sorry to hear about the roungh nights darlings! we had a good one!! i slept from 9 till 10:30 whil brett watched susie. then she fed on and of for an hour and a half and was asleep at 12:30...then woke up at 7!! woohooo!!! catching up on thesleep she missed the last couple of days i guess! is funny shes wearing 000 clothes that fit well and she has 000 clothes that are huge! the kmart brand 'hundreds and thousands' is really big!
linda - awesome news!! hope u preg by christmas!!! ooh i'm looking forward to christmas already!! I'm a christmas-a-holic, cant wait for susie's first one!!
auzzie - have fun at the gym! my first hour away was tough and she was with her dad lol!! hae been away two other times sincew for about an hour and it doesny really get easier lol
-
Im excited about xmas too, i cant wait to dress her up in an chrissy outfit
Linda - thats so exciting, what a great gift that will be if you are pregnant by chrissy
How did you go Auzzie at the Gym?
I cant seem to get Ella to nap in the arvo, she is sleeping great at night and had a good morning sleep but fights it in the afternoon
She has slept 9pm till 6am all week now
I find a big diff in the sizes too, some of the 00 are huge yet some fit her great
This weather is driving me crazy, we have been stuck in the house all week, lucky my mum is here this week to keep me company
We are going to a movie next week with our mums group, should be fun!
One of my friends says her little boy a month older than Ella uses the potty as she is toilet training him, this sounded so so weird to me
-
MrsC_Aussie - let us know how the carrier goes
tiggerlinda - great news about trying for a playmate for Charlotte - that is very exciting!
Our first Christmas with our bubs - we are going to go all out aren't we?!
Not good about the rough night for everyone :(
We had a sleep from 8pm to 2.45am back to sleep by 4am then up at 6am for another feed... Not too bad - it is a shame I don't go to bed at 8pm - could get a big sleep!
kellbell - we sleep in the afternoon and not really in the morning... yawn - good night sleep you guys have been having.
A movie day sounds fantastic, you will love that.
The potty already? Oh my gosh!
auzzie.chick - how was the gym? Feel refreshed?
-
Thanks everyone, the gym went well. Feeling really resfreshed it was good to have a break from bubs, but boy was I nervous initially. They ended up calling me out to the creche once because they thought he was hungry but turns out he was tired. I've booked him in for friday so at least we'll both get used to it, as I want to go see star trek at the movies and that means leaving him with his nanna for a few hours.
tigerlinda- that's great news about christmas, you must be so excited. i still find the thought of having a 2nd bub a bit daunting at the minute but i think that's just cos we ended up in a emergency caeser so it all felt a bit stressful at the end.
razrock- have you tried a roll-over feed, so trying to feed bubs at 10-11ish and then they might sleep through longer. our mchn suggsted it but we tried it the other night and bubs still woke at 2am :(
kellbell- i find that the sizes do vary quite a bit we're mostly "just" fitting into 00's think we're into O's soon, but then some 00's are quite big. think its like adult clothes varies from store to store and brand to brand.
i've put some books on hold at the library, sleep tight sleep right, save our sleep and no cry sleeping. See if the settling techniques work, my sis has used save our sleep-tizze hall but i don't think the routines would fit our family. has anyone read any of these?
-
hi all thanks for the excitment it may take awile though to fall preg but 1st appt is booked for july to make the final plans
we got flooded today and i was out so when the road was closed could not get back to home till 6
-
DD is getting her 2 month jabs tomorrow. Really nervous about it. I know I am going to cry. I have made the appointment in the afternoon so that DF can come too. Don't think I could handle it alone.
-
I know how you feel Jitterbug, i was a wreck. I was more upset then her, she only cried for a couple of minutes. I gave her baby panadol before we went, dont know if it helped, it made me feel like i was doing something to help her. Good luck with it tommorow
Im so happy to see the sun in brissie again today! Yipee
-
auzzie.chick - thanks for the rollover feed advice - will try that tonight for sure - it can't hurt to fill him up.
He finished a feed at about 8.10pm then was in bed 10mins after that and slept til about 3am - so that was pretty good, I was in bed by 10pm so had approx 5 hour block... He still likes to wake early after that feed about 6am! So by the time he went back to bed and actually slept it was after 4am, that is the yucky bit, having about 1.5-2hours sleep then he wakes... yawn.
There is a creche at the gym you go to? That is fantastic - so you are only minutes away... love that, although I would still be a bit nervous.
How did everyone elses night go?
I saw the pictures on the Net of the Brisbane floods - oh my gosh! I remember driving the from the Gold Coast to Brisi on the freeway in the rain and having to get off as it is so hard to see and drive - I can't even imagine yesterday!
I don't even want to think about jabs - we had the Tuberculosis jab in the hospital but haven't had any since, we are waiting til Edison gains more weight. There is no way I could go, I would cry! Good luck Good luck!
-
Kodi had her needles today & did pretty good.
JB hope Immy did well with her needles :)
-
We are up for jabs next week
I hope everyones bubs went well
We are nice and dry today
-
Just got back from the jabs. DD went okay. A little squeal and a bit of a cry but settled with a rock/cuddle and then fell asleep in the car on the way home. I still feel kinda awful, it wasn't fun but it wasn't too bad in the end either.
He also weighed her and she is up to 5.2kg which is 600g in 2 weeks. What a guts my little monster is!!
Glad to hear Kodi went well with her needles! Hope everyone else has a trouble free time with theirs.
Hasn't rained at all today which was a bit of a shock after the last two days. My car is nice and shiny from the rain which means I won't have to take it to get cleaned so that is a bonus! I have to park on the street so it is always getting dusty/dirty and being the victim random bird attacks!
-
glad to hear the lil ones have been doing well with their jabs so far! Susie has hers on the 11th June.
we had a good sleep last night...Susie slept from 12 till i got her up at 6:30(had to take dh to the trsin). then slept from 8 till 10:30 so I got lots of housework done!! i did wake up at 3 though csuse she was spitting up...she didnt wake up though..i picked her up and changed the sheet and put her back down and she was still asleep lol!
she's a really noisy sleeper sometimes though..is everyone elses? grunting and snorting etc lol
we have 6 week appointment with OB at 12 so that'll be fun not..will be having my first ever papsmear :s hope susie stays quiet while i get checked out! was hoping dh would come but he had meetings in melbourne today so couldnt work from hom e :(
hope you all have a good day!!
-
Charlotte is a grunting queen asleep
-
Oh yeah Ella is a noisy sleeper thats why shes out of our room
-
lol its just so funny isnt it!!!
-
hi all, i have been moving house this past week so havent been online. havent read through all the previous posts yet but hope everyone is doing well.
i am a little bit bummed at the moment. chelsea wont sleep properly! she is still screaming from 9pm til midnight and has done pretty much every night for the past 7 weeks, so i am getting a bit tired of it. also, she hates the car so each time we go in the car it is a screaming episode. she falls asleep fairly quickly on me but as soon as i put her down she is awake. the times when she doesnt wake straight away we get only one sleep cycle from her (40mins) which makes for a very cranky baby. i dont remember the last time chelsea slept for more than an hour!! i should be fine with it cause thats how hannah was, but i just feel like either i am doing something wrong or there is something in built in my kids that makes them this way. its really hard to hear about everyone elses babys sleeping really well.
sorry about coming back and having a whinge straight away, but i needed it.
anyway hopefully tomorrow will be better.
-
ohhh sweet have you tried wrapping Miss c is screaming from 9ish too atm we think it is wind build up so we are working with the infants friend a bit more and that seems to help.
also i ave started to burn a sleep blend of oils in the oil burner at night
we coslept last night so got 12-6 so can think abit today
-
Hollo
We are having the same kinda problem here, but it's a toddler who refuses to sleep & who thinks 4am is a good time to start the day.
-
Sorry to hear about all the troubles some of you are having! We had a rough day/night yesterday but I think it might have been due to the jabs since she seems back to herself today.
BUT... a big woohoo here... DD rolled from her tummy to her back for the first time today!! I was stunned because although she had been looking close for a while, I never expected her to suddenly do it. She has such a strong little neck and it is so amazing watching her learn. Tummy time is definitely my favourite part of the day.
-
Charlotte was almost thete this morning to JB thought I was imaging things but she gets sooo frustrated when she can't get over
:cheer: for Immy
-
I know exactly what you mean! I bet Charlotte will be doing it any day now!!
-
Hi Guys,
Alexandra was born on 6th April, 9 pound 13 ounces. The April 1st - 15th thread is really slow (only 30-something posts so far) and I have been following this thread since she was born so thought it was time to say hello. I think we're having a growth spurt at the moment - wanting to feed at least every 2 hours (3 hours at night) for the last 2 days which is a bit scary because she is already so big at 6kg.
I am on here most days so look forward to being a contributor (rather than just a reader  )
Justine
-
hi Justine!! welcome! Susanna was born 5th April but this was my due date group so i stuck with it!!
getting tummy time on the floor has been really challenging. she screams and cries....and then spits up when picked up! i gie her tummy time laying on my chest in my recliner but its not quite the same. will just have to keep persevering a fews minutes at a time i guess!
-
Welcome Justine, look forward to getting to know you & Alexandra :)
Yay to all the babies starting to roll, Kodi will roll to her side & then give up lol
Mrs C at least a few minutes is something ;)
-
hi justine, welcome.
we arent doing any rolling here yet. with the moving house and everything havent had much time to get her on her tummy. i do the tummy time on my chest too mrsC.
mo- you changed your name to phoenix! at first i was like who is that! :-)
how many mls are the kiddies drinking at this stage? i have givven chelsea a bottle a few times now and she only ever has 50-70mls. she then wants another feed (i give breast) an hour later. oh, and can there be a problem with constipation even if i have just given one bottle a day for three days in a row? she hasnt done a big poo for a while.
we are slighlty more settled at the moment. i just put her down on her tummy, so i am gonna see if that helps any. she is still waking every sleep cycle but it is now not so much effort getting her back to sleep.
-
Welcome Justine!
We had the growth spurt too - the close feedings don't last too long.
Edison doesn't like tummy time either - but we will keep trying and trying.
How exciting we have a few bubs who are nearly rolling over - great news! And YAY for Immy with a full roll!
Edison has been a bit clingy lately - anyone elses bubs?
He won't really sleep much during the day, maybe 40mins here and there until the afternoon when he will sleep maybe 2-3 hours, he then does a big sleep - about 7-8 hours at night which is great, when he wakes in the morning he drinks quite frequently, every 2 hours... So we are getting into a routine which is nice.
Hollo I am so sorry to hear about the sleep issues you are having.
I LOVE the swaddling as well, it really helps when he is overtired...I am sure you have tried everything though :(
I just wanted to say Good Luck and I hope it all gets better for you soon.
-
thanks raz, yep have tried swaddling, and yep everything else LOL. the thing is, sometimes (well rarely) she will self settle and fall asleep by herself in the cot so i know she can do it, i just dont know why she cant do it after each sleep cyle or more often. plus she slept for 4 hours straight a few weeks ago, so i know she can do that too its just really frustrating!
-
Welcome Justine
Well we seem to have Miss C's screaming calmed after much reading and discussion DH and I have agreed to give her Infants Friend every 2nd feed to help with her wind and the last 2 nights she has slept from about 9 I feed her at 12 and then 12-5 so far so hopefully my princess is now calming.
I am getting the most wonderful cuddles from my girl when she is upright in the close carrier and when she is on my belly :) She is also loving her sleep time in the peanut sling too. I think having her close is encouraging more sleep
We went for a walk today in the stolller and she happliy cooed and looked around it was fun for me too and looks like she will like it so walks here we come.
Ohhhh and on her playmat today she grabbed the ring on her gym and tried to pull it her mouth! It is soo cute to watch her hand curl around and grab it. She is growing up soo fast.
Miss C is only a Tummy Time on Mums Chest fan too will do a few seconds on the change table but the rest is with me
I am more in love with my girl each and every day
:hello: everyone sorry for the mememe post
-
Doh. My reply got eaten!
Anyway, the gist of it was:
Welcome Justine!
DF is working nights (which sucks) but we have a long weekend coming up and it coincides with him going from night shift to afternoon shift so he finishes one week on Friday morning (6am) and doesn't go in again till Tuesday afternoon (2pm) -- essentially a 4 and a half day weekend!!
DD is the opposite of clingy! She just loves laying on her mat (tummy or back) and sitting in her rocker. We just got her the mat (it is one with arches over it that has dangly, noisy things and lights, music and a mirror etc) and she can't get enough of it. I sneak hugs whilst she is sleeping, though.
Sucks that so many are having a bit of a rough time at the moment. I really hope it is brief. DD still has her nights/days which are fussy but they are becoming rarer. One thing is that now she is in such a playful mood, feeding time is becoming a bit of a challenge. I have to make sure their are minimal distractions!
 Hopefully everyone didn't have too bad of a night and has a lovely day today!
Someone was talking about constipation... Hollo, I think? DD is only breastfed so can't offer advice re: formula but she can go a few days without a bowel movement. We got a bit worried when it had been 4 days and nothing substantial so we went to the doctor who said it is fine -- it is more the consistency than the frequency. She now just does an extremely large one every few days and the occasional small ones in between. As long as they are still soft and unformed, I wouldn't be too concerned but you can always ask your MHCN if you are!
Oh and linda, I know how you feel. It is so wonderful watching them grow and learn, isn't it? Part of me wants DD to grow faster but part of me wants her to slow down and stay my tiny bub forever haha.
I *think* that was it. Take care all xo
(Sorry if this double posted, I keep getting errors)
-
Grrr I just lost 2 posts!
The first one was a mammoth post with personlas, the second was a short version & this one, well, I dont have the time to do it all again!!
Noah is going well now we have had a few probs with him, he has allergies & eczema, & is now on a special formula & is only allowed 2 BF's a day. Has been a hard time but all is well now & we finally have no more spewing, rashes or temps!!
He is such a happy & content baby now always smiling & babbling & he gets a real squeal going when he gets really exited.
Welcome Justine!!
I hope all the mummies & babies are doing well.
ETA I'm so luck I copied & pasted this one cos it went mia as well.......
-
Hi Ladies,
Had trouble posting yesterday.. kept getting errors too...
Got an un-clingy baby this week, totally different from last week! - loves the bouncer and watching tv in it and also the playmat (back or side only, still doesn't like the tummy) When it is time to sleep though he does love a cuddle which is cute.
Jitterbug - YAY for the long long weekend, that will be so nice for you all.
I bottle feed Edison and have dealt with lots of wind and also trouble pooing - but not pain with poos... We burp during a feed and after a feed and make sure we get one, we are also boiling up 30mls of water and steeping a chamomile teabag in it and feeding him 5mls each feed - he feeds about 6 times a day. This just doesn't make it as hard to poo which is nice for him, helps the digestion etc... We have the chamomile tea in a bottle and just let him have a few sucks then straight into the bottle of milk... seems to be working for us so far... He poos once a day and it is quite solid, different from breastfeeding.
Tiggerlinda - oh yeah, we had wind trouble, love the drops! We still use them every now and then when Edi is just really unsettled and if I notice the burps aren't as frequent.
Oh wow - grabbing rings and giving cuddles - that is so exciting!
Storm - Glad to hear Noah is going well, it must have been awful for you, but so fantastic to see him all happy and content now- that is the best
Hollo - The 4 hour sleep is promising! Edi went through a period of not settling after the 40mins as well, I would pat and cuddle and rock the cot everytime he couldn't settle and that went on for a week and a good 5 times a cycle, but now he is pretty good - Thank goodness... I hope it gets better for you.
Edi now wont sleep in his cot during the day so falls asleep in his bouncer for an hour - I tried to move him but he wakes and gets upset in the cot so I just leave him now.
We are feeding Edison approx 800mls of goats milk formula a day - little piglet - sometimes he overflows though. He will drink around 120-150ml a go.
:)
-
yeah there is problems with BB today. instead of using the quick reply you should use 'post reply' apparantly there is more succcess in keeping your posts when doing it that way.
so are most bubs having around 120mls of bottle at the moment? that would mean chelsea taking 50-70mls isnt really enough hey?
she did a massive poo yesterday arvo, soooo big it escaped everywhere. it wasnt watery but it was definately liquidy. hope its not the runs.
whats the major problem with tummy sleeping and SIDS., anyone know? is it a suffocation thing, not being able to turn head off mattress? or something else? cause Chelsea does seem to sleep better on her tummy and she has no problem turning her head. but i still worry.
-
Hollo, Noah downs 200ml each feed! Hmm wonder if that's too much?
With the SIDS, it's a suffocation issue I think.
-
well we had a very rough day yesterday, poor susie ery upset tumnmy .. i had lasagne followed by a lil bit of ice cream for lunch sunday so confident her tummy still isn't able to cope with me having dairy. wil bring it up at GP next monday.
today been better! went to infant massage class this afternoon which was great :) weoghed her and she's 10lb7oz (4.75kg)...which is 250g a week over last 2 weeks!!
-
We've been going to baby massage too and it's been fantastic. Alexandra has had some wind and belly troubles and I think that the colic massage routine combined with nice warm baths has made a huge difference. We haven't tried any drops or anything, DP bought some dill and was going to make a tea but she seems to have gotten alot better.
She hates tummy time as well but doesn't seem to mind being on her belly laying across my legs during a massage. I tried to put her on the change table facing out today so she could look at me and that managed to delay the screaming for a minute or two
With the tummy sleeping and sids, apparently it's because their airways are more restricted when they are on their bellies - so more likely to choke if they vomit. One of the babies from our baby massage class stopped breathing during the week because he was sick and had a cough, luckily they had motion pad monitors and the alarms went off. He had to spend the night in hospital on oxygen. Gave me goosebumps listening to the story - very scary.
We also got a package from DP's parents yesterday full of clothes which was very exciting, like having a baby shower all over again! They live overseas and will be visiting for the first time in a few months.
Hope that all the bubbas have had a settled day with good sleeps and lots of smiles
-
Sorry to hear Susie had an upset tummy :( Food can be such a pain in the butt sometimes and trying to figure out what it was - looks like you know it is dairy which is good though. Fab weight gain
I don't think 200ml is too much for a feed, I am sure we will get up there soon, overnight Edison only drank 80ml a go, but filled up before bed, I think it all evens out in the end, Hollo - how much is Chelsea drinking a day?
Great to hear Alexandra loves the massage routine and yay for not having to use the drops - that is so good... I give a mini massage myself and do the clockwise circles on the tummy to help with digestion, but I might think about going to an actual class...
How scary about the bub with a cold - poor little mite :( We have the pad with the alarm as well, but I would still be scared!
We have a standing fan right next the change table which keeps Edison amused and also a black rectangular container that holds his nappies that he stares at during a change.
-
Hi Guys
Sorry I have been MIA for ages! Had a heap of family visiting and some internet problems...but all sorted now I hope :)
I know Ive missed a heap of personals....I will try to catch up when I can! Great to see some new faces in here :) such a chatty little group we are :) It fabulous!!
Someone was asking how a big a bottle bubs were taking.....Josh is downing about 180ml each feed (so roughly 1000ml per day) what a little piggy!!
Anyway someone is starting to wake up so I better go......I hope everyone is getting some regular sleep now and bubs are settling better :) The baby massage sounds really interesting, would love some more info on that :)
Hugs :)
-
Since saying he has 200ml, he has only been having 150-160
Taking Noah to the dr today, he has 2 strange lumps on the back of his neck.I am really concerned as to what they are.
I hope it's not allergies to this special milk, or cos I still do BF him as well.
Will find out soon.
Hope you are all having a nice afternoon & didn't go too insane with BB's downtime.
-
Kodi had her 8wk check-up & is doing well. She's 58cms & 5.1kg now.
Jo hope everything with Noah is ok.
-
we are in for 8 week check up next week
missed you all
