Babies Born June 2006

Hi girls... well the June Bellies thread was closed today at 4.44pm. I'd just posted a msg congratulating Tulip and CeeCee on receiving the extra thousand Baby Bonus! One day I might venture into the archives and read some of the early posts... seems like yesterday that we were all consoling each other with hopes that our morning sickness symptoms would end soon!

Tulip: yes, it's an electric pump, same type as the one they use on maternity wards ie would cost a couple of hundred to buy... we're just hiring it for a month. I'm using it mainly every morning when i wake up uncomfortably full. I'm freezing the milk immediately in ice cube trays then transfering the cubes into plastic zip-lock bags. This will be a handy supply if I want to go out without Niall shopping or on a date with DH ;) It's also good because I can express off the thinner foremilk and save the more filling hind milk for Niall meaning that he'll probably gain more weight... slow weight gain was an issue with my previous 2 children (according to the MCHN) and I'd love it not to be a constant theme with each visit this time! Personally I don't think my children ever suffered... they just have my DH's slender genes, high metabolism and tend not to store much fat. I hope the nurse i'm seeing this time takes into account aspects like energy levels and contentedness (a hungry baby isn't as settled as mine were) when gauging whether they were receiving enough nutrition! Beware first timers: MHCNs can cause unnecessary stress... trust your instincts! If you don't think there is a problem and that she is worrying you needlessly get a second opinion (from your GP for example). Some nurses are just too pedantic about weight gain... don't let them stress you out!

Oooh it's still open Hey Tulip and CeeCee! You lucky ducks score the extra grand $$$ (unless you went into labour last night and delivered before midnight).... I've heard delivery suite staff are very pedantic about recording the exact time of birth eg. 11.58pm and have prevented families from receiving the extra baby bonus money... how wretched would that be???

Regarding exact moments of delivery: I had the radio on Gold 104 FM (I think) when I was at the final pushing stage and heard about 10 songs.... I recall hearing a song by Fergal Sharkey (1980's singer) doing his "You Little Thief" LOL I let myself have a rest at that point 'cos I didn't want him born to that song! Then there was a really good Eurythmics song which I tried really hard for but couldn't manage it... in the end he was born to "Foot Loose" (can't remember the artisit) ROFL!!!

Bought the coloured wooden letters for Niall's door today spelling his name... kinda special Love these little mini events in my new babies life...

Just checking in on you all... sounds like most of you are settled into a new routine with feeding and sleeping, which then changes - he hee..but you all sound so positive!!!

Extra $1K, yes, I've already spent $800 on new blinds so that I can b/f in the lounge room without the neighbours seeing..Yeah..

I'm desperately trying to induce myself naturally, but nothing seems to work... well, 7 more days and I will not have a choice! Next appointment in on Monday so will get exact details on medical induction then... miss you all...

Hi ladies!

My first post in June babies how exciting!

Can't stay online long as its mum's birthday today and I've gotta order some chinese takeaway in like 10 mins!

I'm doing very well and energy is nearly restored. PND is fading methinks and my crying spells have decreased dramatically! The c/s is getting to be a distant memory too which is good! THANKS TO ALL WHO HAS BEEN WISHING ME WELL AND SENDING ME POSTVE VIBES - MOST APPRECIATED!

Aleise is sleeping very well and at about 6hrs overnight but has an unsettled period of 6pm to 12pm! I'm a bit annoyed that only Matt can settle her in for the night so hopefully I can change that soon.

Feeding: She's on forumla and takes anywhere from 60-120ml per feed. Since she's nearly one month she should be on 150ml per feed according to Heinz formula tin but I'll check this with her paeditrician in 2 weeks.

Well gotta dash - aren't there two of us left to give birth yet? Tulip and Cee-cee is it?

Great to see you Neeny! That's fantastic news about your PND symptoms easing :) Stay rested though and be easy on yourself. Sounds like Aleise is doing fine!

We took Niall on his first significant outing this morning; caught a train into Melbourne Central (retail centre above train station in CBD). All very easy.... gave a discreet BF in Borders book store in a quiet corner with a hazelnut Latte :) Other than that he slept the whole time in his pram. Babies looooove the motion of a train, and there weren't very many people on board so it was very peaceful.

A little "woo hoo" for me: I had a sneezing fit this morning, squeezed my legs together through habit.... and realised that I didn't need to!!! I didn't leak!!! Soooo relieved i could almost cry! LOL

Bath - how fun is it discovering pregnancy symptoms that have dissapeared ? I had some really spicy food last night, I waited and waited for the heartburn to kick in and it never did.. I was soooo happy I had a beer hehe another luxury of not being pregnant
You make outings sound so simple , I keep meaning to go somewhere with Aneta , but there's people coughing and sneezing everywhere , and im going through some unusual paranoia stage , im scared she'll get a cold.

Neeny- Great to see you are getting back into the swing of things. I dont think that ANYTHING can prepare new parents for what having a newborn in the house is like.

Bath- Congrats on your first significant outing- we are really struggling to get out the door for even five minutes at the moment, but I am sure things will get better- she is just over a week old.

Enigma- I certainley agree that I am not missing some of the pregnancy symptoms, however it is taking a little bit of adjusting to get used to not being pregnant anymore- I guess I miss having my bubba with me 24/7 and knowing that inside at least she is pretty safe.

Well as for us I am feeling pretty exhausted today- we are really stuggling we feeds during the day. Tori woke up this morning and 9:30 and I fed her gave her to DH and had a shower, then she fed off and on from 11-2:30. It is so exhausting, in the end I gave her a bottle of formula to top her up because I just couldnt keep up with how hungry she was. the MCHN is coming on Tues so hopefully she can give me some tips of what to do, because after nearly 4 hours of feeding in a row I was over it. This seems to have happened every day since Thursday and I am not sure whats going on, whether my milk just cant catch up from over night- or whether its because I dont eat & drink too much during the night feeds I am not sure. But if it continues she will have to keep having a top up formula bottle in the day.

Anyway whinge over, she has been asleep for 3.5 hours now, and i have managed to get a nap and have another shower. DH has cooked a roast for dinner so hopefully after a bad day we will have a good night!

Ali maybe she is trying to bring more milk in (iykwim), or maybe she is having a growth spurt. Which means she may feed more to increase the amount of milk been produced. Cody did this the other week and I can understand how much it takes out of you when you feed constantly for hours on end.

Spent all day at Oscar's Nanna's and my mum came round to say a teary goodbye as school hols are over and she's back up the country now. She seems to have miraculously come good - DP reserved his wrath and she must've been humbled by it. All is well except for stingy nipples, but first maternal health nurse appt on Wed.

welcome to our group simone!!!!! we've got a couple of girls with us (nickers & racoon) that had very premmie babies. hopefully they'll have lots of advice for you over the coming weeks!!

Thanks cansy. I've spoken to nickers in the nicu/premmie area, its good to have someone know how hard it is... someone to sympathise. But Anneliese is doing great, she's amazing all her drs, she pulled her feeding tube out 3 days ago, and its like she knew she didnt need it, as she hasnt need it to be put back in - she's taking all her feed by bottle/breast (depending if im there or not). And she's hit the golden 2kg mark (she's now 2.072kg) so im hoping she'll be home in about a week. I cant wait for the sleepness nights, ill finally get to feel like a mummy, not a carer when i finally get time to go to hospital... but Anneliese is doing great woth her breastfeeding, she's demanding, and its nice to be able to bond with her :) Have to see gp this week, dh is convinced i have PND, trying to tell him its hard to feel like a mummy when my baby is almost a month old and hasnt been out of the nursery yet... of course im goingt o be a little down and depressed. Doesnt mean i have PND!!

I understand what you're saying re: feeling like a mummy. but if the check-up quietens DH, what can it hurt??

How are you all? Well Nathan's asleep, Got some handy dandy house cleaners in (DD1 and 2) and littlies are playing. So I thought I'd pop on quick.
Thanks for the support girls. Bath I have struggled after the last few, lol
Jo I don't really want anymore children either but I would love to be pregnant again and to have a newborn again. But where does it end. You have to draw the line somewhere. I'm envious of the first timers and those that can go again. Amanda that is how I felt after my third and fourth and fifth. People are telling me "Oh but you've got your boy so now you can stop" But it was never about that. We have never cared what sex we got, my husband wanted 6 children and I talked him out of it, now I feel that I could do one more. Going from four to five wasn't a problem but going from 5 to 6 would be, we would need a new car and space wise in the house my girls are already doubled up and the rooms aren't that big so I would have to have another boy to have an even distribution in the rooms. Little boys and girls can share when they are little todlers but not much beyond that.

But in all honesty, my desire to be pregnant again and to have another baby is just a purely selfish need and one that I will overcome. I am happy with the five I have. and over time I will accept that he is my last baby. For now I will just enjoy having him and cherish every bit. Who nows we could win the lotto and afford to have another one, lol.

DH, who only wanted 2 suggested we go for another one, because our others are so much older we should have a playmate for Nathan. I was in shock, I don't know if I could push another one out, and like Amanda said we would need a new car (maybe if we wait for 2008 we will get the baby bonus of $5000.) I'm happy with my 3 boys, but I guess we will just wait and see, it's too soon to be thinking about it at the moment.
i hope everyone is getting plenty of rest and enjoying their babies.

DH and i want to find a job for him out in strathboagie or somewhere out that way, move out ther, get a big property and have a couple more (i want at least 6!) Im the eldest of 6, and i loved being in a big family. i suppose its each to their own, and generally its all about finances, but i can make it work, mum did it, and dad didnt always have a well paying job. But we always had what we need, and sometimes what we wanted... Sorry, with all the talk about how many kids, i thought i woul jump in!

Amanda - I just noticed that your little man is a month old !! where is the time going? Seems like yesterday we were all inthe June belly buddies happy that we had started our 3rd trimester ( and now we are in our 4th hehe )

Ali- I could not agree more with you when you say that NOTHING prepares a person for a new baby. No matter how many people told me that I would be sleep deprived and this and that I thought - yeh right , it'll be easy , like in the movies hehe. Its not that easy , and its the biggest adjustment. But then she's sleeping and she smiles in her sleep and I melt and I think - who cares about all the sleepless nights and everything else - This little angel is all mine :)

I have to say I really admire all of you who have more than one child. To be honest , I dont really think I want another one. I dont think I could handle the stress. I spend most of the night not sleeping just watching Aneta to make sure she is still breathing , or that she hasnt slipped under the blanket. Then I wonder if she's too cold / hot , then I think she's done a poo and she must be uncomfortable in her nappy. .. and it just goes on and on ... I created a new life , and now I'll spend my whole life worrying about her. I suppose its like that with all mothers ...Cant imagine what I'll be like when she's a teenager !

CeeCee - I read your post about the bleeding , and your not replying... so im keeping my fingers crossed because it sounds like this is it for you ! ! ! I was going to sms you .. but your not on the list :-/

Tanya - how are you feeling?? let me guess , pregnant ?? your a trooper for lasting so long and complaining so little , if it was me all i would do is whinge to anyone that would listen.. so well done and hang in there !! Lucas will be in your arms before you know it..

As for me - i had a HUGE fight with my mum last night ( as we all seem to be doing ).. might post about it in the boohoo room. I ended up in tears and she ended up saying Dh and I could leave as soon as possible because she's had enough of us:( Why cant some people be happy that others are happy ? grrrr..

Howdy all new mummies and the last of our 2 preg troopers!

Aleise has just had her bath and I've layed her on the winnie the pooh playgym on our bed, mum is keeping an eye on her whilst I spend some time on the 'puter in our study!

Gee - talk about little or no ME time! Seems Matt can still be a daddy and have time for his home brewing etc and I am lucky to check emails and finish my pram blanket I started whilst preggers! :eek:

Having another: Not likely for us 'cause my pregnancy was difficult and we wouldn't be able to afford another child on Matt's current wage. Also I'm keen to finish my last 10 subjects at university since I've been a student for like EVER! I can't see myself sick whilst preg with #2 and trying to look after Aleise and the house and working! Face it - not many of us are Wonder Woman!! :p

However we are toying with the idea of fostering a little boy down the track - if Aleise wants a brother or sister that is. I don't want her to end up spoilt like my cousin (who was an only child) or my ex-best friend who's an only child. I know not all sole children turn out that way but I'm a bit anxious about it!

Hello to Simone and love the name you've given your little girl - I actually wanted to call Aleise "Annelise" but its too long for our surname.

Matt and I have a ball to go to in 3 weeks and I'm trying sooooo very hard not to eat junk food since I can't exercise until August (according to physiotherapist). Its a 1920's theme and I'm thinking of what kind of dress I can sew already! Also will need to get my hair done for it and was toying with the idea of going as a redhead! hehe! It will be nice to get out of the house as a couple once again.

Good afternoon girls... probably just a short one today... two boys sleeping but both due to wake at any minute... Mother gone awol (don't know where, she said she was going out but that was hours ago... oh well, at least she's not sulking or bossing us around... I've had to hide the vacuum cleaner so she doesn't try to use it at the crack of dawn... and last night Wade kept saying "nana go home!" that was mildly embarrassing until I thought to myself "well maybe she might get the message and think about how poorly she's been treating him and us".... but no, she's only spoken to snap instructions today... how can a person be so miserable? I agree Enigma, I think she really struggles to see that her moods aren't affecting us the way she wants, I swear some days her sole purpose is simply to make us all miserable like her, and she's failing.

Uh oh... need to tend to Niall... didn't have time to properly Welcome Simone! :) Will come back later though...

Well after a long month to collect my thoughts, I have finally done my birth story, yay for me and a spare few minutes to write it out.

Great news here Patrick has hit the 3 kg mark! He was weighed this morning and he has grown from 42cm at birth to now 51 cm. it is only a little weight gain compared to the rest of my kids but at least it is a weight gain (180 g in a week!)

Welcome Simone- I hope that you find some great support amongst this group. Great to hear that your little girl is doing so well.

We had a much better day here today, Tori actualley fed and went back to sleep twice during the day which meant she wasnt attached at the boob all day. I have to say it was a bit of a relief, meant my poor DH didnt come home to a crying mess again this afternoon. It is funny how emotional it can get when you think that you are not doing something right...........when in reality things are going just fine, but at the moment that it happens you cant see past the moment.
I actualley managed to do the dishes, bake a cake and entertain visitors today....feeling much better about it all.

Anyway I had better go and have a shower, might have an early night as Tori is due to wake for a feed around 10 and I just dont think I can last that long!

Hi all! We're still waiting on Cee Cee and Tulip?
I have my angel on my lap, making the cutest sleepy noises :) It feels like he is an interactive toy - I'm so in love with him! DP gives the baths and changes nappies during the day, and then has to extract Oscar from me when I just want to spend the whole day on the couch with him on my chest! I need to get out and go for walks now, though - hard when it's freezing out and I'm pretty sure I have nipple vaspospasm...oh, well, must just do it!
I'm trying to attach a ticker to my profile, but I don't think it's worked...

just popping in to say hi. And that the perfect run has ended.... for now. I think Ryan's having the good old 3 week growth spurt. I'm glad in some ways that I'm not BFing cause I feel exhausted enough and as though all I'm doing is mixing up bottles! Oh well. enough whingng from me. Ryan has finally gone back to sleep so I'm going back to bed. Hopefully I'll fit in personals sometime this week!

first time posting in here. Nixon & I returned home yesterday after a week and a half in sydney. I had lots of fun catching up with everyone, was very tiring though, and now as of yesterday i have come down with some cold or something i feel like my head is going to explode. Booked into the docs for this arvo. I wanted to take Nixon anyway to ask a few things and get his name on the books (Paed recommended doing that)
my sister got all upset when i left, we had so much fun every day with our bubs/just laughing and giggling at one another, i think we will be moving back up there sooner rather then later...

Nixon has been great considering we were out and about every day and in a different environment. He is a very spewey baby though and can chuck anywhere between 4-10 spews between one feed to the next. Im sure it is reflux/colic. Ive seemed to lessen the pain with colic releif but still spews just as much.
I THINK he weighs about 4kg now and its dissapointing that he could be beefing up so much more if he wasnt throwing up so much.......

I was upset to ready in belly buddies that Ronan did not come home last week. Im hoping he came home yesterday or Racs atleast knows when, gee must be hard he has been there so long and you just want to bring your boy home.

Simone- sounds like Annaleise is going extremley well and putting on weight nicely. That would be awesome if she goes home in a week or so. I wonder how you juggle back and forth from hosp with 2 little ones aswell?


DH S##ts me he really does. i felt so terrible when we got home yesterday with this head cold and thought he would just be jumping out of his skin to spend time with Nixon. which he did until he started crying... then saying stupid things like why do you cry for, why are you crying for me.....he just doesnt try and settle him, he holds him and expects him just to stop crying for him. then when i get him to stop crying he wonders why, i tell him this that and the other and then we are argueing that i tell him what to do!

anyway i really should be back in bed, ive only taken panadol so far because i dont know what i am allowed to take bd and all?? hoepfully doc can hep me with something thats safe.

oh bummer if only we realised sooner we didnt have ceecees number...... thinking of you....

Well I read in the July belly buddies that CeeCee will be induced this week end she is hopeing to be holding her little girl by the 10th. So good luck to her and DH.

Tanya is still holding on as well, hopefully she will be having Lucas soon.

As for us Cody was a bit unsettled last nite and wouldn't bring up any of his wind and when he did he would have a chuck, so I'm really tired today and would love nothing more then to have some more sleep, because now he's sleeping good and I've got the other three to look after.

Ooh how exciting for Tanya, hoping it is a nice quick labour for her.

Well like Nickers this is my first time posting in here too. We finally made it back to Karratha on Sunday after around 7 weeks in Perth and boy was I looking forward to getting back to my own space and creature comforts. The kids were such troupers on the 2 day drive, we only had a couple of crys out of Alex and Gabriella was a star.

The last week though has been a bit of a nightmare, we all had gastro even poor Alex. Think he is still suffering a bit as he did a power chuck last night over my neighbour and I was up most of the night with him being unsettled. DH is back at work today after a month off so we are now just trying to get into our routine.

Alex so far has been a really good baby, touch wood. Very placid. He tends to feed around every 2.5 hours during the day for around 20 minutes, any more then that and he will spew it back up. He is very greedy though, if I don't stop him he would just keep feeding and feeding and feeding....he is averaging putting on around 500 grams every 10 days at the moment which the paed says is fantastic. At nights we find he is unsettled from around 7-11 and then usually he will sleep till around 2 and then till around 5-6, so all in all not too bad.

Welcome Simone also to the group, looking forward to hearing all about Annaleise's progress.

Am exhausted now though and DD is watching some brekky tv so I might go ahve a lie on the couch whilst I can. Ciao.

Well, I think this ravenous little monster wants another feed, and then I need a shower while he dozes off after a feed (have NO problem with him sleeping straight after a feed!).

no news here, i had some bleeding, and have had LOTS of painful contractions, but still nothing... I'm so upset which I know is silly, lots of people go over, it is just that everyday feels horrible, I feel like I am in no man's land, both in the real world and even here - I'm not a June Baby and I don't feel like a July Belly so I feel very issolated and alone... DH even stayed home from work yesterday for me, but he can't stay home every day...

anyway, that is not what I wanted to type, I actully wanted to type that I'm happy because I now have a date to be induced, which was nice of Amanda to pass it on...thankyou... I will go into Hospital on Sunday night at 8pm and then hopefully contractions will start on Monday... I understand that I now may not be able to go to the birth center and have a water birth as planned, but really I don't care anymore, I just want to see my baby girl......

Ive been to the docs and basically just got a cold. can only take panadol and nasal spray. Im hoping Nixon doesn't get it so today just been expressing and bottle feeding him so he is not too close to my chest and breathing if thats at all possible. Alexandra Jayne is moving around so much it actually feels like she is trying to get out herself, it is so painful, esp. in the lower part of my belly (the kicks in the ribs are OK, but in the kidneys or whatever else is lower down really hurt).. Still lots of cramping as well.. oh well, I guess this is all part of it..

MIL had the nerve to tell me her sister went 2 weeks over and ended up giving birth to a still born - what a *****, don't know why she told me that but it was not what you tell someone who will be induced when she is 13 days over!!!

well, dh is home from work so I feel a little better now.. hopefully we will wake up to good news from Tulip.
