Hi Rachel!! I mentioned to my doc yesterday how people reckon Oskar is big for his age (which he isn't) and he said sometimes people just forget and compare girls to boys and boys are usually bigger. Grace is beautiful so I wouldn't worry :)
Ok... just added some pics and made a new album for 6 months +. The pic of Oskar in the outfit with the hood (6 months 6 days) and the one of him in the yellow, white and blue outfit (6 months 8 days)... they are both old outfits of Joshua's!! 14 years old...lol. The one with the hood I have a very similar pic of Joshua in it... I can't believe how different their face shapes are - I always thought Joshua had a round face as a baby but it is longer and it's not as round as Oskar's!! Oh and the yellow/white/blue... Joshua was wearing that when he was like 18 months old... surely he wasn't little or Oskar big... it's a size 0, makes me wonder if sizes have changed over the years??
-
OMG Cass, you kept something for 14 years!! good on you, when Renae hit about 9 i swore i'd never have another bub as i thought she was too old to have a sibling (how wrong was i!!??) But i had already thrown all there old things out! Mind you i was only 17 when Renae was born!
Quick question for all of you - So as my sig says we will be ttc in jan '08, i have named Emily, Emily Renae (as Em and Renae have different dads i thought this would help Renae feel more Em's sister ? or part of the new family - not left out i should say, is that dumb?) but anyway, what should i have for my next - if a girl - Renae again?

Hi everyone, I've been lurking for a while, trying to catch up what you've all been doing, but you're too busy and I can't read it all! So I'm just going to jump in and tell you what's been happening here, and I'll just let the news catch me up :)
Well, I'm finally on holidays and loving it. I'm not going back to work this year; I'll have a look and see if there's something for me next y ear, but right now I'm not that interested. With daycare and the stress of trying to work and be a fulltime mum I don't think the money is worth it! M's parents are talking about moving over from Qld and if they do and they live closeby then I might look at doing some relief or even go parttime. We'll see. Suffice to say, starting working fulltime is not ideal when your baby's not even five months old!
So we started solids and S was quite happy about it and then got fussy and started refusing it. So I just put it on hold until now. He's been having bottles at daycare and I was breastfeeding at other times - now I'm still giving him two bottles a day but hoping to bring that down to just b/feeding while I up the solids. So far pumpkin is go, although it took him a while to get used to it. Rice cereal started off well, but then he decided it was yuck, so I tried him on farax which he's OK with so far. Bought the Heinz apple custard and he went mental for the day, hardly slept, really quite full-on... then I tasted it, wow, talk about sweet! So I think I might just make my own stewed apple.
And today, he cut his first tooth! How exciting!! Bottom left, a tiny little sharp thing, which so far doesn't seem to be hurting when he breastfeeds, but I guess that's because his tongue goes over that part of his mouth.
Now that I'm back at home I'm looking forward to getting into a bit more of a routine as far as sleeping goes... he seems to be OK during the day but nighttime not so good. At least now I'm home all day it's not so exhausting - going to work on a 4 am start was pretty difficult, I have to say!
Anyway, I'm off to have a shower, finally! Have a good weekend everyone.
-
WOW sasha, Yay on s cutting his first tooth! that great! Im not at all interested ingoing back to work either, DP and i have agreed i wont work until dd#2 and #3 are at school (am im hoping for a supermrket only job - dont want to get into the big work place again, just cant be bothered now - not that there's anything wrong with that- just not right for me!) Sasha, its sooo good to heard from you!
Where's nattyg??????????
-
Wow, you're moving Caro, just within the state, I take it? I can only imagine moving with a baby... my sister has just sold her house and they're about to move to Canada for 4 months, her baby is just 3 months old on Sunday, a glutton for punishment I think!
-
Lol Shell, yes I did. I kept a few of his things which I just couldn't bear to part with!! I knew that one day I would have another bub though :)
Bec, it can be way too stressful huh!! I did it with Joshua when he was 9 months old and it was hard enough then! It contributed to our marriage breakdown (only a little part, but still did). I'm very happy to be in a better place in my life now and to be able to afford the time to stay with my little man at home. I am happy when he's a little older to work casual say 2 days a week or something but nothing full on for a while to come. Way to go on the little tooth Sebastian!!!
Caro, yup have your numbers... well will only need the mobile though ;)
-
Caro, hope your move goes well.
Sarah, thats great you found a nice day care for Xander and Ari, and even better they have vacancies! Are you planning on going back to work? We found a lovely one but they hve a HUGE waiting list. Big YAY about Aris sleeping, thats great news. Hope she keeps it up! hehe that she has to sleep naked.
Cass, woohoo for Oskar going to sleep on his own. Clever boy! Claire is going through a phase where she wants us to lie down with her until she goes to sleep. I like snuggling her but sometimes its in the middle of dinner and thats so not cool when I am starving!
Simone, Logan is such a cutie. They sure do grow fast!
Ok, just a Q everyone: how many solid meals are you giving your bubs each day? And when should you start increasing the number of solids meals each day? We're usualy having one or two attempts a day. I say attempts because she just collects the food on the roof of her mouth and them blows a raspberry so it sprays everywhere.
I bought some rusks for Claire but she doesnt seem too keen on them. She scrunches up her face when she puts it in her mouth. Its very cute, but I am wondering why she doesnt like them. It just tastes like a bread stick, LOL.
Claire sucks and chews on her socks as well. I'll put some on her and within minutes she'll be sucking on them making them all slimy from her slobber. She loves her teething ring though. It has to be particular one.. She only likes this one shaped like a fish (tommee tippee brand I think) which I got from Coles... She wont touch the other ones. Other thing she loves chewing on is her duds. I think thts DH's doing though.. When she gets cranky when he changes her nappy he sings a song about duds in the tune of the batman theme song, and gives her the pants she was wearing and she loves to play with them...
We went out and bought a new rug today at Ikea because I wrecked the other one.. the vacuum cleaner ate a chunk of it the other week. Claire loves new rug. Its so soft and bouncy and she was really enjoying touching it with her hands and face. We also got her a new toy. DH brought home an old keyboard from an ancient computer at work, and she LOVES presssing the buttons.
ok, well since we're putting stats up:
Claire is 6.7kg and 64 cm.
I'm sure she'll get big once she actually properly eats solids!
Hope everyones having a lovely weekend.

Hello all, well Ari has been a little unsettled again recently but seems (touchwood) to have settled tonight. I'm pretty sure it was more moving teeth, she won't let us put fingers in her mouth to check anymore but I can't see anything.
Hi Shell - great to hear from you. Yes I finally worked out how to put photos up and actually got on DH computer (where all the photos are) I love that photo of Em in your sig, she looks so grown up. Congrats on ttc #3. I was wondering who was going to be first. Not sure on ideas for middle name for #3 but I think it was a beautiful idea to use your DD name as a middle name. What does DD think?
Cass- how are you going. Oskar is so gorgeous! Great to hear the boys are getting on so well. Ari thinks Xander is HILARIOUS! She cracks up all the time and he loves that he can make her laugh so much.
Cass_blob - so pleased it's not just Ari. Today she was watching Madagasger with DS and there is a part when Alex the lion sneaks up and scares Marty the Zebra - well Ari jumped 2 ft in the air and screamed. Kind of funny (for us anyway)
Bec - hey great to hear from you. I'm so not looking forward to going back to school next year - blah. Thats awesome that you were able to do bottle and breast so successfully!
Karina - haha - Ari spits all over us too when she's not interested in food. We only gave her veges for the first month, then breaky/m'tea (sometimes it was at 8am sometimes not until 10 depending on her sleep etc) she now has breaky 8am, chew on some fruit at around 10-11am when DS has m'tea, lunch (fruit puree), afternoon tea is a rice cookie or custard, dinner vegies and then custard after her bath. We also give her rusks (we get the vegetable ones or you can make your own vegemite ones vegemite (and cheese if you want) roll it up and microwave for 30s-60s and when it cools it will go hard. Mainly she just has a couplke of chews/sucks and then throws them around.
-
Hi everyone!
Karina - Nic has 3 solid meals a day - usually cereal and fruit for breakfast, veg and maybe more fruit for lunch and veg and fruit again for dinner. He probably has the equiv. of 1 jar ful of veg (about 3-4 ice cubes). Somedays I also give him a piece of pear in the mesh thingo in the afternoon as well. It took Nic a while to get the hang of rusks as well, and he prefers the fruit to chew on.
Caro - good luck with the move!
Hi everyone else, sorry, can't remember what everyone else has said now! We had a full on weekend. I decided that I wanted to do up the girls' room (again!). Their room is split level (it used to be two rooms, now one, sparated by 3 steps and half walls). Their bed is in the bottom bit, and in the top bit they just had heaps of toys and, well, crap really! I thought they would use the space better as a "chill out" space. I put a cool rug on the floor, some beanbags and cool cusions, a new cube bookcase and all their books and cd's. For Jas' birthday, she got one of those beaded door hangy things that you walk through, so we put that up there, and two huge butterflies hanging from the roof. Anyway, it is very cool, and took us all weekend and they love it! Nic has been sick with a cold, but is getting better and slept a lot over the weekend. He is pretty happy and very cute! He is getting very close to crawling now. He made a move forward today, so that was pretty exciting! Still surviving the school holidays, and looking forward to our holiday in 5 weeks!! Yippeeee!!!
-
I think Claire is getting a little tooth. Bottom left hand side. I can see it, but its really hard to get a good look at it as she wont let me! Poor thing, I can see its really bothering her! She was cranky last night, then had two long naps today and cant get enough of her teething ring. I gave her some of our Brauer teething stuff and that seemed to help. But she is still quite cranky!
-
Karina, Oskar has 1 or 2 solid feeds per day.... he was refusing mornings so the last few days I just cut him back to afternoon/evening. Maybe he was getting sick of pureed pear cos I bought some of the Organic Heinz pear and apricot and this morning he just couldn't get enough of it!! I bought some baby yoghurt today and will try it later this arvo... got it on clearance price too cos it's only ok till 15th which is still HEAPS of time! Yup, snuggling in the middle of dinner would not be fun!! I've given Oskar a teething rusk twice and he's like... yeah right mum what the hell would you like me to do with this then huh!!!...lol. He likes his mesh bag thingy with some fruit. Apple is good in it cos it doesn't go all soggy ;) Aww I hope it pos through fast and doesn't boher her too much.
Sarah, we're going pretty good :) Thanks I think he is too...hehe.
Jo, sounds like Nic is doing really well! I can't wait till you are over here so we can catch up for a coffee with a bit of luck!
Drum roll pleaaaaaase... Oskar FINALLY rolled over last night...lol. Actually did it twice. He tried watermelon yesterday and LOVED it. He had a new brekky this morning and LOVED it... so that was good. Last night he went into his cot for the first time - well for night sleep that is... and did really well. He woke up around 2 but just patted him back to sleep and then he woke around 5 but decided that the sound made by kicking the side of the cot (the one which goes up and down) was a really cool sound... NOT AT 5am!! PMSL. Oh and scratching the sheet cos it's a waterproof matress so it sounded cool too apparently..lol. I used to put him in his cot at times to play so that I could go to the toilet etc... but took all the toys out cos I didn't want him playing in the morning.. what do others think about this?? His cot is in our room so I thought that when he goes into his own room then he could have toys in there??? Anyway, best be off he's getting grizzly and it's very hot so he's probably thirsty.
-
Yay! I have my house back to myself again! My sister and her 2 kids have just left wih J to go to the airport, and I have some silence again....
will post more later - right now i am very tired, abut emy is very active, so must go and play
-
Hi everyone...
Thanks Cass...I'm not worried though...although I was actually making reference Ariya who was born the day after Grace!
Karina..Grace has 3 solid meals a day...fruit and cereal about an hour after her first feed. fruit or custard or yoghurt or a jar of something for lunch around 12pm then vegies for dinner around 6-6.30. She loves her food though and rarely spits anything back unless she is playing or full.
Gotta run, grace just woke up (she seems to know when I open up BB!). Will try again to post properly tonight. Take care.

A BIG WAHOO my mummy went home today on the plane yippee! I love her and miss her to pieces when she’s not here, but when she is here she drives me insane! She does the whole I’ve had 6kids before I know what I’m talking about! Well hello I’ve watched you and helped you with my 4 younger siblings and this is MY child so just leave me alone, I know her cries an what she wants! Lol! I’m a tad emotional! It’s been a long weekend!
My party was great, I had a great time and they all got the hint and left early! So we weren’t there long (I had a few friends coming around for drinks afterwards)!~!~! Izzy was quite cranky and wouldn’t sleep, plus everyone trying to hold her was just annoying her, she just wanted her mummy! But its over! Wahooo!~!~! Until I turn 21 again next year
Izzy is getting quite cranky now because she can roll onto her tummy but can’t roll back! Had quite a few nights where I have had to roll her back! She’s been really cranky the past few days and I have no idea what is wrong, I think she might be hungrier?!?!? So I’ve been giving her formula as well sometimes she’ll drink it sometimes she won’t… She won’t drink it out of a bottle only her cup… So I think I might have to buy new bottles. . .
We’ve had troubles with loc playing me and DP against one another, asking me one thing if I say no asking his dad visa versa! And that’s causing ‘discussions’ between me an DP, also we have different parenting skills that need to be some compromises! Really I just want it my way! Lol (I’m joking)
Cass – We should meet up~ considering we’re not that far apart 40 min drive…we could meet half way But the nanna’s gone home so can’t babysit (oh what a shame lol)
Shell thanks! Em is gorgeous!
Caro I hope your move goes smoothly!!!
Bec – glad to here seb is doing well, glad ur back at home… have fun
Sarah – izzy jumped with the storm the other night. Poor thing was sitting on my lap and a big thunder came and she jumped so high, poor lil girl hehe.
Hi jo – school holidays are finished
Izzy has 3 solid meals a day… oh and she had a arrow root biscuit las night loved it!!! I’m getting photo’s on the net now!!!
And I broke my car! It’s quite low to the ground and I reversed onto a gutter when I came off it ripped my bumber bar! I’ve got a photo go have a look! :( :( its going to cost me hundreds to fix
-
Hi all, well I have nothing to talk about but I am soooo tired and the house is sooo messy so I am procrastrinating as DH isn't home and hasn't been home all day and I am *issed off. (Ok feeling better after my little vent)
Cass_blob - pleased to hear you had a good party and ouch about the car :-( You might find izzy's grumpiness is due to a developmental milestone. I found out about these when DS was a bub and basically when bub is about to learn something new, or is working on the skill they get really grumpy (frustrtion, tiredness ect) apparently they can even have periods of unsettleness when coming to terms with abstract ideas like the fact that when something is hidden it hasn't disappeared (One thing I actusally remember from my psychology course at uni) Anyway i found it was true with both my kids. I found esp at night they would be practising in their sleep (eg sitting up or on hands and knees) but don't know how to lie back down and go to sleep. I don't know - might be something that helps?
Cass - wow Oskar has had a big day! woohoo on the rolling. did he like the watermelon? I have some honeydew that I'm going to mash up for ari and she how it goes.
Jo - Wow, i want a rom like that! Sounds awesome
Oh i just remembered I did have some news. Today Ari was crawling around (DH was SUPPOSE to be watching her) and somehow managed to get her nappy off, poop .... and eat it. OMG so disgusting! Def a story for her 21st! Funnily enough she didn't seem interested in her vegies tonight - DH response... she must be full from her afternoon snack
Edited as I realised that didn't make sense after I said DH hadsn't been home all day - His office is in the back yard so he came home for half an hour for dinner and then went out again.
-
Hi everyone -
Sara - Yes DD was very impressed with Em having her name as a middle name, we didnt tell her until Em was born though, bit of a suprise! OMG on Ari with the nappy and the snack!! Dont you just love Dads when they're watching the kids . . (watching tv or someting else and being in the same room counts doesnt it???!!) ;)
Ozziehoffy - YAY on Oskar rolling! Em CAN roll (ive seen it) but WONT (??) not her thing perhaps?!!?
Rachel - Em is the same as Grace, whenever im on BB - no matter whats she's doing she wants her mum (i cant sit her with me on the computer as she trys to touch the keyboard the whole time!) and the same meals, cereal and fruit in the morning, custard / yoghurt and fruit or vegies for lunch and vegies for dinner.
Cass_blob - Thanks. They're all growing up sooo quick! Glad you had a nice thime at your party. LOL on next years 21st. Bummer about the car.
Not much here, Em had her weigh in yesterday,
6.860
65.5cm
I think the soilds have beefed her up a bit!! But shes more cuddly! Talks (blabbles)heaps, she can say "Dad" and copies when we cough and is really into Dora the explorer (great!) i brought a dvd of it, she somtimes watches it and i get a few things done!. I could just watch / laugh at her all day!
-
I have finally got a chance to write something!
So, last Thursday was Mum's birthday, and we had lunch here, and my cheesecake turned out well. It wasn't very deep, but it was yum. We gave her a digital photo frame, which she loves, because she has been ranting for a while about how she hates digital photos because she never gets to actually see the photo - Dad puts them on the puta, and that's it.
Then Thursday night, J picked my sister and her 2 kids up at the airport at midnight, and then on Friday afternoon, Dad took mum out to the movies. While they were out, we all went over to her place, and met my other sister, her hubby, and daughter, and we got lots of food ready for a BBQ, which we then hid in the dining room, which has doors on it that we close because Annabelle (16 months old) gets into everything. Then my sister who came up from Victoria took her kids down the road, and we waited for my parents to get home. We made the boys go for a swim, as that was our reason that we were telling Mum why we were there. THen when the pares got home, I rang my sister, who came back, and rang Mum from the driveway, and was having a chat, and then said "hang on Madolyn wants to say something", and then pretended that Maddi had run away, and was looking for her. So Mum was on the phone waiting for them to get back on, when Maddi appeared in front of her. Mum was soooooooooo surprised! She let out this huge scream, and scared Maddi who ran away, which was funny coz Maddi is 9, and she and her mum used to live with my mum for a while, so she should have been used to Mum's crazy ways by now! Anyhoo, I was glad that it was all over, because we had been organising our surprise since about Easter, and the last time that Danae and her kids came up was February last year for our wedding.
So anyway, Danae and her 2 kids stayed with us until yesterday morning, and our house insn't very big, so Emy was back in our room, Danae and Maddi were on blow-up mattresses in Emy's room, and Marek was on the couch, and they just had stuff everywhere! So, now, it is my birthday today, and I am still trying to get our house back into order. Because we were out so much while they were here, i didn't do any washing, and have to do it all now. Bummer... Especially because Emy decided to be a spewer again, and spewed on all of my pants...
Anyway - Emy has been really cranky during the day the last couple of days, and quite clingy too. The only thing that we have managed to do to get her less cranky is to give her a rusk to chew on. I don't think she is teething, because she doesn't have the red cheeks, but I have no idea what is going on with her... other than that, nothing has really changed with us...
Question for the girls in warmer parts - Does your baby stink? The other night, Emy woke up in the middle of the night, and must have been sweating, and she really really stank! We are still only washing her every couple of days, but i think now that it is getting warmer we will have start to do it every day... mostly i think the stink is from her head... but just wondering if anyone else's baby is stinky too...
Shell - I don't know if I would give DD3 the same middle name, but maybe if you just ask DD1 what she thinks about names - she might come up with something really nice!
Ozzie - YAY on Oskar rolling! Emy has been doing it since 3 months, but the other night i was watching her sleep, and she was rolling one way and the other trying to get comfy, but she didn't have much room coz we just put her back in the bassinet while my sister stayed with us and she would roll one way, run into the wall, and then back the other way, run into the wall, roll back the other way etc - she did it a few times and still never woke up! It was soooooo funny!
Cass_Blob - Glad your party went well. Now to plan your wedding! I loved planning mine! Do you have any ideas yet of what you want? Or when you will do it? We were engaged for 3 years before we got married... Bummer about your car. I am soooooo sick of cars....
Caro - I hate Telstra too! They are so cheap and evil, that we can't get broadband where we live which is a relatively new area, and they are developign heaps more areas out here, and they won't be able to get it either, so to actually get broadband, we will have to move into an older area, which we were going to do anyway, but still, it just doesn't make any sense to me...
That's all from me now! I have to go and rest my fingers now, and make J take me out for lunch.
-
Ali, Claire has stinky feet. The rest of her isnt really stinky, but her feet get sweaty and they stink. Claire is just about to cut her first tooth and she hasn't/doesnt have red cheeks at all. She hasnt had a fever at all either. She's just been grumpy and hard to settle, always wants something in her mouth, and I can feel and see a little toothy coming through! Woohoo for the cheesecake! Cheesecake is yummy.
Jo, the girls room sounds really awesome! Well done.
Sarah, sorry hd to laugh at Ari getting her nappy off! Hope it wasnt too messy.
Cass, yay on Oskar rolling!
ok well have to go. Small person needs me.
take care!
-
Well it's offical Ari is ON THE MOVE. she started crawling on hands and knees and their is no stopping her so we are madly trying to childprroof as she destroys the house around us. But she is having so much fun exploring the house - she is def an outgoing little person.
Karina woohoo on the toooth So is Ari the only toothless one left now?
Oh gotta run
-
Hi everyone, hope you all had a good weekend, wow, how did it get to be Wednesday already?!!
Karina, yay on the tooth, it's so exciting, isn't it?! Apart from the grumpiness. And S bit me today for the first time - hopefully that doesn't happen too often!
Ali, what a cool surprise party! S didn't have very red cheeks before this tooth, but was drooling quite a lot. He seems to get quite sweaty, especially in the pram, but not stinky so far. We're only going in the shower with him every couple of days too, but as weather gets warmer and when he can sit by himself I'll just bath him everyday. He's getting a bit heavy to take in the shower by myself!
Shell, we are thinking of TTC around the same time! I agree, ask Renae for a suggestion for the new baby's name - and you never know, it could be a blue one this time!
Sarah.... EWWWWWW, I read your post and actually said "ewwww" out loud, and DH said, "do I want to know?" and I said, "no!!" Great motor skills, though, being able to get her nappy off! I'm sure S couldn't do that yet, although he is starting to play with the velcro a bit when he can.
Cass_Blob, bummer about your car. Hope Izzy settles down again soon.
Cass_Ozzie - we don't have any toys in S's cot either. His cot is right next to our bed, and he only spends time in there to sleep, or like you, if I just have to get something from downstairs and don't want to leave him on our bed. He gets lots of playtime with his toys on his playmat.
Caro, good luck with your move and hope you get your phone/internet connected quickly!
Sebastian is so on the move - not crawling, rolling. I left him on his mat last night and walked into the kitchen to get a drink, and came back out and he was already over by the TV (three or four good rolls!) So we are going to invest in a playpen! I'm just so worried with the stairs etc, and there is a lot of stuff he could just hurt himself on... it means I can go upstairs to the toilet and leave him in the playpen downstairs and not worry constantly about him. I think it's important to be able to relax when you're on the loo, right?! :D
He had mashed banana today for the first time - and loved it! Which is great because he's been vomitting some of his food back up and been pretty unimpressed with the last few things I've tried. So it's nice that he's finally really enjoying something! I also like the idea because he's a bit constipated and I want to up the fibre in his diet. Also realised he's probably not getting enough fluids, so bought him a little tumbler with a sipper on it and he's having some water a couple of times a day. Slowly dropping the formula down and upping the breastmilk, and slowly my breasts are adapting to it - which is good, because I was feeling a bit inadequate and worried that he would go hungry!
Anyway, I had a mole removed from my back today and I think the anaesthetic is starting to wear off, so i'm off to bed. Catch up soon!
-
Hi everyone, guess what?! Sam finally has a tooth! Yay!!
He is starting to bring his knees up under his belly so hopefully he will figure it all out soon and start to move forwards not backwards. He is so funny though, he lifts himself up on his hands and his toes and it looks like he is doing push-ups! The girls at daycare just think its hilarious.
He's not talking yet, well, only his own language anyway lol. He looks at me and makes a "mmm" sound so hopefully I'll be lucky and he will say mum first!!
Well I hope everyone and their bubs are going well, I haven't had a chance to read many of the threads but the poo one grabbed my attention!! lol
Take care all xxx
-
Cass, yep we should definitely catch up one day... maybe you could also come and meet up when Jo comes over from Perth?? I know we're going to try to catch up... so you should come too!!
Sarah, Oskar is still a gummy bear :D OMG WAY TO GO ARI!! You little champ! PMSL @ Ari and the whole nappy and poo incident... although I shouldn't cos kharma may bite my lilly white a$$.... hmmm let's hope not!!!!
Ali, sounds like you were pretty busy! lol @ your mum screaming.
Bec, I have Oskar's cot right next to me too... hehe. Woohoo Sebastian with the banana! Oskar doesn't like mashed banana, although haven't tried him for a while on it so must try again.
Some of the girls in our playgroup and I decided to enter our little ones in a baby show with proceeds for Leukemia Foundation... so I thought well it's for a good cause so sure why not. Well.... Oskar came 3rd in his age group... hehe and won a trophy. I soooo wasn't expecting it as he was VERY interested in his shoes and the lady's paperwork and not talking to her. There was some VERY cute little bubs there and OMG some TINY newborns... I couldn't have imagined doing that when Oskar was that tiny but he wouldn't sleep then...lol. I can't remember Oskar being that little and it feels like a lifetime ago now.
-
OMG OMG OMG! I had my first full nights sleep in about 5mths!!!!!!! Ari slept through from 8:30pm to 7am. I however woke up at 4:30am in a cold sweat thinking the worst and then checked on her every 30min or so but my god it was good. Here's hoping for another one of those, not sure how we will go though as she fell asleep in her high chair tonight (uploading photos now) - Yes my little girl who never sleeps feel asleep by herself sitting up so either she is sick or maybe she has just settled a little more????
Cass- wow on the baby show, but of course Oskar would get a place he is so gorgeous!
jen - woohoo on the tooth! Ari was doing the push up thing about a week or two before she finally got the hang of crawling! so lok out!
Bec - yes we love our playpen for the same reason. I went childproofing nuts today, I can't believe the stuff they have available now!
Ali - we are offically in the wet season here (32-34 c each day and humidity 80-100%) ari has a bath everyday plus we have a wade in the shell pool in the backyard in the arvo. I have noticed ari has a bit of a 'smell' at times particular if she's been in disposables and sweaty.
-
Grrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!
So annoyed!
We replaced the engine in Jason's car about a fortnight ago, and that cost us a total of about $2000. Then today my car didn't start, so we called RACQ out, and they couldn't start it, so we had it towed to Mitsubishi and they reckon that we have got to replace the engine in it as well - which is going to cost us about $3500. NOT HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously not impressed with that at all!
Anyhoo, Emy doesn't have any teeth either, and I don't think she will be crawling any time soon either.
That's all from me - too annoyed to type at the moment....
-
Sarah - Thanks for that, now that you have mentioned it, it does make sence... I also think she's getting her top teeth, because as soon as we put some teethin Gel and sometimes panadol shes fast asleep... WTG ARI!!!
Shell - Izzy copies her dad when he's feeding her he'll goo "rahhhh" then put the spoon almost up to her mouth and she'll go "rahhh" back as if to say hurry up an feed me! But she'l only do it when her dad feeds her!
Alli - havnt really orgnised anything besides the fact we want a beach wedding... i know i hateeee cars too! the other side of the bumper has gone now too! i've been driving a lowered car for 2 yrs and now im wreaking it! grr!
Cass that sounds good... let me know when :)
Hmm i was goingo write something after i did the personals but know i cant remember... plus i have a monster atacking my keyboard!!!
I'm having so much trouble at the moment trying to get izzy to not cry without me! I can't even leave her to go to the loo with out her screaming! I know what people mean know when they say i have made a rod for my own back! Because this is all coz i didn't want her crying when she was little so i'd pick her up! And he dad says how much he wants to help but as soon as the playing is over ans she starts crying he'l pass her back to me!!! and its me every night that has to get her to sleep because "he'l wake her if he lays her down" GRRRrrRRR ... So i havent a clue how i am supposed to rectify this! Ok overy my winge!!!
Scary thing last night! i got pulled over by the police! I almost had a heart attack! In 4yrs of driving i've never been pulled over by lights and sirens!!! But they were doing jsut random breathtest and licence check! The officer goes have you been drinking ' I'm like are you stupid im breastfeeding and have kids in the car" he goes well weirder things have happened!

Hi Everyone
Em's having her morning nap so i thought i do a quick catch up!
Alli - :happybirthday: for wednesday!! Hope you had a nice day. I hate having house guests, the cleaning before they come and the cleaning when they leave and catching up on washing etc as you said drives me nuts!! (mind you we only really have DP's mum stay, and belive me she's enough for me for 1-2 days, usually stays for a week) At least you were all together.
Ozziehoffy - for Oskar!! As Sara said - he is very gorgeous!
Sara - Woo Hoo on the sleep!! Mabey the crawling's wearing her out!
Sasha - I thought those moths were good for TTC as i'd love a oct/nov baby (my whole family are jan - july, so i'd like one later in the year but you never know! We're going to try for blue but i'll be just as happy if we have another pink! Trying to decide if i want a 4th. It sounds like S is very busy with rolling!
JenP- Doesnt sound like it will be long before Sam will be crawling! YAY on his tooth, Em doesnt have any yet - i keep checking!
Cass_blob - I pick Em up when she crys too, i hate it when she's upset and if i can help her by picking her up i will! DP always gives Em her last bottle and puts her to bed, thats a part of his time with her (he gets home about 1 hour before she goes to bed) but thankfully i can go to the loo alone! (until crawling starts!!) She'll grow out of it - and if you like it that way who cares!!??!
Nothing new here - house work day - borning! Em's up and ready for her brekky!
-
Ooh, Cass, I know what you mean, the police always make me nervous when they pull me over, and I've never had a ticket (even if I was a little naughty, I must have one of those "innocent" faces, LOL), but even if I've never done anything wrong I panic a bit! Silly, isn't it?!
ikwym about daddies... sometimes I think he gets all the good bits and I have to deal with the cranky bits! Although he does change nappies now and then. And S is SOOO happy to see him when he comes home from work, it's lovely.
S very unsettled today, wouldn't go to sleep for ages and then only in my arms. Tranferred him to the bouncer and am hoping for the best! I think he might have another tooth coming through. Damn, and to think they get 30 of them. Ugh!!
-
Hi all....well we have a little teething monster on our hands at the moment. Really hard to settle to sleep and then won't sleep for long before waking up wanting to chew on something. Poor thing, lucky we don't remember getting our first teeth, it's obviously uncomfortable. She's also definitely weaning herself from the breast. Most days now she will BF well first thing in the morning but then doesn't want a bar of it for the rest of the day. So formula she is getting, but as long as she is happy and healthy i don't mind. I really do think that my supply is slowly dwindling though, especially on the right which she has been fussing with for ages, as the other day she fed well from my left but not at all from right and you couldn't feel the difference between them! Also I can go 24 hours (morning feed to next morning) without her feeding and I am not ingorged.I'm full but not painful or lumpy or anything. I'm thankful for this but i'm sure one day it will all just be gone and there won't be a morning feed either :(.
Sarah....Grace is still gummy too, although I have a feeling it may not be for too much longer (i hope so anyway, for her sake). Yucko with the nappy and poo incident, that's a bit tricky Ari. Yay, for the good sleep, fingers crossed it continues for you.
Ali, glad the surprise went well. Happy Birthday for the other day. I hope you get the car sorted soon, how frustrating.
I went for a long walk in the rain yesterday (rather depressed about my weight at the moment, can't seem to shift it and finding it really frustrating), but when i gor home my left knee is really sore when i bed it and I'm really worried because this happened to my right knee years ago and I had torn my cartilage and required surgery so i hope that's not the problem. Finding it really painful to kneel on the ground which is rather tricky, plus have mother's group today and that means sitting on the ground for ages so not really looking forward to that.
May need to visit the physio at some stage if it doens't improve today. What a pain!
-
Aww thanks Sarah and Shell... :)
Sarah... OMG HONEY YAY!!! I bet you felt very strange! I would've woken up in a panic too. I seriously hope that she continues doing this on a regular basis for you.
Ali, what a royal pain in the butt!! I HATE it when crap like that happens! That's like the pile of bills sitting in front of me right now... well over $1000 and have come in just over the past week and a bit!! I seriously need to see if I can space some of it out as there are insurance and rego included. It's raining, it's pouring... pmsl bills that is!
Cass, it's not a rod hun... they can go through stages like that. I noticed that sometimes Oskar would start crying if I laid him down... but as soon as you sit him up instead he'll stop... maybe she wants to sit? If you have a walker or something you can also place that near the toilet so she can see you ;) Oskar comes in the bathroom with me all the time and is very quiet if I'm in the shower washing my hair, like he's fascinated. Oh I had to do an RBT when I was pg with Joshua and I looked at the cop and then my belly and went... ummmm no I don't think so!! lol.
Rachel, I hope that you haven't done anything bad to your knee and I hope Grace's little tooth pops through so she's not upset anymore. I hate seeing the pain they can go through, it's so hard cos they can't even tell us what it is that is hurting :(
We went to the beach today with some of the other mum's and well let's say that the water coming up onto his feet did NOT impress him and in fact he started screaming!! lol.. like it was biting him! A couple of the other bubs also screamed. It wasn't too cold, actually felt rather nice. It started to rain (one of those lovely storms we've had come over rather fast) and it got him on the legs and he started crying again.. so maybe it's he doesn't like the water if it's not the bath?? Was a little amusing though...hehe... ooops bad mummy!!!! Must be off cos it's past bedtime for the boy!

Cass – way to go Oskar!! What a champ. I would have given him first prize though as he is just soooo gorgeous! But third is great too! About catching up, where is close enough to you to catch up? I will be in Brisbane from the 7th November, and we are still deciding if we will go to Australia Zoo or not. How far are you from Brisbane?
Sarah – WTG on the sleep! I hope she keeps this up for you.
Ali – that sucks about the car. I would be annoyed too!
Cass – Nic is going through this clingy thing as well at the moment. Every time I put him down, and leave the room, he cries for me. He is better now that he is sitting up on his own, as that seems to distract him a bit, but whenever someone else holds him, he cries. He also cries when his daddy leaves the room. He is quite sensitive to that at the moment.
Rachel – I hope your knee is ok, and you don’t need surgery. As for your weight, try not to beat yourself up about it. Having a baby changes your body so much and it can take a while to get back into shape. I have been doing weight watchers to try to get back to my previous weight, and although it is hard, it works for me. I also have DH on it too!
Well, we bought a tree today. I am very excited, as this is the start to my garden that I have been planning for over a year now. It is a Chinese Tallow and is beautiful. Aside from that, Nic is beautiful. He woke up at about 6am and had a bottle at about 6.30am as he was so hungry, then we put him back to bed at 7am as he was so tired (he is usually awake at least 2 hours before a sleep), and he slept for 2 ½ hours! He has never slept this long during the day, even as a new born! Amazing, and so lovely as I went back to sleep and got to have a sleep in myself! Still surviving the school holidays. The girls seem to be fighting a lot this holidays, don’t know why. Their room is still tidy and they have really been looking after their new stuff. That’s about it really!
-
Shell - not really liking it at the moment cos its wearing me out. shes only sleeping small naps so the only time i get to do anything is while she sleeping and i can't make much noise. . . Even if she's with her dad she's right for a minute but if i walk past she screams for me.
bec - Hows seb? Izzy's top eye tooth looks like its comming through and its causing her so much pain poor little mite.
Rachel - hope there is nothing serious wrong with your knee. . . And hope grace's tooth comes through quickly with no more pain!
Cass - i think half of the time she wants to sit. And half the time she just doesnt not want to see me! congrats on oskar getting third!!! wahoo! hehe izzy didnt cry when we went to the beach she thought it was awesome... shes definitly a water baby!
Im still waiting on our swimming instructer to send the photos of izzy under neath the water swimming and standing up on the intructors hand... when they come through i'll put them in photobucket!
I think i've solved my problem a bit... We had a inflatable raft that went in our pool! Intead of using it in the pool we have now put a sheet around it and izzy sits up in it and plays with her toys. she thinks its great because she can sit up in the corner, ands its nice an soft if she falls over... I had it outside yesterday and she played in it for over an hour! it was great! I got to clean the garage abit and set up the other computer~And this morning ive put it inside on the tiles so she can watch me type and clean
but right now gotta get her to sleep... and might go for a nap my self, had a shockin headache for past three days...
Everyone hope all is well kisses n huggs
-
Well I hate to brag but my little princess has slept through for 3days in a row now (I think it's three anyway) AND she slept for 2 and 1/2 hrs today for a nap, which is the longest nap she has had in her life! And yes I think the crawling is def wearing her out - it's certainly wearing me out! We have also discovered a couple of interesting theings (1) I have stopped drinking coffee which has made her much more relaxed 2) We are trying to stop using soap in her bath - someone else posted about soap in another thread and it reminded me that we could never use soap in DS as it would make him wake up screaming at night! We had a curious kids party today - was heaps of fun, spent WAY tooo much money
Cass_blob - welcome to the clingy stage, it passes. don't let anyone tell you you have made a rod for your own back! The best way of dealing with it we found with DS is to smother them in your love. Carry them everywwhere, if they cry pick them up, play lots of peek a boo esp around corners, sing or talk loudly when you are in another room check bac often when you are out. At this stage babies don't understand that when you are out of sight that you are still there and you need to teach them to rely on different senses other than sight and within about 2 wks it will have settled a lot. If you try and force the spereation you may increase the anxiety and dreaw out the problem.
Rachel - I hope your knee is recovering! i too am struggleing with my weight, it can be really depressing, but try and keep in mind that it took 9mth to put it on AND you didn't have a newborn to deal with then! Would your hubby be willing to set aside a couple of hours each week for you to go and and exercise? I know it's tricky when they do shift work which is why I am not practicing what I'm preaching. Hope Grace's tooth come through soon.
Grr can't remember what was on the other page - hello to all will catch up soon
-
Cassblob, we are at the clingy stage as well. Claire just has to be with me. Even with DH she gets cranky! She's happy with me, then DH comes and takes her, and she gets grumpy then when I come back inot the room she reaches out to me and follows me around the room. As everyone already said, its just a phase not a rod. Even the babies at my mothers group whos parents did controlled crying have clingy babies.
Rachel, youve done so well by breastfeeding Grace for 7 months! so dont feel bad that your supply may be low. As long as she is getting something, whether its breastmilk or formula, is the main thing. Hope your knee feels better soon and its nothing serious. Hopefully the physio can fix it up.
Cass, how nice that you took Oskar to the beach. We've been wanting to go with Mothers Group, but each time we plan it, it turns out to be a crappy day and we end up just going to someones house instead, as we arent near any beach so its a fair trip.
Sarah, yay that Ari is sleeping well! You must feel like a new woman! Thats really interesting about the soap..
Well, Claires little toothy is still coming through and making her grumpy. I can feel it and its rather sharp, but luckily she is not biting me when I breastfeed her. It is the front left one, and I think the one next to it is coming through as well, but its hard to tell as she never lets me look at it. She is loving chewing on her chewy fish at the moment and has just worked out what the whole point of a rusk is. She used to just wave it around, but now she chomps on it.
She is still blowing raspberries when I feed her solid foods though, whihc makes it sooo messy. Solid food meals always require a change of clothes. I think I need to get her one of those bib suit things! I saw someone else post a thread about the same thing (blowing raspberries when eating), so it is good to know other babies do it too and its normal.
We took Claire out today, and DH took her to a cafe and had lunch while I went to the library to get some stuff for an assignment. He said that people were coming up to him talking about Claire and calling her a BOY!! I dont think she looks like a boy!? We also went grocery shopping and DH got a really strange comment from a random person asking him if I was "really truly honestly the mother of the baby".. What kind of a question is that, lol!!
DH hs been off work all week (school holidays, he is a teacher) and is going back on monday, so I'm on my own again next week! Its been so lovely to have him at home and helping out. I've been having a few sleep ins! I also just called my work the other day and told them I wont be coming back until feb, if at all. I just talked to the HR person, not my manager as theres been some restructure with redundancies, office move and now we all work for a completely different compnay (our compnay was bought by another) and we still dont have proper roles yet, so I have no idea who my manager is as no one has bothered to keep me up to date with whats going on. I think they will be pretty peeved, but there isnt much I can do about a huge shortage of child care.
Sorry for crapping on so much.
Well, hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!
-
Jo, I'm about 40/50 mins from the city. I'm still keen to catch up and Cass_blob is also!! Nic and Oskar will have to fight over Izzy...lol. I gave oskar first ;) hehe. Yay on starting the garden... I want to do ours but may have to wait until next spring.
Sarah... omg I am touching wood for you!! What a fantastic thing to hear! It's been a long time coming. BRAG AWAY!!!
Cass, what a great idea. It's great when you can get things done huh.
Rachel, Claire does NOT look like a boy... weird people! At what the with people asking if you're her mother... once again... WEIRDO'S! Sounds like your work is all over the place at the moment! Hope it sorts out soon.
Well, we've had a busy weekend... did a few things around the house on Saturday, or should I say Andy did and then yesterday we went up the Sunshine Coast and saw some friends we haven't seen since I was pg...lol and she's pg and due in 2 months so that was good. Then we went and saw an Endeavour display home and bought a ticket *fingers crossed*. Oskar has seriously taken off with the whole solids thing. Omg little piggy!! Not into it too much in the morning but by around 4:30-5:30pm he's having around 50 ml veg and then he's been having a WHOLE tub (100g) of baby yoghurt! Then he has booby before bed as well. I'm a little concerned about his pooing (TMI) though as he's not going every day and today seems to be having a little problem going... he's not done a proper one since about last Monday/Tuesday. He's done little smears and tiny little ones 3 times today. He hasn't been grizzly about it, but I think that this arvo he is a little bit so I bought him some pear juice and I've done the whole leg thing with him, so hoping that will help. Hmmm that's about it I think... yup ciao for now :)
-
Saram - congratulations on Ari's sleeping! I think we may have somehow managed to swap babies even tho we haven't met - Emys always been a good sleeper, but the last couple of nights she has just been feral, waking up and crying heaps, and refusing to go back in her cot, but happy to lie down with us... its very weird...
Cass, Cassie, and Jo - I might be up for a catch-up too, depending on when it is. I don't think that we are taht far away from you Cassie - we are right near the Logan Motorway...
can't remember what anyone else has said lately - sorry!
I had my first day back at work today - and it was sooooooooo sad driving away from home and seeing Jason and Emy standing there waving goodbye... and then i worked 1pm to 9:30, home at about 10pm, and so of course Emy is asleep, and I can't even give her a kiss, because of the side of the cot, and so i just have to do with giving her head a little pat. And as much as i want to give her a cuddle, I hope that she sleeps through tonigth... Anyway, I last breastfed her at about 1130 this morning, and my boobs seem to be ok, so i will see how they are in the morning. No swelling, pain or leaking here yet!!
ANyway, i'm not used to this whole working thing, so i better go to bed now - i'm exhausted...
Good night all!
-
Hi everyone, I am very relieved. I came on here to ask if anyone else's bubs have been EXTREMELY clingy and really sooky. Everytime I walk past Sam he calls out and makes a really irritating cranky squeal, doesn't cry just squeals! So I am glad that you guys are going thru the same thing as me. I was beginning to think that I was doing something wrong! My monday babysitter couldnt have him yesterday so I didn't work but I'm back here today cause Sam has daycare. Its terrible but I was relieved to come to work today for a break!!
Hope everyone and their bubs are well. Can I ask though, did any of your bubs have a little lump in their leg after their needles? I was playing with Sam the other day, and he has a little lump you can feel under his skin, you can't see it. His needles were about a month ago so if its not from that I don't know.....anyway we are going to see the nurse tomorrow so I will ask her.
Take care all,
Jen
-
Jen, Claire is doing the same thing as Sam! Claire did have the lump under her skin where the needle was put in, but it lasted only for a few days.
Ali, congrats on going back to work. I can imagine it would have been a bit teary to leave little Emy for so long. Good to hear that you didnt have any booby pain from not feeding. I suppose your breasts will get used to it.
Cass, its amazing how people will come up to me and say "what a cute fella, how old is he" when she is wearing ALL PINK. There are lots of old people where I live so maybe theyre colour blind or something. Woohoo for Oskar loving his solid foods! Claire is still not too keen.
Had a lovely day today - I went to DFO with my mum and my sister. I cant believe how long we were there for! Mum was soooooo excited as she just bought a car seat so we got to use it for the first time. Claire was such an angel, and she even slept in her pram for a little while. I went into Pumpkin Patch and bought her a hat as I managed to lose her other hat. I also saw a guy I was friends with like 6 - 7 years ago and havent seen since. I felt so dub standing there staring at him while trying to remember who he was and why I recognised him. I remember faces, but I just dont remember peoples names! Then the lady in the Jewellery shop wanted to keep Claire. She was scary though.
ok well enough of my rambling!
-
alli - where are you?
Hi everyone!~!~!~
cant talk getting attacked by my darling child~!
-
Hi all, turns out the lump that Sam has in his leg is a result of the needle. Kaye (our nurse) said that sometimes the muscle reacts to the needle and the lump will go away on its own. She said it doesnt happen with every needle, only some. Weird huh. Well Sam is now 10.1kg and 81cm. He's been growing 2cm a fortnight so he has slowed down to 1cm this fortnight gone. Phew! He was growing out of clothes way too quickly the way he was growing before!!
Kaye put me onto this stuff called "Teething relief". Its all natural, they are little dissolvable tablets that you put on their tongue or you can put it in their water or juice. I have given them to Sam a couple of times, just on his tongue and this stuff works wonders! Kaye said she has had a fair few mums rant and rave about the stuff so now she is recommending it to all mums with kids that are teething. It also says on the pack that you can give it to them when they are just irritable as well. It must numb the mouth and just relax them a bit. Whatever it does, it works! Its $12.95 from i assume all chemists and has about 125 tablets. The best thing is that you can give them 2 tablets every hour for 6 hours so if they are really bad you can give them something other than nurofen and panadol. Anyway, I just thought I'd share that little discovery with you all.
Hope you and your bubs are all well.
Jen

Hi all still alive have been ill with stomach bug + Ari now thinks that because she can cralw she should learn to walk so is pulling up on everything and needless to say keeps falling down and bumping herslef + I have another assignment duwe in and my computer died so have to fight DH for his.
OK gotat go hope all are well
