottlefeeding mums - has anyone discovered their baby slept well all night only to find recently they wake for another feed in the morning? Aleise did that again today and I had to get up at 3am, she finished by 3.30am then burpies took until 3.45am then she did the biggest possett on my shirt and on her face and she looked very proud of herself for doing it! I was not impressed as I had to soak my shirt, get back to the bedroom, turn light on and find another nightshirt - Matt wasn't happy I woke him either. Oh the joys of motherhood.
Anyway I've gobbed on long enough - will pop in again tomorrow.
Night all! :)
-
Jess good to see you back, poor bella breaking her arm.
Neeny yep, Cody is rolling from his back to his tummy, he can also rotate on his back anywhere from 180 to 270 degress and he's gooing and gaaing heaps.
Rory good to hear that you had a good night.
Well I'll be making the birthday cake today, so that will be fun as well as cleaning the house.
hugs xoxo
-
hi all,
Amanda - i'm glad your family is all home and safe, Kailen was a brave boy! Good luck with the cake.
IK - I read your delema with interest and thought you should take him, but then read Rory's reply and I have to say I agree with her. You should BF, just have DH bring him to you to feed then take him home to play. (Just my opinon). I agree that it takes a community to raise a child, so the 'community' in this case would involve your DP taking an active role in being the primary caregiver and the old men understanding that a baby needs his mum's milk.
Baths - good luck with the party prep. Sounds like fun. Hope your hair appointment went well, I desperately need one!
Nenny - enjoy your last week of freedom, i know what you mean about the $$.
I think Ally is going through growth spirt as she now wakes at 1.30 and 4.30 for a feed? I wake her at 9.30 for a feed as well. Now it is all too much. Before I would feed her at 9.30 and she would only wake at say 3am and then 6.30-7am, this additional feed is making me very tired....
must run, ally is finally asleep and need to go shower!

Ok before I get onto personals I’ll give you all an update on me because I’ve been pretty quiet. Ryan’s naming day on the 1st went great. He was a good boy & slept right through the formalities. Although it appears he doesn’t like Matt’s mum. Every time he went to her he had a bit of a fit! The wedding plans are going well. We’ve found a reception and ceremony venue. The reception will be at a nice place called the Lagoon in Wollongong. You can Google it if you like We’ve also found an XY Falcon to use as a wedding car for FREE which I love!
I’ve been offered & accepted a job that I start on the 30th. Ryan has a day care place fulltime with Family Day Care and starts there on the 30th. Looking forward to the extra $$ so we can save for the wedding & the house. Matt loves his new job. Um… what else? Saw my sisters baby at Ryan’s day & although he’s 6 weeks younger, he is heavier than Ryan already. She engages in practices that I don’t agree with such as putting things like chocolate topping, gravy etc on his dummy. So I found it a little hard to keep my opinion to myself at times.
Now personals. I’m only starting from Page 4 so if I miss you I’m sorry but I’ve read everything. I promise!
Nic – Have you got pics of Nixon’s christening up yet?
Simone – long time no see. I hope you’re going well?
Bath – Are you ready for the party yet? I’m a little apprehensive of Ryan’s parties. All so much to organise but I’m sure he’ll have a great time! I miss loot bags!!
Amanda – I’m glad Kailen is home. I hope he’s going well today? Your cakes sound awesome!!
Ali – your picnic sounded divine!! Gosh lots of babies down your way!!!
Enigma – your little girl is such a stunner
IK – I agree with Rory on your CFA meeting. You may get a better result if it’s a statement about BFing. I’m glad you’re starting to feel better.
KL – gosh Tee is little isn’t she? Ryan’s been in 00 for about 3 weeks now. He must be a hoofer! With dressing, I dress Ryan in what Matt would be wearing. They both seem to be little furnaces!
Jaspen – Good on Samuel!!!!
Rory – Glad you enjoyed Katherine Jenkins! Sounds like flubby had a goodtime at home with daddy!!
Karen – Do what is best for you. If you feel you have to wean, I’m sure people will be supportive no matter what.
Jess – good to see you stopping by. Haven’t seen you in a while. I hope Bella gets lots of notes on her cast.
Neeny – LOL at the doll. Kids always choose the ugly toys ;) I hope she doesn’t pick anything up from daycare. I’m so lucky Ryan is going to FDC I think there’s last chance of mass outbreaks of bugs there. With your question for bottle feeders. Ryan did that last week. Woke for a 2nd feed during the night. Then it stopped until Wednesday night when he woke every hour! And last night he was back to normal, sleeping right through. Maybe Aleise just had a bubble in her tummy that would nit budge? Explaining the posset.
Cee-cee – Have you tried not waking Ally at 9:30? I know I’m not BFing so my ideas might be irrelevant but I was always told never wake a sleeping baby.
Um ok I think that’s it from here for now….. oh yeah, a few pictures of the naming are on my WWW got to get the rest from MIL.
-
I think it might be the age thing for waking for extra feeds during the night. Tori has been doing exactley the same thing as Aleise and Ally over the last week, she was waking for an extra feed at midnight and then her normal feed at 3/4. It only last just over a week though and last night she went back into her normal routine of only waking once at 3 for a feed.
Karen- I think that if weaning is the right thing to do for you then you go right ahead and do it. You have given Nathan the best start with being a breastfed bubba, but you know in yourself when the time is right for you to stop. I am going to start weaning Tori when we get back from Bali in Nov. partly because I am going to go back to work and partly because I feel that it is going to be the right time for us. I think for each person it is a personal decision and you have to make it based solely on what is right for you, your baby and your family.
Amanda- I hope Kailen is starting to feel better.
Jess- Great to see you back, looking forward to catching up on all your news.
Rory- Glad to hear you enjoyed your night out. It must have been nice to do somethign a little bit different.
Neeny- Glad to hear that all is going well for Aleise at Daycare, hasnt going back to work come around fast?
It looks like it is party season in here for some of the older brothers, I can't wait until I can start making fancy cakes for Tori's birthday and organising parties and stuff. My MIL still made fancy cakes for her kids for their birthdays right up untill she moved to bali a couple of years ago- so all three kids were in there 20's and still got a special cake for their birthday which I thought was really cool.
As for us all is going well, this is the first weekend in AGES that we have NOTHING planned and I am so excited, means we cang et some stuff done around the house and just spend some time veging out. We are going to a Quiz night on Monday to raise funds for breast cancer (this is something I always support as both my Mum and my Aunty have had breast cancer) and it is the first time we are going out and leaving Tori with my Mum and Dad. I am off to have coffee with the BB girls again today- that will make 3 weeks in a row that we have met up.
Went to visit DH Aunty, Uncle and their new baby at the Hospital on Wednesday and she is just soooooo cute, you can really see that she is related to DH side of the family already. She was about the same size Tori was when she was born and I just couldnt believe how small she was, just goes to show how quickly they grow up.
ETA: Candy I am glad that the name day went well. Congrats on the job, I am sure that Ryan will be fine in family daycare. It sounds like the wedding plans are ticking along well, I really enjoyed planning my wedding.
-
Candy - thanks for the update, gee you have been busy. Your wedding is going to be great, I love weddings, so much love is sent your way from so many people it is amazing. WOW - where did you get the gown from? I have to say, ryan is a pretty good looking bubba!
RE: Waking for a 9.30pm feed. Yeah I think I will stop that now. Ally had only gained 300 grams in 3 weeks so I started the extra feed so she would put on weight (I had BF issues with low supply to start off with so I think I needed the extra stimulation). I think my BF is now perfect (I'm so proud of myself) so no need to wake now.
Ali - i know it is so nice when you have nothing planned.. Have fun with the BB girls at your lunch.
Yeah, Nic, I looked for your photos the other day but could not find them? Are they up?
-
Quick one from me - really MUST do work from home today (Red Hill Market tomorrow all day, better put hours in now while I can). We have just polished off our website with pics of Flynn, our house (kitchen only at this stage) and stuff with "B" (Brendan) our nephew.
-
Ok it has taken a while to catch up but i have, excuse now if spelling mistakes my kboard is playing silly buggers.
Simone- R u enjoying being back home? How r u and DH travelling?
Enigma- Love the new pics of Aneta, what a cutie pie! Hey how long left b4 u leave oz?
Jaspen- Congratulations Samuel for rolling!! so exciting isnt it! Nixon has still only done it a handfull of times since his first time 2 weeks ago.
Bath/Amanda- hope u both get everything u want to have organised for the boys parties on the weekend. Amanda what sort of cke u doing again?
IK- hmm i see your predicament. i would probably be the same as u and want to take Oscar for the principle if nothing else, i agree with what Rory said about soley making the issue about bf. let us know what u decide to do
Jess- Good to see u back in here, look forward to seeing u on here more & catching up soon
Rory- glad u liked the show, i have never heard of Katherine Jenkins b4 but sounds like it was a great night
Ali- i love quiz nights! not that i am any good at them but a fun night and definatley for a worthy cause. You girls are doing good to be catching up once a week!
Neeny- Are you going back to work full time or how many days for? are u looking forward to some adult interaction!
CeeCee- ally is 3 months so possibly having a growth spurt yeah. oh she was 3 months yesterday wasnt she? Happy 3 Months Alexandra!!
Candy- glad ur wedding plans are going along nicely. Woollongong is a very lovely place to get married, where r u having the ceremony in a church/beach/park?
Karen- How's the feeding going? youve done very well & if its time for bottle than u have given Nathan a great start, it must be extremley demanding with 3 boys to handle
Melb meet up- gee we have been planning this for a long while. So did u say Bath that the 13th u can only make it a short stop? like u have something on? I do have a MCHN appoint that day but could see if it could be changed if its a goer. If not lets set another date to aim for. If Friday is the best day the next fri i am avail is the 27th Oct.
im holding Nixon while i type and he is seriously giving me a hicky on my arm!
Update on Nixon: we are mixing between bf/ ebm & FF. i persisted for over a month and since bf Nixon for his morning feed and usually his 2nd feed then a combo ther after we are both much happier. i decided if we are out i will give him a bottle. I have have some expressed it will be that, if not it will be formula.
Regarding solids & Reflux. Since starting Nixon on rice cerial his reflux has improved dramatically. We see the paed in 2 weeks but he has suggested to start Nixon on solids at 6 months actual age rather then 6 months corrected (which means we wouldnt be starting till he was 7.5months) so we started a little earlier but i can already see the improvment. Once we see the paed we will finally be off the vitamins etc he has been having since birth & may even try stopping the zantac to see how that goes. My god finally we might be off all of this & be a happy non medicated bub!
DH turned 30 yesterday, made a nice dinner for him and had a cake. Tonight is his surprise party @ a bowling place, i THINK he has no idea about it!
Then saturday nixon starts swimming yay!!
Then Sunday it is out 1 yr wedding annaversary! just gonna stay home & have a bqq i think.
i did add some pics to my www, i just checked & they are there. Silly me though forgot to take one of Nixon on his own, but we go to a wedding in 2 weeks & i will be dressing him back up and take a proper one of him in his outfit!
Hi to Kel, Racs, KLR,Emishka, Gabysmum, Jo,Dee,Donna, the newbies that we havent heard from in a while Kells/Alicia/Louise?? the oldies we havent heard from in a while Nickel,Nicks mum
-
Hi all, haven't been around for a while, taking me ages to catch up, but hope everyone is well!
Reflux & solids... our dr has been advising me to start Freya on rice cereal for a while. The thing is that Freya's stomach becomes so distended after a 180ml feed, any more and she throws it back up. However, she is still hungry and needs more food. Solid food can provide more concentrated calories...this is the dr's theory, and I guess it makes sense to me. Freya has also started waking at midnight for a feed, when previously she has been going till 2/3/4am...she also won't sleep past 5am, but that's a different story. So today she has had her first bit of rice cereal, just a teaspoon, and she seemed to really enjoy it. I know I am opening myself up to all sorts of criticism and tut-tutting by admitting this, but I am following my instincts, under medical supervision, so I feel confident with my decision. And Nickers, hearing from you that it has been so helpful for Nixon is very encouraging!
OK, personals...
Nickers, congrats on your anniversary! Hope your DH's party goes well, and that he is suprised! I did a suprise party for my DH's 30th back in May, and it was a huge success.
Candy, congrats on your job, where is it at? Glad Ryan's naming day went well. Sounds like the wedding plans are coming along beautifully...woohoo for the XY Falcon, what a cool car! DH has a ZD Fairlane, which I think is kind of it's brother car.
Amanda, sorry to hear about all the dramas with poor Kailen, glad he came through alright.
Oh no, she's awake, gotta go, try and be back soon!
-
Ali – How can you say you have nothing planned? It’s BATHURST weekend!!!
Cee Cee – Matt’s mum made that gown. It’s smocked. She’s a bit of a craft queen. You name it, she does it! Thanks, I like to think he’s pretty cute ;) I’m glad to hear you’ve got your BFing down pat now!!
Nic – We’ll be having the ceremony in a park… just not sure which one yet!! LOL at the hicky on your arm. I get those on my shoulder. Sounds like the rice cereal is working a treat! Good on you for getting to one year without killing Trent :P
Jo – If your doc is suggesting it, why would you be criticised? Personally I follow Drs advice. I know if the doc suggested I started solids now for a reason, not “just because”, then I would. The plans are coming along well. I’m an over organised freak! Who LOVES XYs!!!
-
Thanks everyone for your support, I am still feeding , still wondering, as jaspen and Bath said the convenience in middle of the night is a big drawcard, will hang in there and just see how i go.
IK - glad to hear you're starting to feel a bit better
Bath - all the best for the party, re losing weight - i seem to be putting it on My tummy is getting bigger it seems. I had better take a test just to make sure. Those who are bf has af returned?
Jess - good to hear from you again
Neeny - glad Aleise has settled in to daycare
Rory - I know I don't seem to produce as much if I don't drink enough water. Glad you enjoyed your night out.
Wow Candy, seems like everything is falling into place
Ali - enjoy your quiet time - I think you might be right about that age thing after a week of feeding often during night Nathan slept 8 hrs last night and is having a big sleep today
Ceecee - I'm proud of you too, good on you for persisting
Nicole - so glad to hear Nixon is doing well and that solids are helping, i think you've done a great job to persist with bf and expressing for so long considering the obstacles
Jo - you have to do what's best for Freya it's wonderful she enjoyed her rice cereal. Oooh our little babies are growing up
-
*groan* ...it's never ending... preparations for this party... have spent way more than I wanted to but it's just a traditional affair, nothing flash except the cake (made-to-order for 40 people at $137 will post a piccy of it next week). Just finished making the "pass the parcel" and the Jelly "****tails": blue jelly with two lollie frogs and those little ****tail umbrellas - kids love them, believe me LOL Wade didn't nap today and I've been constantly shooshing him off the rose gardens where he has been tossing the new wood chip mulch onto the paths grrrrr Now BooBah is on thank goodness!
You've all done such mammoth personals latley! I can't manage it... however it's great to see some AWOL Junies back in here: Bellasmum and Jo... oh and Nic: regarding the meetup: I'll be able to stop and chat for about an hour so try to come in :) I also have a MCHN appointment that morning so will be pushing it a bit with the boys but you're right; we've been trying to organise this for ages... we just gotta do it! I've got to make sure i have everything for the races the next day but I'm thinking I might just wear what I wore last year, stuff it, only a few people will know... and it's a gorgeous outfit that I have all the bits and pieces for... plus after spending so much on Wade's party I gotta economise somewhere!
Rolling over: Niall isn't doing it yet... his startle reflex is still very strong and I reckon he'd probably cry if he did it by accident! He'd push that lower lip up and howl with his little tongue vibrating in that cute way it does LOL awww mean mummy!
ok... what next? Gotta organise the party music...
ETA: oh and congratulations on your job Candy! FDC is certainly a better option regarding catching less bugs than at a creche... also if you have a good carer it's much nicer in terms of personalised care... I used FDC when Verity was about 2.5yo for when I had partime work. She seemed to love it. Just observe Ryan really closely when you drop him off to see if he feels happy there... and take it seriously if he is consistently unhappy about being dropped off there. Anyhow well done! I hope the transition goes smoothly :)
ETA again for Karen: no AF hasn't returned yet... another bonus of BFing... but my back's killing me!
-
I'm still part BF and AF still hasn't returned....
-
I am still BF and AF returned about 4 weeks ago
-
I'm still BF and AF hasn't returned.
-
i'm still part bf and af returned 4 weeks ago. (hasnt been back yet)
(at the time was all bf or ebm.)
-
BF and no AF, however mine was not that regular pre Ally. In fact I needed to go to a Chinesse herbalist to ovulate on time.. I took this disgusting tea each night that I made in a pokra and SUNK the house out, but it worked!!!!!
-
Been out all day (well, now it's well after midnight, so good morning all!), but here's a precis:
Happy 3 months for Ally for yesterday (well, two days ago now)!!
BF no AF but I'm also on the mini pill...but I don't think I'm ovulating anyway cos I'm BFing on demand
Thanks for your support re: this 'boys club' meeting. I've got no other reason to take Oscar than because I'm BFing him, and I'm not sure what other point I would have to make other than that, so that IS my principle, i.e. I'm lactating and exclusively BFing Oscar, why do I need to put myself out and deprive Oscar of a fresh feed when it really should be simple enough to take him with me and feed him when he gets hungry. If he grizzles then I take him out of the room, settle him in the HAB and go back in. If I don't take him I have to leave the room anyway to express into a toilet bowl!
Feeling HEAPS better, just still have a persistent bit of phlegm that keeps sliding back down my throat at the last moment before I'm nearly free of it...Oscar has the same! But no temps, no headaches, no heavy head feeling - it's great!
going to help DP crack his back and then we're all off to bed (Oscar is sleeping in HAB, so I'll have to do the 'slide').
-
IK - yeah, good decision. Please let us know how it goes. Glad your cold is better, did you ever get to drink that ginger tea?
I can't belive Ally is 3 months old. What happens now? I feel I know everything (well a lot) about newborns, now she is a baby it is a whole new world.
Gawd, it is 3am, I can't sleep. Ally woke at 1.30am for a feed and I've been up ever since. Does this happen to anyone else? It happens to me almost every night now. At least tonight I've decided to get onto BB rather than lay there awake all night...
I would clean but it could wake Ally up (he hee). Well, not much happening here, may go read some birth stories to remind me not to get pregnant for a while longer... He hee
-
hi all,
Finally got to sleep at 4.30, of course Ally woke at 5am for a feed and of course her nappy had not worked and soaked through her clothes so had to do the big change but then my wonderful DH took her till 8.30am. He told me he took her on the Bondi to Bronte walk, then to the Sydney Fish Markets (to buy us salmon steaks for dinner). He is great (however he did forget to take her hat which I was a bit upset about - I wonder why most men just don't think about things like that?) oh well, did not want to say too much as he does a great job and I would go insane if I did not have him to help me with the morning shift!
Jess - good to see you on line, we were wondering how you have been.
Jo - re: solids - nah, I'm sure no one thinks your strange for starting solids a tad early. Each to their own, we know you are a good Mum and that is all we are about. Also if you can't share here then were can you go?
Candy - I'm so happy you have found a place in FDC, my sisters boys LOVED their care.
Baths - sorry your back is so sore. What do you use to feed? Have you seen those pillows "by breast friend" I was thinking of buying one for my back. Is the party today or tomorrow? Hope it all goes well (you too Amanda - you and your boys need a party after this week!)
Well, off to Centennial Park to meet some friends, chat tomorrow.
-
hey girlies, just a quickie, we're off to the thomas train at Puffin' Billy... I think someone mentioned they were going, if you wanna catch up for a bit and meet :) my number is 0432225633. (i dont mind posting it on here) talk to you guys tomorrow, will finally be able to catch up on the 3 or 4 pages ive missed d'oh!!
TTFN ta ta for now!! xx
-
Also, im BF on demand, and im not sure if AF is back yet, i had 4 days of heavyu bleeding then nothing, about 1 month after Allie was born, but im thinking if was just retained blood (tmi!!) Hasnt been back yet. YAY!!
-
morning Junies :- )
They've ( my parents ) taken Aneta for a walk again , so instead of stressing I'll do some personals here : -)
Us - we have hit a record !! Aneta slept 12 hours and 10 minutes last night , woke up for a mega feed ( 250ml ) and went back to sleep for another hour ... and what does she do when i bring her into the living room? yawn hehe..
Other than that, she keeps growing too fast , we are now into 0 sized clothes, and very heavy the CHCN toldus she is above average in length and weight so it looks like she'll be tall like DH
DH and I had a few fights over the last few weeks. The issue is that he takes over ALL the responsibility, I dont even feel like im the mother. They have bonded really well, and I have felt a bit left out . The poor guy just thought he was helping me out - but i want the extra responsibility and stress! Phew! at least now he understands :- )
Geeky ( Candy ) - no personals for you , I say everything on msn hehe :- ) Im excited about your wedding tho!
Ali - maybe one day I will actually be able to make it to one of those Perth meet-ups , till then keep saying hi from me to anyone who knows of me there :) I like your idea of picnics, we have been getting such nice weather I think we might copy you today and go on a picnic too . ( but all i'll take is 2 spoons and a jar of nutella ;) )
CC - sorry to hear you didnt sleep well. When Aneta was younger id have the same problem. She was sleeping soundly and I would sit and wait for her to wake up , the first few times she slept through the night, I actually sat through the night and waited. It was soooo tiring I was a zombie afterwards , so I completely understand you.
*This is just my opinion!!* But we never wake Aneta when she is sleeping , I used to wake her for a feed when she slept too long, but the CHCN told me that if a baby is healthy it will let you know when it is hungry , it wont sleep through it. But hey, we all have our methods :)
Rory - as soon as I get my act together im going to check out your website and see how your little munchkin has grown
Nickers - hey you :) Hows everything going?? We leave on the 27th of Jan. And believe it or not im actually looking forward to it. My family ( read:mum ) is going to make my marriage self destruct so we need to get away. DH mum ( who is very nice ) has a slight depression , she hasnt met Aneta yet - so Im sure when she meets her she will feel much better.. Hows Nixon going? Well done on your wedding anniversary !
Jo - listen to yourself and no one else. Back in time, they used to start babies on solids much earlier than now. No child is a textbook child. So obviously your baby is now ready for the cereal, and it might help with the reflux issue too. I cant wait to see what Aneta will be like on solids , I was thinking of starting now too ..but we established 5mths so iąll have to wait till then
Karen - im a bit behind , but have u switched to formula? if so how is it going ? im all for it!
Bath - im a bit delayed but HAPPY BIRTHDAY WADE !!!
Jess- good to see you on here , how is everything with DH?
IK - how are you and Oscar feeling?
ok, a huuuuuuge hello to everyone I havent mentioned !!! Now where the hell are my parents! I miss my baby
-
Hi All,
just added some pics of Nixon's first swimming lesson thismorning! He was so breezy about the whole thing, just relaxed, went with the flow it was fun! The others started last week so was their 2nd lesson. We started our own little group with babies from mothers group so good we all know each other and dads come to (some of them swim with bubs)
Wow Enigma Aneta is in 0 good stuff! Nixon is kinda getting between 000 & 00 now, got a nice little summery 00 on today which fits quiet well, but then other 000 still fit him well to. Think its all depending on what brand.
Simone have fun today, must go there one day, heard about it but yet to go.
CeeCee- bummer you couldnt get back to sleep thismorning, LOL about what to do with a baby!
IK how long u been on the mini pill? Did u think your supply went down when u first started taking it? I have it but havent wanted to take it yet cause i heard your supply can go down??
-
Simone - ohhh sound like your boys are going to have an excellent day!
Enigma - wow, what a good personals list! Sorry your Mum is driving you batty... I think my MIL will drive me batty, they are currently living OS, but are moving here in 6 weeks... how long are you going for? It is Denmark isn't it?
Oh that reminds me FIL had heart surgery and is fine now...So all good.
Baby girl is alseep going to nap myself - will catch up later
-
Nickers I love the pix of Nixon in the highchair, and the ones of him swimming have inspired me to look for baby swm classes in my area. On that point, IK, LOL about the Nazi swim coach! It sounds like she might subscribe to the Laurie Lawrence school of water-familiarisation in that you should start ASAP. We have been training Flynn since about 2 weeks to have his face under water (we warn him it is coming by saying "Flynn, ready, GO!" and that apparently conditions bubs to get used to and expect water on their face).
Bath, turns out the Peg Perego does recline - it means we can have Flynn at our level while eating dinner instead of on the floor in his rocker chair.
Hey Enigma, if its any consolation about your DH "over functioning", my BIL "under functioned" and IMO was totally useless with his son until he was about 3. So I guess at least now you can train DH to back off a bit and still have help, unlike my poor SIL who ended up being called back from the movies when our nephew was 3 months old because BIL couldn't settle him (he was bottle fed so lack of boobies was not the problem). I told my DH that I would kill him if he was ever so bloody useless with our kid and thankfully for me my DH is marvellous with Flynn, so much so that he sometimes is more "right" than me in reading Flynn's mood and needs.
CeeCee, it sounds like your DH is just as great as mine in the baby-wrangling dept!
Best go - bubba is asleep and I must have breakfast before he wakes
ciao bellas
-
hey guys,
Well, the long weekend with DF's family wasnt too bad but lachlan was very unsettled by the end of it(i expected that to happen anyway)
Mum came down from sydney to stay with me through the week which was a big help too.
Lachlan is still unsettled, i have been giving him a bottle of Reflux formula (thicker than normal formula) and he has been drinking about 200ml then still waking up 2 hours later for another feed, surely he cant be hungry, am i doing the wrong thing by feeding him?
its just at that time of the night i really dont want to be doing laps of the loungeroom trying to settle him and i know that feeding him will probably put him to sleep anyway.
I still dont have AF but, i have been feeling a bit crampy the last few days so who knows!!
Nickers - I have been thinking of doing the swimming lesson thing too, we live right near the water so i need him to be able to swim. Im thinking of taking him in the summer.
Bath - How did the party go?? There is no way i would be able to organise one of those at the moment!
enigma - 12hours and 10 mins????? Im sooooo Jealous!!!!!
Cee Cee - your DH sounds like an angel, i too would be upset about the hat but men just dont think like us and your probably best not to say anything.
Well, im off to get as much as i possibly can while Lachlan is asleep, i think i have about 25 mins left (he only sleeps for 40 mins at a time!!)
Big hello to everyone i havent mentioned!!:hello:

Having a really enjoyable relaxing weekend here, yesterday DH, Tori and I all went for a 2 hour nap to catch up on some much needed sleep. Lst night we made pizza and had a glass of wine and some icecream for dessert and just vegged out. SIL came over for dinner and we did some work on MIL bday present, all in all a nice relaxing evening.
Dee- Sorry to hear that you are still having troubles- I am sure that you are not doing the wrong thing by feeding him, I would probably be doing the same thing in the middle of the night (and often do when Tori wakes up in the night) Does Lachlan take a dummy (although I am sure it is something that you have already tried, but if he doesnt it may help him to settle)?
Anyway I had better go and have a shower and get dressed before it is afternoon, might find the motivation to do something today (or might not)

Sorry Simone - I didn't have your number with me, but I was in Belgrave just before - not sure when the Thomas thing was, but I stopped in at the fire station on my way home from the meeting in Lilydale. Bath didn't end up coming up, either, so you didn't miss a meet up :)
Having Oscar at the meeting was a big non-issue - he was such an easy boy for it. He slept till he got hungry, so I fed him and about 10 mins after that he got wriggly, so I stood up with him and then he was trying to chat, so being that I also needed to have a hearty cough I left the room for a bit, then stood with Oscar for the rest of the meeting. Afterwards some people came up and asked about it and cooed over him. The main 'grumpy old man' got up, walked past me and didn't even give me a sideways glance...just as well! I approached the two presidents (combined meeting of rural and urban brigade reps) just before the meeting began and assured them that if Oscar started up I would get up and that I was close to the door. They said not to worry and that it was great I had him!I made sure it didn't sound like I was asking permission for him to be there (cos I sure as hell wasn't driving back home without sitting through the meeting!). So, there, I did it and next time I'm an observer at one of the meetings it won't be with Oscar (February, he can stay with his daddy), but I'll have made my little point already and paved the path for someone else to walk on. Seems like a hullabaloo over nothing, but unfortunately you need to make a big deal out of little things when you're a girl in the CFA just so that some people realise you've got a right to be there.
Nickers - the swimming lesson looks fun!
Rory - I'll try to remember to email you the swim lady's phone number, cos she hires pool space at different pools. Yeah, I thought of Lawrie too! I mean, it's not like our Olympic swimmers were all in the water from birth, is it? Anyhow, i'd love for Oscar to be a waterbaby like me (I won't hide my agenda!), so I'm looking forward to it. I'm getting a brochure during the week, so I might even scan that and email it to you.
Got dinner at my dad's tonight, should be nice.
Where did that hail come from? Did any other Melb people get hail? It wasn't predicted last time I checked!
Well, have a nice Sunday, all!

me again !!!
Dee - im sorry to hear your still having settling issues. I read in a baby book somewhere thats warm baths/showers help a baby settle ( but im sure you have heard everything on the subject of settling ) another thing we did ( which killed my back but settled Aneta ) was holding her and bouncing lightly on the fitness ball ... right now Aneta is on 240ml every 4 hours. But my parents had an identical problem with my sister as you do. She would only settle for awhile after a feed ( formula fed ) so they kept feeding. A GP told them that this was making it worse because the babies system had no time to " rest " because it kept getting fed. My sister is now 16 and taller than me ( hehe ).. but it did last 2 years and no one could find out what was wrong. What im trying to say is that sometimes there just is no reason for it ( or at least a reason we cant easily find ). Im wishing you heaps and heaps of patience and I hope you get some rest, if you lived in Perth - id come and watch bubs for you so you could rest :)

Hey girls,
Sorry i haven't been on here in ages, i have just finished reading everyones posts. Neeny you know where i have been again :crying: I have started Tee on solids already, not every feed though. 2 more weeks and i will have to give her her 4 month needles, definately not looking forward to that.
I have been so tired and feeling sick lately i just don't know whats going on???
Went to the doctors yesterday and told him that my periods haven't returned and it's been 8 weeks, so he is sending me for a whole heap of blood tests- every hormone you can think of and wait for it A PREGNANCY TEST!! All i said was i ****in better not be, honestly girls if i was pregnant again i don't know how i would handle things, fingers crossed i'm not.
Also had Tee weighed she is now 9 pound  But is very long and thin so she doesn't look 9 pound. Wow i can't believe some of your bubs are already in 00 or 0 its amazing how different each baby is in growth and development.
I also took Tee to her first show as it was the wagga show lsat thurs and friday. We went thursday night- me, DF, Tee and my bestfriend Mel. It was so much fun except for the fact that i nearly made myself sick on the rides and paid for it the next day as it actually hurt my belly and scar...as the muscles were being used really hard without me realising but dr said that was normal as the muscles are only just getting used to being used full on again.
Tee might get her first swim in our pool on Thursday as it's supposed to be in the 40's....i'm definetly getting in, and i bought Tee her little floating seat thing to go in the pool yesterday so obviously it was perfect timing. Except for able to go swimming i am not looking forward to the heat as both me and Tee can't handle it.
Anyway gotta fly
-
Hey girls,
Me again. Forgot to mention Tee's latest phase. She is sucking on peoples toes, it feels so queer but i think its gross how can i stop her?
-
June Mummy - im crossing my fingers for you that you are not pregnant, i know what you mean though, my gosh, if i got pregnant again im sure i would have some sort of breakdown. I hope you can find out whats going on!
Ali - yes lachlan does take a dummy but at the moment he is pulling it out with his hands (accidently) but when he is upset and i try to give him a dummy he absolutely screams. Strange hey!
Enigma - come over here anyway!!!!! I would love you to come and look after him for me!! Good to know that Aneta is on 240ml. i thought i was giving him too much but id say that is how much he needs, i just dont understand why he is waking so much, surely its not hunger! i dont want him to end up overweight either!
Well, havent done much today at all, its been good, DF was watching the race at Bathurst on TV so that means a pretty boring day for me, luckily he got called out for work so now im cruising the foxtel (lachlan is asleep by the way YAY!!)
Anyway, i guess i should go and organise dinner while i have a chance.
Oh forgot to say DF got Lachlan to sleep last night, he is so proud of himself. I think its done wonders for his confidence too!
-
Ummm, June Mummy, how about ask people to stop sticking their toes near her face to start with???
Dee - if the formula thing doesn't make a difference, just know that you can revert to BF, even though it might take a bit of perseverance to relactate (but might not, you never know!), if you want to go back to it. Call the ABA hotline if you do, they can get you on the right path.
Enigma - yeah, there are worse things than your partner taking too much responsibility, but I can see how it would bug you, by the same token.
Gotta head off to my dad's now - managed to watch another DVD this arvo :) Oscar's been a zen child lately...what's the catch?
-
June Mummy - sorry to be blunt but why are peoples toes near your babies face??
-
well girls this time last year i was 6 weeks pregnant & looking as stunning as ever in my wedding dress hehe!! my how so much has happened in 12months.
we just stayed @ home today dh cooked some nicely marinated calamari & kebabs on the bbq, had some wine and watched Bathurst. did no house work which was great!
-
Nickers - Congratulations again :) this time next year you'll be remembering how Nixon was 5mths old , meanwhile he will be running around the house chatting away.. *sigh* time flies when your having fun
Dee - send us some pics of Lachlan :)
-
Nickers congratulations on your wedding anniversary - it sure has been a big year for you! First anniversary is symboised by "paper" - did you guys buy each other pressies, or was Nixon enough for ya? :)
Dee I can't imagine how tough it must be for you two! (or should I say three?) If it's any consolation I hear that the "difficult" babies turn into wonderful children and teenagers. Have you thought about getting some of those SWAT team sleep trainers in? They apparently come to your house and stay the night and help you through - usually they're midwives or nurses. I can hear the mission impossible music now and I have an image in my head of two or three MCHN swooping down ropes into Lachlan's room, one armed with a bunny rug the others with dummies and aromatherapy baths - dada dada, dada dada, dada dada, dada dada.....Lachlan would probably fall asleep from the shock of it all!!
IK, I would like to know where that swim teacher is working, and good work on the meeting. Like I said, you will be paving the way for other women in the CFA so you should be proud of yourself.
I am going to be really good today and do heaps of work - I have been slacking off and finding all sorts of reasons not to do it (vacuuming needs doing, oh look there's a sale on at Target, better bake some bisuits, etc). This whole working from home thing really takes discipline!! And the biggest bummer is I have this guilt hanging over my head from not doing it - sort of like the studying-procrastination guilt you get before exams. Better get on top to this today, cause the hours I "owe" are just going to keep mounting up.
ciao bellas
BTW DH just put new footage on the website of Flynn doing a stage dive off our couch - cracked me up!

Hey Everyone...
We were a day early for the Thomas thing, but its going on until november, 3 weekends, so we will make the trip back up, Was a very long drive for us, and DH refuses to pay to drive of a road, so we took the long way instead of the citylink.... It was great (even if it did cost us a bit) maybe we should see about booking a carriage, it was a really nice relaxing day, maybe go in the morning, stop off at lakeside for a picnic and get a early arvo train back? Its about $30 for an adult, return. I even sat with my legs outside the window, felt like a kid again :)
Anneliese is Officially out of 0000's!! (except for the outfits that were 000's with a 0000's tag...) Now i need to buy more clothes, she had HEAPS as everyone send me loads of 5 and 4 0's... AT least now ill get to go shopping :)
Im trying to get a pic of Allie up on here, i want a new ticker, as much as i love the one of the boys and no, thats not me in with them, thats the weekend i had Anneliese, i was in hossy, thats my 20yo sister, Kellie.
Hey IK, we are looking at moving out BElgrave way, we just love it out there... And both of us will be looking to join the CFA, so good on you! :D
HEy to everyone i didnt get, bubs is stirring and ive gotta run
TTFN ta ta for now... xxx

Morning Junies... just catching up on the weekend posts... congratulations Nic on your anniversary :) sounds like you had a lovely, relaxing day. Rory: I've just noticed you've become a Platinum member... good work! Can't wait to see your avatar! IK: We must have had some kind of psychic connection on the weekend: I felt my phone vibrate with your incoming sms just as I was finishing writing mine... once again, sorry we couldn't make it but try to come in the Friday if you can... great to hear the CFA meeting went smoothly :)
Just briefly: Wade's party was a wonderful success; everyone came, weather perfect, games went well except for the pinata which didn't break properly and all the parents said they'd never seen one work so big hint guys: don't bother with them! Wade dealt with it all much better than anticipated... he sat serenely at the head of the table like a king with all his subjects whereas I thought he'd be dropping his bundle every 5 minutes with all the noise and chaos! The best aspect of the party was that we were able to introduce all our neighbours to each other who nearly all said to each other: "oh I recognise your face... didn't realise you lived so close" etc. Verity was EXCELLENT at helping me co-ordinate events too. Also we worried needlessly that we had under catered regarding food: the kids hardly ate anything and the adults mainly required mineral water top ups. Also the best thing we did was have Wade's Duplo train set set up... it seemed to really calm the kids down as a quiet activity option.
back later...
