Oli's Mum - i've been using pawpaw cream on Rubys' bottom, has cleared up the redness very quickly.
Mto3 - you baked? Well done!!! That is something that i havent been able to do, cooking dinner is hard enough :)
Holly - good luck with the paed.
AFM - mothers group yesterday went ok. Although in the long term i dont think that it is my thing but i'll stick it out for the next 5 weeks and go from there, Ruby had her 4 week check up today, she now weighs 4.1kg and has grown 3.5cm in 2 weeks.ANd today she had tummy time and turned her head right around. This week we'll aim to get into the garden and do a tidy up as next week it feels like it will be 'babysit Ruby' week. Monday i'll leave her for the 1st time with my SIL to sit in hospital whilst my best friend has an operation and Wed i have been summons to work to meet my new CEO so Ruby will be with my Mum. I guess leaving her had to happen at sometime before i went back to work. She is just sooo cute.
Hi to everyone and i hope you all have a good night. xx

We use sudacrem for nappy rash, works a treat. I used it on J last week and it cleared the redness up after one use.
Holly, hope you find an answer for Leon's reflux. Maybe if you keep going to the chiro. We went today adn I know we now have to go regularly for a while. DD2 was the same, although it might be too slow (and expensive.... that's our challenge).
Well, J seems to have more wind since coming home, but he has slept! The chiro said he had subluxations for sleeping, bowel, immunity etc, so glad we have been. I am also cutting out dairy and a friend told me today her little one had the explosive poo's (like J) and it was an intolerance to dairy. the mum drank it and the proteins came through in breastmilk. DD1 had a dairy intolerance, so going to try to avoid dairy (I say try because I accidentally had a yoghurt before....but have bought soy milk so at least my tea will be non dairy).
Terrible night, here's hoping for better.
How is everyone doing?
Samm, it's hard leaving bubs at first, but it is nice to know you can do it, and that Ruby can too. Nice for your SIl and mum, they'll love it!! xo

Hi all,
Thanks for the advice on the red bum. I tried a sample of Bepanthan that i was given yesterday and today its gone! May stick with that for now. I have been using the paw paw cream on the milk pimples that are coming out now and that seems to be doing the job - thats the part i hate, my cute little man with spots! I think it may be the stone fruit and grapes i was eating re the explosive poos. The clinic nurse came today and she said some sugary fruits give the extra wind A has been having and to stay away from grapes. She also said that a sugary diet contributes to wind, i explained i thought i was being really good but i have been having a fair amt of fruit and she also reminded me that carbs turn to sugar so my weet bix, toast, bread on sandwich, pasta, potatos etc is turning to sugar. This with fruit juice is probably a bit much so i have to really watch it now.
Also, i got a friend to pick me up the Save Our Sleep book today. Had a quick look over it this afternoon. She seems pretty strict with the routine thing - will see how we go. I would love to get the nights in some kind of routine especially, we are just so sleep deprived. How are you all going through the night now? How often are you feeding and sleeping? Seems like i am up the whole time. Last night we put him in between us just to get some down time.
Well, DH just drove in so i am off, hope its a good night for all tonight.
Happy 4week b'day Jasper!!!

Holly how are you going? Don't worry about personals, just come and say hi when you can. Here's hoping that things will settle down for you soon, the early part is the hardest.
Samm my mothers group was a much larger group to begin with and like i said it's not for everyone, there's only 3 of us now but we catch up regularly and love it. It's worth going for the health nurse part of it though. You're so ambitious (sp... too tired) with getting out in the garden and tidying up, i need to but just dont' have the time or the motivation right now. I've barely cleaned the house...
M23 i have intentions of baking too... to occupy Aidan. I bought a cookie packet mix and i thought i'd try and make them with Aidan one afternoon.
Oli's mum you must be relieved to get some useful information about food and breastfeeding. We've had a pretty hard night and i've had a really hard day and i just feel so responsible. I've been trying to find some useful info on the internet but it's really hard. Charlie barely slept and hour at a time all day and he has been really squirmy and windy which he's normally free of during the day. I've had a hard day.... And now i feel quite sick in the stomach after seeing what you wrote about the carbs, i just had a bowl of pasta, tuna and cheese for dinner. Boring as anything but i didn't want to eat the rissotto i made because there was garlic in the stock i used. Now i'm wondering what we're in for... I have weet bix every morning, i did while i breastfed Aidan also.
Charlie is asleep at the moment and it's 4 and a half hours since his last feed, i'm not going to wake him though because this is the best sleep he's had all day and since before 2am this morning. Aidan was terrible this morning, really naughty but i struggle to keep a straight face when i'm telling him off, he looks at me and i just melt. I think that's it for me, i'm too tired to think now. I'll be in bed soon i think
Hope you are all well and i hope things improve for us all soon

Hi Girls!
Sorry for not posting much, I have just been enjoying having time with DH while he is on holidays as he goes back to work next week. I have been lurking though!
Noah is growing so quickly, and has put on 400gm since he came home from hospital last thursday, and is nearly back to his birthweight.
We are extremely blessed with his sleep routine, and last night he slept from 10.30 pm until 8am, and the 3 nights before that he went to bed at about 9pm and he only woke once during the night for a feed and went back to sleep until about 10am.
He cluster feeds during the day though, and is quite awake from lunch until late afternoon.
The MCHN said it was fine to let him sleep so long at night as he is gaining weight so well, and is obviously getting enough during his cluster feeds during the day. I am not expecting this routine to last though, and I am sure that I will have some sleepless nights coming soon!! The MCHN also said he may be a great sleeper because he is a bigger newborn bub.
I have also been giving him quite a long warm bath every night right before bed, and let him float away in it for a good 10-15 minutes or so as he loves it, and this seems to really settle him well. We also have him in his cot in his room (it is directly across from our room, and we leave the doors open, so it is like being in our room anyway), which is so different to what I did with DD, as I always had her in a basinette right next to my bed.
M23- I hope the chiro helps J sleep. Good luck with the non dairy diet, it is a hard one, DD is non dairy.
Kirst- It is hard telling them off when they look so cute! I have been letting DD get away with some things that she normally would not because I feel guilty about the time I am spending with Noah!
Oli's Mum- Bepanthan and Pawpaw were my miracle creams for everything last time with DD, and are the only creams I use! We are feeding every 2 hours or so during the day, I guess to make up for the feeds he misses out on at night.
Samm- I am glad you enjoyed Mums group! Have you got child care sorted for R for when you return to work? Noah already has a place at creche for one day a week. I had to take it now, because they are like GOLD! I won't go back to the salon for 6 weeks or so though, and will only go back for one day for a while. The lady that is in charge of the Babies room at my creche is my dear friends mother, and is like another grandmother to DD, so it will make it much easier to leave Noah when the time comes, and I will go and feed him in between clients also.
Holly- I hope you find some solutions for Leon's reflux.
Well, I am off to read a book in bed. I hope everyone has a night full of sleep!
-
Hi all,
Kirst - am in a similar boat to you i think. As for the carbs, obviously we have to eat them for energy etc and i am a huge believer in NOT cutting out carbs where so many diets advocate it. The point she was making to me was that we are getting sugar more than is actually obvious. I am still eating weetbix (with a spoonful of psyllium husks on it for roughage and digestion) and will not cut out other carbs, will just be more mindful of how much i have had each day. As for finding stuff on the internet, there is a site called cradle2kindy which you can register with and they send out a weekly letter with heaps of tips. There is also a free downloadable "book" which was full of really helpful information. Take a look at it and see what you think. I just saved it and refer back to it when i want reinforcements! Oli has been naughty this week too. I don't know how many times i have asked him to LISTEN! Although this morning when A woke up and began to cry i walked in to find Oli rocking him gently in the cradle and very gently patting him. A stopped crying straight away - i felt so proud of his big brother.
Cindy - WOW - thats a monster sleep. Take advantage of that, i really hope it continues for you, i am aspiring to join you in that asap!!!
A went down well this morning really well so i am off to catch up on things around here.
Calm vibes to all the bubs for a day where they will be kind to us mums... xxx
-
Just popping in before i head off to bed.
Mhami - how did your newspaper interview go?
Cindy - thats great news about your childcare placement for Noah and it amkes it beeter that you know the lady that will be looking after Naoh there. Make sure though that when you go back to work that you dont get sucked in to doing more than you want/should. I am lucky that Mum is my childcare. She loves babies and i had no choice in the fact that she wanted to look after Ruby when i returned to work, so between Mum and my SIL being available i am very lucky.
Hi to everyone else that has posted.
Today was a great day - i have 4 hours of uniterrupted gardening. Mum took Ruby this morning, along with my 4 yr old nephew and 1 yr old niece and shooed me off to Bunnnings. I worked like a trooper planting standard roses, standard gardenias and azalea's, fixing my sprinkler system and pulling out weeds. So now my hamstrings are tight but i now have a tidy low maitenance garden again :) Quiet day tomorrow as they are forecasting thunderstorms but i have a friend popping around in the morning for a quick visit. Will likely be spending the 'quiet' periods writing out birth announcement/thank you cards that arrived today.I might even chase up the church that still hasnt called me back......

Hi All,
My name is Jen and my son Ryder was born on 4th March. Would be really great to keep in contact with people who are going through the same things as me. I'm the only one of my friends who has a baby although many are preggo.
Thanks :p
-
Damn...lost my stupid post!
Sighh
Not much to report, basically said everything on the other forum Dayl set up, and wouldn't want to bore you all with the same old!
Had mothers group today and took L in the HAB as it's one of few ways he will remain settled. Went well! All the other babies were grizzling and crying and he stayed asleep! THey all reckon I'm lying when I tell them about how he is at home! LOL so typical. Lets hope he is like that tonight!
Have a good night all xox
-
Hi guys! :)
I'm Eloise and I had my twelfth!! :O child Rhys Alexander on the 14th of March!
Just popping in to say hello! Hope to get to know you :)
Eloise

-
Hi Jen & Eloise!
OMGoodness Eloise!! I don't think I can ever complain again about feeling tired & worn out now! Wow, well done - amazing lol!
ETA, prepare to be bombarded with all our questions as you are now offically the child expert!
-
Hi girls! Just popping in to say hello.
Hi Jen and Eloise!! congrats on your bubbas! Hope your labours went well.
Eloise - I agree with Holly - you're amazing girl! Will definitely value your input with all that experience!
Cindy - Great sleeps you're getting there!! We've had a few nights like that where Jacob "slept through" but he's back to a couple of feeds again lately.
AFM - We're getting Jacob weighed tomorrow at the CHC. He has been gaining weight slowly so they're keeping an eye on him. It's all a bit stressful at times as he has been quite fussy during some feeds - pulling on the nipple and BITING :o especially on the left (think the flow is slower on that side). There've been a few other issues too like thrush, some damage to the left side, expressing for a bit......yadda yadda yadda. Hopefully we're coming out the other side again. Feeding today has been much more comfortable and he has been a bit more settled.
Hope you're all doing well, enjoying your bubbas, getting enough sleep and getting outside!
-
Hi Eloise & Jen - welcome to you and your bubba's!!
Kaz - it sounds like you are coming through the other side with your feeding - well done lovie! I'm sure Mr J will astound the CHC with his weight gain!
Hi to everyone else.
Ruby is a little devil at night :) between 4 and 10pm she is just interested(which doesnt really bother me) in feeding and just dozing in my arms, if i put her to bed she wakes up within 3 mins and i ahve to go get herl. We have story time etc etc but this is the only time she fights going to sleep - does anyone have any tricks that they use?
http://b1.lilypie.com/RDAEp11/.png
-
Hey Everyone,
So i wake up during the night and am feeling stuffed up and achy...2 days before easter:doh: Am not feeling too bad now, but had a little look at my throat and it could go either way. I'm just so upset as we're taking Ryder back home to meet all our friends and i don't want to feel ****.
If i do get sick (thinking positive!) will my bubba get sick too?
-
Jen are you breastfeeding? If so Ryder should be fine. Hope you stay well though xo
-
Yes i am breastfeeding, am feeling a little better, have tried to get some sleep in today, but at least if i do get sick i've got our families around to help which is a bonus. Thanks for all your help and fingers crossed no cold or flu :D
-
Jen, make sure it's not mastitis - are your bbs engorged or red at all?
Had L's 6 week check today - he's put on 850g in 2 weeks which is quite a lot! MCHN reckons his feeding and weight gain should start to settle now and I sure hope so.
Quiet in here...hope all is well with everyone xox
-
Hi all, we are kind of quiet in here but we have our beautiful bubba's that are keeping us very busy. I'm tired and about to head to bed and get some sleep before Charlie wakes, just thought i'd say hi.
Hi to Jen Jen and Eloise, welcome and i look forward to sharing the stages our baby's will go through together.
Eloise i'm sure you hear it all the time but 12 is an excellent effort. You must be super organised and patient. Amazing... :)
Holly, Samm, Kaz everyone else Hello to you and hope you are getting some rest.
I've gone and gotten mastitis so i'm a bit sore at the moment, it's only a small area of boob that looks to be infected but i went to the doctors today and i got a jab in the bum and some antibiotics. I just hope it goes away quickly. Charlie had a strange day today, didn't settle after the 4:30am feed and was up until about 1ish (only slept in the car for a bit), with about 4 feeds during that time. Then he slept all afternoon, didn't wake until almost 6pm and fed and was back in bed by 7:30pm. I was thinking to myself it would have been great if that all happened later in afternoon and then he slept during the night, i could have gotten a whole 5 hours sleep!!!
Had the HN today and Charlie is now 9lb!!! Still only as big as some babies born but my gosh he's growing. We're going to have his hand and feet impressions done tomorrow, 1 month old just like Aidan's.
-
Must be going around..I've got mastitis again too! Had it in hossy and all the symptoms started again on Monday night...got the Ab so hopefully will settle soon :)
-
My sore spot has almost gone and i am feeling better. I went to the gp and they gave me an injection and ab. Really making sure Aidan empties me now but both sides is too much for him. I'll have to start expressing but honestly if i had to choose between expressing and sleep i'd choose sleep, we're getting so little...
Ellie i hope yours clears up quickly so you can enjoy the easter weekend. :)
-
Opps i wrote Aidan instead of Charlie.... Aidan hasn't bf for over 12 months!!!
-
Hi Guys,
Wow sounds like there's a lot of mastitis going around. I don't think i've got it though my boobs feel fine and soft no red spots and they don't look engorged. Every now and then when i'm feeding or after i get a shooting pain just for a second but apart from that all good. When i got up for the 2.30am feed i realised that what i think i have is hayfever...itchy throat and ears, runny nose etc. Does anyone know if you can take telfast when your breastfeeding?
We're off this afternoon back home, 3 hrs away to show off our little one and see our friends and family. Will be the first time sleeping elsewhere, hope all will be fine. Am looking forward to lots of babysitters so my hubby and i can maybe even duck down to a cafe and have a coffee together. Yay!!
Happy Easter everyone and hope your bubbas behave for you all
-
Hi girls,
It's pretty quiet in here. I hope you're all doing ok and getting some sleep!
Sam - It's really normal for babies to be unsettled in the evenings. We use a bubbamoe sling with Jacob and it usually works a treat and puts him to sleep while we get other stuff done (like dinner!).
Jen - Hope you're trip home and sleeping elsewhere went well! We'll be travelling overnight on Monday for the first time. I think there's a hotline number where you can check the safety of drugs in breastfeeding - can't remember the name of it but it was probably in your bounty bag.
Holly - I hope that Leon's weight and feeding has settled down a bit.
Kirst and Ellie - so sorry that you girls have had mastitis. Hope its all cleared up now! Kirst - Jacob had a really wakeful day yesterday too - fed 2 hourly and barely slept in between.
Speaking of which he just woke up!
-
Hi Kaz! Yeah it is a bit quiet in here.
Not too much to report - Ruby is getting bigger everyday and getting heavier! I am not looking forward to the 8 week injections but Mum will be with me for a bit of moral support and look after the both of us :)
She is fighting sleep at the moment (which is quite cute) so the poor little poppet is very tired in the evenings.
Speaking of which, she has just woke up again!
xx

Great Sleep
Hi Everyone,
Hope everyone is going well, my bub had the best sleep last night, i fed at 7.30pm, 1.00am and 6am...i've woken up like a new woman and can't believe he slept like that. He is a great sleeper with 3-4 hrs during the night but last night was awesome. Actually he's asleep again now. Am thinking that b/c i've got thrush on my nipples and breasts and he's getting oral drops that maybe the medication is making him a bit drowsy. Has anyone else had any experience with thrush? It's very annoying and so freaking itchy i just want to tear my boobs off LOL
Well we're moving back to our home town which is 3 hours away. After being there over Easter we both just felt that we had to go back. So my hubby got back and quit his job, and we gave notice on our house, so hopefully the people coming tomorrow will rent the house and it will all work out easy and simply (fingers crossed).
So is everyone else's little bundles starting to smile and coo more? Agreed on the injections samm am not looking forward to that either but good idea to take mum will do that.
Have a good week Jen and Ryder
-
Jen - I just realised last night that we had thrush AGAIN!! This is the second time for J and I. I'd never had it before and didnt' realise it could be a baby mouth/nipple thing. I've just been down the chemist today. Hopefully, catching it earlier this time means we won't be treating for so long. It is SO frustrating. I hate that evil yellow Nilstat stuff with passion!!! Great sleep you got!!
Samm - It's pretty normal for them to be unsettled in the evenings. Most babies will have one or two unsettled periods a day, and one or two unsettled days a week.
AFM - We travelled overnight on Monday. My Nan passed away last week and the funeral was on Monday. My MIL is coming to stay for a few days today (she hasn't seen J since he was a few days old) and then my sister is coming up for the weekend.
Hope everyone is well. Hugs to all.
-
We must all be busy with our bubs. I have to apologise as I haven't posted here since my introduction in March.
Hello to everyone. My DS is 10 weeks. I can't believe how the time flies!
Sorry to hear about your Nan, Kaz.
I hope everyone's bubs are well and that you are all getting enough sleep (ha!).
-
Hi all, just for those of you who don't know...we have another thread/forum we all talk on to continue from our original belly buddies as we didn't all give birth in March & wanted to stick together and not be separated by our dates, so I guess that's why there;s not much chatter on here! Just pm me if you want the link, can't post it here.
Hope you're all well! xox
