:dance: sleep 9pm - 5:30am, wake, cuddles in my bed and straight back to sleep till 6:30am, feed, back to sleep till 8am :dance:

he has been sleeping so well at night, I can hardly believe it and will enjoy it while it lasts ;) This is my forth and this has never happened before...day sleeps are another story :rolleyes: and he is feeding a lot during the day too..

Breastfeeding is going well, I love it, the best cuddles ever and a great excuse to sit down and just "be" for 20 minutes.....with the other 3 I don't get much chance to sit down so its a great excuse.

Mel - I hope the medicines help to increase your supply...:hug: you are doing great!. Hopefully as your supply increases you may be able to get a bit more sleep at night.

Reenie - Hope Seraya sores get better soon, little champ sleeping well for you. It my birthday next Wednesday too (I will be 28 though!!) hope India has a good time at Sea World.

Andie - YAY Cam for those big sleeps! Ari has been in 00 for a while but can still wear some 000 stuff, I also put him in 0 wondersuits that really aren't that big.

Bec - Thanks for your comments on my blog....will check yours out today. You would of loved the expo, fluff, fluff everywhere !!.

I don't darken the room really, sometimes I draw some of the curtains so its not heaps bright but it doesn't seem to matter either way.

catherinemoses - Its great that you are breastfeeding :clap:. I find it amazing what our bodies can do and feeding an older child is just lovely :).

Kanda - Contact the ABA if you have questions, they are great!!. Your supply naturally regulates after a while and your breasts will feel less full but you are still producing the milk your baby needs. Also once babies get to 5-6mths their weight many plateau and that is normal too. The WHO recommends breastfeeding for 2 years now, exclusively for 6mths before solids. In many countries it is the norm to feed for 4+ years. I will be feeding for for 2 years, all going well.

Hi Girls, had a bit of catching up to do I haven't been on here since Monday (I was nearly having withdrawals LOL!)
Hayley and Reenie Thanks for the encouragement re: BF. I have had quite a bit of encouragement which really helps me to continue. The most encouragement has come form my nan, she always says well good on you and well done!
Melinda Mother's Group was good, we has a session about CPR on bubs. They got us to have a go on the little baby resus dummy. It's good to know, but hope I never need to do it for real:crossfingers: We are having our last session next week and then we are left to our own devices! All of the mums bar one are first timers. Maybe they only offer MG if you are a first time mum? The lady in our group who is a 2nd time round has a 5 year old so he is at school, also she specifically asked about a MG cos she is from OS and doesn't have many contacts with local mums. Hopefully we stay in touch, there is talk of going to mums and bubs session at the movies, that should be nice!
We went out last night to a state of origin 'party' LOL! DH and I are not into sport at all, but he is a QLDer and we have some friends down here also from QLD and Origin is VERY important! I went for the Blues cos no-one else was, was pretty exciting lol! THB it is much MUCH better than AFL:shhh:
OK hope I didn't miss anyone but I gotta go do more constructive stuff!

Been absent I know. Just busy. We all have the sniffles now and Jake too :( Poor fella cant breathe at night so just when he was starting to sleep through we are back at square one. I've spent the last few nights sitting up in bed with him.

worked out what was up with the monitor, the damn things batteries were dead again last night.....grrr! went to turn the tv on in the bedroom and oh....bloody DH hadn't plugged the powerboard back in from when he vacuumed a couple of weeks ago!!! No wonder the batteries died so quick, damn thing hasn't even been plugged in!

Nothing much else to report, just fed up with the house, it's all cluttered again and with Jake unwell I'm getting nowhere!! Good news is it seems Mum is keen to have Ben and Chloe over the June long weekend which will be heaven. Only two weekends to go!!

Anyway I'm off to make bottles (fun!) and get to bed while I can and Jake is settled. Better refill the vaporiser too.......

Looks like it's been quiet in here ...

Cam had his vaccinations today. Poor little bugger screamed blue murder for 30 seconds after the second shot but was smiling away at the nurse before we left the surgery. Gotta love how bubs forgive and forget so quickly! He's been a bit unsettled tonight but I guess that's normal.

Otherwise we've had a pretty ordinary/regular couple of days.

Anyone else got christenings/naming days etc scheduled? DH and I are having Cam baptised on July 5.

Hope everyone and their bubs are doing ok.

Not looking forward to Ethans immunisations. There is no way I wouldn't get him immunised as my dad and his siblings had polio when they were young. His brother died from it and his sister was left paralysed in her arm. I just don't want him to hurt though:(. I know it won't be for long and it is for his benefit but still.....

Ethan was waking only once overnight at 2 then again at 6, but has now started waking at around 1-130 then again around 5am. The last few nights he has had his final feed at 630-730. I don't dream feed. Jsut not sure how it would work with him, I think he would wake up and want a full feed or not wake and not bring up his wind which would cause problems later. His schedule at the moment isn't too bad, could be worse. I have elevated the mattress in his cot and I think it has helped. He had started screaming every time I laid him down in the cot, even if I was there comforting him, wrapped and with dummy. HE would settle quickly in the rocker so am wondering if he is a bit refluxy or just doesn't like lying flat.

AndiE - no naming day etc here. Hadn't thought about it. TBH can't be bothered and don't see the point (not religious). For us it is not important, neither of us were named, baptised etc and we have survived. The thought of all the work involved and where we would have it done gives me a headache just thinking about it.

Bec- I hope all the sickies in your house get well soon.

catherine moses - glad you got to do CPR, it is important to know. Hopefully you will never need it.

how are you all ?

we have had the inlaws here today for dh birthday and i am exhausted, we can't go to them as they live over an hour away and with our boy hating the car it wouldnt be a fun trip but it is really tiring having them all here, James has been grumpy all day and only had a one minute nurse with his aunt who hadn't seen him yet (she has been overseas for 6 months) was too grumpy to go to any of the others ! and i wasn't keen to pass him around and make him grumpier but on the plus side 3 out of the last 4 nights he has only woken us once, last night fed at 1130pm and then 0430, not perfect but much better !

Bec: how is Jake going ? what a pain he got sick, hopefully he will get back into a rountine when he is better

Andie: hugs to cam for his injections. no naming day/chrisitening for us either

Luey: hugs for Ethan for after he has them ! just for future reference after they are 6 months old you can buy the emla patches for them to numb the area before the injections, we used those for DD once we could and they worked really well, the older they get the more aware they are of whats going on so they are good then

Catherine: that is good they taught you cpr at mothers group and i too hope you never need it (im a midwife so get tested on it every year at work)

Hayley: yay for Ari having big sleeps too, its a worry when they love tummy sleeping but james is ssooo comfortable that way too !


Jo: are you all alright ? you have been very quiet for a while

Reenie: how are the computer problems ?

im not convinced my supply has increased with the motilium, but as he is sleeping for longer i will keep them up for now.

i'd still love to see pictures as the children grow so girls keep sending them by email when you want too !

We are still here. I don't get a lot of time these days as my Hubby - Mick has changed jobs and is home a lot less then what he was before :(. He is doing change overs to Kempsie (not sure of spelling) 5 nights a week and is working locally on sunday nights. Sometimes he doesn't get to bed to 9am and leaves to go to work about 4pm and he has 6 hours sleep.
Riley has a cold and now he has conjunctivitis in both eyes. We went to the doctors yesterday with him so I got Isabella's needles done while we were here. She cried a little after the first needle but cried heaps after #2 and cried all the way home in the car. Luckily its not that far to the doctors. I had to take Isabella back to the doctors this morning as she has conjunctivitis in her right eye but not that bad. It cost us $50 for antibiotics, cream and drops for Riley. He had a sore next to his mouth and I went to the chemist to see whether they could give me something as I didn't want to sit at the docs for 2 1/2 hours. They gave me cream which didn't clear it up so when we saw the doctor yesterday he said that something had bitten Riley and was now infected. Don't know what could have bitten him. Riley hates having the drops in his eyes.

Isabella is doing well. The last time I had her weighed (a week and a half ago) she gained 220g in 11 days and has finally hit the 4kg mark :dance: Isabella is feeding once thru the night which is fine by me. Isabella is smiling heaps and has starting talking - so cute.
Anyway I had better go and get things done before Isabella is due for her next feed - which is now.

Have sent an email. Just been quiet due to probs with DH. Split up for a few hours but are trying to make it work. Just like Elaine and Puddy on Seinfeld. Sorry that show is my religion. LOL. I am kinda tired of telling the story so I will wait and see how things go before I start whinging about our 'same h!t different day' dilemmas.

AndieNo naming day for us either. Didn't do it for India either. Not religious and is not our thing. We bought the keepsake birth certificates for both of the girls along with their legal one and that is the flashiest thing we will do lol. As long as the answer when their name is called, I know I have done my job. But good on you for following tradition. I hope the day turns out to be memorable :D Oh and I think it was you asking about trimming finger nails. I use baby scissors. Tommie Tippee ones. They are great. I do it when she is sleeping or eating and get a perfect cut each time. They are pretty safe and if I do it when she is sleeping or eating, she doesn't flinch or anything. But I have to do it once a week, they grow so fast!!

Bec Hope Jake is getting better and sniffles are dying down. So far we have been lucky to escape winter sickness here. But it is only the start of the season I guess. Thanks too for checkin up on me today via sms. Sorry I didn't reply. I was flat out with the two girls. Things are going good for now. We are finally moving into a house. It almost ended in divorce for him to see my point. Can't wait to be able to bath India in a bloody bath tub!!
We will be another 2 or so klms from Brissy but still only 15-20 mins driving time really. I used to live almost in the city and in peak hour traffic, it take can take just as long or longer to get home! We don't need to be close to the city so am looking forward to the move. I have found us a house. It is 5 bedroome executive style house on the river. 3 bathrooms- with bathtub!! Rumpus room for the kids, media room for us, and a nice kitchen and entertaining area. Not to mention spa in the ensuite. HEAVEN!! I can't wait. If I can get it locked down in the next week, we will be moving at the end of July. YAY!! :woohoo:

Mel Hopefully get my laptop back this week some time. Then I can finally load some updated pics!! There is soo many things wrong with the damn thing. THe power supply socket has never worked properly. I have gone through about 7 chargers for it, plus spyware and virus have been finally cleaned off, fixing the cd/dvd drive- skips all the time and doesn't burn cds or dvds properly anymore, and my SD card from my camera doesn't get picked up when I insert it into the SD slot. Just to name a few issues lol. It is only just over 2 years old but has been well used!! So yeah gona love having it back to like new. Bummer about bubs sleeping habits. Hugs to you. That must be hard. Seraya is getting better each day. But still won't completely settle until 1am or so then sleeps till about 8:30 which isn't too bad. I am a night owl anyway so I don't get tired until at least midnight. Which is why my posts are always so late. We are all late sleepers here. :D

Jo India has conjunctivitus too. Except she got it from getting shampoo in her eye, Totally my fault. I ran out of her shampoo so I tried using Head and shoulders and some went in her eye and she had an allergic reaction too. At least its not bacterial CC so it isn't goopy or gunky. It just make her right eye red. But because of her sensitive skin and excema, she got impetigo (for the 8th time so far) on the corner of her eye and underneath. So I have been bathing her in phisohex and lathering her sores with bactroban which seems to be keeping it at bay. I am uber prepared for exema complcations here because I have been through it so many times with her already. She turns 2 on Wednesday so I hope she is better at least by the weekend. We are taking her to seaworld. Seraya is giggling and cooing back at me wildly. I am loving this stage because I am the only one that can really settle her either with cuddles, singing or boobies :D
I still get special smiles and coos. Its amazing how the second time around, you can read their little language a lot faster!! Makes being mummy the best job ever!
Well better try and get this princess into bed. Shes been up for the last few hours playing with grampa. DH and I had a nice dinner and played mini golf in the city tonight. And not one fight! SOmething must be working..for now anyways! Nite and farewell for now.

Ooooh Andie, vaccinations aren't fun huh? It's worse when they are older (Ben just had his 4 y.o ones done a while back) and you have to force them to go!! But it's all over in a few seconds and luckily they are little and forgive and forget. Cam did well :) Hope all goes well for Cam's naming day...make sure you get some pics for us all! Nothing like that here either....

Luey, sounds like Ethan may have reflux? You are doing all the things you can, BF and elevating his matteress. Ben was refluxy when he was a bub but for his it wasn't a painful reflux, just a spewy one! An immature valve at the bottom of his oesophagus (sp!). So we went through the same kinda stuff, we had to keep him fairly upright after feeds for as long as possible just to keep it down! We used to just let him sleep in the rocker/bouncer during the day and we also elevated his matteress. I know you can get wedges to keep them upright-ish too? Depending on how you feel about it you can also use a tri-pillow.I never did with Ben, I was too paranoid, unless he was snotty as well and then I'd just bring him into bed and keep him upright in my arms. BUT you don't wanna do that everynight, it's a killer on the arms and shoulders!! lol Since Jake has had a cold I have propped him up on a tri pillow, right at the end of the cot. We have an Angelcare monitor too, I don't think I'd feel comfy leaving him like that at night without the monitor.

Mel, I'm glad James is settling in his routine a bit for you. You are a saint as i'm sure I'd be a total mess by now! How is he doing? How are you coping? Jake is much better now thanks, it's amazing the difference a couple of days makes! They recover so quickly!

Jo, you are having such a rough go atm! With hubby away so much you really don't need sick kids too!! You are doing such an amazing job having two littlies and a uber busy hubby. :clap:

I am SO envious of your fluff!! lol, it looks great! I love the bubblebubs. Let me know how you are finding them. What do you think of the BG's? I love mine on Jake atm, they are fitting better since he's chubbed out and I use them overnight on him. I love that if I need to change him in the early hours of the morning they are so foolproof and just like a sposie. I find the microfibre great. I was using the BBB on him at night but they are still so bulky and I'm just not stuck on the 'damp' feeling from the wool covers.....
Ari is sleeping so well, you really must have super booby juice. I am also envious of your wonderful BF, it's so great that you love it and obviously do so well at it!

Reenie, no problem ;) you had me kinda worried! I'm glad you are ok, and that things are also ok for the time being. The house sounds magnificent.....souns like a house I would dream of :lol:. Hope you get it! Poor India.....gosh you do such a fantastic job looking after her, kids with allergies like that really take that little bit of extra attention and worry!

Hi Catherine, SG, and any of the others out there who we have lost along the way! I'm wondering about Lenny, Ren, Rustygirl, Drbeee, Frazaeled.....so many others! Must be enjoying their bubs so much they just can't tear themselves away......;)

Not much here really, Jake is almost better, DH is sick with tummy bugs (eww!) and the out-laws (luey! lol) called to say they would be down on Thursday. BUT we have a time frame...they said Thursday to Monday, usually it;s an indefinite. I am actually looking forward to showing Jake off now he is older and doing all the 'talking' etc. When they saw him it was when we had to go away at like 3 days old and it was stressful! Now I know Jake better it should be good!!

Feels like it's been a busy few days here, although really not much out of the ordinary has happened! Will start off with a 'yay' moment ... Cam slept from 10.30pm till 8am this morning :dance:. Just hope my supply doesn't drop a bit because of the long time between feeds ... just have to see how we go, I guess.

Thanks for your tips re: cutting Cam's nails. I took the plunge yesterday while he was sleeping and got the baby clippers out. He didn't bat an eyelid. Don't know why it caused me any concern really, I think it was the thought of doing it the first time!

Cam survived his vaccinations very well - didn't have any side effects whatsoever afterwards. And Jo, I can soooo relate. Cam had exactly the same reaction, although he cheered up virtually straight away luckily.

Reenie - sorry to hear things not so good with DH. Hope things work out ok. Yay for the upcoming move :clap: (the house sounds lovely!) and hope India's eye probs clears up soon. Like you, we've steered clear of winter colds so far, but guess that's got something to do with Brissie's temperate weather.

Becstar - Glad to hear Jake is on the up-and-up. Your comments about reflux are interesting. I'm beginning to wonder if Cam is suffering from it as he has been spewing up more than usual lately ... and earlier today did a projectile type spew, and got a bit upset afterwards. Don't know if two things connected though as normally spewing doesn't make him cry. Funny thing though, I was burping him tonight after his feed and he spewed onto the towel over my shoulder. Before I could do anything, he put his face in it and ended up with a heap of white spew all over the right side of his face :doh:. It was quite a funny sight but the poor little bugger didn't seem to mind. Guess it was warm :D. Anyway, I'll keep an eye on him and see what happens. Like I said, it's not worrying him and he usually just has 2-3 spews (not always big ones) and he's ok. Have fun with your outlaws!

Jo - sounds like you've been flat out. Hope Riley is starting to feel better - how's his bite and cold? Sux about your DH working such horrid hours - you must crave weekends, or whenever he gets a couple of days off. To me it sounds like you're doing really well keeping on top of everything.

Melinda - How's James going? Still not liking the car seat huh? Have you found the motilium to be helpful since your last post? Hope so, although if James is sleeping a bit longer that's a good sign. And yes, I shared your Grrrr feelings IYKWIM.

Luey - How's Ethan doing ... has he had his vaccinations? It's not nice to see your baby scream in pain but it's only for a few seconds and they quieten down once you lavish them with love and cuddles. Well, mine did anyway. And yep, I agree the little bit of pain is worth it to have these diseases erradicated. How is his reflux?

Catherinemoses - how's things with you? Re your comments on mothers group ... seems like in Brissie we're left high and dry after we leave hospital as I haven't had any contact from anyone (hospital related). My sister had her first bub late December in Tassie, and it seems in Tas you get one or two visits from a midwife within a week or two of going home, and somewhere along the line new mums get a letter informing them of their nearest mother's group/clinic. Bec ... you probably know more about this. Anyway, Bris leaves a lot to be desired in after-hospital care. I pity any new mums suffering postnatal depression, cos the only follow up care after the birth is the 6-week ob/dr check up. Dunno what the "go" is in other states/cities ... maybe Tassie isn't the norm?

Hayley ... many happy returns for the day! Hope you had a good one and got spoilt!

Out of interest ... anyone else watching a british fly-on-the-wall series called Ladette to Lady. It's a corker - totally contrived, but hilarious. A bunch of p!ss heads if ever there was. And this is totally baby related - it's on during Cam's "late night" feed. In fact I think he deliberately seeks a feed at that time just so he can watch it too. Hmmm - just the sort of girl I'll be warning him off in about 16/17 years' time, methinks!

Hi Everyone. We've been very busy here, but have finally got a couple of minutes to myself. DH and I went into the city on Tuesday and got me a bench for my workshop so I can work from home (getting in before the end of financial year so I can claim it all on this tax return!) On the way home my car broke tho. Very annoying but I Flynn and I coped surprising well!! DH had to go and get our other car so he could tow us home. No room for a car seat in his ute so only option really. I had to drive the tow car and had no lights or wipers etc... glad to get home in one piece. Anyway it's all fixed now thankfully. DH has got some steady casual work which is great and yesterday paperwork came from the industrial relations commission about unfair dismissal. I think he is going to be having a meeting next month sometime with the AIRC in relation to it. Just have to wait and see I guess.
Bec Thanks for being concerned about where others are at :) I really appreciate that.
Andie I'm In Victoria and the day after I come home from hosp a midwife visited. The another day or 2 after that the MCHN visited and made an appointment for us to visit her the next week after that (I think I saw them 3 times after I came out of hosp and before 6 week check, every time she would say and how are you going mum? We very helpful for me to say it is hard and she had a few tips for thing I could try etc. I'm very grateful that she was there, and I can call anytime for a bit of advice, not that I have but it's great to know that they are there :)) . At round 5 or 6 weeks I got a letter from the MCHN saying a new mother's group would be run by them (at the health centre) for 6 weeks and we'd talk about settling, safety, starting solids, baby massage, CPR and stuff like that. We had our last one this week and are going to meet at one of the mum's home next week. I have really enjoyed meeting other local mums and it is good to have some adult interaction! Something to look forward to each week. I think that this should be a service offered to every new mum. I read in the paper the other day that one of the hospitals down here wants a 48hr turnaround for normal vaginal births. I was in hosp for a whole week with Flynn cos he had an infection and was on IV antibiotics. I'm so glad I was in there for that time. I was a wreck by day 3 and if I was at home I don't know what I would've done. I reckon new mums should have to stay in until their milk comes in at least.
Anyway, GTG Flynn is stirring and I still have to hang some washing out :)

Hope everyone and their bubbas are well - it's raining cats n dogs in Brissie and it's a beautiful sight. We need the rain so badly.

Question for those of you whose bubs are sleeping 7 or so hours at night. Has their longer sleeping habits affected your milk supply? Cam is sleeping between 7 and 9 hours at night (which is great :dance:) ... but I'm beginning to wonder what's going to happen to my supply. I'll probably put a post into the relevant area on BB, but just wondered if it was an issue any of you had encountered. Obviously breastmilk is a supply and demand thing. I ran out of formula a week ago, so I've just been exclusively BFing (approx 6 times per day). I haven't had a drop off in supply yet ... and maybe I won't ... but I don't want it to happen either and wonder if I should take measures to avoid it. Would welcome any thoughts or shared experiences.

Have a good Saturday one and all. We've got friends coming over for dinner tonight, so my day's going to be spent doing housework and cooking (in between booby feeds and "Cam cuddles"). DH would help, but he's having to work most of today.

Andie - Ari goes from 8 to 11 hours without a feed :o and when he wakes he is not overly distressed or hungry. He feeds well during the day.

My boobs are fine overnight (no engorgement etc) but if he doesn't feed off both when he wakes the other can get a bit hard and uncomfortable, but he soon fixes that :).

I took Ari to the clinic to be weighed and asked about sleeping through and weight gains/supply etc. The nurse basically said he is taking what he needs :). Since he started sleeping through (last 2 weeks) Ari has put on 550gms! So obviously she is right about him.

I demand feed so feel that if he wanted more he would "ask" for it yk? He actually wont feed at night..

Thanks for the birthday wishes, it was a bit of a non event but oh well :rolleyes:. I am getting an Isoki hobo nappy bag in retro paisley from a local baby shop (combined pressie from my sisters and DH and kids) but its not in stock for 2 weeks. Otherwise I got some tea towels from my Nan and a photo frame from my mum.

Ari has a cold again and all of us got dreaded tummy bug (except Ari and Nate) so I lost a few kgs :cryinglaugh:.

I hope everyone else is well or on the way back to good health :hug: the 2 "big" kids have gone to the ILs for the night so just the babies home tonight. Might go out to the pub for dinner its a bit cold though.

We're very well. Espen is a gorgeous little boy- and very social. He can't sleep if we're out and loves to see new people :) Our MG is going great and we start going to the ABA one this week too. He loves the hug a bub and has most of his day sleeps in that. Sleeps in his cot next to our bed for about 3-4hrs at a time at night... then comes in with us in the early morning. BFing was rocky- I had low supply and Espen kept losing weight but all fixed now.

how are you all ? everyone has been very quiet lately !

we are going fairly well, i have James booked into tresillian next week for the day to see what suggestions they can make, we have good days where he settles and sleeps really well and other days where he doesn't, those days usually lead to a bad night too, so we are going there on the 13th june, he is much better and doens't sleep in our bed anymore though. he is still dreadful in the car, screamed the entire 25 mins home from a friends place the other day, it makes going out such a drama.

DD and DH are both sick again, im hoping we don't get it also.

Hayley: wow Ari is really stacking on the weight especially with those big sleeps, definitely super booby juice lol how much does he weigh now

Bec: how did you going with the in laws ?

Andie: has your milk supply stayed the same still with Cam sleeping for long periods ?

Catherine: we have a high caesarean rate at the hospital i had my bubs. so the length of stay is probably longer but i had James at 4pm and came home the next morning (would have come home after 4 hours but because i was gdm i stayed for james to have a few blood sugar checks done) then the midwife came 2 or 3 times when i got home and then the early childhood nurse about a week later and that was it, i know the midwives would have come for longer had a needed it

Reenie: sorry to hear you have been having more trouble on the home front, hope you and DH are sorting things out, the new house sounds great, bet you cant wait !

Melinda - Milk supply is surviving Cam's long sleeping hours (although he woke up at 4.30am yesterday and 5.30am today after his last feed at 10pm ... still ok in my book). A bugger about DD and DH being sick - hope they get better soon, for your sake! Here's :pray: that tresillian helps with settling James. I've still no idea about what could help him settle in the car ... good luck with that one.

Ren - lovely to hear you and Espen are going well. You're right - they DO grow fast.

Hayley - how's Ari's cold? Had Cam weighed yesterday and he continues to put on 300-odd grams each week, so it seems he's happy going without booby for 8-9 hours overnight. He's now 5.7kg - WHERE IS MY 2.9kg BABY :cryinglaugh:?????

G'day to Reenie (hope things OK at home), Luey, Jo and Catherinemoses and anyone else I've missed.

DH, Cam and I are heading to the Gold Coast for the long weekend - DH secured the keys to a colleague's holiday unit :dance:. It's our wedding anniversary on the 10th, so we try and do something each June long weekend. Can't wait!!!

I'd better go do some housework/ironing etc (Aarghhh ... I want a cleaner!!!)

Robbo, sorry your b'day a non event....they get like that huh? Nappy bag sounds very funky :) I am all done with your beautiful nappies if you let me know what you want me to do with them? Someone else who needs them, another bub on the way (:lol:), or maybe you could sell them? I loved them, they were fantastic for the NB stage, so thanks again :hug:. Been trying to sew here, done a couple but the Wee Weka was the only one which was a good sizing so I'm doing up a 'good' one of those!

Catherine, hopw hubby's dismissal thing goes well, bl**dy people at the top end I tell you! Some of them think they can just get away with anything.....we have lots of issues with DH's boss but it's a small father son business, so it makes it hard when you have to be in contact every day like that. All the best for it!

Andie, I have no clue about the MG you all talk of!! lol I've never heard of it! We have local playgroups here but that's about it. When I came home from the hossie we have MW that come out a couple of times and then put you onto the local MCHN who take it from there.

Me for sure. I'm so pumped about the pregnancy and labour still and I'm looking forward to doing it again. I have a Uni prac to do mid next year though so we'll wait till after then. Well- that's when I think is a good time- my poor H can't believe I'm talking about it already :lol:

I know....I feel crazy for thinking it though as I have 3 now!!! I just don't feel 'done', but I also need to get into working soonish too.....well in the next couple of years! So hard! DH is freaking out that I want another he says no way but I'll work on him ;) He knows all the good BD that will come his way with TTC :lol:

Thanks Bec, I PM'd my email. Bummer about AF. I think I had a two day reprieve...my lochia finished and 2 days later AF started and that was about 8 weeks :doh: so annoying. I wasn't sure if it was AF tho given that I was and still am exclusively BF so I went and saw the GP and she sent me for an ulstrasound just to be on the safe side and they found I have poly-cystic ovaries. So today I had a blood test to make sure I don't have PCOS, which I'm pretty sure I don't have (according to my self diagnosis!!) and really don't want!!! About 2 weeks ago I was very much wanting to be pg again but I'm back to my senses now and am happy to wait a bit and make the most of Flynn!!!
I have finally gotten Flynn out of the bassinet in our room and into the cot in his room. It is going pretty well except it is VERY cold getting OUT of bed for the night feed :( Oh well at least it is only once and I am getting about 5 hrs before and 4 hrs after! Can't complain about that.
I went shopping today and while I was in BigW looking for breast pads (which I couldn't get) I had a look at the racks of reduced clothes. They had these cute little (baby)fleecy hood (with ears) jackets...for $2!!! They didn't have any 00 so I got a 0 which is ridiculously large but I couldn't not buy it...it was $2, can't resist a bargain :)
Anyway I think that's all I have to share :)

So that's what a bump is huh? Yup, told ya ... :doh:!

Am currently trying to get my son to sleep - given that he had nearly four hours from 1pm onwards, I shouldn't be surprised that's he's not settling easily tonight. Luckily it's just grizzling more than actual crying. But I can tell he's slowly on the way out. Pretty rare for us as normally he conks out as soon as he's put to bed. Oh well, he wouldn't be a baby if he didn't grizzle now and again at bedtime.

Wanna know something funny .... I'm beginning to think Cam is saying 'mum'. Of course, it comes out more like 'uuuummmmm' but it COULD be mum, right?
Yeah, yeah ... I know, I'm just hearing things! AS IF he's saying mum ... he's not even three months old. Still, sure sounds like 'muuuum' when he's grizzling ;)

Speaking of the little devil, I can hear him grizzling for 'muuuummmmm' :p right now. So much for being 'on the way out". Sigh!

James is unsettled tonight (nothing knew there ! although he was good for a few nights there sleeping 7 hours straight from around 7pm but he has given that up again ! doh !) hopefully we have an ok night. Emily is getting better, no fever now, had some vomiting and general lethargy, so far we have avoided it !

we are supposed to be putting floorboards down in the living area this weekend (the carpet is trashed from spills etc) but dont think it will be happening now as DH has been sick, i would prefer carpet because it feels cosier to me but floorboards (fake ones) will be more hygenic for now !

Ren - I swear to God, the more I hear it, the more it sounds like 'muuuummmm'. My DH has actually said to me a few times 'Cam's calling for you'. Goodness only knows, but I reckon our boys have got mum sussed :p.

Am keeping this quick, so will catch up with personals early next week. Got a gazillion things to organise/clean/pack before our long weekend getaway to the Goldy starts tonight (hopefully 15 mins after DH gets home).

But just wanted to state here and now that as of Tuesday (AFTER the long w'end) ... I'm gonna try and shape up a bit and lose approx 8kg to get back to my pre-conception weight. I'm 80kg now and used to hover around 72kg - a healthy weight for me. Before I fell pregnant I was probably 76 or 77kg - I got a bit lazy after moving to Brissie late in 06. But since I've had Cam I've been eating waaayyyy too many scotch finger biscuits and chocolate bars during the day! Plus cups of tea with one sugar! I never ever used to be like this, and I've worked out that the only reason I'm doing it, is cos no one's here to see :redface:!! And I need to get out and walk like I used to!

So, from Tuesday I'm going to cut out the crap and start walking again. Note, I didn't use the 'D' word ... I don't believe in D's - just healthy (er) eating.

Wish me luck, cos I'll need it. My willpower sucks where sugar is concerned. :cryinglaugh:

Gotta go ... feeding time at the zoo and lots to organise.

Andie: it sounds like Flynn says mmmmmmuuuuuuum when he gets really upset too. My DH actually pointed it out to me!! It's so cute and makes me feel very important!! Hope you have a wonderful weekend. I'm super motivated to loose my baby kgs too. My gym membership started up again today so I'm psyched for a body combat class tomorrow morning and I'm going no matter what! I don't care if Flynn wakes me 5 times tonight I'm still going!! Can't wait to have those exercise hormones rushing around and making me feel great! Hope your healthier eating goes well :)
Bec: Congrats on Jake sleeping thru, what a champ! I hope it is not a one off! Flynn is averaging about 6-7hrs and has done 8-9 once or twice. I can't really complain about nighttime sleeps which is great. One of the mums at MG is still up till 2 and 3am with her bub:o I'd have given Flynn back by now if he was still like that!! :lol:
Melinda: That sucks that you have PCOS :(. I should find out sometime next week. I'm really hoping that it's all normal. I don't have any of the symptoms except that I'm on the heavy side, but if I eat well and exercise I can shift it pretty easily, so I think I'm going to be pretty shocked if it comes back with something no good.
DH has been hijacked by my brother for the weekend. He is doing an engine swap on bro's car. Thankfully he is doing it here so it's not too bad. Thankfully Flynn enjoys sitting outside with daddy while he's working on cars so hopefully the weather is not too bad and he doesn't need to be in with me all day. Hope you are all enjoying your long weekends!

You girls who go to the gym are so wonderful! Even you Andie with walking :D Walking here is just useless, we do walk to the shopd etc but as I have the other two it is slow going and not exactly a pace to get your blood pumping! lol My diet fell apart badly :( I just can't afford the supplements at the moment.

On a happy note the two older kids have gone to Mum's for the night, YAY! So it's just DH, Jake and I. It's been nice, although I'm frustrated I had a huge list of stuff I wanted to do and have done none of it. It was lovely to see DH spending time 'talking' with Jake this afternoon. He doens't get the chance without the kids all over him. He was delighted to hear all the noises Jake makes now and how he is really communicating with you. Makes me sad too that he is missing out on it too :(

Ren, would you pm me your email? I'd love to add you to the list for pics etc. I saw one of Espen before you removed it...I love his hat! :D

I'm off to do bottles. Not feeling to good tonight went out for lunch for my brothers birthday and had a lovely penne pasta dish but it was so rich and have felt ugh for the afternoon. That and the end of AF isn't a good combo. I may just get a good nights sleep and even a little nap again in the morning ;)!

E has been out fo sorts for the last week, Thursday was really bad. Yesterday he slept maybe an hour during the day and was feeding every 1.5-2.5hours. He normally goes 3 hours during the day and has a big break of about 6-8 hours of an evening. I got 4 hours last night. They weren't quick feeds either, he still feeds for 30-45mins or longer sometimes. I was awake every 2 hours overnight, midnight (feed), 2(something woke me, ? bladder), 4 (feed), 6 (for an hour! with wind and explosive poo), 8 (feed). After 6 he settled in the rocker beside our bed and after the feed at 8 he fell asleep on my chest . All hell broke loose when I tried to move him to his cot after about 30mins. I couldn't cough/breathe with him there plus I needed some space IYKWIM. Well should have left him there as he ended up screaming for ages and I fed him at 10. HE finally settled after some panadol for about 2 hours. I don't regularly do that but he is so tired and won't settle plus we weren't sure if his throat was sore.
Is anyone else having issues with their bub settling (Mel I think you are?). Ethan used to be pretty good but now just doesn't want to sleep at all. Is 10weeks a growth spurt? I don't think it is but LOs don't always go by the book. At least DH can give me a hand today.

Luey: My combat class went really well. I'm not nearly as unfit as I thought I was! I didn't need my puffer at all which I thought I would. It was hard but great fun! So glad to go back! My legs, shoulders, arms and tummy were all sore the next day and still a bit sore today but definitely a good kind of sore :) The worst thing about it was my stupid huge boobs. I spent much of the class holding them to make sure they didn't whack me in the face (I want my nice moderately sized boobs back :(!!)!! I'm sorry that you are having so much trouble with E :( Hope you have a heaps better night tonight. Yay for DH being home. Mine has the day off but has been out or doing other stuff so it's just like any other day really...oh well.

Good morning everyone,

I'm waiting for Cam to wake up ... he woke grizzling just after 6am and as DH was already up and getting ready for work, he changed his nappy and put him back in his cot till I was ready to feed him. I got up just after DH changed Cam and did the usual morning ritual (loo, clean teeth etc) and by the time I went to get him he was sound asleep again. Here we are almost an hour later, and he's still in the land of nod. At least I've had my brekky and had a chance to get on the computer.

Hope you all enjoyed your long weekend. DH and I had a lovely time on the gold coast. Sooo nice to get away, and it was fab that DH could spend lots of quality time with Cam.

Ahhh... Cam has just woken. Looks like I'll be finishing my post a bit later.

CM - how good are you, lady! Body combat classes indeed! Wish I had half your enthusiasm about the gym :D. We have a decent treadmill at home, but I'm keen to get out of the house for a daily walk. Yay about the puffer. I get a bit of asthma and although it's not bad, I always need to use my puffer before any strenous exercise.

Luey - sorry to hear Ethan has been out of sorts and that you're not getting much sleep. No idea about a 10 week growth spurt. I've only 'seen' Cam have one growth spurt at about 5-6 weeks, I honestly couldn't say if he's had another one since. I know when he was having his growth spurt he fed about every 2 hours and he was unsettled for a couple of days. To this day he hasn't had a repeat performance, although he's continued to grow at a good, steady rate. Good luck.

Becstar - how did your night with DH and Jake go? I know what you mean about DH missing out on some communication with DS. Cam and I natter away all the time during the day, but by the time daddy gets home from work, Cam is starting to wind down and is never as chatty. That's why I'm so pleased they had some quality time together this weekend. Daddy got to see what a chatterbox his son is! I hope you're feeling ok again now. By the way ... YES, I'm already thinking baby #2. I'll be 36 in Dec and that clock is definitely ticking down ... Not too sure I want anything to happen for a few months but would like to think I'll have had #2 (or have one on the way) by the time I'm 37.

Melinda - how is James? Did you get your floorboards down at the weekend? Hope you were able to avoid Emily's lurgy.

morning girls,

im feeling pretty ordinary this morning, i fed James at 11pm (was still up then) then he woke at 2am 5am and was up for the day at 6 am ! we are off to tresilllian tomorrow so hopefully things will start to improve then !

the childcare centre rang yesterday saying they had a place for Emily starting one day a week from next thursday, im a bit nervous about her going but i think she will enjoy it, im sure she is bored being at home with me most days (especially as we can't go far in the car with mr grumpy bum !) so will see how she goes there.

floorboards aren't down yet, because DH has been sick he hasn't been organised enough to do it, im hoping it happens this weekend as im sick of looking at yuk carpet !

Luey: how is Ethan going ? i dont think James has gone through growth spurts as such, he just eats all the time, will probably weigh him tomorrow seeing as though it has been 3 weeks since he was last done and the child health nurse was worried about him then, he has started to chub up a bit now on the legs.
is Ethan having short sleeps or not really sleeping much at all ? he may be getting overtired because the more tired they get the harder it is to get them down, seems silly really, sometimes we say to James why can't you just be like the cats and just snuggle down and go straight to sleep when you are tired lol

Andie: good to hear you have a great weekend away, i know what you mean about DH getting to spend some time with him and hearing him chat, James is very chatty early in the mornings but DH has gone to work by then and then on the weekend we run out the door sat morning for Emily's swimming lesson so its only sunday really he gets to see that side of him, although he will sit on the lounge with him and have a chat.
Emily has recovered from her bug and james and i avoided it, dh is still sick though.

i forgot to ask a question to the girls that are breastfeeding, how long do you feed for ? James does it really quickly now, max 10 mins each side but can be on and off again 5 mins, which is all very nice but it is a bit annoying to be woken for just 5 mins ! (i know that sounds strange and that 5 is better than 30 mins to be awake but i am still being woken) also he has started coming on and off on and off all the time, i know around this time they start to get distracted by other things but it is making me sore so once he starts doing that he is off for that feed

Hi Ladies!

I have managed to offload ALL the kids to my Aunty for a couple of hours so instead of vacuuming and sewing nappies I"m here posting on BB, LOL. I had an appt for my second CC vaccine shot and my Aunty offered to have them for a couple of hours...as if I'd say no! :D

I had my appointment for my IUD Mirena yesterday. Seems it should all be ok. I wasn't expecting any examinations so I had scarily hairy legs but had to have some swabs done to check for any infections and got my pap smear while I was at it too!! No sex for three weeks before the IUD which is making DH unhappy, LOL. It's just a precaution so as when the DR does a pg test on the day it is inserted she can be 100% sure that a negative result really is a negative result!

all is very average here, Jake slept through 3 nights and then stopped!! He has been waking around 1-2pm for a feed which is manageable. I kinda like that night feed as it's the only quiet time we get completely alone :shhh:. He hasn't been sleeping well during the days lately, will only last 20 mins at the most. So instead of letting him got to sleep in the bouncer I put him in his cot today. It worked!! :) He was a litle upset so I just leaned right over and put my face close, patted his big clothie bum, 'shhhh'd him and he went off to sleep for an hour! :woot: so I'm hoping this keeps up!

Mel I'll be waiting to hear how you go at Tresillian, good luck! Trying for the fourth?? LOL I have to get DH to even entertain the idea first!! :cryinglaugh: Not for a while....I'll wait until Jake's a bit older and teething and crawling etc and see if he's still a good boy!! He might well turn into a little devil turning me off forever ;) I'm sure Emily will love daycare, it might take some adjusting but if she's anything like mine, they love the break away, especially now with Jake we are super quiet and hardly go anywhere.

Catherine, you are amazing! I have no desire to be THAT good! How terrible is that on my behalf?? lol Congrats, you should be very pleased and proud of yourself. ROFL at your boobies.....mine are just so floppy and I've hardly even BF, imagine how bad mine would be!

Luey :hug: it is SO frustrating when you have an unsettled bub. Don't even feel bad about the panadol, when there is nothing else you can do it wont go astray. I know I've given it to Jake a couple of times also when I just don't know what else to do. My theory is that it might help calm him a little and let him rest....and me!! I'm not sure about the growth spurt thing either, I've been wondering the same about Jake. He has gone from being satisfied with a 120ml bottle every 4 (or so!) hours to wanting a 120ml bottle every 3 hours. I'd give him a bigger bottle but any more than 120ml and he drinks it but vomits it all back up again, if we stick with 120ml he finishes and doesn't vomit but it hungry earlier. So this is what we are sticking with. Anyhoo....what I was thinking was that it must be a growth spurt.

Andie I'm glad you had a lovely time away with DH. Much needed I'm sure. I understand you wanting #2 soonish for age reasons....I feel stupid though!! lol I've NEVER thought about another so soon after giving birth and for me my reasoning is that I don't feel 'done' (not a real solid reason I know!) and that I don't want to have #4 another 3 years down the track. If it's going to happen it need to be in the next year ( to get pg!) I may as well keep them all close. as they are now they are 4, 3 and 12 weeks.

My question to you all is...any signs of teething?? I'm thinking Jake is on his way....joy of all joys. Some days when he is unsettled he has red cheeks and lately when he doesn't have his dummy in he immediately stick in his fist to chew. He is dribbling constantly. I can see a tooth under his gum on the bottom but I can't feel it so it hasn't cut yet. It seems really early! I know Benji was about 4 mo and poor old Chloe was 18 mo!!!

Anyway I'd better eat my soup and vacuum...I only have 30 mins left!! Hi to all, Ren, Jo, Reenie, SG, Robbo :hello:

Hi mums,

Poor DH had his 4 wisdom teeth out earlier this arvo. Luckily the teeth were all through, so he only needed local injections. He was in and out of the chair in under 40 minutes :o!! He didn't even need stitches. Anyways, I think DH is feeling a wee bit sorry for himself (naturally) at the moment and I guess he will probably feel a bit worse before he feels better. Cam fell asleep on the drive there, stayed asleep in my arms while DH was in the chair and continued to sleep until we got home. What a champ :clap:.

Bec - other than wisdom teeth, no other teething problems in our household. Cam has become a bit of a dribbler of late ... and he's pretty handy at shoving his thumb or fingers into his mouth for a good old suck ... but no indications of any teeth yet.

Mel - how did you get on at tresillian? Hopefully you/James took plenty of positives away. I'm sure Emily will have oodles of fun at daycare - good luck with it. I've been trying to walk, but I probably picked a bad time to start. An older friend (in her 50s) has come up from Tassie for 12 days mainly to see Cam (well, Cam and me). She's not staying with us, but nearby. So I'm running around (in the car!) a bit catching up with her.

As for breastfeeding, for the past 4-5 weeks Cam has been feeding for about 20 minutes ... sometimes it takes a few minutes longer and occasionally less than 20 mins. And so far, there's no distractions when he's feeding, so he stays on. When we initially got the hang of BFing, it would take 45-60 mins to BF, but once Cam's sucking improved it takes half the time. My only BF issue is that Cam tends to get squirmy towards the end of his feed and his arms and legs start squirming around :rolleyes: - this sometimes causes him to pull off the boob. But so far it's not affecting his feeding.

Alrighty, I'd better go show hubby some TLC :).

I wish feeds would just take 20mins:rolleyes:. They still take 30-45mins here. I find ifhe just has a shortish one (appears satisfied) he needs a top up about 30mins later.We are slowly getting quicker. Overnight I am up for about an 45mins- an hour - by the time I faff around with nappy changes (notice the 'S', I had to change E twice this am,he pood in his nice clean nappy halfway through the second side or he needs a complete change as he has leaked through the nappy - big wee-er), have a big drink, maybe put a load of washing on (have front loader). I don't know the time just goes! Then settling him this am took another 30ish minutes. I think he was over sleeping by then though - he finally slept properly yesterday and continued to have lots of sleeps - at 5am I think he wanted to play. Not surprisingly I didn't, considering I didn't go to bed till 1130 despite E being in bed at 7! Oops.

How do you put your babies to sleep, Ethan has gone from being happy to be put down awake, wrapped and with a dummy to needing to be held to go to sleep. I am trying to figure out where I have gone wrong! I have been having sleep issues though.

Also how long are your bubs happy to play? How long are they content by themselves? E is still only happy for maybe 10-20mins, before he needs the dummy. I am trying to watch his sleep cues too, and put him down then. Sometimes after a bit of sucking on the dummy he gets happy again, hard to know. I have made the cardianl sin of comparing my baby with others with sleeping and contentedness when awake, of course he is coming up short at the moment. Admittedly he is far superior in everything else though:lol::redface:. My DH told me not to compare and I haven't done anythign wrong, it is just hte ay he is. I can't wait to get my hands on the Pinky Mckay books. I am hoping they will have the answers, may not though. But at least I will feel better that I can't let him cry himself to sleep. I just hate to hear him cry, even when he is awake. MAybe I need to let him cry though, when he is frustrated so he will learn how to do stuff. It is hard to know

Luey, I am the same, and still am with #3, I cannot do the crying thing. Nothing against it/wrong with it but I just can't do it. In my experience it just made my bubs all the more clingy and insecure. Don't feel bad at all about it. I've always ended up putting mine to sleep in my arms, then into bed, and into my bed if we have any problems in the middle of the night, and never had any real issues. In my mind it makes them feel secure and safe that I will be there if they need me. Having said that , we have had battles when getting them to sleep on their own when older (about 12-18mo). Now we have kids who go to bed on their own, sleep, occasionally come into ours for a cuddle but mostly sleep soundly in their own beds all night. BUT with Jake the last couple of days I've been making an effort to get him to go to sleep in his cot which has been going well. However I also know that if he begins to protest or if it starts becoming a problem I will most likely cave and go back to putting him to sleep in my arms. :lol: Such a pushover!

My point is do what you feel comfy with and what suits you. You are Mum and know best. There is no point going for a sleep routine that just doesn't sit right with you and will upset you too, kwim?? On the other hand if you are feeling you need help with a sleep routine by all means seek that help too. Just dont ever feel like you should be doing something you don't want to. A mothers guilt is such a burden! :) I do it to myself ALL the time. HTH
