Babies Born in June 2006 #9

IK – I bet Dante loves the extra loving! As for it being sad for mum, not really. She never had that connection with them I dd. I got all his ribbons & pictures & put them in a box and packed it away. I’ll open it again one day, but not for a while. Maybe never. Just have his memory safely there. My Farrier was the same, always understanding. The good thing was my horses trusted him so much if I couldn’t make our appointment he could just do everything without me. Doubt I’d find someone that great here in the ACT. Also, why do people act irresponsibly with their dogs??? I took Mug & Ryan for a walk today, Ryan in the Bjorn than he loves. Mug is very well trained to hand & voice control but if there are small dogs about I put him on the leash. Just because of his sheer size, if he plays to energetically he might hurt a little dog and I would feel terrible!!! Anyway we were walking and I put him back on the leash due to a little dog terrier of some form, nothing that I recognised, and it just ran up to mug and started barking & growling and the owner DID NOTHING!!!!! I was so mad. What if Mug had gotten protective and snapped at it?? It would barely have been a mouthful!!!!!!! Mad mad mad!!! And as for fortnightly shopping, really works for us. And as we get all our fruit, veg & meat at the markets, we save there too 

Bath – I can’t wait to hear about the birthday party  I’m already looking forward to throwing Ryan a 1st birthday party  Simply because he has lots of older cousins that can play & stuff  I think it’s great idea letting Verity have friends there and “using” them  I would do exactly the same!! I do agree I think working will be easier than spending all day with Ryan but at the same time I think it will be hard to spend all that time away from him!!! But for us it is a necessary evil as I have said before! Gosh you have such a helpful daughter!!!!

Cee Cee – I used to make personal stuff for all my friends but I have been learning the hard way recently that they don’t do anything for me in return!!! Not that I think they should, but it just seems like I’m always give give give IYKWIM? I was even cooking for their party while I was in labour with Ryan!!! But I am starting to realise I love cooking!!! I even bake my own bread!!!! I think the voucher etc is an awesome idea for your friend!!! I wish I lived in Sydney!!! Sounds like your dog had a ball 

Amanda – Good luck with the party at your house too!!!! Poor Kailen. What exactly is he having done? Gromets? You’ve probably said before but my brain sucks! I hope they sort their carp out soon and help the poor little mite!

Ali – Nothing yet. I’ll know about the court job by the end of this week and my other interview is next week  I didn’t know AF could affect things like that. Gosh you BFing mums are amazing!!! You all go through so much, I think you’re all champions!!


Nic – Your new glasses sound nice. What prompt service!!!! That might explain why my eyes seem worse. I guess I better head to the optometrist!

Gabysmum – I’m glad you are all happier, even though I only fed for a short time, it is a bloody hard decision and a lot of people can make you feel like a failure for it!!! I’m glad you’re happy with your decision though! I think shopping is a good outing. Ryan loves getting out and about where he can chat up the shop chics :)


Me – Well for anyone that remembered, I was in the process of officialising my divorce from my ex and… it goes through tomorrow. Just a little yay from me.

ETA - forgot to say that there are new photos from today on the WWW :)

Candy: Just checked out Ryan's new piccys :) Lookin' good there! He's actually very similar to Niall, or maybe it's just the kind of expressions and poses... It's great you've taken so many... I find it hard to get the time... and I MUST remember to get some of ours printed out on photo paper! Imagine if we lost them all because our 'pute died! So far they are all digital. Poor Wade hasn't had many taken of him lately.... there's heaps of Verity at his age... better try to do something about that. Yeah, Verity is a great help... she's the best "mistake" I've ever made LOL That sounds a bit weird but she's a great example of how sometimes it's best not to plan your life too much... I didn't plan to have a child in my 20's but now that I have the boys she's SUCH a good help and I realise that I couldn't have "planned" it any better ie to have a daughter early then have a big gap then 2 more boys. You should have seen the expressions on the faces of the other mums at playgroup today! They couldn't believe she was my daughter, although they kept saying "oooh she looks just like you!"... Verity is almost as tall as me now (I'm 5' 7"). Of course I mentioned to them I had a daughter but I kinda think they imagined someone younger. Anyhow, she's a constant reminder for me to just "go with the flow" of what life has to offer... everything for a reason etc. Oh also Candy: hopefully you'll enjoy the feeling of closure when your divorce has gone through. My DH was married before (for 6 years) and it was a kind of bittersweet moment. They didn't really have a nasty divorce, there was little animosity, and my DH really tries to see the positive side of the relationship. Every mistake you make makes you a wiser person.

Both boys are sleeping now, after a little resistance from Wade, and I'm going to head outside now and enjoy this absolutely gorgeous day :)

Bath - so far Ryan's the best mistake I've ever made too :)

On a bad note - friend of a friends just found out her baby has a hole in its heart. she's 10 weeks old!! how did they miss it this long???

nickers - i had my eyes lasered last year - and during the birth i swear my eyes popped out of my head whwn pushing! my eyes were pretty bad for a few weeks (esp. the first week), but are better now - i highly recommend laser surgery - best thing i have done.

Candy - Your eyes may improve... mine did. good luck with divorce - i got divorced last year, two weeks later i was married again - he hee.. sorry to hear about your friend - can they fix the hole?

You must all think I'm way too bloody cheerful, but I've had another wonderful afternoon!
First we went to the equestrian centre and had a lovely walk out to the paddocks (it's on 60+ rolling green acres) then I lunged Dante - being that he's a bit sloppy at the moment it was exercise for both of us. Gave him a brush and a feed, then a chat to some of the mums up there, put Dante away and got back to the car where the dog was patiently waiting. The whole time Oscar was asleep. Went to the reserve on the way home, caught up with my neighbours also walking their dogs, walked around the lakes and parted ways with the neighbours. The whole time Oscar was wide awake taking everything in and smiling (and sucking on the HAB). I fed him in the car and got home just before.
My washing wasn't completely dry, so that supposed northerly was a bit weak! No worries, it will dry tomorrow, no doubt! Oscar's asleep again in the HAB after DP changed his nappy.
DP said last night that he'd make lasagna out of some roo mince, so I hope he was serious - I could really go a lasagna after all my walking! I'll fold some nappies and clothes and then I might even crack open some of these acrylic paints and get creative...or I could read my book and leave the painting until Thursday when the weather is meant to turn... What to do????
ETA: In my conundrum I forgot to say, Candy, good one on the closure! Holes in hearts are not as grim as they used to be, I don't think, so hopefully surgery can still arrest any complications. I hope things start to really look up from here for you:)

CeeCee- Yeah i want to get the laser surgery done, but was told a while ago that your eyes have to be stable (ie: not get worse etc) for 6-12months? And that mine would keep deteriorating (sp?) until atleast 25. Well I am now 27 and they are still getting worse. So maybe one day when they stop getting worse & when i have the $$ for it!
Candy- oh thats terrible that your friends daughter has a hole in her heart. Have they called it a heart murmur? Not that this isnt a serious condition but if it is a murmur i have heard that it can be quiet common and fixed with an op, depending of the degree some people can live a happy, normal life with one. (My cousin is 23 and had one all his life & he is fine) So i am hoping it may be something along these lines, how upsetting for her parents, i hope they are coping ok. Must be a good closure for your divorce papers to go through too.
i havent done my easy shaper yet BUT i plan to shortly! we all went on a walk when dh got home from work (I took Nixon in baby bjorn) (dh took 2 dogs) we even discussed at mothers grouop today after we finish the rounds of visiting at houses we might do parks etc and go for walks.
I washed the bed sheets today, hung them out in the lovely sun and they dried!!

Candy, you must be so worried for your firend's bub! But like IK says, I am pretty sure they can fix them relatively easily. Still, to think of a poor little lamb in surgery!! BTW, I agree with Bath, Ryan is a cutie!

IK, sounds like you had a nice day with Dante. Which equestrian centre did you visit? Only one I know of is Werribee.

I had a lovely day too, after an early start. I had an 8am meeting in the city so was up at 6am to feed Flynn and was on the train by 7.30am. Then I spent the morning at work collecting work from my boss and inarvo caught up with my SIL for lunch. I cruised the shops at Melbourne Central and was VERY good - I did NOT buy a lovely skirt from Sussan ($90 - can live without it), I did NOT buy a set of cake forks from The General Trader ($30) and I did not buy a soap dispenser from Freedom ($50 - exxy I know but very nice). So that means I saved $170 in an afternoon! But I did buy a cake tester and ANOTHER blue and white striped top (I have 6, save white with blue stripes, others blue with white stripes, some with navy stripes, others with lighter blue stripes, some with wide stripes.....)

Then when I got home I did some work on the PC - working from home rocks! I don't think I'll ever want to go back to fulltime in the office. Hopefully I can swindle it so that even when I am "full time" I can work mostly from home. One thing which was surprising - I didn't think I would enjoy it so much. I was doing something even many lawyers would find dull (drafting special clauses to a lease) but it is right up my alley - I get to sit in front of the PC, typing away in my own little world, and I forgot the time. Before I knew it I had spent an hour. Somehow I think my 7.5 hours a week will be increased to 14hours (equivalent to 2 days). It is actually addictive when you can just focus on the task and not have to put up with all the bulldust that goes with being "at" work (transport, crowds, coffee room, annoying phonecalls, etc)

Anyway, enuff from me, gotta go spend time with my (big) boy.

yeh rory i always felt like I got my work done at home in about a third of the time I did at work due to lack of interupptions, meetings that you "had" to attend (that you didn't really) etc.

Ceecee – It’s been 3 + months now and they haven’t changed at all so I’m guessing they’ll stay worse. They used to get worse slowly; maybe this just missed a couple of steps and saved me some money on the interim frames & lenses. Hehe on being married 2 weeks later!

IK – you are too bloody cheerful!!! But I like it! Sounds like you had an awesome day yesterday. Did DH make the lasagne?

Nic – I don’t know many details. She is having a scan on Thursday so hopefully that will tell them something. The park plans sound great 

Rory – glad to hear you’re enjoying working from home. Must feel good to have something to focus on? Well done for saving all that money 

IK: yeah, you're like me: I bug people with cheerfulness a lot too I think LOL except my own family, they see the other side when Dragon Mummy emerges.... mmwhahaha!

ETA: I'm still doing laundry washing today... last chance for a few days as rain is on it's way Melbourne girls! Niall is sleeping now and Wade is digging this humungeous hole in our backyard... I can just see the top of his head now LOL! I made up this story the other day at nap time about finding a "mysterious box" while digging in the backyard and he is determined to find it! :-D

Wow what a slow day in here to day. Well it's another breezey day here today but at least the sun is out. All the boys are doing well, got Kailens new operation date the 2nd of October so about 3 weeks away, so that is in the school holidays so that is good.

Bath- ahh i can just imagine Wade's head popping out of this huge hole LOL! I know he is hard work for you but gee he sounds like such a character! Imagine what he and Niall will be plotting together in a few yrs!

i bought some fenugreek tablets today to try and increase my supply, hoping this helps, i will persist with Nixon for a few more weeks but if he is still unhappy when we come back from sydney i think we'll revert to a bottle, then will prob express for as long as i can. I figure 5 months is a pretty good length seings i didnt think i would be able to bf, hopefully i make it to 6 months that was my original goal but anyway if not then so be it.
Ali how is Tori going? any better?

Well I unfortunately have had a bad horse week! I purchased a new horse 2 weeks ago to work on and turn over in a few months. This morning when I went to feed up he had severely injured his hind leg. We made the heartbreaking decision to have him put down. (euthanised) Candy, I know our situations are a little different, I only had Mitch for a short time. But I know how you feel. I hope you are ok.

Nic 5 months is a great achievment....i only got to BF for 5 days as my DD was to sick and the minut amount of medication that got into my milk was enough to make her a little worse as she was already sick! I hated that i had to resort to a bottle but hey she had to feed somehow.

Us Well we are having a hectic home life. I am not even marries yet and me and DF are fighting like an old couple (thats what someone said). Well i think i have the right to be cranky when he decided because he couldn't get the portacot to fold down he would take to it with a pair of scissors- a hole right in the side. I said to him it will be a bit hard at first because it's brand new, plus does he want it to be that loose that it falls down on her or when she is older can pull it down on top of her. I was so ropeable....i said a lot of naughty words too!!! :angry:
Tarleha has decided that she likes the little song "eyes and ears and nose and mouth" :p giggles like crazy and when it gets to mouth she ttries to get my finger...is so cute.
She has been giving me so much grief at the moment.
And yeah well the councilling don't get me started on that one...or i'll be here for ever....
Better go my counciller is ringing me in 25mins. Oh just quickly i have now lost 9.5kg off my pre preg weight, GO ME.

Verity and I have commemorated Niall turning 3 months old by doing foot prints... about to up load the piccys onto his site now... All done.

June Mummy: Oh dear! Sorry you've been having such a rough time lately... hmmm sounds like your DF needs a bit of anger management! Good grief... though I still can't tackle our porta cot by myself... it is frustrating but it gets easier with practise... like folding down our pram... I still can't do that without muddling through, lucky it only needs to done once a week when we go to Little Athletics.

Ok... gotta go again... Verity has been very patient! Plus she hung out the washing while i was loading the photos... good girl (but she got an ice pole for doing that).

KL - that does sound like a tough time. We're all here if you need to talk. these girls get me through everything!!!

Bath - as the resident culinary queen, I need your help. My family are visiting this weekend (not so happy about this but that's another matter) and I need to menue plan. Friday night I have NFI what to cook. Saturday I am thinking roast leg of lamb (dad likes his red meat, I much prefer chicken) but should I do herb or bacon stuffing? And do you think I should make some of my fresh bread and make herb bread to go with it?

Candy: We don't eat red meat (mammals) but when I make stuffing for chicken/turkey I loooove using crushed nuts. Macadamia and walnuts are really good... you can mix in some herbs with it too... something not too strong like marjoram... with a bit of garlic and/or black pepper. Remember to combine with an egg so it doesn't come out all crumbly... and you can always bulk it out with bread crumbs if necessary... oh and add a bit of olive oil both for flavour and consistency too.

Gotta go... Wade has got himself stuck in Niall's cot some how...
