Julie, you should know better than that...there is no silliness in this thread ;)
Tali - I'll ask Bec! I'll tell her you're living it up in sunny QLD! She's absolutely turned out ok - newly renovated house, great kids (the boys are lovely and polite), and You have such a pretty name :) My chosen girl name has a similar ring to it...just gotta have a girl baby now...
Nic - I was wondering how you were getting on! I hope Oscar doesn't get infected with Wiggle-mania, but I guess we'd need to watch TV for that...so far, so good!
-
Ohhh Ik the wiggles are cool, .....he's missing out, lol.;)
Although in all seriousness and in general people don't give anough credit to media literacy. It is still seen as taboo when it comes to child development. It is actually very important for our children of today and the future they need to be exposed to all forms of media literacy as for them that is what the world is all about. Wiggles, Hi 5, hooley dooley's and dora play an important role in children's learning and development. Wow I learnt alot this semester, lol. I learnt that television is okay and is actually an important learning device for our children.
-
Kelly is making an announcement NOW... check your inboxes!
-
Nah, one day we'll get round to turning on the TV. It's not a restriction we place on Oscar, we just don't seem to turn it on for doing other things around here! I noticed I stopped watching TV when I got into horse riding competitively, years ago.
-
ohhh how cool, see you in there
-
Just wanted to say Hi.. I read most daysbut don't post since I am at work.. Wish I could log into the chat room .. oh well.. I was wondering how teh wiggles would be was thinking of going in dec but decided Caitlyn would be to young - we watch it occasionaly but she doesn't sit still to watch TV... (so not my daughter)..
Guess I better get back to work .... Big hi to everyone...
-
Bath can u tell me what it is! Im at work and cannot check my home emails....
Hi Emma! hwat a cute piccy on your ticker hehe.
Well my take on it was Nixon was too little, i only went cause my sister asked me, and my mum also went so had a helper! I wont be taking bub2 before he is about 2yrs old i rekon. Nixon does not watch tele all the time but he definatley loves the wiggles, tell him its coming on he gets excited, sits still for maybe 10-15min of it starting.then decides he has had enough and starts doing other stuff.
oh i thought i uploaded it but havent yet, i took a pic of Nixon lying on his lounge watching the wiggles, drinking his milk a few days ago. V funny pic i title it "typical male" instead of watching footy drinking beer he's watching wiggles drinking milk on his fav couch!
-
Nickers it LIVE CHAT yaaaaaay
Hi Emma, great to see you about
-
Dee when did u change your name i just noticed!

-
About an hour ago Nickers, it suits me better.
I voted for it too Nick, so glad I did
-
I finally made it into the chat room... weirdo! hehe Haven't done that kinda thing since 1999!
Julie: will work on your av again after dinner.
Amanda: I hope Kat loads yours up soon! (I made an av for amanda months ago... so excited to finally see it in here... it's a goodun! keep an eye out for it!)
Better think about dinner before Niall wakes up from his nap...
-
cool Bath - can't wait to see the finished one - the draft one was fab
Julie

-
Cool Bath does it have Tat's, lol
How cool is the new chatroom, so good to see you guys in there.
-
I can't sign into the chat room, I need some help.
Yeah Bath I can't wait for my Av either, I've been checking periodiclly (sp) I'm soo excited.
hugs xoxo
-
Amanda you need to create an account first then they send you a confirmation number and then you can enter.
-
Tat's? Actually yes, if you look closely at Amanda's av you will see a small tat on her chest ;) I'm refreshing alot to see if it's been loaded too Amanda! LOL
ETA: i struggled to get in there too Amanda... at what stage are you at? What have you done so far?
-
It's alright I've done it now, but now we're going food shopping. BBL.
hugs xoxo
-
Tali - i take my hat off to SAHM's. I work at a university doing administration and absolutely love it! I work out of both necessity and enjoyment, I think I would go stir crazy being home all day lol!! When I am home, I cherish the time with them and can't wait to get home and see them. Maybe if we try for #3, working may not be an option as childcare is expensive.
7th - just noticed your name change too! Can I still call you 7th otherwise I will get you mixed up with other Dee lol!
Nic - I took Chelsea to her first concert at about 18mths. It was a local one for Play School which I think are much better than the big ones like Wiggles etc. Tickets are about $10 and they usually run them at community centres etc and kids can just crawl around, there are no seats, you just sit on the floor. The usually have them for Play School, Hooley Dooleys, Fairies etc. Maybe check out your Sydneys Child etc for some. I am sure he'll appreciate the big concerts once hes older. Just checked out his pics, boy is he getting so big. Looks like a real toddler now and his haircut looks gorgeous. I still think he and Marley make a cute couple lol!!!
Bath - I did get your PM but as my pop ups were blocked it didn't appear, then I unblocked them and it didn't come up! Might have to try it again. So cool about the memberships, I will definately be getting one and you will definately do my avatar. I wouldn't want anyone else to do it!
How exciting about the chat rooms. Haven't been to try it yet but it will be addictive! I spend many nights on messenger chatting to my GF's in Japan and the US. It will be so nice to chat to you girls live!!!
Had a lovely day today. Went over to have lunch with another BB friend who is due in 4 days. I was kinda hoping she went into labour today!!! Chelsea and her son played for ages and they get along very well. Marley still a bit snotty so she stayed home with DH. I am super organised tonight, I have all my work clothes sorted (and its going to be a freezing 12 tomorrow with wind and rain - great!), Chelsea's kinder clothes ready for DH, umbrella ready at the door, petrol in the car. Definately leaving earlier tomorrow and see if I can get to work on time.
Hi to Amanda, Emishka, Julie, Rory, IK and anyone else I missed!
Off to check out chat rooms!
-
Nic - Hi, I'm sure Rae would still be interested in a catch up, i still have to go visit her to meet little Tia! Chloe hasn't been well so didn't want to risk her passing anything on to her or Ella.So when i finally get over there I'll ask her and get her to let you know. Nah, don't know Fletch, haven't been on here long enough or often enough to get to know ppl yet. Hope your Dad's brithday lunch went well, I'm sure he would have been really suprised!
State of Origin back on so I'm off to watch it - love my footy. Take care all xx
-
Oh yes Mandy - go the Maroons!
Its the one bugger about being in Perth is the time difference to everywhere else as we don't get state of origin until 10.30pm (don't know why when it starts at 6pm our time) and also the BB chat room will be closed at night by the time i get on here after putting the kids down.
Mel - glad you had a nice lunch with your friend
Cool-dee - great new name! (hope other dee doesn't get offended if i call you cool dee and her dee!)
Julie x
-
Amanda that is an excellent Avatar, well done Bath, great job.
Name change,
well it's well overdue, I'm coolabahdee everywhere except in here and the 7th heaven name was really starting to grate on me:doh:, lol, I know other's don't use their names and thats cool but my name is Dee, that's what everyone calls me, my actual name is Deidree, I was Dee Dee as a baby and small child and as I grew older I dropped a Dee, no one who knows me calls me Deidree. lol. I made up my chat name years and years ago, I think it suits me better, There were two other girls named Dee, on an Aussie DeeAussie and the other was Dee, so I wanted an aussie sounding name, so out of Coolabah Tree Coolabahdee was hatched. Some call me cool others call me Dee, I like both.
Please don't be offended or take it the wrong way but I prefer Dee, but don't mind Cool or cool dee:D. I'm already called Dee alot in here anyway and I end nearly every post with Dee so it won't be a hard transistion, lol.;)
Well what am I doing up at this ungodly hour, hmmm I've been asking Nathan and Melissa that very Question. I'm in bed and I have Nathan on the boob and am typing single hand style. He's now asleep as is Lissa so I'm off back to sleep, see you tomorrow Amanda.
Talk soon lovely ladies
Ta
Dee
P.S Good on you girls for upgrading, can't wait for your avatar Julie....
ETA OMG What a terrible night....................
-
Oh, Dee - I take it your ETA "horrible night" was added at 2.44am - hope it wasn't anything too long lasting!! LOL I remember seeing your new name on the other Junies forum and didn't get it, but now I do! Makes me think of waltzing matilda - I used to sing that to Flynn when I ran out of nursery rhymes!
Commisertations Julie on the rugby - I heard the maroons lost :(. But in that case congrats to our NSW Junies ;)
Howdy new members, and Emishka, nice to see you in here!
Amanda, love the new AV!!
ETA: On the SAHM thing, I am like you Mel, I love working and being with Flynn - it is so nice to have the "best of both worlds" and I think I would hate my life if I was forced to chose one or the other. I just have to be careful vocalising that at home - DH is a SAHD at the moment so I don't want to say anything negative about the Many Joys of Childrearing LOL!!
better go - at work today
-
Lol Rory, I loved the balance of working part time and being at home. Now was it your DH that was in the late stages of joining the Fire Brigade, how's all that going,if it is you I'm thinking of, lol
The fuzzy brain this morning is because I had a horrible night. Rory, I posted at 2.44 am and the Eta was added when I had to get up at 6.55am, not overly early, but when you've been up half the night, it's almost impossible. Makayla ended up coming in a 4am and waking me to tell me she doesn't feel well. I had to take a very deep breathe before speaking,I was so ready to cry. My sister from Perth kept me on the phone till after midnight and then told me ohh it's getting late I want to be in bed by midnight. I was like, what about me, I was in bed when you called at 10.30 pm.
TOY SALE
I'm not doing the toy sale thing this year, I sent Michael in last year and they ended up having an equally good sale on in September. The kids are getting a swing set from toy world and a PS3 which Michael will bring back with him from over there this year with some stocking fillers. We are having a huge family Christmas/family reunuion/50th wedding anniversary, with Michaels family and I ordered Chrisco to try and absorb some of the burden. Out of the 7 families only three are paying for it, including us as the rest will struggle to even get here. It will be heaps of fun but.
STATE OF ORIGIN
I do love my footy but I didn't bother to watch it last night. I figured we won the series anyway so why miss my other shows when this game didn't really mean anything.;)
Yay for QLD winning the State of Origin:confetti:
-
Dee, I wish DH was in the late stages of his application - he is actually in the real early stages, in that he passed the written test. He still has the group interview, psych testing and aptitude/fitness tests to go. The aptitude test should be ok - he is very mechanical minded and fit but the interviews and psych stuff will be the harder part. Not that he is a psycho LOL - just that is the bit you can't train for.
Hope you get some sleep today :)
-
Ohhhhh, okwell good luck to him.
No sleep today, lol anyway I heard it was really over rated.;) I'm off to the park with Amanda and her tribe today. Speaking of which, it's time for me to get a move on.
-
The psych test is the hardest part for all emergency service career staff! I think it might actually be the hardest for ambos. Good luck to your DH, Rory!
I'm STILL umming and ahhhing about a new name - since I first chose my username whilst under the pump to think of something! One of these days I'll reappear with a new name. I like Coolahbadee - I liked the play on Coolahbatree when I first saw it, so I was on the right track!
DP woke Oscar up early again (he reckons 8.30-9 isn't early...it is for us!). Oscar has lost a lot of his voice, but is happy enough.
Better go again, got a boy in my lap...
-
Well didn't get out of the house as poor Amanda couldn't make it, her car is broken:(. Hope it's fixed soon Amanda. Probably a good thing anyway the wind outside is gale force. The sky is so blue, the sun is so warm and the wind would just about whip right through you.
I'm just about to put these girlies down and bring the boy in with me as I think I might just get to have an Arvo nap, I'm soooo tired.
Isn't the revamping of the site great, the live chat is so cool, I haven't had a live chat with anyone in sooooo long. Nice change and look at all the new Platinum members. Can't wait to see your avatars girls. Amanda your'se is awesome.
-
Bugger, Amanda!
We walked down to the park on the nearby corner and had a great time. Just Oscar and I. He did heaps of climbing, I stuck him on my back and we did the flying fox (my pecs are gonna hurt tomorrow!), then I let him climb up by himself, make his way through the tunnel, decide to go up the stairs instead of choosing the lower, shorter slide, then called out 'safe safe' (swimming technique that works everywhere else for getting him to go down feet first off anything) and he slid down the big, twisty slide on his belly. He did that twice and was so chuffed! Pity it was just me, I couldn't take photos - when he's climbing I have to be there as his spotter! It did the trick, though, got back, he whinged, I stuck a booby in his mouth and now he's asleep.
Got dishes to do now and a study to tidy up, a TV to move into Oscar's room (it just doesn't get watched enough to deserve to be in the loungeroom! A friend yesterday asked if we even had a TV (she had been at my place the day before for the whole arvo) and was impressed that it wasn't a focal point of our house. Unintended, but now it's gonna be even further away. I tend to subscribe to Bath's thoughts on screens from TV and computer and that it has a negative effect on brainwaves.
That said, I'm going to get away from this screen and get some dishes done and lunch eaten!
-
Julie: Made the alterations as requested to avatar :) have sent it off to AstroLady so she can upload... hopefully very soon!
Amanda: Yay! (Avatar) Boo! (car)
-
Your so clever Bath, are you making Ik's one too?
-
Can't wait - thanks so much Bath. Amanda's is great too (sorry to here about your car Amanda, what a pita).
IK - like the 'safe, safe' idea - that sounds good - might have to try that with Will. That hasn't been mentioned in our swimming lessons. Can't say i watch much tv now since i discovered BB!!!! (apart from Sunday night - gotta have my trashy girly night with ugly betty and Grey's).
Boys are being pleasant today - went to the library for story time and they were both well behaved and Oscar really enjoyed the singing and craft bit. Will finally started clapping on Saturday and now he gives himself a round of applause for anything and everything - so funny!
Julie x
-
Rory - sorry babe, I must have missed the part about DH passing his first tests for MFB. Well done to him. He'll shoe in the others.
Amanda - avatar looks awesome! Bath, brilliant job. Love the lovehearts behind you, they look so cute. Bugger about car not working, hope it gets fixed soon.
Dee - I managed to get it right! No offence taken and I will make sure I use Dee from now on. How has your day turned out after a sleep deprived night?
IK - you did well getting out of the house today, looks so blowy and cold outside!
I tend to subscribe to Bath's thoughts on screens from TV and computer and that it has a negative effect on brainwaves - I must be so totally braindead by now with all the TV is watch LOL!!!!
Julie - love the clapping! Marley is right into it and claps at anyone and anything. People say hello to her and she starts clapping!!! They look so cute doing it. You won't be able to stop Will doing it now. Can't wait to see your av.
Well a quick post while I am at work, I feel so naughty doing it LOL!!! Another good day, got lots of cleaning done today. My replacement has been finalising some work and I am happy to let her finish up stuff, then hand over to me. I have decided to clean up everything and anything I can find so when I do take over, I have a lovely clean start. Only took me 35 mins to get to work this morning so I was very pleased, hope its a nice quick one home too. Must go, nearly time to go home!!!
-
Ah, Mel - your brain seems fine to me! I subscribe to it because I have seen the difference it has made to the vibe here since we just dropped off programs, bit by bit till nothing was watched at all. For us, it works really well and it wasn't even a conscious decision, and that's why we don't miss it. When we spend too much time in front of the computer I notice the difference, though - it seems to suck our life force!
-
Dee- oh u missed a cracker of a game last night! was the best of the series and not just cause NSW won! well partly cause they won but it was just a great game.
Toy sale- i got it good this yr, my sister and her gf went to kmart at midnight last night, i had circled what i wanted and just said whatever u get u get, she end up getting all but one of the things i circled and put it all on layby. She didnt get home till 4am thismorning...... i had no intentions of going so was pretty lucky she went and got all the stuff for me!
amanda- love your avater looks awesome! hope your car is fixed soon too
-
Can't talk long, my computer's hard drive has gone bang so can only talk very quickly.
Pat now weighs 9.240kg.
-
Hiya Jess :)
Have been busy working on another avatar...
Leaving for Castlemaine tomorrow morning for the weekend. See y'all Monday :)
-
Have a great weekend away Bath
Hi Jess - hope your computers fixed soon
Nic - yay on getting all the toys you wanted in the sales.
Julie x
-
Have a lovely time up there, Bath! I still have never been - one of these days I'll get us up there for a couple of nights. A break will do you good! No computers, no avatars, your eyes will thank you...
Jess - I wish Oscar weighed more like Pat!
Mel - How is it that on the day there's a major accident on the freeway, you get a dream run, and on a normal weekday morning, it takes you forever? Murphy's Law, I suppose! It wasn't that blowy when I went out - it was cold, but I had on a new op-shop jumper and a neckwarmer (actually I wore it as a headscarf!), so I was ok. The little valley we are in is also a bit more protected, unless it's a northerly...they come straight down off the mountain at Ferny Creek!
Julie - Oscar just started clapping recently, too - I thought he'd never do it. Library time thing is good, though I've only been to two (just keep forgetting), and Oscar doesn't sit still. Can't wait to see your avatar!
Speaking of which, sorry I didn't answer your question, Dee - when you posted about me getting an av, I was still trying to sort out the 'glitch' and didn't want to post back saying "it's a mistake, I haven't got Platinum yet and won't be getting an av". So, yes, I'm getting an av. And it's a surprise :P
SAHM question - forget now who asked this. I'm at home, not working, studying from home, too. I'm due to go back to my casual job at the end of the month and have forgotten to send my resignation letter this week! It's not worth going back on many levels, mostly to do with the changed and battered morale there since new owners took over last year. It's a shame, they used to be such a good employer, was a joy to work for them in the past.
I'm getting together with my guitarist friend next week, for the first time in ages. Who knows, maybe I make a buck from doing that again later this year. I know my voice is rocking out, but only Oscar and the neighbours get to hear it! I think it's all this baby talk, it's got some brand new registers, and strengthened others that used to be weak! Sounds like I'm full of myself, but I took to the singing a bit later in life and spent a lot of the time before that thinking "I know I can sing, but I musn't be very good", just out of habit of playing myself down. I also got sick of saying "yeah, but I'm not that great' when people found out I sang...it's a downer for everyone around the conversation to hear that, so now I just say "Yeah, I'm all right!". Someone's gotta be positive!
OK, take two of going to bed...
-
Woo Hoo!! New username!
I have had a bittersweet day with my sister and my mum...too long to go into, suffice to say that had they taken my recommendation to take the train and tram into Brunswick St we would have avoided a parking ticket (ouch!) and my unsettled niece who had to wait till we were off the freeway to settle. Especially after my exhortations to use public transport, the fine will not be paid by myself. But the two princesses had to be driven in. Don't worry about carbon emissions, as long as the two of them didnt have to share space with commuters, all is well. Vent over.
Oscar was really good and even had a sleep. He's getting better and isn't as snotty anymore.
Mel - how does it feel to be at the end of your first week back at work?
Amanda - is your car fixed?
Dee - how are the kids going on their holidays? Climbing walls yet?
Emishka - sorry, I meant to say hi when you dropped in last time!
Nic - how's the rental search going? I know it's a lot of moving, and one of those moves to save peace of mind could be a real saver for your wellbeing!
Heading down to the Peninsula tomorrow for an overnight at a friend's, very much looking forward to catching up with her. She's an ace cook, too, and they are into wines, so I think we'll be looked after ;)
Terrible news from today's foray into Brunswick St...I lost one of my Lancome Juicy Tubes down the toilet! I was devastated, I take them everywhere with me and each one is like a little child to me...ok, so that's taking it a bit further, but I could have cried as it was my favourite one. The only consolation is that I was having to squeeze it a bit extra to get gloss out of it, so it was near the end of its dutiful service to me. My sister thinks it's funny. How cruel!
Better go think about what to eat for dinner...
ETA: the new username came about from a conversation I had with someone whose opinion I value highly, when talking about my heritage and wanting to incorporate my 'Mayanness' (Maya from Honduras in Central America) into my life, at least for Oscar's benefit. She liked the sound of it and a new username was born. So, it was accidental, but there it is!
