Hi Junies... been hard at work turning our linen press into a stationery cupboard! The next thing I'm going to do is go out and buy a padlock! I am so SICK of (mainly Verity) leaving the scissors, sticky tape, staplers etc lying around and opening up new stuff like Post Its and Blue Tac without using up what's already open... and wasting paper! Even Wade has taken to helping himself to pristine Reflex paper just to scribble on! And that's nothing compared to what Wade does with textas and pencils when they are left within reach! Anyhow, we have enough storage in our bedrooms to absorb each person's bed linen etc. The table cloths etc can go in the kitchen pantry. I really hope this sytem works... our filing cabinet fitted perfectly in there too so I saw that as a good sign.
Hiya Karen... make sure you vent in here if you need to... we all know about feeling flat!
Better get back to it!
Oh and Rory: They said WHAT???? OMG (about "following" our dramas)... what thread was that? Don't worry... I know the feeling... I've stepped on a few toes outside of here too and had sleepless nights thinking I was going to be ostracized from BB forever! LOL
-
Bath, check out page 2 of the Sunrise Mothers Group - BF vs FF in the TV News and Current Affairs forum. Hoooooee! First time I've been engaged in a thread which got shut down. I ventured into the 60 minutes forum too for a laugh - it got shut down too!!
Amanda that is weird - I hate family intrigue like that.
Hello to everyone else too :)
Tired now - had a good sleep last night but then had to go into work for training on a new PC program we are using, then to the Law Institute for a meeting, then train home. It's pretty much the whole day gone - you know what its like when you have a kid and house to run. And there is no food in the house (well, nothing that can easily be made into lunch) so my next project is to get my food/menu planning back on track.
-
Hi Karen, glad your still around as we are here too - chat anytime, we are here!
Hi June Mummy, ditto!
Amanda - so weird about your dad? Maybe he needs to talk? Or to just feel needed? Geez.. if anything was wrong, we at BB would know about it! LOL
IK - what ultrasound? Did i miss something? With Oscars hips? .. sorry if I missed a post?
Simone - covers and snappy are in today's mail... you should have them by Monday at the latest. Yes, the fold looks tricky, it took me a few goes to work out - at first I thought OMG what IS this??? Now it is so easy I can do it in my sleep! Hope the rash clears up... Have you tried PawPaw onitment? My friend swears by it, both her kids had really really really bad nappy rashes.
Baths - what a productive day! You go girl!!!!
oh Rory - must go check out that thread! I agree about getting food back on track..have you tried home delivery? greengrocer.com.au is amazing...you can get great organic meats and vegies too.. We get the $30 organic box of fruit & veg which is AMAZING value, plus 1xlamb,1xchicken, 1x tofu, 1 x fish - so I just cook those things with the vegies from teh box, then one night is Mexican, one night is pasta, one night is homemade pizza ... there you go, dinner is done for the week. Easy! All delivered for $10. they deliver to Melbourne, I've checked it out! It does take about 2 hours to set up your list, but each week after that it only takes about 5 mins to re-order! Anyway, that is my tip for the day!
I was at Mothers group lunch for most of the day.. was really nice, had a great time. They have convinced me to go to swim class on Mondays (IK - don't say anything!!!! :-)
I'll see how we go.
Well that is all folks, chat tomorrow.
-
Well Girls, suitcases are just about packed- house is clean and everything is ready to go. I have even got the tickets and passports out and put them in my bag already.
It is still a bit surreal Icant believe that by this time tomorrow we will be sitting in another country........woohoo.
Bath- I jsut wanted to say that when I got Tori's passport done we had it back in about 10 working days- at the most.
Anyway best be off, got a few things I want to do before we go, I hope everyone has a great week and I will catch up when we get back next weekend.
-
Sorry, Cee Cee, no can do! Seriously, lots of fun :) I didn't know you surfed until that other post - I haven't surfed in 4 years, can't wait to get back to it. The maternal nurse last week was concerned that Oscar was stiff in his hips when she tried to rotate them (geez, if someone came and tried to rotate your limbs, you'd kind of stiffen up, too, if you had only just said hello and then been accosted!), so when I was at the GP I asked her. She wasn't worried but she sent us for an US just in case. However, just as I thought, there is nothing abnormal about his hips, they are just fine.
Rory - I referred to the threads you mentioned and OMG! The thing with Neeny and I never had an ounce of venom and these outsiders' opinions were really just subscribing to the nasty business that occurred quite outside of my issue with Neeny's post (on which we since have both positioned ourselves, sans derogatory remarks about anyone's feeding/parenting orientation). I got quite sad that you copped that and my heart went out for you even though there has been a bit of a time lapse between then and now. Just goes to show, though, us Junies have a pretty good level of understanding between us (for the most part, obviously our departees weren't quite there or they'd still be here :( ) that non-Junies (Junies being actual Junies or Junies-at-heart!) aren't well-positioned to comment on what goes on here. That doesn't mean we should try to invite trouble again! But we have proven to be able to weather it thus far. Perhaps the only thing we couldn't survive, IMO, would be a debate about Ford or Holden. Let's just not go there. For BB's sake! I looked at the 60 Mins thread and that is the kind of debate I didn't want to get into - it wasn't about explaining AP, rather there was defensiveness as well as judgement from non-AP'ers and not enough paying attention to those who were trying to sort through the myth and negativity that the program imparted. Recipe for a shut down! Glad we avoided that (I wonder how narrowly, though??).
Bath - marvellous. Now, can you come and get out my statements that I need for my tax return, please?!
Mothers Group was tedious today - well, the bit that followed the baby massage, anyway. The rest of the session was all about Feed Play Sleep routines, and a nice vid presented by Jennifer Keyte. Humph! Had it been an exam I would have failed! Upon leaving the centre, myself and another mummy were saying that we regularly let our babies fall asleep in our arms, on the boob etc. As for routine, I've posted elsewhere tonight on that, because today I realised that as much as I'm not doing routine, there is still a predictability and a structure to things for Oscar to feel comfy with. I realised that we use each others' cues to proceed with our day, and whilst our day is never the same (like, whose is, not matter how hard you try?), he follows a morning pattern and a bedtime pattern with me, even if the middle changes due to the nature of my activities during each day. He is a flexible kid but he knows what a bedtime is, no matter what time it actually occurs at. His other sleeps are good sleeps, but they are not bedtime sleeps, nor are they supposed to be in anyone's book. I'm pretty fixed in my fluidity :P
Simone - you're essentially looking for skin products that use no parabens, petrochemicals, sulfates or chemical emulsifiers (the things that make conditioners and moisturisers look 'nice' and blend together, because water - and most skin products are predominantly water - does not naturally mix with oil). This means sorbolene is out (works for a lot of people and for many it just doesn't), vaseline, sudocrem (as much as it works wonders for acne!) for sensitive or problem skins.
The nappy fold is easy after a few attempts - I used the laptop beside a pile of nappies, too! DP thought I was nuts...
Gotta cook a dinner (well, throw tortellini in a pot and 'make interesting' a jar sauce...)...
ETA: Ali, have a great time! Remember, Tori will remain hydrated if you keep your own fluids up and just follow her hungry cues, so you don't have to worry about feeding her water if it gets hot - use that bottled water for yourself :) JIC you were unsure of how to keep dehydration at bay while BFing, but you probably know anyway
(lots of people don't) :) Can't wait to take Oscar OS for the first time!!
-
He hee, IK, knew you had to comment!Glad Oscar is OK...
I'm hiding in the computer room which is also Ally's room as our new next door neighbours have invited themselves over - so I ran and told Matt to tell them that "now is not a good time as Cath is trying to put the baby down"... me bad? Just don't want to be friends with them... IYKWIM? he hee, love the baby excuse....
Ali - hope you have a great time... take LOTS of photos!
-
Hi everyone *enters forum wearing storm troopers outfit* hehe!
is it safe to enter???? Ohh Anikin is a great name for a pet!
Anyway was first day back at work and I've been up since 6.30am although Aleise woke at 5.30am but Matt fed her - don't you love it.. advantage of bottlefeeding! Of course expressing Breast milk into a bottle is just as effective and I think someone in here is doing that 'cause she's back at work too - cant' recall who it is.
Its taken me about 40 mins to update on posts. Nappies - I dont believe in creating more work for myself (its hard enough keeping house clean) so I'm not likely to use cloth ones. Aldi nappies work out to be 32c each (packet of 56 which lasts nearly 2 weeks) so that's good enough for me. I also read in a book/baby mag that if you take into account electricity, water and powder/detergent used in washing cloth nappies it isn't really that much of an environmental saver. Obviously the landfill issue is the big one with disposable but I also read somewhere there are biodegradable ones out now. Anyway in SE Qld we're about to go onto level 4 water restrictions and washing cloth nappies is a good way to send your water rates up! Level 4 is using buckets to water the garden on your nominated day (even or odd no houses) between certain hours only. We had to stop using the hose just after Aleise was born. Well some rain would be good 'cause our lawn is looking pretty much like the Sahara Desert!
Well its getting late - will write more later on. NIght all!
-
I've looked everywhere for snappies and cant find them... put a nappy on Anneliese today, just put a pilcher around it... It seems to work!! Hopefully now that i've done the initial outlay bit, nappy's should stop costing me so much... Thank goodness my 3yo only uses one a day (at night) my 19mo only uses about 3-4 a day (and i'm going to get him "aware" of the potty this summer, it cant hurt, i'm not going to push him, as i dont expect him to be toilet trained until next summer), but Anneliese was going through about 10-15 a day, as her nappy rash was so bad i had to continually change them... I dont care if i have to change them every 1/2 hour, now it'll be a bit cheaper and i'll not clogging up the landfill.
How much are the Aldi nappies? I use the Bilo ones on the boys, a pack of 72 10-15kg nappies costs $22.99 they are good, i've been using them for about a year now. (yes, they are identical to the coles ones, coles does a 48 pack for $12.99) Trying Anneliese on the Woolworthes Select ones at night, when i cant change her as much, the baby love nappies are awful, seem to aggrevate her nappy rash.
Checking out the threads abovementioned... How awful all these people attacking each other?
Today will be a quiet day... Bath, i wont be able to come in to meet up at Melb Central, as i have a house to clean.. DHS want to have a "protective planning" meeting. God knows why. Anyway, it means they will be withdrawing from the case, and leaving me alone. Not like there was anything to investigate anyway grr...
I feel so proud, i have learnt a new way to breastfeed Anneliese and hold her so ican still type two handed lol (instead of sitting down and watching TV while i bf, i generally jump on here, much better usage of my time :)
-
Yeah girls I just thought I'd let you know I've done a post & in no way does it point the finger to you girls... just the general feel of the forums over the last few days. I think you have all done a fantastic job in recovering from this & in the end it will make you a stronger group ;)
-
Hi girls!
Simone, bummer DHS are still bugging you. Still, maybe try to look at it as a way to get a free professional opinion on things, kinda like having a financial planner looking at your savings plan or something - you can take it or leave it, but you might find some nuggets that will help out. Personally, I always enjoy hearing others' views on childrearing because it helps DH and I thrash out what works for us. I am trying the woolworths select nappies too! Got mine from the Baby Expo, you too?
Nenny, there are biodegradable nappies - some which compost (but you need an 8 foot by 4 foot compost heap - not good for a suburban backyard!!) and others which break down in landfill. We were using the My Planet recycling service till it shut down last month so now I am stuck with a whole heap of huggies (My Planet recycled any brand of nappy, so we went with the "good" ones!) Once the huggies run out we will revert to the eco friendly ones until My Planet gets back on line.
BTW - I agree babylove nappies are awful! I use them for the morning poos, though:)
Feed-play-sleep - I think if I had a difficult bub I might be tempted to do this but Flynn is like Oscar - pretty adaptable and goes along with what we do. Like last night, he hadn't slept much after the excitement of going into the city on the train (he loves it - looking out the window, the people...) but we took him out to dinner with a friend. While BF him in the restaurant he bumped his head on the brick wall behind me - poor love. Didn't carry on though. Then back at the mates place we were listening to his new audiophile stero (quite loudly) at 9.30 at night and Flynn was just happily sitting on my lap. I said to DH he is pretty amazing - lack of sleep, bumped head, loud noise - and still no massive crying fit. We are just enjoying out luck while it lasts, cause we are fully aware that we probably won't have it so easy with the next one. We joke that the next one will be like Damien out of The Omen - LOL!!!
Ali I am jealous - I soooo want to go on a holiday!!
I love the "superpowers" T-shirt, too, IK - think I will get meself that one too!
Amanda, my mate's hubby is a fireman - how cool to have a firey for a dad (or mum, as in Oscar's case!) That way when kids ask what they do you can give em an answer they understand (instead of "I work in an office and help people solve legal problems" - HUH???)
Neeny, by any chance are you a starwars nut like me? Only ask cause of the stormtrooper reference - LOL!
Better go - off to Vic Market this morn with mum and friend (the one whose hubby is a fireman) and her little girl Charlie. Ceecee, I have though about online ordering but I love going to the market so much - I don't think I stand being away from the sensory experience of food buying - I love the colours and smells - it makes me feel like a TV chef walking around, hearing the vendors yelling "dolla, dolla, dolla bag" (LOL!)
-
Rory-lucky you going to vic markets, i love doing my vege shopping there, but i hate taking the pram. I might have to go on my own... We shoudl start a sat mornign shopping group, leave the men to the children and go relax and go shopping-i love food shopping, its so relaxing, just not with 3 children in tow lol
-
Simone, I am enjoying every minute of Flynn being immobile in his pram - I know my fantasy of being able to keep up the shopping at Vic Mkt once number 2 comes along is delusional!!!
-
Its not too bad with the toddler pram, mine's so easy to manovoure (sp?) its just the problem of going on days when there's lots of people with the same idea, and i cant get through... Thinking of trying that greengrocer online shopping, i'm going to start planning our meals again, since money is so tight...
My first day of clothies is going well, Even though all im doing is putting the nappy on-atm i dont have any snappies or pins, im just putting the cover over and fastening that, and it seems to be working fine! It's ok now, while Anneliese is immobile...
I've spent the morning cleaning for DHS, and just get a call... they wont be able to make it. They ALWAYS do this... well, at least my house is tidier!! And i did 3 loads of washing and put away 4 loads, im proud of myself. Currently got the laptop set up in my room, sitting on the bed cuddling Declan and Xander's sitting next to us, watching Labrynth (sp?) with David Bowie. They both love that movie (as does DH, a mad Bowie fan...
-
Morning girls, I'm just lurking, doing some baking (biscuits again for the weekend)... Wade is outside ATM thank God, am soo sick of hearing him say "can I have a biscuit?" over and over and over like a broken record... I don't know whether it is better to reply each time or ignore him or change the subject (what I used to do when kids did this when I was working with them)... none of these strategies seem to work today.. "can I have a biscuit?" (he just came inside because he saw me sit down at the 'pute... he has a knack of doing that too... *sigh*... better go deal... hey: good on you Simone for working so hard! Now you'll have a relaxing house for the weeknd :)
ETA: (He went outside as soon as I returned to the kitchen) hey I just discovered that if you don't have castor sugar you can make do with standard white (or raw) sugar buy using a mortar and pestle to grind it down a bit! It's worked perfectly! I should write into Women's weekly with that "handy hint" and win a prize LOL (I haven't read WW regualry for years... not since i was looked after by my nana... I used to read it from cover to cover LOL)
-
Bath, mum used to just chuck "normal" sugar in the blender and make up big batches of it, much cheaper :) Mum used to get up at 5am everyday and make cakes, muffins, biscuits... anything, for us to take to school (she couldnt afford all that pre-packed stuff, not with 6 of us!!)
Im baking fresh bread for lunch atm, will be a late lunch as i still have just over an hour left on baking the loaf...
When ever Xander's talking, if you dont reply to him, he will keep saying it over and over and over and over LOL
Still have a sink full of dishes, but told DH they're his, seeing as though he made the mess getting lunch readyf or work after i cooked dinner and did the dishes last night...
Thinking of making pasta with this rustic tomato sauce i got off Huey's Cooking Adventures, i changed it a little to suit our families' tastes, but it is sooooo yum, and easy. AND it contains wine, so its an excuse to open a bottle :)
-
What a great idea regarding the blender! We don't have one yet... I make do with a Bamix inherited from my MIL (since passed away)... I refuse to buy any appliance for the kitchen until we can afford top quality ones. Infact most of the stuff in the kitchen has been given to us as hand-me-downs. Lucky I know how to make do! I splashed out on a decent set of kitchen scales a few years ago (stainless steel Salter ones) and I just love using them... looking forward to buying a proper blender... need to do some research to find the best brand... Sunbeam used to be reliable but I think they have gone down hill over the past few years...
-
My mum told me how to 'make' castor sugar like that only the other weekend when she was down! How come I didn't know that before?? Not that I do any baking to have needed that little nugget. As it is, I'm struggling to tidy up the lounge and rug to be able to cut up my fabrics to get to my sewing caper...never mind clearing the kitchen to have baking space!
I'v decided I'll do Attachment Parenting with Oscar till the next one is born and then he goes into a cage in the backyard where Odin can mind him. All you mummies with more than one should do that too ;) Nah, you may not have earned the respect of your toddlers, but you have all of mine!!
Trying to palm Oscar off to DP so I can have a shower and wash my hair.
OH! Just got the Aldi catalogue for next week - family backyard pools for $99! Much cheaper than Clark Rubber and perfect for those of us who want to swim with our babies without always having to pack a pool bag and head out to the local :) Maybe I can tell me parents it would be a perfect Christmas present for Oscar, hmmm...there's an idea...cos DP is bellyaching about spending money, but it would pay for itself in petrol for beach drives and pool entry...going to work on him...
Planning to visit my pony later and try on this rug I got yesterday that DP sort of doesn't know about, but it was way cheaper than replacing the half a rug I found the other day that I had for 6 years...loyal customer price I got from a lady who repairs and makes rugs up the road!
ETA: Simone, I keep meaning to check from your signature how to spell Anneliese's name (cos the sigs don't come up when you do a 'post reply'), so I am SO sorry I have been spelling it wrong this whole time!
-
That's ok IK with unusual names you have to expect people to get them wrong sometimes!! Dont apologise, im not fussed (to be honest, most of the time i dont really notice!! LOL)
ETA I wouldnt mind a POOL FOR THE BACKYARD - DH and i've been looking at the ones from Kmart they're about $299 with the filters and everything, but you have to ask your council wherther or not your can fill them, with water restrictions... I'm used to living right beside the beach, this will be my first summer away from the beach :*(
-
Back from the market - what a saga!! First of all, just as we got to the entrance to the carpark I stupidly thought "lets look for a free disabled car parking spot" (I was with mum who has a sticker). But there weren't any available and by the time we went around the block back to the carpark and waiting to get in (20 mins!!) Flynn had gone from winging mildly to screaming hysterically for food. By which time it was already 11am - we were supposed to meet my GF at 10.30am. I asked mum to take the shopping trolley to meet her while I calmed and fed my hysterical boy, but my mum couldn't open the car boot (we have a station wagon) or work out how to put together the trolley (its not very hard - she just has no idea about anything slightly "mechanical" - she couln't work out how to release the bake on my pram, either!). Finally we met up, shopped and had snackies. But then Flynn started crying in the meat section (still hadn't had a proper feed) and walking back to the car it started raining. On the way home, Flynn was screaming so much he was gasping and sobbing (turns out he needed a big burp and fart) but it was such a stress for the poor little lamb - it's the first time he's been like that.
Home now and very tired - phew! I think I will unpack and hit the sack......
-
You're right rory... what a saga!! Im happy with not leaving the house most days, as just getting the kids dressed to go out is a saga!!! have a good nap :)
-
Oh, Rory, poor you and Flynn:hug: It's too ordinary a day to do anything else but recover from that experience - have a hot chocolate, I'm sure it improves the taste of breastmilk, so you will both benefit from it ;)
Oscar is in my shoulder sling and he threw up in his sleep - all fixed and he is still sleeping. He is too sweet to put down today, so I'm going to keep him there instead of palming him off to a container or bed :)
My little angel...today is 'gush about Oscar' day...again...
Neeny - I can't remember who else it was who was expressing for work, but I have heaps of expressed milk in the freezer for one day (hee, hee, still hasn't happened yet) that I leave Oscar for long enough for him to get hungry with DP. I might try next Tuesday, when I have an AGM (but I think I might just bring him with me). I intend to REALLY try to leave him (again, might change my mind last minute) for my union annual dinner in a few weeks' time...or I'm going to have to start throwing out frozen milk - well, give it to Odin anyway. Then again, I'm in a minority of mummies who hasn't felt the need to have my own time yet. I''m lucky, though, all the things I want to do are quite compatible with bringing Oscar, and if they're not, I've been squeezing him in anyway (association meeting a few weeks ago comes to mind...).
I'm determined to make the world (well, my world) baby friendly, to let other babies have a smoother path to follow once I've desensitised the uptight people who are stuck in their ways! Oh, and like Rory, the next baby might not be so portable...
Trying to find Christy's post on the forum...not having much luck, but I'm finding other topics of interest in my efforts!
-
which post are you looking for IK?
-
The one where she has some words about people posting in hot debates that she referred to. The mentioned it when she patted us on the back this morning ;)
-
Yeah I couldn't find Christy's post either...
PML at Odin raising Oscar when Number 2 comes along IK LOL I had this very funny image of him and Oscar in a dog house looking at each other with a look of confusion and hope LOL... but I'm sure it won't be the case, there's no doghouse is there ;)
Oh Rory... I agree... take a Bex and lie down... after a few of those sagas you will think twice about venturing out (sadly) like Simone says... and it gets worse when they are older and "choose" to cry and get upset (well that's how it seems... I know it's not the case.... but with my 12yo I wonder... LOL)
Well I would just like it known and acknowledged that I've just finished cleaning my oven. Yep, amazing but true. I sprayed on the "Easy Off" last night and have just finished wiping and rinsing it out. If I didn't mention it on here there wouldn't be a soul who would notice. It's like a tree that falls in a forest... if nobody saw it... did it really fall at all? (or however the saying goes... i can never quite remember).
Also, whilst I was feeding Niall I was almost hypnotised by the BooBahs as I tried to notice the subtle differences in dancing style during their repetitive performances. I think the blue one has issues... Jumbah I believe... has a latent desire to break-out and cut loose. No doubt we'll be reading about it in MX one day...
ETA:You're probably wondering how I managed to bake those biscuits this morning if there was "Easy Off" in there... I have to admit I only cleaned the top oven, we have a double decker one (which is fantastic BTW... I baked in the bottom one)... I just thought I'd better clarify that as the likes of Rory would have noticed the inconsistency immediately... not to mention all you other clever chicks :)
-
LOL about Boobah!!!
Christy's post is a sticky in general chatter. Gotta go pick up DH - he's been working with a mate chopping trees today But I don't want to get the lamb out of bed :( Lucky he is in his sleep suit....
-
PMSL, those boobah's are freaky... i agree you'd prolly read about it in MX, they have all sorts of cr@p in that paper...
Anneliese has survived her first day in clothies - her nappy rash is almost gone!! This morning it was red, scaly and weepy. I know what ill be sticking with!! Mind you, she's had about 6 changes since about 10am, but luckily no poos, so they'll be easy to clean :)
-
Yay! Go Anneliese in her clothies!
I've spent all arvo cruising the forum...it's been so long since I've done that. Time to tidy the house now...
I found Christy's post and and I like it a lot.
I have no idea what you guys are talking about - Boobahs?? Is this a TV thing?
No, Bath, there's no doghouse (very funky kennel DP built, but nothing that closes over!), but there is always under the house...hee hee!
Good one on the oven, BTW.
DP's about to light the fire - about time! Oscar has been asleep this whole time, so if he wakes up when I try to put him down now, I'll chuck him in the HAB to vacuum and tidy up.
Must also put out some nappies - I like my new terries, but I like the coloured ones a lot more and they're all wet in the basket...
My word, that's a southerly blowing out there...maybe I should have rugged my horse!
-
the Boobah's are on ABC kids in the morning... i put all the kids in front of it to tidy in the mornings (and have a quick surf of BB). Even Anneliese loves ABC Kids, they have some great (although strange) programs on there sometimes...
-
I had a great afternoon this arvo, got home from picking Kailen up from school and they sat and watched Hi-5, Cody and I went outside, Cody was in the pram and I hung out the clothes then sat down and had a good chat and a relax away from the older boys, was really nice just sitting down with out them nagging at me.
Simone yay for Anneliese, hope both you and her are enjoying the clothies, also I got your email but there wasn't any attachment for the piccys.
IK can you please send the link for the pics please.
Well I finished paying for my Chrisco last week and I got my new catalouge the other day, I get so excited cause I know that Christmas isn't far away, and my Chrisco delivery is even closer, woo hoo.
Ok going to do another load of washing.
hugs xoxo
-
Thanks Simone!
Just when I thought DP was going to light a fire for us, he's off to the fire station, grrr. Well, I hope he's warm there...cos I'm not!
-
IK could you please send the gas training pics to amanda... :)
Im about to turn my heater on, not that it'll ,ake much differemce to me, im heading out shopping soon. must find an Oaks Day outfit!! I want a white suit and a big hat :)
-
Hi ladies
Is it winter in vic or what????
We have our local show here tomorrow and hopefully it doesn't rain during it because that really wrecks it!We also have our little towns annual festival throughout next week which culminates on Saturday with a parade and a traders mall and then on Sunday we have a market in our park, so if you feel up for a drive then head up my way next weekend and we can have a bit of fun!
ETA: I knew I wanted to mention something, did anyone see the story about the black and white twins? One baby is black and the other is white and they are true twins. My aunts and I saw the story on one of the US news shows.
-
Hi all,
what a day!
Jess: yeah, I saw the b&w twins on SBS just now... they acutally said it should happen more as only 10 of like 3 billion strands of DNA relate to skin colour. but it was pretty cool!
Rory - sorry about your day... now do you understand why I do the home delivery? I still do a real shop, but just to the local green grocer or local IGA when Ally can handle it
Simone - your snappy is in the mail, shame it is Friday, but you should get it in Monday's post.
Amanda - yeah, when do you get your box of chriso goodies?
Baths -
:
take a Bex and lie down
LOL - I bet some of the girls here don't even know what you mean! I'm pretty sure they are illegal now - cause kidney failure!.
IK = those pools are UNREAL, we had one for 2 years, cost $300 but well worth it! Nice to see them under $100 now. May have to go check them out! Interesting about water restriction though.. may ring Council first?
So, today I went to visit a friend who is having trouble with her 3 week old - poor thing, her DH works really long hours and next week is going to China, she is struggeling... her baby was soooooo tiny I felt a little lost as to how to help as Ally was never that tiny... all I could do is tell her she is doing a great job, she has heaps of milk, her baby is sucking, ect... she told me she was going to give up BF today but I made her change her mind... How nice is that. She does really want to BF, she was just too unsure of herself - like most of us were I guess..
(NOTE: of course I told her that it is OK to FF - you all know I beleive in BF but belive that the Mothers health is more important so if she was too stressed to BF then I would have helped her FF) . But at the end of the day she was BF and happy, so it was a good day!

Jess - you getting that blast, too? End of October and the fire is on...I suppose it is still spring! I hope the weather turns around for the festivities in your area - you can't have a rained out agi show, NOOOOOOOOOOOOO! Those beautifully presented ponies and cattle will be so put out :(
Yep, I saw the story about the twins on the Age website. How cool is that? Talk about testing assumptions! Those two are going to be so aware and sensitive to prejudice, I hope they are constructive with it. There is no reason it should disadvantage either of them, and I see it as a really, really cool thing :) Then again, my sister is fairer than I am and my dad is a white Irish dude, so I WOULD think that!
Good one, Cee Cee! You could be an ABA counsellor ;) Seriously, that was a beautiful thing you did - you can take credit for her beautiful child's health and general start to life :) Anyway, you brought a tear of emotion to my eye just now with what you posted. You're a good egg!
Hmmm, yes, water restrictions for these pools - they are about 5000 litres apparently (finding it hard to believe that's more water capacity than the average tanker in a fire station!), so there may be a need to gain permits. Don't think it would require special fencing, though...need to check that, too. I told my dad to tell my mum that it would make a good Christmas present to us as a family cos she always spends too much money and this way would work out to about $30 odd each. Prefer this to extravagant pressies, especially as DP has decided ALL her gifts are an attempt to buy redemption. This is not the case, but I can see where this belief comes from, as mistaken as it is.
OMG, I have really flexed some cerebral muscle today in another thread I started - it's taking me back to my undergrad, only had I been able to articulate myself like that back then my academic transcript wouldn't read like such a dog's breakfast! It's good to take part in such conversations to explore my ideas and theories about the world. I like to theorise, and I realise that this may come as a big shock to you all...hee, hee!

Umm, since when have I been a teenrager? Last I remember I was still a kidlet, wondering at what point one becomes a teenrager!

IK thanks for the piccys they loved them and so did i actually, they looked awesome.
Well I've been inspired by one of the threads in the recipe section, I've decided that I'm going to make home made gift baskets this year with some yummy goodies in it. I still haven't decided how I'm going to go about it and what exactly is going into them but I'm excited :confetti:.
I've been so tired lately Wyatt's taken to waking up before 5am and as I'm alread up at 4am to feed Cody I'm sooo tired and he's sooo cranky all the time, I'm getting frustrated and annoyed but what can I do, hopefully this phase will pass soon.
Jaspen did u take any pics of Ben's cake? if you did can you send and email I would love to have a look.
Better go the boy is wanting a feed now and won't wait any longer.
ETA CeeCee sorry forgot to say that I haven't got my letter to tell me when it will be delivered yet, but I can't wait.
hugs xoxo

amanda what a great idea... can I give you some ideas as to what I would do: preserved lemons - (so easy and cheap and look great!),
homemade salad dressing (everyone loves my salad dressing)
caramilised popcorn (cheap and bag filler and kids love them)
biscotte - lasts for ages and is pretty darn yummy
All these things last for a long time and are pretty affordable. Let me know if you want any recipes and I will email you.
IK - yes, it was a very rewarding day - poor thing just needed confidence.... anyway...heres to all the new Mums out there learning how to take care of their babies!
Good for you for using your brain - mine is still in hibernation!
Baths- had a dream about you last night? Can't remember it for the life of me now..? Maybe about the bex? brought back so many memorises of my childhood.
well, i'm having a friend over for a BBQ so better go clean the courtyard... will put up some before and after photos of my yard tomorrow as I'm VERY impressed with my design skills, in just 1.5 years I've taken the garden from weed city to a lush ,tropical, exotic, retreat... (geez.. I can talk myself up can't I!) LOL

Thanks CeeCee I'll grab those recipes thanks for the suggestions, I'm just overly excited to be doing this, this year.

IK: not sure at what point one becomes a Teenrager... I'm over it personally LOL Looking forward to becoming an adult.
CeeCee: LOL yeah... "B - E - X" spells Bex" ads were still on the radio during my 1970's childhood... I'm sure most BB members wouldn't have a clue what I'm talking about. What were they exactly? My mother didn't take them (they were 'powders' I think) perhaps high dose aspirin? I should look it up on Google. Good work regarding helping your friend :) I'm sure things will settle down if the BFing is fine attachment wise... I'm sure she will thank you! Regarding her husband going away... that's tough! It's probably at the root of her anxiety.
Regarding overseas trips: Recently found out the NZ trip is for 5 days... too long to be away from Wade... also the trip includes a lot of "thrilling" activities like white water rafting etc and champagne & chicken breakfast cruises that won't be family friendly even with just Niall... so it looks like we won't be going after all :( Unless the bank fund Wade and Verity's participation and let Darren off the hook regaidng those activites (he's not one for stuff like Bungee jumping either). So that's disappointing... however as he has friends in high places he might be able to wrangle the modifications to his itinery but we're not holding our breathe. We would have been staying mainly in Queenstown too BTW... DH has been there before and says it's totally gorgeous. *sigh* Still, DH also told me that we CAN afford to go to SeaWorld Nara resort!!! (I'm easily pleased... most people would think it's a poor substitute!) because his bonus is $18,000 and he will be receiving a permanent payrise of ten grand p.a!!! OMG! That clears our credit debt and funds Verity's education for 2007... I'm soooo happy (and relieved) I could cry!
Speaking of being teary, have all your little bubbas become noticibily more cute over the past weeks or so? Niall's personality has really started to emerge and he has a very funny little sense of humour and that Irish twinkle in his eye that he gets from his dad... he's going to be a real character. Well that's my gush... it always brings a smile to my face when I read my Junie's baby gushes... let's not feel self conscious about it! :)

Bath, Cody has really start to come in his own to, he looks a you when he thinks your not looking and has a big smile, he's also more cuddly and loves to have a cuddle, he also loves his feet been played with. He sucks his fingers like no tomrrow and when we take them out and put his dummy in you can see him smile behind it then he spits it out. Ok I'll shut up for now or I'll get all soppy.
When will you be coming up to Seaworld we'll have to organise a meet if you like with Neeny and myself and maybe Jo.
hugs xoxo
