Hi all
Geez it was so hot here today, went and rode the horse it really knackered me. Summy had her needles Fri plus wasn't well the day before and Paige has a horrid cough so a few sickies here, I'm not sick just feeling very tired and drained. Summy is in bed so i'm going to have a glass of red.
Nothing too exciting to tell here, really looking forward to the school hols just bum around and not have to rush to and from school, all the girls are tired and need the time off.
Anyway hope you are all well

Jazz had her first bubble bath today and also she was fully sitting up. I took the reclining bath seat out and put an upright seat in. She spent the whole time looking down at the bubbles around her not quite sure what to think of them. She didn't have a good day time nap today. A couple of short "cat naps" only. She tried some baby yoghurt today as well. Seemed to like that. I mixed in a bit of fruit puree to the yoghurt and she liked it even more.

Hi all. Had a bit of a crappy day today. I don't think I got the chance to be hung over. Too busy worrying about my silly DH who went for a drive with a few mates.
Thay are all alive, so I stressed for nothing, but geez!
Got Jaz's school photo's yesterday. She looks so grown up!
Finally got the right parts for the car!!!! Just gotta get them in & we should finally have a rego'd car! Yay!!
Poor bubba's & their needles. Jesse slept real good after his. I think he had about 3 hours sleep just after. His naps are normally 1 - 2 hours, 3 times a day.
Hows everyone's weekend going? Hope you are all having a better one than me! So tired. 2 kids down & one to go. Then I have to get into bed next to DH who passed out sideways! Its either that or drag the mattress out again. I'm NOT waking him up.
Have a great Sunday guys! Night.

skye - bugger about DH.. he must be feeling sorry for himself today.

are you making ur own juice?
-
Will has sort of cut himself down t 4 maybe 5 full ff a day he has 3 meals and water after each feed.
Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm how good does that spring air smell..cut grass and blossoms everywhere I love this time of year
-
Mj is having lots of feeds still...
0800, 1030, 1.30. 4.30, 6pm, 7pm, 8.30.
She is having 2 meals usually, breakfast and dinner (9ish and 4.30ish) sometimes she has lunch but isnt really that interested.
I havent tried her on any juice (and she hates water) yet.... i have a juicer, maybe i should start making my own. I have loads of peaches in the summer as we have an awesome tree so she may be a lot of peach combos :)
Bron i love the spring air, i love walking this time of year and gardening.
About sto start a veggie garden in the next coupple of weeks... just have to plan how big we are going to make it, but think its going to be 2 x 4m, woo hoo cant wait to grow my own stuff :)
-
Jazz normally has one bottle first thing in the morning (6:30am), 3 at day care as wel as 2 solid feeds and then she may or may not have a bottle before she goes to bed at night and will usually have a bottle some time between midnight and 3am.

I started this thread about a week ago. Jesse is still getting back into solids after being sick. He's not as into them as he was yet.
He's feeding every 2 - 4 hours depending on the day & anywhere from once to 3 times depending on the night. Usually only once or twice.
Anth was that tired that no matter how much noise there was he wasn't gonna wake up. Vacuuming is a good idea for next time though. i usually shut the door so the kids don't wake him up & I don't have to deal with his fowl mood.
I go wake him up eventually though. Not nicely either. I get the sh*ts & go in there yelling. Or I open the door & start banging things around & yelling at the kids right next to the bedroom door.Well not yelling at them, but I'll stand there when I yell to them to come inside.
He's offered to wash up & cook tea tonight though. He knows he's pushed me too far over the last few days. It won't change my mind, but I'm not gonna say no!
8 years & I think this is the first time he's offered. I'm still not 100% sure it will happen, but maybe. If I get sick of waiting I'm taking the kids to the Bowlo for the Sunday night specials.
Will let you know what happens.
BTW - I would be loving spring but its so hot! It was 33 yesterday, about 29 today. I turned the air con on yesterday coz it just got too much. The girls had fun in the sprinkler though.
-
Just wondering...Anyone else given prawns yet??
Jesse's having some now & loving them. The little frozen ones, just defrosted, not re cooked or anything. DH is a bit worried about food poisoning, but I defrosted them in the fridge so they should be ok huh.
-
Tried giving Jazz some pieces of carrot today. She bit a big bit off and started choking on it but I quickly stuck my finger in her mouth and scooped it out. Then we roughly mashed it up and tried giving it to her. She wasn't happy that it wasn't puree and she sort of played with it in her mouth and then spat it out. Matt was showing her how to chew and then swallow so he thought he'd try and get her to copy, but she just thought it was funny and kept poking her tongue out with the food coming out so she could laugh at Matt.
-
Danni - They do gag on foods. They have a natural reflex to bring them up though.
If you are worried that she's not getting it up you are better off picking her up & leaning her forwards over your arm & waiting for her to get it up herself.
Don't thump her back unless she is actually not breathing. If she is coughing what ever is it is not obstructing the airway, if you pat their back there's a chance it will lodge in there & cut off oxygen completely.
I also heard its not a good idea to put your fingers down their throat coz if you do it can send the throat muscles into shock & they can close up. Not too sure about the last one, but its probably best to avoid it.
In the mouth is fine, but not down the throat iykwim.

Hey girls,
argggghhhh talk about teething or growth spurt I don't know but argghhhhhhh I wish these teeth would hurry up. The only thing settling DJ at the moment is nurofen for babies.... not even panadol was helping..... no fever, just rubbing his gums like he is in pain. I am using teething gel, everything I can think of...... He is waking at 1-2am and for a feed as well, so he is hungry, been doing this for weeks now..... can a growth spurt last for weeks and weeks???
I am putting him in childcare starting tomorrow, for 2 days per week, so hoping that will work but he is really unsettled during the day so I am kind of worried they will tell me to come back another time with him arghhhhh
Sorry I don't have time for personals. My day off today and I have heaps of things to get done. Housework is sooooo far behind...
chat soon

SHell has Dj had an orientation to day care? eg spent a few hours at a time there to get used to the environment. Be warned if he is really unsettled they may well call you to come get him until he is used to it all. BE sure to let them know what sort of night he has had and how you settle him or use gel etc and find out what their policy is on using it and giving neurophen. If he has not got a temp they are not permitted to give over the counter medication to settle for pain.( well at least we arent and I am sure i fyour centre is accredited they wont either)If you do give him a does before he goes to care be sure to let them know that oo it really can help staff handle the children during the day if they are for warned with as much info as possible
I think its a bit of a phase with this age..WIll gets more unsettled and frustrated and it seems sometimes bored and just wanting me in his face constantly. He is growing and moving so much he is such a wriggle bum all the time in our laps and on the floor and soooooo much more vocal. His gums are giving him curry and still no teeth here either. Am sorry you are having such a rough time I hope it is just a phase for Dj
-
quick one - been tired.
shell - sorry to hear dj's so not settled. their tooth seems to take forever doesnt it.
im going to see my naturopath on friday, to get some homoeopathic teething tissue salts for poopy.
bron - that;s good advice re day care. am definetely going to send poopy to ncac accredited ones.
im also thinking of sending him to occasional care, but they are not accredited, so feeling a bit iffy.
tresillian said they havent got the details yet as it takes 5 working days for the main centre to process the details. so they will let me know/or i ring on thurs. and it coudl take several months to get a place..
anyway went to a pnd support group up at hornsby heights which is a fair drive but it was really good. the mums were very welcoming and it was just lovely. there was a lady who was a cousellor as well and i had a good chat to her. she suggested somethings that were better than my counsellor.
hehe and poopy was on the playmat with another bub, she's 6mths. he moved towards her and started to kiss her hand.. LOL, is this boy cheeky or wat!
sorry for lack of personals.. am starving, my 2min lunch was interupped by a grizzly bub.

Prama ask the child care centre you will send lakshman too if they have any occasional care spaces. I know we offer one in each room and this can be a great introduction to the environment and also give you a break They are often only half day sessions though so be mindful of that. I will start to take WIll for visits at the beggining of December and also the week 2 weeks I go before I go back to work he will do several few hour stints and th eoccasional sleep stint before I start back. Most centres will reccommend an orientation so try to allow yourself time to do this it can make the pearents feel alot more comfefortable with how the place works too and get a feeling of staff.
Anybody else going back to work and not registered at a centre yet? or family day care? Under twos is the highest demand for care and always fills up fast. Our centre has no new families at all enrolled next year becasue the siblings got preference and it filled up so quick.
Child care can be a rude shock for some parents and a little hard to adjust to all the policies, expectations of you etc so be comefortable with where you go.
Few other things to remember..when your child is sick you may like your own job be asked to provide a doctors certificate before they can go back to work. Keep them away for a certain time if they are ill etc. You will be asked to pay for these days or sometimes half fees. You are only allowed so many abscences per year before child care benefit is affected so ask all these questions. You do have to pay for public holidays and possible holding fees and even if you dont start work till say mid january and the centre opens begning of Jan like mine I Still have to pay from when they open. Child care even community non profit ones still have to run as a buisines and pay staff etc..a lot of parents thinks it rude having to pay when they dont use the service but thats the way it is.Weigh up the cost of care that provides meals etc to ne that doesnt the conveinince is enormous.
Sorry for the child care rant its just been on my mind the past few weeks as I have to apply for 2 days a week soon and do all my enrollment forms. I am lucky I am guaranteed a spot becasue I am staff but I know its so hard for a lot of peoples.
Man was it windy here today not much rain but gale force winds I was waiting for the wicked witch to appear under the house it felt like it was gonna take off.

Re child care. Make sure you visit a few places and compare their fees and facilities. You have to be comfortable with the surroundings. When Jazz was going to the child care centre, I sometimes felt like I was being judged and felt like things I was doing for Jazz were wrong. Don't let anyone make you feel like you're wrong. My mum told me that in most cases, a mother's gut instinct is correct, even for first time mums.
Also, find out what the centre/carer's philisophies are and how they discipline and things like that. Ask under what circumstances would they call you (eg: before administring medications, when child is sick etc). Ask what time frame you would have to pick the child up if they had to leave early due to illness. Some centres are very strict which may also affect the location you choose. When I was doing research before I gave birth, a few centres said strictly 30mins from the time they called to when you had to be there...At the time I worked in the city and the centres were close to home. It would have taken me close to an hour to get there.
